Review Macazzo - Kolkata (Calcutta)

Very good cafe near to Rabindra Sarovar. It serves very good quality of food in medium upper range of price. Quantity is adequate and sufficient. Taste according to me is close to perfect. We tried their very famous Chicken and Mushroom Lasagna Pasta which tasted very unique and came with garlic bread. We also tried their chicken stroganauff which was decent in taste. Their have a underground sitting and upper sitting.. both decorated meticulously accompanied by retro Hollywood music. Atmosphere was 10/10. Staff behaviour is very friendly and cordial. Service is almost fast. Liked and must recommend.

I had the pleasure of visiting this cafe cum restaurant recently and it surpassed all my expectations. The ambiance is simply lovely - cozy lighting, comfortable seating, and tasteful decor which makes it a perfect place to unwind and enjoy a delicious meal. The food here is exceptional and fresh - from the salads to the desserts, everything is well-crafted and flavorsome. The dishes are not only tasty but also presented beautifully, which makes the whole dining experience even more delightful. The staff here are incredibly polite, attentive, and make you feel right at home. They are knowledgeable about the menu and go the extra mile to ensure that each guest is satisfied with their meal. The hygiene and cleanliness of the place are also commendable, and it is evident that the management takes great pride in maintaining high standards. All in all, this is a wonderful cafe cum restaurant that I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys good food and great service in a beautiful setting. A bit on the costlier side, but the vibe and the atmosphere of American rock from the 70s won't disappoint... 1. Darjeeling pork platter 600/- 2. Salisbury steak (chicken) - a steak of minced meat...the peri peri sauce was quite spicy 3. Chicken au gratin The quantity of steak and au gratin was sufficient but I felt the platter was a bit on the lesser end. Overall a good experience..

Had tasted their hog lover's pizza and fish n chips. For the meat lovers the pizza would be heavenly. The Service was bit slow. Nice playlist though. Cozy ambience and loved the decor.

A hidden gem of a cafe with a cinephile atmosphere! Chanced upon it during my Puja hopping and was blown away by their retro feel. You have to navigate a rather steep spiral staircase to reach the basement dining area but for me, that was part of the charm. Coming to the food, it's good. We had some Chinese fare and a Stroganoff. The preparation is good and portion size is acceptable. It won't blow you away but you'll probably come away satisfied. Recommend a visit!

Awesome place with awesome foods. As I'm a YouTuber I must said they provide quality food. And also there ambiance with full of retro theme with Hollywood style. One of the best resturent in Kolkata. They also a sitting area in underground and also they don't charge any GST. As we saw one small sitting place can charge GST but they don't it is one of the plus point. And I ordered the foods. Like Healthy platter which cost 250/-, Veg Fried Rice 180/- and Black Chilly Chicken which is there signature dish cost 280/-. All items are tasty and impressive. I must say that their food is absolutely amazing! Every dish I tried was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection.The presentation of the dishes was also impressive and added to the whole experience. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the entire dining experience a delight. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit for anyone who appreciates delicious food. Highly recommended!

This a place where you can go to chitchat with your friends with some good food and also u can suggest to those who are planning for a small reunion with friends.. A nice place but their sitting arrangements failed to impress me.. and they took a little bit more time to serve the order,need to wait quite a long for the items to be served.. Now coming to the food they tastes nice.. Ordered -Kiwi Mojito, Brownie shake, Iced Coffee, Pulled apork loaded french fries & Barbeque chicken onion and cheese.. Drinks were refreshing but I found the shake and the iced coffee were too sweet.. The sandwich was yummy.. Overall an average experience had there.. looking forward for an outstanding one next time.. This is one of the best places in the city for pork dishes. Tried a lot of things from their menu, don't miss their hog lovers reloaded which is of 6 inches, it's expensive at around 530. But if you go for the 12 inch one, you get four times the quantity for double the price, which is a good deal. We also tried their platters like Pork Mixed Grill and Darjeeling Pork platter and steaks like the pork tenderloin steak and Salisbury steak. The place is expensive and wait times are long but you'll not regret it for the absolutely drop down gorgeous amazing food, beautiful music and ambience and overall quality of service.

very nice ambiance. ordered a bunch of food. tastes were very good especially the wings. a must try. tried the pulled pork burger. it was scrumptious and sloppy. don’t order if you don’t like messy food but it was perfect for me. the prices are on the expensive side. highly recommend to a pork lover.

