Since my childhood I visited this restaurant and had spend a quality time , later I used to study in a nearby law College , I used to come with my teachers and two friends and still now I come my family and friends , the hospitality and the taste of chicken hot and sour soup 🥣 is mind-blowing and the overall rest of the food quality is good .

The price, taste and quantity all are good. I don't think there is any restaurant in this area that can give food at this price. Ambiance is not too good. In one line this restaurant is not good for selfies which is also an important part. But quality I believe you will not be disappointed. Value for money

Decent Resturant. We was ordered Reshmi kabab but chicken was not soft at all. Otherwise according to the price decent Resturant
Aayush Goswami
The food tastes really good, the service is at par the expectation and we'll maintained interior and seatings. Prices of some items can be made a little bit more affordable.

Visited this small but beautiful two storied resturant after visiting the botanic garden of India. This restuarant located exactly at the centre point of Danesh Seikh Lane bus stand. We tried Penguin special mixed fried rice and a gravy chicken item as side dish. The penguin special rice was full of prawns, chicken, mushroom and eggs. Also the chicken gravy items were so delicious contains 8 equal pieces of tender and juicy chicken. The most important part was the behaviour of the staffs who were too good in nature. If you visit this location, then you may try this place.

Penguin special fried rice is a must try in main course. Some staffs are not enough attentive to the customers. One can have a nice experience there.

One of the best place for a pocket friendly budget food in Howrah. This place literally makes food worth value for money. The staffs here are very informative and polite and friendly. The quantity of food is also sufficient. The taste is good without any doubt. You will find a bit queue while getting the table on weekends. We ordered Chicken Tandoori Full which tasted good with generous amount of chicken in it. And in main course, Mixed Fried rice, Egg Chicken Fried Rice, Mixed Noodles, Hongkong Chicken and Chicken Manchurian all of them tasted finger licking which was so good at that price. Moreover, a must try when budget is a bit low but a satisfying meal.

You would not find the authentic Paneer Butter Masala here, it is actually made with while gravy here which was pretty astonishing.
Malai kofta was tasty but it has unnecessary extra sweetness which overpowered other tastes. The dessert menu should have given more options and expecting a more enlarged menu in all aspects.

Pretty good place for a small gatherings.

It’s a pending review. This was my school days food joint when I was in higher class. We hopped in this place in any occasions. Ha ha as it’s too pocket friendly. I remembered we usually ordered mixed fried rice, Sweet Corn soup, Chicken Resmi butter masala and some kebabs. The food junction is in the heart of the DS Lane. So easily connected. I love their mugalai and Chinese dishes. Hope you guys started online delivery. Hence I can order my fav food from you.

Nice place a bit dark. We were dissapointed because there was a hair in our mix fried rice which they replaced. Staffs are good. The ambience needs to be much better. Food taste js good. And affordable too. Overall good when we are broke specially.

What's Up Kolkata?
This is located at Abdul road near 100 feet road. Friendly staffs. Perfect for family dining. Serves Chinese, indian, mughlai cuisine. I personally prefer their mughlai cuisine they are very tasty. Value for money is great. Their tandoori chicken is love. Chinese foods are not up to the mark.

A restaurant that carries lot of childhood memories!

This restaurant is very popular at our locality. This restaurant offers best quality food at a pocket friendly price. In our college days i used to visit here once in a week along with my friends. Now you can imagine the price of
the food is reasonable enough that a college student afford to visit here once in a week. I almost have tried every single dishes of this restaurant. I love to eat chinese and this restaurant is the one which makes my love stronger towards chinese food. It also serves few delicious Indian and Tibetan food. I can speak my heart out when i talk about this restaurant.

