Review Golden Dragon Restaurant - Hyderabad

Brendan Mitchell
I recently came all the way from America and dined at the Golden Dragon restaurant, nestled within the luxurious Taj Hotel in Hyderabad, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of spectacular. The food was truly outstanding, boasting an array of flavors that delighted my taste buds in every bite. Each dish was masterfully crafted, showcasing the essence of authentic cuisine. However, what truly elevated my dining experience was the exceptional service provided by Nishant. His attentiveness and dedication ensured that our afternoon was memorable and delightful. I am immensely grateful for the incredible service and delectable food at the Golden Dragon—truly an unforgettable dining affair. I Can’t wait to come back 🙏🏾

Food was great. Waited a long time for the entre course and had to ask for it a couple times. Atmosphere was ok. We were seated by a private room and that could get loud, (understandably so as they had a birthday party etc.) But that meant our table couldn't hold a conversation without repeating ourselves. If I visit again, I would sit in a different spot.

Worth the money. Had Lobster here and it was really good. The atmosphere and the service is very good. This is the best Chinese fine dining restaurant in the city.

Probably the best Chinese restaurant in Hyderabad. Service was quick. It took around 12 mins for the starters (Honey Crispy chicken) to arrive. Would strongly recommend trying that if you’re looking for something that’s not spicy. Honey Crispy Chicken was great. The main course took around 15 mins to arrive. We ordered Pan Fried Noodles (with mixed meat and Kung Pao sauce) which was excellent. If you’re not a fan of lamb, then would recommend sticking to just the chicken version. The ambience was a 10/10. Soft music, great aromas. They service complimentary jasmine tea is very fascinating tea pots. Quite an experience.

Have eaten here with colleagues. Really delicious food in the Golden Dragon. Great taste. The staff is friendly and the service is great. This restaurant has real class and they know how to serve the guests. Recommended!!

Having been a fan of the Golden Dragon restaurant in Chennai Taj, we wanted to try the one in Hyderabad. And though the menu were different, Chef Anoop was kind enough to modify the food according to our tastes. Really loved the Mountain chicken and crispy corn kernels. Special mention to the complimentary Rose Petal Ice cream.

One of the best restaurents I've ever been to. They made my anniversary a memorable one. The food was good, the hospitality was marvellous and the ambience was terrific. Mr. Khan and the lady who served us were polite and sweet. Highly recommended place 👍 - Hussain

Hadnt payed a visit to Taj in a long time . Headed to Golden Dragon for lunch . Ironically , there was a Golden Dragon in Parklane that i used to like . We had Dimsums , fried rice as a recce. We had the truffle edammame and veg suimai along with Cantonese fried rice . A minor blip in the rice...we had asked for less oil but they dint seem to recollect it. On pointing out , they had it replaced . service was courteous as always and Asmita got a surprise box of chocolates ... The water feature that overlooks GD and Chambers was a real surprise. Having a meal while looking at it was pure bliss . The food was decent nothing wow. Obv one visit isn't sufficient to know their strengths. Need to check out what the resto claims as their best and then take a call..... Price for 2 dimsum platter and fried rice - 2200 inr Inc tax

Great food horrible service…<br/><br/>Great beginning to our meal, but as the evening went along things started to get quite sour... we were literally ignored after our mains were served. A lovely lady who seemed liked a manger promised to bring us our desert menus and pack our remaining mains.... dropped the takeaway parcel and promised to bring back desert menus... 20 mins and no menus... at 60 percent capacity they looked so understaffed... I wonder what would happen at full capacity. <br/><br/>Had to remind staff twice for desert menus, and when they were dropped off, no one really seemed interested in serving us.... we ended up skipping our deserts and waited another 15 minutes for our bill and payment process. <br/><br/>You don’t expect this service from a Taj establishment at these prices..... it’s like as it got busier the wheels just came off the service...... you guys really need to get your staff ratio sorted or have them better trained...<br/><br/>Such a shame, the food and half of our night was really good..... but with service like yesterday, unfortunately I will only remember the second half, or rather forget my night at the golden dragon Hyderabad.....

Been to this place for dinner on weekday..the ambience is awesome..and coming to food..ordered corn n coriander soup, which was just okay.<br/>Water chestnut with lotus stems was v good, dipped in chilli honey sauce.<br/>Pan fried noodles are a must try with kung pao diced chicken. Overall experience was great..the Taj experience..

The food was exquisite! In particular, I have mention the lotus stem appetiser, the spareribs and the sticky date pudding! The ambience is cozy and the service was excellent. Make sure you get the jasmine tea as it is served in unique kettles.

The view outside is good, food is average and I feel it’s not value for money. We had Sunday Brunch which included drinks and is priced at 2000/-. This is not the best Chinese I have eaten. I had eaten Tangra and Chinese food all my childhood in Calcutta and all around the globe due to my work. It’s not about the money it’s about the taste, I feel Lee’s Kitchen in Banjara Hills is better at least taste wise, ambience is better in Taj Krishna. Lee’s Fried ice cream is a thing to die for. The starters in Golden Dragon was very limited and there was no prawns option even when they are charging 2000/- per person for the brunch. Overall neither me nor my family was happy as it was below our expectations as Taj name gave us high hopes.

Ambience goes first a warm welcoming atmosphere with an sectional view of garden on a side and waterfalls on the other .<br/>Food is great perfect Chinese .<br/>Polite staff.<br/>Jasmine tea is a must !

One if my favourite Chinese restaurant in all the Indian cities. Though the Peking duck wasn't upto the mark, the overall experience was similar to any other Golden Dragon restaurants.

