Review Ping's Cafe Orient - Kolkata (Calcutta)

Dipannita Mallick
Ping's Cafe Orient was in my wishlist for the longest of time as I can remember and the place did not disappoint even a bit. The decor is amazing and so are the staffs. The food is heavenly to say the least. We ordered the following dishes and drinks and all of them were unique and tasted awesome. 1. Charcoal Roast Pork Skewers - The name pretty much explaoms the dish. The smoky flavour in the perfectly cooked pork was amazing. A must try! 2. Prawn Garlic Butter Dimsum - very smooth favour, the dimsum outer layer was also thin, did not taste very unique but it tasted pretty good. 3. Pork Char Siu Bao - The Char Siu Pork inside the Bao was great. The bao bun was also good but I am a bit biased towards the bao bun of Momo i am, so in comparison, MIA wins in my opinion. But this one is another must try from ping's! 4. Lamb Rendang Curry and Steam Rice - The Rendang currt comes with a paratha but we ordered steamed rice seperately. The curry was one of the best one I have had till date. It had a rich coconut and kaffir lime flavour and I cannot emphasise how much I loved it. 100% a must try dish! 5. Chocolate Marquise - We ended our meal with Chocolate Marquise. The dessert was very smooth and was a perfect end to a perfect meal. For drinks we had ordered the cocktails Gin & Tea, Moscow Mule and Lemon Drop and both the drinks were very refreshing. On a different day I had also had Tenderloin Laksa home delivered from Ping's and it was heavenly. Do give it a try atleast once to know how amazing it tastes! I would definitely visit again to try out all the other great dishes that they offer. A highly recommended place!

The most amazing discovery of ours in Kolkata for pan-Asian. So much so we went twice within a weekend. The richest and yet most delicate of flavors, the dip and sauces out of the world, the soups and main courses never failing to deliver just that right punch. To top it all, the hospitality is warm and the environment comforting and soothing - laidback. The staff came across as knowledgeable as to the ingredients and preparations to our eager questions, and were helpful to cater to requests to customize per preferences. A big thanks to Animesh who made the experience worthwhile both days. The pricing, though on the higher side, seems reasonable given the quality of it all. Loyalists!

Excellent Asian food. Grilled charcoal roasted pork, pork belly dish, asian betki grill , lamb gravy (in some Thai style sauce with parota) all were excellent, Service was also good. They serve liquor but our group had taken beer only.

Pings is my go to in Kolkata and delhi. You can be guaranteed excellent cocktails, excellent service and brilliant food. I would advise their appetizers and short eats more than the main course. Their Peking duck is excellent and a hearty portion for 4. Prawn hargao is my favourite anywhere. Go ahead treat yourself whether it be a date, a special celebration or a catch-up with a group of friends.

An amazing afternoon with the delicacies. We had Bailey's Irish Cream (4.5/5) Thai Lemongrass cooler ( really refreshing ,4.5/5) Dimsums: chicken Peking(4/5) and butter prawn(4.5/5) And lastly the dessert, Chocolate Marquise, is a heaven. (100/5) A pricy, yet a cosy cafe ♥️

We tried the Samurai lobster, Philadelphia cream cheese dim sum, Soft shell crab bao, Pear poached in wine. All the food were very tasty. The ambiance was nice. But this place is a little overpriced.

This is my second time here and it has been a good experience. We tried the Philadelphia creme cheese dimsum which was cheesy and very heavy. Its a steamed dimsum with lot of cream cheese which makes for a weird texture but great with the side spicy sauce. Maybe some thinly sliced, slightly pickled ginger would really accentuate the taste by bringing more character to the dimsum . The charcoal roast pork was good with a well balanced flavor. The one that stood out for me was the slow simmered bhetki, it was spicy, flavorful and came with a side of sticky rice which hit all the right spots in my taste bud. I also liked the kimchi sticky rice and I recommend that. The healthy chicken , that's the name I believe was tasty but I would not categorize that as healthy. Overall this is a nice place with a huge spread, large portion sizes and friendly staff.

Finally made it to Pings Kolkata, this place is pure vibes. We dropped in for a quick couple of cocktails and a bite. The Highballs we had was incredible refreshing, great flavours without overpowering the drink. We also had stirred aged rum, tea and absinthe drink which reminded us of a tropical Sazerac.

The food is appetizing, especially the Philadelphia Cheese Dim Sum, they are filled with flavour and cheese! Laksa and Ramen were equally delicious, and the quantity is definitely worth the price. The place has a nice youthful vibe, and the staff is co-operative and their service is quick.

The food here is excellent, and I one of the best duck dishes in the city here. However the portion sizes are tiny, especially given the price, and not every dish is worth it.

A relatively new entrant in Park St serving authentic Asian food. Prompt service, good quality but a bit expensive wrt portion size. Good variety of starters like Chicken Yakitori, Wok tossed dynamite shrimp, Brocoli Almond Truffle oil dim sum are extremely tasty. The Lemongrass cooler or Vietnamese Iced Coffee are very refreshing mocktsils, worth trying.

Amazing food! And lovely ambience! The staffs could be a little more efficient! Bevan was most solicitous and he did his best! The XO prawns, the Glazed pork belly, the Tom yum soup and the Xiaolong bao ( prawn and squid) were all awesome! The Jalapeno pepper and pineapple mocktail was very interesting...spicy and refreshing

I don't have enough words to explain how much I loved this place. The foods are damn damnnn tasty. It's a hidden gem in Park Street. Great ambiance and definitely I will visit again....

