Review Trivandrum Chicken Corner - Kochi (Cochin)

This place is holds a special kind place in my heart, perhaps because in my childhood I spent many evenings eating their fried chicken and chappatti😂 Their food was outstanding back in the day! The dry masala that comes with the chicken was always the highlight. That saud, the quality has deteriorated now, with the chicken being extremely dry. Nonetheless I still order take aways from this place for just old times sake.

One of a kind delicious chicken. Creative ambiance, themed like a coop. Liver was perfectly fried and mouthwatering. Citron pickle accompaniment was an excellent touch. Tiny round chapaties were suitable side for the mains chicken fry. The mildly citrus lemon juice had the right balance. The masala powder that comes along with chicken was the highlight. Best chicken. Would recommend

Absolutely brilliant. I used to go here as a kid with my grandfather. I am now 40 years old. The place and the food taste has not changed in all these years. Brings back a lot of memories. Forever a fan of trivandrum chicken corner.

A very good place for fried chicken. The menu doesn't have too much of a variety and the best things to order are the chapathi, chicken fry and liver fry. But these are finger licking good and it's totally worth going to this place to eat just that. They have renovated the place and it has a classy look now, along with the place being clean and staff being really friendly. A must check out place of you're a foodie.

Authentic food with a vintage ambiance.

Mind blowing service! That the food is awesome goes without saying ofcourse. We went late at night, relatively. My wife wanted vegetarian and they did not have any at that time. The excellent server actually went to another vegetarian restaurant nearby and bought a plate of veg curry for her. Will go back there every opportunity I get just for this kind of personalised service!!

Expensive for the quantity of food that was provided. Not worth it. Size of the chapati was too small and the chicken pieces were really tiny.

This used to be my Dad's staple whenever he visited Kochi on his business purchase trips.Thats why I order food from here now that I am living in Kochi. But they just keep disappointing me every single time.Last night's dinner is the last meal I will ever have from this place....The chicken was rotten inside that it stinked like hell! I threw away the whole thing..Such a terrible experience..I am done!

Only positive was the delivery time. Everything else was downhill from there. The Mini Chappathi was so dry that it was hard as toast and crumpled on trying get a bit to munch. The chicken fry was dripping oil... Of the three pieces, 1 was just a piece of bone...

I ordered one full ghee rice and one half ghee rice. But both are of same quantity which was embarrassing. The chicken pieces were not at all good. Only 5 pieces for me and father, but both of our jaws are paining due to its hardness. Will never try this again. It cost around 360rs and got this is totally unjustified.

To summarise in the shortest possible way, i must say it was 'Atrocious'..Ghee rice was boiled rice sauted in oil, chapati was not cooked properly, gravy was pure masala water, trivandrum chicken fry was no where to match up to the standards of the worst chicken fry you would get from any hotel in Trivandrum..Only saving grace was the onion salad, with the price of onion in market currently being around Rs 100 per Kg, it was surprising that sufficient quantity of finely chooped onions were given...Final verdict Not recommended..Just fleecing the customer in the name of Trivandrum chicken fry..

In love with this place ! Most fav food spot ❤️ Their fried chicken and chappathi 😍😍
Shanu Welcome

Awesome naadan chicken fry.....good for foodies who loves naadan type of chicken fry. We can smell pure coconut oil when we open the door itself...keep it up

Quite a decent meal with kerala style fried spl chicken and accompanied with chicken gravy. Had a mini chapati meal. Hits the spot. Nothing unique about it but satisfying nonetheless.

The food was well below expectations and the service was also not friendly. Even though we were there by 7, ghee rice was over and the chappati which they served was not what we expect to get in a hotel

Chicken chicken chicken. Nice place for chicken dishes for a reasonable price.
Ordered mini chicken set includes 3 chicken pieces and 5 chappathi. They served a chicken curry, salad and lemon along with that which was quite nice. They have only limited items in the menu. But worth the stuffs.
Gave an ambience of chicken shop.
Glad to find out this place.
Food : 5/5
Money : 5/5
Service : 3/5
Ambience : 4/5
On time : 5/5

It's always been my favourite place to have their chicken deep fried with their own brand of seasoning I was not disappointed but I did visit some of their other outlets I would sepcifically talk about the Kottayam one it's lousy no where near the Cochin outlet in term of taste.
Harisankar P S
Most authentic trivandrum chicken fry I have had in Kochi.
The only draw back is the lack of parotta and trivandrum style beef fry.

