Review Nahoum And Sons Confectionary - Kolkata (Calcutta)

Paulomi B
Nestled amidst the hustle and bustle of New Market, Nahoum and Sons is an absolute go-to if you happen to visit Kolkata. It’s a historic establishment known for its confectionery and baked items. Don’t sleep on the lemon tart; it is legitimately the most beautifully tangy, lemony dessert I’ve had in ages. Another big shout-out goes to the plum cakes that it’s already well-known for—they’re decadent and beautifully rich. Do visit this place if you’re a big dessert aficionado! 10/10

childhoom memories at this place. Egg chops are the best, and black forest. had these here after 15 years and still taste the same. highly recommend this place. other savoury stuff are also really good. such an old place.

One of the oldest family run bakeries in kolkota. It is situated in the S.S Hoggs market. There is limited items but seeing the amount of people moving in n out it seems quite popular .we bought sweet buns which we felt were overpriced for Rs 25 each also they were dry . The chocolate éclairs filling was too sweet. But we loved the Almond rings .

Huge demand, especially during the pre-Christmas time. Really delicious cakes, no doubt, but hye wait is killing. The environment inside the shop is in the 1902 time.

While the store is immensely nostalgic and iconic, the place has become quite unreasonable with its pricing because of the fame it already has. 4 is a bit higher than what I want to give it and 3 is a tad bit lower. So succumbing to the memories of this store, I give it a bittersweet 4. The plum cake, the special fruit cake, the butter cake, the black forest pastry are all very nice (and loaded). The prices are exorbitant but it is okay once in a while if you cannot make it yourself. The not so nice things are the savouries present. Seriously, DO NOT try the savoury bakes. They are just extremely bad and feel cheap. Tip: They have an almond cookie (they are small roundish blobs of crispy chewy goodness). Try it. It is very different and quite nice.

The special Christmas cakes were good & soft. They also have a wide range of sweet & savoury stuff, all fresh & tasty. Tried the cup cake, it was really nice & different, had a nice soft inner texture & had a jam filling as well.

Call me crazy but I actually went out there and ordered all possible cakes so that I could taste all of them and come up with my favourites. They are all priced at 40 rs and it's totally worth it.This is really old confectionery and a really good one. I really love the strawberry pastry, almond tart, lemon tart( incase you like tangy), lemon souffle, baklawa & rich fruit cake( absolutely delish) Do give it a try.

Finally was able to make a visit to this historic place. There seems to be a queue always irrespective of when you visit and wait time is anywhere between 10 mins - 1 hr depending on rush. Personal favorites are almond cookies, fruit cake and garlic bread. The pastries were a bit dry and not upto expectations.

I love bakeries, so when I read about Nahoum’s in the New Market area in Kolkata, I knew I had to visit. I’m so glad I did! It is inside the market, but every single seller I asked knew where it was, so I was able to get there easily. It is very popular, with lots of customers being served quickly. The selection is vast and everything looked delicious! Since it is a Jewish bakery, I didn’t know what goods to expect. I asked if there were bagels, and the owner said no as if he has answered the question many times before. 😊 We bought two cream-filled croissants, two chocolate pastries, and some almond cookies and all were all delicious! Lots of other things were very tempting, so it was hard to choose. In addition to having tasty baked goods, this was a fascinating cultural experience. Highly recommended!

Nahoum and Sons is one of the classic and vintage confectionery outlet in Kolkata. In my opinion they serve the best confectionery items in Kolkata. The quality and taste is good. When you will the shop you will get the old vintage vibe and with modern delicacies. Must try: Chocolate pastry, Macrons, Brownie and Chicken patties.
Palash Hazra
Cakes are having standard taste. Cakes are machine made and prepared by local people but not by Nahoum’s family nor by Jewish ingredients. So the taste is similar to the cakes sold by mio amore. So the prices are little high as I bought fruit rich cake and plum cake for 700rs.
DEBLINA MITRA
The best cake shop in Kolkata. One of the oldest cake shop. We have tried Rich Fruit cake , Heart Cake, Chocolate Pastry, Browney and from the confectionery the Chicken parties. Each and every item was soo good.. Just nothing to say ❤️❤️

Kolkata's Pride- Post Number 3

A must try for all Kolkata people.

Best place for Christmas Cake.
We order every year.