It's a cozy place to be in. And the food great. So are the cocktails. If you need to go to cozy place with good food in Park Street, you might want to try this one. This place won't disappoint. It's definitely a worthy addition to the already existing iconic places in Park Street. The food will definitely not disappoint you.

Absolutely love the food here, although a little expensive, all their items are incredible, specially their pork bao and chocolate foam with rum. The seating area is well decorated and cosy. They serve alcohol and have a bar inside the restaurant.

This place is amazing!!!! A must visit, ofc! The food is as good as the portion. Would suggest to try the ramen, Khao suey, and the matcha baked sandesh cheesecake. The food might be a little pricey but it's worth it!

One of the best places in Kolkata to try Pan Asian food. Absolutely love their super cool ambience. The food here is amazing. Do give their Philadelphia Cream Cheese Dimsum a try! Also, the baos, cocktails and curries are a must have.

Utterly overpriced keeping both the food portion and the food quality in mind. Service was decent. Disappointing affair!

Went for dinner a few days ago with family. I absolutely loved the food, ambiance and the service. We will definitely visit the place again. Everything we ordered was amazing and made me very happy. ( it's very difficult to make me happy as far as food is concerned )

Went there once and cancelled a Birthday reservation at the Oberoi Grand to go back 2 days later to celebrate my birthday and it was so well worth it ! Definitely on the top of my regular “places to eat out” list now !

Excellent atmosphere, a drux place for hangout food & beverages.

Good ambience, nice service, tasty food. A little pricey but the decor, comfort and the off beat dishes make up for it. Will definitely recommend.

Had a terrible experience today . Thought of trying this place for first time . Visited around 7 pm ,the restaurant was empty when I entered with my family . We were provided a 4 seater which had 4 normal wooden chairs . Requested them if we can be given a table with sofa as I had 2 small kids and looking at the chairs it looked very discomfortable for my 5 yr to seat and have food . But they denied saying its already reserved . We managed in the 4 seater , thereafter another family came in and occupied same kind of seat as was provided to us . We were on the verge of placing the order when we saw this family of 3 was allowed to move to the table having sofa . So I called the manager and asked him for his generosity to the other family as me having 2 small kids got denied and the other person without any small kid was allowed .He had no proper answer and finally when I decided to move out they they provided a seat with sofa . Just Fyi - all these times there were only 2 families in the entire restaurant . Then came the real disappointment , waited for close to an hour to get out our food after that when enquired about why it is taking so much time , just came to know they realised they had packed the food and kept it aside !! Guys like seriously are you professional and respect the customers ?

This is the first and last time me visiting the place !

If dumplings is on your mind, then this place is an absolute must! They offer avariety of Asian food ranging from Chinese to Indonesian to Korean.
1. Pings fashioned: a cocktail that serves well as a palate cleanser with a strong flavor of star anise. Makes your palate ready for the food to come.
2. Philadelphia cream cheese dimsum with wild mushroom, water chestnut and truffle oil: an extremely wonderful dish, something I've never tasted before. Extremely complex flavors yet a well blended simplicity. Leaves you craving for more. A must try.
3. Prawn har gow: the prawn stuffing inside was absolutely delightful. The flavor and taste of prawn was kept intact and the texture was a best part. Highly recommended.
4. Chicken sui mai: the chicken was well flavored with spices, the wrapping not too thick. A well prepared dish.
5. Shredded duck bao: the bao was extremely soft and the flavor just came through. The sauce blended well with the flavor. However it was a bit too sweet for my taste.
6. Pho noodle soup: the soup was extremely aromatic and the thick noodles were filling. The soup came with greens, egg and chicken with chilli oil, green onions and dried fish flakes on the side to be mixed as per taste. A filling dish to warm you up.
7. Nasi lemak: rich steamed in coconut milk served with a fried chicken piece, boiling egg, peanut, sambal and cucumber. A Malaysian dish served perfectly with an amazing taste.
The ambience was lively and the staff extremely courteous. A highly recommend place for some good food and fun time.
Rating: 4/5.
Pocket pinch: 1500 for 2.

Placed an order for pick up over the phone for 3 portions of Cream cheese dumplings & 1 veg Crystal dumplings at 7. Was told it would be ready in 30-40 mins. So I planned my trip to the restaurant accordingly. Reached there at 7.40 called them every 10 mins asking for the order , every time a new person picked up the phone saying the order is in process. After waiting for 40 mins in the car, in a pandemic situation like for some food, I got tired and didn’t want to enter the restaurant. Called them for one last time, this time a lady answered the call, asked for the car details and brought our order over after 40 mins of us waiting! She comes to our car , when asked her the cause of delay she told us your order was ready 30 mins ago . No information or apologies were given
for the delay.
What kind of service is this. If you can’t handle takeaway deliveries or manage your staff then please don’t accept orders. I felt very uncomfortable safety wise having to wait for 40 mins out side the restaurant.

Extremely disappointed, I suggest if you want a quick pick up for food order DO NOT GO TO PINGS.

Search for authentic indonesian street food ends here. Nasi goreng was simply out of the world. Liked the attention given to small details like prawn crackers, nasi skewers that comes along nasi goreng! Thai sliced lamb was also amazing!

