Review Surabhi Restaurant & Turban Museum - Jaipur

A lovely restaurant with a good selection of curries. Chicken was tough, but the curry sauce was delicious. Great setting and the ambience was improved by a wonderful musician who sang and played various instruments. Once you've finished your meal take a visit to the turban museum which is on the same site.

Wonderful place for a Rajasthani experience. Good and delicious food and service. Difficult to locate, not impressive from outside but good ambiance inside. Turban museum also there showcasing turban history of Rajasthan. Live Rajasthani folk music and dance. Good for outings with family and friends. Liquor options also available. A nice experience.

The food was more expensive than other places, but it was good. The restaurant was a little hard to locate. It is tucked away. The museum is dated, but hey, it gives you something to look at while waiting for your food. The entertainer / musician was funny but since I was the only one there I had to pay him, couldn't get out of that lol. There were people selling stuff right in front and they were quite pushy. I really didn't want anything, but they kept up their pitch from the moment I walked in until I left. Because of that, I wouldn't go back.

A seriously spectacular experience! I can't believe this place isn't more popular. We came on Christmas Eve and were the only ones in the restaurant. The staff were so accommodating and the food was outstanding. The egg curry, banana lassi, fried okra, and kashmiri chai were all delicious. To accompany our dinner, there was a fantastic musician who sang classic songs and played a ravanahatha. I won't be forgetting this experience for a long time.

This is a fine food place for Rajasthani food. Ambiance was nice. Little costly place, they charged ₹600 for a buffet lunch which includes chicken, dhal, brinjal fry, paneer, rice and roti. Service is good. We can experience the authenticity of Rajasthani food and culture. There is a turbain museum attached to it but we missed to visit unfortunately. I'm short, this is a fine place who can afford a bit much money for food and ambiance.

I haven't visited the place yet but as I was trying to reach the curator of Turban museum, she demanded 5000/- rupees just for me to click pictures. Very rude and obnoxious behaviour of the administration instead of helping a student they wanted to take advantage of them. Well museum is not even a museum it's full of wrong information and is in pathetic condition. I don't know about the restaurant i hope it's all fine but according to me never ever visit the museum. Your Administration sucks. P.S:- i gave them 5 stars because i want my review to be on top.

Mouthwatering dishes, great service and mesmerizing entertainers

We tried their unlimited Thali - which was delicious ( combination of a few Rajasthani dishes and the obvious North Indian dishes) and reasonable priced ( Rs. 550). They tried to give a authentic ambience to the whole setting - there is an open courtyard which could be nice in the evenings. The only problem was that they were a bit in a hurry to have us complete the meal - could have just informed they were approaching the closing time for lunch.

Really great place ! The service, the atmosphere, the design of the building. There was 10 of us, it took while before we decided on what to take but food was delicious. It is a little bit pricey - but I assume that we are not going to such a places every day.

Was there in Nov 2007. The place / courtyard was being renovated, so ate under a large tent. The food was absolutely delicious to our Indian palate. We tried various dishes. Shall certainly re-visit.

This restaurant seems like it's from the 1980s. The approach is terrible....lots of muck and rubbish. The restaurant is not too clean. Dust could be seen everywhere. The decor is 'tacky and confused'.

Food is just about average. Not meant for Indians as the flavour is all diluted. The thali dishes were lukewarm and not hot, the papad was cold and worst of all there's A LOT OF MOSQUITOES AND FLIES. You HAVE to eat with one hand and drive away the flies with the other. Thick jeans and a long sleeved jacket is a MUST to avoid being bitten by the mosquitoes....highly unsafe. We asked for the mosquito coil, which hardly did much as we were bitten a lot. We left most of the chicken as it tasted funny, the Gatte ki sabzi.....I inky had the curry in my katori....no gatte. The keep sangria was decent and the Kadi Pakodi was average. My advice: NOT WORTH IT.

The staff seemed outdated in terms of service standards for today's restaurants. Talking like you belong to a palace doesn't seem right when your nose is up while talking to a customer. The guest comments at the end were a riot....it is full of generic comments as the real deal is available online. LOL. If you need service training, I know an awesome specialist.

Ambience: 2 out of 5
Food: 2 out of 5
Seevice: 2 out of 5
Overall rating: 2 out of 5

Awesome food, great ambience and good live music while we enjoyed our meal. Don't be discouraged by the shady entrance to the restaurant though, it does not do justice with what's waiting inside for you.

Absolutely lovely ambience. We enjoyed our respective thalis. We had the North Indian thali and a Rajasthani one. If you’re looking to try authentic Rajasthani food, you should try this place. We loved it.

The food here is awesome!
We ordered cream of chicken soup, Rajasthani thali & tangdi kabab. Everything was awesome. 😍
Gulab jamun is too good!
The staff was very polite & the service was also quick. The ambience is also very pleasant.
It's a old palace which is converted into a restaurant and also a turban museum which you can visit for free.
There was live music which made it even more pleasant ❤️

Found this restaurant on Zomato, entry is quite shady... Build in heritage house, nothing spectacular about the restaurant... Staff is courteous and friendly... We tried Rajasthani thali and it was good and quite filling... Not too much on their menu however can be tried once for sure...

First of all awesome customer service and behavior. Staffs were very polite and friendly. We had Garlic Naan, Missi Roti, Laal Maas, Kair Sangri, Navaratna Korma, Lime Soda etc. All of them tastes very good. Also we got to see live folk music and rajasthani dance. Very nice place.

