Review Whatsup Cafe - Kolkata (Calcutta)

Food is good. Very tempting. Loved it. Service is a little slow, maybe the passage is the reason. But, considerable. The atmosphere is lively I must say, but... Too much crowdy, and loud music can be avoided as people loves to dine-in with sober calm musics. Rest, highly recommended. Our order - Vodka based cocktail - 1 Budweiser Pint - Meat lover's pizza - Sizzler Brownie

Nice place with great vibes and an awesome view of the City of Joy from the top. The staff is friendly and helpful. The menu is quite elaborate. We tried Grilled Chicken and Fish platter, Grilled Fish with lemon butter sauce, some draught beer and Cosmopolitan. The portions of everything are satisfying. The taste was quite good but not mind blowing. Hope to visit again and try other dishes.

The cafe is serving hot and delicious and fresh food to the customers. The quantity and quality of the food is really good. The ambience of the cafe is pretty awesome. The behaviour of the staffs is polite and good. They also have a pretty good veg menu options for vegetarians and non-veg menu options for non vegetarians. The cafe is family friendly as well as kid friendly. Also one can go there with friends.

Liked their kebab and fish items.. Hard/soft drinks and beverages are a little bit expensive .. I'm really satisfied with their live music.. Love to be there once again for the amazing musical ambience.

One of the must try fabulous Cafe of Kolkata! The reason I am giving five star out of five star, is that I have spent a lot of money on food in many restaurants and cafes but never had an amazing experience like this one. The food and ambience are worth of your money . Four per person you have to spend ₹1000 to ₹1200 (included with one drink and one food item) . This cafe lets you take photos with camera, they won’t bother you at all, like how other cafes stops you or warns you with your camera. You can see it and chat for long time and also this is a cafe for family and friends and couples right now this cafe is also in France. And they provide the food quantity in a huge amount which will make your stomach full. The rooftop is amazing and also there is a corner place where you can sit by putting your legs underwater. On the rooftop ,you can smoke ,you can have hookah and drinks… • A funny moment to discuss, if you give them tips, they will return it. To them that’s not needful to do.,, just bring more people and will ask you to visit again and again… and they will be happier. I went to visit rooftop cafe - whatsapp cafe for lunch with my husbend there was a beautiful place and unbelievable stuffs excilent behaviour thank you all of you making our day special i have never ever forgotten that place thank you ❤️

Had a great experience! The best part I love about What's Up Cafe is their open seating areas. And they usually have a small band playing on weekends. There are 2 tables where you can dip your feet in water and enjoy your time. That's kinda nice too. The food is decent enough. Parking is definitely an issue. You can no longer park on the main street. The view of Kolkata from the cafe is really good and something to cherish. The place is well decorated and the ambience is quite good. If you're not early to the place, you might just have to wait in queue for some time as the place gets filled up pretty fast on a weekend.

Service and food was nice.... The seasonal juice was refreshing..Try to go in the evening time to enjoy the amazing rooftop ambience.

me n wify had an awesome time, couldn't sit at d roof top bcoz it was pretty hot outside, got an cozy table....ed sheeran was singing shape of u [in TV :-) ] a fav ambiance was created, foods were also awesome n mouth watering n d quntity also was huge, we are again planing to go with friends, bt this time under d sky at d evening.. :-D

I visit for first tyme n it was great experience. Inside environment is soo nice and it was perfect place for candle light dinner. Off course also with live band. Food serving quite nic they also suggest u by ur requirements and the food was really yummy.. I had really like to go 2nd tym.

This is the one of the finest and a bit expensive cafe and restaurant which has open upstairs give the most amazing views and as it's in southern Avenue so this prices are bit High but can be affordable once we go withe group

visited there on a Sunday afternoon, it was a hot and humid day, we were seated on the rooftop floor where the temperature was very uncomfortable, ACs were not sufficient and staff were nonchalant even after repeated requests.

Chicken Roulade was best for mocktail you can try Green Island. I felt food is overpriced it can't be 800 for two anyway. Service was courteous they take your feedback seriously and replace the food if you find it bland.

Food and ambience were good. We got seated in the hookah lounge on top. Service was very slow. Even hookah and drinks took a lot of time and we had to do several follow ups. Moreover they had this weird policy of no pictures without any explanation. Selfies were not allowed. Even waiters refused to take our own pictures with the food. This was a major putoff.

Place is nice. Outdoor sitting area is my favourite. A nice place to hungout with friends. Drinks are good but the food is not upto the mark. I ordered a sandwich platter and the bread was really hard and dry. So I would say don't go there for food just go there for a different experience and good time!!

Beer and drinks price was very high...a pint of beer costs 350 bucks and a 30ml of Vat 69 costs 330...chicken crispy wings was good in taste but the price??4 pcs will cost you 400...hookah was expensive too...750 bucks for a single refill...ambience was super...otherwise its super expensive...

