Review Hotel Sona - Kochi (Cochin)

I've ordered the chicken gaithod, beef stew, bhature, and neypathal. Every thing was really good especially the beef stew it was very flavourful and with the combination of neypathal the taste was really awesome must try !! . Bhature and chicken gaithod is another great combo worth mentioning but I'm a person who likes to have gravy and the chicken gaithod was a dry type dish. Chicken gaithod 4/5 Bhature 4/5 Neypathal 4/5 Beef stew 4.5/5

This is the second time to go here. Had variety non veg meal today, all curries tasted very good. Is the Ayla Fry more expensive..🤔?? Maybe it will be. But no doubt the taste is awesome..!!!! 😋😋😋😋😋

Not everything in here is the best, but if you find out, it will amaze you. Ney pathari and beef stew Puri and pepper chicken Porotta and beef roast These three item's are unbelievable, but nay pathari with any of those combination of curry is unmatched with anyone in Kochi, it's a must try. Parking is difficult at daytime and evening upto 8 is very rush hour. Try going after 9pm

Culinary Bliss at Hotel Sona: Neypathal and Chicken Stew Delight I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hotel Sona, and I can't stop raving about their Neypathal and Chicken Stew. This culinary experience left an indelible mark on my taste buds. The star of the show, without a doubt, was their Chicken Stew. Hotel Sona's Chicken Stew is a masterpiece in itself. The tender chicken pieces were generously coated in a creamy, aromatic stew that was nothing short of perfection. The flavors were balanced, and the dish exuded a comforting warmth that made it a true comfort food. Accompanying the Chicken Stew was their Neypathal, a traditional Kerala-style flatbread. It was impeccably prepared - soft, slightly crispy, and the perfect vessel to soak up every drop of that delectable stew. The combination of the Chicken Stew and Neypathal was a symphony of flavors that left me craving for more. The ambiance at Hotel Sona was another delightful aspect of my visit. The cozy and welcoming atmosphere created the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience. The attentive and courteous staff added to the overall positive experience, ensuring that our meal was nothing short of exceptional. Hotel Sona's commitment to preserving the authenticity of Kerala cuisine truly shines through in their Neypathal and Chicken Stew. It's evident that they take pride in every dish they serve. In addition to the Chicken Stew, I also sampled a few other items from their menu, and each one exceeded my expectations. Hotel Sona is a hidden gem for those who appreciate the rich and diverse flavors of Indian cuisine. If you're in the mood for a culinary adventure that celebrates Kerala's culinary traditions, I highly recommend heading to Hotel Sona and indulging in their Neypathal and Chicken Stew. It's an experience that will leave you with a satisfied palate and a desire to return for more. Don't miss out!

Hotel Sona is located at Mg road, near Padma Junction. It's a long standing restaurant in Ernakulam City. Different types of cuisines were available there. I had tried their Neyppathal, Beef Stew. it is also a most rated item in their menu. Ney pathal was nice, yummy and i liked it very much. Beef stew was also of good quality. However it costs Rs. 160 for one portion. This is a must try combo from here. It took some confusion while serving dish, as there is only two waiters at that time. Parking facility is almost absent as it is closed to main road.

If u wanna have hot delicious food at midnight in Kochi- this is the place!!! Hot bhatura and neypathiri are the specialties in bread n Beef Stew is the star! Almost every table has a beef stew. We ordered for Bhatura , Thenga pathiri with Beef stew and Karaikudi chicken. Unfortunately Neypathiri was over by the time v arrived at around 12 MN. We had a good experience here, the supplier was too good and to cater to sudden rush even the owner came to serve the customers. Dedicated staff makes sure that customers are satisfied.. Started about 41 yrs back by 3 partners is now run by one of the owner’s son n his friend. The second generation has revamped the menu with the most famous dish - the beef stew. Ambience is ok ok and the place is ‘neat n tidy’. The place is very lively even at midnight with almost full occupancy. A must try place at reasonable rates!

Wish i could rate 10 stars! Also, Hotel Mothalali is a brazil fan. Undoubtedly one of the best and the brightest in kochi. The variety of food, decent pricing well i doubt the parking availability in the morning but at night its totally fine. Orotti + Chicken curry Chatti pathiry + beef stew Chaya at night its a big miss though. Nice people and delightful service too even if its late night.

We visited for a quick bite. I ordered porotta with chicken curry, it was delicious! We received a large portion for the curry, I loved the curry sauce, it wasn't spicy but tasty. The tea was decent and the service was efficient. The restaurant itself looks clean & spacious. It would be nice if they handed out or displayed a menu in the restaurant, but apart from that would recommend for a quick bite.👍

Visited on 1st dec 2022 Had dinner. Ordered Neipathal, ariorotti, thengapathiri and battura along with beef stew and chicken karikudi.. I must tell each of it tasted really yum ..loved it .. especially the beef stew and naipathal.. We ordered for 2 adults and one toddler. Quantity of curries is ok for 2 adults. 1 curry will lavish if it's for 1 person. Service was also very good.

