Review Tandoor Restaurant - Kochi (Cochin)

Shravani Thorat
We tried the Butter chicken, Butter Naan with Chicken Lollipop. Everything was really good, had been butter chicken for a while, and it was the right choice to try it here. It was flavourful, the quantity was good. The staff is welcoming, the service is great. The ambience & the music gives you a vintage touch. Overall I loved the experience.

The culinary experience at this establishment was undeniably fantastic. We indulged in a delightful array of dishes that left our taste buds thoroughly satisfied. The extensive menu showcased a tantalizing assortment of options, each promising a unique and delectable journey for the palate. From the moment we placed our orders, it was evident that the culinary expertise here was top-notch. The flavors that graced our taste buds were nothing short of exquisite. Every dish was a testament to the chef's dedication to creating memorable dining experiences. The crowning jewel of our meal was undoubtedly the gulabjamun, a traditional Indian dessert. It was a flawless conclusion to our gastronomic adventure. The gulabjamun was a sublime combination of sweetness and texture, perfectly encapsulating the essence of this beloved dessert. In conclusion, our visit to this establishment was a culinary delight. The diverse and mouthwatering menu offerings, coupled with impeccable execution, left an indelible impression. And, of course, the gulabjamun was the icing on the cake, a testament to the culinary excellence that this place embodies. We left with contented hearts and satisfied palates, eager to return for another unforgettable dining experience.

The food was just average. The sweet corn chicken soup was good, but corn ,which gives a special taste to it was really less.,but it was served really hot, which was great.Tried the roti and kadai chicken. However found the curry was a bit spicy, which didn't let us enjoy the taste. Tried the tandoori chicken also, which was also good with a nice flavour... The service is really good and the ambience is also nice. The dish too is served super hot in live kadai. However found the dishes were a bit overpriced.

Absolutely fantastic. Dark, elegant dining room. Fast friendly service. The food? Absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the mutton curries.

Best Mutton Fry and Tandoori! Great Masala Chai! I do not normally give good reviews, but I have say. Highly recommend the food was awesome, great staff and parking is available. Coming back tomorrow!
Pablo
Wonderful food and great prices. The Paratha is delicious, the chicken korma spectacular. The portions are huge, I ate all of this food but it is enough for two people, I was completely full after it. Workers are nice and they do great recommendations on what to order.
Reina Furukawa
Tasty foods and good atmosphere. The restaurant seems popular, but international credit card wasn’t acceptable.
Sebastian Joy Panattil
A great place for eating out with family. Highly varied cuisine. Must try their North Indian dishes like Kulcha, Chicken Kathi Rolls and Paratha. Parking space is available in an adjacent lane.

We had our lunch on the first floor of the restaurant where they served the lavish Andhra meals. The service was super quick and the dishes were awesome, even more so for someone who had been missing this for more than 5 years..!!! So anyone who is in Kerala, in and around Ernakulam/Kochi and wants to eat Andhra meals, do drive here, you will not be disappointed with their lunch spread served in traditional banana leaf.! We also had pepper chicken but couldn't complete that fully as the lunch itself was too good and it's unlimited.! And there was freshly cooked jilebi and gulab jamun for very reasonable price. We also took a takeaway of the lunch menu, and it was packed well in tight containers. Overall, I was happy with the telugu lunch at the restaurant and would visit it once more while we are in that area. Parking is minimal. Gave one star less for atmosphere is because it was over crowded when we were there.

Forever favourite dinner spot for some amazing Kadai Chicken & Tandoori Naan. Been a regular customer for years and never disappointed. Usually go here for dinner with family. Parking space available. And good customer service. Have and Would definitely recommend 💯💯

Chilies located on the first floor of Tandoor serve Andhra cuisines. We tried their Andhra veg thali and fish curry meals. Despite the fact that the pricing was a bit higher than average, their food was tasty and of good quality, especially having rice mixed with ghee and gun powder chutney.
Harshad Damodaran
Good service and was absolutely a scrumptious treat. Mutton handi didn't have fleshy meat and all the 4 pieces were mostly bony. Both gulab jamun and caramel custard were an average.
nidhin chandran
Nice restaurant, good food, they only serve meals at first floor, the place had very few Keralaites, they were limited to the ground floor. Andhra meals was nice and authentic. Other items in the menu were also good but Mutton could have tasted better.
Bhargava Krishna
After searching for Andhra meals around kochi got to know about this place in YouTube and visited this one finally. Went there on Sunday night after 9pm and half of the restaurant at 1st floor is empty and waited for 10min to get attended, veg Andhra meals priced 181 on menu has been served on banana leaf with dal podi, pickles... Dal, sambar, brinjal fry, chutney and rasam. Payasam also given as part of meal. Dal podi, ghee, chutney with hot rice is just wow. Other items also tasted and they're good. Ordered and.tasted gulab jamun which is okay. Prices are bit high, ambience and service is ok. I felt satisfied visiting and having food in this visit.

