Review The Whistling Kettle - Kolkata (Calcutta)

Shourjya Dasgupta
Took a quick stop here for a cup of tea - recommend by my brother. This place is a cozy one - not very prominent from the street outside. The ambience looked nice although it was empty at this time of the day. Music was great - in fact most of my fav music were playing in the background. There is a space for open mic as well. I will be back here for more later on and update this review.

The tastes were average. After that ordered some snacks... Overall average in taste.....but nice place for a cool hangout. Pricing of listed food items are also average n affordable.....

Brilliant place with great food, occasional live music performances, and a great interior decor. The different kettles will definitely attract your attention as well as the photos adorning the walls inside. A cool and hip new place in Kolkata to hang out with buddies and close ones.

Really loved this place. We went for the breakfast and it was totally upto our expectations. Best thing I liked there was mushroom sandwiches. Lemon honey tea was also good. Ambience is really cool and staff behaviour is also friendly. Totally worth it giving it a visit.

One of my most favorite tea cafe in the country! You walk in to a beautifully decorated, small Cafe and get floored by everything there. Needless to say, tea is of top quality. We ordered white tea, double flush and hot lemon tea. We also ordered the roasted garlic cheese sandwich and margherita pizza. Both of these were so delicious that the taste still lingers in my palate. The price is quite reasonable too.

It's a gem!! Cozy, comfy, amazing food, excellent staff.. And the tea!! My, my.. They serve the best quality Nathmull's tea. Went there with family, had a wonderful time. Just too good a place. Must try!!

A refreshing, innovative change from usual chain Cafes in Kolkata. Beautiful decor and concept. Good location. Tea lover's paradise along with tasty treats or full meal with a variety of teas. Not easy on pocket, but the teas are worth it. A must visit for 'Adda' and 'cha' loving bangali.

Wished to visit this place as this place always gives us the flavour of Darjeeling, both by serving and selling the famous tea of Nathmull's as well as by serving almost the same English breakfast platter that one can get in Keventer's Darjeeling; Here whole day the breakfast platter is available but the price is too high for the quantity they serve in the plates.. Taste of food is good, quality is maintained; Shakes and smoothies i found here better than the solid foods

This place is situated opposite Cafe Coffee Day in Golpark. It opens to a small room selling tea and decorative kettles. Another door leads to the dining area, which is dimly lit giving it a cosy vibe. We ordered Lasagna al Ferno with Chicken(₹345), which arrived in about 10 minutes, the smell being almost tempting enough to not click photos and delve right in. It was served with a piece of garlic bread on the corner. The cheese had a sheet of pasta underneath, and further down was the minced chicken, satisfying both cravings of cheese and chicken. The taste was slightly bland, but I guess that's what authenticity tastes like to the Bengali tongue. Added a lot of pepper and salt, and it was perfect. The dining area was well decorated, except the hideous image of some weeds at the back. A+ staff, they actually wait at their end and look over the customers to see if anyone needs attention. Will be returning, hopefully very soon.

Ok. I'm in LOVE with this place, period. I'm just surprised it took us so long to tick this place off the bucket-list. It almost felt like walking into TARDIS today, as the quaint glass door entrance opened up to a corridor of silent kettles and then a spacious eating zone with a guitar to the left! With enough space between the tables for the (apparently) under staffed, yet highly efficient team to run around with your orders, which reach the table pretty quick even with a full house. The sober decor and the ambiance music with the perfect volume invites you for AN EXPERIENCE WORTH ABSORBING. We had tried: 1. Chicken Jumbo Sandwich (House Special) - 4⭐️ [ITS HUGE! We would have preferred a little more varied taste out of it though; probably some potato wafers to go with it. But, a belly-filler, hands down] 2. Bacon and Sunny Side Up - 5⭐️ [Ok, this set the standards. The egg was two, not one, and its not mentioned in the menu, so that was a pleasant surprise. And then the bacon...just hit the spot. Not too burnt, neither too raw, perfectly cooked, and without being scalding salty. A delight to recall the first bite even while I'm traveling back home now.] 3. Vietnamese Coffee - 3.5⭐️ [So, it was milk coffee with sugar, on the rocks. My bad, should have asked for the specifications before ordering it. Well made, but I'm a no milk no sugar dark to the core espresso drinker.] If you're a tea drinker, I've been told this is the place. If you're a bacon lover, I'm telling you, this is the place. And all this topped with a smiling team; their smiling faces almost makes you feel that they are happy to see you there. They are professional, yet still not being a a bunch of order-noting robots. A rock solid 5⭐️ for The Whistling Kettle (and a few whistles for the kettles they have on display). A DEFINITE REPEAT VISIT place.

The Whistling Kettle is a famous breakfast joint in South Kolkata near Golpark. It opens at 09 00 hours in the morning and closes at 22 00 hours. The foods are satisfactory and tea is awesome. They offer different varieties of tea including herbal tea.
Ankita Roy
An amazing place with wonderful jazz music and live singing areana. Tea is good. Some food are not worth the price. Its famous for tea. If you are a tea lover do visit the place.

