Review Dhe Puttu - Kochi (Cochin)

Akhil Alappattu
Dhe Puttu specializes in a delightful array of 'puttu', and it truly lives up to its name. As a vegetarian, I found plenty of tasty options, and they offer a great variety for non-vegetarians too. The food was delicious, and the service was commendable. A highlight was the birthday celebration - the staff prepared a unique chocolate puttu, sang birthday wishes, and played a celebratory song. Cutting the chocolate puttu instead of a traditional cake added a fun and memorable twist to our visit.

It was my first time at Dhe Puttu and it was memorable. Being a Nepali, all the cuisine served was new for me but I loved the Taste of everything. The welcome drink, don't remember its name, was also awesome.

It's situated near the Edapally Grand mall. The food served here is mainly different types of putt with non veg and veg modifications added. The dish names are based on various films acted by Malayalam actor Dileep who is the co owner of the restaurant chain. The food served here is good in taste and have variety comparing with other restaurants. Also there is a black tea served along with the dishes which we can refill anytime and it tastes very good really like that black tea. The Ambience is good and whenever I went there I came across celebrities there often. The parking space is spacious and can park around 20 cars.
Midhun. M.Kumar
If you can tolerate the waiting time which is a little bit longer than the usual the food is delicious and worth it, especially the black tea serving like a welcome drink is absolutely a great start!

A wholesome experience for everything to do with kerala cuisine. Service was blazing fast, we placed the order, washed our hands and by the time we sat the order was ready. Amar Akbar Antony Combo, Roasted Banana Puttu, Neymeen Pollichathu, alongwith Idiyappam and the best egg curry I've had in a very long time. We reached at 8.30 pm on a weekday and found it very easy to get a table, felt the crowd increasing by around 9ish. Would highly recommend the amar akbar combo as it comes with a mini falooda as well which rounds off the meal amazingly well. It took a while to navigate the menu as the options and combinations were plenty, which is a good thing. Staff were cordial, not many smiles, the usual take the order-give the order experience. We paid Rs 1,200 for 3 people which given the variety was complete worth it. If not for the neymeen we would've ended up with a bill of just 700 Rs. Will surely return & recommend. PS : Try the nadodimannan combo as it comes with neymeen/king fish pollichathu.

I thought it was hype since the restaurant is a joint venture of two Malayalee actors. So it became famous in Kerala. But no, due to my curiosity and by looking at the food they served, I got tempted to try. Y'oh, it was excellent! I ate so quickly that I didn't realise there was nothing on the plate. It's probably the best puttu I've tried so far! There were a huge variety of puttu available on the menu; in fact, they also serve biryani and some curry items. The drinks were nice, and the décor was perfect. They nailed it! 💯✔️ In my 3 weeks of staying in Kerala, I came there twice, which was unfortunate because the second time the restaurant was still closed since it was 7 a.m. I was thinking of taking another visit; I passed the place on my out-of-town trip. But well, I obviously will get back there when I get a chance to try more of their delicious puttu! 🤍

We had a nice experience and enjoyed it. There were a lot of varieties of puttu available. The service and ambiance were excellent. However, I felt that for the price, the quantity of food was a bit less. Apart from that, everything else was really good.

Seems there is a lot of hype for their food. As per me it’s just a hype. They provide a lot of varieties of puttu and all are named basis the movies of actor Dileep. We ordered some 3 types of puttu which has fish, chicken & beef. Sad to say that these non veg items were very less and we couldn’t even find much on the puttu. All were like normal puttu where some few beef were sliced & put over it. They provide black tea which was good. The atmosphere was good. Have parking spaces also. But considering the food the rates are on a higher side. Also it’s not a place for a quick munch as mostly there would be waiting time also the food delivery takes time

It has been on my bucket list since a long time ago. This time unexpectedly reached here. In one word the experience was just 'awesome'. The taste, quality, service and everything was excellent.

I had an outstanding dining experience at Dhe Puttu in Edapally, Kochi. The Puttu, Egg Roast, Appam, and Fish Curry were all incredibly delicious, although quite spicy. If you're not a fan of heat, be cautious. The atmosphere was delightful, featuring impressive interiors that added to the overall charm. While the staff were good, a little more warmth and smiles could make the experience even better. A definite 5-star meal with minor room for improvement.