The best option for Andra meals. The service is good and hospitality is great. You will find parking very close to the restaurant. The restaurant serve you authentic Andra non veg and veg dishes. We tried chicken item only, heard that mutton items are also a definitely try one. The highlight was the resam they served with the meals.

Bad experience. Visited this place last weekend with my family. Ordered murg achari tikka as starter. Chicken pieces were marinated with excess masala, felt the raw taste while eating. Stopped eating and informed the manager that tikka masala is still raw and over-marinated. His reply was epic, "this is the kind of marination they use for people who drinks alcohol"" excuse me, i am here with my family in a restaurant not bar. Friends never go to this place, food is average and attitude from management is poor.
Sri Trinadh Kumar Madala
Enjoyed the very best chicken items which are so authentic in taste... but the egg fried rice and chicken fried rice smelled with fish oil... nevertheless a best restaurant in Kochi....
Nasif Ahmed Navas
Waited for exactly 19 minutes, none of the restaurant executives bothered to take the order. A restaurant with such good ambience should have trained the staffs well i suppose. Well!! abt food, may be next time.!! Being hungry, this place should be your last option.
Nirmala Das
Visited this place last weekend. First of all they didn't serve drinking water in spite of many requests. Ordered chicken tikka & paneer tikka as starters & Kadai chicken with other items. It seems they don't know what these items are. We expressed our displeasure & they were not bothered.

Very nice restaurant and North Indian food in good quantities to serve

Dear tandoor, Had lunch yesterday at andhra meals with my guests and had a bad experience of uncooked chicken in your biriyani. No response from your staff and they are in a hurry to get my bill paid.

Its my favourite eatery where they serve you real hot Andhra food on bannana leaves, with gongura and avakka straight from Andhra. Dont miss it.

After reading the good reviews on Zomato,I ordered mutton pepper fry and chicken pepper fry. Both were horribly bad and tasted basically the same. There were hardly 2 pieces each with a lot of dry, chalky masala and left a terrible after-taste. The food did not seem fresh.
Siya
Food very tasty...But icecream quantity is very low.....
Mathewbipin.sunny
I ordered 3 chicken biryani quantity was good but it is so spicy that it put’s my stomach on 🔥 because there was so many red chilies in it .So I request the restaurant to put down spices in your Biryani.
Shaun Fernandez
The best Tandoori chicken compared to any of the big guns in the city.. Excellent portion size.. N superb taste<br/>
Jinu Sivanandan
It was way too spicy. Could not eat. Too many green chillies.
Latha P S
Amazing kàati rolls and for 100rs Wil definetly order more value for money and sufficient quantity.....tnq Tandoor for bringing the taste of Kolkata
Simranpreet Singh
I ordered for my family 5 members. The tandoori chicken portions were poorly cut and not enough. The butter chicken was extremely sweet almost like a dessert.
MARIA THE ONE
The curry everything was yummy...but there is only two pieces of paneer in a Palak paneer and butter naan combo. Only two!😀

Zomato and Swggie not delivery in tripunithura area...please do the needful...Thank you...

Tandoori chicken was awesome and the pudding delicious 😋 .Packing was perfect 👌
Vijay Kandru
Tandoori Roti was very soggy and tough to eat. Palak paneer was far below the expected standard
Kudu Philip
Bad chicken Korma. They didn't cook it fresh, just heated up stuff they kept in the fridge. I'm never ordering food from here.
Hasininair
We visited the restaurant for dinner. Service is amazing. Staff and manager are very polite and friendly. No doubt, all dishes we tried, were delicious. Would definitely recommend. :)

I would love to get the recipe of pepper mutton fry it's the best dish I have eaten
Anand.narayanan29
This place is revelling in past glory ! The ch FS have changed , there was one time when it was really awesome but all that's just been replaced with some greasy food which is charged excessively !
Debasish Kundu
Stale mutton pieces were served, waiter was unapologetic, says mutton is like that. Would advice not to have mutton there.