It’s is one of my favourite place to visit, simply a go to place. The ambience is amazing so is the decor and the staff are also courteous and friendly.
The food out there is worth having.
They have various options in their menu as well.
The only thing is that the quantity is little less I meant the food portion.

A mind blowing experience. Best Oriental food in the entire city. enjoyed the food and the atmosphere with the best chefs in the city.

Amazing place and the best for Asian lovers! Be sure to have a treat!!!!! (Literally can’t contain my excitement and love for this place)

As I was suggested by lot of friends and relatives, that this place serves the best Oriental food in town, well it's partially true, it is not best but the food is good, I had no issue with the food. The price of food is a bit high but it's worth it. My suggestion to the chef, please work on the food presentation, it looks very less on presenting. I ordered prawn which was tossed in wasabi mayo. I got 12 pcs, taste was good nice and crispy outside and soft fresh prawn inside, but the presentation was not good it looked very less, my suggestion is to serve it in a different way that it looks good and not compact in a rice paper basket. In drinks I asked the waiter what is the best cocktail, he suggested me to have pings godfather which was whiskey based, I tried and I was really disappointed, first no taste, very sour, I could find only lemon juice which is overpowering other ingredients, portion 2 to 3 sips maybe 100 ml to 150 ml and your drink is finished, price very expensive--895/- not worth it at all, please check your costing and taste before you serve the guest, increase the portion, put bit of monin syrup, fill the glass with ice and pour it, serve in long martini glass, it's not a complain, it is a suggestion as I belong to this hospitality industry. 2 beer, 1 cocktail, 1 starter, 1 water, cost me more than 3000 with 10%service charge, didn't like it. The behavior of the waiter was good, very polite. I will come back again to try more of your food.

I enjoyed a lovely week day lunch here during Great Indian Restaurant Festival and got a 50% discount on the food bill. We ordered a mushroom soup that was cooked in broth, deliciously flavourful with crunchy greens floating in it. The spicy chicken dimsums were a taste bomb. The juicy chicken salad though very balanced in the sweet/sour /salt department was a tad too fishy for my taste. As for the mains: we ordered the Nasi Goreng with Chicken skewers and Nasi Lemak with fried chicken. The former was a smoky fried rice...the taste was too aggressively umami for me as was the fish sauce smell. The sticky sweet coconut milk rice with condiments was a better platter, I felt. The fried chicken was to die for...the intense saltiness went so well with the bland rice! I overate of course, a sign that the food was good. Will come back again!

Chandan, was very attentive and did a wonderful job taking care of us. He overheard that it was my daughters bday and immediately brought a delicious desert to celebrate. We were all very touched. Thank you Chandan.

A chic-place with dim and ambient lighting. Had Broccoli, Almond and Truffle Oil Dimsum, Spinach Tempura Bao, Peking Chicken and Wok-Fried Sliced Lamb. Pocket pinch was around Rs. 1600. Quite on the higher side but saying that the dishes were quite amazing and unique in it's own kind. The Lamb could have been softer but the Dimsums were out of this world and lip-smacking tasty.

After making a few visits at this place I must say, it is truly a wonder ! I almost regret not finding about it any sooner.

Speaking of Ambience, the place is pretty w/ a lovely decor & comfy seatings. The place is relatively spacious w/ two storeys but it can still get crowded on holidays. Service here, is apt & timely w/ the staff being quite informative & helpful.

Coming to Food, it has been wonderful so far here ! The Food is really quite stunning & delicious over here. Portions especially for Mains are quite appropriate & ample, however Dumplings could really use a bit more.
Recommendations would be their Philadelphia Cream Cheese Dumplings, Chicken Shu Mai, Pho Noodle Soup, Penang Curry, Ginger Roger, Chocolate Foam & Chocolate Marquise !

What I've had :-

DUMPLINGS & APPETIZERS :
1. Philadelphia Cream Cheese Dumplings - absolute must try
2. Chicken Shu Mai
3. Peking Chicken
4. Spinach Tempura Bao - must try
5. Broccoli, Almond & Truffle Oil Dumpling

MAINS :
1. Pho Noodle Soup - must try
2. Chicken Fried Rice - was fine, not the best
3. Steamed Rice
4. Penang Curry - must try
5. Wok Fried Lamb - must try
6. Air Fried Whole Pomfret

DRINKS & DESSERTS :
1. Dark & Stormy
2. Ginger Roger - must try

3. Chocolate Foam - must try
4. Chocolate Marquise - must try
5. Assorted Mochi

Overall, had a fantastic set of experiences at this place. The Food is really delicious over here, really impressed ! Recommended from my end.

Pings Cafe Orient is a small situated near Loreto girls school. We were greeted by courteous staff, and for starters, had ordered char siu pork bao and stir fried lamb. The lamb was well cooked, but tasted very average. The pork bao was very disappointing, though portion was large,it did not taste anything like an authentic bao,and had mustard sauce sprinkled over the top!! For mains,I went for the duck ramen. The portion was humungous, could be shared by 3-4 people, but the broth was way too salty and lacked flavour. The pork nasi goreng was above average, with delectable well cooked succulent pork belly skewers, but the rice was too doused in soy sauce and once again too salty for our liking. The one dish I really enjoyed was the seafood laksa,a hearty coconut milk filled bowl of goodness, highly recommended. Overall, disappointed after reading the good reviews on Zomato. The price seems to be high considering the rather average quality of food served here!