Dhe Puttu specializes in a variety of puttu dishes. We had chicken kheema puttu and maize puttu along with Kadala curry. The taste of both dishes was outstanding. The chicken kheema puttu had a perfect blend of spices and tender chicken pieces. The restaurant itself offers a pleasant ambience. Ample parking space is a significant convenience in the bustling area of Edapally. The courteous and attentive staff are the excellent part.

Dheputtu in Kochi impresses with its diverse puttu offerings. Traditional rice puttu boasts authenticity, while unique variations like ragi and wheat puttu showcase creativity. The menu also surprises with delightful combinations such as banana puttu. Each dish is expertly crafted, highlighting a perfect balance of flavors. With quality ingredients and friendly service, Dheputtu promises a satisfying culinary experience for puttu lovers in Kochi.

Always a fan of the Puttu varieties they offer here. There's always a waiting during peak times, which can be expected because the amazing experience you get. Otherwise, the experience is perfect.

Being in Kochi for so long, never explored Dhe Puttu, but I am glad I did this time. The food options and choices were beyond expectations. In a time people run behind Chinese and Arabic food, Dhe Puttu brings our traditional cuisine with an uplift. How much variety a Puttu can be? You'll be swept away with the kind of offerings they have. I've never tasted Puttu like this before. The taste and quantity let you try more options, all while without burning a hole in the pocket.

Dhe Puttu is one restaurant which never dissapoints! It's always my go to spot when I'm too hungry, because I know I'll walk out with a happy tummy. The photos added are from my multiple visits. I can't pick a particular dish to appreciate because everything I've had were equally good. We are welcomed with a free sulaimani drink which is very refreshing and they give you refills too. Many dishes here are named after Dileep's movies but the ingredients are elaborated next to it. Every dish is distinctive in their own way. If I had to pick my favorite it would be Erachi Puttum Beef Ularthiyathum. There may be a rush during weekends so do expect some waiting. There's plenty of parking space adjacent to the hotel. The service is not that great.. every time we had to wait for quite a long time for the waiter to come and take orders. But the amazing food and ambience will compensate for the service.

A different experience with Puttu. Loved the service, atmosphere and food. A must visit restaurant when you are in Kochi.

We visited Dhe Puttu after a lot of deliberation over the whole Dileep scandal, and what an experience it was.

I'm personally not a huge fan of puttu, but this place has definitely changed my outlook. We ordered the Erachi Puttum Beef Curryum, Kadala Curry, Chicken Kheema Puttu and Chemmeen Puttu.

The quantity of all was amazing, and heightened by the Sulaimanis served on the side.

Would definitely go back to try more of the menu.
Rosily
Ordered pazhampori and some dessert. It was a big disappointment. Tasteless and wasn't worth at all. If had an option would have given less than 1 rating
Jobyjkannoth
They used to give good food in the past. But now it’s different and no good food. Better order only Puttu related items. All other items not good.
Srijith Prakash
Poricha Kozhiyum Puttum is a must try! Excellent taste , quantity and packaging.

If there are any puttu haters in town then let's take them here ...to this paradise of puttu....they have a great service ...good food plus good service ,what more will make us happier ...the hotel has the odour of spices which I felt was super cool

Been there for lunch that too unexpectedly. .me and my frnd were completely surprised from the start till the end ,..1st they served a cinnamon tea which was refreshing ...and then we ordered a combo puttu (puttu, omelette, chicken curry, chammanthi, onion salad)it's the 1st time I ate these things together. ..after having that I felt like wasted 23 years of my life without having this combo with puttu (@ home)..puttu cannot be more soft than what they serve...this combo also had a falooda which we didn't notice and also they served it last. So we were really surprised, ..and along with this combo we ordered ring master puttu and biriyani puttu ...ring master puttu is stuffed with sea food and biriyani puttu is one with chicken filling with those spices ...

If u are craving for our nadan food then please do visit here ....i am in love with this place and will never ever miss a chance to visit here .such a heartwarming place it is...

