This place serves amazing food. It is not a fine dining place, its a regular restaurant and don't go here for the ambience. They are famous for their dosa but when we went there it was not available so we have idli/vada sambhar which was also super Amazing. Their kulfi falooda is also very good. They have noodles also whovh were good. The service was very prompt and the food is cheap.

It is a perfect place to satisfy your South Indian food cravings. Food quality is appreciable with a beautiful ambience. The restaurant offers all kind of south indian food and ice creams along with certain amazing special items on the menu.

Atmosphere is good if you are there only for food.. But for selfies inclusion ambience is little downplay... Service is fast good and courteous... Food is good... With south Indian flavours... Nearly the same once the speciality of Ambi Baba...

Great place for south Indian food. Enjoy the taste of south indian food. The menu was different type dosa ,idli vada and uttapam.. service is very fast . Food is served quick and hot, and their dosas, medu vadas, idlis, uttapams are delicious. Their Dahi vadas are their speciality. Try their Chinese noodles and rice which arew good too, but they are specialists in South Indian foods.

Enjoy the taste of south indian food. The menu was different type dosa ,idli vada and uttapam.. service is very fast . Food is served quick and hot, and their dosas, medu vadas, idlis, uttapams are delicious. Their Dahi vadas are their speciality. We tried there longest dosa which was good to see and also in taste. Try their Chinese noodles and rice which arew good too, but they are specialists in South Indian foods.

I like filter coffee. I did order masala dosa. It tastes better as compared to other Street Dosas. Do try coffee and medu Vada as well. Staff is approachable and polite. Hygienic. COVID guidelines followed. Delivery is fast.

Best masala dosa ever eaten. Enjoyed drinking filter coffee for the first time today. Kanpurites must eat dosa here.

Kerala only in name. Most of the iconic Kerala dishes like Porotta (not paratha), puttu, idiyappam, Appam, pathiri etc are not available. They could've instead kept name as South India hotel maybe. Half the menu items are Dosa items. Uthappam served was something else. Service and atmosphere is good. Only Kerala thing I could find was a Kathakali photo hung on the wall.

Well this is one of my favorite places to go when it comes to eating south indian food and filter coffee. This place is such authentic with the kind of food and. Service they provide it's just simply amazing. Just the right go to place in Kanpur to eat south indian food. It operates till 10 in the night so make sure to plan your visit here accordingly. I am sure this won't be a disappotment rather a deliciously wow experience and if you do like it don't forget to mention.
Priyanka Gupta
Food is within your budget and nice. The waiters and service staff are good. You may visit here with your friends and family.

It is the best place to have a nice South Indian food. Generally there is some wait time due to lack of enough seating capacity but food is totally worth the wait. They offer a big menu from South Indian to Chinese option but their specialty is in South Indian food. Service is also very fast and staff is friendly and polite. I will recommend having paneer masala dosa and vada sambhar. Really liked the taste. Please try their filter coffee as well. There is no better way of ending a meal at a South Indian restaurant then sipping a cup of their filter coffee. They also serve icecream/shakes if you prefer sweet post a meal. This is my honest experience so far and I wish you feel the same way post trying.

I found dead fly on my dosa when I tell them ..owner talk very badly ....poor food poor quality.....after I pay them money also they don't feel sorry for bad behavior nd food
Siddharth
Prices are just double after lockdown its not affordable at all now previously dahi vada was 50 and now it's 84 no you don't deserve this much

As I heard people talking about this place I guessed it should have been at least a 4star cafe. The area is full of south indian cafes and with similar menus. Out of all, I liked one (not to mention the name here), but kerela CafΓ© wasn’t behind either. It was that experience only that got me to order for a home delivery too from this place. But this is where they killed a customer.

I was having a few guests at my place so thought of ordering a few things from here too. And they canceled the order 1hr after confirming the order, saying the distance is too long. If the address wasn’t in their delivery radius, they shouldn’t have accepted the order in first place and when they accepted the order then they shouldn’t have taken 1hr to cancel it.