There's a saying Happiness doesn't last forever. This saying doesn't work at Macazzo at all. They say Even the happiest person alive will at some point feel unhappy. But if you ever feel sad Macazzo is a place to stop by and explore and you'll never be disappointed. All your sadness will vanish. Whatever you try here you'll be spellbound.

This cafe emits a retro rock vibe. Personally, I liked the ambience. If you're into rock, this place is a go for you. Coming to food, I ordered Chicken Hawaiian(topped with pineapples)pizza, one latte and Chicken Alfredo. The paasta was very rich, I liked the texture of it. The pizza crust was a bit hard, this could be improved. The latte was just fine.

This was not my first visit to macazzo...It was my 2nd. We went there a long time back when we newly discovered the restaurant with it's fantastic reviews! The place was truly not a disappointment. Infact the manager and the staff were so polite adding to the vibrant ambience of the place! The first time we probably ordered a meat platter and something else which I don't remember now but both were heavenly! Specially the meat platter! And ya thumbs up as they have no extra taxes. But However after the GST and all, we were afraid that they might have extra taxes so afraid a little we went there and kept our order restricted to a lasagna and a pork burger! The burger was served with delicious french fries and the lasagna was "out of the world taste"!!! A complete 10/10 for that. What I felt could be improved was the burger. Though it was very tasty, I thought maybe it could have been a little well cooked..Anyways our apetite was full to the brim so we didn't have to order anything extra. But the most interesting part of our sudden visit was there was again no extra taxes which made our day the best! I'd sure be returning to the place to taste the different items! Highly recommended!

With so many cafes and restaurants all around Kolkata, Macazzo definitely gave me a different hint of feeling the moment I stepped inside it. Starting from the well decorated interiors, to such well mannered people serving us and not to forget the food. The food is something which will instigate me to visit it once again. I ordered Darjeeling Platter(Chicken) and Bourbon glazed BBQ Chicken - they totally lived up to my expectations specially the Darjeeling platter.It had chicken sausages,salamis, meat loaf , buttered toast. The meat was well cooked and it was soft and tender. The Bourbon glazed BBQ Chicken too was nice but the platter just swept me off my feet. Other than the food, the place will give a Hollywood cinematic vibe to it's customers; which is very different from any other cafes in the city.Those wall hangings, lights portrays some of the iconic Hollywood movies are a treat for all movie lovers. The place is not so spacious and the tables are a bit too small.customers have to wait for their turn at the time of peak hours but it's worth it coz the food is delicious. This is a perfect place to hang out and is very affordable. The average cost for two people is 500 and one added advantage is that they don't charge extra tax. So , here if you r reading this review and if you haven't visited MACAZZO , I recommend you to go to.the place at least once.

Perfect place. Nice ambience. Food is extraordinary. We took fish fingers, greenwich pizza, darjeeling platter and three coolers. They were so delicious. And staff in there were very friendly. A must go.

this is an awsm place. i went there today with my best frnd and we both loved it. we ordered a lot...ate a lot . the food was really vry good . the owner was vry vry good and polite. he enquired abt evrythng and made evrythng perfect by himself...and it felt quite warm . the best thing i had today was macazzo's chocolate pizza. It just made my day :) thank u sooo much . i wish to visit macazzo again vry soon.

I liked the ambience...the decoration of this cafe was eye catching and extremely attractive...if you wanna enjoy with your friends you can surely visit this cafe....then comes the food...we ordered chicken patiala pizza which was damn tasty..We ordered pasta too though I don't remember the name but it was yummy as well...but what disappointed me was their service...they served our food very late...other than that everything was just perfect...the staff and the owner of this cafe were very courteous...

Decor minimal. Tables very small. Lampshades adorned with Hollywood stars. Tissue holders are old ep records remoulded. We had Hindustan Music ep of Debabrata Biswas. We had Mojito and Fresh Lime Soda. Very refreshing and served in unusual containers. Starters consisted of Chicken wings (8 pieces). Generously coated with sesame and honey these wings were very tasty. For the main dish we had Chicken mixed grill with wine jus which was served with potato mash.,parsley rice and garlic bread. The chicken consisted of roasted chicken, sausages and kebabs along with some vegetables. Awesome and quantity wise more than enough for two. We had also packed Gondhoraj chicken curry which was served with steamed rice. In fact all the items were taken in single plates and quantity adequate for two. Price compares very favorably with quantity and quality. A strong recommendation for others. For us we have resolved to visit the place once again for testing the other items.

