Review Pai Dosa - Kochi (Cochin)

Habel John Sabu
Go there at least one time 😉 Order Bharathan SI which is the main catcher. I went with friends and ordered 3 items where only Bharathan was Top tier. They have a live kitchen where you could watch the way they make food or just sit aside and talk with your friends. - Parking space available - Near Roadside - Good Hospitality - Clean environment Suggest me any other dishes which flavoured your taste buds otherwise I'm not intending to go there again. 😶😶😶

Great experience of dosa. I had a dosa item named, Bharathan SI...wow..!!! it was too yummy...a must try item.

Have heard a lot about this place, so thought of trying it! & I absolutely loved itt! Here is the picture of what we had, barathan SI (their best selling) and it was something very different, tastier & yummy! It’s big enough for two people. It’s not a big, richh place, but definitely worth trying! ♥️

We will get lots of Verity dosa here I tried podi dosa, podi kada dosa, SI barathan , plain dosa , ghee dosa , cheese masala SI barathan was the best (220 rs) cheese masala and ghee dosa was average , i didn't like podi dosa and podi kada Parking is also a problem here If u r looking for Verity of dosa and u are not bothered abt money u can choose dis place . If u want normal good dosa don't come here

Variety Dosas, tasty, crowded, parking is less, good view of dosa making.
Jairam R Prabhu
Very crowded compared to MG Road outlet. Decent place to have a lot of variety Dosas. A bit pricy compared to other restaurants. Their egg masala and cashew masala is the must try.
Sreeraj S
Differt variety of options in dosa for both veg and non- vegetarian. All dosa served with 2 chutney, sambar and pickle. There is over 100+ varieties of dosa available. You may not like the taste of every dosa so don't go for the variety, you can choose as per your taste. We ordered Ambi Dosa Batathan SI Dosa Thattil kootiya Dosa Overall the experience was good.
Nisanth Premchand
I've had most of the Dosa varieties that they serve and found that my favourite is the Salt and Pepper dosa. The service is fast, the place is clean and now there's ample parking space in front.

Good place for tea and coffe with Dosa vada... Specila dosasa

Whenever I am craving Dosa, then this is my go to place. I am a regular customer, and I love it. You can find so many varieties of Dosas here.
Sooraj Nambiar
A place to taste variety of veg and non veg dosas. You can expect the place medium crowded in the evening and weekends. Reaching here will be bit tricky, if you are coming from Varappuzha side.
sooraj prabhu
So many varieties of Dosa... Their chutney is awesome... Options for eggeaterians as well...

Too good taste and hygenic packing

The place is located near the main road & ambience is nothing great. I ordered Cheese masala dosa & it tasted really bland also the dosa was soggy even when I had requested it to be crispy. Chutney & sambar were bland as well. To top it off they charged me 200₹ for the dosa stating that 110₹ for cheese! There was hardly any cheese in the dosa! This place was not value for money and there are many other eateries around this area which are value for money & provide better food. The staff was rude and said just write what you want in the review. Avoid this place

On a one day trip to Kochi and was looking for a good heavy dinner, someone suggested to try spl dosas. Now dosa at dinner when u r expecting a heavy stuff, how can one convince urself to have one. Anyways I thought worth a try and to my surprise one the best decisions I took. In Edapally, there is a Pai Brother Lane where Pai Dosa Restaurant is there. Variety of dosas with extraordinary delicious flavours and quantitiwise one dosa is enough for 2 people. Yet to explore all flavours. Will definitely try out more and would request all to try out, definitely there will be no disappointment.

Pai Dosa Edapally is another branch of the original one on mg road , very easy to find as in highway to Thrissur ,has ample seating . Egg dosa and masala dosa was kinda ok nothing to rave about and nothing to complain , one thing very irritating was the mosquitoes which were forcing us to leave the place quickly as we went their around evening.

Pai dosa, This place is open till 1 AM and the area where its located is 👌🏻The service is very quick and there is a lot to choose from. They customise your order if you ask for it. they have around 140+ varieties of dosas.