One of the oldest north Indian food places in the city. Tandoor has been a name that has been ringing bells since I can remember. It served the most authentic north indian food back in the days. Still it upholds the tradition and serves mouth watering food. I cannot even count or remember the number of times that I have eaten from here. My go to dishes are Butter Naan, Butter chicken and Tandoori chicken. Even after all this time and after so many north indian restaurants have popped up, I would say that they still serve the best Tandoori chicken in town. If you havent visited this place yet, please do try as you are missing out on an integral part of Kochi's food history.

Lovely Ambience and crowd. No parking. Great food and good service. A bit on the expensive side.<br/><br/>Got masala Pappad. Kadhai Chicken. Paneer. And roti and naan.<br/><br/>They can work on their packaging skills.<br/>

Must Try Dishes - <br/><br/>Pepper Chicken (Served with thick spicy gravy) <br/>Pepper Mutton (Served with thick spicy gravy)<br/>Rumali Roti <br/>Butter Naan <br/><br/>All 4 makes great combo!<br/><br/>

Ordered fried rice with chilly chicken. The food was cold, had egg shells in it. Tasted bad. Overall very bad experience from tandoor. Never again
Shria Kuruvilla
Nice place for a north indian meal. The butter Naan and butter chicken is a must try from this place.the gravy of the butter chicken had the right amount of sweet and spice and the chicken was soft and tender. The ghee rice we ordered was bland and could have been better
Riya Larin
One of my favourite place for North Indian dishes. Good ambience and car parking. Their butter naan, butter chicken, kadai chicken, Tandoori chicken are my favourites. You get full and half portions of the curries. In soups you must definitely try out the Manchow soup..it's yummy.
Srikanth Sai
This place had really bad food. Everything we ordered was extremely bad, liked only the paneer. The non veg dishes are really bad. Not a good place to visit.

Have been going to TANDOOR for past 26 plus years literally. It used to be one of my favourite places. One of my favourite dishes used to include chicken tikka makhanwala, hong king chicken, Kadhai chicken , malai kofta to name a few. But for the past few months, perhaps from the recent years their food quality has drastically come down. For example their malai kofta has become watery, no nuts in kofta ( cashew nuts used to stuffed into koftas ), chicken tikka makhanwala has becum tasteless and to increase the portion more tomatoes added and less chicken. Quality of oil being used is very inferior. I believe palm oil is being used. One does not really expect things like this from a restaurant like TANDOOR. In my last order with them ordered crispy vegetables. All I got was onions & capsicums, nothing else. No cauliflower, mushrooms, baby corns etc from a Chinese dish. Kadhai chicken, butter chicken being their signature dishes have long lost their taste & flavour. The only thing that has rose is their price of dishes. I really don’t mind paying, but pleas provide quality. I really hope TANDOOR improves its customer satisfaction.
Gitanjali Rajesh
The hot n sour vegetarian soup seemed to have a non veg flavour. The Dum Aloo definitely needed more flavour. The Button Mushroom in Hot Garlic sauce was tasty.
Reshma
The best kadai chicken in town... Ambience is really great... Hot grape juice is a must try... Tandoor has always been my fav since my childhood... If u r a north Indian food lover then this is then right place.. A great place to dine out will family.. Good parking facilities too
Sam_lakmi
All the dishes I ordered were good. Loved the Andhra chicken roast & Paneer Khathi roll. Chicken was really yummy. Mutter palak could have been better. Jeera rice was tasty. Overall it was satisfying.
Akhil Joseph
One of the oldest restaurants in kochi. Have been going there for years. Food is just amazing, be it Chinese or North Indian cuisine. Would definitely suggest this place to everyone.
Nikhil Jose
The food did not impress me, but the ambience however did. I liked the lighting and the overall vibe of this place. The staff are very courteous and would take care of  you till the very end. The pricing is little on the higher side and the starters are not bad, especially the tandoor items. The seating is not very uncomfortable and the food takes a little time to reach your table. <br/><br/>So, we ordered Dahi Bhalla Papdi Chaat, Murgh Achari tikka, Paneer Tikka, Tandoori Roti, Butter Chicken and Kadai Chicken. The Dahi Bhalla Papdi Chaat was not that great, I know having tasted the typical Dahi Bhalla Papdi Chaat in the north I was not expecting the same taste here, but, this was just disappointing. I did not get what I was paying for, the curd was sour, the Papdi had an oily taste and had ginger pieces. I have never tasted ginger in Dahi Papdi, I don't think the actually dish had ginger pieces in it, atleast I have never come across one until today. Also, this dish had an overload of cumin powder, so this started off on a bad note. I was happy with the Paneer Tikka, big pieces, rightly cooked and with the right amount of flavours, nothing overpowering each other. So was the Murgh Achari Tikka, perfectly cooked, with the tangy flavour tickling your tongue wanting for more. The Butter chicken was a big let down, an overpowering taste of tomatoes just killed this dish for me. The chicken pieces were perfectly cooked, I wish the dish was made properly as Butter Chicken happens to be one of my most favourite dishes. Talking about the Tandoori Roti, it went well with the Kadai Chicken, not elasticky and cooked to perfection made the dish to get some plus points from my side. The last dish that we had was Kadai Chicken, I like the way it was served and it smelled good as well. The chicken was perfect, the taste was perfect, lots of flavours coming together to make this dish a happy one which did change my mood eventually.<br/><br/>To be honest, I am not very impressed by what I had today ( except for one or two dishes), so not a very pleasant experience here. I would like to give the -<br/><br/>Food - 3/5<br/>Service - 4/5<br/>Ambience - 3.5/5<br/><br/>P.s. - Towards the end I had ordered for a sweet and salt lime soda, I am pretty sure that the lime that they had used was not a fresh one, as I could make out the unpleasant taste that you get from an old lemon when you squeeze it for the juice. ( another let down)
Gunja Banik
My all time favourite restaurant in Kochi...this place never disappoints me....absolutely love their chicken sagwala lip smacking taste ...you will definitely come back to try this again. ..do try their kulfi it's really good. ..love the ambience. ..you must try this place if you are around.