Good restaurant, pocket friendly and tasty food. Ambience is also good but a little noisy for family gathering. Other than that very good...
Anirban Kundu
A relatively old restaurant situated in a corner of busy Danesh Shiekh lane Crossing, Shibpur , Howrah. The ambience of the restaurant is quite ok. The staff were friendly we went there on a busy Sunday evening. The restaurant was packed. The staffs were very active. The food was good but not great. The price may not be very pocket friendly but still not hefty. The quantity of the food is also less. Due to less competition in surrounding region the quality of the food is a bit on the downward side. We order Tandoor roti, Mutton Do piaza, Chicken Manchurian, and mixed fried rice. The quantity of fried rice was really less compared to other Calcutta Counterparts. But the place is definitely worth a shot atleast. Maybe some competition will turn these negatives to positive.
Indranil Pal Choudhury
This is one the best place for dinner or an evening snack... It has maintained it's glory till today....whereas the nearby competitor restaurants have failed to reach it's level .... Try their garlic chicken, butter nun, chicken Tikka kabab, mixed fried rice
Supriyo Mallick
I never eat before prown malaikari like that..
This is too good and biriyani is so tasty...
Stuff behavior is impressive.. Price is very comfortable for everyone...

I've been eating from this restaurant for almost 8 years. Their quality has degraded quite a lot but today it was just horrible.
I ordered veg fried rice and schezwan chicken as takeaway. The chicken was stale and had a bad smell. It was just inedible. It was such a waste of money i had to throw the entire chicken.
Subhankar Adhikary
On a friend's recommendation , ordered Chicken Tandoori kebab and Chicken reshmi kebab from this restaurant and I am fully satisfied with their food.
Chicken was juicy and soft ,well cooked.
Debasish Banerjee
Very average restaurant..there is no special ambience inside the restaurant.price is little bit on the higher side considering the quality of the food.. overall an average place
Amitkumardas
Good in their food & service.GST is also applied but quantity & quality food delivered. All day open till 12:00AM.Good restaurant as per my opinion.

Penguin is located in Andul road near the junction of a busy street. It's a restaurant with average seating and ambience. Food is above average , infact they serve good North Indian dishes like butter chicken and naan. Food experience is good.

I'm an almost regular customer of this place. the friend rice is really very tasty here and not to mention about the chowmein. also the paneer Manchurian is tasty too. all in all this place deserves a lot more clout than what I'm giving it. the service is very very fast. and the food is fresh here.
Snigdha Adhikary
Love this place...awsm food with reasonable price...visited here so many times.when u have sufficient money do visit for tastier dishes...thumbs up

This is a good place for Chinese food..the foods are light not very much spicy..these are tasty but the quantity should increase..i visited this place 5 6times..they are decreasing the quantity day by day...
Sudip Paul
I ordered a Veg Hakka Chawmin...But it was too bad....and that Chawmin was just frying in oil...there is no vegetables......worst restaurant..😠😠
Sarthak Maiti
You can't say it great. However good restaurants are hard to find nearby. And from that perspective it is doing very well. Food quality is okay. Average restaurant but small place. However good for small family dinner. I wished there were more of choices available.
You can visit here and you'll not be disappointed.
Buy don't expect extraordinary or too much from here.

Food is good however never order MUTTON BHUNA dish. I ordered it but really unaware if it was really mutton or something else. Price is cheaper and environment is good.

Jayasree Samanta
Ordered Mutton Biriyani yesterday..It was an utter disappointment... Although the mutton piece was soft and succulent but the rice lacked the taste of traditional biriyani.Morover, it was way too salty!

Visiting this restaurant was in my bucket list since a long time. Yesterday it came true while I visited this restaurant for lunch. It's located just at the Danesh Sheikh Bus stop. So there's no need for finding it out from alleys.

Now coming to the ambience I must say that It's really good. Though you'll not get air conditioned area in the ground floor but you'll get it in the first floor. The restaurant is neat and clean. The staffs were really good.

Now coming to the food. I ordered tandoori ruti and one chicken tikka masala(suggested by a staff). It was really sumptuous and finger licking as well as spicy. There were six chicken pieces in the thick gravy.

It was a great day. This restaurant has won my heart. To speak the truth I'm going to visit this restaurant many more times.