Facilities are bit old, but can vouch for the taste.
Shyam Mohan
Too bad experience...jst normal chickn fry and chappathi..total ambience of the restaurent and behaviour of the staffs are not worthy.......
Goureesankar Sathyanath
Not that good. Serves only chicken and chappati. Chicken is very dry and hard to swallow. Has good reputation but the food sucks tbh. Wouldn't advice a visit

I've eaten here in the 90s and very recently, ordered home delivery last week. The fundamental taste of their fried chicken hasn't changed in the interim 20 years. This is one of the restaurants where things don't change much, be it the taste or the ambience. Please visit if you want to taste the unique flavor of chicken fried in coconut oil.
Food'o'holic
Certainly not worth the price you pay...chicken tastes bland...chappathi is okay..no special mentions..I don't understand the logic behind the just gravy..overall not a gr8 experience...

Amazing food and interesting interiors ! The warm hearted welcome and the ever tasting chicken fry just tastes the same as it was 15 years back ! Took me down the memory lane for sure ! ☺️
Fadil
I ordered a full chicken, thers no enough quantity at all...10 pieces were like 4 of them were ok and rest of it was so small, overalll a bad experience!not worthy at all
Loved the thin chaappatis, which were really nice. The Trivandrum fried chicken is something I had for the first time. It wasn't too spicy and the coconutty taste made it all the appatizing.
The Food Guy
Used to be a really nice place for Chapathy & Chicken Fry! Utterly disappointed today with my lunch. Chicken was probably old or how they prepared was pretty bad. The taste was quite bad. Chapathy was as thin as it could get - it was almost transparent. Ghee rice was below average. Even lime juice had a weird taste.

Overall, nothing tasted good. 350 bucks for the 2 of us for nothing good. No wonder this place was deserted. I believe this is going to be my last visit to this place in a long while.

PS - Hotel Rahmaniya is any day better!
Donny
I was glad to find out that a restaurant similar to the legendary Rahmania of Trivandrum was available in Ernakulam. I was a dedicated customer of the Rahmania hotel while I was in tvm n boy it was amazing.
The menu is very simple with just chapati, chicken, biriyani. I went for a 4 piece chicken + 4 chapati set. The chicken fry was tasty n fresh n with lots of "podi" !
The chapatis r light n small n 4 pieces r ideal for a meal. The chicken pieces also, being small r ideal for one person. And they do serve one flash of lime juice, which is not that good. And that too compared to the unlimited lime juice of Rahmania, this is nothing.
Pros:
1. Tasty chicken fry
2. Not so costly
Cons:
1. Average to nil ambience
COLONELS AMBROSIA
As a kid I remember going there. Paper thin rotis, crunchy chicken fry with their signature crispy marinade powder and lemonade.

Nice to know it withstood the test of the times. There was a branch in Kottayam too. Wonder if its still there

What can I say about TCC... I've been going to this restaurant since the first time I came to kochi. The standard dish is the chapathi and chicken fry along with a generous helping of the fried chicken crumbs(podi). I always ask for extra, maybe that's just me. You have to experience it to know the taste. Over the years I have moved to take away but the taste is still good. For me it's a comfort food, makes me feel good and is always something I look forward to.

Found this place on a crazy munchies needing night if you know what I mean ;)
That aside .. short menu .. great food .. good chicken .. good all together.
Very simple and a quick eating place! It's worth the try :D

If there is a word we can mean 'Horrible' for a food then that food is available here.. Yesterday i visited to this place with much expectations.i ordered 4 pieces chicken & chappati Rs.220 OMG!!! wen i got my order bone pieces that too who cut chiken pieces are brilliant..it was too the limit of small 4 piece chicken into.4 dry chapati too.no matter is spending but when we spend d outcome should be worth .The amount which i spend there would have spend in some other hotel in Cochin maybe worth. I will never ever visit the place & not recommend any1 there too. If there was an option for rating zero or less surely i would have choose that. The place i visited is near to high court.