Love the place! Been here with my boyfriend and with a group of food enthusiasts on two different occasions. Went bonkers over their hot chocolate and darjeeling chicken platter. On my second visit I ordered a cappuccino only. I am not fond of western coffee as I am complete into South indian filter coffee but the cappuccino here was very good! Prices are pocket friendly too! Looking forward to go back soon.

I went there with my friends and the restaurant was in the best location. The ambience and music taste was also such classy. And food was also extremely fine. We ordered some pork dishes with chicken dishes and trust me pork dish was extraordinary and highly recommended.

They can’t even make basic cheese sandwiches. Stale cheese was served in the chicken sandwich. Cold coffee was without any smell of coffee and tasteless as diluted milk. Green tea wa horrible. As a sides of sandwiches they served lays’s chips!!

So firstly starting with the ambience its really very classy, but actually we thought of sitting in the upper floor but they told us some work was going so we settled in the ground floor only.<br/>In food I liked the pork side dish alot, it was so tender and soft and also it was very delicious.<br/>The noddle was also very tasty.<br/>The blue mocktail was really very refreshing.<br/>Only thing that I didn't like that is they took alot of time to serve the food as we were very hungry we felt a bit annoyed.<br/>But overall it was a nice experience will definitely visit again.<br/>Pork dishes is highly recommended

This restaurant is situated at a great location....they serve continental food....food tests good...though there is a place for improvement.... ambiance is cozy & lovely decor.... they took little bit long to serve...in my opinion they should improve in this.. otherwise a nice place to hangout with friends.

Sweet Chilli Chicken Wings: It was not at all satisfactory... The coating was very hard and the meat was not that tasty... Although it is their Signature dish... May be it was off day...<br/>3. Crispy Fish Sandwich: It was decent in taste...<br/>4. Fried Chicken Burger: It was not at all good...<br/>5. Nawabi Shake: It was really outstanding...<br/>6. Kiwi Mojito: Good in taste but the fizz was missing...<br/>Also we ordered couple of drinks too... Which were also decent enough... <br/>Quantity wise all the dishes and beverages are very satisfying... But form our friend who recommended the place we came to know that these was not their best... So, I have given a benefit of doubt to them... I will visit them again to try out their famous pork platter... <br/>But when we got the bill we understand why everyone is liking the place so much... From The Joint to Macazzo. This is what true evolution is. Bitan's previous endeavor, The Joint, has always  been one of my very favorites haunts during our regular Saturday escapades. But once he changed his venue to Southern Avenue, and took the initiative of Macazzo, I didn't have the opportunity to visit this place until today after four long years. <br/>And today, I leave this restaurant with some memories probably to be cherished for the rest of my life.  <br/>My experience started with a spiral staircase leading to the basement, which is a thing of awe itself. The ambiance gave a vibe, spanning from 60's Hollywood to 80's Rock n Roll. Starting from the decor, the lighting to the music, it actually makes you feel at home. We ordered a Grilled Chicken Steak with Bacon and Cheese and the standard Darjeeling Pork Platter along with some Masala Thums-Up to wash it down. <br/><br/>"The Darjeeling Pork Platter" is something die for. The succulent pieces of bacon pieces along with sufficient helping of sausages and ham is a pork lover's dream come true.  <br/><br/>I was saving the best for the last. "The Grilled Chicken Steak with Bacon and Cheese" is a dish made in heaven. The luscious grilled chicken piece soaked in the gracious amount of cheese sauce coupled with the sides of French fries made me ask for more. The portions are apt for a couple to enjoy. <br/><br/>A few final words about this place - This initiative deserves a standing ovation. Once you visit it, you will come back for more.

I could kill for their Bailey's Hot Chocolate. The pork platters they serve are mind blowing. The chef has selected items from different parts of the Globe and Country and given it a twist of his own... Went there twice till date... And both experiences were awesome.