The seating here has big rat holes and I saw a rat getting in there. It’s very evident and next time you go , check those big rat holes where you sit . Although they changed the seating due to the same problem , the rats still thrive there

Review No 441:<br/><br/>Tandoor has been adoring the lane near Kalyan Silks (close to the Durbar Hall) for as far as I can remember. We had a family lunch sit down here after eons.<br/><br/>Ambience: The place has been through its fair bit of touch ups over the years and looks welcoming. I could not fathom why you would have the same cartoon picture of a Sardarji across the walls. Putting pictures of the fields of the Northern belt, faces etc could have been more apt. My 2 cents. The seating was comfortable.<br/><br/>What did we order: Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Roast, Butter Naan’s, Paneer Butter Masala and Jeera Rice? It’s always a pleasure to find a good decent north Indian cuisine place when we travel. From the cooking of the meat to the usage of spices in the curries, the chef did work up a good meal for us to forget that we were actually sitting in Cochin.<br/><br/>Oh did i mention that the plates were kept on our table very warm and the serving dishes too were in line with the northern part of our country.<br/><br/>Service: There were only 3 guests in the place in the afternoon besides our pack. The Service was attentive. I would love to see how they react to a full house situation.<br/><br/>Price: Apt for the location, food and service.<br/><br/>Food: 3.5/5<br/>Price: 3.5/5<br/>Service: 3.5/5<br/>Ambience: 3.5/5 <br/>*****************<br/>Overall: 3.5/5

Head to Tandoor for the best dhaba style chicken in Kochi. An eatery with an open kitchen with simple cane chairs adding to the informal feel of a ‘dhaba’.A good place to have dinner with family. Ambience was okay and service was prompt. One of the oldest, prestigious and fine place for North Indian dining. Finest Veg Manchow soup in town. Tandoori chicken is quite tasty and worth. It would tempt you to go there again and again. They have a variety of rice's, pulavu, roti, chicken, fish, prawns, egg, paneer, aloo...the list is too big.The advatage is that both vegetarians and non vegetarians have good selections and the price is moderate too. Overall a fine restaurant to dine in.

Great authentic food. Nice menu but little expensive. The food is almost worth the cost and can definitely fill you up. They have good starters and snacks too. Pop in if you're in the neighborhood

Really good place.<br/>Have only been there for dinners.<br/>Used to be a go to dinner place few years ago.<br/>Very good service.<br/>Good food. Lovely setup.<br/>Butter chicken and butter naan are my favorites.

