The ambience is good. The food is good. The staff could be slightly better. The toilets are way too dirty. And in terms of food I recommend you to have Pork items. As they are specialsed on it and the way they maintain the hygiene and the taste of the food is worth mentioning

Opposite to Pantaloons near downtown hospital. Good amount of food or simply quantity. Quality wise it's ok but not the best.
Lakhinandan Dutta
Nice place tu hang with friends, family.. Food is tasty.. Good service.. Located in downtown near the bus stop

Best place for chowmein.. I tried the chicken liver, & it was worth every penny.. The taste was very good.. The dish is good for party occasion..

Great value for money, I have been eating here since 2014. Never had any issue with quality
Monjeeta Baroowa

Went to a birthday party there. Ordered veg pulao, mixed veg, mutton curry , chicken curry and coffee. The veg pulao was more like yellow fried rice which tasted awful. Mutton curry and chicken curry gravy were the the same. Nothing different. More like same base gravy with meat pieces dipped. Chicken tasted like boiled. Smelly mutton.Mixed veg had just carrots and french bean. Unattentive staff. Total bad experience. Waste of money. Didnt see a single customer except ourselves. I see why people dont go there . Advice to the owner: Improve service , food quality and maintain hygiene (your restroom was so dirty i felt like puking after i went to wash my hands)

I love pork so I really like the smoked pork fried rice/noodles. I haven't tried other dishes yet but I would recommend this smoked porked noodles n fried rice
Bikash
The paneer butter masala had no traces of butter, but more of masalas and floating oil. It tasted extremely poor.
Debashish Bhattacharyya
I ordered Chicken Gravy Chow Mein. And i was delivered only the Gravy. I was utterly disappointed and famished at such erratic display. This restaurant was one of my best restaurants from where i ordered so many times, but today it made me ruin my expectation. Wasted.
Pineapple Pizza
The food here is very good and the restaurant provides good quality of food. The prices are bit higher compared to other places of same category but for the quality and taste it is worth the price. They can improve their service as it takes a while for them to bring the food.
Sasanka Saikia
Good food
Rajesh Chutia
Food quality is not worth the money and it tool so long to get prepared, price doesn't justify the taste and quality, probably my first and last order.
Bhishma Upadhyaya
Placed an order through Zomato delivery app. Restaurant screwed up but worst part - first of all, restaurant number is incorrectly listed on Zomato app and secondly, restaurant seriously needs to learn some telephone etiquettes. If you are in a service industry, please learn to talk politely and apologise if you have made a mistake. Quality of the food has deteriorated too, there was a time when we used to frequent this restaurant for the best momos in town, but now taste of the food is worse than a roadside cart. Look at the packaging polythene !! Hope something changes .

I ordered dry, I got gravy

Worst service in the whole Guwahati. It took them 40min only to take our order. The staff was so rude that when I asked how much time would it take to serve, he replied with a smirk on his face " 1.5hr".
Requested them to fasten the process and serve early, he simply said either you have to wait or else you can leave.
Left that restaurant and went to Urvee's Palate which is far better than this shitty restaurant in terms of food and service.

Good job Urvee's Palate.

as a take away joint it's an ideal place...I personally love their pork items...the pork curry is my personal favorite and the Momo's...apart from that haven't tried much, the decor seems nice but the service is Abit lethargic so visit at your own risk...
Tapashree Dev
Pretty good place. Good food definitely but the lighting is too less. I had chilli chicken & it was definitely superb. Good going guys. Visiting soon.

The only best thing I ate here was the green salad. The rest of the food we ordered was horrible. Nothing Shillong about this restaurant. We were just 4 people in the restaurant, and the food took 45 mins.
ABHIJIT BHARALI
The place is well maintained and provide a variety of chinese cuisine. The sitting arrangements are good and the place is large enough. The items are mediocre. The fried rice and chowmein were not that bad. The gravy items also meet to the requirements.

Basically a place which had an early fame, but is just as good as dead in the current age.