And I don’t understand, how is it that the same address they delivered food a week back was well in their delivery radius but this time it went out. Can the addresses move locations now.
MILAN KHARE
Perfect place for south indian lovers....they have their signature dosa..which is too long...yes too tasty.. well this place is very nice..service is also fast

Very poor service....it was so humid in the restaurant today and the owner had no concerns about his customers.. there are approx 5 air conditioner in the restaurant but only 1 of them was working where the manager was sitting.. he closed all the other AC’s.. and even fan was not working properly and when i complained abt it he told me that β€œmei kya karoon mene todi kharab kia h.. mjse kyu kehre h aplog” and he was very rude also..highly disappointed.. never goin to visit again..
Mehfuz Rahman
Ambience - 7.5
Food - 8.0
Service - 8.0 Value for money - 8.0
It used to one of the very few restaurants for IIT Students. Nowadays their food quality is not at all good.
If you are visiting this place do try masala dosa here. Avoid any drinks, overpriced and not up to the mark.

Quality of food is OK, but electricity problem is here, only three small fans are working by inverter.
Restaurant has generator but they use occasionally.
In summer if there is power cut .
Its just so so
K Sachan
Worst restaurant! I ordered just 2 idli vada but they sent 2 sambhar vada just coz of more price and even did not return it. I warn everyone to never go to this restaurant. And if by chance you dont have anywhere else to go simply make sure you dont order anything more than one
Shubhangi Agarwal
Had a very nice experience at their restaurant so thought I would order, but that turned out to be not so good experience. Customization requests weren't paid any heed. No cutlery sent along with food. Food was okayish. 2.5 stars for bad delivery, additional 0.5 for the last experience I had
ARNAB LAHA
Nice place to have a taste of authentic south indian food. Paper dosa was crispy and had a nice taste. Veg manchurian was really nice and spicy. One should taste the uttapam and idli sambhar. Both were nice in taste and buttery.
Shashwat
Offers good south indian dishes at affordable prices . Visited after along and had changed a lot . Staff was good and idli sambhar was also nice πŸ‘ .

Kerela cafe is one of the best place from where u can order something for ur friend or family.........
I enjoy South Indian food from kerela cafe every weekend.....
Ayodhya Prasad
Ordered two times till now. Quality and taste of food is good (ordered Dosa, Burger and Chowmein). Packaging was also good, food delivered warm as expected.
Raj Kumar
The place is good, food is good. Famous for its Dahi Vada and Dosa's. There is no main course, viz. Roti, rice, gravy dishes. You will definitely like the place.

Kerela cafe is one of the really old places in kanpur that have been catering to food lovers since a long time.

The cafe boasts of a a long list of items on menu some of which may not be available like chocolate soda.

We had butter paneer dosa and butter masala dosa since i prefer the taste of butter over oil they tend to use .

Paneer dosa was good but instead of usual paneer filling they use diced paneer pieces.

Masala dosa was good and tasted amazing with yummy sambhar and delicious nariyal chutney.

Also had mix veg uttapam after trying to find the difference between special mix veg uttapam and mix veg uttapam which most waiters didnt seem to know. They called some one from kitchen who said it just had paneer along with everything else so went for mix veg uttapam..

Uttapam had a particularly strong flavor of oil not in a good way that makes me firm in my decision of opting for butter dosa instead of one made in oil and taste was just ok.

ambience is average nothing really special other than god's brightly colored paintings on walls to keep u distracted.