Just go and try salt and pepper ( dosa mixed with masalas and onions and so many things plus 8 kada eggs are weathered on top of it.) 😋

Travelled almost 45kms just to have dosas from Pai’s.it was totally worth travelling this long for it..Haven’t ever tried this much variety and good dosas.tried almost 8 varieties and every dosas are best.try it guys..ambience is not that great..Shuld inprove their cleanliness too.
Jose Sebastian
They have a huge varieties of dosas . Vegans who is stuck with dosa will definitely out this place .Open till mid night. Place isn’t hygiene enough .
I was expecting egg in the dosa but didn't find any taste of egg

I heard a lot about pai dosa...so after so many months,i got a chance to try it...they have wide varietys of dosa’s over there....i tried their egg dosa ,Salt and pepper dosa,Chocolate dosa ,Normal masala dosa and kesar
I must say..each and every dosa tastes tooo gooooooddd........ over all normal dosas also best...everyone should try ones

I was in Kochi for a layover and went to Pai Dosa as it was highly recommended. I had heard it served 60 kinds of dosa, but thats an under-statement. They do multiple permutations of those and serve around 300 types of dosas. But i truly feel that the simplest ones are the best. I loved the salt and pepper dosa and the quail egg dosa. They do serve a dosa that has everything and is like a multi storeyed house but you wont really taste the ingredients. But yeah, your decisions are yours. So choose smartly. And yes they have the dessert nutella dosa to finish with as well if you like ending things on a happy note.
Malavika
The lasoon egg dosa is delicious! I went back again just for it, in the same week. The food is quickly brought out and delectable. The staff are welcoming and the variety of options are overwhelming!

Rating - 4/5
Ambience - General
Value for money 3.5/5

This restaurant rose to fame from the movie Salt n Pepper , and they live upto their name ,the service here is self service but the restaurant owner was very kind and did explain about the varieties as well as the history of the restaurant , they have numerous varieties of Dosas here and I chose Five in one Dosa and I thought I could finish it all by myself , Oh boy I was so wrong!!

Pai dosa is a good place here in Kochi to have a variety of dosas under one roof. We had ordered 5 dosas - kaada egg, salt & pepper, dundu, 4 in one and kanchipuram egg for dinner and their service was very quick. The salt and pepper was my favorite cuz it was spicy and really tasty. The rest were good but the egg that is put on the dosas aren’t fully cooked and I didnt really like that about the dosas because I like cooked food. We also ordered omlettes which were also half cooked(one side only). Dundu dosa had a little bit of all the flavors of dosa they had at the place including chocolate which was kind of a negative when it comes to me cuz I wouldnt mix chocolate with masala. Overall all the dosas tasted nice, I didnt fine anything extraordinary in the taste division except for the salt and pepper dosa. The concept is nice though. The ambience of the place is average.

Look!!!! In to your plate! It’s pizza......

It’s a crepe....

It's Dosa...Yes, it's DUNDU DOSA, a unique dosa from our own Pai Brothers, who came to Kochi from Udipi, with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal dosa shops. Pai Brothers, who can change the course of a simple dosa, make dosa melt in your mouth and make one lick clean your bare hands.

And who, when disguised as a Kada Bullseye Dosa, is a mild-mannered dosa for a great metropolitan city like Kochi, fights a never ending battle for taste, variety and the South Indian way. And now another exciting episode in the adventures of Pai Brothers Dosa.

Starring today are the Dundu dosa and the Kada Bullseye dosa, along with a strong cup of tea and an equally strong aromatic coffee.

For the uninitiated, the dundu dosa is technically an all-in-one with each bite giving you a different flavour, with chocolate, eggs, sweet, salt, cheesy, hot....in short you name it, you bite into it...😋

This is from the Edapally outlet of Pai Dosa, my first time at this outlet.

Didnt find anything special. Overated. Poor ambience. The food didnt taste great. Dont go with a hungry stomach you will be disappointed as me.
Manuel Tony
Sometimes when it comes to food, it's not looks but heart, and my oh my, does pai dosa have heart. Definitely the best dosa joint in Kochi with the most varieties of dosas. Always have been and will be an all time fav❤️
Osm hotel.. superb food.. & well care about customers.. 👌👍
very well team work behind the hotel & Hard working staffs and management....
Sooraj M Chandran
I was first time here. Heard lot about this place. Just for checking out, we ordered five variety dosa. Mine was called thambi dosa. It tasted very yummy. It was filled with lot of green chilly, smaash potato, tomato..and bull's eye egg on it. Coconut chatenny and sabaar vs a great combination.
But from 5 variety dosa, pepper dosa was most demanded and liked. So I would recommend that one .