Best restaurant to have tandoori and Kadai items (veg or non veg) in ernakulam... Nice ambience to have dinner with family and service is also good..........
Anesh Ramia
We went to this place after it was recommended to us by one of our acquaintance. This place is apparently well known and has been there since 1974. We had lot of expectation and were really looking forward to have good North Indian food there. But the place disappointed us. Food was not tasty and the price seemed to be on the higher side. When we came out of restaurant, we saw that there is one more Tandoor right next door. We thought that may be we went to the wrong place but it turns out that both the Tandoor has same kitchen and the place indeed is not worth all the hype
Junaid Sulaiman
We family where there on last Sunday for Dinner . This is one of the oldest restaurant in Cochin . We ordered Nan , chicken khadai and Ginger chicken , waiter never said us that the portion will be large quantity it was more than enough we have to parcel one dish back home and it's over priced . Chicken curry pieces almost like kheema

We all know Butter Chicken is a "Nothing to Go Wrong" recipe but the one I had from this restaurant was the worst that I ever had and way over priced. The used to serve good food but totally disappointing these days.
Vikas Deo
Bad food quality, we thought it is punjabi restaurant but................ they<br/>have limited menu items. Everything is half cooked or extra spicy with red chilli <br/><br/>we have order<br/><br/>1- half toondori chicken cost 290--- giving only half star /*<br/>2- chicken briyani cost 160 --- only * 1 star used lot of chili<br/>3-stuffed paratha cost 70 ---- no star can be given this kind of food.....<br/>4-paneer matter sabji cost 250---only 1 star & also we assuming that they using same gravy in all veg menu<br/>5-butter roti cost 70----- 10 🌟 only this item we liked<br/><br/>Total bill 900 with Tax <br/><br/><br/>ONE MORE THING THEY DON'T HAVE SWIPING MACHINE we paid cash they told due to network it is not available

still one of the best,i went to tandoor recently without much expectations but the experience was really one of the best in terms of quality and taste of food served. The tandoori items, naan, fried rice & chicken kadai all tasted really good .

Life asked me to stay away from being a foodie for thoes days back in vellore....<br/>And here I am at kochi, with a minor exploration with Akul Nair and Silpa<br/><br/>Most people choose a new restaurant looking at its name and the interiors... And I'm among that most, most of the time 😂<br/><br/>Tandoor, a tempting name... People think "Dark rooms" adds up good ambience. If you are such a kind... Then it has good ambience, for me it was a dark place with glass windows that'll fill your eyes with massive sunlight at noon... Lol<br/><br/>Now food... Chicken Biriyani... It's an Andhra cuisine restaurant..... Good level in case of being spicy...And it was worth having. But it didn't give me a feel of pure Andhra or Hyderabadi Biriyani (I bet you'll agree with me)<br/>It can be a place to visit very occasionally, if you don't have much choice. Kayees served me better....The main thing, Tandoor was peaceful.<br/>The quality and quantity they serve, with the price tag they put forth... doesnt give much justice, according to me.<br/><br/>At the bottom line, if you want a peaceful place with your friends (number less than 5) it's a great place for chatting and some spicy food.... If you look for economy, oh dear..This is not the place for you.
Rohith Iyyattil
Ordered Tandoori Chicken for dinner, the chicken was old, the masala was still a paste. The chicken pieces were undercooked at some places. The salad provided seemed to be old. Overall the experience wasn't very good that I would go to bed contended...
George Santhosh
Great food. Love to come here every now and then. In love with their butter chicken. Bit on the expensive side though. But the food's worth it.
Food Lady
Extremely disappointing, unlike the old standard of tandoor.<br/>Undercooked chicken in butter chicken that is topped with I don't know for what, grated cheese. So in edible that we left the dish alone. Mutton pepper fry which had sauteed onions was so sour. Rs.320 for a plate of mutton fry not even the size of my phone. I don't understand for what!!! Not to mention the white boiled rice. Clearly microwaved and brought. Only saving grace was a dal curry and rumali roti. To get over all of this, ordered for lime juice. First sip and I drank a mouth load of sugar syrup. Felt like I'm drinking sugar. No lime either.<br/>Worst Rs.1370 ever spent. Just extremely disappointing. Still feeling pukish from the "butter chicken".<br/>Management, if you are reading this you really need to do something about your kitchen. Not at all worth it.
Shankar Meenakshi
Great explosion to taste buds is guaranteed on having food from this place.....apart from the authentic flavours of North India that is well served, the American crispy chopsuey is a personal favourite . # great ambience #great hospitality #all in all good family dine out experience available
Mrs. Noel
Reached around 7 pm for a early dinner after shopping. Ordered mushroom and chicken soup, must say, the soup was comforting. The mutton curry was rich with right amount of spiciness to tickle the tastebuds. Been here after a long time, yet there was no downside to either their service or food.