So we went for an outing few months ago and we choose this restaurant to have something to fill our tummy. From the outside the appearance was appealing so we decided to go inside to look for the variety of choice this restaurant was offering. With our surprise we found that this restaurant has a lot of items in the menu, then we ordered pork sausage bacon ham salami and egg. This is actually a breakfast, now you can say why so heavy breakfast? That's because this breakfast is very popular in Darjeeling where people loves to take heavy breakfast in the cold morning to cope up with the cold. Sausages were soft filled with meat, beacon was shallow fried with pepper, salt etc. but it was soft too perfectly cooked that can be easily torn apart with fork and spoon. Egg was half boiled so it becomes easier to dip the meat with the juicy yolk. It was very tasty, we would love to try that once again. Not so spice dominant rather perfectly balanced. Overall ambience of the restaurant was quite and nice and we liked it. Interior decoration was just amazing, you would feel like sitting at Darjeeling. We wish to visit there once again and would like to try more item's ❤️❤️

Good ambience. A nice cafe with a musical stage open to all...with a couple of guitars and mic and high chairs for an impromptu music session for all to enjoy.

It was amazing!! Both the coffee and blueberry cheesecake were as good as I was expecting it to be! Would definitely visit again to try their snacks and dishes! Ambiance, sitting area and decorations all were beautiful~ ❤️

The food : Pork Platter - nothing great. Macazzo 's pork platter tastes far far better. Lamb Lasagne was still ok. The pork jumbo sandwich - completely tasteless. A homemade sandwich tastes better than that. Never been to any café with such horrible hospitality before. We ordered for a small tea pot (for two) Nathmulls exotic tea and asked for an extra empty cup so that 3of us can share, since none of us wanted to have a big cupful of tea. They denied us the empty cup saying it's not their company policy. So if you want to taste & share it between more than two person, please carry a cup with you. & the tea is really not that great in taste for a Rs. 300/- (for two cups). Abar Baithak 's tea tastes way better and really pocket friendly. Serving regular water is a norm for every restaurant in India. But very conveniently they explained that they have a water issue in the building, so they can only serve you a 500ml himalaya packaged drinking water. I think a restaurant of 4.1zomato rating can actually buy a 20litre water jar if it faces any such difficulties. Or keep lesser priced packaged drinking water. They are just exploiting the name of Keventers & the Glenary's. Our evening got spoilt.

You enter the place from blazing sunshine to pure bliss! The downside? Wasn't offered a glass of water. We waited, parched & eventually decided to approach a server for water. The water came half a glass and warm... Nonetheless, the margherita pizza ordered was great. Downside? The basil on it was nominal. Although it's a famous place for tea but we ordered two milk shakes which were decent. The walls are adorned with quirky quotes and soulful pictures which add a flavor to an otherwise cramped place.

The first thing that caught out attention was the classy decor..It is certainly very unique and different from other cafes..A quite small place but decorated tastefully....Now the food....The mushroom cheese sandwich was my favourite from the eve and the cold coffee was also good..other dishes were rather ordinary (mango shake..corn sandwich...chocolate shake)...The place is neither too expensive nor too pocket friendly..... But a must visit for the decor...My personal opinion is they should give more attention to the presentation of their food.

I had the heart of giving a 4 star but I am refraining from doing so because of the poor service. We were served chicken platter without any spoon or fork and had to repeatedly ask for it. More so it was after a good 15 minutes we were provided with forks. The same thing was repeated when we asked for a glass of water. I guess it took sometime for the man in waiting to register that we were really thirsty. Other than this owner or so he seemed was really warm and had an ever smiling face. The nutella pancake was wholesome and we were immediately teleported to heaven. Ambience was nice and so was the decor. Oh they also play Dylan and Cohen on request. A bit pricey but worth a try. Service can improve a great deal though.

The best kiwi shake i had in town..the awesome ambience..the wooden ceiling..a piece of darjeeling in kolkata and live music by sailesh sarda is an added achievement..will return for the viatnamese coffee and chicken lasagne which I could not taste because I was too full with the chicken supremo pizza which is a must eat here..great going guys :)

Love this place !! The staff is really very friendly and they give great suggestions ... Besides, the food is really awesome . I love the tea here and the "coffee on the rocks" is worth dying for <3

A place I would like to go back. The food, service, ambience, classics being played at a low key (not loud like most such places), and above all the infotmal surroudings make theplace worth visiting every now and then. Whistling Kettle has a class of his own.
Laboni Chatterjee
They have a delightful selection of tea, brewed with perfection. For someone who likes tea, this place is a must visit. Been there on two or three occasions, enjoyed the pork sausages and the pizza. Dainty nook by an otherwise bustling street. P.S: I totally dig the vanilla milkshake! But, sometimes the waiting period can get a lil annoying.
Rapden Dorji Sherpa
Cosy place where hill meets Kolkatta, Darjeeling tea at its best with awesome food at a reasonable price

Located near golpark , this cafe has a cozy and inviting ambience. A great place to just hang around with friends or have a lovely gathering with your dear ones over a refreshing cup of tea or chilled coffee. The food is good too.
Rajnandinee Dev Biswas Mohanta
The food was good. However the service is very slow. They are reluctant to serve water till you are are shouting for water!!! The sausage, ham, bacon were over cooked and hence tough. The mushroom sandwich, pancake with honey, pepperoni pizza was good.
Reshmi Dani
This place has one of the most unprofessional service in town. We were made to wait more than fifty minutes for just three sandwiches and the people serving seemed least bothered to take the orders or follow up on the already placed order. And the food or the ambience wasn't even worth all the hassle. Definitely not going back.
Tanusree Paul
One of the finest places. Worth going back again and again. We only had complains with the loud music that was being played. Pls take care of this.

