Review The Chutney Co. - Kolkata (Calcutta)

Vikas Singh
The best Guntur Karam Dosa, we have ever had. Better than the Guntur Karam Dosas available in Hyderabad, Vijayawada or even Guntur! And it was accompanied by nine different chutneys- Coconut chutney, Peanut chutney, Spicy coconut chutney, Spicy tomato chutney, Raw mango chutney, Mysore chutney, Sweet onion-tomato chutney, Curaikkay chutney and Chettinad chutney.

Thank god for this restaurant ๐Ÿฅบ a must visit if you love south Indian cuisine, the chutneys are just ๐Ÿ’ฏ๐ŸคŒ as the restaurant is rightly named after. We had Rava masala dosa with buttermilk. Highly recommended.

A good outlet to enjoy south indian food. The staff is really helpful. The USP of the restaurant is their 9 types of chutneys which they serve along with food. The catch is that you need to order 3 dishes to enjoy the 9 chutneys i.e. one dish = 3 chutneys. A peculiar thing about the masala dosa is that the masala is not put into the dosa but the same is served separately.

This place has turned out to be my favourite south Indian delicacy spot. This place has the joint venture of "The Piccadilly Square and The Chutney Co.". So one can drool over the Indian chutneys and on the other hand you can savour the continental dishes. All under the same roof.
Kavita Chandak
Serves the best dosa with many types of chutneys. Reasonable price bcoz their dosa is big and we were 3 people we ordered one dosa they had served 3 different bowl of sambhar. Their is also a extended part of Piccadilly square, we tried their pancakes it was just wonderful.

Place is best for vegetarian person. All item was good by taste wise. Mus visit

If you are in the mood for a good, often experimental, South Indian food, this would be the place for you. They have great food and great coffee. Since this is the Piccadilly Square establishment, you can rest assured that all will be well. This unit is located in the office district, and is bang opposite Great Eastern Hotel. I will recommend the Utthapam. This is a terrific restaurant for the vegetarians who like South Indian cooking. The chutneys a d breads are interest and fresh. Everything is house made. Though we didn't eat dessert, it was tempting. Lots of cakes and gelatos. South Indian Food is definitely good !!!! The service as regards to time taken to get in the food is fast. BUT the service of the staff is horrible and very indifferent. They are hardly bothered and lack the professionalism which is probably because of lack of training. Much that I would love to have the food again would not like to visit the place. Hopped into cozy south indian eatery cum cafe on a rainy day and it was delicious experience. Though I'm not quite an idli dosa lover but the food served here are unique, varied and tastes one of a kind.We had Mysore Masala dosa which was sufficient in portion and along with the assorted plate of chutneys its ticked all the boxes. We had Hazelnut coffee to soothe the cool rainy weather, which although was a bit pricey but was great, for dessert we had a blueberry cheesecake which was, may be not excellent, but delicious too !

The food was great, very tasty and service was quick and well maintained. Staffs and other were very friendly and helpful and a proper value of cleanliness can be seen. Best place to have good food, spend time with friends and cherish some good moments with family, friends and loved ones.

They offer mouth watering south Indian cuisines including diverse and unique varieties of Dosa such as Dhaniya dosa. It was delicious. We also tried Rava dosa and Gunpowder dosa, they were really crispy and delicious. The idlies were fluffy and big. Their specialties are in the 12 varieties of chutneys they serve and all tastes delicious. I really loved the lehsun chutney. The sambhar was equally delicious. You can ask for chutney or sambhar refills as well. They also served complimentary Brownie.

One of the best in class.... โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ We had mixed uttapam which was good served with shambhar and chutneys.. There Masala dosa is also good but the best was there Mysore Malgapodi Idly was huge , soft and yummy. There south Indian food is to die for specially there Chutneys, Other than the classic Coconut Chutney, they also have Peanut, Spicy Coconut, Garlic, Mysore my fav., Curaikkay, Spicy Tomato, Pappu Pachhadi and a Sweet Tomato Onion Chutney and each one have there unique flavour and all tastes distinct and better than the other!
devi sunil
The cafe serves south Indian delicacies like varieties of dosa, idli, Vada etc along with 9 different varieties of chutneys. All the chutneys and the dosai were very tasty which made us go to the place for a second time. Idlis are very soft and the filter coffee gives you the right kick.
Gourav Agarwal
Quite satisfied with food & service. Will visit again for sure.. Must visit if you love South Indian foods and you would get lots of options of chutney.

