Review Raj Spanish Cafe - Kolkata (Calcutta)

Sanchayan Chatterjee
Small cafe in Sudder Street but serves excellent coffee and food in terms of quality. Price is very reasonable. It’s my favourite place to visit whenever I am in Lindsay Street. Must visit for a warm experience. FYI, try to avoid Saturday and Sunday as it can get very crowded and you will have to wait & share a table with others.

In the midst of remains of hustling and bustling business lanes of New Market, lies this hidden gem of a restaurant which tries to bring Europe on the plate. To start with if coming by metro this is closer to the Dharmatala metro station rather than Park Street. So we had ordered 01 Bruschetta 02 Huevos Rellenos 03 Huevos Rotos 04 lced Mocha 05 Lasagna De Pollo 06 lced Cafe Latte 07 Tiramisu 08 Affogato 09 Pollo E Funghi Pizza ADDON: • Garlic • Oregano 10 Mountain Dew 11 Iced Tea 12 Gambas Al Ajillo 13 Croquetas De Pollo 14 Fresh Lime Soda 15 Pisto Manchego And here are the Pros and Cons: 1. Food is very similar to the European standard, they have not tried to Indianize the cuisine. 2. The vibe is pretty good. The crowd is also very happening! 3. Affogato was the best coffee I have ever had in Kolkata, moreover getting an Affogato in Kolkata was a dream come true. 4. Croquetas De Pollo was also very tasty! 5. The Tiramisu was one of the best Tiramisu I ever had! 6. The menu is pretty long and diverse. They serve Spanish, Mexican and Italian cuisine. 7. Huevos Rellenos is a must recommendation. The tuna filling was just delicious! Improvements: 1. I suggest the bruschetta can be improved in taste, it missed the garlic and the basil flavour! 2. They should try to open a branch in a better location !

Visited on a weekend after a long time and was stunned by the sheer quality and variety of authentic Spanish and italian food items. We had quite some different varieties of food including Chicken pizza, Lasagna, Albondigas en salsa. The tiramisu cake and the souffle di ciccolato are to die for. Excellent staff behaviour too. Only downside is that the cafe somewhat feels a little cramped and is located a bit far off from the main street. Will visit again soon :-)

The place has a really nice vibe and is very aesthetically pleasing, the walls are covered with messages and quotes from customers. The outdoor seating is beautiful and there's music playing on the speakers. The menu has Mexican, Spanish and Italian dishes. The pizza is just amazing . Really gonna visit this place again 😁.

I'm writing this review after my 2nd visit.. I simply loved the food of this place in my 1st visit, so I was literally waiting to visit again to try out their other delicacies. The owner and the staff are just lovely people. 1st visit order: Spicy Chicken Pizza, Freslime soda, Soufle Di Cioccolato The pizza was just mind-blowing, I love the simplicity and authenticity of this dish with their tomato sauce, chicken, and mozzarella.. next, the dessert is just delightful.. The hot chocolate cake with molten chocolate and the, cold vanilla ice cream is the perfect combo.. 2nd visit order: Roasted chicken, garlic pasta fried chicken, lasagna de pollo(takeaway), Tiramisu, and fresh lime soda. Now, the only disappointment I had was the roast chicken. The chicken was overcooked, and so it was tough and dry. The mashed potato paired with it was great, but I struggled to finish the chicken due to a lack of some sauce and dryness. The garlic pasta was just love.. the creamy pasta woth the paired chicken was just amazing. Now, I have my greatest praise for the Tiramisu.. Honestly, I had this dessert a few times but was disappointed, but here the Tiramisu is just authentic and amazingly delicious.. I was very satisfied with the dessert and so I packed 2 more for take away.. This has become my go-to place now whenever I visit Kolkata.. especially when I crave tiramisu and pizza..

I saw this cafe in my Instagram Reel a few months ago and decided to visit it with my friends. It's a cozy cafe with limited outdoor and indoor seating. I liked the concept of the interior of this cafe, where visitors can write anything on the wall or on sticky notes. Coming to the food, It is pocket-friendly with a variety of Mexican, Spanish, and Italian dishes. I personally loved the pizza here because of its thin crust. Don't forget to try their tiramisu; it's a little bit costly with plenty of amount, but it's worth the price.

Indulge in a delightful culinary journey at Raj Spanish Cafe! From scrumptious pizzas to aromatic coffees, and a wide array of breakfast options, teas, lassis, and more, this cafe is a haven for foodies. The fusion of Spanish and local flavors creates a unique and satisfying experience. Don't miss the chance to savor their diverse menu that caters to every craving.

One of the best in town. I’ve been to a lot of places now and trust me when I say this place is literally heaven. We ordered their Aglio E Olio, their classic garlic pasta with fried chicken, Soufflé, Honey Lemon Soda, Lemon Soda, Iced Mocha Frap and Shrimp fried in garlic oil (I unfortunately forgot the name😂). We were so busy enjoying the food that I just took two pictures and I literally started devouring it all😂 The food, the ambiance, the owner, the hospitality ❣️ Loved it all. We ordered so much and by the end of our meal we were really full but still we wanted to eat more😂. I swear it was that delicious ❤️ Another pro tip: Try ordering their iced mocha Frappuccino, it can beat Starbucks any day🥺🥺💕💕.

