Review Ganesh Restaurant - Jaipur

Excellent experience here as a tourist having something a bit more local. A rooftop in the old town with very reasonable prices and great good. We also could see it had good hygiene because we were watching them cook right next to us! They were very friendly, let us watch cook and take pictures. On top of that, they didn't add a tip to the bill automatically and then were surprised and grateful when we gave one, unlike many in tourist restaurants. Very good experience, recommend it!

A small but great restaurants with amazing atmosphere and rooftop view and a very lovely staff and owner. Great for family.

Located in nehru bazar it's like a rooftop restaurant with a view of the city. Tasty food ,one must go for garlic naan. Didn't like veg pulao as it was too oily and the taste was also ok. Overall a budget friendly place.

This was the most adventurous I've been on my India trip with a friend. We are two women travelling across Rajasthan for 2 weeks. Got there at 6pm and the first part of the adventure is finding the entrance (see picture). We then climbed to the first floor where the restaurant was indicated to us, and were greeted by a group of men, just staring. Continued to the left and realised there was absolutely no one, but another group of another 8-9 men about the kitchen area. We were greeted furthermore with a nerve-wracking laugh by two waiters. Finally got to order the Ganesh special (curry with chickpeas, paneer, onions, red peppers and cabbage) and the garlic naan. It was delicious, but the atmosphere was just too overwhelming for us to enjoy our dinner without worrying about our safety. Would recommend solo female travellers do not go by themselves and to probably wait until 7pm not to feel too awkward about sitting completely alone.

As the name so is the restaurant. The smell of the process of cooking is appetizing. The food quality and quality is superb. They have almost all dishes ready mix. Waiting time is very less. The dishes are cooked on individual taste and choice wrt the spice oil and other ingredients. A place worth exploring.

Great taste and ok prices. Try the Kaju Kari, a cashew dish. Very friendly. Showed us how the food was cooked, let us participate!

I recently visited Ganesh Restaurant for dinner and had a fantastic experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff and felt right at home. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with dim lighting and comfortable seating. The menu had a great selection of dishes to choose from, including several vegetarian and gluten-free options. I ended up trying the Paneer Butter Masala, which was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented.

I had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the food was absolutely delicious. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, making for a seamless and enjoyable dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal in a warm and welcoming setting.

Small rooftop restaurant on the wall of the Pink City. The entrance is a stairway in between a couple of clothing stores and can be easy to miss, but keep an eye for a stairway and sign that says Ganesh Restaurant above it. Once you head up stairs, you'll see a rooftop with chairs and tables. The sun was beaming while we were there so we opted to sit inside which was nicer compared to being outside. Food was delicious and some of the best curry I've had so far in India. Definitely recommend the garlic naan. We asked for no butter or ghee to be used and only a little bit of oil to be used and they understood and delivered. We were also offered a palate cleanser at the end of our meal with aniseed (I think) and sugar. A little pricier than what you'd normally pay (lunch was 700 rupees for two curries, two garlic naans and a serving of rice) but well worth the extra money.

To take a feel of the old city and a treat to your taste buds it's a perfect place for the dhaba lovers. A must visit place!

We had a great meal here. We were the first guests for the day and sat out on the roof and watch the bazaar come to life. The food was delicious and we enjoyed the interaction with the staff.

unexpected events. Recommended by locals, a nice find. Smaller moves are taken after shop number 10. an eatery with an open terrace that serves delectable cuisine. tried masala papad, dal stir, kulche, and butter paneer. Fantastic judgement. For those who enjoy dhabas, this is the ideal location to get a taste of the ancient city while also treating your taste buds. A must-see location!

One word, pathetic
One advice, never eat from this place. I ordered tandoori roti which was the size of a Puri and that too undercooked. Paneer was horrible and packing was the nail in the coffin.

Maybe once upon a time this place was worth a visit but it had an aged, neglected vibe in its present state.

It boasts a mention on Lonely Planet which again, perhaps was once accurate but is barely now.

Having eaten on this busy little street a number of times I can confidently say this was our least favourite of all the dhabas, of which there are ample decent ones on offer.