Earlier stardard & quality has been gone.. nothing great,......,....,.............,.............................................................

Leave it to Lakshmi Aunty to make sure this place is still the same as it was from before..<br/><br/>The Food is still as great as it used to be. Definite must.

Their butter chicken was soo nice.. My friend ordered the half portion. I was wondering what that was all about until I saw the portion size. The half portion was too big for the both of us.<br/><br/>The bread they gave with it was a bit off.. I could taste the dough literally.. They delivered the food really quickly.
Karthik Raja
Authentic South Indian chicken pepper fry...a must dry dish..the restaurant has been maintaining it's quality for several years. One of the first restaurants to serve north Indian food in Kochi.. the American chopseuy is also a must try
Ajith MS
The tandoori chicken was really good, in fact we ordered it again. But other dishes and nan were not good. The restaurant is not crowded, staff are friendly, there is enough parking space and will get your food within a reasonable time. I will recommend this hotel only for tandoori items (which is very good).
Nazia Nazir
I recall dining in from this outlet maybe 10 years back while I was pursuing my engineering degree at cochin .That time I had this punjabi thali and man I must say it was mesmerising. <br/>With those tingling taste buds we had sisters day out today for lunch since we were around that street ,I suggested this place .Butter chicken which is one dish known for its signature taste ended up being a disaster. Our tummy n taste buds were super numb wen we had the first bite .Butter Naan was buttery ,felt a homely feeling while eating it since our mom makes Naan back home .Veg pulao was good with a bit of sweet taste due to sautéed raisins ..with fried potatoes peas and carrots along with soft paneer with aroma of spices .We tried a different dishes under Chinese chicken salt and pepper which was outstanding :)<br/>Presentation :4/5<br/>Ambiance :3/5<br/>Hygiene :4/5<br/>Service :3.5 /5<br/>Food :3/5<br/><br/>

Excellent service and just to die for food. The perfect family set up. Alot of options to choose from. Once you've been there, the tastes just entice you and keep you craving until you're back again. Keeping true to their name, tandoori is a must have. They do not disappoint.

Went with family. My uncle has been a visitor here for many years. Loved the ambience. Just cozy and the food is amazing. Perfectly soft roti and yummy kulchas. The paneer dishes were amazing. Just tandoori. Would visit again

The best tandoor...soo delicious<br/>I visit there often. The ambience at tandoor attracts me a lot<br/>The 'paneer butter masala' and 'butter naan' the best combi.<br/>Aloo fry is also good<br/>Tandoor chicken is perfectly cooked.<br/>Not much expensive, quantity is good, staff is customer friendly 👍
Deepthi Sreenath
Been going here for years. Good service and yummy food. Although this time around they served soggy pappad for masala pappad which was disappointing.
Deepa Antony
Super friendly staff and sumptuous and tasty lunch is what this place gave me, and boy, was it everything I asked for! Everything from the butter chicken to the Shahid chicken, which has a hint of sweetness in it, to the roti was tasty. I washed it down with some lemon soda which worked perfectly. All in all I'd recommend this place to anyone.
Meera Nair
I guess this is one of the oldest restaurants in Kochi. I've noticed that they have remained consistent with the quality and quantity. <br/>Been here with friends yesterday and had butter nan, chicken fried rice, chicken chimapuri, a mixed raitha, watermelon juice and lime juice. The food was tasty, as always, though the watermelon juice didn't taste good. Service is really warm! I felt the pricing is lil too high. <br/>Ambience and decor is also decent.
Shafiq Basheer
I have lot of memories of this restaurant been a patron for many years 27 years to be precise used to be the best in town & sorry to say it's the worst now.please avoid cos the food is substandard. The management should do something about it.please avoid this place till they bring back to its old glory.

Quite surprising that I've missed out this place, been coming to this place for more than 15 years . And always it's butter Nan and boneless Kadai Chicken, Tangri Kebab, Tandoori chicken. It's a sense of nostalgia and the taste of kadai chicken (that has not changed for so many years) which is very good that makes me go to this place. Good work.