A true 5 star ambience with great water falls, nice decor & great service. Ordered garlic coriander & hot traditional soup both were good. Lotus stem starter was superb. Garlic burnt rice ok , pan fried noodles outstanding
Dinika Jain
Amazing view, good ambience.<br/>Lemon and ginger soup was good, the spicy soup listed in vegetarian options was okay ( we had it without mushrooms)<br/>Lotus stem in honey was tasty ( a little sweet and crispy)<br/>Ginger fried rice was good.
Faisal Khan
The food was directly proportional to the hotel- extravagant, yet classy. If you picture a 5 Star Chinese experience, this is one of the epitomes in Hyderabad. Whatever dish they serve is excellent, but what takes the cake is the Sweet and Sour Fish. Truly marvelous- fresh, crispy fish served with a thick and sticky sauce. <br/>A must try for all you Chinese food lovers out there.
Surela Chakraborty
The food was awesome and the ambience was so calm and peaceful. The service was top knotch and the whole experience was just perfect. This has become my go to place when it comes to authentic Chinese cuisine

My first luxury dining experience in Hyderabad. It is the Golden Dragon from my hometown just better I guess. The staff is too polite and very welcoming. The ambience is brilliant considering the Chinese theme the restaurant sets. Went for the high end Chef special menu and let me say, it made my day. Would definitely come back once more before I leave town.<br/><br/>Food - 5/5; Alcohol - 5/5; Ambience - 5/5; Staff - 5/5

The first thing you notice about the place is it's quietness and then the ambience. A perfect place for an evening hangout. The variety of food is good and the staff is courteous. I had some crispy vegetables, virgin Mary, chilli garlic noodles and all of them were awesome. The place is done up well I mean the decor and the food is sumptuous. crowd is classy given that it's a five star hotel so is the price which is heavy on the pocket, but the place is worth visiting.<br/><br/>ambience: 4/5<br/>food: 4/5<br/>value for money: 3.5/5

If you want some safe Chinese food... And good service... Just go here.<br/><br/>This place serves good authentic Chinese food.<br/><br/>The service is outstanding. A guy named gyan.. We ask for him everytime.<br/><br/>He suggests good dishes. He double checks that we are happy with the food.<br/><br/>If we are not happy... He proactively gets it fixed.<br/><br/>This is value for money (although it is expensive) and top class service.<br/><br/>Burnt garlic chicken is good in appetizer.<br/>Stir fried diced chicken is good in main course<br/>Lamb dimsum is good<br/>The hakka noodles and seafood fried rice are good<br/>

#GastroHogger #ChefKuanLai #TajKrishna #ReviewMode<br/>Few chefs show their passion and charisma via a very engaging conversation and one of them in my blogging experience is Chef Kuan Lai (Kuan Kitchen Club) who is Hyderabad again in collaboration with Olive Tree Trading (exquisite ingredients supplier) to promote their products mainly on "Bowl of Jasmine" aka thai jasmine rice. This time, the "Pan Asian Inspiration" is hosted at one of the elite brands of hospitality, Golden Dragon, Taj Krishna. Having already an immaculate dinner experience at Zega , Sheraton , I was sure Chef's dinner invite @ Taj is going to be whole another level.<br/><br/>#BowlOfJasmine - this was the centric theme off our special dinner @ Golden Dragon, Taj Krishna with Chef himself alongside. Focus was on the amazing and aromatic Jasmine rice and complimenting curries and other dishes. Also known as "Thai Hom Mali", this fragrant rice was as impressive as it can get.<br/><br/>Dinner as such was one of the best dinners for me in 2017 & favorites were as follows:<br/><br/>#GrillLemonGrassSpringChicken - amazing chicken served with rice cakes on lettuce bed alongside sauce(s). The crunchy cook on the chicken was perfect.<br/><br/>#PhoGa aka #ChickenNoodleSoup was amalgamation of subtle flavors with chicken in 3 forms (chicken balls, slices and sausage slices) and the broth was HEAVENLY<br/><br/>#NasiGoreng - OMG. Been a long while since I had an authentic one and you know what, the home made peanut sauce with crunchy peanuts on top, elevated it to whole another level. KILLER DISH of the night<br/><br/>#BasilStirFryChicken with #BowlofJasmine Jasmine rice, is a match made in heaven. The super crunchy curry leaves and contrastly spicy chicken alongside aromatic chicken rice cannot be explained in a foodie's mindset but has to be relished.<br/><br/>Desserts this time were out of the world kind.<br/>#RubyWaterChestNut with #SagoCoconutCream - This dish could easily deceive anyone. Looks so simple but the contrasting flavor profiles it brings in is simple brilliant. TASTE IT to believe it. The water chestnut was sumptuous.<br/><br/>#EightTreasureCoconutJelly - Aptly called by Chef as "Wellness dessert" the history behind it as amazing as the dish itself. I will detail it out in my blog soon<br/><br/>#RedBeanCreamSesamePeanutDumpling - THE SHOWSTOPPER OF THE NIGHT for me. The dessert dumpling when had in the drenched red bean cream with strong dose of peanut sauce was delectable on the highest quotient.<br/><br/>Not to forget my all time fav from chef #BeefRendangCurry and the aromatic #JasmineTea were perfect additions to the dinner.<br/><br/>One should oversee the brilliant support from Chef Zackriah Whangeen from Chef Kuan's team and the hospitality team headed by Vijay Kumar. Overall this dinner to me, defined "A PERFECT FINE DINING EXPERIENCE"