Food: Really below average. The quantity and quality of food provided at the price in that restaurant is pretty much inferior compared to the other eateries.
On my last visit, I ordered a 2 plates of momo, and had to wait for about 40 mins for it. The momos were soggy and rich in oil content. A really bad choice for those wanting to grab a quick snack.
Rating: 3/5

Ambience: Non existent. Feels as if you are in a secluded place with zero people coming for your service. The place is large, but the absence of waiters/waitresses makes it a really uneasy place to be in.
Rating: 0/5

Decor: The location is good, the decors are too. But due to it's ambience, it gives you a creepy and unwelcome feeling.
Rating: 3/5

Service: The only time i see people coming up to me is when they come to take the order and the other time is when they bring in the food.
Even the guy at the counter is so unwilling to talk about anything else with the customers.
Rating: 1/5

Cost efficiency: 3/5

Final words:
A place that i strongly donot recommend for a visit.
what can I say, since a year my friend in the north was hyping about this place. Every time we went out for momo's I was bluntly told that nothing beats this place.

Visiting Guwahati, I decided to give it a try. To my astonishment the Ambience was empty, dirty tables and bad décor.

There was only one water who didn't know how to write and gave a piece of paper to write the order.

As told to me I went for the fried chicken momo's.

the service was fast but the momo's were badly done. if felt as if cold momo's were dipped in oil and dumped on a plate with oil leaking from all sides. The chutney on the side was bland and soup was quiet cold.

ended up ordering a platter of mix noodles and veg noodles on the go.

to my astonishment I was told for s weight of half hour, and the dry noodles were bought right in front of me.

The noodles later st my home stay didn't turn out to be that bad but didn't have that extra bits to put an effort of visiting the place again.

my suggestion, this place might have been the best budget friendly place back in the day but really is not to the standards.
BISHAL SAIKIA
This place was once the best place around Downtown area. The food used to be great and the prices were reasonable. But now, the quality of food has gone down so bad. The service is pathetic. The attitude of the staff are not good. The streetside thelas serve better chicken chowmein .
Juri Boro
Went there long time back with my friends. It's quite a pocket friendly restaurant and the food I'd say is okay, not bad. The interior of the place is no special and can be decorated abit better.
Anup Das
One of the worst ever place. Please never ever visit.
1. No one is there to serve you a glass of water.
2. Waiter is taking the place of manager who takes order, serves your food as well as collects bill.
3. Serves uncooked pork with full of onions and capsicum. You will have to search the pork out of it. If you says them the dish is not cooked well, they says, they are in this business since long and they knows it very well. Pork dry fry means, uncooked pork with some soya sauce. If you complain of it, you have to face waiters rude behaviour.
4. Chicken dry fry means, some boiled chicken or soaked chicken with some soya sauce with full of capsicum and onions.
5. Menu speaks that there are a lot more items but if you ask for it, they says, that cook is not available today.
I have never ever experienced such worst food in my life till now. The street corners with no more specialised cook are even better then this crap. Adding some pics.. No customers, no staff you can see. Also see the food..
NABANITA BORO
One of the oldest pocket friendly restaurant in down town area(perfect for students). Taste of the foods are good. But the last time when we went there, the service was too bad.. it was too slow, and the attitude of the waiter was quite cold..don't know why.😂😂
Food: 3.7/5
Ambience: 3.5/5
Service: 2.5/5
Price: 3.8/5
⏺️Place - well this is a restaurant wich came up ages back i suppose. There was a time this place was big popular for its momos and chicken pakodas. Probably they still maintain the same state, but the thing is with so many other choices coming up in ghy, they seemed to be deteriorated in some way or the other.
⏺️Food - still i would recommend the chicken pakodas here.
⏺️Price - reasonable.
⏺️Location - very easy to locate.
⏺️Service - average

The most pathetic food one can get will be this place I mean who adds raw tomato in Manchurian??!..😡 Utensils- stinks like fish, Ambiance- ordinary, to be precise like a roadside dhaba, too noisy... I would never suggest anyone to visit this place 😡
The_unknown_food_battle
Now this place is something really very horrible. An unhygienic place. Food is too oily and nothing in taste. Service...i think there is no service😂 earlier it was quite good. Wish i could give a 0 and not 1.
Dhiresh Singh
Nice service, decent quality & quantity of food, nice place to have a good time. One drawback is that many of the items are not present or cannot be ordered.
Prayag Dutta
The best thing out there is the combination of rice and noodles. Non of the retro in town can serve rice and noodles like shillong restaurant.
Debarun Kalita
Pretty much average. Common Menu.
Food quality is pathetic and tends to being a disgraceful and distasteful experience . Process time is like "Ages"..... Only for quickbites if nothing else is around.
Kasturi Kashyap
Food is not upto the mark and yes it is not that satisfying you can eat here if you are not able to control ur hunger but i will not suggest anyone for sure
Hrishiraj Talukdar
Have visited there many a times. Just notice the pricing of the food items in the menu.its like 78, 65, 68, 128. So its a bit different pricing out here. Anyways the seating is same like other restaurant Nothing so unique about it. They have expanded some parts of their restaurant. The food out here is 3/5. You can try the chowmeins out here. Staff is well aware of the dishes it serves, he was able to help with all the queries about any dishes.
Well you might face problem while parking your vehicle.