Huge variety of dosas! I have been to their M G Road branch before! I would suggest them to improve on their drinks! Perfect place for a light meal! Blesson
Dev
The ultimate name in dosas in Kochi. Amazing range of dosas but some of them are just above average. Quick service and decent servings. Worth your money. Worth a visit with your buddies, family or just a solo evening dosa craving...
A word of caution- they prepare veg and non veg dosas on the same pan. So if you are a strict vegetarians, kindly avoid the place.
Naina Khanna
had so many varieties of dosas.. we were in a group! chocolate doas was something new to try!! well cooked and tasty! other veg dosas were also very good. when in kochi, do go there. prices are also not high
Aswin Shaji
Good ambience, good food. One of the different food joints of Kochi. Dosas are excellent and chutney is fresh. It's a different fusion of Kada eggs & Duck eggs with Dosa. Try this spot once.
Sabir Saif
Its place for Dosa lovers. There are dosas that you will love eating nd there are others which wont be at best tastes for you. Have good dine.

Pai dosa is one of my frequent destinations whenever I visit Kochi with my friends.I have tried many of their variety dosas.Personal favourites are Kanchipuram Lasoon Masala and Salt and Pepper(with egg). Recently I have tried the Dundu dosa and it was yummy but too big for me to complete.Cleanliness and service is good. You will also get good tea to accompany your dosa.To sum up,it is a good place to try variety dosas and you won't be disappointed for sure with the experience.
Nithin Krishnan
Perfect place to have varieties of dosa. Had omlet butter dosa which was nice with a cup of tea.
Overall if you are tired of having nonveg heavy food, you should go n try it.
Benson Thomas
One of the most decent places in town to have dosas from. Must have:- Dundu dosa, Lasoon egg dosa. And I don't know for some people chocolate on dosa may seem a bit too daring(like pineapple on pizzas). But it's still worth a try. Good ambience and fast service.
Dr.Narendra Patil
Multiple varieties of dosa you will get. We tried egg dosa and chocolate cashew dosa.......it was awesome. Not too costly. They have take away but it will be better if you can have it there....
Kartik Es
Perfect place for the mid night dosa. Neat and clean, well spread place , with ample dosa varieties ( you bet ! :)) don't think I have ever tasted such simple and at the same time a satiating dosa at 1:15 am. The varieties are so much that it can take a while. Do take a deep breath and listen to your tummy ;) , choose one and let the egg smacked crispy dosa with tangy pickle and the chutney, take you to food heaven. Decently priced , a sure visit.

After reading the rave reviews on Zomato, finally visited this place. To cut everything short - this is a place you can go to only if you want to have variety dosas. The dosas are good. We had Salt and Pepper Dosa with Kaada Mutta, and Ghee Roast.

Salt and Pepper dosa was quite good and heavy, without being spicy. Ghee Roast was just good but normal, nothing extraordinary. However, the accompaniments were not up to the mark. The sambar and chutneys were thin and watery. But the worst part, I found a hair in one of the chutneys, but I found it only after I'd almost finished my dosa. The tea is really good. Special mention for the quaint tea cups and saucer.

The ambience is basic and nothing much to talk about. It's just a place to eat and go.
Martyn Joshy
I went there with my friend at late night. The restaurant had a good crowd(not crowded). The restaurant was clean. The food was decent and the prices were reasonable and normal.