Get a plain dosa for both, drink sambar ๐Ÿคฃ (I didn't do that, but i could see others) One of the best sambars I ever had.
Priyam Ghosh
Best ever restaurant for South Indian dishes. A variety of chutneys are served with dosas. Highly recommended.
Foodie Couple
One of the best outlet for South Indian dish. Piccadilly Square and Chutney Co. are serving together in this place. Ambience is too nice. We ordered Rasam , Rava Masala Dosa , Paper Masala Dosa and Masala Bara... each of them was just delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹ Specially we loved the Paper Masala Dosa... From Piccadilly we took Lemon Sorbet which was good too.

The food was very Nice but the service needed more professional l.
Sumana Majumder
Very nice ambience and located at a strategic location right opposite Lalit Great Eastern and very near to Lal Dighi. On the first floor. Simple and nice restaurant where you can get all South Indian dishes and refreshing mocktails. Food quality and quantity is very good and price is very reasonable. Also very popular among office goers in that area. Enough sitting available.

The chutney company serves the most authentic south indian. The varities in chutney which they provide will steal your heart away.
Its a perfect family dinning restraunt.
Its perfect for breakfast ๐Ÿ˜
The ambience is calm and soothing.

Chutney Co is a place to die for south indian lovers. Numerous varieties under one roof.
Molagapodi idlis are super soft with the wonderfully and generously spread podi on top making every bite cherishable.
Guntur karam dosa another bingo , may seem a light dosa by the view but i bet its very filling , the masala inside is super yummy and has a tangy taste as well to give your tastebuds a different experience in a dosa. You will have to visit it numerous times to try out their every dish. Very nicely presented and served in a great, clean , hygenic ambience.
Will keep visiting at intervals and try out all the dishes.
Shubham Sharma
Certainly a go to restaurant for all south indian lovers living in Kolkata.
Tried paper butter masala dosa, cheese masala dosa, uttapam pizza and filter coffee. Everything was just perfect except sambhar could have been a little bit more tangy. Definitely a 4.5 rating restuarant.
Ayushree Periwal
I simply love the fact that they have included the picadillyโ€™s menu here too. The varieties of chutneys was luring and also the fact that they served sambhar separately to everyone on the table. We also tried the blueberry cheesecake icecream and the chocolate fudge gelato and it was worth it.๐Ÿ˜Š
Ruturaj Nerurkar
Nice and quite place and keeps up with the brand name Chutney with a wide variety of chutney options. Idli was good and dosa was ok. Filter coffee scored though
Nice ambience and comfortable place
Sonam Agarwal
Tried cheese masala dosa, idly and one nutellea crepe based dessert.. Totally loved the food. Cheese dosa was crispy with lots of cheese stuffed along with masala. Idly was soft and fresh. Dessert was mind blowing although it was a bit overpriced.
Navneet Dugar.
Worst packaging ever. Ordered food for home delivery and was shocked by the packing..by the time I reached home with the food..chutneys and sambhar were leaking and the way it was packed it took me good 10 minutes to open it. Couldn't enjoy the food because of the stupid packing...I couldn't even open it from hand..had to use scissors..please take a note of it..and improve it

Gr8 South Indian Food served here. Loved the concept of 10 different types of chutneys. The masala of the masala dosa is very good. Sambhar, Mysore molagapodi idli were very good. Mysore dosa was also different. There were a lot of options/variety available.

I'm a regular at this restaurant. Very pocket friendly for a place with great ambience. The desserts will never disappoint you. Dosas are always served crisp. Thin crust pizza was also nice. I come here only for the chutneys- I'm in love with their flavours and taste!
The staff is very polite and courteous, they listen to your complaints. The only drawback is that I find their sambhar too sweet for my liking.

I have placed order for jain chutney , masala and sambhar but both sambhar and masala had onions into it. Very careless service.