Visited this place two days ago after seeing it on Instagram reels. 5/5 for me. The place has a really nice vibe and is very aesthetically pleasing, the walls are covered with messages and quotes from customers. The outdoor seating is beautiful and there's music playing on the speakers. The menu has Mexican, Spanish and Italian dishes. THE PIZZA IS AMAZING, 10/10 MUST TRY. I would also recommend the Honey Lime Soda, it's something I haven't heard or tried anywhere before ( 9.5/10 ).

A pleasant diversion amidst the crowded Esplanade area. It's easily accessible from the old new market area. They serve some Mexican, Italian and Spanish dishes, partially adapted to the Indian pallet. We tried Pollo asado, Gambas and Chocolate souffle. Pollo asado is roasted tender chicken (whole) sitting on butter, olive oil and garlic sauce. It is served along with mash potato. Gambas shrimp is another delicate dish that comes with Italian bread and salad The chocolate souffle was the best. Hospitality was excellent. The two owners and the manager , answered our queries regarding these dishes and also spoke about their passion and core competence that made their venture a success and sustain over a period of time. Other reviewers have spoken at length regarding the ambience, I don't have anything to add further. Instead, I'm attaching a video clipping showing the ambience as we entered the cafe from outside.

The place is a bit difficult to locate as it's tucked in corner of Sudder Street but once you move past that you get a no frills relaxed atmosphere with good food and a laid back crowd, all complementing each other. I loved the place to the full and would definitely be going back.

Perfect ambience for long adda and conversations, with food almost worth the price. Recommendations- Spicy chicken pepperoni pizza, Shepherds Pie, Blueberry cheesecake and Tiramisu.
Gangotri Laskar
This one of the best places hidden in the lanes of Kolkata. The ambiance, the food, the behaviour of the staff!! Just excellent

A cozy Spanish Cafe in the heart of Kolkata(Esplanade).Pretty much pocket friendly for everyone with quality food. Must Try :- ----------- Wood Fired Pizza ✅✅✅ Tiramisu ✅✅✅

It is a small cafe with limited seating area inside... However the price of the food are extremely cost-effective. The taste is indeed great and a perfect place to hang out with friends. I tried the white pasta with fried chicken, chocolate souffle & brownie with ice cream. Looking forward to taste the other popular delicacies of the place.

Apart from the very cool ambiance and all encompassing character, the best thing about Raj's spanish cafe is the open kitchen and the freshly made food. One really doesn't mind waiting there for long, for the foods are worth the wait. It is surprising that they manage to serve all what are listed in the menu in such a reasonable price, without really compromising on its quality.
Pramit Das
An unique restaurant with great desserts. One of my favourite place for sure. If you love quality over ambience then it's a heaven for u. The quality of food is awesome and pocket friendly, the staffs are too good and polite. PS. I love the fried ice cream soooo sooooo much. If you go to esplanade for shopping or to hangout with friends or family , checked into Raj's Spanish cafe and order fried ice cream. Trust me it will make your day special.
Sreetama Roy
One of my all time favorite place in Calcutta. Very reasonable, delicious food and very polite staffs. People who look for ambience rather than the food, I advise you not to choose this option. I go here for their food and not the ambience. P.S .-- I love the ambience as well.
Anupal Chakraborty
One of my favorite places in the city to hangout with some real delicious foods... And those quotes on the walls... Puts an extra flavor to the time and food too.
Nitish Sharma
Restaurant cum home where you will surely like to hangout with your friends... A must try place in Kolkata with best friends.

A very special experience to say the least. Had our lunch accompanied by fresh food, jovial people and soothing ambience. That spontaneous dance and cheers to spanish music was too good. Those writings on the wall, ceilings are a visual delight!!!
Archie Sharma
Me and my best friend's favorite getaway! The ambience was superb. The food was delicious and the pizza was cooked in the traditional way. We call it our secret Adda place.
Amreeta Das
Awesome place. I like how you keep your rooms dimly lit. The absence of air conditioner in this heat is compensated by the amazing food and ambience. Reading the scribblings on the wall is a visual feast. How did people manage to write on the ceiling though? The Affogato was delicious and so was the burrito. I didn't like the honey lemon soda. Maybe you can clear a part of the wall because we had to struggle to find a space to squeeze our atrocious message.
Naini Shalini Dasgupta
The best place for authentic Espanol food. Not to forget, pocket friendly prices.
Jose Manuel Fernandez Cuesta

A hidden gem at Sudder Street, the cafe provides a variety of multicuisine dishes including Italian, Mexican, Spanish. A cozy place to spend some hours and also has a open sitting area. I ordered:

1. Lasagna De Pollo
(Baked pasta layered with chicken and cheese)

2. Albondigas en salsa español
(Chicken meat balls served with fries and bread)

3. Burrito
(Wheat flour tortilla wrap consisting refried beans and chicken served with guacamole)

4. Chicken burger combo
(Pollo burger french fries and coke)

5. Pasta con pollo e funghi
(Pasta with chicken and mushroom in white sauce)

6. Brownie with ice cream.

A big thumbs up for the food taste and quality.

Enchiladas verders! Must have!
We used go here bunking our college just to have their milkshakes and pizzas! Fan of this place in Sudder street!

