Review Comesum - Howrah

Radha Maity
I have ordered Hakka Noodles and chicken Steam Momo and a veg thali with 2 bottles of cold drinks and Musambi Juice food taste was nice. but it's not Pocket friendly at all little bit costly . It's a food court in Railway property so I thought it would be a little pocket friendly .
Dr. Rani Chatterjee
Bit high priced but food is okayish! The food court is clean, and has a wide variety of foods, starting from snacks to thalis, biryanis, south Indian foods. I had a non veg thali there. I greatly feel that the place is overpeiced. If you have money, then it's okay, but would be high priced for a normal middle class earning person. The thali was nice, food quality was good. I was given roti, rice, chola sabzi, dal, some other seasonal sabzi, chicken, raita, papad and rasgulla. The veg foods were very nice and fresh. But the chicken had such a rotten, terrible smell, as if it had become putrefied. I tried but couldnot eat it. I didnot complain because I was running late for my train. Anyways, I would prefer taking some juice neaeby or opt for KFC or some other food outlet, instead of this one.

Located just at the entrance/exit of the train terminal, this place is running and serving food throughout. We had some nice and crisp dosas early in the morning when we arrived at Howrah Station. The prices are decent and the maintenance is okayish.
Aditya Agarwal
Food quality is just finger licking good. Their price is reasonable. Restaurant is quiet clean and hygiene.
Debananda Saha
Fresh food quality. Nice staff. Juice, dry food, rice almost every types of food available.
Jayanta Karmakar

Best food at any Railway station. We bought Chicken Biriyani for Rs.199 each. Mostly you will get a good sized chicken piece inside. I love that they use garam masala also and it tastes fantastic.
Shankhadeep
It's a good store near howrah station. Seeking for some breakfast you must have to visit this place having some good food. All the food available there is good.
Sramana M
The chicken burger was dry and horrible. I wanted to toss it into the dustbin but couldn't because I bought it for 70 rupees! Don't ever visit here!
Akash Kumar Sharma
Another old joint at the busy station and stop the pangs of the busy passengers on the go. So i basically like the Masala dosa they serve and yes the biryani is also worth a try🤙
Diganta Santra
The price is a bit high but no compromise on quality and quantity! Great food....only problem is that their sitting area is very small where only 20-25 people fit at a time
Shayantan1987
Just now we took two Egg Thalis from Comesum catering of IRCTC. The delivery guys took from us ₹230/- each for Egg Thalis. Total of ₹460/-. Now when we checked the menu in Zomato, we saw that Egg Thalis cost is merely ₹187/- per Thali. This guy gave us a shit saying that they need to pay ₹1cr per year to the Rail to fulfil the tender, how will they do that if they don’t sell it at higher price! We boarded Train #13131 from Kolkata Station to Patna

When this place started around 15 years back or so, it was really good. It used to be spacious and service was prompt.<br/><br/>Now it's is a sad representation of its former self. It's forever stinking and the seating arrangements are bizarre. Even the cashier and servers are very unprofessional without any coordination between them. They make the bill without knowing whether an item is available or not. And then it becomes the customer's headache to fight out with the server and cashier (in between the infighting between them on the availability / non-availability of the item) for an alternative.<br/><br/>During my last visit around 10 days back, I ordered for a plain dosa. The cashier made the bill and then the server tells me that dosa is not available. When I dispute, he sends one of the staff to get one dosa from somewhere outside...this the level of their service. I refused to take it and opted for a chowmein in lieu. The chowmein tasted pathetic.<br/><br/>AVOIDABLE.

I ordered veg thali for parcel for my hwh ckp express . They charged Rs 206 but gave me chicken thali .<br/><br/>Moreover the chicken tasted like bhagarer mangsho.( Be aware ALL)<br/><br/>So commuters be aware and eat at your own riak at thia restaurant . The serving staff are very unruly and they will mess up with your order

I visited this place last year when the Food Plaza was under renovation, so the only decent place to go seemed to be this one. I ordered a chicken biriyani which was supposed to come with raita and salad as per the breakup in the bill. Although the biriyani was spicy and tasty, they did not serve raita and gave some sort of curry instead. Rating this 3 stars because the biriyani was decent.