This is the best Chinese restaurant in Hyderabad without a doubt. CHEF Tony from Hong Kong will stir up some amazing dishes form his work. Butter garlic prawns , honey chilly lotus stem, the gold old jiang jin chicken is a must try. By the way jiang jin is not on the @menu. They also have a Sunday brunch called Yum Cha that serves some fantastic dim sums and<br/>su mai with unlimited ice flavoured ice tea and beer. The set up is very well planned and designed. They also have 2 private dining areas for big families. Meet Manas who is the supervisor of the restaurant and get his reccomendation on what to eat. This place always surprises you with their food.<br/><br/>

Very friendly staff and top notch customer service. I went for a quiet dinner with my brother and 6 month old baby. The staff took extra care to ensure that we had a good time and we could eat as they attended to the baby.<br/><br/>Food was amazing. Crispy fried veg is a must try. <br/>

We visited the Golden Dragons in Taj Krishna on the occasion of our first marriage anniversary. We had a wonderful time. The food was awesome. A celebrity chef from Malaysia is visiting the restaurant and he will be available till 20th December. Because of that, the restaurant is serving some selected signature dishes of the Malaysian chef apart from their regular menu. These dishes are specially made by the chef himself. Out of these dishes, we ordered a non-veg soup with rice noodles, crab meat spring rolls and a smoked chicken preparation. All of these 3 were served with some sauces. As part of the main course, we ordered the 3 flavored chicken noodles and a lobster dish. Both the taste and presentation of these 5 dishes were impeccable. <br/><br/>While we were having the main course, the celebrity chef himself came and interacted with us. When he came to know of our anniversary, he said he would give us a surprise. So, for dessert he prepared two of his favorite dishes. One was peanut and sesame filled dumpling along with a sauce prepared from orange peel. If you dig into the dumpling along with all the stuffings and have it with the sauce, it does wonder to your pallate. The other dish was prepared from cocunut, litchi, agar agar and honey. It had a gelatinous texture but at the same time was light. Both the desserts were absolutely delightful. The desserts were complimentary for us for our special day. The dinner ended with a nice chocolate anniversary cake. <br/><br/>The ambiance is very nice and cosy. The staff are very cordial. Each a every staff including the celebrity chef came down to our table to wish us. We had a wonderful time. We are glad that our visit coincided with the visit of the celebrity chef which gave us a chance to enjoy some of his signature dishes. Anybody having a palate for Chinese cuisine can visit this place.

Amazing ambience and great sitting arrangement with excellent service and personal attention by the staff made our evening memorable. We are on celebration of our Silver wedding anniversary and visit to Hyderabad and stay in Taj Krishna was part of celebrations. <br/><br/>I opted for a teachers 50 large and wife oredered a veg wonton soup. Post soup n drink we ordered for a starter whole mashroom in bean golden glaze sauce. The starter was just perfect and very tasty and succulent. For main course we ordered burnt garlic veg rice and chinese exotic vegetables stir fried in Cantonese sauce. Our waitor Amul also served us with golden glaze sauce. The fried rice and glaze sauce went well together. I also loved the stir fried veg in Cantonese sauce. The taste of the main course was subtle and non spicy. Amazing food , pricing not heavy, service excellent and ambience lovely. I would like to return here for more n more exotic food. You guys rock... <br/>

Been here for a company dinner, excellent food - crispy fried Honey chilli chicken and egg fried rice are a must try. For people with a taste for Chinese- This is one of the finest Chinese places in Hyderabad.

Went to this place to try their Sunday Brunch. The spread was good. Lots of options for veg and non veg. Starters were good and the Momo's excellent. The Mocktails are a must try here. Desserts didn't have too many options. They serve Jasmine tea in the end which is excellent and shouldn't be missed.

Sub standard food and decor for the price being charged. Also, approximate cost mentioned by Zomato is highly incorrect. Staff was courteous and well behaved.

Undoubtedly, one of the best places for Chinese food in Hyderabad, if not in the entire country. The vegetarian options are very tasty, as I am sure the rest of the cuisine is. Unfortunately, we did not have the capacity to sample all the vegetarian options! Wish we could have done that! Worth several repeat visits.

The ambience of this place just blows you away and it has to be the single best thing about this restaurant. The food is standard fare and is presented well. Tucked away in a quiet corner of the hotel with several private dining rooms available, it’s a good place to take your guests when you want a pleasant environment to talk in.

I never had such a tasty food and reception from a reputed Hotel like this before since it was so beautifully served and taste was mesmerising ..It was a room service but still couldn't get a place to express my feeling for the food elsewhere .Thanks Taj Krishna team.

After long gap yesterday we visited golden dragon. ambience and service is excellent but non veg dishes are average in taste and Veg dishes is not good we are not at all satisfied. it is not worthble as costed.<br/>Taj is not the same as before

I have been to this place atleast a dozen times by now.. i used to love this place.. from hospitality to food everything was wonderful<br/><br/>But now it has gone down a lot.. we went for new year dinner and the quality of food was much lower.. dimsums, starters, fried rice everything was not upto the mark.very dissapointed🙁

Was taken to this restaurant by a friend and it was totally worth it. Right from the decor to the food it gives u a feel that you are in a authentic chinese restaurant. The waiters are friendly and guide you along the menu. They were courteous enough to make a drink that was not on the menu.<br/><br/>We ordered the crispy lotus stem with water chestnut and the whole mushrooms in chilli bean glaze. Both of these starters were very good and one of the best that u can find anywhere. Coming to the main course we ordered pan fried Cantonese noodles with vegetables. These were a mix of soft and crispy noodles. It wasent very spicy and u could taste the vegetables. Perfect for some1 who cant handle too spicy food. The tea that they serve was also very mild and pleasant.<br/><br/>All in all it is a perfect and peaceful place to catch up with friends n family over some really good asian food. U also get a view of the waterfall that they have outside, which by the way not many restaurants have.<br/><br/>

Got the chance today to visit this luxurious restaurant of Taj Krishna. We ordered the pre setup menu from the restaurant with all the chef specials items. The cost was on higher side 4500 per person. Food was Okay. I liked the fried lotus stick on the starters. Attraction was jasmine flavour tea. Overall experience was good.