We visited on a sunday afternoon.Ambience is good,cozy,staffs are welcoming and gives good suggestions. We ordered roast pork and chorizo lasagne and ginger gondhoraj roast pork from Macazzo.Accompanied by Spanish hot chocolate and Irish hot chocolate.<br/><br/>Both the dishes were super delicious. The chorizo in the lasagne were perfect,melt in the mouth. The roast pork dish had a nice balance of flavours,slightly caramelised sweet with the pungency of onions and the sudden whiff of Gandharaj. Meat to fat ratio about 70-30<br/><br/>The hot chocolate were heaven. Thick,dark,less sweet. Extremely filling and satisfying<br/><br/>Portion size was good for the price

Had the following:<br/>1) Pork Chops with BBQ Sauce - Pork was very tender and juicy, with very little of fat. However, the BBQ sauce did not taste like authentic BBQ sauce, but mixed with some other ingredients making it strange tasting. Not something I will have again.<br/>2) Mishti Doi Cheesecake - It was not a cheesecake, but a frozen dessert. Not something I enjoyed having.

Macazzo, located near Lake Kalibari, was recommend to me by some of my friends. We visited them last night and it was an really amazing experience.<br/>They have two sections, one on ground floor and other was on basement. Basement was lot more spacious. Ambience was also nice. There were old posters of foreign music bands, cameras, cassettes hanging from the wall.<br/>Coming to the food, we had Roasted Pork BBQ, Pulled Pork Beacon Fries, Pork Steak BBQ, Pork Chop Peri Peri, Pork Mixed Grill and Pork Platter. Pork BBQ was nice and a bit sweet. Pulled Pork was absolutely amazing. It had French Fries on top and meat under that. Pork Platter had four to five different items, like Pork Chop, Sausage, Ham along with some vegetables and egg. I had Pork Chop on Peri Peri sauce. It was little spice and a bit sweet and was really nice. One of friends had Pork Steak with BBQ sauce and Pork Mixed Grill.<br/>It was an amazing experience. We enjoyed every dish and their behavior was also very polite. Pricing also seemed reasonable. Overall, it is one of the best place to have Pork in Kolkata.

The owner was really courteous and cordial to everyone.. ordered Chicago 12" barbeque pizza with Blue lagoon and Kiwi Mojito.. they were just delicious.. while writing this review I can still remember the taste.. went there on Mahashasti but the quality of food was really commendable.. hats off to the stuffs and the management team..

A great location with a cozy environment, this place is perfect for a romantic dinner. It serves all kinds of continental foods and they are very much within the reach of the budget of the middle class. However, they can improve on food preparation time and serving.

Ordered Messi's favourite Milanesa Napolitana which I liked a lot. We also ordered grilled chicken and mushroom steak, augratin lasagna etc other dishes. All the dishes were very well prepared. The place is a must try.

Went here during Pujo and luckily didn't have to wait much longer. The ambience is nice, it's a quaint cafe. The posters are very nice, has a very vintage feel to the place.<br/><br/>Their food is very affordable and great quality. We had French Fries and the Pork Lasagna. The lasagna is a must try! It had huge chunks of pork and was so cheesy, loved it.<br/><br/>Will definitely go back again to try more of their meat dishes.<br/><br/>PS: the washroom is a little messy and had a slight odour, otherwise perfect.

Strategically located in the corner of southern Avenue, it's pretty close to "Rabindra Sarovar" metro station.<br/>There are two floors comfortably sitting 50 people.<br/>The decor and music is heavily influenced by retro "rock and roll". The collection of vintage cameras give a feel of a "celluloid museum".<br/>The food options are just mind-blowing with choice of fish/pork/ chicken and veg too.<br/>This is one of those rare places in Kolkata which does "pork chops" perfectly!<br/>The staff is extremely courteous and the owner is a chef himself who visits regularly to interact with the customers.<br/>I would say overall a must place for meat lovers and I would definitely visit again and again and again!!!

This place has an Instagram worthy interior decoration. The staffs are courteous and polite. As we visited during the puja the service time was a bit long but that's justified. Coming to the food it's better to go with the staffs' recommendation as we regret ordering one item as it was way too spicy but then also loved my experience there.

