The food was not good, taste was bland. A lot of work is required to bring the old charm. I ordered masala dosa which was flavourless. Others had same views about whatever they ordered.<br/><br/>This place used to be my favorite since childhood and now I would have to think a lot before coming here.

I have been visiting surya mahal for more than 5 years. I only come here for veg steak sizzler. I don’t have read the menu to order it. I ordered the same today. It always comes with stuffed tomato, pineapple and good quantity of baked vegetable, 1 aloo tikki, rice and veg beans. Today they served 2 aloo tikki, with lots of rice and just 1 tea spoon beans. No pineapple and no tomota added. And when I<br/>Asked they said u are supposed to<br/>Order a different one. They argued and said<br/>I ordered wrong sizzler. Vegetable sizzler doesnt mean just aloo tikki and rice.

Surya Mahal restaurant is located at MI road, near Rajmandir cinema. This legendary place is running successfully since 1954. We're looking for authentic Rajasthani thali and dosa. So we went to this place for dinner and ordered Rajasthani thali and rawa dosa. I really loved the quality and quantity of both those dishes. Special mention for those mind blowing chutneys they served with rawa dosa. Thali was fantastic but I felt they should also serve Ker sangri in the thali. Don't miss this place if you are craving for either south Indian or north Indian dishes. Ambience was decent and staff was courteous.

The Rajasthani thali was really good. Loved the food.

Perfect choice whenever you want to have a family lunch or dinner. All varieties had been tried over the years but still we never get over with this place. Located at MI ROAD this is one of the oldest food joint of Jaipur. Highly recommended for veg food lovers !

It is located at Mirza Ismail road, Near Panch Batti, MI Road, Jaipur. They serve North Indian, Chinese, fast food and South Indian. They are open from 8 am- 11 pm. The cost for two people here is INR 1,000. <br/><br/>Food: Their paneer butter masala with kulcha is average.Their chilly garlic noodles are yummy. Their mixed vegetable cheese grill sizzler is finger-licking good. Their dal makhani and pulao was too good. Their chilly panner is lip-smacking. Their mushroom pasta was below average.Their chilly paneer and Manchurian with fried rice is lip-smacking as well. Their cheesy garlic bread spicy is quite delightful as well. Their Rajashtani thali is also good enough. <br/><br/>Ambiance and Amenities: Their ambiance is good enough for a family meal. Their service is pretty prompt which is great.

Amazing place to have all sorts of cuisine. We went there for lunch and ordered almost everything. The food tasted superb. Only issue was parking but that one can expect on visiting any place on MI Road during lunch hours. Overall a good experince.

Its a casual fine dine restaurant. One of the oldest place in town. Recently visited this place with my family. We tried masala dosa, sizzler and chole bhature. Taste was quite normal. Service was slow...

We ordered the Rajasthani thali. The food quality is top notch but the portion size is very small. All the curries just had gravy no/very little solids in it. The kadhi had one tiny pakodi in it, potato curry had one small piece of cut potato and so did the gatte ki sabzi.

A very well known famous place on the M.I.Road. I ordered here rawa dosa and thaali. Dosa was really good with 3 different chutneys and a sambhar and in thali some items were good and some were average.. dalmakhani and pulao were tasy, paneer was avg.. naan was really good, gulab jamun not good.. overall nice place to visit. Rates are also reasonable sooo I can recommend this place.

After hearing a lot, we went to Surya Mahal in a group of 5-6 friends for lunch. We ordered one Rajasthani thali, one chefs special thali, curd rice and achari aloo. The portion is so big that we packed most of the food. <br/><br/>Undoubtedly, they are serving the best indian food across Jaipur but the service needs a lot of improvement. The servers were not interested to serve. They all looked lazy and busy in theirselves. <br/><br/>I ordered cheese naan, which never came to my table. On taking the follow up, one of the server said, “bas aa raha hai” and when i took the second follow up, the server said “it was served already”. I was shocked!! Since all the stewards are very aged, dint want to create a scene. Thus, i ate whatever was served and left quietly. <br/><br/>I loved the food but due to such service, i’d never visit the place again.