In all taste was good with decent pricing and i would recommend to stick with butter preparations instead of the regular dishes
Food Of Kanpur
Biggest Paper Masala Dosa of Kanpur. More than one metre. Taste was Awesome. Wonderful Experience with This Long Dosa. Go and Enjoy this Amazing Paper masala Dosa at Kerala Cafe.
Rating-9/10
Ashutosh Gupta
Pathetic food. I ordered paneer masala dosa from swiggy but struggled a lot to find paneer. Even dosa taste was like the food supplied by hawkers at 10-20 rupee. I urge everyone not to order from here if you don’t wanna get into health issues.
Anand Singh
The place is well dining place for families and they have a bright ambiance and the restaurant provides and ok ok food , u can't expect food quality to be the best as they have a crowd so I think demand has overcome the taste ....
They only just need improvement in their food quality .
Its a humble request for the restaurant ....
Narendra Tomar
Kerela cafe is my favorite place dosa and chaumin is my favorite dish and quality and service is very good and food quality is very good and packing service is very good

the quality of masala dosa was not good enough...that is not worth for money
needs to lots of improvement regarding packing sense and all.....
good luck!

Average place to eat. Didn't like the butter dosa. Masal dosa and other normal dosas are fine. Other dishes are also average. But prices are reasonable.
Kajal Bhatia

With it's name it associates with south region of India popular in the city for its delicious dishes that touches southern flavor of India . Everytime I pass from there I couldn't stop myself from visiting there . Kerla Cafe does deliver great service for food and you haven't been there then for sure you need to go there .
Akashyadav582
Nice place with good crew...
And proper hygiene is maintained nice menu with much option and dishes at minimal cost are available. ...order prepare soon

Worst food quality, Worst behavior and we can say mis behaviour, I will never suggest anyone to go there. Food quality is also very bad , not a worth of money

An authentic place for south Indian food.Have been the customer for almost last 10 years & never had a issue with food quality & service. One can visit this place with friends or family & can enjoy south Indian delicacy.Although there is availability of other type of options other than south indian food also.
Saurabh Singh Chandel
They are charging more than the MRP. Of product.. like I order 3 ice cream cone that are of RS.30 each but they are charging rs.40 For each..... Why so....
Mukesh Chand Sharma
Visiting regularly when in Kanpur. Adjecent to IIT Kanpur main gate. It has value due to true southern taste. Pocket soothing. I will repeat for southern taste. Service is bakwas. Now told that first floor is preparing . Hope for good dining which I miss all the time
Kavya Gupta
A decent place to enjoy time with your family and friends. The price charged for the food according to the quantity provided is quite reasonable but I feel the taste is not upto the mark as it could have been a lot better. It is famous for the South Indian dishes but in my opinion it's not as good as it should be. Overall it's fine to go there once in a while.
Aman Senger
A famous place of IIT KANPUR for south Indian food.masala dosa and idli sambhar is a must try, dahi vada were okayish.service is fast and friendly in budget.
Shaifaly Gupta
This is quite a decent place with quality at reasonable rate. Dahi bada is the star dish of this place. It is both family friendly and a place to hang out with friends. I would recommend it.
Nishant Mishra
If one needs to taste some authentic south indian cuisines at quite reasonable price i would suggest this place to them. the newly updated infrastructure and ambience of this place is also nice and sophisticated . i tried their #idli sambar and butter pepper masala #dosa. and i ended up licking my fingers by the end of my meal . yes it was that good. the giant butter pepper masala dosa is as big as the waiter had to bring that single dosa in two plates!!!!
Apoorv Jain
Not great... I have been trying this restaurant since I was a kid... This place used to serve some great authentic south indian stuff with decent ambience but now they have renovated the whole place with great ambience and have deteriorated the food quality. We ordered Butter plain and butter masala dosa which we found salty as the batter which they have made could have been fermented or had more salt.
Owners of Kerala cafe should focus on bringing the quality back like it used to be earlier days otherwise it effect their business....
I am a hotelier by myself therefore I know the importance of quality.