Ping's cafe orient is located in middleton road, near loretto house college, park street, kolkata. The ambience is extremely relaxed and party-like, which makes it best for the college crowds. This is the perfect place to hangout with your friends as there is a game floor upstairs, used mostly for gaming. And the ground floor is perfectly lit up, with ample seating area and lots of decorations, like quotes in bright neon colours.

We had ordered a chicken teriyaki bao priced at Rs.425 and a chicken fried rice priced at Rs.275. The chicken teriyaki bao was very sweet and very delicious in taste. And the chicken fried rice had the perfect mix of spice and the chicken flavour to it. Which makes it for a very tasty dish. I would totally recommend this place to anyone in and around park street.

1. Chicken teriyaki bao - Rs. 425.
2. Chicken fried rice - Rs.275.

Rating : 4.8/5.

Ping's Cafe Orient is indeed a hidden gem. Tucked away on Middleton Street a couple of hundred metres from the ever popular Peter Cat, this pan Asian restaurant is small in size but has a big heart. We visited on Christmas Day (2019) for lunch, but missed the mulled wine. Instead we were offered Hot Toddy which was to die for. Anyone who has a sore throat can dump the antibiotics and opt for this one, the throat will be fixed overnight.

Shankar served us well. We opted for Roast Pork in um Sauce, prawns sui mai and pan fried chicken gyoza all of which were spot on.

For the main course, Mee Goreng with pork or chicken, or Pad Thai noodles are simply irresistible. Or simply settle for the standard chicken fried rice and a diced chicken in black bean sauce. Succulent, crunchy and piquant, each one has a distinct flavour and is gratifying. The portions are large (albeit the noodle bowls are each good for one) and the prices are reasonable.

Much recommended. Cost for a couple approximately Rs. 2,000.
Simran
Nasi lemak tasted pretty bad it has a very overpowering taste of coconut and the chicken was quite bland and extra salty not worth the money at all. Ramen was okay but not worth the price
Most disappointing was the staff who were in an extreme hurry to kick us out which was plain rude. They gave us the bill even without us asking for it! And it’s not like they had a line of customers waiting outside. Very disappointing

Thank you so much for making my Christmas a beautiful one. What a brilliant menu starting from cocktails to dessert!
Coming to the main point , I urge everyone to plan a eat out at Pings soonest possible. We were group of 6 people went there for a Christmas dinner and Pings made our day. We ordered Cream cheese dimsum and chicken dimsum for starters. I must say that Cream cheese Dimsum is a piece of heaven on earth. Cocktails ordered were Elderflower spritzer, whiskey mule, ginger roger. Each and every cocktail was amazing . As I am vodka person I enjoyed Elderflower Spritzer more. For Entree we ordered different bowls starting from Pho Noodle Soup, Ramen, Pad Kra Pao, Udon Noodles, Lasi Lemak and Malaysian bhetki rice bowl. Ramen and Pho soup was soothing and perfect choice for weightwatchers . Lasi Lemak is rice cooked in coconut milk which is amazing and extremely flavorful. Pad kra pao is the safest if you don't want to experiment much and still want something soothing and comforting. The quality of meat in every item was good, well prepared and have an unique taste. Malaysian Bhetki is a soul food for all bengali as it has 'machh and bhaat' yet with an oriental twist.
My rating is based absolutely on the quality and quantity of food. For healthy oriental food this is THE place.

Having visited this place for the first time on christmas despite it being on my bucket list for a very long time, i loved every bit of my visit to the extent that i called the GM Saurav and congratulated him personally. Firstly we didn't have a reservation and Saurav was kind enough to accommodate us in a swarming rush of incoming guests. Next a special mention must go to the beef salad. It is the best i have had so far in my life. Anyone who loves salads or beef or oriental cuisine, must try this masterpiece out. Drunken noodles and diced chicken stir fry was also good but then the dessert, matcha sandesh cheesecake was again a stunner. The service was more than sweet and courteous. Highly recommended for the ambience, the food, the warmth shown by Saurav as well as all the attendants. You people are doing a fabulous job. You can pat your backs and get a glass of wine maybe to celebrate your good work. Cheers and merry Christmas 💖

I've wanted to come ping's cafe orient for a long time, a place known for its food and drinks. We were welcomed by friendly staff and the music was good. as far as the food is concerned:
.) Chicken spicy dumpling - it was average, had better, lots of stuffing stuffing.
.) Pork Ramen - The pork was wonderful, overall a good dish.
.) Nasi Lemak - it was a wonderful dish, the taste of the chicken was out of this world accompanied with coconut rice.
.) Chocolate sandesh cheesecake - Might be the best dessert I've had in my life.
.) Chocolate Marquise - it's too chocolaty for my liking, but hey, it's just mine. Most of you'll love it :)

Went for lunch yesterday. The ambience is very delightful and their music choice sets the mood. Tried Spicy chicken dumplings ( was not spicy at all), nasi lemak ( 5/5), pork ramen (4.5/5),
For dessert sandesh cheese cake (5/5 one of the best desserts I have tried)
Chocolate marquise (5/5)
For drinks we have taken the God father and Beijing bellini. Drinks were so amazing but was little bit pricey for that much quantity.

Can't wait to try their nasi lemak, cheese cake and drinks again. Will surely recommend this place.
Thank you

Extremely exorbitant price for very average food.