I had an excellent dining experience at Hotel Sona near Padma Theatre on MG Road. The service was top-notch, and the food was incredibly tasty. They have some outstanding signature dishes, including Batoora, Beef Stew, Chicken Stew, and various other chicken and beef items, all of which I highly recommend trying. The only downside is that parking is unavailable, but it's a minor inconvenience given the quality of the food and service. If you plan to visit, going during the night might increase your chances of finding street parking, but do note that food availability may decrease during late hours. Overall, it's a must-visit for food enthusiasts.

Went in the evening (6:30 am) time, i should have wandered off as there were no other customers in the hotel. The chicken most definitely was not fresh...Biriyani was below average. Used to eat during college days a lot from this restaurant but now the standards are way low. Can find much better food with even better pricing at palarivattom/edapally side.

Nothing fancy or special about this hotel. Just okay affordable food for those days you just don't feel like cooking. It's a good place to have a quick lunch. The quantity is filling and food is of normal standard.

A plebeian's hotel. Nothing too fancy, but a good, clean, family hotel. They give you refills for the meals, and it does fill your stomach, so that's there. Plus it's good money's worth. To summarize, a good family restaurant.

Looks like an average hotel, but serves really good food. I visit this hotel mostly after film with my parents. Pretty neat place. It is also a hotel that i've been visiting for like 10 years or something. Its a good choice for people who leave after second shows

The ONE place that served us food on a hartal. As glad as we were to make do with Hotel Sona, I must say - The chicken they used did seem a lil stale and high on MSG. Must be our hunger pangs that got us to gobble down all (or rather most of what we ordered) and topped it off with a bottle of 7 up. Cheerful host of folks there did set the tone to a pleasant meal.

I used to eat from this place back in the day. The food is ok for the price. Being an open road side outlet, I'm not a fan of the ambience so I haven'd been there in years.
Narasimha Kamath
Well, been a regular weekend customer since I could remember, maybe some 10 years or more. Right next to Padma theatre, you could grab a quick bite or even go for a heavy cuisine after watching a good film. Biriyani's are the best. Fish Biriyani is the bestest for any fish lovers.

Food is fine. Service, hygiene, ambience are ok. Common thing i found in every food is the presence of more oil than other restauarants. Prices are reasonable and can visit here when to satisfy hunger and is around this place. Good place for those who work around to have a quick bite.

Good place, good food, decently priced, courteous staff. I stay near this hotel and prefer ordering food from here whenever I feel too lazy to go out

Earlier their specialty s biriyani, but now days there's lack of quality, but other foods are good but should maintain the quality according to their change of prices.

My most fav place in Kochi for Biryani... I have never tasted anything better than this. Everytime I travel to Kerela my first visit is at Hotel Sona. It looks like an average hotel but the food is amazingly delicious. Cant wait to visit it again..

Never judge a place, on its looks.  Hotel Sona is the perfect example.<br/><br/>A very average looking hotel, but have got anything and everything you ask for. The place to dine may not be great idea if you are looking for a great service, ambiance etc. <br/>The food here is absolutely amazing. <br/><br/>a few points to keep in mind<br/>- Ask for the menu - " the person serving there will just recite the dishes what he knows"<br/>- Order one at time, service is pretty fast " you don't have to order everything at one go.<br/>- dont forget to drink a juice or shake. They are really nice.<br/><br/>Chilly prawns, Fish fry,Fish Masala, Egg Rost, Chilli Gopi, Kerala Parotta,  Egg  Fried rice are some of my favorites here.<br/><br/>The best thing you can do: Call, Place your order and pick it home

A reaffirmation of the fact that amazing food in Kochi is found in the most unexpected, unassuming places. This is a pretty average looking restaurant right next to Padma theatre. But their mutton pepper masala and tandoori chicken was by far one of the best in Kochi. And pretty crowded too even at 9 pm with plenty of families queuing outside for their parcels - means that this restaurant IS quite a local favourite.

Average no nonsense place on busy mg road. <br/>The food here is fast and decent. This isn't a fancy place, but a practical place. <br/>When you are around Padma area and you want a quick no nonsense lunch, this is an option.<br/><br/>And oh! They don't have an ac section.
Jithu Ajayan Thaivalath
A decent , no nonsense restaurant located near padma. Crowded most of the times. A good place to have lunch. Decent quality meals and biriyani, and quality is consistent most of the times. And the rates are also reasonable. Dont expect a great ambience, its just an other restaurant.<br/><br/>Verdict: An ideal place to have a meal without burning your pocket.
The Food Guy
Located bang on Padma junction, Hotel Sona is a great place for a quick lunch. There are many such restaurants in Cochin who offer a variety of cuisine ranging from Chinese to North Indian to Kerala food. Sona clearly makes its name for the distinct taste it maintains in different cuisine.<br/><br/>I have on almost all my visits stuck to Kerala and north Indian food here. Kadai chicken, chicken roast, butter chicken, egg roast, etc are all really good dishes to have with Chapathi or Porota. During lunch hours meals is also a good option along with fish fry. Their fish gravy is quite tasty. I have lime juice whenever I come here. Their chilled lime juice pairs up well with any meal.<br/><br/>A place with no frills and believes in providing good food at a reasonable price, Sona is definitely a place to try out. The food won't disappoint you!!