Malvika Lodhi
If you are a South Indian food lover, this place is best for you.
- All the best varieties of DOSA
- DAHI BADA, IDLI SAMBAR are favourites of many
- Cold Coffee or a Filter Coffee is best to complete a meal
- Not a SOUTH INDIAN FOOD lover no worries, they also serve Noodles, Paw Bhaji.
- SPECIAL RECOMMENDATIONS :- *ONION DOSA* *COLD COFFEE*πŸ˜‹πŸ˜

And all this you get in reasonable prices, what eles you want 😜
Bookworm
Kanpur's world famous south Indian food joint. I am not exaggerating. Many IITians working abroad will vouch for it. I have been visiting this place for over 20 years and the consistency in qualty and taste is mind boggling. With the renovated, air-conditioned avatar, it is even better. Though all items on the menu are great, dahi-vadas and butter masala dosa along with filter coffee are all time favourits. The prices are very reasonable too.
Yuvraj Maheshwari
It's still one of the best Places to eat south Indian food. I have been visiting this place from last fifteen years, the taste is the same and the best in the city. The craving for dosa ends here. The staff is friendly and simplicity of the restaurant is awesome with cleanliness. Having a ice cream parlor attached in here makes it full stacked one. The cost is starting from 150 INR for two for decent food.
The WE Goals
It’s probably the best place in kanpur to have South Indian food. The Masala Dosa is just perfect and delicious here. It’s best and least expensive place.

I m unhappy with its take away service.. i asked my friend to bring vada sambhar for me.. To my disappointment they used plastic polythene to pack sambhar, chutney and vadas..n its happening from many years.. The food is good n tasty this I agree.. but recently dey hav undergone rennovation n increased their prices also..so they can afford atleast aluminium foils n packets which are more safer than polythenes and food can be warm for little while.. I hv earlier also mentioned dat lady owner is rude..non cooperative.. 'Its the service which builds u' !!
#improvement_needed.

They have improved guys... !! Yes they started using foil packaging nowπŸ‘ Yesterday i ordered Masala Dosa through Zomato from Kerala Cafe n i was apprehensive about their packing but to my goodness they packed their sambhar n narayal chutney in foil packets.. Good jobπŸ‘
Dosas were also delicious πŸ˜‹

Nice place... Last I visited the place, it was 2 years ago. Happy to see it's renovated.

It is safe to say that it's almost an authentic south Indian restaurant as they have slightly different taste in every south Indian dish they serve, just like the authentic dishes of the south. And the plus point is that it's not too expensive.

The plain dosa and the paneer masala dosa were quite big and delicious. Sambhar and chutney complimented well. The other fastfood they offer is average.

Being an IITK student, it is nice to have such a place nearby as an alternative to mess food. πŸ˜‰

Happy eating!
KanpurCentral
If ur a complete south Indian den only u all will like the food otherwise its okay okay type..
Complete south indian is different in taste so we sometimes don't like the taste..i was der n faced the same prblm as im the lover of dosa I didn't liked the taste as i like in other normal restro bt u all will love it u have South Indian taste..
So reviews depend on people n der taste

Ok place to have normal fast food with south India dishes too. Not great ambience, nothing like cafe, it's just a normal restaurant where food was just ok, not great.
But service was fast, even start was Supportive,
But that doesnt matter if your food wasnt up to the Mark...
Abbishek Gururaj
Kerala Cafe is located near the main IIT Gate on the GT Road. It is a well furnished and well maintained vegetarian family restaurant. One can get good South Indian food here. North Indian food items are not available here but some Chinese food items are available.

The Butter Masala Dosa is awesome. The length of the dosa is nearly 60-70 cms and it costs just β‚Ή120.

If you are looking for good south indian restaurant in the Kalyanpur area, then this is the place to be.
Amartya Yadav
Yay ! I love South Indian not becoz I look like themπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ but becoz I love the taste of the peninsula food πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

They offer great south Indian food alongwith some North Indian dishes like pav bhaji etc . I tasted Fried Rice , Masala Dosa and Chowmein and believe me they were all yummy πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

Best cusine - Dosa and Chowmein

Although the place is always crowded but still they serve quick good πŸ˜„ . ....