Super chill and a cozy place to sneak in with dear ones. Interior is chic. Coming to food, it was one of the places where you get to eat differently tasty food. It will be so unfair if we don't talk about the "prawn crackers and pickle" that is served with drink here. Cheese filled dimsums are again one of the best picks. And last but definitely not the least, CHOCOLATE MARQUISE! IT WILL BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE AND MAKE YOUR DAY AS WELL. Chocolate at it's best. Can drop in now and then just for that one. ❤

It has the best ambience and it’s food is too amazing and it’s too good . Ambience is good as well I loved the place sooo much .

In frame : 1) Philadelphia cream cheese dimsums
2) Pork belly
3) Thai green curry with steamed rice
4) Chocolate Marquis (dessert)
Right from the dimsums to the dessert, if there's one place that aces every dish in a meal it's Ping's. Had a wonderful experience!

Favourite food items to order: Dry chicken, cream cheese dim sums, ramen, Tom kha soup.

Loved these drinks we tried:

Yours, Doctor - a concoction of cranberry juice and gin, with a touch of honey, ginger, cardamom and orange bitter.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hot Toddy - brandy and homemade spiced honey syrup with lime bitters and spices - a great evening relaxer or to cure an irritating cold!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Okay the best part of our visit was the Chocolate Marquee dessert which i highly recommend. Coming to the food, me, being on diet, went with chicken salad and my friend got the bao. Both tasted good. I would say that the price is higher than your average cafe. Other than that, really liked their hospitality!

I ordered Veg Chilli Garlic Noodles via Swiggy. I was delivered Chicken Teriyak Bowl. I called the rider who said that its the restaurants fault & i should inform Swiggy. I called Swiggy & they blamed it on the restaurant & said that they would give me a coupon for the amount i paid however they can neither take back the non veg item nor can they deliver the item i ordered as they did not trust the restaurant to make the correct order. I called the restaurant & he said the rider must have mixed up the order & he will check & revert on what he can do. I got a call from the restaurant after half an hour at 10pm to inform me that they had two orders & the mixup was the riders fault. Each person put the blame on the other & no one cared about the customer or about atleast correcting the mistake by delivering the right item. Sadly this is customer service in Kolkata!

This is a small outlet which serves oriental food. Primarily known for its dumplings, most of the dishes served here are good. The Philadelphia cream cheese dumplings and the broccoli and almond dumplings are a must try. Their mock duck bao can be avoided. The bao wasn't just made well and couldn't hold the fillings. The highway style bean curd is worth a try and the mushroom and asparagus appetizer is also an interesting preparation. Had the simple pan fried noodles, which was again good. The sauce wasn't overpowering, and the noodles were not soggy. Most fancy restaurants sometimes get basic dishes wrong. The chocolate foam with rum was nice and light. Loved the lemongrass pancotta. It was just perfect. Pings, though, is a pricy eating place.
Srishti Choraria
The food and cocktails are amazing. The baos were rewlly worth it. I just fekt that the place is stuffy and small and the punk lights are a bit too much. Water chestnut cream cheese Dumplings are so yum i am still drooling lmao

We went there and ordered dimsums, shredded duck bao, chicken yakitori, nasi goreng , pahd thai, diced chicken with kimchi rice and choco truffle as dessert. Highly recommended if you are an Asian food enthusiast.. The staffs are well behaved and courteous. Also met a staff named debasish. He is an amicable and polite guy who can guide through every details if you are new to this place.
There's a reason why Park Street area is known as the Original food street of Kolkata. Despite several renowned restaurants, that have stood here for decades, serving various classic dishes over a period of time, new age food joints like Ping's Cafe Orient have made their mark and are thriving due to the ever growing demand of Asian food in the Country's unofficial Food capital.

I finally managed to visit this place along with some friends. Ambience wise, it was a perfect setting with good music and dim lighting.

Coming to the food, our orders included :

1. Shredded Duck Bao
2. Prawn Har Gow
3. Spicy Chicken Dumplings
4. Pan Fried Chicken Noodles
5. Chicken with Chilli
6. 2 Beers
7. Fresh Lime Soda

Amongst the appetizers, i was really impressed with the Shredded Duck bao and the Chicken Dumplings. The crispiness of the bao , combined with the accompanied dips made this dish an outstanding one.
Soy sauce and Basil pesto dip is a must have when having these dishes as it complements it in every way possible.
Nothing can be said regarding the noodles and chicken, because this is a dish that is always made to perfection in any Asian restaurant that I've visited.
At the end I would like to say that the overall experience was splendid.
Service was great and the food was excellent.
This place can easily be called one of the best joints for Asian fine dining in Kolkata. There is nothing not to like about this place located centrally in the restaurant hub of the city.

Coming to the food , we ordered :

Bhetki and chips(4.5/5) : A simple and classic bhetki fry coated in some tempura batter and served with a wasabi mayo dip. Some classic combinations can never really go wrong.

Pork Ramen bowl(5/5) : Had been wanting to have a hearty bowl of Ramen for a long while and this ramen certainly stood up to all my expectations. Some lean pork , black noodles , bokchoy , sprouts , shitake mushrooms , all in a light and spicy broth. Added some chilli paste for that extra burst of flavor in the mouth. Highly recommend this dish.