Review-
Must order - Brownies. Very tasty and you will know what actual brownies taste like. Worth the money.
The rich fruit cake is my personal favorite. It has a wonderful appetizing smell. Very tasty.
You can also try plum cake if you don't want to have fruit cake.
It will not be a disappointment.
The small treats aren't as tasty as the cakes.
Go for the cakes I mentioned if you feel spoilt for choices. ❤

For more food update us on @twohungrywomen_ in Instagram.

Since my childhood, there's no change in decor and atmosphere which I love most it has nostalgia, and their Cake pastry n puffs are excellent and the price is pocket friendly...
I love Nahum's Cheese puff, Cheese Patties, Chocolate eclairs, Chocolate and Strawberry cubes, Almond puffs..
It's true some time their quality drops from the level of perfection but we all wish that they will improve in the long run.
Inner World Of A Super Foodie
It has been 2 years that I don't visit this place anymore since I don't reside in Kolkata... I went to this place as I'm a foodie and once I made a list of all the famous gems of Kolkata and went out with my best friend at 8am on a food walk and ended up here for obvious reasons and it was on the last week of December... The Plum cake is very famous over here and with Nahoum's plum cake my Christmas is always incomplete...
Ambience:4/5
Service:4/5
Pocket Pinch:4/5

In this present pandemic time, decided to go offbeat by trying their lemon muffin, some stuffed jam cookies, cheese puff and sweet buns as a takeaway. Lemon muffins were tasty enough and I would rank the other three a decent so-so. As a whole my gastronomical experience isn't bad of Nahoum's.
Sukanya Neogi
This iconic bakery serving freshly baked bread, cake and other confectionery items is my favourite.. We go there for Christmas.. I love love love their brownies..

So this is an Bakery shop, which is renowned for their baked things.

And specially, the cakes here are awesome. But for sugar patients, it is not suitable as it contains lot of sugar.

Recommended 💯

Nahoum's is a more-than-a-century old Jewish Bakery that is the hotspot of Kolkata during the pre-Christmas season. For many families, it has been a tradition to celebrate Christmas with the cakes baked from Nahoums.

==============

|| PRO ||
1. The fruit cakes taste delicious.
2. The items are fresh.
3. Stocks are refilled quickly when demand increases.
4. The staff is friendly and cooperative.

==============

|| CON ||
1. The queue is more-than-an-hour long in the Christmas season.
2. Pastries are mostly average here.
3. Locating the store in the Hogg market is itself a difficult task.

==============

About the Food,
The fruit cake we had was fresh, tasty and fluffy. The taste of the cake was similar to fruit cakes made with fruits that were kept in wine for days. We also had few pastries, but honestly, the pastries were average.

have been loving nahoums products since I was a kid. My grandfather was a regular customer so my mom also grew up eating nahoum products and same goes for me. specially their butter biscuits, freshly baked breads and their lemon tarts. Just way too good. Whenever I visit New market its just impossible that I won't visit Nahoum once. And I know even my future generation will get to taste their breads as well.
Sudeshna Banerjee
Nahoum's doesn't need an introduction, almost each and every people coming/living in kolkata is familiar with this bakery. We can't even imagine Christmas without Nahoum's cake.
.
My favorite :
Palm cake
Price: Rs- 280
Taste: 5/5

It is an age old bakery outlet in New Market area. This place is usually always crowded and serves various types of cakes and pastries along with a few snacks items.
We bought a light plum fruit cake on the occasion of new years eve. The cake was very soft and fresh and had rich dry fruits inside it.
We also took one chicken patties and chicken puff. Both the items were good and fresh.

Nahoum is one of the oldest bakery in the city of joy. I visited here for the first time and the crowd were soo many. I have tasted a light plum cake for 280 rupees. The quality was very good I loved it

Cakes are must in Christmas & Nahoum's is the place for fresh baked Cakes. Paradise for cake lovers, Located inside New Market, different varieties of cakes available, highly recommended...
Barishtha Sinha
Expect the place to be crowded, service to be not prompt, items to be unavailable because the place is mostly busy and fast selling. Didn't like the lemon tarts though. Coconut dessert was good.
Sahini Nag
I love the fruit cake and plum cake from this place. Every year during winter, fruit cake from this place is a must. Lemon tarts are love ❤️

Why is their number not working? I was trying to call them, and the two numbers available online both do not work. Anyone know their number?

Nahoums has been a childhood favorite of mine and my 1st visit to this shop was with my mother. I was just a little kid then & I had their chocolate pastry & fell in love with it and ever since that day it has been my number one bakery. It has the old calcutta charm in their shop.
They have those old-fashioned glass display and teekwook furniture.