This place is like a lovers hug. It makes you feel at home and at peace. The ambience is super cosy and the staff is extremely courteous. It’s on the road that runs with Indian Museum on one side and Zaranj on the other.
Coming to the food, it was absolutely delicious and I rest my case there. We had ordered pasta which was so good that I might cry I just thinking about it, smashed potatoes, prawn sizzlers and tiramisu. The quantity was pretty good and the bill came under 800. This place is sheer gold ♥️

The Raj Spanish Cafe is situated in the New Market Area , Kolkata .
So we ordered-
- 3 tripled layer veg sandwiches
- 2 choco milkshake
Both of the dishes were amazing . Service was prompt and the staff was also cooperative. Prices are worth to the quantity and quality of food they serve . Hope to visit this place again .

This place will show you a good time with your friends with amazing food. The walls are decorated with different messages from customers all around the world. I had
1. Chicken lasagna - RS. 290
2. Chocolate souffle - RS. 130
The souffle is highly recommended. This place has a homely feel to it. Definitely worth visiting.

Visited this small cafe hidden at New Market area after being recommended by a friend. Simple but elegant ambiance with an outdoor sitting arrangement is refreshing. The staff is very friendly and will give you a homely feel. We ordered a Darjeeling Tea and a Cold Coffee for drinks which were nice.
Tried the Croquetas de Pollo which was good. Sufficient portion size and it was flavourful. Ordered Pasta Aglio Olio Peperoncino Which was also very delicious. The Enchiladas Verdes was also nicely cooked with good flavours and good amount of chicken filling. The cheesy tomato sauce on the top gave another dimension to the dish. Loved all of them.
I saw a lot of young crowd so it is a perfect place for a get together with friends. Will definitely recommend to everyone.

Amazing place hidden away in the backyard of treasure island in new market.the ambience is amazing, with the music and an equally pleasing and hospitable service.do try the pizza,as still one of the few places that uses a woodburn stove to make it.
Ardhi Vivek
This place was on my list for so long, finally went there with my school friends. We stayed there for 2 hours, had our food, played our own music via Bluetooth speakers, played ludo which was kept over there, basically did everything that we could at any place. The unique thing about this place is that you can write anything on the walls and furniture! Yes you read that right, take your marker and just leave your mark there😬!
Anjita Paul
This place has a great interior and the staffs are very courteous. Coming to the food the polo asado was greattttttt. I will come back again for this and the souffle was yummy and fresh. Other than this we tries the fried chicken garlicky pasta. The chicken was very crispy but the pasta was not that impressive it could be more creamy and was a bit saltless. The lasagna was so so. But again the Enchiladas Verdes was veryy good. This is a very cozy cafe and a visit by college students is a must

I use to visit here very often.. Its a very good place to hangout with and the ambiance is very nice, very friendly staffs, and the quality of the foods were very nice. The foods are very tasty.. I have tried many items from here .. Only the thing that is it is located in a odd place so that people can't easily track it..
The place is very good..
Must visit here

The ambience was a great greaaaat turn on point, extremely cozy and homely! ❤️
They had quite an elaborated menu, from pasta to variety of pizza!
Loved their CREME BRÛLÉE!! (Must try if you are around there.

Pretty cafe with outdoor seating arrangements which is perfect for winters. The location might be a little obscure but nothing that google maps cannot solve. The interiors are adorned with quirky wall graffiti and you can add your own message to it ! They also have a couple of board games for entertainment while you wait for your food. Although the service is so prompt, you really don't have to wait too long for your food to arrive.

Garlic pasta fried chicken- Rs 300 (4/5)
Garlicky pasta topped with crumb fried chicken. Quite a pleasant dish but the pasta in the cheesy sauce was a little bland.

Huevo Rellenos- Rs 120 (4/5)
Tuna fish mixed with tomato sauce, mayonnaise and egg yolks, presented in the boiled egg whites. It was a unique dish but for anyone who doesn't enjoy seafood, the flavour of the tuna is rather too strong.

Albondigas en salsa Espanol- Rs 220 (4/5)
Meatballs on a bed of cheesy sauce with fries and bread. Again the sauce was a little bland but the meatballs were cooked to perfection.

Flan de Huevo- Rs 80 (4/5)
Classic caramel pudding but the smell of egg was a little too strong. Although nothing that can't be ignored.

Raj Spanish cafe is the ultimate hang out spot for youngsters. Located at Sudder street, this cafe attracts a lot of young crowd and is quite popular amongst foreigners living in the vicinity. This cafe is not like regular cafes. It doesn't have AC or premium seating arrangement. What it has to offer is far more than that. The cafe has cushioned benches to sit, eat, chill and relax. It also has outside seating arrangement which by the looks absolutely dreamy in the evening with all the fairy lights. Another amazing thing about this cafe is the their walls. The walls are filled with doodles and small notes and messages written by its customers, which makes the place even more hip. The place has a hippie vibe to it which is absolutely amazing.
Coming to the food, they have the best options in really affordable prices. The pastas, pizzas, desserts, you name it. Everything is absolutely delicious and comes at a really affordable price.

To be very honest while I was entering the place it did not impress me much, but later own the behaviour of the stuff, the ambiance and to be very specific the food was too good. Loved it absolutely. They have a beautiful interior and an equally beautiful courtyard. One can opt to enjoy in any of the places. Special mention to the wall paintings. I would recommend this for sure atleast for once.
Ishita Dan
I had the Pollo asado con pure de patata. Cost 300rs. Taste 5/5. They serve you this huge piece of chicken which tasted so so good. It was juicy and had all the right flavors. It’s cooked in olive oil so definitely a great healthy option to try out. I would definitely come back for this!