The food was very overpriced for what it was and despite the flavour being acceptable following our meal we were stung with a supposed 'TAX' of 13%?!?! out of nowhere which made this place a rare and disappointing 1 star. We even challenged the absurd overcharging and were scoffed at. I'll be actively recommending eating in and around Nehru Bazar to friends with a specific mention to avoid this.

Well, ganesh dhabha is one of the most famous dhabha in jaipur and must go for all indian food lovers. They actually serve the best panner butter masala and malai kofta and daal too. Well they dont have a very goos sitting area but it serves you food really fast and the service is also very good.

Ganesh Restaurant is roof-top dhaba located near M I Road, a short walking distance from Bapu Bazar / Nehru Bazar.

A colleague who has been their loyal customer for many years, brought me here for lunch. On 1st look, it didn't seem like a restaurant but I was told that the tables are put up (in the open area) in the evening. We were seated in the dining area outside the kitchen.

We ordered for GATTE KI SUBZI [INR 80], PANEER BUTTER MASALA [INR 90], SEV TAMATAR [INR 80], MASALA ROTI [INR 15]

Gatte Ki Subzi was nice & flavourful with Gatte were nicely cooked. Paneer cubes though small were soft, the gravy tasted similar to the Gatte Ki Subzi gravy. Sev Tamatar was made slightly spicy on request but tomatoes were cut into huge chunks; 4 pieces from one tomato, which made it uncomfortable to consume. Masala Roti was a nice innovation, a mix of dry spices was sprinkled on the dough & then baked in the Tandoor. All in all the food was good to taste; slightly oily in texture.

Hygiene in the dining area is one thing which I think the restaurant lacked. The kitchen looks pretty old but could do with a nice touch up & being kept a bit more clean.

A good dining experience!
This is the best dhaba I ever visited. The place was simple and good, you can enjoy dinner with your family and also this the place where I can't resist to go with my family and I ordered only spicy khoya paneer with tandoori roti. I recommend you to buy a soft drink because they don't have a soft drink.
I went there from my childhood. There are lots of memory with this restaurant.
So in the last, I recommend khoya paneer with butter tandoori roti.
And seriously you can afford to go there and enjoy the rooftop view of nahru bazar.

The quality of vegetables are very authentic. Speciality over here is paneer Butter masala, Paneer is smashed in the gravi.unlike other restaurants. Owner Mr. bhatia welcomes and respects all the consumers well. Once i had a bad experience, of taste. He had apologized and made a new one giving all the guidance! Good Food/Taste/Hotility!

I ordered plain roti but they delivered me tandoori roti. Zomato told me that the restaurant not provide plain roti. Plain roti is wrongly mentioned in menu card.
Ankesh Khandelwal
I got tandoori instead of tawa chapati and food was delivered 20 minutes late because of some mistake on the restaurant's part as told by the person who has delivered the food, please try not to repeat it so that we can give 5 stars and yes food was really good tastewise
Anil Kumar Sharma
I asked for Jain food and they mixed onion in one of vegetables. Thank God we saw it before hand else our fast would have been broken. They have to see through the seriousness of matters and take utmost concern not to repeat in future.

We found this restaurant in the lonely planet India guide book. Despite tasty food there was multiple scams that the owner tried to rake advantage of of us as foreign tourists.

1- The total of our meal was 530. He claimed tax was 70 INR but it should have been 26 INR. He claimed tax was 15% despite 5% GST being the standard in India. He refused to explain the extra 10% and eventually lowered once challenged. An official receipt was never issued so I doubt he is even giving the tax collected to the government.

2-The English menu is different than the Hindi menu. The prices are higher on the English menu.

Lonely planet needs to drop their recommendation of this restaurant.

Very good and old place for Jaipurites to dine out. It never lets you down with taste of food and service quality. In summers, you might have to wait in the queue because of its perfect roof top view.