Tandoor. The name is known to every foodie in Koch!<br/>As the name suggest a really great place to get some tandoori food in the heart of kochi. The butter chicken here tastes just fabulous. Paneer butter masala, rotti items are another delight. The ambience really gives a positive vibe to that foodie in you. Filled with portraits on all walls that makes you want to stare at them till your food arrives, speaking of which the food was never late and never dissapointed with the service. Every employee have that warm smile that makes your food taste even better.

Amazing food! I have been going to Tandoor for at least 15-20 years now and the kadai chicken still tastes the same. The consistency with which they have managed to maintain the food quality is commendable. A big kadai chicken and butter naan fan. Also if you get a chance to go to the chillies restaurant on the first floor, please do order the famous Andhra meals and mutton pepper fry there!

The service of the management of the restaurant.. Is bad.. As thought no one.. To take the responsibility.. When I went there.. There was no one to clean the table, though I requested the waiter to clear the table twice..! The only good thing was the ambience.. With the 90s soft music Which kept me cool. I opted for veg Food which was okaish but was a little expensive. A decent enough place to go with family.

The food here is good and the price is a bit high .but the ambience is really good. Best for family dine. People over here are really nice ...

A comfortable spot along with your family. We tried out the butter chicken, aloo parathas and mutton biryani.<br/>The butter chicken was yumm and a must try, great flavour and creamy texture. The aloo paratha was good, but it could have been rolled out thinner. Mutton biryani didn't reach up to the expectation, it was heaped with spices and got lost in spice flavour overload, the mutton seemed dry.<br/>Overall a nice experience, would go back to try the rest and definitely the butter chicken again .

Rude people who attends the calls. At least be nice to the customers who dine with you every weekend<br/>Food is good. Must try chicken tikka masala.

Love the biriyani varieties out here.. Especially mutton biriyani.....<br/>Easy to access..<br/>Lil expensive..<br/>But overall..a good try..<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>

This is one of the best places in Cochin to have Tandoori food. Their kadai chicken and butter naan is famous for melting in the mouth. The place has a lot of history. It's been a couple of years or more since I last went there. Added to my visit list.

I haven't tasted any non veg items here. But few vegetarian items. All North Indian dishes taste really gud here. All kind of rotis are really yummy. Also good seating that provides privacy to each table. After all, even if u r too late for ur dinner, Tandoor stays open 4 u even if all others are closed.

A place which stays open really late. Serves decent butter chicken and naan. It's on the expensive side. For lunch you get good Andhra meals.

September 2018 review:<br/>Digestion issues mean an overall 2 star rating but taste is a 4 star rating.<br/><br/>February 2017 review:<br/><br/>Their chicken kasoori is unbelievably good. 5 stars for it!!!!!<br/><br/>September 2016 review:<br/><br/>Their biriyani is really really good.<br/><br/>Previous review:<br/><br/>I haven't eaten from here in ages because their home delivery didn't function correctly after a change in staff back in the day.<br/><br/>I recently had their mutton biriyani and it was quite nice for a biriyani.

I love this place. We usually order the butter naan. Kadai chicken/ dal tadka and tandoori chicken. Kadai chicken is quite pricey. So I prefer having dal. The tandoori chicken is well done and tastes amazing. Lassi also is good but only if you're lucky.

Good food but bit on expensive side. Need to improve the ambience, especially lights. In spite of continuously calling Had to wait a bit for the person to come and take orders

One of the oldest restaurants in city, started way back in 1974... walls adorned by pictures of bollywood stars... parking was not an issue...<br/><br/>Went there with family and ordered chicken tikka, battura and half tandoori... <br/>Tandoori was okay type... tandoori tasted better in sait de dhaba in banarjee road...<br/>Battura and chicken tikka was awsome... it has the north indian flavour to it... service was quick and the waiter was quite informative and went in detail to explain about the food..<br/>Expected a lot from the place but disappointed a bit, battura and tikka saved the day<br/>Ambience 4/5<br/>Taste 3.5/5<br/>Service 5/5<br/>

This place will not fail you. Ever. One of the oldest restaurants in the city. Its probably because of the consistency in taste and service that the place has managed to stay afloat so long. It is a bit towards the costlier side according to cochin standards. They have 3 restaurants in the same building. Ambience of the 2 restaurants below is bollywoodish and elegant at the same time. The restaurant above is typical of any Andhra restaurant like the Anjappars. Onto the food, kadhai chicken is their speciality and a must try. A good combination would be kadhai chicken n appam/butternan. The chilly chicken is good too. Tandoori chicken, chicken pepper fry and butter chicken are also a must try. The vegetarians must try their crispy veg fry, paneer kadhai and veg balti. Caramel pudding is overpriced for the quantity they serve, but sometimes certain things just become a habit and so I end up ordering it whenever we go. A 3 course meal for two would cost about 1000rs. Kid friendly, group friendly and a great place to go with family.

