Review Govind's - Guwahati

The food served is good but they need to work on their ambience. I had visited the restaurant many times but today when i visited I felt the restaurant needs renewal of furniture.I ordered aloo parartha served with chutney and was good. The tea was also nice. Located in the centre of Paltan Bazar opposite to ASTC bus stand.

This is pure veg restaurant inside Mayur Hotel, Paltan bajar. They have a wide range of veg items at a decent rate. The restaurant is now under construction so it is not well furnished. We ordered matar paneer, vegetable jalfrezi, rice and tawa roti. The matar paneer was full of paneer and tasted very good. Jalfrezi was good too. It's more like a family resturant. One must try the special thali which was not available today.

One of the best places for vegetarians in Guwahati. Food was scrumptious and the service was good too. But there is one thing in particular which makes the place look a bit off is the ambience. There are very dim lights in the restaurant. Although the reception area and the hallways are well lit with bright lights, the dining room is not so much. If the dining area lighting is improved, then it will be perfect.

One of the best Vegetarian Thalis in Guwahati at such an affordable price! Govinds is an Aesthetically Pleasing and Quiet restaurant hidden amidst the hustle and bustle of Paltan Bazaar. Try and make sure you don't miss out on this gem of a place even if you're on a short visit to Guwahati. It's just 5 mins away from the Railway station.

Pure veg restaurant at paltan bazar. Tasty food. Special veg thali is perfect for 1 person. But service is slow and take time to serve. So please take extra time when you plan here to take lunch/dinner.

Pure vegetarian restaurant Very Nice food and they serve freshly prepared food One big disadvantage is the service is too slow It's up to you to decide if you can wait for fresh food to be prepared. If not in hurry the wait is worth it.Reasonably priced as well

It is very tough to locate a good vegetarian restaurant in the busy and overcrowded Paltan bazar area near Guwahati railway station. There are lots of restaurants in this place but they all are doing cheap business. But Govind's is an exception. Restaurant is well maintained and updated. Food is very tasty and reasonably priced. Waiters are well dressed and obedient. As the restaurant is located inside on the ground floor of Hotel Mayur it is a bit difficult for the travellers to locate it. Would recommend everyone especially the vegetarians to visit this restaurant.

Nice place to have vegetarian meal..located near the busy area of paltan bazar railway station.. opposite of ASTC bus stand..this restaurant is located in the Hotel of Mayur...tatse quality and quantity is good compared to their prices..prices are also not that high compared to vegetarian meal..it takes almost 30mins to provide you your order..as the restaurant always remains busy due to their ongoing orders from customers staying at hotel.. restaurant is good for those who loves veg food.. Matar paneer was awesome.. overall nice place to have your meals and also good place to stay in this hotel..room ranges starts from 500 only and that also clean and hygienic room..staff service is good and house keeping is also upto mark

We had masala dosa 2 pcs for breakfast. Though we found Rs 239 a bit high, the taste was good. We orderdered 2 veg thali for lunch. This is when i got really disappointed. The rotis were as hard as wood. The quantity was too much. The waiters were hopeless. No smile on their face and the service was slow.

I have been to Govind's so many times. One of the best budget Veg restaurant in the paltan bazar are. At the budget rate one can get the tasty and hygienic food in the calm and hygienic environment. Govind's has a large verity of veg food at reasonable price. As a vegetarian i always prefer Govind's while i am in the paltan bazar area.I think 200₹ is sufficient to eat in the Govind's because they cost 110₹ for the lunch or dinner.

Ambience is quiet soothing out here. Located just beside mayur hotel, or rather under mayur hotel.... dim lighting makes you feel tempted. As far as the menu concerned its not what its ambience claims. Food is okey but not too good. I like masala dosa, paneer makhanwala, veg manchurian here. And yes it is all vegetarian... sorry carnivores....

I've been here several times and its always made me happy! Its located underground within the Hotel Mayur. Has a soothing atmosphere that goes wonderfully with the dimly-lit ambiance. The only downer is that they serve lunch only until 3 and certain items can only be ordered within set times. But otherwise, their food will make you keep coming back.

The service during the lunch hours (from 1 - 2/2.30ish) is quite quick. But coming for a dinner here, they tend to take longer.

The food reminds me a lot of ghar ka khaana. One of the few places to serve a good roti. I also love their Dal Fry and Paneer makkhanwala. I thought the Paneer would be sweet but it was superb - the balance of sweetness was just right.

I would also recommend their Thali - the best in 100 bucks! They offer dal, two sabzis, raita and a kheer - along with rice, rotis and papad.

I've even tried their Chinese and South Indian - was good enough.

I love this place for its simplicity and the way you can just sit here and unwind. A place for all who live on a tight budget and for those craving good ol' desi food. The Menu might be limited in its options, but it sure warms your heart (and fills your tummy, in a good way)!

Okay, so a few years back, when I visited Guwahati, I stayed in this hotel, called Mayur and thus, had food from this particular restaurant.

Firstly, I can't say anything about the ambience of the restaurant as we had ordered food in our rooms.

The staff behaviour is also fine.

But, what actually punches you below the belt is it's disgusting food. The food served here is vegetarian. We ordered for veg fried rice and paneer chilli for the dinner. The fried rice was still edible, in a no option kind of way but the paneer chilli seemed like literally arrived from HELL (Yes! with the shouty capitals). It was cooked with mustard oil. I was literally shocked to see anything like that. In any case, next morning as we had to leave early, we ordered for the breakfast- the plain and simple puri-sabzi. It was again disgusting.

BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! It looks all lit-up to fool you into stepping into the dead end.