Been to their Sunday Brunch on October 2, since it was gandhi jayanthi it was a dry day and hence no alcohol could be served, the zomato listing shows a different price for alcholic and non alcoholic but when i went to the place there was no such option and the price was the same 2k AI per person. They have a fixed menu where everything is served on the table. Golden dragon's ambience is definitely the best ambience in terms of chinese places in hyderabad. The food was top notch loved every starter, main courses and the deserts.

Very rarely do I give a restaurant 5/5. Have been coming here since childhood and everything is just as fabulous as it's always been. The ambience is brilliant. Totally love their jasmine tea that is served using their signature long brown rustic kettles. The dimsums, especially edammane and squash are just mouth watering. Have tired multiple main courses items and everything is cooked to perfection. The tiramisu here is mind blowing too. All in all, if you don't mind splurging on food & drinks, this should be high on your list.

Great place, great food and great ambience ! A nice place to have dinner with family on a weekend ! The staff is courteous and on point with their service ! A place to go to, to have royal Chinese food ! It even has PDR's for a group.

Quiet place tucked away in a corner in Taj Krishna.<br/>The place has decor which tells you ...yes, they serve Chinese food. :-)<br/>Dishes are delicious ...perfect taste & presentation.<br/><br/>I like the place & go here when I don't mind spending little more than usual.

Staying at the hotel makes it easy to just walk down to the restaurant. Beautiful and quiet ambience. Lovely staff. Had crabmeat sweet corn soup for starters followed by veg hokka noodles & diced chicken in chilli and hunan sauce. Delicious to say the least. The mandrine cremebule is yummy. <br/><br/>Very steep on the pocket. <br/><br/>Wish they served half portion of the crispy duck for solo diners like myself.
SaumyataM
Full points for the ambience and the staff. They go extra mile in making you comfortable and ensures that one gets a taste of true TAJ experience. Right from selecting the table, to making adjustments for a toddler, to customizing the food as per the toddler and explaining each dish. The jasmine tea served from a huge copper tea-pot, which makes for a visual treat but tastes as-usual. We ordered, our regular stuff - sweet chilli water chestnuts, pan fried noodles in pepper sauce, hot & sour soup and fish in burnt garlic sauce (plus beer). I have to say, that the food was nice but not really worth the money you spend here. A meal for two costed us around 5K, I wouldn't want to visit here regularly but wouldn't mind the place (and the damages) on special occasions !

Visited this place for a late lunch during our stay at the same hotel. <br/><br/>First look, this place is beautiful and cozy, the interiors are not too hard on the eyes. <br/><br/>Coming to the food we ordered <br/><br/>Clear wonton soup<br/>Butter Fried garlic prawns <br/>Pan fried noodles with chicken and vegetables <br/>Mandarin Creme Brulee. <br/><br/>The wontons were delicious and the soup overall set the mood for the rest of the lunch. <br/>Butter fried garlic prawns were very delicious and crunchy. Really enjoyed this dish. A portion gives you 6.<br/>Pan fried noodles is enough for around 3-4 people actually. It was very heavy for us as we were only two people. Nevertheless, there were lot of veggies and loads of noodles too! <br/><br/>The Creme Brulee was a disappointment, the sugar didn't crack properly,it was too thin, almost non existent. The Brulee itself wasn't set properly, it was very very eggy. <br/>The bill came upto 4.5k including tax. <br/>Great service and good jasmine tea! <br/><br/>Ambience - 3.5/5<br/>Food - 4/5<br/>Service - 5/5<br/>Pricing - 4/5. The quantity of food per plate was appreciable.

One of the perks of being a food blogger is getting front row access to a Masterchef cooking session with Taj Krishna’s resident masterchef himself – Hung Fong Ng aka Chef Tony.An invaluable part of Golden Dragon – Hyderabad’s top Chinese fine-dining restaurant – for over a decade now, Chef Tony brings to the table authentic Chinese cuisine he learnt and mastered in Hong Kong, his hometown. And he’s sharing that expertise with patrons of Golden Dragon’s special yumcha lunch sessions on Sundays. The Sparkling Yumcha promo includes a wide range of starters, soups, dimsums, main course and unlimited champagne and dessert at Rs 1750 all inclusive.

The ambience Is just great like back to another era.. loved to sit n dine.. the Asian (Chinese) slow music and outside view add to it.. service n staff really good .. specially jasmine tea served in a huge copper pot .. but not impressed by the quality of food for the money charged .. though will go again just for ambience ..