They have offer 5 types of chutney that is awesome in taste. And a important information to share who never visited here that The chutney & co. and Picadilly square is marged. Their all food in taste is good, Ambiance is good, quality & quantity everything is fare. Service is likely. Surely recommended.

One of the best times to visit this place is in monsoon. When I arrived at the restaurant, all I could think about was the aroma of filter coffee spread around the room.

They serve a wide variety of South Indian dishes such as Dosa, Idli, Vada, Uttapam, etc. with Sambhar and 9 varieties of chutney.

Since, it is a partner-company of Piccadilly Square, you also get to enjoy amazing Italian dishes.

Totally worth the visit, and don't forget to try the coffee.

In Frame:-

Paper Masala Dosa ๐Ÿ’ต Rs 160/-

Blue Berry Gelato ๐Ÿ’ต Rs 89 /-

So it's a collaboration of Piccadilly Square and Chutney. Being primarily a south Indian restaurant, it also let's you enjoy items like pizza pasta, pan cakes and many more options. First speaking of the south Indian , what I love about this place is the number of options we get to choose from. There are many options which one gets in terms of what we want to order. In terms of the chutney, there are 8 to 9 varieties of it which is just lovely. The non south Indian items of the restaurant are also that good. They are very tasty. My favorite is the pesto sauce spaghetti. The last time we had visited we had ordered one plate of idly, one portion of vada, one portion of some kind of onion dosa. We had also ordered falafel and one portion of pizza. In beverages we had ordered one cappuccino and one Irish coffee. Everything was good and the price was also cheap. Must visit place according to me.

A most recommended place.. A big thumbs up for the taste and quantity both.. A good place for hangout too.. They serve Italian also but we only tried dosa which was so satisfying..

This place is one of the best South Indian food outlets I have found in Kolkata. Others make either a Bengali or a North Indian version of South Indian cuisine. The Chutney stands out. Do try their Podi Mysore Idli and Kaaram Dosa.

I wish they also had full meal options or rice preparations. But, they're still good with what they have brought from Karnataka and Andhra.

For desserts: they have decent Gelato options.

PS: this place is especially great if you don't like #Tamarind restaurant. The Chutney fills the gap.
Sameen Wazi
The Chutney Co. had been such a good experience that I went there twice on two consecutive days for lunch.
Awesome! Delicious! Hot! Fresh! Finger licking good chutneys! I am falling short of words actually.
The vadas were soft and had a crunch, they tasted fresh and were served hot, and i am in love with the sambar served. Hot and yummy! Idlis were soft too and non sticky, unlike the ones served at many places, the particles of which get stuck on the hands, very light and fluffy. And the different kind of chutneys served, coconut, tomato, mango, and a few more, the names of which I cant recall but they tasted really good!!
Arvind Baid
Amazing taste. Would love to revisit soon. Idli, dosa, vada, I am sure you won't miss south of india after being here. Will explore other varieties once I am back here again.

Kolkata has a barrage of joints offering south Indian cuisine, but this joint is probably one the bests I've come across. Both in terms of quality and quantity, coupled with a great sense of hospitality & service.Though the cost of availing the experience is a bit high for the middle (middle) class of our society, but it is definitely worth a try.
Harshvardhan Sureka
The USP of this place is the variety of chutneys served, all being different in taste from others n delicious.. The best place in town to try some south indian fusion dishes like Mysore idli, vada, pondu dosa and many other dosas...
Thumbs down ๐Ÿ‘‡ for the staff service as they are not dedicated to serve better.. Needs big improvement to retain clients..
The Kitchen Love Story
If South Indian cuisine is your favourite then definitely this place is the best to have it. The 9 variety of chutneys which they is worth trying a shot. Dosas are crunchy, the mashed filling inside is amazing, unlike some places where you just hate the filling. Lastly, the sambar was tangy, bit spicy, perfect for our taste bud. ๐Ÿ˜

We would highly recommend everyone to visit this place and try for the sake of chutneys and the quality plus quantity. Worth it.