Ordered veg meals from dhe puttu for home delivery ,whole sambhar had leaked and the packaging of the rice was very poor .how can someone pack sambhar in an aluminium foil box ...the aluminum pack became wet and tore off .Curries and gravy items should be given in a container .The rice packed in such a way that the paper in the aluminium foil was sticking to the rice .The packing is very very poor ,coming to the food -food was normal nothing great for the price paid ,the kootu curry was blank had no taste and the yam in it was not boiled well ..Please improve the packaging going forward in future it's a request and may be a variety for the veg and non veg meals is required.Thanks.

The most innovative restaurant ever. Never imagined one could bring such innovation to a simple puttu.
FoodPranthan
Food quality and taste is good.quantitly is very less compared to the price.spacious parking and card is acceptable.jeed to wait at least 10 min to get a seat.

So it seems funny that you'd want to go out and eat something as traditional and homemade as beef curry and puttu but in my opinion whether my mother makes it or whether it's outside, I still love puttu. The food here was so good. Especially the subtle spice of the beef curry which my spice hating mom thoroughly enjoyed much to my annoyance since I really love upping my chilli quota as much as I can go which is quite high. The wheat puttu is so soft and light yet so filling and that I don't get at home (sorry mom). The quail egg wheat puttu was good, but not my favorite since I just like my traditional puttu and beef or chicken curry. The cinnamon tea was the best accompaniment to the food and it was unlimited. So was the pappad. I can't wait to visit Kerala again if only for just this! The staff too deserve a special mention. They are so complying and friendly. Really a must visit.

Was here for dinner and we had to wait to get a table. We ordered Kappa biriyani puttu chicken and beef. I loved the chicken version more than beef.
Next we tried Spanish chicken puttu and chicken curry which was a dry version which was also very good. We also tried mini falooda for desert . The service was amazing, the staff was very friendly. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

Courteous staff and excellent food....👍

Pure puttu passion. Unlimited sulaimani. Delicious falooda. Wide variety to choose from. Amar Akbar Antony istam.

All the items are named with Dileep's malayalam movie names. We tried 2 countries and spanish masala along with veg kuruma. I loved the cinnamon tea more than puttu. They served puttu n curry with papad. Its worth a try and a different taste n flavor to your normal puttu taste and we had a wonderful experience. The staffs were really nice too
Atul P J
Would be nice if they could add more variety instead of the same recipes. So many variations are possible in puttu.

Best place to have puttu! I don't think I have seen such varieties of puttu made with so much love and taste anywhere else. Tried the beef curry and puttu, meeshamadhavan which had the chicken and the sea food Puttu. Loved every dish and plus points for the unlimited supply of kattan chaaya. Definitely worth the hype.
Taste 5/5
Ambience 4.5/5
Service 4/5
Value for money 4/5

Please start a branch in Bangalore ASAP. After going thru' all these reviews and feedback from my cousins in kerala, I am very eager to dine at your place. also I love puttu very much.

Look forward to your new outlet in Bangalore.

What should I say about this place... It is just awesome. For any north indian who wants to have authentic kerla South Indian food. I had puttu and appam with korma curry... It was delicious.
Place might look like simple but service and food was amazing. Most important it was very very very pocket friendly.

A very spacious restaurant with good hygiene and good food .. found it little expensive than the other restaurants but there is no compromise in quality they provide.. so it's worth it to pay a little extra for that

Puttu or Pittu originally a Tamilian recipe from deep down south Tamilnadu and Sri Lanka has a rich and wholesome health benefits.. Protein, Fats and fibrous. Making way to the breakfast tables of Malyalis. It's been made, served and consumed all across Kerala.

Indeed Puttu or Put as it is pronounced has a great variety. If you have been to the interior or rural Kerala you will find a variety of it...
However Dhe Puttu is extreme...it has reinvented the Puttu into something weird however great and most delectable.