So very hidden and oractically forgotten place. Used to be famous in the past. The friend chicken with Chappati are their speciality. Insanely well cooked chicken with a special masala makes this place worth trying.

I went to this place in the evening today. One guy asked me to sit inside the a/c room.I followed him and the next thing i notice is he turning on the wall mounted fan's.Seriouly dude this is your a/c.Anyway I straight away ordered one half set of chicken. It includes three chicken pieces and four chappathy.I didn't know that the lime juice was complimentary.First impression itself was really bad.The lime juice was terrible. The water tasted really bad.As a matter of fact, after my first sip I decided that I am no more touching it.After a few minutes comes the chicken and chappathy. The chappathy was good.I have no complaints about it at all.But the Chicken Oh God it didn't have masala or salt at all.It was fried that it. A thought came onto my mind which is nothing but i could have bought 1 kg of chicken for the price I paid to have three pieces of disaster.Horrible place. Not at all recommended.

Deliciously fried chicken served with hand made chapathi and lemonade. I doubt if you can have such perfectly seasoned & fried chicken anywhere else in the city. Their chapathis are not always good, I've had to ask them to replace the dish once when the chapathi was too brittle. They also serve this chicken gravy which is good although a little watery and some fried powdery thing (the marinade of the chicken I guess) which is really yum. An affordable menu. Nothing fancy though in terms of ambiance or food or service. Just a place where you can have good food.

Amazing combo of Fried chicken with thin chappathi and lime juice! Win win !
The most tastiest thing with fried chicken is the crumbs with it.
I prefer take away.
Chicken is really good, fried to perfect and a great meal!
Regular visitor. Chapati or ghee rice with chicken fry along with lime juice. Thats what they have here.

you get Small chicken pieces with some crumbs on it (Don't know what to call it, but that is the most tastiest thing here). Very tasty food.

Ambience is not great and the price is little bit on the higher side. Still I always come back for the taste of porch kozhi here.

Great Taste, Value for food and unbeatable recipe. Please order as Take Away or delivery. If you want to eat it at the place, then enter there A/C Section only.

This place has no fancy interiors or comfy cushions, the shop may have a slight smell of phenol. But the food they serve is awesome. The chicken fry smells good, tastes good, and the chapathi, feels like home. :D and they serve chopped onions and pickle with it. :DSimple old fashioned restaurant, not recommended if you're a clean freak.
Azlam Salam
Went to the one near Highcourt to relish an old taste. This one is new and relatively clean. We went in around 5.30 pm and it was empty. The chicken was awesome, the ghee rice was perfect,,chapathis could be a tad better

Good food and good service......
No good ambience. Not very clean. Not even a good place to chill. But the chicken fry they serve here is the best in town. I rate this place only keeping in mind the taste of fried chicken. The real Kerala style fried chicken

And for those who are very much particular about the surroundings and the overall look of the restaurant, they've opened one near the high court junction. WHICH LOOKS GOOD..!!

Banerji Rd, Marine Drive, Ernakulam, Kerala 682031.
Ph.No. 0484 239 3601

Have been to this place onces and tat was the first and last time. Its a small place, not at all clean and so great vibes about this place. I kept aside everything for food.and ordered parotta and chicken fry(which was served with sme salad and the crispy fried leftover crumbs).I felt the oil smell and taste was too prominent in the food. Which my taste buds were not happy about. Chicken too didn't feel so fresh as I had to chew it for soooo long .
Not so great food

A tiny menu with just 4-5 items and one signature dish - Poricha Kozhiyum Chappatiyum. A plate of chicken marinated in Kerala spices and deep fried in fresh coconut oil - served sprinkled with its own fried bits of masala and curry leaves - and an aroma that is almost heady! A simple dish rich in flavour provided u have it fresh and hot. If the chicken has been cooked a while ago it loses its taste and the oil tastes weird. Wash it down w a glass of lime juice and you wont need another meal for quite a while.

This is a small place tucked in the upstairs of a building.
The menu is limited. Kerala styled fried chicken with chapathi accompanied by lime juice.

The place may not be a stunner, but the food is tasty and reasonably priced.

The food is a little on the spicy side...but you get sweet lemon juice to tone it down.
