Have been visiting the nearby Hotel to Ratna Vilas almost once in a month. Never had thought of having food from this hotel.
Yesterday, went to the nearby restaurant, was full, then went to its parent restaurant in the NH 66, fully packed, thought of going to BTH and ultimately coming back to the restaurant close to Ratna hotel & it was full.
Thought why not have food from this hotel. Ordered for food and with out delay was served. It's was so excellent, so excellent so ordered for chat, it was supper excellent. Not one hotel or restaurants in kochi serves this good chat. Coffee is par excellent.
While paying the bill, saw jalabi, only 3 left, hesitant first since no bakery nore any restaurants or hotels serve good jalabi. Tried one out of the 3 while driving back home... Supper excellent... My my my my my, it was tasty and was a treat for us.
Though small in size, not to be compared to big hotels or restaurants in kochi, won't stand a chance to find a place near any veg restaurants or hotels,... this hotel.. HOTEL RATNA VILAS, had found a permanent place in our hearts. Size and pomp doesn't matter, its food served that matters.
Thanks to the hotel's management in serving tasty and good food to the customers who visit the same. We will be frequenting with friends and relatives.
The best thing I like about this place is the atmosphere and it’s location, gives you this old Kochi vibe. But they should improve on their staff side. Food is okay for the reasonable rates they charge.

A fairly comfortable, very reasonable, if not as glamorous alternative to Gokul’s. Rathna Vilas offers quality vegetarian food for reasonable prices.
Located just next to Gokul’s, this place reeks of old hotel charm one would find in villages. It strikes such a vibe within me, whenever I’m here, as it reminds me of my childhood and the similarly set hotels back then.
As far as food is concerned, it is quality stuff. I personally find the Puri Masala to be better than Gokul’s.
Kitchen is out of sight and hence cant predict cleanliness... The better trasparent are food joints the better would be its ratings
The food is tasty...service is good. But the hygiene is a concern. The washroom is poorly maintained and I've seen cockroaches around..

To be honest , this place actually gives a sensation of years gone by. People who are part of Ernakulam for a long time, will understand the feeling.
Look and feel is very much similar to hotels of 90s.