I would call it as Puttu Fusion and intense. Indeed a no nonsense Puttu place and in serious business making a great living selling Puttus.
I mean where did the Puttu meet Spanish Chicken or when did Puttu travelled up north... Simple in the kitchens at Edallaly and the place is right here Dhe Puttu🌯

A must visit place. However it may not be a so regular palce for Puttu...would prefer Kadala Curry with Appam, indeed they serve it with smile...

Staff is courteous. Serves any request within no time...They have pace with BIG 😁 SMILE.
If you are a vegetarian, and in Kerala, this people are sesnetive...Indeed they serve some amazing varieties of vegetarian recipes...

Ensure you have enough patience while waiting for you PUTTU

Cheers

VIVECK patil
www.facebook.com/viveckspatil
Great ambience. Food is delicious and wide variety of puttu with amazing food presentation. We were a group of 5 and tried Amar akbar anothony puttu combo, Rama Leelaputtu combo, biriyani puttu, irachi choru and sea food fest choru. But portion size is less to the price charged. Ample car parking available. Overall a nice experience

Don't be surprised to see my rating. I was a frequent visitor here whenever I visited Kochi. Now this place has dropped on their hygiene, standards, service and quality etc. We ordered as usual 6 different types of Puttu, all of them were rock hard and felt like it was cooked atleast 10 hours in advance and just served by 1 minute oven heating. Never visiting again

One of the best restaurants I ever visited. It was surely a big surprise! Amazing food! The ambience was great! Loved the mutton curry and biryani puttu.

One of the iconic dishes from Kerala! Yes that’s the Puttu- an innovative dish of broken rice layered with meat or seafood cooked in spices and steamed in a bamboo steamer, traditionally. It’s is said that there are more than 300 varieties of puttu or simply called rice cakes. It was a breakfast dish which graduated to an all day offering. One such popular place in Kerala is Dhe Puttu. It had a quirky take on the traditional favourite and had a cult following in Kochi. We tried the Runway puttu with brown rice, shrimps and beef. The puttu was nice but felt a bit dry for my palate- that’s when the mutton curry came as a saviour alongside the quintessential beef fry - sorry no pictures though! They had an interesting beverage menu also - tried their Ceylon ice tea but it was too sweet. Nevertheless the service was super quick and ambience had a great vibe. But this is one place if you’re a true Puttu fan! You’ll not be disappointed. @ Dhe Puttu

This is a very nice restaurant. This is one of the best restaurants in Kochi. I liked the various varities of puttu. Staffs are very friendly.

We had waited for almost 1 hr to get a seat. After having the food now I can say that it was a mere waste, could have done some useful work. Dishes are normal with abnormal prices.

You can find every variety of puttu you wish for. The food is so tasty and neat. Though there is heavy rush to this restaurant, the management manages a very neat and ambient atmosphere inside the restaurant by allowing only people inside when the tables are free. Whoever inside the restaurant can have there food with peace and have a nice tym with family

We visited Dhe Puttu in April second week as a group of 7. Puttu(Steam cake) of different varieties is the main dish here. It comes in a variety of flavours where rice is replaced by Puttu. The ambience is very good and cosy. Service is also fine. Price point is also not very high. We ordered Special thali, Kozhuva fry, Runway, Ring master, Amar Akbar antony, Prawn Biryani puttu, Chicken Biryani puttu, Chicken keema puttu, Kappa beef Biryani puttu &
Mini falooda.
Kozhuva fry was a disappointment and can be skipped
Amar Akbar Antony is combination of Puttu, omelette & mini falooda and a must try.
Another favourite was Special Thali and all the Biryani puttus.

Average Cost for two people is approx. 600 INR
My rating : 3.5 stars on 5

Amazing place with really tasty food. We had the chef Special Kumara Sambhavam Puttu and Chicken Biriyani Puttu. Both were amazing and exquisite

There's nothing like dhe puttu. Ordered 7 sundara ratrikal, Punjabi house, with kada curry a combo meal and a mix vegetable curry. Ah-mazing!!! Lovely ambience, great variety of puttu, good quality and quantity of food, unlimited Sulaimani and papadam, friendly staff, reasonable price, great location. Need I say more? My hometown is much near to Trivandrum airport, but I always get down at Cochin just to have some puttu at dhe puttu.