This Is one of the popular restaurants of Howrah. I just Love their food and the best part is this place is really pocket Friendly.

Visited there Last Night also and tried Chicken Tandoori, Mixed Gravy Noodles, Mixed Fried Rice and Babycorn chicken. Though I didn't Liked the Last item But the rest of the items were great in Taste. The Chicken Tandoori was just lip smaking. Everyone should try their Indian and Chinese cuisines.

Have been visiting the place since childhood but this time it was utter disappointment. Level of unprofessionalism. Deteriorated quality and arrogance of the waiters was really unimaginable. The soup tasted stale, the fish item was too salty, the chicken was moderate and the chopsuey was served wrong whereas the waiter kept on arguing that it was us who made the mistake. Very bad experience.
Annesha Dey
I have been eating out here since i was 4 maybe! This place is one of my favorites! Their chinese dishes are superb! One of the most pocket friendly restaurants in town!
Sammy Talapatra
I came here with my friend. we ordered chicken biryani mutton kasha, chicken Hariyali Kabab, and American chopsuey,. the Biryani was ok but the mutton was really good .the choupsey was very delicious and healthy.

I just love this place .. One of my favourite restourent is this ..the food quality is awesome ..they taste very good ..too much pocket friendly ..not too big restourent and the ambiance is not so good ..still worth to visit there . 😍

I stay near this place and have been there hundreds of times over 18 years.

STARTERS

I really like the sweet corn soup and hot and sour soup. Chicken cutlet is decent and kebabs USED to be good. Tandoori chicken somewhat tastes too dry.

MAIN COURSE

The noodles here is a plain turnoff, it doesn't taste of anything, occasionally not even of salt. Fried rice would be the wiser choice. Pulao tastes like regular pulao, cannot complain about it. Naans are really really good, they are soft and light ( garlic naan is my favourite )

Chilly chicken tastes good but sometimes you can feel that the chicken is stale. Dry chilly tastes great. Other Chinese preparations are almost as good. Handi chicken would be my choice of sides if I have to pick a north Indian preparation.

The biryani tastes biryani-ish (can't call it biryani exactly) and after the heat leaves the pot, you can distinctly taste dalda.

One portion of most things on the menu would serve two people.

Barring the quality issues that I have faced some times, this is a pocket friendly place, Service is prompt and serves mostly tasty food.

A Renowned Restaurant for Many of us...Decoration Remains the Same throughout the Years...Specifically Some of the Dishes like - Penguin Spl Fried rice and Dry Chicken are very well Prepared...Staffs are moreover good...
TANIMA PANDA
Been there for so many times. This was used to be my favorite place in howrah near b. Garden or daneshake lane. The quality & quantity of the food was really good but now things just deteriorated. They take minimum 30 mins to serve the food. The ambiance was very bad. They need to improve that. According to the quantity of food price was not so high
Saumya Jyoti Dey
Pocket friendly for students and the food is good...not that great..and the ambience and feel is just ok, not that great you would expect for.