Never imagined South Indian cuisine would hold such delight and twist in taste until I visited this place.
This is bang opposite the Lalit Great Eastern at Dalhousie. Once you step in,you'd primarily see Piccadilly Square but I suppose this venture is sub branch of Piccadilly Square as the seating arrangement is common for both, and while ordering, you'll be offered the menu cards of both joints.
For beverage we went with Jasmine Green Tea and Iced Tea and for our main course we went straight for Cheese Mushroom Uttapam and this joint's most celebrated Pizza Uttapam.
The latter took a good 20 mins to arrive,as already mentioned beforehand.
And when our order arrived it had a generous bowl of sambar alongside an array of quirky looking tray of 8 different chutneys ! And I kid you not when I say that each chutney was like an experience altogether, exhibiting such a wide variety and range of taste. I personally feel that the Cheese Mushroom Uttapam was far better than the Pizza Uttapam, since the latter did not really live upto its hype.I never expected coriander leaves and tomato slices in a baked item. So it was a big turnoff for me.
Anyway, the ambience was cosy, and the staff was courteous enough.
The Chutney Co. Is located just beside The Lalit Great Eastern and is a very welcoming family restaurant well known for south India food especially for it's variety of chutney.
One can enjoy it's beautiful ambience and it's great food with friends and family.
I visited this place recently and we ordered The mixed sauce pasta ๐Ÿ‘,The arrabiata pasta, Con pesto pizza, masala dosa ๐Ÿ‘ with 6 types of chutney including Chilli coconut, mysori, garlic and many more.
Much recommended ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
The restaurant is located in Dalhousie. Ordered Masala Dosa and Steam Idly. The taste of the food was good. Serves variety of chutneys which were very good.

I quite liked the place! It was nice. It had a nice atmosphere. There were variety of dishes. We ordered for a masala dosa. The masala dosa came with three types of chutneys which was quite a new concept. The taste was okayish. I expected more.
It's for a one time visit.

Had heard about this place very much and finally visited, I liked the soothing and simple decor. It's famous for its South Indian cuisine and so the food which we ordered were :
1.paper masala dosa with masala -it tasted very good and was crispy. It was very filling.
2. Mysore Dosa - it was also good. Quite light.
3.cold coffee- it was normal nothing special.

The variety of chutney served here is good. 7 types of chutney is served along with the dish you order. We started with Vada and Idli. Rawa onion dosa and cheese dosa were nice. Enjoyed the dinner, service is also fast.

I ordered food from The Chutney Co. It took around 75 min to get delivered to my home I was very angry that very much my food took to get delivered but when it was delivered the food taste was so much food that make me to forget my anger

Ordered masala dosa and plain Idli from this place and received hot tasty authentic south indian food impeccably packed in under 30 minutes. With each dish, we were spoilt for choice of chutney- we had to choose 3 chutney each. No wonder they named this place Chutney co. The sambhar was tasty too. Next time we plan to visit the outlet and try out the seating arrangements. The price is a tad higher than your regular south indian outlets but the quality of the food makes up for it.

This place is located opposite to lalit Great Eastern. Even it's at a walking distance from dalhousie square. So I visited this place for there amma's bowl festival. This is basically served in lunch hours that is 2-5pm.
I tried a number of south Indian dishes and I guess the flavours and the taste was too good and this place might make you fall in love with the amazing south Indian dishes. As it happened with me. There flavours and all will rise your taste buds.
I would highly recommend this place for south Indian food lovers as well as to people who wants to try amazing south Indian food without any doubt I guess this is the best place to hop in.
Loved my visit.
Amma's Rice Bowl festival is presently on at The Chutney Co. where they are serving a special rice bowl for each day of the week from 12 pm to 3pm with authentic South Indian Rice, Curry, Poriyal, Sambar and Appalam for just โ‚น250 only. This Rice Bowl festival is on till 15th April, 2019. The taste of various bowls are distinct from each other and it's a one of a kind gastronomic experience which is surely not to be missed!

P.S. Tomato Rice with Gobi-Matar Curry and Cabbage Poriyal was my personal favourite.