Wow!!! This is a real gem in the heart of Southern Avenue. I went in here during the Durga Pujo. Firstly , the decor its so well thought and well desinged. The idea is just superb. Secondly , the staffs, even at 12 in the night , they were super courteous. The serve time was a bit high , probably that's because of the high volume during the pujos.Now the food , they dont serve alcohol, hence no cocktails . But their Kiwi Mojito is great.<br/><br/>We had ordered Chicken Wings and Pork in Wild Buffalo Sauce. Both were lip smacking.<br/><br/>For mains , we ordered , Xacuti , Grilled Fish with Mustard and Cream Sauce & Stroganoff with Herbed Rice. The Grilled Fish was the best among them.<br/><br/>The portion size was also quite good and the pocket pinch is moderate , considering the delight they provide with their food. Well , I would highly recommend the Pork and Kiwi Mojito .<br/>

I would definitely go back to this place soon. There's nothing negative about this cafe. Superb service, awesome food, great ambience. What's best is that the quantity they provide is more than enough for two people.

Apart from the starters, everything else were horrible. Smelly fish, undercooked bacon, undercooked chicken to name a few.

Now this is a special place for me.<br/>Had my first ever date over here.<br/>The basement is the place to sit if you're looking for some privacy. With a old school country style decor, the ambience speaks for itself. Try hot chocolate and pork platter, some dishes you won't get everywhere.

One of a kind ambience, beautifully decorated interiors. Moderate serving time. A great variety of sumptuous food . The only issue we faced was the non availability of quite a few dessert options. One which was on the top of our bucket list. The famous oreo cheesecake. Whatever we were served was great both to look at and taste.

It is themed like the retro pop culture with Beatles forming a major portion of their wall hangings. It is situated on two floors ...one at ground level and one underground!!<br/>Also the food😍 it's simply amazing! I ordered the Darjeeling pork platter which was a treat to the soul. A brilliant place for steaks. Have tried their Keventers non veg platter, chicken wings, hot chocolate, chicken steak in mushroom sauce. They take time to make their steaks but buoy they are good at this. Absolutely well cooked juicy pieces of meat dipped in heavenly sauce with the sides transports you to a unique food trip of your own. Hot chocolate is also highly recommended. Definitely give this joint a try peeps

Lovely decore with a very cosy and comfortable ambience. The food tastes really good. People who like English breakfast should obviously pay a visit to this place atleast for once. Meats of every dishes are really tender and juicy. They do play nice tracks as well... Looking forward to see this place real soon.

A warm and cozy cafe situated on Southern Avenue, Macazzo has a friendly vibe to it. The decor and ambience is very cheerful and vibrant. The staff is friendly and the service prompt.<br/>We had ordered cheesy fries topped with pulled pork and bacon, fire on the rocks and mocha shake.<br/>The fries were savoury and very filling. The mocha shake was good. The Fire on the rocks, however was too spicy for our palate. Overall the quality and the quantity of the food were great. 'Value for money' indeed.

They should work on their portions given that the price is a bit on the higher side. Apart from that, great food. If you are visiting, try the downstairs section, it's way better and can be a great place for a clandestine dinner date.

The decor of this place is simply magical for the Classical Rock English Song lover. A very polite service but they just accepted the criticism for the food without any complimentary offerings in its stead. The continental dishes we tried out were cooked to the optimum. An overall nice place to hangout with friends when it's not crowded.

This place in southern avenue has a very nice decor. Well it was a sudden plan here and very much satisfied we tried cheesy Alfredo pasta and one pizza also we had one beverage I really forgot the name sorry but coming to the I really enjoyed the pasta it was too creamy and nicely cooked pizza was also good but it was little bit sweet. Overall it was a good experience here.

Was pretty excited about this place as I heard it served delicious ranges of food and one of the must try dishes was the "Cheesy Fries". So one morning I went to have a whole hearted brunch here. I ordered the following dishes and after having the dishes I was pretty disappointed with the place and the food quality. The dishes I tasted was:<br/>1. Cheesy Fries topped with Bacon : Not at all impressed with this appetizer. It was too salty that after eating some amount I felt like puking.<br/>2. Chicken Stroganoff : A simple and elegant dish but same dish I have tasted better in other places.<br/>3. Mango Shake : For a hot summer morning, it was elegant.<br/>4. Brownie shake : The taste of brownie was missing from the shake and it felt like I was drinking normal chocolate shake.<br/><br/>Hence, it was a pretty bad experience from my side, visiting a cafe which has earned a name and serving low quality dishes.