Well, there are not many places that offers good food and proper hygiene at railway stations in India, but Comesum is the best option available. Though the food isn't up to the mark and pricing by them, there is space to sit and keep your luggage..!!
Aishwarya Banerjee
It's the only proper place in Howrah (South) platform which serves a decent variety of food ranging from North Indian to South Indian to beverages, so naturally it's the place most Foodies like me head to when hunger or craving hits. I had to board an early morning train and decided to stop by for a heavy breakfast. I ordered an onion uttapam which costed me 76 INR inclusive of taxes. I literally felt robbed when I was served an uttapam which was good and different from a South Indian "thela" uttapam in 3 ways:<br/>1. It was less tasty<br/>2. It was slightly bigger<br/>3. It was twice as costly<br/><br/>About hygiene- I unfortunately caught a glimpse of the chef touching the uttapam with bare hands to spread the onions. I wouldn't mind if the uttapam costed 30 bucks or so 😋

I have been here for the umpteenth time now....<br/>Ever since it opened in the mid 2000s, the quality has consistently gone down & yet the crowd has built up....<br/>For the prices they charge today, I still think the taste is pretty decent....<br/>I like the chicken biriyani & the juices particularly which has been my staple over the years of travel....<br/>Hope they build up to a bigger place with more space & air conditioning....<br/>As of now it qualifies at best for a 3/5....<br/>

Whenever it comes to proper hygiene and neat and clean dining hall in Howrah Railway Station then comesum is the best option you have.......I kind of feel unhealthy when it comes to eating in a station and we all know the reasons why....but comesum has maintained its restaurant as completely neat and clean with proper furnitures for dining, clean basins for washing purposes.....but when it comes to food quality I will not say it is the best..because the food quality doesn't level up with the kind of price they charge....still then this is a good place especially in a Railway station...
Shailendra Bhoi
This is the best food court. Here you will the best food like chicken biriyani, special chicken thali and many more etc.The only thing is you need to be loud when you are ordering something or else they will not listen you.
Sudeshna Roy Choudhury
The food isn’t fresh and hygenic. The staff refuses to cooperate and the AC doesn’t work! The quality of food is pretty average. Would suggest you to go somewhere else.
Srishti Banerjee
One of the oldest proper eatery located inside the Howrah Station Complex. It has a wide varierty of snacks, beverages and regular meals as well as various combos. They display what they have which is neatly arranged so customers can actually see what they want to order and how it's going to look like.Service is pretty satisfactory as hundreds of people visit round the clock. However,it is difficult to find the freshest of good during odd hours.Having said that,it is a pretty safe place in terms of taste and hygiene.Price is a little steep but considering the location and lack of options,it's a decent bet.
Kolkatas Roshogolla
A casual dining area located inside the Howrah railway station. This place comes in handy when the train timings are odd. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner.<br/>The food is good compared to the eateries outside the station but is a tad bit expensive. A small place, where the travelers even bring in their luggage. The staffs are friendly. An okay-ish place for catching a quick bite and moving forward with your journey.
Rajorshee Raha
Been here many times, while travelling.<br/>The staffs and the service is pretty good..<br/><br/>Food is a bit costly compared to Kolkata standards !! <br/>But the quality is good.
Aishwarya Kher
A must eat at outlet when u wait at Howrah station. I was in Kolkata for 3 years and visited this shop every month. I always preferred milkshakes and south Indian items. U can also try Thali and Puri Sabzi.. quick billing and service, hygeinic place.
Aakash Kumbhat
A Causal Dining, North Indian and Chinese restraunt situated near the waiting area in the Old Howrah Station. This place is heaven for travellers who arrive very early for their train or for those whose trains get delayed for unexpected time. It will serve you all sorts of cheap food mean to say its a pure Value for Money. They also serve train delivery at “011-41100100”.
Santosh Kumar
Poor and most pathetic food.Heavy price for not so deserving food quality.Never go for parcel of food here they provided me with smelly food.<br/>Poorest environment and hygiene.<br/>Staff behavior is horrible. You can try foods with much hygiene in Food plaza,KFC,etc in Howrah station.
Anurag Sengupta
clean.. hygienic..have a variety of items to choose from.. but probably over priced.. obviously you got other better and cheaper options to choose from when you at howrah.. but.. its quite spacious and gives you a breather and that's what they charge for..
Abhishek Bardhan
In short, sasta-sundar-tikau. You won't get any better food in Howrah station area. Either you take it as a challenge or entrepreneurs might get up and sit back to see it as an opportunity. Round the clock food availability is the biggest positive thing of this joint. Recommendation: Do you really have a choice?
Dr. Paromita Adhikary
This place is mainly to fill your tummy before going for a long train journey or after one. We went there after getting down from falaknama express from our trip to vizag. We had a malai lassi, egg chicken haka noodles, dry chilli chicken and a kulfi faluda. Overall it was a good experience. But I felt that the proportions were miniscule when compared to the price, location and ambience.