Now coming to the food items I have tried from here:

Brownies
Chocolate Eclares
Heart Cakes
Pastries
Rum Cakes,
Lemon cakes
Plum cakes

My personal favorite is the Rum cake, Brownie, Chocolate Pastry and the Chocolate Eclairs. You cannot go new market and not have a pastry or buy some fresh garlic bread from nahoum. 15years of me knowing and they still make the exactly tasting goodies ❤. My favorite is the black forest pastry and garlic bread.
😎
Located amidst the bustling Hogg Market, this quaint shop has all the magic stored for you.
A few of my favorites:
*plum cake *rich fruit cake *cheese straws *garlic bread *pastries *chicken puff *choco brownie and zillion of other delicacies.. Savour the nostalgia❤️

Here's a bakery that has triumphed the test of time, standing with an old colonial heritage of over one hundred years, tucked in the bustling alleys of Hog's Market, Esplanade, Kolkata, very famously known as the New Market.
The antique Jewish Bakery bears the emblem of the past, and here's yet another essence that Calcutta has successfully preserved.
The Bakery still resembles itself from the century gone by, and they continue serving the gourmet food, quite in much excellency, to this day, to every palate.
There is no seating arrangement, and we don't even complain!
It is great in what it does, and this is a place you have to visit, when in Calcutta.

Nahoums a Jewish Bakery Shop situated in New Market Kolkata. I have truly grown up eating cakes from this spot. Nahoums isn't only a bread shop, yet one of the tourist spots of Kolkata. This spot is synonymous with baked goods. I cherish their treats and scones as well, yet one thing that is my untouched most loved is the Walnut Brownie.
I lovee there each n every thing..... I will recommend it every time
Ayan Roy
One of the oldest bakeries of Kolkata located at the heart of the city. The sweet buicuits, plum cakes, sweet Buns, pastries should not be missed. The quality with the amalgamation of experience delivers the best of the products.

Nahoum's has been a legendary bakery. I too found it's brownie to be mouth watering and worth all the hype. I have also tried other pastries and cakes there but found nothing exceptional in their taste. Don't get me wrong they are not bad but the hype really makes your expectations high.
The_food_wall✔️
I tried their Cheesecake and Mix fruit Cake. The picture shown above is of cheesecake and it has a different taste than any other cake. Although I found it a bit dry but it melted in the mouth and lasted a sweet flavor. This cost me rs 30 and it's totally worth it.

Since I heard a lot about this shop so could not resist myself buying their age-old yummy mix fruit cake. I am not very fond of mix fruit cake but this lovely thing made me crazy after having a bite. Seriously! It's that addictive. Still can't get over the taste.

Taste ⏩ Fruity, crunchy and heavenly good.❤

Got it parceled, It can stay up to 20-25 days.

Cost ⏩ 300 Rs for half kg.
Two words. Rum. Balls. Buy them. Eat them. Give them to your friends. That is, if you can find your out of the maze they call New Market. Yes it is a #heritage site and the bakery lives up to its name. The breads are delicious, the confectioneries perfect. Just gotta find the place first, and remember. Don't go during/before Christmas. The line will be horrendous, although the special cake does make up for the wait.
Sumeet Mohanty
This will always be my breakfast stop when in Kolkata. Arguably, one of the best bakeries in town. The utterly butterly delicious puffs and pastries takes you on a nostalgia ride. The Fish Patrani is a showstopper.
Rohini Datta
I used to love Nahoum's until an incident that happened today. Only a couple of days back I had purchased pastries for 210 rupees using debit card. Yet when today I was paying for an amount of 195, they refused to accept card payment, saying that they accept only payments >300 by card. What kind of a silly rule is this!
RUCHI VERMA
I specially visited this bakery since it’s the oldest Parsi bakery of British time which maintains their age old recipe. We tried their walnut brownie, eclairs and chocolate pastry. Food was reasonably priced and quality was good keeping in mind the pricing.
Only suggestion is to please install an Air conditioner so that people can enjoy their cakes and pastries in humid weather of Kolkata.
Priyanka Das
This century-old shop is still a miracle. Deep down in the crowded alleys of the Hogg Market, this place has maintained every tiny speciality of its with subtle care and deep love.