Great place!!! Loved the ambience and specially the fact that they uphold the spanish culture so well. The food was on point. The chocolate soufflé was pure heaven.
But , just a little point that put me off a bit, they didn't serve a glass of water or offered water when we sat down to eat. That was really unexpected.
Otherwise, an awesome visit... would definitely visit again.
Aranya Brojabasi

This is an amazing place with delicious food.
This place was in my bucket list for months and finally got the chance to visit. The place is always full with deshis & bideshis 🤪.
We ordered ¶chicken and egg soup 🍵 ¶ Pasta Aglio Olio Oeperoncino 🍝 ¶ Nutella Crepe ¶ Cafe Latte ☕
All the items were delicious. The soup was very mild.
The interior was very quirky. Minimal decorations. This place will give a feeling of more like college canteen rather than some posh cafe. Here you have to write down your own order. I liked the ambience and the staffs were very cordial. Will definitely visit this place to try some other dishes.

Raj Spanish Cafe a hidden gem Located at Sudder Street, New Market Area kolkata

This cafe is quite different from the other mainstream cafes in Kolkata
If you are going for the first time then you may face some difficulties to reach the location. Finally visited Raj's Spanish Cafe yesterday..
And I was pleasantly surprised with the cozy ambience, the courteous staffs and finally the lip smacking food.
You have to write your orders on the pad provided to you..
We ordered Cheese sandwich, Tuna sandwich, Iced Café Latte and Souffle Di Cioccolato (Chocolate Souffle).
All the items were scrumptious and the dessert was just heavenly..
The only problem is that it's hard to locate for anyone who's going there for the first time..
Overall, had an amazing experience and would definitely recommend this hidden gem to those pondering over visiting it..

I gave another visit to this cafe for some breakfast. We ordered Lasagna de Pollo, Garlic Pasta Fried Chicken, and to gulp these down some Iced Tea. The Lasagna lacked the vibrant taste it used to hold. The pasta was saltless. The only good thing in place was the fried chicken. One of the iced tea lacked sugar and lemon to non-existent level. This place always throws me back to the college days just as I step in. But my recent experience is going to keep me away for a long time.
Devayush Chowdhary
Interesting ambience. Mostly for foreigners who stay in Sudder street. Food is decent but nothing that would draw you all the way from south Kolkata more than once. Prices are reasonable.
Saivi Chatterjee
The dessert was awesome. Its a must try for all.

This place is one of the best cafés in Kolkata.. the food is good.. can sit there with your friends and chat.. a must visit place
Rusa Bhowmik
This had been one of the most visited cafes during college life. The best thing about this place was the simple decor with all the graffiti inside. The surprise pizza is worth a try, it is mostly a combination of all the pizza varieties on the menu or one can customise the toppings, apart from that Pollo e funghi will remain an all-star favourite. Among the sandwiches, chicken sandwich and tuna sandwich is a must have. Pasta Al Pomodoro and both the lasagnas (Verduras & Pollo) are sumptuous. The combos and specials are worth the money. Among the desserts, the brownie and the souffle have always been a hit; but here the Flan de huevo and Tiramisu will be equally recommended.
The staff are courteous and greets every time one steps in, orders food, asks a question or anything however long your stay be in the cafe.

Located at sudder street. Nearest metro station is indian museum gate of park Street. Ambience is very nice. I celebrated my birthday over here along with my friends. Pocket friendly. They have both inside and outside seating arrangements. It's a non AC cafe. Food is good. We ordered the following

Raj Spanish Cafe : A hidden gem in Sudder Street!

Coming to the food, the Tuna Sandwich was very very tasty. Cafe Latte and Tea was good too.

This was my second visit here after years and it was such a turn off. I ordered Cinnamon and lemon crepe which was actually a thin pancake with cinnamon powder sprinkled and two pieces of lemon slices. Tasted disaster. The tofu Caesar salad had a hair in it and it wasn't worth the money at all. The watermelon juice was good but the quantity wasn't apt for the price paid. They serve tea for Rs 50 which is actually tea bag pouches we get in the market for like Rs 5 or Rs 10. Very disappointing.

Raj Spanish Cafe : A hidden gem in Sudder Street! The ambience is average and there is no AC as well. It's an open area restaurant run by a Spanish owner but the staffs are very courteous.
And you have to write down your own order!

Coming to the food, the Tuna Sandwich was very very tasty. Ensalada Mixta, which is a Spanish salad consisting of fresh veggies, boiled eggs, olives and tuna, was a healthy one and tasted good too. The disaster was Lasagna De Pollo, which we didn't like at all. Cafe Latte and Tea was good.

In Frame:
Cafe Latte
Ginger Tea
Tuna Sandwich
Ensalada Mixta
Lasagna De Pollo

Pocket Pinch : Rs. 600 approximately for two people
Opens at 8am. This place is truly one of the hidden gems of Kolkata as it is located in a small alley near esplanade. The ambience of Raj Spanish Café was really cool and you get to see a lot of hot foreigners there 😛. Jokes apart, the food was great. Spaghetti was amazing so was the cheesy mushroom and chicken pasta. The Soufle di Cioccolato was something I have never tasted, the dessert was extremely chocolatey and yummy and lovely. Would definitely recommend people to try this place out 😬.

I specially went to raj spanish cafe to try their soufle di cioccolato which is chocolate soufle with vanilla ice cream. This dish is highly recommended and do try this dish if you are going to this place..I will definately visit again to try their other dishes. The ambience is very soothing and friendly.