Teriyaki chicken and rice bowl(5/5) : A bowlful of shredded chicken, sticky rice and Asian greens tossed in my favorite teriyaki sauce. Simple and comforting flavors , all in a bowl.

Lamb Rendang Curry with Malabar Paratha(5/5) : This dish is a must have if you visit here. A thick coconut based gravy with a hint of kaffir lime , and small cubes of mutton. I have always felt restaurants here tend to overuse Thai spices in their Thai dishes , this place being an exception and a welcome change. This dish was probably the one that completely won my heart.

I would also like to mention about their staff , especially Debasish , who was appointed for our table. He not only possessed good knowledge about what goes into making a dish , but also I was pleasantly surprised to hear some facts about some spices that even I did not know.

The best mocktails in the city. However it is on the pricier side. The food gets kind of repetitive and some of the items are just average. A good place overall!

Pings will definitely remind you of the streets of Thailannd. This cozy comfortable cafe is a must visit.
What we liked :
1) Dry Chicken
2) Chicken Bao
3) Chocolate marque (must try)
4) efficient service

Disappointments :
1) 10% Compulsary service tax is indeed a pinch in the pocket.

The food is very tasty. I just think it is overpriced, drinks included or maybe especially, are overpriced. For a casual dining experience I wouldn't want to create such a dent in my wallet.

Excellent food but a little over priced !! Barely saw through the menu and went by the suggestions of Debashish who was serving us, and he surely knows his business, no regrets whatsoever on ordering whatever he suggested !! Will surely visit again

Don't you just loathe the feeling when a restaurant which comes highly recommended turns out to be an utter disappointment? This review is just about that. Did not even want to write a review but would like to save others from being well ' heart and stomach broken' if I may say so.
Visited the restaurant on 19-07-2019, Friday with my family. There were 6 adults & 2 children. Being early diners we reached the place at 7pm.

Orders:

1.Soup:

>Tom yum- was really well made. Perfectly balanced but definitely not a prelude to what was about to follow.

>Mushroom and asparagus soup- was ok.

2. Starters:

>Philadelphia cream cheese dimsums:

Nothing extraordinary, just basic cream cheese, really small bite sized 4 pcs In one portion. Did not get taste of any mushroom in it.

>Spinach tempura bao:

Was ok.

>Highway style beancurd:

The tofu was really soft, nicely made but extra salt in it.

>3 mushrooms and asparagus:

The mushrooms were so thinly sliced that could not get the taste of it. Again extra salt. Quantity on the lower band.

3. Main course:

>Stir fried exotic veg: average

Black bean jam broccoli: supposedly their signature dish, was better than the rest of the stuff.

>Hakka noodles : you can't go wrong with this.

>Veg fried rice: a roadside stall selling it for Rs 50 probably does a better job. Poor rice quality, even poorer preparation.

>Fresh spinach and mushroom sticky rice :

Was the saviour in our main course. Well made.

>Phad thai: the worst I ever had, seems like a cross between Italian pasta and roadside Chinese noodles. Filled with some cheap tomato sauce or derivative of it.

The disappointments:

1. Service : They charge 10% service charge and strangely there was no fixed waiter for our table. Everytime a new face taking the order and a new server which was irksome. The waiters had a non chalant attitude. In fact in our reorder of Tom yum soup the lady at the reception first refused to do 1x2 , stating that they don't halve their soups. I said you just did it 10 mins ago, your restaurant policy changed just now?

2. Portions : Are way too less compared to other joints with similar per head cost.

3. Quality and preparation: Other than Tom yum soup nothing comes to my mind which was worth remembering. No unique preparations, just fancy names on the menu for all the dishes.

4. Cheapness: we opted for dineout gourmet passport, with 3 complimentary items. They don't give it on starters which is alreday mentioned in their rules. But even on main course they gave it on the 3 cheapest items-hakka noodles and 2 rice. ( See photo of bill)

Agreed, that it's at the discretion of the restaurant which dishes they deem to give complimentary. Ideally it's of the same or lesser value. Most restaurants do a mix of both. They gave it on the least priced items on the menu. That is sheer stinginess.

Conclusion:

You go to eat out to have good food, food which stimulate your palate, which make you happy. Fancy names and interiors are only good for attracting intial crowd. In the long run, it's the food that matters.

I would not be giving this place a second chance. In fact we were so disappointed that we skipped desserts and went to ' patisserie by franziska' on Russell Street to atleast redeem the night somehow and we were not wrong with the decision.

We made our displeasure known in our feedback at the restaurant, all we got was a perfunctory apology call.

The bill came to 4500 in 7 adults ( counting 2 kids as one) after a roughly 800 discount without desserts that's roughly 650 per head otherwise it could be easliy 900-1000 per head. Not worth it. Much better options on park Street as well as elsewhere. Certainly not ' pinging ' here again.

Alternatives :

1. Mama goto
2. Soi 19
3. Bar b q
4. Pa pa ya ( 1200-1500 per head)
5. Asia kitchen
6. The wall
7. Mainland China.

One of my favourite places! Such a great place for. Gin lunch with the bestie. service is impeccable ( most of the times) food is good. Some dishes can be super heavy on garlic so let them know your preference, they will accommodate. Dim sums are awesome! So are the tofu dishes.