Suryamahal is a fine dine family restaurant which is located at M.I Road near jalmahal ice cream parlour. Always loved the food here. One of my favourite restaurants, visiting this place since childhood. Generally this place is always busy, but not a long wait and food comes quickly. The taste and the quality is just awesome. Been here with a friend on the suggestion that we get the Rajasthani specialities.<br/>True to his word, and a little to my surprise the regular sounding items like ghatte ki subzi and aloo pyaz subzi are really interesting, with the unique masalas. To think of, these are rare in a restaurant and u won't be disappointed, if u are an explorer.<br/>And, special mention to their staff who are really hospitable and excited to take the order, suggest the best dishes and to serve.<br/><br/>If in Jaipur for a visit, must plan a meal at this place, and look for the "Rajasthani specialities" section in the menu.

Awesome food

I have never had any issues here. Mostly all the food that I have eaten here never lacked taste. The service is good.<br/><br/>My favorite is of course their Masala Dosa with all the Chutneys they serve along with it and Baked Vegetable dish.

Thus place is famous for its Indian cuisine and high hygiene and sanitation standards in food preparations. It provides a rich dining experience and is worth the money spent.

This restraurant is one of the amazing eating point I found in Jaipur. Service is extremely friendly and polite. But its also awesome for food. We went twice their in three days and had North Indian food. I could give nothing less than 5 stars to them. With all these facilities, you can never be harsh on uour pocket if you come here. Food is extremely affordable and equally delicious. We ordered oke Rajastani thali also that has exact flavors of Rajasthan leaving me mesmerised. Both time we got bill less than 1k for four members even if you eat with your tummy full. If you visit this restaurant, you can never leave it witout giving a good tip to the waiter. I personally would recommend it if you are living or visiting Jaipur.

This was my first Multi Cuisine restaurant in Rajasthan Tour. Heard good reviews in this place before reaching there.<br/><br/>It's easily accessible on MI road exactly opposite to the famous Lassiwala store.<br/><br/>Veg Manchow Soup - Over Spicy and salt was less. Very low on expectation. But one nice thing in this was lots of Tofu was used in the Soup.<br/><br/>Veg Manchurian - Taste was good. Nice Indian Chinese Aroma. Balls were bigger in size. But portion size was very less. It had just 9 pieces.<br/><br/>Cheese Garlic bread with Jalapenoes - Must must try !!!!!<br/><br/>Surya Mahal Special Fried rice - Very nice. Fried Panner, well tossed Mushrooms. All were perfect. But no Raita was served. We had to separately order a Onion Raita.<br/><br/>Mixed Veg Pulao - Extremely bland. Was in Jaipur for diwali shopping this weekend and after getting exhausted we visited this restaurant for dinner. <br/>Food: We ordered 3 vegetable thalis. Thali includes dal makhani that was awesome. Matar paneer, again good. Raita was nice and so was simple steamed rice. Lachha parantha finger lickin good. In desert they served gulab jamun that was a little too sweet for my liking but not bad either.<br/>Ambiance: Table is bit small for four seater. Clean and comfortable. <br/>Service: Very good.

I visit this place few days ago.This is pure vegetarian place situated at M.i road .I tried not more things. I tried Dal Makhni with Lacha but place lachha by Tandoori roti: I liked the combo . Ambience is perfect for family visit. My overall experience is good with this place😁✌️

I went for dinner here and it was crowded, people were waiting outside despite being the weekday. This shows the popularity and quality of the place. I ordered garlic naan, daal tadka and their signature dish Deshi Paneer. Loved the food, pure and perfect mix of spices, rich of flavours. This is exactly what I expected from this place. One drawback is just their new menu isn't updated on zomato

Daaaal Makhaaaani !<br/>I have never had Daal Makhani as beautiful as I did recently here. I must say they are too good with their preparation. It's not just about the Dal Makhani but everything I had here was perfect (except for the paneer butter masala). Paneer butter masala wasn't fresh and I would recommend to keep that away. Service (4.5/5), staff(4.5/5), food(4/5), ambiance (2.5/5), food(4.5/5), value for money (4/5).

Good and clean restaurant (as I’m an American traveling) with above average food. We had the korma and a few other dishes here and found that they were good but not stellar. If in the area and you want a good value and clean food this is a reliable place.

The place to sit felt kinda conjusted at first, but it has the best conditions to eat. The food was good. The south Indian and Rajasthani food i ordered were delicious and in the right quantity.