We ordered a Chicken Pizza (exact name didn't remember), a blue lagoon and fresh lime soda. Pizza crust was thin and baked to perfection with the correct dose of cheese. I didn't like the blue lagoon at all. It was too sugary, fresh lime soda was perfect. The ambience was dimly lit in the basement. The upper seating area can't room a lot of people but well maintained and clean. Courteous staff who help you with the order; overall a nice experience.

This American cafe/ restaurant is a great place for the people who like trying out new food items everytime. The food quality is fantastic, same goes for the decor and ambience but I wish their staff service was better.

Fare pricing and good food. The pork chops, steak, vindaloo curry are A-May-Zing. Th decor is cool, especially if you sit on the lower level. Courteous staff and they have some pretty good desserts.

I found Macazzo after searching through Zomato and after reading the reviews and ratings i decided to visit this place.<br/>⭕Ambience - This restuarant is double floored and ambience is calm , silent and represents vintage tape records , famous musicians , cassettes.<br/>⭕Food - 🔸Cheesy fries topped with pulled pork and bacon : if you love cheese and french fries , this dish will be likeable. But somehow the combination of bacon and pork didnt go well with cheese and fries. The pork tasted too sweet and the fries were not at all crispy. But the quantity was great and its enough for 2 persons.<br/>🔸Sweet Chilli roast pork - this dish really disappointed me. roasted pork is a tested dish and generally never goes wrong. However this dish tasted really blunt and extremely sweet. It had too much seasoning of sesame seeds which was not enjoyable.<br/>🔸Brownie shake - Thankfully this was tasty and I enjoyed it. The sweetness was rightly balanced.<br/>🔸Fresh vanilla Hot chocolate - The chocolate was melting and tasted well. It was a little bitter.<br/>🔷Overall I went with high expectations but was hugely disappointed. Hopefully if I ever visit again and try other dishes , they will be good.

Visited one week ago.. This cafe has a very good staff and ambience.. The food was too good.. We ordered darjeeling pork platter, hog lovers pizza and kiwi mojito .. This is the perfect place for pork lovers. The ambience is silent, with interesting decors and very well behaved staff. The restaurant is two storied with ample seating arrangements. You will certainly find the basement much fascinating.<br/><br/>Absolutely impressed with the food here. We had the Darjeeling pork platter, served with bread toasts. The regular portion is adequate for two serves. But you should prefer the large for three or more people. The pork is one of the best available in townand the platter will bestow a variety of preparations.<br/><br/>Also tried their grilled chicken burger with salami and cheese. Fills you up and tastes awesome. You won't be disappointed with the premium you pay. The chicago pizza did have a thin crust, but way overloaded with chicken. Macazzo in short is a heaven for Pork Lovers in Kolkata. I've been to Macazzo twice now and each and every time I feel in love with their foods.<br/><br/>On our last visit, we ordered Darjeeling Pork Platter and Pork Chops with Smokey Bourbon BBQ sauce along with a couple of Coolers. First of all the Darjeeling Platter was amazing to say the least. Absolutely loved it. Specially the Bacons and the Ham. However the Pork Chop actually won the day and our heart. The pork was cooked amazingly well. It was so juicy and tender. This was one of the best Pork Chops we had.<br/><br/>Macazzo is one of my current favorite in the city and would love to visit them again soon to try out their different delicacies.

The worst thing about living in north kolkata is that all your favourite go to restaurants are in south and you cannot visit them as often as you want. Macazzo is definitely in the list of my go to-s.<br/>The place has a soothing interior. It has 2 sitting arrangements. Both are nice and has a cafe like environment. The staffs and the owner himself are very well behaved. You must ask for a recommendation when you are here.<br/>They prepare excellent pork chops and ribs. I tried one of their cheese stuffed chicken steak too. It was really nice. And their portion size is unquestionable. I am also a fan of their meat overload pizza. Its topped (overloaded) with 4-5 kinds of pork and chicken. Their cheese fries and wings are a must try. I love their cheesecakes too. It is a must visit.

We visited this place few days ago.. This place has two seperate sitting areas... They used guitar paintings to decorate the walls... The ambience was okayish.. Now coming into food we ordered Spanish hot chocolate it was tasty too