This should be on your must visit places for Asian Food if you are a Kolkatan or if you are coming to Kolkata. I had the Pork Char Siu Bao, Spicy Beef Salad and Nasi Goreng with Pork Skewers. I must say all them were fabulous. I had not had beef so succulent and so melt in the mouth in a while. The Pork in the Bao was so perfectly done too. The Nasi Goreng- I think I had a better one at Waldorf's but all in all a well rounded experience. They have a good array of cocktails and the Cuba Libre that I ordered was amazingly concocted. It was just so right ! Thumbs Up Guys ! Good Effort ! Only thing, I was not a fan of the seating arrangements, and do try to install a good internet network, card swipe hassles leave a bad aftertaste...

The most unfriendly b rude staff ever seen. We had a reservation of 14 pax. They provided a table which cant accommodate more than 10 with 11 chairs. They said they dont have more chairs. We pulled 2 chairs from another table which was empty n sat. The manager came n asked to vacate tge chairs as it belonged to the other table. Truly disgusting as if we had gone to eat there for Free! Food ambience everything is good.. but the staff and managements behaviour makes it a horrible place to visit ever again!

The ambience is great the food is very good right from their starters to the mains to the dessert Philadelphia cheese dumplings is a must order the staff here is extremely warm and welcoming which makes the entire experience great

Debashish, an absolute hero with his recommendations. Wok fried pork belly with lime is the best pork dish I've had in the city (and I've had a lot!) That and chocolate marquise are unmissable, must haves. Also I'd appreciate it if you guys add cheesecake to your menus since you do desserts so well (beetroot lemongrass panaco - super jiggly!) Suggestion: Ask the chef to add more wasabi to the dynamite shrimp.

Some of the stuff we ordered:
Rice with pad ka prao (the sauce was wonderful)
Spicy chicken and Peking chicken dimsums (flavourful and juicy)
Chicken teriyaki bao (really good!)
Spicy chicken salad (unnecessarily acidic)
Pho noodle soup (perfectly flavoured)

We went during lunch time, and it was a little packed. Service and staff were nice, and the drinks from the bar were really good too.
We had: the peach sangria, chasing summer, and forbidden tiki. All three were very refreshing and had fruity tastes.
Will definitely go back!

Perfect hangout for teenagers. Park street is a hub of best restaurants with different cuisines . Many colleges and offices are there. I think basically for the students it is chillax place to hangout.

Ambience is so club like and more like british cafes kind of place with beautiful music going in the background. Mainly this place is famous for Asian foods including dumplings, dimsums, some japanese foods, some thailand foods, some korean foods!!

Quality and quantity is really appreciable and that too in a reasonable price.

Also its a great place for family hangouts too.

Staffs are really polite and warming.

Very famous among college goers.

I had wok tossed dynamite shrimp. It was super yummy.must try..you guys should totally try it!

I had chicken yakitori..this was super good too but a little bit salty

and i had chicken gyoza which tastes more like a dumpling guys !! This was really good i must say guyssss

Located few blocks from Peter Cat, this Park Street cafe is such a delight. We had gone on a busy Saturday noon without booking and on seeing the crowd I was pretty sure we have to wait for a long time. But extremely helful staff and management and their quick service ensured we get a table very soon. I was particularly blown by the Philly cheese dimsums. We tried the other dimsums and sushis and my sushi-loving heart was extremely happy with each one. Mind you the servings are quite a lot for 2 people and we over ordered - fish, Singapore street food styled rice and chicken and the amazing baos. Must go back for more.

Loved the place. Have been here with friends. Lovely music and good food...
Philadelphia cream cheese dumplings were heaven 😍
Rest evry snacks and main course were amazing...
I love this place and keep on getting back here again and again. The Philadelphia cream cheese mushroom dumplings are amazing here! The stir fried lamb is also good. All the dumplings are worth trying out atleast once. I am in love with the sangria of this place. They use Raspberry in the preparation which makes the taste even more memorable!

Ping pong Kolkata
Food ordered -
Soup- tom yum
Cheese dimsums
Chicken dumplings
Green Thai curry with sticky rice
Chicken curry
Garlic noodles
Drinks- sangria
Dessert - chocolate
Rating 4/5
Simply loved this place for amazing food
The only reason I am rating it 4/5 is because of the dessert.
I really think they can do better in case of dessert.
Recommendation to people visiting ping pong- definitely try cheese dimsums, they literally are one of the finest and bursts in your mouth.
Firstly, let me clarify that my rating is 3.5 before I pen down my complete review.

A chic oriental cafe. Beautiful decor and ambience. Coming to food and drinks,we had--
•Dark and stormy-- a citrusy yet spicy rum based drink. This was really good.
•Lemon drop-- sweet and tangy. Great if you like your cocktails to be a bit sweet.
•Dry chicken-- a flavourful crispy chicken with a good dose of garlic
•Charcoal roast pork skewers-- sweet melt-in-mouth pork belly. The sauce was really good.
•Chicken gyoza-- nothing special. Standard chicken dumplings
•Drunken noodles-- again nothing special. It was kind of okay.
•Bibimbap-- did not like this. The rice wasn't really sticky rice. The dish as a whole was very very salty. Not authentic.
Overall, the service was good. The staff were good. But was disappointed with most of what we ordered (the main course mainly). The amount with respect to the price was not justified. So yeah, that's about it. Would recommend it for starters and drinks.