One must try the Chocolate Souffle from this place. One of the best desserts I have ever had. I strongly recommend this. Gonna be a treat for the dessert lovers. The price is just Rs. 130.
One more thing, It takes nearly half an hour to make this souffle. Hence, you need wait for a bit if you want to try this.

This place is very hard to locate.

Coming to the ambience, this place has scribblings all over the wall. This cafe is such a buddy place.

The place is nice but not that spacious. Ambience is good and it gathers mostly the foreigners .A place where you can hang out with your friends at an affordable price.
The Calcutta Foodie
After hearing of Raj's Spanish cafe from multiple reliable sources, I finally made my way here and I am going to list down reasons as to why you should visit this place:
1. The best Pizza in town - I have been to every pizza joint and had all kinds of pizzas, thin crust, home made crust, thick crust but I have never had a pizza like the one these guys make! The first bite had me close my eyes and go "mmmmmm". I ordered the chicken and mushroom pizza and it was juicy and tangy and amazing all on the first bite itself. Pizza so good, I literally fought for the last slice!
2. Amazing pasta - I tried the spaghetti carbonara on the recommendation of a friend and boy was it amazing! The pasta was al dente, the sauce was absolutely stunning!
3. The tiramisu - This, tbh, is the part I'm most excited to talk about, the tiramisu here was so good, so good that even after eating everything, we considered ordering one more serving. It was light as air, had the perfect coffee flavor and was so so good overall! My sweet dreams are made of the tiramisu they serve at this place!
The food here is outstanding and the ambience is lovely with fairy lights at the entrance and the scribble wall inside! This is literally a gem of Calcutta and I hope to go here multiple times cause well, from now on, Italian for me means Raj's spanish cafe!
P.S. Does anyone read zomato reviews anymore? If you do, show me that you do! Drop a like or a comment or you can follow me on Instagram, I have the same name (The Calcutta Foodie) there too!Let's talk food! :D

The ambience is one of the best among the reasonably priced cafés serving italian food. They is an amazing range of graffiti which you should amply use to capture amazing pictures. Location is even better. Near new market ...so grab a plate while you go shopping.

This place located in Sudder Street, is a gem of a place for all the college students & people.
This place is located at a walking distance from Esplanade.
We ordered for a Mint Lemonade, Spaghetti Aglio Olio Peppercino, Espresso served with Ice cream, and A Tiramisu.
All these costed us just 520 Bucks! My one of the favourite places in this city where I can chill for hours. The ambience is amazing n the food is super lovable. Our regular order from their menu is aglio oglio pasta and coffee.
Pritha Biswas
This place is mostly known for its hippie environment. The prices are quite low and some of the simple dishes are good. Had the cafe bombon and a cappuccino, both the coffees were really sweet on their own. But they tasted great. The prices are low and so are the portions. We ordered a caramel custard and it looked very unshapely. The texture was very dense almost too curdy rather than fluffy and it was too sweet. Tasted like an overly sweet mishti doi with a caramel top.
Paushali Guha Ray
This small little space tucked in one of the narrow alleys of Sudder Street is one of the legendary cafes of Kolkata. Tried their Fish Pescado with French Fries and Salad which also comes with a 200 ml glass bottle of cold drink (forgot to get a click). For a pocket Pinch of Rs 250 it was quite a wholesome meal for one. The taste was moderate if not outstanding. I would recommend this place for people with a pocket friendly budget who do not have a fancy for ambience.

Never heard the name but I love their pizza. This is like my new favorite place to order from.
This is what the delivery guy always does to the pizza. He ruins a wonderful pizza.

This place was on my bucket list too for a long time and I planned to visit here ever since I went to college but much to my disappointment this place turned out nothing I expected it to be. Considering the fact it is a low budget pocket-friendly cafe even then the cafe decor and cleanliness was on the lower side.
Coming to the food here, I will go one by one the experiences I had:
1. Lasagna De Pollo: This dish was prepared under 5 minutes and served to us and it was 11 in the morning. Since I already knew the lasagna was stale and they simply reheated the food and served us, the food was also burnt.
2. Pancake Breakfast: This platter although had everything lacked the simple essence of pancakes. The platter consists of three pancakes with jam, butter, honey and lemon slices served with tea/coffee and fresh fruit juice. The fruit juice was the only thing fresh and tasty here. The pancakes were not at all fluffy and lacked taste.

The staff here was not friendly either, and they lacked knowledge about their own menu. I will definitely not recommend this place.
For more food updates keep following @thegirlacrssthetable on Zomato, Instagram and Facebook.

Located near khaddya bhavan, sudder street. It has a outdoor seating too. You will always find those firangs there gorging upon those delicacies or simply having a chat while seeping a cup of freshly brewed coffee. You can just go there and relax while having food. We had pollo asado which is pasta in white sauce with fried chicken strips as toppings. You will get fried chicken strips in place of garlic breads (winner isnt it?)
If you love cheese, your tastebuds will giggle. Then we had pescado with french fries and veggies. Light fried basa fish. The fish was very soft. And last but the least a glass of lemonade hurts nobody right? This is a hidden gem. (the location of the cafe is quite hidden literally) must visit everyone.