Oldest north Indian restaurant in Kochi with slight South indian flavours. Would go with all time favourite karahi chicken. Caution actually served in utensil used for cooking so piping hot.

Ambience: Good , U can hear Bollywood songs playing on background ( Mix of both old and new bollywood movie songs). There are also pictures of 1970's Bollywood film actors on the walls.<br/>Price : Decent pricing<br/>Service: Since we went there on Sunday noon it was kind of peak time for them so we had to wait for a long time for a server to come and take our order apart from their service was decent ...<br/>Taste : We ordered masala papad ,rumali rotti, pepper chicken and butter chicken . The papad was crispy and it had a spicy topping of onion and tomato, it was a good starter to start with. Then we moved on to the pepper chicken fry it tasted different from all other pepper chicken that I have had before, it had a good rich spicy masala mix all over and it tasted yummy so if u like spicy food it's a must try item there... Then we moved on to butter chicken and rotti .... the butter chicken had a rich creamy gravy and the rotti was really soft ,it was delicious<br/>So if you want to take your family out for a lunch or dinner I would recommend this place.<br/><br/>

We were regulars at this joint, but hadn't been here for a while. So we overlooked another prominent place in Cochin for this place for takeaway. The waiter was prompt and his suggestions weren't too bad either. We ordered butter nan, rotis, kadai chicken, butter chicken and chicken Tikka fry. The tikka fry was surprisingly good although it had no association to tikka. Good for beer snacks or appetizers. The Kadai, though on a slightly sweeter side, was pretty tasty as well. The rest were average. Definitely will be back to explore more.

Despite being one of the oldest restaurants to serve North indian cuisine, the quality of food & service is in a continuous decline from last couple of years. A lot to be revived in terms of Service particularly.<br/>Not a preferred choice anymore.

Their Butter Chicken is the best I've had in kochi... Maybe slightly expensive. Moreover the ambience is good, whether u go with friends or family, u'll like the place, car parking is little difficult at times

Love the food here. Its just the prefect balance between the price , quantity and quality. Love the fact they play old Hindi songs in there . Only -ve is its kinda dark inside.

Checked in with lot of expectations seeing the reviews and has to say they have not disappointed:had chicken biryani 'paneer kadai and garlic kulcha . Paneer was superb and rotis too. Biryani was ok good to eat but not upto expectation. Would suggest to try rotis and their veg/non veg curries its awesome specially their kadai items

Have been to this place so many times the last 15+ years so much so that it has become a family tradition and we order the kadai dishes everytime we visit. Kadai paneer and butter naan are highly recommended! The kulfi and grasshopper ice cream are also worth trying.

Tandoor used to be a big favorite for me when it comes to North Indian restaurants back in the day. And the reasons for the same were always aplently. Great quantities, reasonable prices, and delicious dishes. For the most part, this restaurant has remained quite the same, although the quality of their food seems to have gone down considerably of late. It's possible that the management & staff have lost interest in keeping up their standards considering just how long this restaurant has been operating.<br/><br/>Still the best place to throw a big lunch/dinner for a group without burning a hole in your wallet, I think if you go with one of their signature dishes like the Kadai Chicken.<br/><br/>Ambience of this old restaurant is lovely, with paintings of yesteryear hindi actors adorning the walls, complimented by music from their era. And those gold color drinking glasses which later became standard across most upscale restaurants. Perhaps one of the first restaurants in Cochin to introduce finger bowls too, service at Tandoor has always been pleasant, although it becomes a little difficult to catch a hold of someone from the staff during peak hours.<br/><br/>Would definitely not mind revisiting this place, if nothing else, for all the memories of a time gone by. :)

I have been to tandoor many times but never had a chance to try their chicken biriyani but this time we made a point to try one must say it was really nice in terms of taste, but it could be more nice if they avoid thier rice from being little bit sticky

How the mighty have fallen. Once upon a time a fine dining experience. Now the food is average but ambience and service is still good. Butter and Kadai chicken are best recommended. Not bad, but nothing great.