If you want to enjoy authentic Kerela cuisine then this is your destination in Cochin.

Everything here is based with puttu which you get both in veg and non veg option.

The decor and ambience were good when you compare to cochin standard but for me it was perfect place as it had an effective air conditioning which is not present in majority of good restaurants.

As you get seated you have on your table you are able to read on what is puttu and how it is made. You are also served with a welcome tea once you are seated. It was a flavoured tea but too sweet from my taste and being warm it was difficult to complete the full glass.

The menu is has good for both veg and non veg persons.

If you are 3-4 people then you must try family puttu treat as it gives you to taste 7 different type of dishes (5 non veg + 2 veg) with 3 puttu with sweet dish and refreshing juice drink as well.

Had tried the veg, chicken and prawn puttu and all were amazing.

The appams and vegetable curry was also to relish. You could also try and. Summer coolers which are also well made.

There could be a long waiting as I saw atleast 20 odd chairs outside suggesting long waiting during lunch and dinner time.

It's an awesome restaurant...
I really enjoyed it a lot. Well equipped with a lot of variety food. Not much costly you can set out with a happy mind. Excellent customer service and support from their part. They gave much preference to cleanliness....

Had ordered Biriyani Puttu, Italian Puttu, Garlic Sauce Puttu, Rasikan Puttu.
Ambience was great, and they welcomed with Sulaimaani 👌
Garlic n itilalian puttu had same taste. Puttu was served with sauce of similar type!
Mutton Biriyani puttu was great, but lacked a good gravey to eat with it
Service was too good, but cost was also high!
Must try Coconut Lemonade

Rasikan Puttu was mix of Jam N Choclate and was okish!

#puttu #Kochi
Vidhya Bala

The Restaurant is spacious and there is availablity of varieties of dishes. But almost all dishes are overpriced. Also the quantity is very less

A good place for puttu lovers.... Great ambience and good food... Non puttu lovers should try their appam and egg curry which is a very good option.. The hot black tea that they provide as a welcome drink is also yummy ... good parking facility is available

If you are interested in trying different flavors of Puttu, then this is the right place to be in. For people who don't know what this 'Puttu' is, it is a rice powder based steamed cake which are mostly plain, savoured with different curries. Mostly a south indian dish, it also fans in Sri Lanka.
Vishus Narayanan N
We ordered around 7 items. Price range of these each was 200 - 300. Food was really disappointing considering the quantity and price. 7 sundara raathrikal was one of the big mistake. Kappa puttu was okay. They serve everything with papad and Sulaimani. I will not recommend this hotel for any.

The best place in town to eat variety of puttu (rice cake).. mix of meat, sea food and chicken in one go. The ambience is good, service is quick and the staff are very friendly

A classic place to have famous Kerala cusines . This should be one of the best place in whole Kerala for Kerala cusines

Food and Price: Try there dhe puttu. They have variety of fusion puttu. If you are going for lunch then try their special thali. For price they give best quality in a very resonable price

Ambience: Nice ambience with courteous staff

Service: Fast but not over the weekends

PS: Get ready for waiting over weekends.

Not just an ordinary puttu kada. A classic place with our most ethnic food, turned into a wonder - with so many different flavors and taste. (Try ram leela puttu). The ambience is pleasant and the staff are friendly too. The place is always hectic, so better take ur patience along too! :)

Had been to this restaurant on my way to the airport along with my wife and cousins.

Yet another theme based restaurant and the theme itself is so unique i.e. puttu ( rice steamed cake).

There are so many dishes made from our simple puttu.

Never ever had thought that the traditional, simple and humble puttu which we used to eat in breakfast can be served in so many varieties .

Hats 🎩 off to the team who got this idea👍👍

Another exiting things about this restaurant is the name of the dishes as this restaurant belongs to Kerala super star DILIP so all the dishes are named after the name of his successful movies .

Over all a great ambience

Good food
Good service
Great ambience
Pricing on a little higher side

Highly recommended 👍

Enjoyed the special thali (prawns), beef Biryani puttu and the chicken puttu (ram leela)!! The sulaimani chai is awesome!! Has a great flavour. The hot (herbal/jeera) water is nice to have(healthy)!! The service is excellent!! Good and quick!! Lovely ambiance. Nice South Indian music. Very reasonably priced place.