The Chutney Co.ย a unit of Piccadilly Square is basically a South Indian restaurant located in BBD Bagย just opposite The Lalit Great Eastern Hotel. The place has created its own identity in a city where every other new cafe seems to be a cut-copy-paste of the old. What sets The Chutney Co. apart from other quality south Indian restaurants in town is its chutneys that will definitely steal your attention. They serve nine different shades of chutney (basic white coconut chutney, tangy raw mango chutney, spicy peanut chutney, curaikkay chutney, spicy green coconut chutney, mysore chutney, coriander chutney, spicy tomato chutney & sweet onion-tomato chutney) and any three are complimentary with your idli, dosa or uttapam. So if youโ€™re dining in twos, thatโ€™s six chutneys to cheer about! Do try the Curaikkay Chutney that will make you wonder what itโ€™s made of. When you hear itโ€™s lauki (bottle gourd), you might acquire new respect for the vegetable so easily shunned at home.๐Ÿ˜‰

This is my favourite places to have South Indian food. I have been there a lot of times and everytime my experience has been good. Recently I tried the Amma's Rice bowl, which is a food festival going on till 15th April. It was like a mini meal enough for one person; authentic South Indian rice with curry, poriyal, Sambhar & Appalam. I tried three of the rice bowl's and it tasted delicious, each quite different from one another.

I also tried the Gunpowder ghee dosa, it was crisy and tasted heavenly with so many varieties of chutney.

The best place to try put some authentic flavours of South India! The Chutney co. surprisingly left me awestruck with such fine quality of food!
The best part about their food is that it is so fresh, with such a good quality of items that were put together to serve us some really delicious dishes!

Loved the 9 types of chutney that they serve with the Gunpowder Dosa, what a bliss to have it!
Also tried out their "Amma's Rice Bowls" , which again surprised me in all possible ways!
Couldn't resist thinking about the food back home!
Truly an amazing place to try out South Indian Food!

Real tasty dosas and more ! The ambience is pretty decent and more importantly the prices dont really pack a punch. Everything is worth what it is.

personally I am not a big fan of south indian
but my dad loves it and considering this place consisted of Piccadilly menu too ( italian) I decided to hop in

We ordered the masala vada
plain idli
Popeye's pick crepe (from the Piccadilly menu)
Oreo donut

We were asked to select 3 varieties of chutney for the masala vada that we ordered and I ended picking tomato, garlic and coconut
masala vada was very crispy, hot and yummy (must try)
idly was soft and moist
Popeye pick crepe was cheesy and yummy as usual
coming to the Oreo donut it was a big disappointment
it was served hot but it was quite dry and even the topping was very less and there was absolutely no filing.
I left a bite to eat after the I would finish the idli and by that time it was completely dry and difficult to chew

The sambhar was just the way I like it (extra tangy)
overall a must visit place
but the desserts are a little pricey and not worth the price I feel

This place has The Chutney Co and Piccadilly Square inside. To start with we order Stem Idli which was served with 7 varieties of Chutney. I am a Chutney person and i enjoyed all of them, especially the Imli chutney. I tried the make your own salad option from Piccadilly and loved it. Portion served was just right for 1 person. My mom ordered plain dosa andย i must say it was delicious and crisp. How can you not have Piccadilly's waffle if you have a chance? So we ended our meal with Waffle with Vanilla Ice Cream and hot chocolate sauce.ย For people like us we can just go there for dinner as morning and lunch its difficult to get parking in Dalhousie.

Had gone to this place with my very good friends.

Location - The place is located right opposite Great eastern and can be easily identified - 4/5 for the location

Ambience - The ambience is decent, furniture is modern and space is well equipped with air conditioners. However it was crowded when I visited on a Wednesday evening, so would give this place a 3.5/5

Food - We ordered podi idly, corn and Mexican crepes, Thin crust verdure pizza and Nutella pancakes.

Podi idly - Coming from south India, I found this tasty, the masala was perfect, idly was soft and ghee was of just the right amount. 5/5 for this.

Chutney- Known for its chutneys - we tried regular coconut chutney, spicy Coconut (green) chutney and sweet onion and tomato chutney. All 3 brought different flavors to the mouth and were amazing. Would try remaining if I choose to go next time. 5/5 for this.