This was easily the BEST eating experience ever! Like EVER.
Ganesh Restaurant is a Tandoori Kitchen - an all vegetarian rooftop dhaba-ish place hidden somewhere amidst the gallis of Nehru Bazaar.
A narrow staircase leads you up to their terrace. They have a nice, big outdoor seating and a very small indoor seating. Because it was a sunny, hot afternoon we chose to sit inside. But the outdoor seating at night and during the winters would be so amazing! Such places have their own charm really. It was super nice and very clean and hygienic.
These are the kind of places you need to let go off all your health restrictions and weight gain inhibitions! Their food was drowned in oil/ghee/butter but that’s the beauty of it. For our lunch we ordered:

Dum Aloo
Jira Aloo
Paneer Butter Masala

Laccha Paratha
Garlic Naan
Butter Naan

Boondi Raita
Mix Veg. Raita

Masala Papad
Masala Chaas

Forget all about starters, we dived straight into a hardcore North Indian main course because we were majorly starving!
We called for 3 vegetables - a gravy based Dum Aloo, a dry Jira Aloo and one staple Paneer vegetable being Paneer Butter Masala. I can’t even begin describing these. I was in food heaven. Definitely the best Punjabi food I have ever eaten! Like ever (I know I’ve used this statement one too many times).
For Rotis we had the butter naan, garlic naan and laccha paratha. They claim to have the worlds best Garlic Naan. Guess what, it really is! It was sheer brilliance on a plate. Soft, buttery, garlic-ey goodness! Definitely needed to have eaten this in life - so happy that I did! It’s kinda set a benchmark now. Haha.
To eat alongside the delicious food we called for two raitas - a Mixed Vegetable Raita which consisted of cucumber, onions and tomatoes all finely chopped and mixed with curd. The second one was Boondi Raita, my favourite. I had to ask for some extra red chilli powder and chaat masala to add more spice to it. But they were both lip smacking good! And our plates were licked clean.
Any meal is incomplete without Masala Papad.
To end our lunch and ensure all the super delicious yet slightly unhealthy food gets digested well - we called for Masala Chaas.
Perfect end to a perfect meal!

Food & Drinks - 5/5
Service - 4.5/5
Ambiance - 4/5
Value for Money - 5/5

Ganesh Restaurant is a gem hidden amidst abundant chaos! We had possibly the most delicious meal of our lives, right here - and I’m not even exaggerating. It’s amazing how small places like these can give you that total paisa vasool feel unlike 5 star hotels.
So if you’re in Jaipur or are a local, this place is an absolute MUST TRY! No complaints whatsoever!
Highly recommended, this place is superlative :)

Leave aside the decor....the food is too good. Typical Jaipur flavours. We loved the lunch. U will enjoy only if u like....oily, masaledar food.

Perfect place if you are looking for actual Dhaba Food. The ambience is great. The food is delicious the view of the Nehru Bazar and Golcha Cinema is the cherry on the cake.
Sreejit Datta
The dhaba ambience of the place is corroborated by its wonderful management of space. Don't judge it by the open rooftop where pigeons flock, go a step ahead and sneak into the chamber; and you'll discover a treasure trove of Rajasthani food. Highly recommended for people who love masala food with a lot of ghee, onion and pepper. The friendly owner will make a pal out of you in an instant.
Kapil Purohit
A Dhaba which is one of the oldest name located at top of shops in Nehru bazar in jaipur walled city. We sat on old iron chairs which is not an issue and as the weather was great no sun we could sit and eat , we ordered half shahi paneer and half daal fry in butter which was served timely but both lacked the taste I don't know why it is so famous. The tandoori roti was of flour which was the only good thing and chaach was decent . Zero in hygiene and waiters conditions too unhygienic would not recommend to neone

Location 7/10
Cleanliness 2/10
Hygiene 2/10
Service 5/10
Taste 3/10
Overall experience negative
Devashree Sanghvi
This little dhaba hidden away in the busy market of Jaipur had some nicely cooked food. You have to climb up an old set of stairs to reach and you're met with a cool breeze and a fun view.

We ordered for the Laccha Paratha, Paneer Butter Masala, Jain Paneer Kadhai, Tadka Daal and Chaas.

The Laccha Paratha was quite delightful. Layers of wheat rotis joint together by lots of ghee all cooked in a slow charcoal tandoor, served warm topped with lots of butter.

The Paneer Butter Masala was a little too oily. They could've improved on the thickness of the gravy. The Paneer wasn't that soft either. Very average.

The Chaas in Rajasthan is one of the best I've had. Buttermilk spiced with roasted cumin seeds and lots of Chaas masala was a perfect accompaniment to my meal.

The service was quick. The place has a homely feeling to it.

Taste - 3.0/5
Ambience - 2.5/5
Service - 3/5
Overall experience - 3.0/5