No matter how many times i visit this place either for lunch or dinner, this place never fails to impress in its hospitality or the food. The best Chinese restaurant in the city and one should not miss the dimsums, burnt garlic fried rice, chilli lotus stem to name a few <br/><br/>I personally like to go during the afternoon time as this restaurant overlooks a water feature which makes the ambience inside feel great <br/><br/>The jasmine tea what they serve is quite refreshing, a must go for anyone who is looking to try Chinese cuisine<br/>

Taj hospitality not the same as before- I decided to visit Golden dragon after a long gap as I had a guest from abroad and was really in mood for some good chinese. Unaware that the place closes sharp at 2:45 PM I reached just 5 mts late at 2:50 PM , but to my surprise my request was turned down by the front manager..... Now if this would have been a time which I recollect from my past, I would probably have been treated differently and some adjustment would surely have been made but alas taj is not the same. It was embarrassing with a guest along with me and I very much might never visit the place again.

Been going here since I was a little girl and I had a great experience today. The food and service were spot on. I loved the truffle edemame dumplings and the sticky rice main. The jasmine tea was fairly good too. Definitely going back soon. Thanks for an amazing time always.

Excellent Chinese cuisine. Great Ambience, very attentive service and good food. I should suggest this restaurant to stick to your simple dishes and not go too innovative as your simple dishes are a lot better in taste and everything. Kudos for maintaining your quality all these years.

Visited this place recently for our anniversary and its spot on if one's looking for luxury fine dining (& an occasional splurge). Ambience - authentic & soothing; the staff -very attentive & courteous -keep offering jasmine tea (poured from the long spout tea pot), which is equally relaxing. We ordered the Chicken Coriander & Veg Wonton Soups along with Crispy Chengdu Lotus Stem & Whole Mushrooms Pepper for starters -the lotus stem, being the only stand out of the lot. For main course we had the Corn Kernels & Brocolli Sauce & Vegetable Chilli Garlic Noodles- while the sauce was a downer, the noodles more than made up for it with the taste & portion.<br/>Food & value for money: 3/5<br/>Ambience & service: 4.5/5<br/>All in all, a great place, but only for the genuine Chinese dining experience.

Had a very exceptional experience tonight at Golden Dragon. The service staff was helpful and went out of their way to make me and my wife feel special. I celebrated my birthday here recently and all the food choices were delicious. They said the master chef is from HK. The food definitely tasted so to back that claim up. This restaurant has the best char siu bao's I've tasted since NYC Chinatown! We also ordered prawn shumai and pan fried Cantonese style noodles with seafood (bird's nest as my family calls them). The topper was towards the end of the meal. Even after ordering dessert, the wait staff came out with an exquisite chocolate cake and sang Happy Birthday to me. Phenomenal service and authentic tasting Chinese food. Will be definitely coming back here again!

No wonder why a Brand is a Brand! The premium quality, awesome hospitality, scrumptious dishes make Taj more premium this time. I was quite impressed with the chinese and the kind of dishes offered to eat. I cannot remember one which I said frown or thought could have been better. The starter - burn garlic chicken was mouth watering enough to ask for again and again. The different prawn dishes, mutton and lamb, fish , tofu, baby corn , every dish was cooked so perfectly I had no choice but to taste all of them. For a second, I pause to think , is this me eating all and shamelessly? <br/><br/>The main course was equally tasty and impressive enough to remember. The Chinese preparation put shame to many other chain restaurants stamping authenticated Chinese delicacy and dishes cost an earth! All we need to do is so season them all to make them taste perfect! However at Golden Dragon, it was a treat to remember and compliment to the entire team and the chef for such a lovely preparation. <br/><br/>Only thing that didnt meet the expectation was the dessert! No worries... its a small incident and can happen after scoring 100 out of 100.

It's not the greatest of places to go to for Chinese food in Hyderabad ... Been to this place so many times and the service has always been consistently good but the food that's another story "it goes from exceptional to average" ... On the wed this week went for lunch ... For the appetizer we had the Crispy Chicken with Red Chillies and Garlic (average), Chicken Black Pepper Sauce (below average), and Garlic Burnt Garlic and Spring Onion Fired Rice "with egg" (average) ... Now at golden dragon you don't like food it's like literally burning money "foods maybe twice the cost of a good Chinese Restaurant outside" ... The previous time we had food here it was very good

This place is a hidden gem.<br/>Ambience is extraordinarily good.the lights & decor are just perfect .Food is delicious.<br/>What more could we ask for.except for that pocket burning prices.rest of the dinner was awesome <br/>The chicken wonton soup was one the best I had & the pepper schezwan sauce chicken was mouth watering.

Golden dragon is very overrated. I dont understand how it had won so many awards. Taj Krishna is a beautiful hotel and I love how Golden Dragon is located here. It looks awesome inside and the seating is very comfortable. For appetizers I ordered some chicken which i cant remember the name of, soy chili fish and chicken dumplings. The chicken was very good. The soy chili fish was good. The dumplings were alright. The outside part was too mushy. For mains, I ordered the chicken fried rice, diced shezwan chicken, and chicken noodles. The shezwan chicken was very good and it tasted so good with the fried rice. But, the fried rice tasted a little bland alone. The noodles were by far the best noodles I have ever eaten in India. I loved it. Another this which was great was that the quantities for the main courses are very big. You dont have to order again and again. Onto the service, My waitor was very nice. He assisted me with the menu and suggested me what to order. He also never let our plates to be empty. This place has good food but its nothing unique. You can get this type of food almost anywhere. Golden dragon is very expensive and you would expect more from a 5 star hotel. But its still good and I may return. But there are better chinese restaurants in India like Urban Asia, Ohm, Holy Basil

Super nice place to be with friends and family <br/>The food is really good <br/>Specially the momos during the momo festival <br/>The ambience is warm and enjoyable with a welcoming jasmine tea <br/>Macadamia nuts are incredible <br/>The mushroom and waterchestnut vegetable is worth trying

I visited this restaurant on Sunday for the brunch with my family and indeed it was an amazing time. The menu had great variety and the flavours were perfect. Our meal started with an array of starters ranging from mouthwatering fish and lamb dimsums to sui mais and baos. The lemon and garlic soup was a delight to my taste buds. We also loved the noodles and the other main course preparations. To top it up the basil panacotta along with the vanilla ice cream and orange flavoured darshan added a fine balance to the meal. I would recommend everyone to try it out as it is truly a great food experience.