Everything was perfect apart from the fact that they charge ₹245 for a cup of Darjeeling tea which is atrociously exorbitant. That too normal tea bag. Had it been 1st flush, I would have still considered. At that price one can have Makaibari tea which is way superior in terms of quality. In the name of service, I felt the price of a cup of tea was a pinch. 😢<br/><br/><br/>Not expected!!

i just love what's up cafe! the way whole setup and decorations are done is awesome. the funky dooling on wall in entrance are very attractive. after entering in the sitting area you will be surprised by the cozy ambiance which is very beautifully decorated but this is not the end <br/>there is a roof top which is perfect for a date or candle light dinner with your partner along with live band, when you will go on roof the roof top sitting arrangements in cluster form is awesome and the most surprising part is they have a jacuzzi on the top. the view is awesome from there as you have rabindra sarovar lake just in front. <br/>now comming to the foods,<br/>the foods served by them are really very tasty and delicious, if you are continental lover then surely you will love it. .. having food along with great ambiance is really awesome feeling. .. <br/>the pricing are little bit higher but they used to give offers also so you can check before visiting but the service, food and ambiance is worthy...

On my cousin's suggestion for a cozy & private hangout place, me and my friend went to this restaurant for a weekend dinner. The ambience looked pretty pepped up from a distance; however it got extremely loud once we were inside on our table. They do offer a wide variety of foods and drinks to choose from, although quite steeply priced. Browsing through their menu, we decided to stick to a large pizza with some familiar cocktails to go with it. However, it was very disappointing to find that the person who was in charge of taking our order wasn't trained enough to differentiate between the basic alcohol types! After some weird discussions, we were finally able to place the order. Quality wise, the pizza was decent and so were the drinks.<br/><br/>Overall, I'd say "What's Up" is an over-hyped joint; for the same spend, there are plenty of other options to go and have a great meal.

I just love What's up! cafe. The way the whole setup is been decorated is just awesome. When you will just enter the cafe through the stairs you will come across to very cool funky doodling on the wall. Then you will enter the indoor sitting area which is very beautifully decorated. Then comes the rooftop of sitting area along a jacuzzi which is a very cool thing about What's up cafe. The view is great from there as you have Rabindra sarovar Lake just in front. As it was a rainy day we were unable to sit in the open rooftop area (our bad luck😅). Now Coming to the food , the food served was tasty and delicious. According to me, their continental cuisine is best. Having food along with that ambiance enhance the experience to a greater extent. Overall I had a great experience.

So after the lockdown ended thought to go to a good cafe so came across this cafe . Heard alot about this cafe from everyone. So me and my friends to a look at the menu there was wide variety of dishes available. <br/>First we ordered <br/>1. Virgin mojito<br/>2.cold coffee<br/>3. Blue lagoon <br/>So virgin mojito was nothing extraordinary it tasted the way it should <br/>2. Cold coffee was quite good<br/>3. Blue lagoon was not at all good In taste I don't know what did they add to it it tasted very weird .<br/>Then we came to the main coarse . So we decided to order crispy chilli paneer , veg fried rice and chicken sizzler.<br/>So coming to the food the chicken sizzler was excellent in taste I really loved it. <br/>The fried rice was simple not so good .<br/>Crispy chilli paneer was quite crispy and tasted nice .<br/>We thought of ordering hookah but due to corona it was not available and drinks too .<br/>Overall a good experience. We will visit this place again .

Great place, been there twice. The food or drinks did not disapoint me though they should have more non alcoholic drink options. The continental food options and cocktails are very good. The USP is the rooftop which people often try to sit in unless its a hot day. If it is a hot day like I went, the rooftop room must ensure the ac works properly as it was not working the afternoon we went in March. Other than that, the rooftop views are great and overall, I highly recommend this place

This cafe really surprised me with its ambience. As you enter you wonder why is the place so hyped and then when we went out on the rooftop i was taken aback with its surroundings and the top floors which were all part of the cafe. Very beautifully done and it looked amazing in the evening. We were there from 4pm and we saw the change from daylight to late evening. The place just lights up and throws a classy set up. The staffs to the crowd everything was bang on. I just wished the singer was better because his songs were noisy & not soothing. I think he had a bad throat which was evident from his performance . <br/><br/>Now coming to the food. We ordered margharita pizza(thin crust),chicken sizzler, reshmi kebab and few yummy mocktails. Food was great but the sizzler could have been better. It had like 1 bean , 2 corn slice, 3 cauliflower & carrot cut into big random size. Looked odd and veggies should have been more sufficient and the chicken was dont into patty and served. Price is high but ambience is worth every penny. We throughly enjoyed our ladies outing there.