It's great to visit with friends and talk to the waiters and the Anna out there is really quite interactive person πŸ€— ...

Location - it is located on the new GT Road and is just by the side of road ... If you go through than it's ahead of IIT Kanpur and is on the left side of the road.

Seating is quite okay but I guess according to the crowd they must improve/develop seating arrangements...

And ya !!! NOTE -- This place is awarded and recognised by the present President of India πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Altogether it was really nice experience there with my family 😊😊
Ankur Nigam
I hv tried Vada Sambhar and Pav Bhaji. Both of them are very tasty and yummy, so I highly recommend this place. Service is also very excellent and they r very gentle and humble.
Deepak Khattar
This place is totally worth the price that you pay out here.. one of the longest paper plain dosas that you would come across and they are quite nice to eat as well.. the owner has also renovated the place recently and now it looks much better than what it was a few months back.. even the dahi Badhas of the place are quite famous
Rebecca
This super famous cafe started as a small outlet and today it stays jam packed.
You gotto wait till you get a seating place.
Anyway, the food is usually worth the wait however, I'd recommend that you visit this place in the morning uptil early evening. Once you cross 8P.M. he starts running outta stuff and usually compromises on the taste.
We were a family of 7 and hence we ordered for

7 plates Masala Dosa
7 bowls of Idli Vada Combo
3 bowls of Dahi Wada
And
Cream bell Sach Much Aam as the closing deal.

Taste Meter :
Dosa: 3.5/5
Idli/Vada: 4/5, 3/5
Sambhar: 2/5
Dahi Wada: 4/5

Service was super slow that simply cus it was super crowded.
However one must visit the famo Ambi Cafe: Kerala Cafe.
Hrashikeshh Kulkarni
During my days at IIT. I had visited this place few times. I ate idli, vada and dosa at this outlet. I loved them all. The chutney and sambar are also of good quality. The price is at the higher side but one can afford it sometimes.
Abhishek Pandey
A proper place to fill in ......i personally like their masala dosa a lot ..... one extra thing which they put in their stuffing is roasted peanuts which is quite unusual u won't get it anywhere inside a dosa crust ....but that extra crunch really taste well.....

Ambience is not good its like local food joint ..... but food here is amazing pocket friendly too.... worth try place .... πŸ‘... enjoy!!
Shivam Katiyar
Now this south Indian dish corner serves really good butter Paneer masala dosa ,also used to serve great dahi vadas but now their quality is decreasing ...this really hurts as I was a fan of their vadas.
Abhishek Vajpeyi
The place is no longer the same. I used to like it for its South Indian food. They served authentic filter coffee in inverted steel glasses. There were many IIT students also which gave it a cool gangy look. They boasted of Dahi Bara which was a huge dumpling of minced dal soaked in curd. The place has changed. The main owner is no more as he can be seen in a well garlended, framed photograph. The crowd was a mix of semi rural rustics and localite. The waiters and those on the counter displayed a lethargic attitude and pretended to be too busy to take an order. I just asked for a filter coffee only to find a bewildered look on the face of the service boy.
That was too much. I did not want to loose my much cherished memory.
I was left with no option but to walk away.
MK Mishra
I have good memories of this place when they just started and had only very small shanty. They served just a few regular south Indian items like dosa vada idli. I remember that the potato filling in their masala dosa was quite different and tasty.
Arpit Awasthi
Kerala cafe means dosa and dahi vada that's all..
Serve masala dosA with tasty masala aloo tastes awsm nd different then other dosas in the city...
Manoj Dhanwate
Yesterday visited there with family. Little curious before locating the hotel while driving to it, once reached out there it was as expected. A little cozy and mainly meant for students, but surprisingly seen many families out there around 9pm.
Not so hygienic but can be okay if you are a food lover and especially when hungry.
Menu was typical south Indian along with few Chinese dishes. It's pure veg, and quite reasonable one..enjoy your itali...dooosssa.