Masala Chai and Fresh Lime Soda drinks were not that good. The food was average, only the Butter Paneer Tikka Masala was excellent and I can recommend it. The service was good. The restaurant has A/C and is very quiet and quite nice.

Surya Mahal<br/>The place doesn't have it's own entrance, which I found a little weird. It is on the first floor, and the entrance is right through a bakery.<br/>We tried the Rajasthani thali, but were disappointed to find no dal baati in it. The pakoda kadi was really good, so was the gatte ki subji.<br/>The thali is served with rice, fried papad and a missi roti. <br/>The thali is limited but you can always repeat your favorite dish for a nominal price.<br/>FINAL VERDICT: The ambience of the place is very beautiful. The interiors are quirky and bright. The staff is also polite. The place is nice choice to hangout with your buddies on a lazy afternoon.

The old spark is still alive. Went here after a long time, loved to go to this place when we were kids. It just revived some old memories. Although the decor is very plain and simple but the food & service is good. We ordered Chole Bhature & Veg Uttapam. Chole Bhature was tasty & served in good quantity. Used to be an amazing restaurant once upon a time. I was very fond of their pav bhaji. But gradually the quality declined, or maybe better places came up and now, sadly we don't like to go here anymore.

We stayed at MI Road during our visit to Jaipur and thought of trying good restaurants in the area and Surya Mahal did not disappoint us at all. Speak of Rajasthan and what comes to mind - yummy thalis and exquisite clothes and jewelry. We definitely wanted to try their thali hence we ordered a Raj Thali and Palak Paneer and Roti. Raj thali includes all the special dishes from the area like Kadi Pakora, Gatta ki Sabji, Lahsun ki chutney and Missi Roti. The portion size is more than enough for a person. We loved the Palak Paneer too with fluffy paneer cubes.<br/><br/>Tagline - Perfect place to satiate your thali cravings!

We actually sat in the area above bakery which had nice interiors but staff was busy watching some serial on TV inspire of we being sitting there.<br/>Let me tell you this the sambhar was very sweet and mixed uttapam was tasteless.<br/>However we were sitting there after finishing off with the lunch but I guess the staff was eager to send us. Without even asking for the bill, staff brought the same and wanted us to leave.

Wonderful place... Lovely food... Nice ambience.. I have been a regular visitor here since past 20 years now... Something has the same taste & flavor since so long... Desi paneer & Butter paneer masla is to die for.

Surya Mahal has an old school charm and the ambience will remind you of the times gone by but the best part about the place is it's food, the kitchen is behind glass windows and you can see your food is hygienically prepared. The flavors are absolutely intrinsic, almost everything I have had at the place was holistically cooked and had a great texture. For me the must try dish would be the pav bhaji of the place which I have every single time I come to Jaipur and it tastes the same every single time. One of those few places where they take their food seriously.

Single word is enough to describe it relishing. <br/>Food is mouth watering.. quality has never been on staked here and it makes me visit this place more and more.. ambiance some how is not that much up to the mark but the food over here makes us forget everything.. finger licking food with the quality.

Surya Mahal have always been a top notch family dine restaurant for most of the jaipurites, who love to go to MI Road for a good dinner followed by icecream at Jal Mahal Ice Cream parlour. <br/><br/>From years, surya mahal with its classic interiors, food and paper made table mats with games, quizes and puzzles have always attracted me as a child and also as a young adult. <br/><br/>But, surya mahal surprized me when I got to know they have a restaurant on the first floor from last an year which was long back a disc. Really? <br/>So I asked them to place my order upstairs, and you should look at the interiors in the pictures!<br/><br/>Pretty interiors, mason jar lamps, wooden coloured chairs, green doors, old style evergreen little curtains, *jharokhe* , and some show pieces, it all took my heart away!<br/><br/>So I ordered MAXICAN PIZZA AND MY ALL TIME FAVORITE PESTO SAUCE PASTA.<br/>Maxican pizza was different, with a good base, and flavourful toppings. Macaroni, noodles, mushrooms, and some veggies. Also, topped with crushed nachos, it felt maxican! This is goooood.<br/><br/><br/>Pesto pasta have always been my favorite opt at surya mahal restaurant! Creamy sauce, good quantity and perfectly cooked.