Nahoum is an iconic bakery in Kolkata and a place I've been visiting since my childhood.
Located right in the heart of Hogg market in Esplanade, every cake lover in the city is ought to be a lover of this place.
My utmost favorite from here are-
📌 Walnut brownies
📌 Black Forest cake
📌Tarts
Apart from this they have a massive collection of amazing baked goodies all year round. I would say a place where you can have a nice quality patties and cakes.
There are lots of variety of pastry from chocolate to starwberry and many others. So I had chicken patties which was really worth the price of rs.35/- loaded with chicken keema taste 4.5/5
And I had fish pantries which was also ok price rs.35/- and last chocolate pastry very yum rs.25/-
So food are very reasonable price.
Ambience-3/5(because there's no seating place)
Taste-5/5
This is not a bakery, this is a heritage.
One of the oldest bakeries in Kolkata.
Cakes are very affordable and great in taste.
Ambiance is pretty spacious.
But if you are new in Kolkata then it is little difficult to locate.
Worth experiencing.

The name is associated with my childhood nostalgia!! The pastries are good but for me the chocolate wedges are the best!! The quality of fruit cakes is also good, overall a nice place to relieve your childhood memories!
Swanyan Saren( Foodie With A Big Heart)
Visiting this place made be remind my childhood days... My father used to bring cakes from here almost every day while returning from his office..
I tried their chocolate rum pastry and jelly tart... The taste was good and it was fresh... Wide range of bakery products are available at a very reasonable prices...
If they would have done few advertisement across the city they could have been one of the best bakery in kolkata and many people can know about them...
Always heard of this age old Jewish confectionery ; made out time to drop by. The shop, it's furnitures n decor do give the feeling of the old times.
Picked the bestseller "Lemon Tart" , Almond Puff, Cheese biscuits and date biscuits.

I am not contented with the taste of Lemon Tart, the cream used is sour and not of good quality. Rather Almond puff is a better option .

Cheese biscuits are crispy cheese fried, date biscuits are stuffed with dates and spices but not worth buying.

Being a popular shop, though it made its own brand name but I won't recommended it..
Tumpa Maitra
After a very long time I visited our very own Nahoum's Cake Shop...was feeling very nostalgic..this shop reminds me of my father..he used to bring pastries for us and when I was a child my birthday cake was always ordered from here..was so fond of their cakes and pastries..but this time I was a bit disappointed..mom used to like their choux pastry Chocolate Eclairs..I brought one for mom..the filling of cream is mixed with cake crumbs which is very disappointing..Ginger nut biscuits are a little hard..Chicken patty's filling is mixed with bengal gram..but the items are fresh and pocket friendly

Nahoum & Sons have been the oldest Jewish bakery in town classily ushering our city's long heritage. It has been standing since the colonial rule and nothing has been changed since I first lay my eyes on the shop - the furniture, the display, the dubious names or the cash counter!

I have on various instance tried their fruit cake and I do not seem to like it anymore. The highly rated lemon tart seems just below par and the puffs were okay. I tried a few cream balls which I enjoyed.

Overall, it is a good visit to connect to childhood nostalgia but not for tinkering your taste buds - not anymore!

Yummy pastries 😍. When you enter the shop I'm sure U'll bcm confuse 😕❓about which one should u buy 😅.All the pastries of diff flavours cost Rs.30 n that's a great thing 😄.

I have been there for several times , tried a lots of cakes, breads and pastries but never understood why this place is so overrated.

Honestly guys,Quality has been degraded a lot.
There's nothing overwhelming. Just an ordinary bakery. Yes, It can be an old and so famous place for one time visit as an wonder of Kolkata but there's nothing special aubout it except the old trays and old recipes they keep on using and managed to have tagged so.

Personally don't like the place much. Specially after seeing them on a news channel once that they are warned about their entire system of baking and hygiene processes.

Overall, not recommended.
Still I would like to suggest you ppl to
Go by your own and check once before trusting me.
Thank you.
I have literally grown up eating cakes from this place. Nahoums is not just a bakery, but one of the landmarks of Kolkata. This place is synonymous with pastries!

I love their cookies and biscuits too, but one item that is my all time favourite is the Walnut brownie. It's perfectly chewy and flavourful. If I ever go to New Market, I will have to pick up a few brownies from here, no matter whats the purpose of the visit!! Also, their fruit cakes and plum cakes during Christmas are just so delicious!

Do give it a try guys.
Kalpesh Saha
The hustle and bustle of New Market does not deter people from crowding this old bakery situated right in the centre of the market.

This Jewish bakery is one of its kind and has been rolling out bakes and sugary treats from their age old home made recipes for the last 114 years.

The rich fruit cake and the plum cakes are to die for and are available in abundance during Christmas.