Corn and Mexican crepes - These disappointed me a little but were still edible, it had plain corn and cheese mix on the inside topped with Mexican sauce on the outside. However it wasnโ€™t something Iโ€™d go to specifically eat - 2.5/5 for this

Verdure pizza - We waited for 30 mins for this one. However when the pizza came we really loved it, as the crust was thin and crispy, and vegetables seemed fresh , so 4/5 for this one

Nutella pancakes - these were also a disappointment considering picadelly used to be my favourites during school days. The pancakes were soft, Nutella was weird, it had thick uneven consistency and didnโ€™t go that well with pancakes. Plus I have had way better pancakes in the past across other Cities - so 2/ 5 for this one

Hygiene - The most important factor for me while considering a place. After we got done with the food we saw cockroaches coming out of the tiny spoon storage set - so negative ๐Ÿ‘Ž marks on this point.

Would I visit again? Maybe if I am sure and get to see the kitchen hygiene and cleanliness

PS: Affordability has not been considered as it varies from person to person

Located on the main road of Dalhousie. The food here is very good and service is fast. We ordered Idli and Dosa , the served 6 types of chimneys along with it. Imli chutney was delicious. Enjoyed our meal. They also have Piccadilly square inside, we ate the yummy waffle with ice cream and chocolate sauce.

This place is a paradise for us south Indian food cravers. Their varieties in chutneys and taste of dosa and sambhar brings with it the essence of the South. Visited last week with my friend and we ordered cheese Mysore masala dosa and it was delicious. Also the show stopper was pizza uthappam. New and innovative it was. We were served with 7 different chutneys and one sambhar. All tasted different and unique. Also, the outlet has Piccardly square who served with waffles and brownies which gave a perfect end to the evening. Vl visit soon. ๐Ÿ˜

Had discovered them on Zomato delivery and had ordered for Mysore idly/Ghee masala dosa and a paper cheese dosa. What got delivered was a paper dosa with almost no cheese,a ghee masala dosa with no masala in it but only onions inside and the Mysore idly didn't even make it with the orders. What came insted was this horrendous version of upma..red in colour and spicy,i've never had upma like that ever.

Didn't really expect much of this place before going there. But once we ordered the food, I was really surprised. The food, service both were really really good! The food was so good and the different type of chutneys they had to offer. Don't forget to order the pappad at the end of the meal! Would definitely come back to this place!

There's Piccadilly square counter inside the restaurant.
We ordered Aglio Olio Olio and blue berry pancakes from the Piccadilly square's menu and masala dosa and idli from the restaurant's menu.

AGLIO OLIO OLIO - I was really excited to try this one out but It didn't taste soooo amazing, it didn't match my expectations.
Pocket pinch- rs 275

BLUEBERRY BLAST PANCAKES - This thing is my most favorite and it's a must try loved loved loved it ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜. I'll rate it a 5/5.
Pocket pinch-rs 180

MASALA DOSA- The taste was good. It came with 10 different chutney because obviously the name of the restaurant itself says that all.
Pocket pinch- rs 140

IDLY- It was soft and tasted yummy.
Pocket pinch- rs 85

The chutey included Tamato,Lassan, Nariyal, peanuts chutneys and etc.. All of them tasted different, it was my first time that I tried so many flavours in chutney.

Overall a nice experience ๐Ÿ˜.

Must Visit.
Your Go-to place for satisfying your south indian cravings. They serve different kinds of chutney, and so is the name derived from here. Some of the chutneys include garlic chutney, red chilli chutney, tomato chutney, and so on. Naming them on the basis of its taste :D
A must visit once atleast when in Kolkata.
Evenings and nights are usually busy, since it shares its space with The Piccadily Square.
Food: 4/5
Ambience: 3/5
Service 4/5
The Chutney Co. is located in Dalhousie area, and is adjacent to the Great Eastern Electronics outlet. The outlet is on the first floor. I had heard that the place was good for the variety and quality of dosas served. That was indeed true. You also simply cant miss the number of chutneys served with the meals. So, if you are a south Indian food lover, this place has to be on your bucket lists!

I have always been disappointed with veg food in Kolkata, until today. Thanks to Google map for suggesting this page. Amazing food, cool ambience, super service, polite staff. A little difficult to find as this is located on 1st floor opposite The Lalit Great Eastern. Must visit for South Indian food.