We ordered honey pancake with two cups of herbal mint tea .... love the flavour..... yummy mouthwatering honey pancake... and the smell of herbal tea..... love the environment.... love this place

Oh, it was like sitting in old Darj! Haven't been back in years so I just loved the feel of nostalgia... The milky coffee was a bit strong ....but the cheese, garlic toast was yummy! The pork choices look wonderful too and have resolved to try it when I go again... Dainty teapots for sale...and the ambience is old world especially the black and white photographs... Service was done with a smile and a warmth that is fast disappearing elsewhere... All in all a place to return to time and again....

Excellent quality of tea and food. A bit overpriced though.
Sukanya Guha Roy
A perfect place for tea lovers with lip smacking food.

Well... ambience is really good but what i liked is the food. I have had beacon and sausage and both were delicious. Crisp beacon and juicy sausages and last but not the least tea. Just loved the flavour. Def will visit some other time.

It's fabulous place to be in. I thoroughly enjoyed it

The ambience and the selection of teas are what will draw you here. The snacks will make you stay longer. However, it is the service that might need a bit of bucking up. In our case we had to wait inordinately long for our grilled sandwich. I think they had forgotten about it. That said, yes, I would recommend The Whistling Kettle to my friends. Do come, packed in your car or by public transport, but not in a motorcade. The street is narrow like a pathway in a tea garden.

A small cafe located at Golpark. I went here as the reviews were good. But unfortunately, this turned out to be not so great. The price was on the higher side as compared to the quantity. The taste of the food was not great specially those sausage and salami. It was not expected. But anyhow, i liked the crunchy cookie shake. Rate- 3.9/5.
The shake was crunchy, chocolaty but could have been better. The decor was decent. The staffs were well-behaved. The service was good.
Saheli Mridha
Ordered pork platters and chicken sandwich. The pork platters consisted of pork sausages, pork salami, bacon and double eggs sunny side up. The salami and sausages were nice and the bacon were delicious with crispy edge and fatty in the middle just the way I like it. The egg required a bit of seasoning. Quality of the platter was good but quantity is less with respect to price. The triple layered chicken sandwich was well stuffed, quite filling and tasted good.
Ambience was quite cozy and soothing. With beautiful lampshades on top. They have a corner stage where artists sing lovely songs live which is my favourite part wherever I go to dine.
Jinia Chakrabarty
Love thier wide range of tea servings. We ordered thier Nathmulls yellow tea! And simply love their flavour! The Darjeeling eat platter is equally tasty! And to wrap our sumptuous meal we order their brownie with ice cream for dessert!

Though you might not find wide range of dishes but whatever is there in the menu is pretty good and to add to it the quality of the food is good. The ambience is too good with an extra addition to the live music which adds up to the ambience. Overall a good place to spend your evening.

Had been to this place for a quick cuppa. A tiny cafe with very little space. A little overpriced. They will brew the tea and hold it infront of your nose for you to get the aroma, which is kinda weird. Staff is not very courteous. Wasn’t at all impressed.

Hi all, I visited today the whistling kettle along with my gf and to be honest its an overwhelming experience both with food and ambience, and not to forget the cordial behaviour of the two ladies who served us the food. The pork ham cheese grilled sandwich and chicken salami grilled sandwich both were superb. Then we had pan cake with honey...it was also nice soft and a real enjoyment to your taste buds, we finished with chocolate shake👍 overall a 5 star to them.

Loved the Sunny side up. And the delicious Pasta.. chicken carbonara sauce spaghetti.. It was simply perfect.

Visited this place with a friend.. Due to their unique name and decor.. Had ordered chicken club sandwich, oreo shake and cold coffee.. The prior two items mentioned were at par but the cold coffee which we were served had too much froth.. On complaining they served us with another glass of cold coffee.. Loved their acceptance of their mistake and mending it.. Appreciating their good spirit would love to visit again due to their hospitality..

Overpriced food which completely lacks taste! We dropped here on 31st Dec, ordered Pizza, chicken salami sausage eggs, pizza tasted so bad for the price of 410, salami sausage were very less in quantity as per price. What a disappointment it was!

This cafe is located at golpark beside Mouchak sweet shops. It's a very beautiful cafe with great ambience . The staffs are well courteous and well mannered. Food are also quite good in taste . I have ordered grilled paneer sandwich which is really good. Prices are reasonable.

