Review Chariot Beach Restaurant - Kochi (Cochin)

CHARIOT BEACH RESTAURANT A eatery right in the corner of tower road and princess street, a multi-cuisine open restaurant, a pretty laid back place where you can enjoy every perspective of Princess street ( main streets of fort kochi). The food was good, chiefly the chicken fried rice and the fish. The American chopsuey had boiled noodles instead of fried noodles, which was okay, but not upto the mark. Reasonable prices 2 x fried rice, 1 x chopsuey, 1 x fish just came upto to Rs 850.

This place has a very decent ambiance. You can spot Dutch architecture at this area. We ordered Tea and Lemon drink which had a good taste.

A nice place to chill out with some beer and great sea food. The spread of sea food is fantabulous. Definitely try crab with Bamboo shoots. Used to frequently go to this restaurant bin 2001- 2003. The staff is very friendly. Location with the old buildings and smell of the sea is very soothing.

We stopped here for lunch during our current stay in Kochi. Warm welcome and lovely food. Don't be tempted to go for the easy option of omelettes, etc - try the local dishes and Chinese. All very tasty and excellent value. We had beef with vegetables, prawns with chilli, rice and chapatis plus a couple of cold drinks and a bottle of water and it cost the equivalent of £5! Nice people and highly recommended. Great corned location close to the centre of Fort Kochi.

A calm and quiet open restaurant near to the Fort Kochi beech Ground. Best tries are the soups. I usually go there on nights as it's hot during summer

It is a very good restaurant. The lunch buffet is descent and cost effective. The paintings on the wall and ambience is good.

Had lunch here with my cousins on a visit to Fort Kochi. Food and service was nice, and it was a pleasant experience having food in an outdoor restaurant 😊

Great location with great food. Lovely ambience. Restaurant by the beach.

Nice restaurant with Indian and continental dishes.

The food was really bad and the service was also bad. Ordered noodles and it had excess of pepper and when we sent it back and told them to cancel order they forced us to order some other dish even though we told them we didn't want to. Overall wouldn't recommend anyone to go there.

Poor overpriced Food, Lots of Mosquitoes. Our group ordered about half a dozen dishes all of which were poorly cooked and tasted stale. Avoid it all costs. It is a tourist trap- plain and simple, right next to the beach. Unwitting tourists will walk right in here and get fleeced. Go for Tibetan Chefs which is about a 10 minute walk near Kathakali Centre.

Location looked pretty to me. Road side, dim lights n all.
We weren't able to sit and eat due to mosquitoes.
Quantity was quite poor and taste was not satisfactory.
Comparing to the price neither the quantity or quality matched.

I believe its time to improve their quality of food and make a proper use of such a central location.

A waste of amazing location!
Bang in the middle of Fort Kochi tourist attractions the restaurant is a let down in terms of taste, quality and service. We ordered Fish chilly which was almost like manchurian with gravy with loads of MSG. The beef chilly was too thin which we sent back. It was a tad better after it cooked some more. The juices were fine. The prices are mediocre but not worth the quality of food served.

This establishment has listed home delivery. I tried to order some food at 9pm and they started making excuses like the delivery boys don't know where 50 feet road is and where Thamaraparamu school is. Absolutely abysmal service. If you are reading this (I wouldnt be surprised if you weren't because apparently you can't even google where thamaraparambu school is) PLEASE REMOVE YOUR HOME DELIVERY OPTION. Shameful service.

This restaurant has been my all time favourites ever since i was a kid. Nothing fancy about this place. Can hardly seat 20-25 people. but the food served here is just yummm.. Love the prawn fried rice here. Do try the sea food varieties especially the fish fry.

Service can be a lot quicker. They took half an hour to serve the fish fry. Also the place is in an open area so please expect lot of mosquitoes at night..

But Foodwise no compliants. Do try..

The weather. The only thing I didn't like about Kochi. Can't complain though, the sites and foods it has to offer more than makes up for the Turkish sauna weather. I went there with 2 friends. We had fried rice and chicken noodles. Both were good. And just that. Nothing to write home about. The ambience is good as it is an open air restaurant located right at the junction of Burgar street and the lovely Princess street.

Lovely place to relax and sip coffee, especially in the evenings when they light candles on each table. Food is decent enough - we had some fried calamari and a cup of coffee here. More than the food, its the ambience of the place that is delightful. Nice place to relax in the fort kochi area.

The noodles and vegetable fried rice with gobhi manchurian were damn tasty...... There was a tym when we used to order it every week or two weeks..... but now the quality has gone down..... but still the location of the place is perfect..... u can find a lot of foreign tourists here mostly..... so this rating of mine is for those times....

The Chariot is one of the popular eatiries in the Fort Kochi area. Service is efficient and friendly. They offer a variety of cuisines but the seafood local cuisine is recommended.Go there in the evenings when you can enjoy the fairytale lights of Cochin and the harbour area and savour the cool Arabian Sea breeze.

Beach restaurant which is no way near to a beach that's what chariot is. Used to enjoy their cutlet as a kid. They have earned some rave reviews for their Chinese food items. Chicken Fried rice is one of my favorite item.

I would be biased if I give them a five or that close as this place is run by my very dear friend Abel (his dad actually but the rightful heir apparent) and he lives right behind it. I used to enjoy the sizzlers out here 20 years ago but nothing beats the chariots Chinese especially their chopsuey which has remained a cult favourite since time immemorial. American chopsuey by the way and not Chinese ... And as earlier reviewed the chilly chicken and 65 are crowd favourites as well. The ambience is great as it is situated right in the middle of town where princess street meets tower road and tourists flock unawares helped by a CCTV camera strategically placed right opposite to the restaurant to help the cops monitor who is lost and who isn't, that is only if they monitor which one wouldn't know. Well let's not digress and leave space for imagination. Enjoy the food here mates !!

The Chariot is one of the popular eatiries in the Fort area. There is no Beach but the restaurant is situated on the shores of the channel which leads upto the Cochin Port. The place has a quaint atmosphere and is quite spacious and clean. Service is effecient and friendly. They offer a variety of cusines but the seafood local cusine is recommended as is the chili beef. The prawns and fish are fresh and generally quite spicy and stick to this area. The Chinese and continental are at best fair and unless you are the unadventurous type best avoided. The chicken 65 is ever popular and a favorite.Go there in the evenings when you can enjoy the fairytale lights of Cochin and the harbour area and savour the cool Arabian Sea breeze.