One of the best thing to happen to kolkata station was comesum giving travellers option for varieties of food rather then rail Yatri restaurant which was previously there <br/>They serve all kind of dishes from South Indian to kachori Sabzi <br/>,North Indian thali, veg non veg thali all the items are ritely priced and that's why the place is full all the time as people can enjoy there meal at there budget <br/><br/>Ordered for veg dosa and maharaja thali parcel all the items were very good and the thali was nicely packed with pickle and sweets<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>
Anoop K. P.
Bad food, bad service. Non veg food was terrible. Never tasted such a bad biriyani in ages. Throwing that away, took a fish meal, considering the reputation kolkota has for fish dishes. That was terrible too. Later ordered a lassi, assuming what can go wrong with that. To my surprise, they were able to deliver a worse Lassi too
Dr. Amit Roy
This is one place which has occupied the best area in the south eastern part of the station and doing wrong business all along. The food is average, quantity is small and the price is high, all of these has made the place a flop.
Bithika Mondal
Visited today with my family. Ordered one veg cheese sandwich grilled and a dipped tea. The sitting arrangement is quite good. Its a self service food joint. Sandwich is fresh and nicely grilled. Taste is good too. @
Patrali Metya
This joint is located in the new platform area of Howrah Station..This time decided to taste snacks as most of the time we visit any comesum outlet we order biriyani..So we ordered Veg Spring Roll..Taste was average and price was not worthy in comparison with the food..
Maria
Have tried masala dosa, veg thali, non veg combo thali, chicken biriyani and all were pretty bad... D sambar tasted sweet, chutney was all watery, it's better to try d roadside stalls they gv better taste... <br/>Added to low quality food this place is overpriced...<br/>Well d place is rated 2 which is for d cup of coffee they serve which is bearable rest d place is a big negative.. Everytime I visit this place I miss foodplaza which is a far better outlet.<br/>Management need to encash on d location of d place.. customers seek value for money they spend...
Pia
While traveling from Howrah station had taken a parcel of non-veg comesum Thali and it was horrible. Would suggest to avoid this place, starving would be better cause you will only waste your money here and have to throw away the food.
Shayan Sachin Basu
One of the worst places to have food if you are around Howrah Railway Station. We packed food twice for having them while travelling but both the times the food got contaminated. They gave us refund in return of the bill. But I suggest you shouldnt go there even you are in problem, Irctc is better than Comesum.
Sarmistha Brahma Chatterjee
This place is always crowded but the food is average I tried chola bhatura, cold coffee with ice cream the chola bhatura was average but cold coffee was below average.. I didn't liked it much. I feel this crowd is just because of the people travelling from Howrah station to other places other wise better food is available at this same price.
WokTalk
Not good at all. Food is average. Customer service is zero. Too crowded. Seating is very limited. Will give it a miss in future unless there is absolutely no other option.
Sonali
Had bhel Puri. It was gud. The price is also reasonable.. Overall nice..
Nishit Sadual
The staff is way too rude. No proper seating place. always crowded. Prices are way too high. Have tried their chicken handi biryani. it was good.
Dipyaman Basu (whenstomachtickles)
A hyped up joint serving horrible food. What's worst here, is that the prices are sky-high. The Biriyani tastes horrible, the AC inside doesn't work. The tables are unclean, the staffs are rude and busy, the ambiance literally sucks, The juices are washed up liquid, the Cold Drinks aren't chilled. I could go on and on. I have tried multiple outlets of Comesum, including one at Bangalore Central, Mughal Sarai, Lucknow, Pune, Dhanbad, Sealdah and Howrah and New Delhi Railway Station. Almost everywhere (barring Sealdah and Howrah), the staffs are well mannered, and the food served are worth eating. The only reason I am awarding the extra 0.5 points is due to the Chicken Butter Masala, which I have had across all these outlets (Except the Howrah and Sealdah one), and this dish has been a real lifesaver for me at multiple occasions.
Ananya
An extra point for their expedite service without compromising with the flavours much at rush hours when passengers rush in with a humble hunger to satisfy. It is situated in the new platform of Howrah Station. Things to try for surely are the masala dosa, the tomato onion uttapam and fried rice . Won't be a burden on your pocket and you can enjoy filling meals on your way to board a train or after getting off .