Yesterday night, I ordered a pizza online. Pizza was cold and hard when I received it at home. Felt terrible with the online order. The restaurant could have done a better job. I expected a hot pizza because the place was just 0.50 kms from my home. (approx. distance Golpark to Gariahat Junction). Terrible experience............

This is a small cafe located near Golpark. Visited it in Christmas, but it was almost empty. This place doesn’t have love music performance, only the setup is there. The cold coffee tasted nice. Didn’t like the pizza thigh

All the Chaisexuals out there, this one is for you. Just like its name, The Whistling Kettle offers fine tea along with other continental dishes, this cafe is located at Golpark. A very cosy and nice cafe, located primely within 10 mts from the Golpark crossing. What I loved,is the feel of Darjeeling inside the place.Even I learnt they sell authentic teas brought from darjeeling tea estates. One can find different variations of teas for all tea lovers & connoisseurs.Ranging from White tea,Green tea,First flush,Second flush, etc even traditional nepali kettles & teapots were available there.Going inside, seating areas were comfortable with nice wall decor.Loved their lighting. They even host live music.

We tried their Pork Sausages & Chicken sausage with meatloaf and eggs. For drinks,we tried Cold coffee with ice cream,Kiwi shake,Mango shake & Crunchy oreo shake. All items were very fresh & delish.
Highly recommended to drop a visit with friends or family.

A tiny dareeling themed cafe located just near Mouchak in Golpark. Heard a lot about this cafe. Being a tea and coffee lover finally visited it on Saturday evening. Around 7pm 3 of us reached there. The place was almost empty. Only 2 tables were occupied. The entrance is very beautiful. They have a live music station but no one was there. Tables are placed so close that you can hear the conversation of the people next to you. The interior is soothing. Staffs are little lethargic. Our order was 3 tea : Nuthmulls yellow Tea, Nathmulls specialty Tea, Hot lemon tea, for food we ordered pork salami & cheese sandwich grilled one, pork sausage , pasta with shredded chicken. They took very long time serving all the items. Mine was yellow tea, served in Martini glass. It was high on tannin. I found it okay. Coming to the food the sandwiches were good, could have been better if they cut the edges of the breads. Pasta was decent. But the biggest disappointment was pork sausage. I had great expectation as they are serving all the Darjeeling's signature pork platters so pork must be very good over there. Sausages were way too dry. Overall it was average experience. The cafe is really pocket friendly. The total bill was only Rs.1218.

This place is very close to my heart. The ambience is extremely nice and all the food and beverages are absolutely amazing. I love their milk coffee and the sausages, both pork and chicken. Their sandwiches are simple and awesome! I have visited this place more than 20 times and they've never disappointed. The staff are really nice and polite. No matter how many cafes I visit, this one will always be my favourite.

The whistling kettle. A cozy and nice place to be at. The hosts are very welcoming, helpful and cooperative. We had a planned a bachelorette party for a friend and they gave us a perfect place for the 8 of us. We had a great time, be it the food, the photographs, the singing session. Everything was fabulous. The veg pizzas were cheesy and the toppings tasty and fresh ; the carbonara veg white sauce pasta was nice and cooked up to the mark. The coffee was prepared well. The owner of the place was all smiles. We all enjoyed ourselves!

Its a very beautiful cafe with great ambiance located just near Mouchak, Golpark. The staffs are very courteous and well mannered. We ordered Milk Coffee and Icecream Coffee. Milk coffee was good but the ice-cream coffee was not that great with very lesser amount of Icecream was added. This is a great place for relax with your closed ones. Do visit to experience it.

I went this cafe on durga puja, chothurti. It didn't too crowded thankfully in the afternoon. This cafeteria is cosy for intimate conversation.

We ordered-
◾Oreo Mint Shake - This shake is perfect for summer. It has a greenish texture and truly refreshing. Sip it through a straw for refreshing treat that will definitely cool you down.

◾ Lasagne Al Ferno - Just one bite will make you melt! The quantity of cheese was bare minimal but it had ample amount of minced chicken. It was served with a piece of garlic bread.

Price wise foods are little bit on higher side but they are worth every penny. They have a podium for live music with guitars. Staffs are very attentive and polite.

Will be returning, hopefully very soon.
Ranajit Naskar

This place is located at golpark beside Mouchak sweet shop . The interior as well as the ambience was good . Had oreo mint shake and chicken salami sandwich . I personally did not liked the taste of the shake. The sandwich were plain and simple with thin sheet of salami in between . There was no wow factor apart from the ambience .

There's something special about the ambiance of this cafe. We find it extremely soothing and very comforting. Over the last five months, we've visited this place for at least thirty times. Yes, we love it that much. The people here are really nice. Once we went there around 9.45 pm (which is beyond their last order time, i.e 9.30 pm) but they still welcomed and served us.

As far the food and beverage go, we really like the milk coffee and cold coffee here. Their sandwiches are very simple and basic, but they taste so great. Chicken ham and salami are our favourite sandwiches. We've also tried the sausage here (both chicken and pork) and we've really loved them.