I absolutely love the South Indian food here. I usually come here for idli's and I have tried all of 'em- plain idli's to butter idli, mysore idli to molgapodi. I am also fond of the masala vada and the best part is their 'chutneys', as per their name. I have had all the chutneys as well and my I like all of 'em some of which are-beetroot chutney, spicy tomato chutney, coriander chutney, myself chutney, peanut chutney and not to miss the coriander chutney. The place is joined with Piccadilly so you can have desserts as well as Italian along with South Indian cuisine.

A South Indian food lover can't miss this place. It is famous for the variety of chutney this joint serves as the name already suggests. Almost serving ten variety.Do not miss the maysore mulgaipodi idli.its too good.be sure to share it as it's quite big. You even get some stuff in foundue style it can be tried too. The vada is bit smaller in size then elsewhere.last but not the least do not miss the upma it is too good and freshly made. Try a visit you will not be disappointed.Happy eating ๐Ÿ›

It's a must go place for South Indian food lovers. The rates are not very expensive but the taste is amazing. All the South Indian dishes are served with an array of chutneys, which are completely authentic in taste.
We had
1. Masala dosa Rs. 140/-
2. Sambar Vara Rs. 130/-
Mysore dosa is a must try.
Based on some good word of the mouth, we decided to visit this place and were awestruck by the experience!

This restaurant is situated in Dalhousie, nearby Lalit, The Great Eastern โ€“ size of the place is huge, also ambience is great! They sell variety south Indian dishes โ€“ they are in my opinion, the dosa kings of Kolkata โ€“ any dosa you name it, they serve it!

But, the actual USP of this place is the 9 varieties of chutney they serve โ€“ that too, unlimited quantities โ€“ each being better than the other! They do apt justice to their name โ€“ The Chutney Co. โ€“ by serving 9 varied and mouth-watering chutneys!

Ordered their Guntur Karam Dosa, Rava masala dosa, Idli, vada, Upma and the novelty - uttapam pizza! All items are pretty tasty, innovative, unique and off-beat!

Service is great and staff make you feel at home, they serve you with a big smile on their faces!

Food presentation is great too โ€“ also, quantity as well as quality is fine!

Only drawback to multiple visits to this place is they very high prices, otherwise no reservations!

Keep up the good work team!

Great place to have South Indian food. This place was in my wishlist. The mysore dosa and masala dosa came with 8 types of chutney.. 2 of the chutney was lipsmacking. Though a bit expensive .
I would surely like to visit this place again to try the dessert section.

This outlet is a paradise for South Indian Food Lovers. They have a vast menu to choose from and the food is just fantastic . We ordered a Cheese Masala Onion Dosa which came with an array of chutneys . The colourful chutney platter made my day . The Rawa dosa and Onion Uttapam were good too . Had the cappuccino to finish things off .
The service is mention worthy

The only reason I am giving this place a 4 , and not a 5 , is because of the pocket pinch . The place is expensive and will burn a hole in your pocket ..can u imagine a cup of cappuccino costs Rs.190 approx including taxes .

Though I would definitely recommend this place :)

One of the best places in Kolkata if youโ€™re a south indian lover. The deserts here are tasty too. Come try them. The waffles are yummy too. The varieties of chutneys will lure to eat more.

Just above Great Eastern electronics store.

This is a fusion of famous Piccadilly square with the south indian chain chutney co.

Both the cuisines are delicious.

The service is prompt with simple decor. However, the tables arent cleaned after service. One of the best South Indian food in town. The ambience of the place is soothing as well. The Cheese Paper Dosa is now an all time favourite

Nice place to have south indian delicacies, good ambience, little confusing to understand that Piccadilly Square is also at the same place selling cakes and pastries together. Ordered Ulli Pakodi and Dhania Cheese Dosa, awesome taste, little costly, but ok. Last but not the least chutney are really worth mentioning.

A must visit place if you love South Indian food. This might not be the best South Indian food that you will have but being served so many chutneys with the food is definitely an experience you won't get easily at other places.....also the chutneys are beyond amazing....each one! Also the fact that this outlet is a combination of The Chutney Co & Piccadilly square provides too many options to eat!

One of the worst service I had ever experienced. Price are too high and for Pasta you have to pay separately for vegetables. This company is formed to charge Rs. 350 for Raw Pasta and sauces. Only good thing about this company is that they never compromise with the food quality and taste. Hope management of the company will take care of this in future and shall not charge for vegetables in Pasta just like Pizza.