Whenever I get back home for the weekend I do hv a wish list of stuff to eat and I get it done most of it at home but there are those fav places of mine where I go in kochi over and over again just for the food. Pai Dosa is quite near to my place and this time it took me by surprise to see all posh eating area with interiors done to reasonable good standards. But some things would hv been great had it been the same old way and I miss the old ways of the restaurant where in we take the tokens first and wait there next to the open live kitchen waiting for our dosa being made alongside seeing the way they made all the other orders as well. It was super fun if u fancy it. Anyways it's not there anymore. I hv tried almost all types of dosa in the menu and lately I eat only Salt and Pepper dosa for that is the best. It took me a long time to discover this from the 36 other varieties. I must confess all the other dosas are good but Salt and Pepper is awesome. Surprises-Quail eggs-gooey gooey runny yolks-heavy meal. That is my preface to this awesome dosa.
Stephen Mathew
The first thing to know is that other than egg, this is a pure vegetarian place. Having said that, their dosas are rather tasty - the Salt n Pepper one being the best I've tried. The dosas are a bit oily. The service is good and the ambience is average.
Sooraj Varghese
Been here and their MG road outlet many times. They are an old famous Dosa joint in Kochi. This time, they have completely changed interiors and fitted comfortable sofa kind of seating which really feels good. Also, they have started serving, earlier it was serif service which is also welcome move.
Regarding food it was so tasty as always, I felt better than MG road outlet. We have taken Kada bullseye masala, Kanchipuram roast and podi duck egg, all were delicious...
Vineeth
a frequent customer of pai dosa.. I have tasted majority of the varieties . The economic one is "Thattil kutti dosa" 2 people can have this along with 2 cups of tea will cost around 100rupees only... other variety dosas are also tasty.
Vishnu Kumar
Didnt find anything to be great over here , just felt like some over priced varieties of Dosa, But wnt say it be Bad.. we went there for Bday treat so got to try most of the varieties , The ambience also wasnt upto mark when we wnt but heard that they are renovating..
Levis John Thomas
Very very bad service and specially today they kept us waiting for half an hour and then they come saying dosa is over and to order something else... No use renewating a place until and unless the food and service has quality....
Darshan Manomohanan
Another branch of pai dosa at kochi beside lulumall.average in taste and looks.good for all the dosa lovers.a gud try for first timers.very nice service
Naseef Mohammed
Dosa taste isn't any difference from what you get from normal Thattukada moreover all items are too pricey. Thattil kutti dosa is same as normal Thottu dosa from what you get from any food shop in Vyttila Jn.
Ardra Premkumar
Their menu boasts of serving more than 100 varieties of dosa, but most of the time many of them are not available. Their 'salt and pepper' dosa is something that makes me go back to there.
Sajin Sahadevan
Had a great experience at Pai Dosa..tried chocolate dosa and ghee Masala dosa..it's awesome..felt ghee Masala dosa overpriced..will be back to try duck and Kara specials :)
Ronnie George
This is not as good as their outlet in mg Road. Recently visited this place. They still follow their self service pattern. The way they make these dosas is a treat to the eyes. They have a huge variety of dosas. My favourite is the five in one.
Rijaz Kursal
Puttu(Dhe Puttu) or Dosa(Pai Dosa) was what we were trying to choose and ended up with Pai Dosa as its a fast food and we were short of time ! The menu is clearly overpriced with most of the dosa's prices above 100 bucks ..Anyway decided to try their 3 different Dosas.. The 'lasoon onion masala' was kind of normal masala dosa but with added garlic(lasoon) flavour in d masala.. The 'salt n pepper' tasted good with all those kada eggs and pepper powder.. The 'chocolate cashew' tasted more like a dessert than a meal and probably u wont b able to finish it if your stomach is half filled , bcoz of all that sweetness..Their chutneys were all average.. The place isn't maintained well and u wont be liking d wash area if u r a hygienic person.. So , the taste of food though not the best , is d only thing in its favour !
Jacob Abraham
Pai Dosa has grown to be the mark of Good Dosa's and variety in town. The edapally outlet lacks the buzz of the MG road one, but dosas served there are excellent. Honestly, watching the chefs prepare these Dosas are quite a scene. Must say, Pai Dosa Dosas taste good !! Mm. Finger licking good. Really. Love the podi masala dosas especially.
Nabeel Akram
Another must try place in edapally. As per the name it self they are offering 36 varieties of dosas. Its a good place if u are true dosa lover. The varieties like podi dosa, egg dosa and so on. The restaurant located good part of edapally, actually far from hectic edapally traffic rush. They have descent price menu for dosa. Affordable prices for dosa.