Loved the cozy ambience..but the live performance was missing..Food quality was good.Pork salami was great,so as the chocolate & peanut butter shake.Dessert items, including brownie & lemon tart, were good. The only thing,I don't like the attitude of the waiters.Management should take care of it.
Anindita Sarkar
The employees behaviour were very bad, they aren’t well trained, she put the plate of pork salami on my table noisily, that was disgusting, you should keep some well trained employees in your cafe.

Must visit place for tea lovers. Love the interiors, nathmulls specials collection of tea for sale. Have visited this place 4 to 5 times everytime coming out happy and satisfied. Nathmulls specialities tea highly recommended. They have great all day breakfast options too. Loved their chicken ham grilled sandwich, pork platter, lasagne al ferno and the takeaway pastries, biscuits that they sell

Have been there for two times and the same things I loved about The Whistling Kettle which is the ambience. The second time there's a boy performing some soothing music which was brilliant. And about the food well I love their pork platter and the veg pizza which is quite tasty. A bit expensive but worth the environment and the taste. A must visit if you are a person from South Kolkata.

Went for Sunday breakfast, ordered Mushroom and Cheese grilled Sandwich, Banana Pancakes and Cold Coffee.. the food were pretty good but lacked a couple of things - 1st, the salt in the sandwich was overpowering, felt the salt in the cheese and the salt in the mushroom filling needed to be balanced.. 2nd, expected a couple of fries or chips alongside the sandwich.. 3rd, the banana pancakes needed a drizzle of honey on top of it, it was kind of a bit dry, there sould be an option to add on in case people like me want some honey or nuttella in my banana pancakes.. apart from this loved the place and food.. will definately visit them soon for their Darjeeling platter 😊

One of my favourite café in Kolkata. Waiters are really polite and the foods are are really mouth-watering. Specially the lasagna. Every Friday 6:00 p.m. onwards they provide a platform to inspiring musicians, singers, stand up comedians and writers to share their talent.

Golpark is a foodie's paradise and this cafe is a part of the paradise. The cafe is inspired by Keventer's of Darjeeling. The place is cosy and beautifully decorated with pictures of Darjeeling. The ambience is too good. On Friday evenings one can witness live performances too.
I was there with my friend and had cold coffee and chicken supremo pizza. Both the items were good. A perfect place for Adda.... The staffs were good and professional...
A large variety of Darjeeling teas are also available here, I am looking forward to try them next time....
This cafe was in my wishlist for a long time and finally visited this recently. Ambience is very impressive, a cosy place with professional staff. The quantity is sufficient according to the price, but the food is average. The pizza we ordered had a hard crust. Not fully satisfied with the items we ordered this time. I definitely had a better pasta and pizza in other cafes in that area. May be during my next visit have to try the other items from the menu.

Very good place indeed. The chicken lasagne is a worth to try. The only problem is its too chaotic. Ambience and staffs behaviour is cool. All the best.

So.... on a fine sunday morning me and my BFF was planning to have a superb breakfast ( wanted to try something new) and we decided to visit this place as it is convenient for both of us for its location. It is situated just opposite of the CCD Golpark ( 5 mins walk from Mouchak sweet shop) The ambience is pleasant and perfect to hang out with friends and family anytime of the day.

We ordered cheese omelet , sausage ( got attracted by the reference mentioned in the menu ( Darjeeling Keventers special - nostalgia overloaded) , ham-chicken sandwich and Milkshakes. Reasonable and tasty.

If you are in Golpark or nearby this is the perfect place to spend your quality time over a cup of tea. This cute little tea boutique will serve you well. :)

Been there with my mom recently and this place has become one of my favorite cafes where you can go and chill over a cup of coffee and have a good conversation with some mouth watering delicacies as your companion. They serve authentic Darjeeling tea of the famous brand Nathmul's. Loved the thin crust pizza and the pork stuffed omelette. A bit on the expensive side, but it's definitely worth paying a visit.

Visited the caffe yesterday, located at a very good location 1 min from Golpark. The cafe is having a descent ambinece and you can spend a quality time with your friends...

Coming to food ordered some shakes and sandwich both were average and ok nothing too special to mention or vouch for.

Staff behavior was also good.

So if you are around Golpark area wanting to spend some time then this is recommended..

Well, this was chosen for a treat from a friend. We didn't bother too much complicacy and ordered a Chicken Platter and a Pork Platter. The Chicken Platter wasn't that good. But the Pork Platter was just perfect. Every item was perfectly cooked. The place is really cute.
Samvida Ray
Located in golpark this place is ideal to spend time with friends. We had chicken lasagne al ferno. The ambiance is really nice and the staff were very cordial.

A small good nice poshy cafe. Food decent coffees are better and a good ambience.Price tag is decent but slightly higher than average. Nothing much to mention its a place worth visiting. Pastas are really yummy and awesome. I would recommend it for a one time visit for non cafe lovers.

Nice ambience, good food, good decor, can be opted for frnds' outing.
We had lasagne , mango shake, kiwi shake... all 3 were tasty.
Cost frndly.