❤️ Hidden gem in the heart of KOLKATA ❤️ If you need a place to simply take a break from everyday's life, this is the place for you. Location: The cafe is located in the narrow street in Sudder street and it itself is a little scheduled. 5-6 mins walking distance from parkstreet metro station as well as esplanade metro station. Once found though, it has a relaxing atmosphere both inside and outside. The lights, the decoration, the ambience is imperfectly perfect. Basically tourists come to this place often, but it's really a good place to hangout. Okay, now coming to food we have ordered: 1. Iced coffee mocha with chocolate sauce: 130rs. Ratings 👉 (4/5) 2. Pollo fungi pizza: 470rs Ratings 👉(5/5) Amazing crust layer of pizza which is itself made by them and chicken, mushroom and cheese in the toppings. Thin but amazing taste. Overall cost: 740rs I recommend going during evening when they turn on the fairy lights ( great lighting for taking pictures). If you will go there or already have gone, then let me know in the comment section. Thank you 😊 #thepetukbangali

Raj spanish cafe is one such place which I wanted to visit for a long time. I heard a lot of great reviews of this cafe, so one fine day I decided to drop by!
The cafe is pretty cute and has an open space too sit and chill. Not very decorative and I personally found it a bit hard to locate.
Now, coming to the Food -
Ordered one lasagne and chocolate soufflé and I really had high hopes for the food.
The lasagne was cheesy and awesome but it was just a single slice only !
The chocolate soufflé wasn't even a soufflé it was ChocoLava cake. Though tasted heavenly!
So, the food is awesome but the quantity is pretty less.

Breakfast is in one word #fantastic here.. From the freshly cooked pancakes to the freshly sqeezed fruit juices this little delight in a far set corner of new market is a real delight

I go here with my friends often .. the ambience is good and so are the people ... the food is good too . They have very good pizza n pasta. The lasagna was a but dry though for me.

What an amazing place to eat at! The ambience, the food, the music, the interior everything is beyond comparison. I specially loved the wall where people from different countries wrote messages in their own languages!
Coming to food... Chef's special pizza is finger licking, very soft and moreover you don't know what surprise (different slices of the pizza may contain different food items😉)will be in the pizza!Soufle di ciccolato is something I'll never forget, an excellent dessert, probably one of the best I ever had.
In conclusion I would say it's a reasonable cafe & you'll find very home made feeling in the food.

One of the few places in Kolkata for foreigners! Once you get in, you'll be mesmerised by their authentic designing, i e- Stuffs written by foreigners! Not that you'll be denied admission 😂
It was basically a small personal space of the owner, who added table chairs and made it into a cafe (startup ideas?)
And yes, do try their deserts, you'll love it!

It is located in the new market area of Kolkata. Though it was very hard to find the cafe from the new market. This place is kind of like a hidden treasure. I went there with one of my friend. We ordered one rice dish, one Mediterranean salad and two lava cake. The food was really good and made with fresh ingredients. The rice dish and the salad was well seasoned. The lava cake was perfectly cooked with a lovely gooey centre.
Shayaree Sengupta (The Gorging Gourmet)
Soufle Di Cioccolato - Names can be deceptive also - as in the picture above, this item is not a souffle but hot choco lava cake with vanilla ice cream. But, wait a minute - although the name doesn't match the dish, the taste is just superb. With a crispy thin outer crust of the cake, the gooey hot liquid chocolate gushes out as soon as one digs into it with the spoon. The rich chocolate flavour complements the cold vanilla ice cream really well. It took them more than half an hour to serve this freshly baked goodness but took us lesser than 10minutes to finish it off. This dessert is a recommended one and worth the wait.

Raj's Spanish Cafe is located on Sudder Street near New Market and is really difficult to locate because of its almost invisible location. There are both outer and inner seating arrangements. The outer one is pretty with fairy lights, a graffiti wall and plants and the inner one has very simple or almost no decor.
Rishakhi Chakraborty
Simple decor and excellent food. Though the location is a bit difficult to find.
Lasagna was on point. Honey lemon soda was very refreshing.
Ritam Mondal
A cozy cafe for friends outing near new market. This cafe is cozy and decor is also ok. Been there few weeks ago and had a coffee and pastry. It's a cafe mainly for snacks and beverages at pocket friendly price.
Sourav Kundu
The cafe is little different from the mainstream cafes of Kolkata. You may face challenge to find it out for the first time. The place cool , calm and simple. wall paintings and hand written feedback makes the ambiance beautiful. We have ordered 3 items. 2 salad items and 1 sandwich.
Sip_slurp_nibble
Though i location is in the interior, almost invisible to the eyes, but this place is worth the visit. Simple easy decor, cool cafe ambience. We had honey lime soda and Albondigas en salsa española. both tasted on point.
Tiyasa Roy
This place has been visited by people from different parts of the world.
You are sure to find some foreigners
This place has a very homely vibes.
Their chocolate souffle is a must try.
They should make an ac seating arrangement.

Much like Blue Sky Cafe(which is a few paces down Sudder Street) sans the air conditioning. Again, a hit with the foreigners and millennials alike. They are mainly known for their rendition of Spanish and Italian dishes. Their Pizzas and pastas happen to be quite good and plus you get to choose your sauce and toppings. There are a few pre printed pizzas on the menu to help you along what might seem like a very confusing task. Apart from their pizzas, do try the Ablongidas en Salsa Española. Basically meats balls in a gravy served with toasted bread. Certain items might sound a bit exotic but be warned they're just normal dishes with Spanish names so as in my case it left me quite disappointed when I went with Patatas Bravas which tasted like normal alu r torkari you prepare at home.
A bit difficult to locate make sure you have Google maps turned on. If you know Blue Sky Cafe then this place is a few metres ahead of it towards Free School Street. Trying out non veg items would be a good suggestion here. (Thank me later)
Though it is named as a Spanish Cafe, the biggest irony is that their best dishes happen to be Italian.