I usually like the food and the place. But I've seem to hit a bump here.
Upon multiple visits I found a touch of arrogance in the staff and management which is unwanted. Other restraunts are far more polite.
Yesterday night we went to dine in and all 4 of us ended up having food poisining which is pathetic. So I am quite done with the place now.

Foods and Ambiance are nice, but overpriced , its may be because of the place Park Street. Staffs are courteous and well behaved. Over all a good place for family and friends.

Absolutely loved my meal here, pings has been on the cards for quite some time but somehow never managed to go. Asian food is a weakness for me and pings transported me elsewhere. Memories of Thailand and Singapore were refreshed.

The signature cream cheese dumplings were like magic on the tastebuds. Velvety rich and the contrast of Chili oil created harmony on the palette

The duck bao was absolutely scrumptious. The meat was beautifully cooked and the baos were like clouds, there was a riot of textures on the mouth.

Absolutely adored the nasi goreng. Tad bit higher on the soy but the flavors were so authentic and made me fall in love with the entire dish. One of the closest to the ones I've had abroad.

Cannot miss out on the duck spring roll either. Crisp on the outside and soft inside with robust flavors much. Loved it!

Loved the smart use of space and the decor assures me that the place was made with a lot of love.

Overall a brilliant experience and can't wait to go back again.

I heard soo many things about this place that I decided to give it a try.

The food tasted delicious however the price and the quantity doesn't match. For this high price we can expect better quantity and better ambience. Of course the ambience matters as well as the food. But food is the main thing so let's focus on that.

I ordered

1. Crispy Prawn Bao: 2 pieces for Rs. 845. As I mentioned earlier the taste was too good but the quantity was not that great. The bao size was also not that big but I don't think I will go back and spend my money for this little quantity

2. Duck Stewed Rice : Could have been better but it tasted good but for the price I don't think it's worthy of Rs. 645. Again the quantity was less.

3. Hot Chocolate Foam : Gosh this was amazing the Preperation and the taste is just too good. No complain about this one
I had visited the place on a saturday and it was fairly crowded.
The sitting is pretty small and the sitting up the staircase is too low level (you need to mind ur step)
The DJ could have done much better!

Now coming to food!
The food was really good! But the pocket pinch 😭 is sad!
Like for that price point you would want much better ambience or great quantity!
The cream cheese dimsums were too lil for 365 for the tiniest 4 pc dimsum , but it really tasted good!
The wok fried lamb was one of my favourites
The duck stew rice was also good!
Thai mint refresher (i dont remember the name exactly) was also good but again mocktails have more quantity than this almost everywhere!

So overall nice tasty food with a hefty pocket pinch!
Sayantani Bhowmik
This is the 2nd time am visiting this place and i like the ambience and the food both.
It is always crowded during the weekends and the crowd itself says that this place is a must try.
The food out here is delicious.
The starter and the main course, both are awesomely tasty.
The food served here is always an absolute delight..
The photos are that of:
1. Nasi goreng: served with prawn papad, chutney, chicken skewers, and flavoured rice with poached egg.
2. Thai red curry which is served with sticky rice
3. Chili pork dry which is moderately spicy
4. Diced chicken extrememly flavoursome
5. Tom yum spup which was astounding
6. Dimsums
Quirky interiors, snazzy cocktails and polite staff, that kind of sums up my experience at Ping's. They were nice enough to accommodate my girlfriend and me even though they had advance reservation, don't know how they managed, but grateful nonetheless

Went with family on a Sunday afternoon. The starters that we ordered were abosolutely class A. The Duck Bao is far better than any other bao I have tasted in Kolkata. The array of sauces are also splendid. Each has its own unique flavour . The only suggestion I would give is that the quantity or portions of the main course should be slightly increased given the price. Most of the noodles are not even a single serve. Though the taste was far superior to other places that serve this sort of food the dismal portions should be given more attention. Will visit again soon😊👍
This property has hosted many restaurants, Bistro by the Park, Amber Cafe to name a few. It's not a huge restaurant with staggering number of tables but there is something about it's size that says alot. It's a small place but a lot of detail in Ambience. Moving on to the food, we tried Gyoza and Spicy Chicken in Dumplings and both tasted good. Gyoza was opening up the palette more and hence more points to Gyoza, the chicken was not dry and cooked perfectly. For the mains we ordered Hakka Noodles and Chicken with Chilli. Hakka Noodles was okay and it was matching standards with a decent restaurant, on odd days the 'decent' restaurant would make better hakka noodles in terms of taste. Chilli with chicken was a let down because it was Devil's Chicken with some addons. Thumbs up to the starters. We also ordered Lemongrass Spiced Ice Tea, the spices and star anise was overpowering the tea which was personally a big let down for me.

This place has been on my list for a while hence I booked a table for four on 1/6/19 using dineout. The reservation was confirmed. We reached there at 7pm. However, the restaurant refused to give us a table and argued that even though we had a confirmation mail, we should've called the restaurant. They had no logic for this argument except for their self satisfaction. Finally they agreed to give us a table if we can vacate it by 9pm. We refused to be there with a time line as it was totally unethical on their part. They didn't budge and wanted us to follow a timeline irrespective of any rules, logic or ethics. I left the place as behavior and service stand more important than the food. It was unproffessional and rude on their part to deny a confirmed booking and set a timeline for the guests. We might have left earlier but it could also be stretched.... How can they force us to follow a time line and act as if they are obliging us by providing a table, even though we have a confirmed booking!!!