One of my favourite place in Howrah B garden area. I visited here many times since I was a child. last time I came here I and my friend ordered chicken biryani mutton kasha, chicken Hariyali Kabab, and American chopsuey,. the Biryani was ok. the mutton was really good .the choupsey was very delicious and healthy. the best of the lot was the kebab. Dhaniya and pudina were used for marinating . you must try it the price is very reasonable all these items cost 485 rupees only and that too without taxes. the stufs really behave well all the time . the services is fast so the experience is always good one for me.
Himadri Sekhar Bhowmick (cravingsofkolkata)
It was one of the oldest restaurant situated in Daneshake lane. I used to come here since i am a child with my parents for celebrating any casual event or any special event.let me tell you this is not a fancy restaurant but I have so many fond memories with this place. I celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, fairwells of close friends. So if you think you can come here for a lovely romantic dinner you will be disappointed. You must be wandering that then what should be reason. There are actually three reason 1. Quality of food 2. Very reasonable price 3. Service..
The food is really good specially chinese. It is a multicuisine restaurant but I will suggest you to try chinese cuisines. They serve large quantities on plate of fried rice is good for 2 people if you are a sober eater like me. (Yeah inspite of being a foodie). I visited this place many times. The last time I was here was to grab a quick dinner after my semester exam was finished. We ordered dry chili garlic fish.,(That's the best as a starter)one penguin special fried rice, one sezwan chicken and one garlic fish.the fried rice with a double sized omlet covering the dish. It was so delicious. both the chicken and fish were tender .
Though I personally prefer the fish here. Last but not the least the service. All the staff here are known faces to me and the other way around. If you come here regularly they ask you about there well beings and you will surely feel a connection with them. Their behavior is so warm. The service is good and fast. The price is really cheap comparing to quantity and quality of the food. So of you are in the Howrah, Botanical garden area and looking for a place to stuff your tummy this is the place worth visiting..
Food 4.5/5
Service 5/5
Price 5/5
Decor 2/5
Sandip Biswas
This is in my home place...nd visited since childhood ....very nice restu with good srvc... Food qlty avrg since long.... Prices r also chp..so good to fun with pockt..
Sohini Das
I used to visit this place from my childhood..
The place used to serve quite a good quality food but now things just deteriorated..
The interior of the restaurant is good. The staffs are nice too..
But from chinese to indian dishes every dish is very poor in taste and quality... only roti and naan are still the same( excluding masala kulcha)..
Hope to see them improving soon since this place has some emotional strings attached..!!
Subhranil Kundu
I went there twice with my friend with dinner. The food quality was not so good.Important thing is that ambience of the restaurant is very bad.We had to wait about 45 min after order the food.Service was not so good.In a word penguin i think penguin is avarage restaurant.
Deeprata Chattopadhyay
We generally order food from here since it quite near my house. If u want comfort foods, this is the place. Reasonable and tasty chinese food, nice and homely ambience, this place calls to you again and again. Their indian foods are quite good too, but I prefer their chinese food.
Rahul Sengupta
Good food but sometimes the preparation goes to hell may be due to the chef's mood.

So if it's your luck to get good food you may have it if the mood of the chef's is ok
Bir Tamang
The food was good I went with my family for dinner . But the service can improve little bit because it was too slow . Over all everything was good
SHALINI MAITY
Food is good.
Ambience is comfortable but decor is not attractive and very low light
Behavior and attitude of some waiters are not correct. Some waiters continuously poke you to give tips as much they want
Kolkatas Roshogolla
This place has been a saviour for the locals innumerable times. I have been coming here since ages. This is the only option for people staying here, who feel lazy to cook a meal. Affordable and decent food. The taste is not extraordinary, but it's not bad too. The staff are extremely courteous and well mannered. The place has a nice family ambience.
The Indian dishes have a lot of sugar in it, so some people may not like the taste. Tandoori items is something they are famous for. Tangri kebab, chicken tandoori, haryali kebab, garlic chicken dry, mutton biryani and nan roti. A good place for outing without a big pinch to the wallet.
People who come to the Great Indian Botanical Garden, this place is for you to relish some taste warm tandoori and chinese cuisines.
Annesha Das
This place being the only standard option available in the andul area serves food quite at a affordable price. There Chinese dishes are still decent.. But their Indian dishes are a big disaster.. Service is substandard. Quantity and quality of food is more or less good
Sukanya Chowdhury
I visited the place twice and my expeience was in a word "bad".food quality and quantity is not good at all..ambience is good but the stuffs are not courtesious.I am defenitely not going to this place even by mistake again
Sumit Chattopadhyay
Penguin is a good restaurant and serves very tasty food as compared to its standards. The dish chicken reshmi butter masala is worth a try with any type of indian rice. Earlier also I had tried dishes like chicken tandoori, crispy chili babycorn, paneer pasinda, etc. They all were amazing and worth it.