Amazingg place especially for breakfast, loveedd the american platter and the fresh pressed juice of the day was BOMB (watermelon). Definitely give a visit ❤

I heard alot about this place from my college days . People are really fanatic of this place and so I needed to know why . It's located on Sudder street . It's a pretty little cafe where the outside seating is the main attraction . Green plants , fairy lights like bulbs and aesthetic wall paintings makes the ambulance so beautiful . From the menu we tried :
1. Iced mocha (Recommended)
2. Honey lemon ginger
3. Lime soda
4. Lasagna de pollo (Recommended)
5. Souffle de cioccolate (Recommended)

The price of the lasagna was bit overpriced for me compared to the quantity .

This place is very close to the CMA Institute.
This place is 10 - 15 mins walking from the Esplanade metro station.

This will be a student fav place as it is very pocket friendly.
If u have a tight budget then this is definitely your place.

The ambience is nothing great but the food is.
From sandwiches to pizza you will get here all.

I visited here for my breakfast and tried the egg sandwich which was just for Rs. 100

They served us a two layered sandwich. It had three brown breads. The first layers had onions, tomatoes. Above that we found a decent amount of mayonnaise, shredded carrots lettuce and an omelette. From above the covered it with hell lot of cheese which of course enhanced the taste.

Worth a visit.

❤

A very nice cosy Spanish cafe situated at sudder street, Kolkata. This place is a bit hard to locate. It's better to take the road Turing left after Indian Meuseum and walk for 5 minutes using Google map.
It's not that much crowded so you can sit as long as you want. We ordered American breakfast combo. Pizza is available after 12. Would love to visit again.

One of my all time Favorite Cafe for hanging out with friends and have some Spanish Italian and Mexican dishes. This place is pretty cool as the ambience is as good as the good they provide and there’s also a outdoor sitting area where smoking is allowed it’s an absolute gem in the centre of the city and.I do visit this cafe very frequently
Anik Bhaduri
The menu looks great and is quite affordable but its location is a bit difficult to find out. However, poor service and a shabby ambience hinder the cafe's claim to fame.
Subham Das
The ambience is really good. Great joint for hanging out with friends and family. The food was not up to the mark. The meatballs were quite dry and pasta was a bit bland. But the interiors and ambience makes it a great place for a date. I'll surely visit again to try out something else.
Pramila Tripathi
We visited this place on a really hot summer noon. One of the biggest disadvantages of this place is that it is not air conditioned. However, the food makes up for it. We had only dessert here. We had a Spanish caramel custard and a Chocolate Bannana Crepe. Both were yum. It is better to visit this place in winter. The sitting arrangement and the ambience is cozy. Overall a nice place.
Ankan Bhowmick
While I did like the food and atmosphere here but I was taken aback by the strange behaviour of the staff. After the meal, I called for the bill which they took back after I made the payment. They said that they 'need it for the record'. That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard!
Biyas Acooli
It's situated at Esplanade and the bet place if you want to experience some real good European food .
Though as we wanted to try some Spanish delicacy and ended up ordering Espinacas Salteadas..the taste was not up to our expectations. The dish had - Half cooked spinach with garlic and sauteed seafood- oyster, squid, prawn served with bread.

I have heard a lot about this place. So visited today to check this place. Ambience is quite good. A Mediterranean feel one can get. They have comfortable seating. But the unprofessional and casual attitude of the stuff really made me feel bad. The waiter was busy flirting with his female friends and totally neglecting us. The waiter gave the order slip to us to write the order. I am confused? Is it their policy?
I had a chicken mushroom pasta with white sauce. Food tasted good. Someday I shall visit there to taste their pizza. But for now I can onely rate them 3.5/5 and that only because the ambience, the food and of course their quick service.

Truly one of the hidden gems of Kolkata. The food is a bit over priced but the taste is 5/5. They have both outdoor and indoor seating. Finding the place was a bit hectic. But ya it won't disappoint you with it's food. I ordered chicken lasagna, fungi pizza and sweet lime soda.
Ritayan Roy
Hidden gem of Kolkata. One of the best place to have pizza in Kolkata. They still use the traditional clay oven. Pollo asado, Shepherd's Pie and pastas are also equally good.Strongly recommended

Visited today for the first time after hearing great things. It definitely lived up to expectations and more. A relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely be visiting again!

Cannot find a better example to justify the title “Hidden gems”.
Located in a quiet alley in Sudder street.. it truly is a gem.
My fiancé took me to this place and this was the best tea date we have ever had!
The ambiance.. the peace.. the simplicity and charm of this place.. the amazing food.. I can’t praise it enough.
We had croquettes & ginger honey tea.
It was the best ginger tea I have ever had!
And it’s unbelievably reasonable.
What more can one possibly ask for?
I am so much in love with this place .. it’s a shame I have not known it before.
Can’t wait for my subsequent visits!!

Happy eating 😊

Food is good,
Cleanliness is average,
The position the of the kitchen makes the temperature worse..
Staffs are well behaved,
But highly overpriced with respect to it's alternatives..

Ummm...
Hidden gem by true sense. Finding the joint was a bit hectic but once you r in, umm... thats d word to express your satisfaction.
lovely desserts to fall for. Have not tried other dishes, so no comments

I am in love with this place. The vibes, the ambience and the food, I simply loved everything about this place.

