Review Cafe Cuba - Kochi (Cochin)

Part of Eat Kochi, just give them the fish that you buy and they make the most tastiest dishes out of it. The only irritant is the flies otherwise it is quite clean, tidy and airy. Must visit place for those who love fish.

Great place, great location, great setting, great food. I enjoyed it a lot. I'm new to the city. I'm had calamari post 4 years. Last I had was from NYC. I had porotta along with. Both were good. They had a wide menu. I wished I could try grilled fish too but couldn't. Next time. Was little pricey but the interior and upscale feel you get nullifies it. Crowd and ambience is another plus. I forgot to say. Totally friendly staff. Happy Kochi is so racism free city. Let me tell, I shared my table with Europeans where they asked me permission to share the space.

Cafe Cuba is one of the restraunt in outdoor food court near the Fort Kochi Tourist Police Station. Pros of this cafe is, they have a good outdoor seating and a pretty good reasonable price in Fort Kochi. But the cons are the lack of good chefs. So please try to order so basic snacks and juices. Meals and dinner may spoil your mood. And the long waiting services even for a tea ay spoil the mood. But highly recommend for budget backpacking.

The place is closed to Kochi Fort (walkable distance) parking facility available for 2 wheeler and 4 wheeler. Open capes which will give you a very natural vibe. We order 3 dishes out of which the Kerala Gravy and rice and Coconut Cake is worth of trying . Staff was very humble. Price is very budget friendly especially for sea foods. Over all very good experience.

Wow wow wow.. Gooorgeous food and masala chai!! I'm a solo female traveller and asked could I have a smaller meal with rice.. He made me the most delicious Kadhi Paneer and rice as a smaller portion for just the price of the Paneer.. The best Kadhi Paneer I've tasted. I felt welcomed and safe with these friendly staff who made me feel at ease. I love a good chai... This was a very good chai!! 10 out of 10

Cafe Cuba is one of the shacks lining the beach in Fort Kochi. We ordered Karimeen Polichadhu, King Prawns fry and egg friend rice. The fish and prawns were good but the fried rice was a bit sweet. Slightly over priced for the quantity and quality of the food that they provide. As it's on the streets, its a bit hot and there are a lot of mosquitoes.
Food-4/5
Service-4/5
Ambience-3/5

I went here for lunch on 25 Nov 2017. There were many restaurants on the street. We decided to try this place. The food was very disappointing. Be the seafood or the chow mein. Very bad food. You'd rather stay hungry than eat food here.

If your thing is like paying Rs 120 for 3 slices of ordinary packet bread 🍞 and one cube of cheese thrust between them in the name of Cheese Sandwich, don't lose a single moment heading here. They even include the baked brown portions of the bread. Isn't tat wonderful 😠

This joint in exorbitantly priced, under delivering place. Food is way below average. Only thing going for it is the location. Avoid if possible.

Time : 10pm (the only place in Fort Kochi that's open at this time)
Food : THE BEST Karimeen Polichathu (a Kerala specialty) EVERRRR
Service : Depends on the food. Prawn dishes take a bit of time. Our karimeen was served in 20mins. The servers were damn sweet.
Cons : No card accepted.
Ambience : Perfect shack scenario

Happen to visit here by chance along with my wife. We had pares fry,Tawa fried fish, matinee polichathu and fried rice. All items were good. My favorites were prawns fry and fried fish. Little expensive..prawns fry was charged Rs.500 which had hardly 6-7 prawns. Even though a road side eatery prices were similar to 3 star rates. They also do not accept credit cards. Ensure you have enough cash if you are visiting here

Very bad experience. Had been to couple of café in Kochi, but this was the worst of all. Bad taste of coffee, sandwiches were also bad - with no spreading except cabbage. The price is also very high - overall, I won't recommend this to anyone. Whatever rating I'm giving, that's due to its location.

Don't walk past this hidden gem! The service is always with a smile and the food is the absolute best value for money in Kochi. With reasonably priced dishes and delicious & flavourful food we had to go back every day. Our favourites were: Veg curry, shahi paneer, aloo masala. Enjoy!!

You buy fresh & they cook it for you is the concept. Buy fresh fish from beach side vendors (they will assist you), cleaned , marinated and cooked at cafe cuba. A simple good concept well served. Go there for the vibe of eating out in open space, fresh food readily prepared. The marination isnt for long and cooking process is fast so expect a bit different taste from typical kerala taste.

Here I present you the place where I had worst dinning experience in whole Kerala. Actually they asked me to buy Karimeen from local venders near Chinese fishing net (fresh catch) and they'll cook it for me in Kerala style. But it was other way around.

First of all fish was not scaled properly. It should be cleaned properly.
Second their Kerala style cooking, it doesn't have any of Kerala spices. They added little turmeric, red chilly powder and salt, and that too not evenly applied through all of the fish.
Third, the way they cooked it, burned from middle and uncooked from sides.