How do you elevate the humble puttu to a work of art? Well, Dhe Puttu seems to have all the answers. I went in there on an out of town trip since it had been recommended big time by friends.

And I wasn't disappointed. You name it, and they'll stuff the puttu with whatever you want: Fish, prawns, chicken, mutton or beef. I had the beef puttu since it is unavailable in other parts of the country. And it was next level stuff. The beef stuffing was juicy and divine.

And one puttu was a meal in itself.

They also have thaalis: non veg and veg. I suggest you stick to the non veg stuff only.

Definitely worth a visit.

Was in kochi for a day and wanted to try something unique. And it's hard to find something more unique than dhe puttus concept. The ordering in process was a bit difficult and our delivery came in pretty late. The packaging had a lot of room for improvement as well. The food itself was pretty good though. We absolutely loved all the variants from Quail to crab to chicken and you can see a lot of effort was gone into curating the menu.

I hope they step up their delivery and catering game. Food is spot on.

Owned by renowned Malayalam cinema artist Dileep this is one of the hotspots in Cochin, the restaurant stands apart for varieties of Puttu/Rice flour cake which is a typical local cuisine. You can enjoy n-number of choices in Menu starting from ordinary Chennai/rice/marble Puttu. Very well maintained and is suitable for Vegetarians lovers too. I had made many visits along with family and friends.

Superb food and service!
I had ordered beef curry and puttu. The dish was of the highest quality and very high on innovation. Loved the tea and pappadam that is served along with it.
The service was excellent with the staff concerned about how much the food was liked by the customer and were nice and chatty
Cannot wait to visit cochin again so that I can try other dishes at dhe puttu

Hi guys I have given it only 2 stars. But let me give you the reasons.I went during lunch hours around 15days back.I ordered veg meal option and my friend ordered non veg meal option. The taste was not that great. This is my 2nd visit to this place and my expectations was on a higher side. The black tea you get usually more than once is no more I think. We got it only once but still the most I felt bad was the loss of warmth while serving food. The customer experience we got the 1st time was good but not this time. The 2nd waiter came to collect the bill amount had a big attitude on his face.Actually as I was swapping my card as a customer I smiled but he never .I think this kind of response is not good.Definetly still that interior decoration is good.I will surely change my review if things get better, if ever I go to that place again.

Went there to try duck curry back in 2016.... Both the duck and chicken curry was delicious.... Had puttu for the first time..No wait time.. Yummy food and good service.
They even had a feedback form.
This place just shows how you take the most simplest of dishes and reimagine them to work wonders. But it is also about the ambience, the spice infused black tea and papadam that make it work for them. For anyone trying this place out , you need to try the thali options first. Rest of everything is pretty standard. Also their impeccable quality of delivering same standard needs to be appreciated as in my umpteen visits the experience has been the same. Cheers !!

A place filled with variety puttu. This Kerala dish and restaurant is definitely recommended for non Keralites. Pretty descent ambience and easily reachable with a vast parking area, this place is a good option for family get togethers.

Nice place to taste different types of Puttu . If you are tired of regular puttu . Then this is the right place .. you can find unique variety.

Must try : Biriyani puttu, special sarbath.

Keralites always have rapport towards puttu. Dhe puttu is perfect for them. Have enough parking and awesomesauce ambience but they vouchsafed Dileep movie names to their signature dishes. Overall Dhe puttu will never disgruntle you and your appetite.

Very famous for the person who owns this restaurant. Its all about varieties of putte here. They serve putte in every possible combination you can think of. And its all named after the super hit movies of Dileep. Ambiance is pretty good with quick and nice service. Its a different place to all the usual restaurants we have in the city. But, overall, its is not a place I would like to go back again and again.