A place to hang out after college for quick snacks...had tried momos, fried rice here lot of times...as per images, seems yet not changed even after 10+ years.:.
Himashree
Music is good. We ordered pork hakka, chicken fried rice, momo and chicken manchurian. All are very good in taste. Quantity was enough to make your stomach full. You will Definatly want to visit 2nd time as the taste is very good. And also price is affordable to all.
Angana
Went today at my friend's birthday party.(04mar'17)
First of all i want to say that the restaurant is not at all clean...😥😥😥😥 As we all want n know that restaurant should be clean as it's about food ..
The glasses server for drinking ..oh god! all are smell bad.
But the food was good & fresh...
And yeah it was taste but but the quantity was very good ...
So I have written here my viewpoint of the restaurant..
& Hope it will taken as positive view!😄😅
Buggs
Had the Pork Dry Fry there. Quite nice. But their fried rice was tasteless. Despite the fact that we mentioned that we'll be giving the orders shortly after our friend arrives, the waiter kept constantly nagging us for the orders.
Debabrat Sharma
A good place to be visited situated at downtown. Visited this 2-3 times. I have tasted the chicken fried rice, coffee, roti chicken curry of this place. The taste and the service both of them were good.
Anupam Sarma
used to serve the best momos and noodles at one time . But the quality has degraded . Was a pocket friendly place . But the food quality has gone down.
Manab Gogoi
Aaaahh...!!! One of my fvrt.. the amount of fooding is really satisfactory in comparison to price.. Lovely Music also.... the CORNER of top part is specially arranged for Couples😍😘😍
Angshu Lnx
People really say all sorts of shit about this place but I have a sense of nostalgia to it... Probably because i have eaten umpteen number of times during my college days.
The fried rice, butter garlic chicken and chilly chicken are pretty good here. The momo isn't bad either. The quantities exceed the quality though. But can't deny that the quality has declined in the last 2 years. But the good thing is you can customise your food according to your need. The guys there are pretty friendly.
Food- 3
Amibence- 4
Service- 4
Cleanliness-3
Pradyut Sarmah
Food is below average. Exception- Liked the smoked pork.
Service, well i had to make the waiter understand my order 3/4 times.
Overall- Food-1
Service-1
Ambience-1
Priyangka Mahanta
This place use to be one of my favourite place in Ghy cause the food they served was yum & quantity was good.
So lately the service, food quality has gone down drastically.
Ordered veg noddles, boneless chicken Manchurian, pork fry & momos.
These items use to be best around guwahati.but it's sad that how the food quality & service has gone down.
High time for the team to buck up !
Anindita
Ordered veg noodles fried pork sweet sour chicken ,chicken mom is. Veg noodles ok but pork was tough tasteless chicken less then mediocre.Food at this place has deteriorated since the demise of its previous owner Dr.Gogoi Hope shilling hotel team will improve.

Guys! I I had the most terrible experience a week ago. There should be a signboard at the entrance -BEWARE OF US.. We went there during daytime because Hendrix was closed at that time. After entering S.R. , we asked whether chicken lollipop is available or not. The boy at the reception nodded. After waiting for about 40 mins, our lollipop finally arrived which took us by surprise as there were only 2 mini pieces of lollilop per plate. The shape of the lollipop looked no way like it should be which was accompanied with pudina ka chutney. Since we were hungry, we ate it anyhow. The final showdown was when we went to pay the bill. For just 2 pieces of mini lollipop per plate, they are charging Rs. 180. Can you believe it? OMG. On being asked about the rate, the staffs shouted at us and started quarelling. We asked for the owner's number, but they didn't give. The staffs were so rude. I think they are looting the customer as well as the owner. It's high time for the owner to change their staffs if they still want to be in the food business.
Anchal Somani
It's certainly not a place that you'll like to visit. The waiter was such a douche bag- totally hopeless and mannerless. The air conditioning didn't work properly. And above all, they don't even had chilled mineral water. Such a distasteful experience, I must say. The food was okay (just okay) but the prices they've put up on the menu is unfair. I mean you have better options to fill your tummy with tastier and cheaper food than going to Shillong Restaurant.
Kuwali Sarma
I would have rated this place 4.5 some 10 years ago. This was the place we thronged during our school days.
But now, its poorly maintained, unfairly overpriced (Rs 80 for a plate of momo, really? )