When you are here in Hyderabad coming to the Taj is a must and then when are deciding what to eat, you really just can't go wrong with of the best Chinese restaurants in the city, start with clear lemon coriander soup, lots of starters, burnt garlic rice and then of course the good old honey fried noodles that they make so good that you can eat just so many of them!!

Worth burning pockets !<br/>This is a Chinese restaurant in Taj Krishna serves you the bestest class of Chinese in Hyderabad. Not a fan of fine dining but this one must try.

We went to Golden Dragon on 26th of May to celebrate my Mom-in-law's birthday. We had made a prior telephonic reservation for table of 5. <br/><br/>Subtle yellow lights and very soothing atmosphere. As soon as I entered, I could feel the essence of wheat grass. We made ourselves comfortable. I took keen interest on the Chinese calligraphy on the back of the chair which indicates good fortune. They had four of them - spring, luck, prosperity and long life. Well the first page of the menu describes about all of these calligraphy and their meanings.<br/><br/>Moving to the food, we ordered sweet corn vegetable broth, vegetable wonton soup, manchow soup(off the menu) along with vegetable spring rolls. We enjoyed all the varieties of soup and starter as well. But, manchow soup was very hot for my taste bud. I had to actually lick some ketchup.<br/><br/>We ordered for wok tossed Hakka noodles with vegetables, Szechwan vegetable fried rice, fried vegetable wantons (basically, veg manchurian) along with some assorted vegetables cooked in blackbean sauce. Very subtle flavours of all the spices and ingredients were present in noodles and rice. Blackbean sauce was okay... Could have been better. Black beans were bit hard and sticky. We were too full to order for any dessert, so we didn't. Moreover, we already had a chocolate cake waiting to be cut.<br/><br/>Lastly, we had a cake cut. Chocolate cake was very delicious, soft with not much of sweetness. In fact, I could smell and taste some rum as well. ;)<br/><br/>After all the celebrations, when we were departing, we had some mouth fresheners - one made with orange peel and the other with plum berry. Must say, I just loved both of these. Very different, sweet and sour, gives a kick to the brain as well as taste bud. <br/><br/>Overall, we had a great time and experience. Ankush Garg

Went here on Mother's day with my family - The hospitality of Taj Hotels was written all over the place. <br/><br/>We preferred ordering from the a'la carte menu - taichin chicken and crispy potato - finger licking good. <br/><br/>In addition, we ordered the Non-Vegetarian Bao which was also really good. The dipping sauces were yummy. <br/><br/>The jasmine tea served with a long nozzle tea pot almost gave us a spa like feeling. <br/><br/>Main course was good too - cost was on the expensive side, but good for special occasions.

I must say that the rice noodles are great and have gone there only for the noodles more than 3 times, the ambience is very good!<br/><br/>Consider going here for a special occasion... I am sure you will enjoy!

The ambience of this place is amazing...it reminds you of a palace in ancient times. <br/>We ordered the glass noodle spring roll for starters which was decent....the sauce that was served was sweet and sour.<br/>For main course we ordered pan fried noodles. Fried noodles was first served and then the gravy with several exotic vegetables was served on top. The combination was very nice.<br/>We did not order dessert as there was nothing appealing.<br/>Rates are high but that is expected in a star hotel.<br/>Jasmine tea (which they will serve on request) deserves a special mention as it is served in a fancy big flask!<br/>Definitely worth a one time visit!

The exclusive ambience is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the day we visited Golden Dragon for lunch on our 2nd anniversary. The service and hospitality added to our special day and the entire staff gathered together for our cake cutting...but all this aside the food was way below my expectation.

Was quite a disappointing visit to what used to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in town...ordered some house special margaritas which were terrible and despite asking to change the same to classic margarita..it was bad...food was average and same for the service..bad experience esp when the charges are the highest. ..never again to the golden dragon

Service 8<br/><br/>Taste 8<br/><br/>Ambiance 8<br/><br/>Value for money 8<br/><br/>5 star service for the 5 star menu.. to get in to the restaurant is more confusing than anything else!!!

By far one of the best Chinese restaurants in hyderabad and definitely the most expensive! One of the few Chinese restaurants that still serves the date pancake with ice cream dessert. Awesome!

Excellent food, I can say best & authentic Chinese food. <br/>Manchow soup was awesome and we have ordered fried rice with mix veg in devil sauce, gravy was something extra ordinary.<br/>Only 1 minus point is quantity! It is very less compare any other restaurants.

In the hidden corner of the taj hotel, is located golden dragon. Perfect ambience for a group of people to meet and chat. Try out pork and fish delicacies.

Disappointed and dissatisfied. <br/>I called to reverve a table for 5 and which was confirmed. When i went there along with my folks i was so embarrassed that my reservation was given to some one else.<br/><br/>And the explanation provided was neither true and wasn't intended to resolve the situation. <br/><br/>Way to go. You seriously have to go down to get the basics right.