The best Meal I had on my trip! The owner himself suggested us the food and oh it was awesome! Must try their CTBM and Laal maans! The turban museum adds to it.

What a palace! Takes you back to the old royal days and we'll the staff treated us like one. Loved the folk dance show. The staff was very attentive and the food added to it all. Superb place!

I didn’t realize it when I ordered (due to the acronym “CTBM”), but when I told my server that it tasted like someone had merged Butter Chicken with Chicken Masala, he confirmed that’s what it is! Chicken Tikka Butter Masala!! Utterly amazing!!! Had it with some cumin rice and garlic naan.
The service was fantastic (I went there for lunch at 2pm....had the place pretty much to myself).

Definitely coming back again!!!
Best thing about the place as soon as you reach here is the small open space, gives you the feeling of dining at your own courtyard house. Then there is soothing live music and great food. This place is quite under stated and bit difficult to search on the google maps though.

I had gone to Surbhi Restaurant and Turban Museum for dinner with my 3 other friends.
It was an experience, true Rajasthani hospitality.
1.As we entered we were greeted by Mr. Pravesh who took care of us for the entire evening and such a gentleman he is.
2. We were introduced to the live musicians and as soon as they began playing, I must admit we were pleasantly surprised. Great entertainment.
3. The restaurant is set in side a Haveli, the seating is spacious and there is alot of open space too.
4. Food!!!! We had ordered for chicken lehsuni tikka and thali. It was a treat for our taste buds.
Highly recommended. 👍 👌

In today's times, when most of the restaurants and eating joints have become too congested and claustrophobic,Surabhi comes as a rejuvenating breath of fresh air. One of the reasons why I enjoy immensely visiting the restaurant is the open space it offers. Mostly for the tourists,Surabhi offers a very elite and sophisticated ambience, which makes one's experience a lot more soothing and comforting.Another masterstroke is the Rajasthani folk dance by the artists that not only entertains but also gives you a true picture of the state. However, my biggest takeaways from Surabhi have always been the humble hospitality and delicious dishes. It'll be extremely tough to recommend just one dish as I have as many as 4 favorites. The mouthwatering Mutton Sula, the pleasing Panner Tikka Masala, the palatable Kadhai Paneer and above all, the mellow Mewari Gutta Pulao.
Surabhi has all the qualities you need to have to make your evening an enjoyable one. A perfect blend of ambience, hospitality, quietness and luscious dishes. How many restaurants can guarantee you all in one?
Go for it.

"Padharo Mhare Des", most welcome to my homeland, people in Jaipur are taking these words to another level.

The most beautiful thing about Rajasthan so far has been the warmth and hospitality of people whether it comes from a cab driver or a random passer by. But the warmth I felt at Surabhi was the zenith of Rajasthani hospitality.

Surabhi restaurant and turban museum is not situated in some glittery urban area but you have to drive through a few twist and turns to reach there. I came across this place on tripadvisor.com and straightaway made reservations a fortnight before my scheduled visit.

This place is mostly buzzing with customers during lunch hours, since it is close to Amer and it serves as the perfect halt for lunch for tourists out for sightseeing. However, we preferred this place for dinner since someone on the phone told us that folk singers perform during the day and dance performances take place at night.

Although the artists perform only till 9pm and restaurant practically closes by 9.30pm, the restaurant staff was quite generous to us who served us dinner at 10 (since we got late after the light and sound show) and even the artists performed specially for us (all the stunts including dancing on the board of nails with pots balanced on head).

Despite the fact that we were the only customers, there was not even a slight frown or impatience from the restaurant staff and artists.

The buffet, which is a widespread of rich desi ghee food is not only recommended to tourists but also to locals of Jaipur. They serve you everything on the table, presented beautifully in a thali.

The taste of dal is remarkable, palak corn is usual, Paneer Makhni (chicken makhni for non vegetarians) is a tangy sweet and spicy dish with big chunks of paneer, mixed veg is not dry but a semi dry dish in base of brown masala. The rice was of best quality and the kheer served along the thali was tasty yet surprising since it didn't seem like it was made up of rice and yet it tasted like rice pudding.

The part which makes this buffet different from the rest is that they also serve tea and coffee at the end, which actually made us feel like we are not eating at a restaurant but at some acquaintance's home, entertained by our host as well.

Now when I say that we were entertained by the host, I literally mean it because the staff was at beck and call and the manager kept talking to us on and off to make us feel at ease. He even arranged to unlock the turban museum for us and not only that, he even showed us the demo of how a Rajasthani turban is tied.

Although I am writing this review 8 days after my visit, yet the beautiful memories linger in my mind.

Great ambiance, decor, service, food and entertainment! Lovely place to eat.

They have a selection of traditional Rajasthani food on the menu- don't miss it. Delicious! You can also watch them make their breads in the courtyard.

Must visit for any tourist to Jaipur

Their Laal MAAS will turn vegetarian to Non-veg. I am a hardcore veggie though. Try Paneer and Black daal here. Have a thumbs up as well. Sit back and relax. If it is winters then its probably the best time to enjoy. I will suggest you to have a look at the wonderful Turban Museum as well. Nice location in the heart of the old city.

It's an awesome place, with the best of ambience! You will enjoy Rajasthani folk music while eating. Service is good. Food is average. Recommended for foreigners & non- Rajasthanis.
Turban Museum is also there, where you will see variety for turbans from different era. Highlights- Rajasthani Folk music & dance.