Deepa Antony
If you are really, really hungry and just a simple dosa won't do head straight to Pai dosa with a wide variety of dosas. The good part is that they are open late into the night. The bad part is that it's a little heavy on the pocket; but I wouldn't mind splurging a little once in a while.
Jackson Jolly
Went to this place half an hour ago.I asked the guy in the counter what is the best dosa you have. He said salt and pepper dosa.I straight away went for it along with a lime juice. The dosa consisted of masala, onions finely chopped,8 kada egg bulsai. It was YUM.But the dosa was pretty small and got over pretty soon. This place is not at all clean.A big thumps down for that.Staff is friendly though.
Harshan
There are over 50 varieties of dosa here my picks being salt and pepper, butter, egg dosa and bheeman roast.these guys were pioneers in bringing variety to our dosa and was once a fav but sadly now not so much.the prices have steadily gone up and its now too much to ask for any dosa especially since its self servicing.also rest of the dosas are just average.dont get confused with this much varieties also, they are just mix and match.snacks like curd vada and sambar vada are good with the vadas being large and scrumptuous.the film salt and pepper made it a hit and ironically you should try this place once just for salt and pepper dosa only.just dont forget to order the katti chammanthi with your dosa...
Vinay Menon
Not as great as the original Pai Brothers in the city. But still better than most restaurants in the area. Try the basic masala dosa, if you don't like that, then you don't like Pai dosa.
AKSHAY C. Ramakrishnan
For Dosa lovers who would love to experiment different varieties of the same
A Better Service would be appreciated
They should open more counters for self service or have waiting services instead
It's more of a konkani culinary & u may have a hard time choosing what to order.
Not all of them r good. U may only knw by trial & error .
Ambience is very avg
And they do not hav many beverage offerings
Shilna Mathew
They do have some cool variety dosas that attracts you.Since this place is open till midnight, this is my usual hangout place for my midnight cravings. The dosas aren't masterpieces ,but it's quite different, though the accompaniments aren't that great.Anyways try their variety of egg dosas. Its fun
Sourav Dan
this is THE dosa place..names i havent ever heard of before they exist..varieties of about 100 odd dosa types..dosa lovers this is the place.name any and you'll get it here..had this cheese dosa roast for the first time.was an average one which i felt but many may like if one knows the right choice and combo..so better try atleast once to know that..
Vighnesh K
The dosa varieties are long than the new people will think of. Pretty good service and good to average taste from the start to regular customer.
Nizwa ツ
Yeap 5 on 5 for me! Whats not to love? The ambiance? Good. The people? Great. The dosas? Amazing. Never left this place without a full stomach! the all in one types.... kanchipuram.. rajeswary are all delicious!
Someday... some day i hope I'd be able to try each dosa on that board!
Krishna Hari
Expected a much more good ambience.. but not
Itz overpriced n the dosaa dsnt seem so special.. for the price.. the vegetables in the dosa ws raw
Heena Hussain
Egg dosa was tasty but I tried another one kanjipuram special and the filling was too much for the dosa to handle and the carrots cabbage onions etc were raw, I was very surprised to see the price of the dosas it is definitely overpriced and no good ambience neither looks very hygienic
Ashishgupta211
Second visit in last few days. Had salt & pepper dosa and it was plain awesome. A must try even if you don't like dosas otherwise. And open till 2 in the morning, so best place to have a bite after watching a late night movie at lulu.
Dhilish Joji
For all dosa lovers out there..hit this place asap. They have a number of veg dosas and just one of'em can fill your tummy easy. #self service
Vivek Kartha
The place is overhyped. Went there after hearing about their different varieties of dishes. The dosas here are average, the sambar and chutney along with it is below average. Wouldn't recommend this place.
Vysakh Sukumaran
Went there once to try out the dosas but I didn't like it at all. I tried the Five in One dosa. It didn't taste like a dosa at all. The dosa batter was mixed with egg. Had a weird taste. It was one of the most expensive dishes on the menu and it was bad so I doubt the cheaper dishes will be any better. I'm never going there again.
Rassal Shaji
pathetic service and ambience,on top of that the cooking oil they use is of poor quality and the cooking bay looks quite unhygienic. And it's quite pricey. The Pai Dosa outlet in Mg road is way better.
Anoop Nilaparambil
Had been here couple of times with family. Their Dosas are simply the best. But not as good as Pai Dosa, MG Rd. My personal favourite is their Egg Masala Dosa... Space is little crowded inside. You need to wait during peak hours. Overall it's a good place for Dosa lovers.