Intro : Food joint inside Howrah station. Was travelling early morning hence dropped in <br/><br/>Food : We had chicken Sandwich - Very very average stuff <br/>Overall 2.5/5<br/>
Aritra Sarkar
A quick bite . Take away .. or munching away to kill time waiting for my train ...portion sizes are good and prices are reasonable .. no seats though...you have to stand and eat
Sohanjit Mallick
Took a Biriyani but it was too costly and they didn't even give the Salad which they had included in the bill. Both quality and quantity are somewhat satisfactory but not that good.
Rudra Pandey
One word. Horrible.<br/>And this app also sucks because it forced me to type more than 140 freaking words to describe horrible.<br/>Never eat here. And Zomato's home delivery is the worst food delivery startup in our country.
Redefinedsp
The most third class place I've ever visit. Food is half cooked. Horrible taste and price is much higher compared to quantity. You can go here if you are passionate about wasting your money
Surya Singh Hembram
I had my first visit last year, the service and the food was pathetic. Choice of food is vast bust rarely available. When I demanded for a light snacks they refused to provide me even if they had option for that. Then me and my pal ordered a chicken biriyani , it was so salty it could hardly be consumed. All the bill went waste...
Priyanka
The only decent place in howrah station where you could grab a bite. It's hygienic and maintains minimum standard. Have tried there biryani and noodles, both of which are ok.
ROHIT ROY CHOWDHURY
It was the first comesum outlet in howrah station, later they opened in sealdah and chitpur. Had their meal and other items couple of times in last 10 years, taste were too average and price wise a bit costly.
Sohinee Tah
We went there and took south indian dishes Masal Dhosa and Idli..!! According to the size of the dhosa the price is bit high..!! Taste is okay type..!!
Nilotpal Addy
Well the name goes a long way for railway travellers. When this outlet began its journey amidst all skeptical predictions and public hurrah. This place turned to be a life saver for most. Forgetting to pack foods for your night long trip to your loved ones, or elsewhere, It doesn't matter they provide an array of dishes to pack and travel. Prices are reasonable and staff is generally cordial. <br/>Cleanliness can be a issue at times but that is expected at such a crowded spot. <br/>Food taste is generally good, and hygienic, along with that they also pack your foods in a good packaging container that will help you carry it in your luggage w/o spillage.
Farha Rahman
I went to its sealdah station area outlet and its so bad.......! First of all then decorated it so well that all foods look very yummy and attractive but when then got me a parcel and I opened it it was so tasteless...... :( the quantity is really small to its price and food items tastes artifical....and God who on earth serves biryani with a sambara???????!!!!!!!!!!! And they got many of the food items showing behind the glass is unavailable 😔 hardly a two star...
Avijit Biswas
Don't know how was the quality of foods now a days... but I love there biriyanis, chilli chicken and chowmin, chole batura... it's a good joint for having quick bites with in reasonable rates... I always opted takeaway while having a tour from Howrha station...
Bitan Banerjee
In one word: horrible. Staffs are rude and very lazy. To get a sandwich which was already shown on display, they took bloody 15 minutes. I paid for grilled sandwich, but got a normal non grilled one. The chicken sandwich that I took had excessive salt in it. Not at all recommended.
Abinash
I have been ordering foods in comesum since many days while travelling.yesterday, I purchased veg maharaja deluxe thali for 200/- around 7.10 pm from kolkata Railway station ' Comesum Counter'. When I ate the food @ 8 :10 pm in the train, it was the worst meal I ever had. The quality of tandoori was hopeless. Panner Sabji was not having paneer ironicaly.I had a very hard situation. When u charge 200 bucks to a passenger atleast provide some good food. This is the first time I came across such a havoc food. From next time I will make sure to purchase food From other vendors but not COMESUM.<br/><br/>Regards<br/>ABINASH
Mohit Kejriwal