Many restaurants serve a good meal today! Any chef worth is Mettle knows what he's doing! Then what sets some of these places apart from the others and why is the higher cost justified. All questions are answered at the golden dragon at the taj Krishna in Hyderabad. For starters as you enter the taj Krishna lobby itself the excitement and anticipation starts to build. <br/><br/>The interiors are very traditional and the whole environment is just so calming that it's almost like going to a spa. The service is exemplary. The act of serving is an act to be enjoyed from the long spouted tea kettles to the gracefulness of the hostesses everything sets the mood for a special evening.<br/><br/>The food is quite good, nothing that you won't find anywhere elSe but that's not the point! The idea is to eat good food in an exemplary setting. And we were not disappointed. The prices are also pretty reasonable for the calibre of restaurant. Infact being from Bombay I found they were at par with most standalone Chinese restaurants in Bombay like royal china etc. so you can expect to spend about 2000/head with a bottle of indian wine! I think that's spectacular value for such a special experience. <br/><br/>However if only food matters to you and not the ambience and experience you may want to look elsewhere. For me it was a very special evening though! And I would not mind repeating it sometime in the future!

We went to this place on a Sunday. We had a Sunday brunch, loved this place to the core. Awesome food and ambience would love to visit this place again.

This was our first visit to the Golden Dragon Restaurant for lunch at Taj Krishna. Point-wise feedback:<br/><br/>1. Staff - Attentive and cooperative (4/5)<br/><br/>2. Food Quantity - Fairly good given the total number of people (4/5). We ordered Veg. Manchurian with gravy and they were accommodating enough to provide us extra gravy on request.<br/><br/>3. Food Quality & Taste - Perfect. (4.5/5). It was neither too spicy nor too bland. I would say it was just perfect for the kids who are not habitual to having too spicy food.<br/><br/>4. Presentation - Good. (4/5).<br/><br/>5. Cost - Fairly High

I have visited this place twice now. Once a few weeks ago when I ate à la carte and last Sunday for their brunch.<br/>I had a pork dish as a starter and duck as a main course, quite honestly both dishes were extraordinarily good. This is by far the best Chinese I had to this date in Hyderabad.<br/><br/>Then coming to the brunch, that was okay really. Price wise it is really good, but the choice of food isn't their best of the menu I feel. Their starters (pepper chicken, pepper lamb and some fish) were good, but these are very traditional dishes in Indian-Chinese places. The dim sums were good, but again nothing extraordinary here. The main course were a bit of a let down actually, because again it is the standard stuff you get in any Chinese place here. All in all, their brunch was okay, mostly because it is rather cheap and their sparkling wine is good :-)<br/>But I wouldn't visit it again for the brunch, the menu has far better stuff on offer, although you'll end up paying more though.<br/><br/>One "shocker" though: When I paid Sunday they gave me all my change in pre 2005 notes, I'm certain they know that the RBI has this to say about these notes: "All older series of banknotes issued prior to 2005 would be acceptable for all kinds of monetary transactions only till March 31, 2014.". Clearly after March 31, 2014... I feel this is quite shameful for a five star hotel. No idea why they think it is acceptable giving their customers old notes? I assume they have staff to send to the bank to change these notes? Why should I do their job... Also wondering whether it is because they, wrongly, assume that I am just a tourist passing through so they can simply give it to me?<br/><br/>I still give them 4.5 out of 5 though, but the old rupee notes leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Best Chinese Food in Hyderabad. Ofcourse it's Expensive but incomparable to any other.

Visited this place to celebrate my wife's bday with my mom. My mom is a STRICT no to chinese but having heard so much about this place, somehow convinced her for that day...<br/><br/>Royal interiors, with high ceiling, chandeliers, curtains etc..a true star experience...Staff are friendly too....<br/><br/>We ordered for some starters and soup and all were decent.. they served complimentary chinese tea, which was normal...<br/><br/>Main course was something, which was extraordinary....I am fond of pan fried noodles and wat they served there was just too delicious... can say among the best i ever had.. craving to go there again just to have this pan fried noodles... rice and side dishes were also tasty.. side dish was full of imported vegetables, whichc again me and my wife are fond of.. so a perfect treat for us.. matching our taste buds....<br/><br/>Were given a complimentary bday cake, which we could have, as we were already very full..<br/><br/>The comment from my mom says it all : "I didnt knew chinese food can be prepared so well, what i had earlier was not chinese i must say.. it was very good"<br/><br/>Thanks Taj, for such a wonderful experience!!!!

Some places in Hyderabad are just the best! And when you've had an evening your wife had actually dreamt of (cos she never thought I would organise a Candle Light Dinner), that place reserves a place in your heart forever. <br/><br/>For our Fifth Wedding Anniversary, I had an idea for a Candle Light Dinner in my mind. However, I did not mention it to the supervisor(Mr.Nissar) and manager (Sudiptho) about what my ideas are. I was walked through what I would have on the evening as part of the Dinner. We Walked-in hand-in-hand, though I told her we were there to meet a friend of mine and would go out for dinner else where. As soon as the staff welcomed us with a bouquet and a gift hamper, with the well lit Golden Dragon garden all for us, she was OVERWHELMED. She did not stop smiling all evening. She could not believe I planned this for her. <br/><br/>Thank you Taj, the staff at Golden Dragon, for that memorable night. The waitress Senti, was apparently a new starter, although she was already upto the standards you expect from the staff at Taj. <br/><br/>The food was delicious, every item on the menu, as the dinner package was outstanding! We were full by the time we had the starters. Main course too was very well presented, perfectly cooked. These are what make your evening worth the money.<br/><br/>Individual rating: <br/>Ambience - 5, what do you expect from a 5 star hotel!!<br/>Food - 4.5 Best Chinese Cuisine in Hyderabad, Desserts were'nt too great (do not like sweets much, but I know which desserts are good)<br/>Service - 5 Hospitality at its best!<br/>Price - 5 What you get there is totally worth it, so I give it a 5<br/><br/>I was a bit sceptical when I read a few reviews here, but we totally enjoyed the food and the private garden :)