I went here with my brother for his post exam celebration after watching the good reviews and man what a disappointment ! Firstly, we went around 2.30pm which is lunch time and they were moping the floor. It's understandable. Then, then don't serve water you need to buy one to drink. That's rude. Third, food not good and quantity was not appreciated. Had half baked sandwich and okayish pasta and left the place asap. On a side note: Ambience good, small and cozy space and definitely not a place for large group .
Kaustav Bhattacharya
Went there on my birthday, a nice cozy cafe situated in Golpark. The ambience is nice and the food is okayish.
Had sphegatti with meat balls
And margherita pizza was little bit dull, but the sphegatti was good

The Whistling Kettle is an All day breakfast cafe in Golpark. The place has a very calming vibe to it. The food is moderately priced. I tried the Ham&cheese sandwiches and the lasagna and it was absolutely delicious! Do try out their Vietnamese Coffee and their pineapple upside down cake. In fact anything from their bakery.

Food- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ambience- ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Price-⭐⭐⭐⭐

Would I recommend it? ABSOLUTELY!

A cafe set with beautiful decor in Gariahat Golpark area, very easy to locate.
We ordered below items:
Cold coffee with ice cream - 4/5
Crunchy cookie shake - 5/5
Spaghetti bolognese chicken - 3/4
The food and drink were decent.

This is a place where you can spend a lovely evening over a cup of coffee or milk shakes with a small group of friends or family. Place is quite small yet cozy. Decor is lovely with a good background music. Food is standard. Ordered milkshakes and sandwiches. Ham sandwich is tasty . Location is very good.Recommended for cafe lovers.
Anshu David
I went their for breakfast. Lovely decor and ambience. Not highly priced. Food is good. Loved the shake and sandwich... CCD is now old age... Try out this one...
Biplov Sunar
This place is good but food quantity are very less if u are comparing with darjeeling keventers then there portion of every platter are huge.. so please provide the amount of food as per price u have mentioned ..

This is the place where you can spend your quality time over a cup of tea. This outlet is situated at Golpark just behind road of Mouchak. I am quite a cafe hopper but I went here for the first time. We tried Mint oreo shake and salami grilled sandwich. Hope I will visit here again.
Ankana Kumar
I went their with my bestie...and we had chicken grilled sandwich, cheese omlet, cold coffee & cold coffee with ice cream! I loved the food and the ambience so much! It was not too costly. Service was also good! One should visit once... It's a nuce place to spend your own time!❤️

This place is located opposite to golpark CCD. The ambience is soo cool, you will definitely fall in love with the place, mild light, soft music, a perfect place for spending quality time with your loved ones. I would give 4 stars for the ambience only!
Now coming to the food, we ordered, chicken salami and cheese sandwich and cappuccino. Food was good I would say.
But I am really dissatisfied with the behaviour of the staffs there. One of them was a girl who was serving us, kept on laughing, pointing at us for no reason. Within half n hour, she came up with the bill, though we have not asked for it, and my coffee was not finished yet. I was really disappointed. Will never visit this place again for the behaviour of the staff only. I would give 3stars for the food and 1star for the staffs behaviour.
Diya Basu
I absolutely adore this place solely because of the music played there and the ambience. It's really hard to find such places with that kind of music. Was extremely happy with the peanut butter shake I ordered:)))
Moumita Dhali
Went there today , a small well decorated place, ambience was good and also the food was tasty. We love their hospitality. And the quantity of the shakes r equally good.
Ritabratamukherjee91
Very poor food quality. Milkshakes taste terrible! So is coffee. Not at all up to the mark. Sandwiches r just so so. Not recommended. Disappointed.

One of the best place to visit for pizza and pasta. They serve one of the best lasagne in town. Today I ordered one veg pizza, spaghetti bolognese and a chessecake. All were too good, nicely packed and delivered at my doorstep. Highly recommended, its a must visit place.
Samresh Mahato
This place is love. I have visited it twice and still wish to go few more times. The lasagne was so filling and tasty. One was enough for two people. And the milkshakes were amazing too. The interior is sweet and the entrance is pretty. The place is not very large but comfortable enough to spend your quality time. One must definitely go to this place.
Arjun Onkarnath
Excellent place - must try their pizza and coffee selections. They also have a great selection of teas. The only issue is that this being a popular joint, there’s often a considerable waiting period during the peak hours. I wish they had a bigger place.
Sourav Das
The food tasted good until we found a bug inside one of the crevices of the much coveted and hyped pizza that everyone brags about this place, and hence our choice of order.

The staff was courteous enough to replace the food and bring a brand new plate of the Chicken Supremo Pizza.

The Chocolate shake we ordered was satisfactory. The decor was fine. Since I visit this place often, won't complain much.

Priya Mondal
A great place to spend a quiet evening with friends and family. The brews of tea I ordered were made to perfection and staff were knowledgeable also polite. Must try.
Krishtina Das
Sudden plan nicely executed. Went along with with my cousins. Ordered cold coffee, butter toast, green tea, chichen salami sandwich & brownie.

Taste was good and serving portions were decent.

Ambience was very comfortable with live performances.

I recommend this place.

As you enter a beautiful gift-shop welcomes you. It is stacked with exquisite teas, delicate tea-sets, colourful kettles etc. Next is the beautiful dining area, there is a musical platform in one corner as well.