Very old shop inside Newmarket.. famous for bread & other bakery item..
Cakes are soft, good tasted..
Bread also nice..
Crowded....
But a must visit place in Kolkata..
Ekta Manchanda
I was craving for Rum balls and this was the place I went. The rum balls they serve are something to die for. They were so fresh with the perfect blend of rum in it. One rum ball is more than enough for one person and doesn't even hurt the pocket with the kind of stuff it is! Worth every penny!
Pooja Arora
Very old school bakery. Authentic food.
I had egg Chop ( found it ok ok )
Chicken cutlet
Fish ( can't remember the exact name )
Jam tart ( this was yummy )
Total I paid some 160 Rs for it.
Very economical.

Mutton samosa here is very famous , is what I have heard but unfortunately when I went it wasn't there ☹️
So who ever visits this place please do try that and let me know how if it is worth a try or no.

This place is iconic and needs zero introduction. Nahoum is a century old cake shop located inside new market in the basement. It has got beautiful Easter eggs..pastries..chocolates starting from 60 rupees
The chocolate rum balls for 25 rupees were tasty. The chocolate pastry for 40 rupees was okayish.but you ought to taste their breads and savouries like the cheese puffs which you cannot find otherwise easily. Highly recommended for a trio down your memory lane.
Vedant Parasrampuria
Legendary place near new market area. Right from fudges to cakes to macarons to savouries, it's not food , it's an emotion . Every Calcuttan who is fond of sweets or bakery stuff must have a visit .it's even better for the vibe if you have it during Christmas
Nirmallya Seth
Bengalis are obsessed with their "Mishti", desserts are integral part of their daily life and Calcuttans have a very soft corner for the 115 years old "Nahoums".

May be the daily footfalls has been reduced but you can sense their specialty when you see the queue during the Christmas time. Tonnes of fruit cakes, plum cakes, cheese cakes, freshest breads are being sold at a very affordable prices.

Since childhood I'm visiting this place, and having Rich Fruit Cake during the Christmas is must for me.
Sreya Chakrabarti
Christmas time or not, bakery items are love...and no one does it better than Nahoum's!!
A visit to the place invariably results in an assortment of yummy mouth-watering freshly baked fare...starting from cheese puffs, jam tarts, mixed fruit pies and brownies to their famous fresh warm plum cakes and mixed fruit cakes, Nahoums undoubtedly have been winning hearts for decades.
Without much ado, here's a loot from my visit to the legendary shop!!
Rohan Nath
Established in 1902. The food is average. Something which disappointed me was that the staffs were rude and slightly cranky. It's located deep inside Hogg's Market and took some time to locate.
Paulami Dey
Nahoum and sons is not only a confectionery shop, it's an emotion. Since childhood it accompanied me to lift up my mood. The baking smell captivates all the senses and provides happiness. I was, am and shall be an ardent fan of their Walnut Brownie which comes with a wrapping. It just melts in mouth. For my taste buds, this is the best thing they bake. Make sure that you reach early there. Brownie literally is sold like hot cake! I love their Rum Ball. Delicious and you will always get a hint of rum in it. Also, I like Cheese Samosa and other puffs. But as I said that the ultimate thing here is the BROWNIE- the must have; I eat and also pack some.
Anirban Mitra
After the demise of David Nahoum in 2013, quality has steadily gone downhill. His brother is just encashing the old goodwill with complete disregard to quality and customer friendliness. Their super delicious black forest pastry is now inedible. Good old vanilla heart cake now has obnoxious artificial lemon flavor. Issac Nahoum will destroy the brand within one generation for sure.
Krittika Ghosh
Located inside the new market area, is difficult to find for people who are new to this place.
This confectionery is about hundreds of years old.
Both veg and non-veg items are found here, but they specialise in cakes and pastries.
Some items are a bit overpriced.
The cost of cakes increases abruptly during Christmas season and New Year, the same cake which they charge a lower rate on other seasons.
My favourite pics from this place is their chocolate pastries which come at a very affordable price.