There is no dearth of rooftop restaurants in Kolkata nowadays.And frankly it has no vertical advantage with its competitors like Blue and Beyond or Capella or Ozora.But unlike the bird’s eye view of the concrete forest it provides the soothing sight of the lush greenery and water body of the Rabindra Sarobar.There lies its uniqueness.But that’s just the beginning.After being welcomed by the courteous staffs you will be surprised by the menu.A single place providing drinks,sheesha,cocktails,mocktails,Indian,Italian,Chinese,continental,even loochi...I mean how do they manage?All the dishes we have ordered were lovely.Service was also prompt.There is a place meant for live music and every evening they have a jam session.We chose to sit at the edge of the floor which is hanging and the ground is visible down there below our feet.You can roll up your trousers and sit at the tiny pool table also.They have indoor sitting and an attic seating which can be reached by a separate lift.Tables are sort of crammed but never mind.Sit under the sky and enjoy the breeze over lip smacking food.Overall a cool place that scored with its quality and hospitality.A big thumbs up!

Staff members were impolite , they would not listen to your order properly. Ambience is good . Mutton served in the platter was uncooked , instead of grilled mushrooms , they served sauted mushrooms . Also they have the same kind of base gravy ( cream based) for the Indian dishes.

Went there on 9th September 2020 evening <br/>Ambience is superb situated on 6th floor with a view of open greenery and tall buildings <br/>Food I had Rashmi kebabs which was very well cooked server with tarter sauce <br/>Dry chilly fish with big piece of properly fried crispy coating outside served with veggies along it <br/>Bucket of beer 4+1 offer <br/>Total bill was 2459<br/>The best part was the service and staff and even on request they dnt take tips and r grt in service <br/>Properly thermal check done and cutlery tissue box and all other things were served covered and packed <br/>The lighting and and sitting place is Grt hookah section inside separately done and yes u will notice sides flooring is done with glass so u r siting and standing at transparent flooring that's amazing feel<br/>

Ambience is nice. Staff is very polite and courteous. Overall food was very tasty, the meat lovers pizza is a must try. And also had one of the best LIITs in town.

Tried this place for the first time before lockdown and I wasn't disappointed at all. The place might be a bit costly but the quantity and taste they provide is just amazing. You can have a full course meal for two at Rs 1000-1200. Do ask for the chef's recommendation, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Last but not the least, the rooftop ambience adds on to the merit of this place.

The food but it was pretty average but sadly the service was below average. The staff was not forthcoming. The portions were more sufficient. But over-all it was a poor experience. Expected better service .

There was an offer in Whatsup cafe southern avenue that one can redeem Rs 500 with each Xavotsav 2020 pass. The offer was valid till 28th feb 2020. My friends and I had planned to go on 28th. Suddenly we came to know on 27th that the offer wont be applicable on 28th .27th is the last day. So we called the cafe and they said to call after an hour as they have some confusion. After an hour , they told that the offer would be valid on 28th. We even texted them in messanger and they replied at around 12.37 pm on 28th feb that the offer is valid on 28th feb . But when we went there at around 3.30 pm they showed us a notice that they wont be allowing any more passes as they had already allowed more than 1000 passes by 27th feb or something. When we asked their staff that why did they tell us that it would be applicable on 28th when they knew it wouldn't be they just said they are sorry. We dont know what their conditions were with the college . What we found bad is that why did their staff give us wrong information over the phone and messanger till 28th afternoon?? Its really not acceptable. So next time you get an offer from this cafe be completely sure about its validity and better not trust their staff over phone and messanger!

This place known as kolkata's famous jacuzzi cafe, it's a sky lounge cafe and from that top you feel like you are in heaven with the proper ambience. It's also had a bar which was equally decorated and served liquors in a reasonable price. Although the place was highly expensive but for that experience you should come this place atleast once. <br/><br/>Ambience- I went there on Valentine's day so as usual the place was quite busy but the staffs were very kind and courteous. They properly take care of us. The sitting arrangement was almost for 140 people's. <br/><br/>Interior- The interior itself was a masterpiece. Several band pics and unique decoar were drawing on the wall in a very unique style. The cafe had indoor and outdoor sitting arrangement and at outdoor it also had a floor. Also it had a sit while you could enjoy bubble foot massage with enjoying your food. <br/>Allover this place was quite romantic and beautiful.<br/><br/>Service- Nothing to say about the staffs behavior, they were so polite and helpful and very courteous. It's originated from France. I first time try this item and also heard about it first time. And it's tasted really delicious. The outer layer was so crunchy and inner layer was soft and filled with soft chicken and it served with pesto sauce which elevated it's tasted even more. And it's cost INR 480.<br/><br/>||Whats Up Desi Nonveg Pizza||- It's one of their signature dish. And it's cost INR 650. It's a different kind of pizza and I personally just impressed for the look and taste of it. I didn't tasted such innovative pizza ever in my life. The pizza had 4 pieces of roll type something which staffed with tandoori chicken which was lipsmackinnly delicious with some veggies and it served with salad which presented in a very eye catchy way. The salad was made with latuce, black olives, cherry tomatoes and it mixed with mayo sauce. The food was extremely overpriced. They charged ₹875 for a plate of fish and chips, which is not justified in any way. Unfortunate.