We ordered one Vietnamese coffee. It had a layer of milk and the coffee was dropping from the strainer. Then the whole thing was added to a glass of ice-cubes. It was a great show I must admit. And the chilli cheese sandwich was quite nice.

They have a wonderful range of teas which I would like to have on my next visit. The pricing is very much justified.
Ria Dey
The place was average. The food was average. i didnt like this cafe that much. its a very small cafe. The mango shake was too sour .

place - Golpark More , beside Mouchak Sweet Shop.

A true hidden gem. Nice place to enjoy breakfast on a lazy morning with your near and dear ones 😊. Speak your heart out over a cup of Darjeeling tea, satisfy your taste buds with sumptuous dishes. Had English Breakfast Chicken Combo and Chicken Salami Grilled Sandwich. Enjoy a bit of Darjeeling in Kolkata. Highly recommended 👍
Swarnava Halder
Both the ambience and quality of food are great, but slight improvement could have been done with the quantity in accordance with the price.
Soham Sen
I don't know if it's the tea or the pork, this place always reminds me of Darjeeling. The pork platter and Vietnamese coffee are must trys. The staff is always polite and suggesting newer things to try out. Also, if you're lucky you might as well catch someone strumming the guitar to old tunes.

I'm glad I found this quiet place tucked away in the middle of all the hustle of Golpark. I hope to keep coming back.
Debalina Mitil Chowdhury
A slice of Darjeeling in Kolkata. Nathmull's tea, premium, first-second flush, so many variants and white tea even. The kettle's always whistling here. To top it all, the meat platters are cooked to perfection. There's a music corner with a guitar too. Anyone can feel free to strum up a tune. But the best is, when they have live shows. A friendly, cozy place just around the corner of Golpark.
What I loved: White Tea, Nathmull's Limited Edition. They serve those in a flute. The tea experience has been amazing.
Pork Platter. The gooey awesomeness of fried eggs, the chewy wholesomeness of baked beans, yummy fried bacon, hash browns with sweetness of baked tomato. Not only filling, but they are fulfilling.

A bit of nostalgia and a lot of good tea... As well as finger-licking good fare... That is The Whistling Kettle for you...
In case you are near Golpark or Gariahat, you must sample the appetisers this cozy little cafe serves... It's more like a tea room though... Dim lighting, a steady buzz and constant influx of diners makes this a busy place... If you have to wait for a table, you might enjoy browsing through the delicate teaware exhibited at the shop... They sell fabulous organic and Nathmull tea as well...
My friend and I had the eggs and bacon sandwich and a chicken supreme thin crust pizza with lots of Nathmull black tea... The fries were a tad oversalted but the rest of the food was very good. The desert section can do with a bit more variety though. We ended the meal with a marble cake but ideally the eatery should have a requisition of ice-cream and other pastries...
However, these are but tiny glitches in an otherwise enjoyable evening...
Finally visited "The Whistling Kettle"...awesome place...ambience was great and calm...no loud music...

Ordered Lasagne Al Ferno which taste fabulous...then Chicken stuffed Omelette which was mouth watering...And lastly Crunchy Cookie Shake and Kiwi Shake which was appetizing...tasty dishes and lovely place...

Do visit this place...strongly recommended!!😋🤤

This cafe is located in golpark and is really easy to locate. This is especially a tea joint which provides elite flavours of darjeeling tea. It is also accompanied by small bites. The ambience here is cozy and soothing along with really courteous and friendly staff. Thr decor here is all related to tea items like kettle mugs cups etc.
I had ordered few items including darjeeling tea which was the best.
1. Chicken stuffed omlette- must try. The omlette was stuffed with wholesome amount of shredded chicken and onions. It is a good snack
2. Chicken sausages - these tasted like the regular sausages we eat at home.
3. Chicken salami sandwich- This was also a good one. The amount of chicken was more than sufficient and the bread slices were perfectly grilled.
This tea joint is a small and cozy one and i would recommend you to try!

This small cafe in one of the lanes of golpark reminded me of a place I simply love.. Darjeeling...!! Dimly lit & cozy this cafe serves all kinds of food that is usually found in Darjeeling.

We had chicken ham grilled sandwich, chicken salami grilled sandwich, chicken sausage fried, chicken omelette & cheese sandwich.. all tasted good. Would definitely visit again to taste their other delicacies.

Darjeeling has been the single most favored holiday destination for Bengalis (with Puri, Odisha giving a good fight for the same favored place). It has been a fancy across generations, from the newspaper reading one of my dad’s age or the ever-scrolling generation of mine.

And one place has been the Mecca for tea lovers – Nathmull’s in Darjeeling. From the more affordable tea leaves to the super exotic flavours, this place has its own fan following.

So what happens when in the newspaper , we read that the Nathmull’s current owners have opened a tea boutique?

The Whistling Kettle… that’s the place. Right next to the lane of Mouchak near Golpark, this cute little tea boutique serves the world of Nathmull’s along with…. The famed Keventers breakfast menu!
Wall of Fame

Well the Honumans could hardly wait and landed up there on the May day evening.
The entrance is lined with a wall full of colorful crockery, kettles and a miniature Darjeeling Himalayan Railway steam engine and other end lined with varieties of Nathmull’s tea.