Roaming around in Lulu ,shopping for no reason got us a bit hungry. Looked for a decent place to have food around , came Dhe Puttu into mind. The place is cozy , family-friendly restaurant. We ordered a biriyani puttu , which was pretty decent . Also the two countries which is a mix of both chicken and beef and also a masala omelete. The two countries tasted fine , also the omelete did fine , good quantity though for the omelete. The unlimited sulaimani and pappad just made my day ♥️. And amazing service . Love to go back again .

First off, let me make this clear! This is regarding a delivery order I had made on Sept 10th - Janapriyan combo. I wanted to write a delivery review, but right after rating it, I got a call and when I came back to the delivery review page, Zomato had saved my rating and I was unable to write anything! So why now? Well I had forgotten about the whole episode but a prompt response for another delivery order made on Sept 7th evoked pleasant memories of the latter and thought I would share to others' benefit! This item literally does no justice to it's name as there is hardly anything 'Janapriyan' about it! What I got is masala puttu with no masala, egg roast which would instantly shoot up your cholesterol levels as it was basically a boiled egg in oil with again the masala missing! Yes, there was chicken fry which seems to have been made from a just born chick! Oh, I almost forgot, their signature salad which is cut vegetables without any dressing whatsoever! The icing on the cake was Pazhampani which I guess is their way of doing their bit to the nature by serving overripe bananas in sugar syrup! Maybe they serve well at their restaurant, but in regard to their delivery, I am done!

I ordered food from Dhe Puttu Edapally and it was delivered in short period with very clean and proper packing. The food was very tasty and was very hot. Also the rates are very reasonable and can afford to all. Thanks and i will continue to take more items in future.

The best part about this place is its service quality! Its really great! Service is quick and neat! The food is also really good! we ordered irachi puttu and 2 countries and both turned out to be really good! The sulaimani that serve with the food is great as well! We actually forgot to order a curry, the irachi puttu is a bit dry sort of puttu and the waiter guy asked if we wanted curry as well. Well we didn't order any! But still it was great
Another amazing part is the unlimited pappadam that you get here! One amazing place to try at kochi!
Kudos!! Way to go! ❤

This place has been serving kochiites since quite some time now. A very different and novel idea based on traditional malayali staple food. Never thought you can make so many varieties in puttu. Went there after a late night movie nearby. The ambience is beautiful with old Malayalam melodies complimenting the food. Prices are decent and service is prompt. We had wheat, white & chemba puttu with mutton curry. Personally I prefer the white puttu. The mutton curry was ok, but could have had a couple more pieces. Kada fry was good. The only glitch we had was they billed for 2 kada fries whereas they served only one. But I believe that was a honest mistake and they adjusted the final bill. Overall was a good experience.

Food and the ambience are great. only thing is have to wait to get a seat. Service also great. Especially chef Mr. Sinoy knows what the guest want to taste. He himself help us to select the dishes. For kids they have so many varieties like Chocolate puttu and Cashew Puttu etc.

All the very best to Team Dhey Puttu.. Keep it up.

I do really wish that dhe puttu opens a branch in bangalore. Such an awesome place it is. Irachi and prawns puttu is really good. 👍 a must visit place if you are in kochi. The best part is that it is not pricey at all.

Hardly any beef! Don't understand how this can be called thali when the only additional items are pappadam, red sauce and cut vegetables passing off as salad! Have attached the screenshots!

Amazing puttu served here !! Their duck puttu is my very favourite. Also had the ‘Kada’ fry (it’s a small quail whole bird fried), it was perfectly done. They also serve complimentary Sulaimani which taste amazing as well. Keep up the great taste guys , you’ve got a Fan here :)

Easy accessible and plenty of working. Service is excellent and most of the time it’s crowded. We tried the family treat combo, it’s perfect for a small family max. 4 including kids. Puttu was super soft and all the dishes where above average and tasty. They provide a welcome drink and it’s sulaimani. Price is little on the higher side but value for money.

The main reason for this review is cuz of the amazing service. I went to Dhe puttu years back when they had jus opened and can’t believe it that after so many years they still Have a crowd waiting outside. the security guy SHAJI was extremely sweet and courteous. The staff FAISAL and SENJU kept up with all our fussy requests with a smile. The main course was yummy but the avatharam dessert was a big big disappointment. However we had a good time and our Tummies r full! 😊

For the bucks you spend, the quality and quantity of food is fabulous! The service was quite fast and responsive. They offer parking service elsewise would be disastrous.