Conveniently situated at the entrance of the new Howrah station, this place provides a decent spread of cuisines for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Since it was morning, we ordered just a plate of idly. 3 fluffy and reasonable sized idlies were served along with sambhar, white chutney and even green chutney - for Rs. 55 + Taxes. Prices are somewhat higher which is understandable as they have to bear huge overheads. The idlies were soft and chutney was very tasty. Sambhar was also fine, but was not warm - which was a major turn off. Staff service is okay - but there is problem regarding change availability at the cash counter. Decent seating arrangements are available and several customers were having breakfast when we entered - this being a 24*7 joint. Nothing much to comment on the ambience and moderate decoration has also been done.<br/>Cheers!
Gaurav Wankhede
Neat and very comprehensive menu to suit. Everyone. Located next to Yatri niwas, better that KFC, I enjoyed their packed meals that we took for our train journey. Recommend their fish curry, chicken rolls. But strangely we saw them cooking pre cooked meals ( see pic)
Sudipta Dutta
Too crowded as this is in station premises....U can try food plaza in old platform that's better than comesum.....<br/><br/>I personally don't like the taste of comesum......and behavior of the stall people is also not that good.....<br/><br/>If u have some time to walk to old station..go for food plaza
Vegetarian Beast
Hard to believe I'm saying that but railway canteen serve better and cheaper food then them. Taste and quality both are awful but price is much high. I tasted in some other comesum restaurant also and order their thali in train too they were better then raalways canteen don't know what happen to kolkata branch.
Joy Bagchi
Really sucks . they sold in such a price just because no other good resto was there . now KFC and pizza hut saved us . catering sucks the most
Tanmoy Adhikari
Too many usless aromatic flavours added on the food that makes you go waaak waaaak <br/>Food plaza is 100 times better than this.<br/>Only if you care about the brand value of this <br/>"COMESUM" you would restrict yourself here.<br/>Majburi is no longer MG follow this
Shashikant Yadav
Unfortunately this is the only place to get a filling meal if you are at Howrah Station. The food is served quickly cause you know it was made in the morning and kept on a hot plate. Wouldn't recommend unless you shall die of hunger in the next few minutes.
Swarna Sandeep Mohanty
Just came into the city after many years and went for a quick breakfast here. There was limited options available and tried the chola bhatura which was quite filling and flavoursome. Served with hot chola and two bhaturas for Rs67. There was also a gulab jamun with it... adding to the complete meal valie. I though look for hygiene and was happy with the way the place was maintained. Kudos to the people here for maintaining it in this way despiye the huge number of footfalls. Overall a great satisfying experience.
Akash Gupta
Situated inside the Howrah station, this place serves the weary travelers an apt place for food. Relief from the annoying humidity. Lots of food varieties available. I always have masala dosa there when I go there sometimes. And it's economical too.
Amrit K Ekka
Bad experience food was horrible, service was very very poor, no management to get in touch with customers, i would suggest never ever go and eat at the outlet.
Souvik Bosu
It was disaster experience a person name usuf ali a manager doesn't have any manners to talk to a customer, he is very most rude and Un culture person in food plaza at howrah station at platform 13..<br/><br/>At first we went to the cash counter where nothing was available except thali, when a guest is trying to ask the is any thing is available to the kitchen then Mr ali is showing his rude behaviour. When we tried to explain him he should not told to the guest like this, he directly blame us that we r wrong at end we didn't had our dinner there and went to other resturent at same platform....<br/><br/>At end of the day it was a very disaster experience in Food plaza and they have lost there 1 customer now. I will tell other people to be careful with that person at food plaza.......<br/><br/>BEWARE FROM MR ALI AT FOOD PLAZA
Kamal Jonwal
A huge food plaza at the South East Railways Terminal of Howrah Station. Serves a variety of cuisines that include north indian, south Indian, Chinese, etc. Their poori korma and biryanis are worth trying. A good place for quality food at Howrah Station.