Sweltering heat throughout the day and yearning for rain – all these finally found its salvation in the cup of Nathmull’s lemon tea.

A refreshing pot of that and suitably complimented by the famed Meat Platter… Yes from Keventers again!
What more could we ask for? Nathmull’s and Keventers within our reach, by short ride.
We also ordered Spaghetti Bolognese and two thin crust pizzas – one Margherita and one Pepperoni. While Spaghetti Bolognese and Margherita was an instant hit, however the meat in Pepperoni left us bit underwhelmed.
Needless to say, at the end of this sojourn, we were content and full. Guess what – all these with a slice of marble cake, made a pocket pinch of only INR. 1275/-.
As of today, they accept only cash. Their manager informed that by this week, both POS terminal for card and PayTM would be installed.

Monkey Verdict: This Cha rocks. And the accompanying ‘Ta’ is just like Jay and Veeru!
📣
Follow our Insta: @honumans
Follow our FB: Honuman Shongothon
Follow our blog: www (dot) honumanshongothon (dot) com

Warm dècor with low-hanging dim lights and a chic retro look that easily allured us in on a rainy afternoon.

In frame, the Chicken Lasagna and Chocolate Shake.

The Chicken Lasagna for 345 is the typical four tier layering of pasta strip-chicken-pasta strip-cheese and comes with a piece of toast. The chicken and pasta were well cooked and served enough for two but lacked seasoning and had a little too much oil dripping at the bottom.

The chocolate shake for 120 was thick, chilled and not too sweet. Satisfyingly chocolaty!

Will visit again for trying out other dishes!

Apart from the food..that soothing atmosphere and the cozyness of this place is something I liked the most..located near mouchak , golpark..Not much big but still can hold a good number of people..They have a tea shop also.
Quality of the food was very good..specially our last order i.e. Lasagne al freno was extremely delicious..quantity was more than enough..we had Chicken salami&cheese grilled sandwich and chocolate shake also..both tasted well..wanted to try their stuffed omelette but had to leave the idea as our tummy was totally full..Staff are polite and served our orders fast.
Will certainly recommend this place to all.

This place defines mediocrity.
The All Day Breakfast Pork Special picture on the menu depicts a complete spread including toast and baked beans. These were nowhere to be found in our order.
The staff is as pathetic as the food. Yes. They were attentive enough to get the order. But the answer to "why have you given us so unequal amounts for two glasses of the same drink" should definitely not be "because he poured the drink unequally".

The whistling kettle is located just opp to ccd in golpark and its slowly stealing their thunder. Like many coffee shops nowadays it also houses a store.
Ambience- quite good and calm,no loud music. Comfortable chairs, there is area where u can perform live.
Food n drink- i tried the flat bread chicken pizza which was okay, nothing special about it. Coffee was also adequate. I must nothing stood out in the menu.
Service- functional.
Price- a bit high for a coffee shop but at par with ccd.

Had ordered Chicken lasagna and Pepperoni 🍕 with extra cheese.
The pizza was thin crusted.
Even with extra cheese it ddnt feel that cheesy.3/4

And the lasagna lacked cheese . Had a single layer of cheese on the top. 3.5/5
But was better than the pizza!!

One of my favorite cafes... Perfect for date... A very calm place with beautiful decoration... Staffs are well behaved and foods also taste good... We tried mango shake, chocolate shake and pancake... Because it's a vegan day😂 but we're really satisfied... I highly recommend this cafe and you'll enjoy their live performances 👍

I went there a couple of years back with a friend. It was a surprise find. The ambience is really nice and upscale. The staff are polite. We ordered shakes and spagetti and although i had no complaints with my strawberry shake, the pasta was on the saltier side. Overall, it was a nice experience and i wouldn't mind visiting again.

"The Whistling Kettle' was in my mind from a long time back. Finally, we visited this place a few days back along with my friends.

The cafe is not very big. The decor is pretty simple and the ambience has that cozy vibes. It has a podium for live music. But we were not fortunate enough to listen live cause we visited the cafe at around 3pm.

It is in a walking distance of 2-3 minutes from Golpark crossing by the side of Mouchak. Its a bit difficult to locate via Google maps, but the cafe's manager will definitely help you out after calling them.

So, we ordered the following:
1. Chicken Sausage Salami and Egg : The Chicken sausage(2 pieces) , salami(2pieces) and an egg poach were served with mashed potato, some veggies and a roasted tomato. The taste was not up to the mark. For me, it was overpriced in compare to the quantity served and also some other cafes.
2. Pork Ham Salami and Egg : Same remark for this item also. Its really overpriced.
3. Chicken Salami and Cheese Grilled Sandwich : Finally, these sandwiches were our saviour for the day. The sandwiches were perfectly grilled with good amount of chicken and cheese. It was damn good in taste.

Courteous staffs but very slow service.I hope this will get fixed in time. But still, I want the management to look after this asap. Till then, you have to be choosy wit your order. If you choose right, you will be okay.
