Review Farmers Cafe - Kochi (Cochin)

Love kaushik
The coconut rice was subtle and soft and sweet. The fresh fish pasta smooth and tasty. The fried prawns perfectly marinated and the fried squids crispy and fresh. I had delicious, fresh, healthy and great tasting food every time. The staff were super friendly and the place is charming. Overall 5 star..

Farmers cafe is quite easy to miss and may not seem to be very appealing from outside esp if you are new to fort Kochi. We ended up there due to our good luck since it was getting late and other places were full. The place has an art gallery where collections of two artists were displayed when we visited and the open area of gallery was quite a welcome change. The restaurant itself is in a old local house converted to restaurant. Spread over 2 floors the place was simple yet elegantly decorated. Food choices were bit limited but served the purpose. The preparations were all quite good and sea food was absolutely fresh. Overall the taste, service and setup was quite delightful.

Wow! Take a 300+ year old building, add exceptionally nice people, great coffee and good food, and you create happiness. The building itself is marvelous. If you are a student of history or architecture, you will appreciate all the aspects of the structure that make it unique. There are paintings and prints of photographs displayed in the gallery section of the structure, adding charm to the place. Simplicity in furniture and thoughtful spacing of tables is highly appreciated. I ordered a coffee and a Farmer’s vegetable scramble. These were perfect. Served up with read bread too. Paid 300 for it—a very reasonable charge for the experience. Highly recommend visiting and spending some time here. Tip: Get here early in the morning so you have the place to yourself.

Fresh, flavoursome food served by friendly helpful staff. I ordered the Veg Thali and a vegetable juice. It's the magic kind of food that is both utterly delicious but also leaves you feeling nourished and healthy. I'd suggest planning to stay a while over a meal and linger a while longer to order another drink or even a slice of cake.. enjoy the calm shady courtyard and eclectic art decorating the walls. I only wish I'd tried Farmers Cafe earlier as it's by far the best spot I ate at in Fort Cochin.

They accommodated my vegan diet effortlessly. The chef was very kind and gave me plenty of options. I got the chana masala with steamed vegetables. It was delicious! The waiter was also very nice and the service was great! It's a very nice and quite atmosphere as well. I highly recommend this place. I went a second time and had the Lentils and steamed veg.

Excellent courtyard space with really cool architecture and attached to a cool little art gallery. Best thali we had in India! The waiters are all really nice and they do excellent juices as well. Love this place!

Great spot for dinner! Fish is very well cooked and the hosts are amazing. The building is about 300-400 year old and has a really cool feel. Strongly recommend this place, it’s only recently opened.

Delicious! Every thing we had was so nice and for a reasonable price. Service was great, and the staff welcoming. They have vegan options here for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Oh, yum! I finally tried this place (why did I wait so long?), and now I want to try everything on the menu. I had the veg thali for lunch, and the food was delicious, fresh, and perfectly spiced. The vegetables were fresh and healthy tasting, and the food was not at all heavy or greasy as some curries can be. Attentive, professional service and a peaceful atmosphere with reasonable prices. I will definitely be back for more!

A great place to start your day with a good cup of tea and delicious breakfast at fort Kochi. Love the vibe here. Slow service but happy with the place and their food. Try it out!

The building is a 400 year old one which has been turned into a cafe. I was told that there was a tea factory before which had shut down many years back. The menu is pretty interesting & quality of food is non doubt good. But a 4 star is because that the pricing is a bit on the higher side in comparison to the similar joints in Fort Kochi. But thats a personal opinion. One visit is a muat during your stay in Kochi.

Good food, on time preparation and service, nice ambience and the whole place is aesthetic! A must visit when you visit Kochi.

Extraordinary. I can only recommend this colonial style restaurant in which we ended up eating all our meals. Rates are very affordable. We only tested vegetarian dishes but the menu also offers fish and white meats. I have never tasted a cuisine so fine and so skilfully spiced. The products are fresh and tasty. The cooks are in my opinion masters in the matter, they cook with Love and it feels. Each time, we left the belly full and light at the same time. The staff is pampered. Thank you very much for this culinary escapade.

Fantastic experience. I have food allergies and the staff was very friendly and helpful, they cooked something special for me: it was delicious and cheap. The setting is beautiful too. My best experience in Koshi. I would go back there anytime, I hope they’ll reopen soon.

A fantastic meal at a great price. A nice building with a good atmosphere and an open kitchen. Worth seeking out and don't be put off the initial appearance of the outside of the building as the ambience inside is great. We are vegans and the food was great with the dishes freshly cooked and altered to suit our needs. Highly recommended.

Amazing food at a great price. Definitely the best restaurant around Kochi. The food & fish is fresh and locally sourced. Staff are very friendly and helpful & the drinks are super delicious. The layout of the restaurant is also very cool - with lots of interesting paintings, an half open roof and a courtyard with a well in the middle. I am so surprised that lonely planet / culture trip etc. have not recommended this yet. So so worth a visit. Wish I was staying longer so I could visit again.

Brilliant. The best lunch I had in Kochi by far and great service too.

Farmer's cafe is set in a charming traditional bungalow in the quieter side of Fort Kochi, but also close to the Princess Street. I loved the ambience in here. It was very calming and peaceful.
The food here is just as nice. I ordered fried eggs with toast for breakfast. This came with a nice surprise of fruits. My only regret is that I discovered this place at the end of my stay and couldn't come here for more meals.

The food was bland. The person handling the orders was arrogant. The farmer's meen curry was fine and was the only dish on the table with some flavour.

The only restaurant to visit!
With only an hour left to eat before jumping in an airport taxi, Farmers Cafe was the only place left on my list.

I shouldn't have left it to the last minute; next time I'm in town it'll be the only place I eat.

A beautiful building with garden courtyard hosts the only restaurant to serve organic free range chicken in town. They also have their own farm, and source from a local network of organic farmers.

While other places around town serve average food at high prices in fancy atmospheres, the Farmers Cafe serves excellent food at average prices in a serene and relaxed setting.

Do not miss this opportunity!

By far the best restaurant we have been to Kerala! We went there twice during our stay in Kochi. Food was great (prawn roll, fried calemare and prawn massala) and staff was super friendly. Nice Gallery too.

This café is situated in a slightly restored heritage building, so one should not expect a fancy setting. It is also not air conditioned. Most of the seating is on the mezzanine floor around an open air well which actually houses a functional well. Bring along mosquito repellent. Lunch menu is somewhat limited and two items were unavailable for order. Be prepared to pay tourist price. Food was pretty decent. I ordered seafood pasta and it tasted rather special, in a good way. Papaya shake with coconut milk was also good but it would have been better if it was served colder. They only accept cash and there is an ATM in the Post Office next door.

This is a must visit, try their fresh juice or even veg thali they are a delight. Very friendly staff and nice ambience. Located in an old house and you fall in love with the place the moment you enter. It’s new but definitely worth a visit.

This has to be one of the best breakfast cafe in the town, let the dilapidated looking building not fool or put you off! Easy to locate next to post office, one steps into their gallery room with few pieces on display. Leading into the open courtyard with wooden seating in the colonnaded walkway around it, on ground and first floor. Long before the food, the ambience really sets you up with nostalgia of Grandma's house back in the countryside. Can't think of a cafe with a well, cobbled flooring and such a layout. Ample natural light and menu items.
Excellent food options suitable to different asks. Tomato basil salad, Farmer's Omlette, masala tea and an extra french toast with honey n butter and the juicy half cut orange was just perfect way to start the day! Gunjan Caur