Legendary Jewish Bakery situated in the heart Of Hoggs Market..... A little hard to find in the maze that is Hoggs market.... But on getting closer your nose will let you know 😁 a go to place for cakes during Christmas..... We ordered the Chocolate pastry (4/5) and the Chocolate ball (3/5).... Nahoums is a Love. One of the Oldest Bakery situated in the heart of New Market. It's a Bakery and Confectionery shop. People are Mostly into Nahoums fir Plum cake and Their Famous Item Rich Fruit Cake. During Christmas It's like a Nostalgic spree that one had to have a slice of Nahoum's Rich fruit cake. The soul shop is very crowded in Christmas time. Other time of the year you can visit them anytime. Specially in the Mornings. When Warm treats comes out of their oven. I don't know how many have tasted that, but I can Guarantee No Bakery can give u Confectionery so Fresh and Tasty in that much affordable price as Nahoums provide. Try their Non-vegetarian Delights, Almond Cookies, Tarts, Pastries, Macaroons. Mamma Mia.

This legendary Jewish bakery is a must visit place whenever you are in Calcutta. They are very

famous for their pastries, puffs and breads. Two of my favorite things from there is the Chocolate

Éclair and the Lemon Sponge. These are a must try. Tried the famous Garlic Bread too this time and

it didn’t disappoint. Do try the above and also some of the puffs and patties.

One of the legendary bakery in Kolkata, this one is located inside New Market area. The place is spread over 2 shops. Finding it can be a difficult task for first timers. But once close you can smell the sweet baked goods aroma floating in the air. The shop is old and display there items on the sides. The only downside is the fact that once inside you get a bit of eggy smell. They also keep their veg and nonveg items side by side.

We tried their lemon tart which was good. The Pink Strawberry pastry was topped with butter cream and powdered sugar, was so so in taste. Some of the items here are very expensive compared to other places.

The Verdict:
Food/Taste – 5/10
Service - 5/10
Ambiance - 5/10
Value for Money – 6/10
Quantity/Quality – 5/10

Just ok!

Yes! I also heard so much about this bakery. Because of their name, fame, history peoples from all over India and foreign country are must visit at least once.I was also influenced for their name and fame. I decided to go there on my birthday and want to start my day with their pastries. My birthday falls on 23rd December and this time there was so much crowd but that's also ok for me because I eagerly want to have pastries from them. After watching all the pastries I told one of them to arrange 3pastries in one box (1 ram ball,1 strawberry pastry, chocolate pastry) and he packed my box I stand on the billing counter first .Ohh! I'm sorry I had forgotten to tell you the price of my pastries . So, 3 pastries are cost 90/- (30/- each). So, I stood on the billing counter first, but the cashier moved other direction and take huge amount orders just like whose total amount was 2000/- and more ,he take their bills and I was continuously told that man please "Amar ta bill Kore din na".. I requested twice, thrice, more & more times but he didn't listen. At last I told furiously that "Amar Rs-90/- er bill bole ki amay charchen na?" Then they told that "Amader anek purono dokan Amader erme Hy ekhane.." Just think about his words. How desperate.... Really very very disappointed.
And also disappointed of their cakes quality,it was so dry,no moisture ,tasteless and the inner whipping cream when goes into you mouth it feels like some sugar cream is mixed with fine sand grains.
I gave 1.0/5.0 because I have no options to gave -1.0.
One of the oldest Jewish bakery located at the Hogg market. Famous for its rich fruit cakes, tarts, cheese puffs and cakes, brownies, cookies, macaroons and so on..

This time we went for lemon tarts and chocolate eclairs. Lemon tart has a very interesting combination of hard crisp outer layering with soft cake filled with lemon cream. It simply leaves you drooling and is much recommended. Chocolate eclairs is another innovative delicacy which gives you the impression of an eclair. The stuffing was of crushed chocolate cake with nuts topped with chocolate sauce and two huge cookies supported it. Very reasonably priced and a must try out.

We missed the rum ball this time. But not to worry, dropping in very very soon.

Nahoum and Sons represent tradition that has been lighting the lives of the Calcuttans. We've tried several pastries, cakes, and patties from this age-old place. The items are delicious, fresh, and pocket-friendly. Moreover, the behaviour of the staff is exceptionally polite and helpful. This bakery is a must visit for all.

#starwordsindia #kolkata #foodblogging

Had heard so much about this bakery in New market. Was in a short visit to Kolkata, so decided to head here on a Sunday morning. We had to hurry as it shuts early on Sunday. Thankfully everybody around the market knew about the place, hence wasn't too difficult to find the shop. We ordered some rum balls, eclair, some date bites (don't remember the exact name), black forest pastry and swiss roll. We also took a dry fruits cake, so a lot of stuff and didn't cost much! Of all the things we ordered, the best were the date bites and the dry fruits cake, others were average at best. Couldn't understand why was there so much of commotion around one of the oldest bakeries in Kolkata.
