Review Prarthana Sweets - Guwahati

HIRANYA NATH
It is a very old sweet shop in Ganeshguri - Hengerabari tinali. They have a variety of sweet and namkins. It also have a quite variety of BAKERY STUFF. Since it is one of the oldest shop in the area it mainly remains crowded all the day long in comparison to other shops. Prices are reasonable and taste of items is up to the mark. The milk items such as curd & paneers are quite popular among the local folks from the time I know the shop for last 15 - 20 years.

Well, I don't know about other products of this bakery but the Rasgulla of this shop is the best Rasgulla I've ever test (excluding Kolkata's one) in just 15 rupees. I've tested sweets of many places/restaurants in Guwahati and also of other places of Assam and India. No Rasgulla could be better than the Kolkata's Rasgulla. If Kolkata's Rasgulla is 10 star then Prarthana's Rasgulla is 8 star. There's another one sweet which is "Malai Chomchom", it is also better than many other restaurants which costs only INR 20. And rest of the products of this shop is either normal or I haven't tried.

Its been ages since we all have been buying from Prarthana Sweets. Anyone who stays in the Ganeshguri or Hengerabari area will know - this is one of the oldest sweet shop and has maintained its quality.

One of the oldest sweet shops in the locality and remember it from decade ago. Its is located in a prominent place and is as such easy to find. The sweets are quite good and quite relishing. Had ordered kadju rolls, laddus and some other sweet and all were good. Would definetly recommend to anyone with a sweet tooth.

Indrani Sarma
A local sweet shop that's highly recommended for your box of sweets if you are anywhere close to ganeshguri in the city of guwahati...been in existence for quite a few years and have been pretty consistent in serving out the typical chenna based assamese sweets..sandesh, malai chom chom, malai sandwich , rasgollas, kala jamuns, chitrakoot, kheer kodom, kaju and besan barfis and the like..and of course mitha doi(sweet curd).and like most sweet shops in guwahati they also serve amazing piping hot vegetable chops and singras(samosas)..definetely one of the better sweet shops in the city and i ensure i always get my box of mithais from prarthana whenever i visit home in guwahati..am sure you will love them too

This sweet joint is a little old but they have maintained their consistent taste throughout. The bread, panner, milk, sweets you must give a try.the samosa's with tea/coffee are nice to eat there during the winters.. "Rasmalai" is a must try.

Want good panneer? Come here it's the best in the city! Sweet are good with good milk content in it! You won't get that water thing in the mouth. Pure leather of milk when you chew one!

I like the puff patties they churn out. Even the sweets are of very good quality. But for me the best thing they sell is the paneer (cottage cheese), hands down one of the best you get in Guwahati.

My rating - 3/5

Good sweet shop. Chops and patties are good too. Serve a wide variety of sweets ranging from rasgullas to gulab jamuns and dahi. The taste of their food however tends to be inconsistent, as many a times I have bought dahi which was borderline inedible. Overall though, it's OK.

The sweets are really nice. Especially the rasmalai. But I wish the staff was more polite. They are not rude but not too high on customer service. But I highly recommend the Rasmalais and the rasgullas

Well prarthana sweets is yet another desserts shop loved by the locals. But I especially love this place for its sweet curd. Its truly delicious. My father used to buy us their sweet curd almost regularly when he was here. Though i am not sure if it is still available, i'd still recommend to try it atleast once if you do find it. The sweets are good too. Prarthana sweets has seen some real bad days. Once they had a theft and then they faced worse times post the blasts of 30/10/08. Some how it stands up every time and copes with the losses very evidently!