Location: It might be a bit of a hard find following Google Maps, but you can ask about in the area and people will guide you to the place. Just enter the lane between India Museum and Zaranj and walk for 3 mins, there will be a short clearing to the left hosting some shops and also the entrance to the cafe.

Ambience: The place gives of an European feel with the understated charming decor, the graffiti on the wall and the strung lights.

Food:

On two separate visits, we had the following:

Espinacas Salteadas:

Spanish food is a style of cuisine that is curated for simple brilliant flavours and very much quick bites. This dish is a representation of that very culture. They fry up a bed of spinach in olive oil and it is topped over by a handful of fried shrimps and squids. The seafood is cooked perfectly, not chewy at all and retains ounce of its naturality. This dish is not for those who go in search of big bold flavours talking their tongue for a taste fest. It is rather an expression of how simple flavours can work together really well with little spice and make them work beautifully.

Pollo Asado con pure de patata:

Well its basically straight up half a grilled chicken. And yeah. It is as simple as it sounds. Except that the simplicity was executed perfectly. The chicken is a tad dry on the first bite but keeps getting juicer every next moment into the meal. The chicken is grilled with skin on which gives a different texture from a regular grilled chicken. It is served up with a bed of mashed potatoes and a bit of olive oil used at the bottom. It is a kinda of a dish that many would not appreciate. But well, if you are a person who can appreciate the simpler things, just maybe you can give it a try.

Chicken Stroganoff:

A crowd favourite for sure, this beauty represents comfort food at its very best. Raj Spanish Cafe is a place known for simple cooking and they aced at it again. The pasta was al dente, cooked to perfection and paired up brilliantly with the meat on the side. The veggies provide a beautiful crunch to the dish. The flavour profile is spot on and it is something you can rely on. Must try!

Special Pizza (Surprise):

The place serves authentic wood fire pizza and that instigated me to order one. This pizza comes with four different toppings, two slices of each type. Surprisingly, the pizza failed to strike a cord with us even though it looked amazing. I am still willing to give it another try and maybe I will change my mind.

Soufle Di Cioccolato:

At Raj Spanish Cafe, the initial warning is they take quite a bit of time to make it. And boy is every second of that worth it. The lava cake is homebaked right from the scratch, soft and sticky outside and gooey chocolate gushing out from the inside. The cake has tiny burnt edges which provide that tiny bit of crispiness to the edges to stick between your teeth. The pairing up with that vanilla ice cream has always been and will be the grand marriage of the dessert world. Stop reading this and stop talking, just go there and have it. Get ready to be blown away!

Cheesecake:

We had the cheesecake since they didn't have the Tiramisu in stock and we don't regret it one bit. I didn't think anything could top the lava cake from our first visit but it outshone it. This is what simple good authentic cooking will do to you. Till now, best cheesecake in the city and we have had quite a number of those. I can't wait to check out their other desserts!

I can't wait to go back to this place and I will update it on our subsequent visits.

Don't forget to follow us on Instagram @thekolkatafoodie for regular food updates!

If you want some hippie ambience this is the place to visit in Kolkata. Besides you get one of the best thin crust pizzas here.
Ambience: 5/5
Food: 5/5
Service: 4/5

Amazing food at incredibly affordable prices.

Their Pizza beats that of Brickwood cafe, Fabrication Della Pizza, and at half the price!
The pasta was alright..
Their Tiramisu-though heavenly for me, might not draw applause from purists, but definitely worth a taste.

Would definitely be going back there, many many times!

Went to this place some weeks back. Have heard a lot about it but the food was a bit of a disappointment. The food was a bit over prices and quantity is very less. Quality is not that bad. But can be better. Ordered chicken lasagna, grilled pasta fried chicken and Nutella banana pancake.

Well to start with, it was a quick visit to this place.

Pretty difficult to spot it if you aren't using navigation.
The fastest route would be if you get down at park street metro, and walk passing by the Indian Museum towards New Market. Then, I repeat : take the help of Gmap.

Decor: It has both open air and indoor seating. It appeared to be a place of choice for foreign tourists and bunches of young groups. The walls are filled with random personal lines and the cafe owner allows to write if you wish too. ( So don't forget to leave a mark there :D )

Food: We opted for that day's one of the special dishes: garlic pasta fried chicken. It was quite delicious and comes with a big chicken cutlet alongside.
For people having sweet tooth, I'd highly recommend you to have Tiramisu, it was heavenlyyyyyy!!

It is one of the vintage cafes in Kolkata with a wide range of European dishes. The dishes do come with a pocket friendly prices too.

It's a must must try! Bon appetit :)

Pallabi Biswas
Went there with my boyfriend for dinner. The ambience was nice. The wall art was pretty. Do not get confused when they hand you a pad. You have to write down your own order. Saves the mispronunciation of the dishes.
The staff seemed a little impersonal.
We ordered margarita pizza with capsicum toppings (Rs. 320/-). It was good.
The lasangna de pollo was not that great. Lacked in salt and flavour. (Rs. 280/-)
Burrito was a chapati with some stuffed chicken and spinach. The only thing good about it was the salsa on the side. (Rs. 220/-)
The cafe latte was mediocre. Milk content was less and the coffee flavour could not shine through. (Rs. 100/-)
Black coffee was mediocre and overpriced. You will get a medium cup for Rs. 130/-