There is this weird smell as soon as you enter this place. Not worth visiting now.
Sajid Vincent Ledger Khan
This was one of the places we used to visit during the school days and the order was always Pork Steam Momo & Pork Noodles. Infact Shillong restaurant had been one of the first eatery in Guwahati which used to serve soup with their momo (I am talking about the late 1990s).

The restaurant is quite a big place with seating spread over 2 levels. Service had always been ultra slow.

My ratings;
Food - 3/5
Ambiance - 3/5
Service - 1.5/5
Supratik
Never visited a place which serves' fried pork with bones. And the result was not so great. The ambience is nothing to boast about. The food is quite average and the dishes are nothing close to original Chinese. The quantity served is quite good though. The place is a bit too dark for my liking. Service was OK. A strictly one time visit.
Nabajyoti Das
Just don't go there! I'm sure you will not get what you want. So you have to eat what they want, not what you want! Been there two times. This happened every time with me. Today they crossed the limit. We were there in for 20 mins maximum, I was cutting my birthday cake. Had not order anything, they just gave three glass of water. And again, on the time of order, there are hardly few things available. This time, we decided to leave and give them 50 rupees for there time. But they asked for 100 rupees. 100 rupees for nothing, or may be, for three glass of water! Bloody sucks! Oh forgot to mention, their fried rice sucks!

There are some places which, though pushed to the back of your head, remain etched in your memory for a long time, not because of their food or service or ambience but because of the memories associated with it. For me, Shillong Restaurant is one such place. When I was in college, they had a branch opposite our college besides this one which used to be our haunt.
When visiting Pantaloons, we had to choose between Hendrix cafe and Shillong Restaurant.
It's a dimly lit place and is generally quiet except for music floating in from Hendrix next door.
Now coming to the food bit, it isn't anything to write about. The noodles and fried rices are quite good but the Chinese gravies lack flavour and aren't true to their names. For instance, you'd hardly find any chilli (capsicum) in Chilli Chicken! The momos deserve a special mention though, they are actually tasty but overpriced compared to the other items.
Service is a little slow even when there aren't many customers around.
Overall, a decent place to grab a bite but don't expect much.
Priyanka Kar
I was hungry n suddenly saw da poster of shillong restaurant.... But must say low cost n tasty fud....
Gunjan Sharma
I have been to Shillong on a few occasions for a quick bite (while I used to commute to Jorabat). An average place with honest pricing. The ambiance is too dark for my liking. I have tried the American chop suey and the momos most of the times and I was pretty satisfied. The chop suey was sweet and tangy (my wife mentions that it was too sweet for her liking; she is a Chinese chop suey eater) and the portion very generous; so I walked out satisfied every time. The soup accompanying the momos is really good and the momos themselves were nice.

So overall, if you are around that area and hungry, you can walk in for a bite; but I would not recommend Shillong for a planned dinner.
Greville Nathan
Its a place that happen to exist on the guwahati shillong highway and therefore enjoys the benefit of night revellers who. Are all heart and soul bent on reaching Shillong and head off for the hills and waterfalls of Cherrapunjee which are just about 3-4 hrs away from this spot.
Ok so drinks they do serve at reasonable rates on a peg basis.
They have a variety of Chinese and Tibetan items kike momos, stuffed tingmos, singopran hakka noodles, chopseuy in local style,
Plus youd like their chilki flake ketchup.
Its tiny cramped room with posters, mirrors and swinging doors . A meal for two wouldnt make dent in your pocket, i say it wouldnt even be more than 650 bucks. But needs a major overhaul if they want to upgrade to fine clients.

This restaurant, small yet cosy, has special mention in my life. Located quite close to my school, it was a regular place that we, friends & later on with my beau, often visited for its peaceful enviornment. The food is OK, nothing extraordinary, but again good to give you nice company over a nice talk with your loved ones.