We ordered food that didn't come for 45 mins and when we enquired about our order the staff replied a mistake has happened with our order (inspite of this they didn't bother to reply,we had to ask ourselves),even then the order didn't come for another 15 mins.
Have been wanting to visit this place for sometime now. Finally convince my friend and had a gastronomic delight here a few weeks back.

Located : right opposite to the Lalit Great Eastern Hotel. They share the same unit with Picadilly Square. It's quite a blink and miss location, must say.

Ordered:
* A ghee idli
* A molgapodi dosa that comes with gun powder
* A filter coffee
* A walnut brownie
* A Ferrero rocher brownie.

Loved each of these, except for the fact that the I didn't quite like the gun powder that they make it here. However it's wroth mentioning that they serve 6 varieties of Chutney with all the dishes and they are yum, specially the garlic one.

A must visit for the south indian cuisine lovers.

The highlight of the place is the 9-10 types of chutneys that they provide(3 with one item) is ultimate and awsome. The food and the ambiance is really good and to end your meal you will definitely like their filter coffee very much...

If you must know about two contradicting cuisines in pictures, it's because The Chutney Co and Piccadilly square happen to be on the same floor co-exosting. Having tried places like Banana leaf and more, I had not high expectations from any other place, yet the place wooed me. First up their service is something to talk about, the ambience is pretty good too and the food definitely did so well.
Orderd mysore masala dosa for myself with 3 other chutneys among many they have option for which is of no extra cost.
Right from the first bite I got extremely excited from what will come next with so many chutneys to mix and match.
The dosa was soft and crisp at the right places, with mysore masala spicy as it gets. It had tastes of multiple levels thanks to its chutneys.

Blueberry blast pancake, what better dessert than this?
Pancake were hot, covered with fresh blueberries and sauce. Soft, sumtopus and metling in your mouth.

Final review - HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Had breakfast today morning with family. The food is just too Good. The guntur Dosa was just unique and had never eaten anywhere. The 10 types of chutney were simply unique and each and every one tasted fabulous. The last was the Mumbai Style sandwich with crapes and the ultimate Filter coffee. Really a good experience.

The ambience of the place is quite good. It's family restaurant and is kids friendly. As regards the food,it is definitely very good and satisfying. Their masala dosa is really tasty. Special mention to the desserts such as blueberry cheesecake and ferrero rocher brownie. In all it is a good place to have a nice meal in moderate pricing.

Presentation, ambience and decor was pretty good.
The food sucked. Specially the Sambhar. It felt like a bowl of hot tamarind water, and completely lacked flavor. By far the worst sambhar i have ever had.
You do get a choice of various chutneys, that kinda saves the day. Never visiting again!
Sakshi Agarwal
This is my absolute favourite place when it comes to South Indian. I just canโ€™t stop myself going there over and over again. Their dosas, idly, sambhar , chutneys (as the name suggests) are all amazing. They have 7 types of chutneys available. Service is good too. Reasonably priced.
Also, it shares the same place with Piccadilly square so you have good deserts option too for all the sweet tooth persons like me. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Well it is cozy place near dalhousie! The ambience is average nothing much to talk about! But their food is really good and up to the mark! A must visit place!

Coming from Chennai, it is always very tough for me to appreciate South Indian food outside south of India. Visiting The Chutney Co. did not favour in addressing this predicament of mine.

To begin with, let me list down the positives. This restaurant is easily locatable and is situated at a walking distance from the Calcutta High Court. The ambience is good and the waiters are courteous. Being my first visit, i will stop with my positives here.

Coming to the improvements, quite a bit to write. In my opinion, the best way to judge a South Indian food is for the sambhar to pass the test of viscosity. The watery sambhar failed this test today. The Pondu (garlic) dosa waa good but too crispy to my liking. The chutneys were good. The filter coffee at the end of the meal was satisfactory.

On the service part, I felt it was too slow considering that the restaurant was not even crowded. 15 minutes to get a coffee was to slow by any standards. A faster turnaround time would have been better.

Overall rating of 3/5 for the experience. Food needs improvement. Definitely worth another visit next time.