I find myself attracted to unique dishes and unique flavours in my travels. I dont mind taking the risk of trying new things and have to fight the temptation of going for the tried and tested dishes that I know I will love.<br/>Well, at Golden Dragon I tried a couple of new dishes and a couple of old ones ... and all of them came out excellent. Not only the new ones were delicious but also the old ones had a different flavour and touch to them.<br/>For starters I tried the Honey chilli lamb: this is an old dish, but here there was a unique thai flavour to it - I asked and was told the key ingredient was lemongrass. Yum!<br/>Also tried the Clear Fish and Mushroom Coriander Soup: A new dish for me. The soup was delicious and refreshing. There was no fishy smell to it and there were a lot of fresh fish pieces in it. Hihly recommended<br/>For mains tried the Steamed Kaylon fish: Another new dish: it was delicious and spicy - again the fish was absolutely fresh and the flavours were unique.<br/>The ambience is exquisite. The restaurant is way in the back of the hotel in the basement and quite a walk, but is worth it. Prices are reasonable for a 5 star.

The food was ok. Service was a little slow. Good ambience. If you want to have authentic Chinese, not the indo Chinese stuff

What a huge fall from grace!<br/><br/>Golden Dragon was one of our favourite places to go for Chinese. The service was great... the Chinese symbols on the chairs was clever, because we always looked as to on what (hope, fortune, etc.) we were sitting on.<br/><br/>But over the years, Golden Dragon has fallen in favour. Recently I visited it with my family. The food was atrociously bad, and everything was oily and sweet. The price was are 6000 rupees for 4 people! Now, I have eaten at Adaa and a few more expensive places, but for 4 dishes, this was excessive... <br/><br/>I would never go there again. If you want good gourmet Chinese food in Hyderabad, try: Mekong in Ameerpet, Urban Asia in Jubilee Hills or Nanking in Secunderabad... they will fill you up, leave you smiling, and won't bother your wallet much.

Worst Chinese food I've had. It's incredible that at these prices almost 4000 rupees for 2 people you would have expected taj to live up to the name. Horrendous is the only word that comes to mind I could have had better food from a road side stall. <br/>Soups were pathetic, lukewarm at best, hot and sour soup was like soya water. Sweet corn was tasting literally sweet. The crispy chili chicken was frozen from the middle. Absolutely horrible food. Can't believe that TAJ has allowed a restaurant to fall to such depths. I've come here after a few years and my god have standards dropped. Can't compare to the golden dragon in Bombay. Stay away people, your money is better spent somewhere else. The only thing nice was the service staff. Thus the 1.5 rating. If anyone from the hotel reads this WAKE UP

There probably is not much I can add to what other commentators have said about this stand out restaurant.<br/><br/>Beautiful venue - excellent general manager, attentive staff.<br/><br/>The chef did a demonstration of how to make noodles at a brunch I attended recently. It was fantastic brunch theater.<br/><br/>And the food - perhaps the most delicious Chinese I have ever had. Being from NYC people talk about the Chinese there, I have to tell you, I think this is better.<br/><br/>I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Golden Dragon.. It is located in Taj Krishna in Banjara Hills.. <br/>In a few words.. Good Food, Great Ambiance, Wonderful Service and Obviously Expensive.<br/>We ordered Steamed Canton Vegetable Sui Mai Dim Sums which was good, Sea Weed Vegetable Clear Soup which was okay, Tofu Tai Chin and Crunchy Water-Chestnuts and Babycorn Garlic Pepper Lemon Flavour in starters which was good too.<br/>In main course we ordered, Wu Nam Rice Noodles and Aromatic Five Spice Flavoured Moon Faan Rice with Chilli Bean Potatoes which were the best.<br/>In desserts we ordered Daarsan with Bailey's Irish Cream. *sinful*<br/>Overall, it was a fulfilling experience which costed us around 1500 per person.<br/>Four stars from me :)

Love the ambience and the food's delicious! Probably the best premium chinese restaurant in town.

This is one of the most consistent restaurants in hyderabad.<br/>Can't remember for how long i've been going here (at least 5 years), and everytime the food doesn't dissappoint.<br/>I konw which dishes i like and usually stick to the same ones - and what i love about it is that they have never once changed in taste.<br/>Sevice is mostly good and ambience ofcorse if quite nice.

Food is as good as it can be expected from TAJ standards, the service was also excellent. There were some dishes which were new and wonderful. The ambience is excellent. It is expensive, but its TAJ. Starter, Soup , Maincourse, Dessert and a bottle of domestic wine was around 5000 including the taxes.<br/> Nice place to celebrate an evening with your partner but i will excuse it if i want just good food.

Probably a notch below Taj Firdaus, the Indian restaurant within the Taj Krishna premises, the Golden Dragon is a wonderful experience. The menu comprises of quite a few dishes that would turn out to be firsts for the lot that prefers chinese over other cuisines. What's also exciting is that the dishes with seafood almost equal poultry and the meats. The standards of ambience and service are pretty similar to Firdaus, which is to say, wonderful! There has been a better place here and there, once in a while for Chinese food, but overall this is fantastic! Waah Taj, is all I can say!