We were planning to shop at fabindia which is in the same building just above this restaurant, so we decided to try the food since we been hearing a lot of hype about this restaurant and I haven’t tried the food at their Dubai branch yet. Since it was 5pm we ordered tea and their roasted banana puttu in Chemba flour and rice flour, for the kids we took their ice cream puttu. The roasted banana puttu was delicious! The ice cream puttu was just average in taste as it didn’t have much flavour but my son enjoyed it as it had his favourite cereal around and ice cream on the top. The service and ambience in the restaurant is really good. Definitely visiting this restaurant in Dubai to try their savoury puttu.

The restaurant serves variety of steam cakes called puttu. The puttus are named based on Malayalam movies starred by Dileep. The restaurant serves curries along with puttu which are really spicy and very tasty. Their complementary sulaimani is also very good.

taste is not impressive....one among the worst in kochi.

You think you’ve eaten puttu... for the non-malayali who’s never eaten it- it’s a rather bland, cylinder of steamed powdered rice , edged with grated coconut -and you eat it with a banana or chick pea curry, and it’s ....okay.....
Your mama makes you eat it and you begin to like it over time.
Well, this isn’t your mama’s puttu.. this is a rich, savory experience in a great ambience
I recommend newbies to try the family treat if you have three people in your group. You get to try five non veg curries, two veg, three stuffed puttus, 2 veg, juice and two desserts for the cost of three puttus anyway
It’s great value and you choose chicken, duck, mutton, prawn and fish, the duck and chicken are excellent as is the Schezwan Paneer , simply fabulous
The veg chickpeas ( kadala/ Channa) curry is just okay
The stufffed puttu is soft and not firm like the home puttu but , like any putting, needs a curry to wash it down
Go for lunch as I’ve heard evenings are crowded
Ask for the family treat
You need a curry to go with your dryish puttu, so a curry is essential for the full taste experience and the chicken and duck are my favorites.
Price for the family meal is 745 plus tax and is the best deal in my experience, as you get such a large variety of curries, puttus, desserts and juice plus their lovely cinnamon black tea to wash it down
Highly recommended!

Since my sister and I are both here at the same time, we decided to take the family out for dinner.

After I think, an hour of negotiations we decided on Dhe puttu. I have wanted to go here several years ago but somehow never did and now that I did not want to go here I did however. So ironic!

Anyway we called them 45 minutes before to put in our names on the waiting list. We did end up half an hour late but they seated us quickly.
The hustle and bustle in this place is unebelivable.
The restuarant was packed. There were several families waiting outside as well.
The food had to be good right?

While everyone scavaged through the menu achan pointed the crab stuffed puttu to me and I decided to go with his suggestion. After all crab is my favorite.. The others ordered puttu stuffed with prawns biriyani, kunji koonan, a veg puttu , puttu and chicken masala, two kid meals.

It took around 20 ish minutes and the food was served. The kiddo meals arrived after 30 minutes.
While the prawn curry served with my puttu was flavorful and had the right amount of spice, I was disappointed at the abysmal amount of crab in my puttu. They have shredded the crab and it can be hard to identify it. As one would expect , someone who ordered a dish for crab would be irked at the lack of crab.
The rest of the family seemed content with what they were served.
They happily keep restocking pappadams and their puttu is soft and good which explains the crowd.
Puttu stuffed with prawns biriyani is actually puttu with prawns masala which is ok but I think it deserves a mention just so that you don't go in expecting biriyani.

In the end we ordered a large round of desserts in the form of sundaes and payasam topped with ice cream and a cold coffee for me.
I have been craving the cold coffee served in India for about 2 years now and I think I have build up some sort of a hype due to its unavailability and hence I was unimpressed.

This place has good value for money. We ordered a decent portion of food for 5 adults and 2 kids and the amount we paid was around 1545.x Rs.

I think anyone who does want to give this place a shot should because it is good food.

Rate-o-meter suggests a 3.5

Bon appetit!
