I just love this place. a bit expensive as compared to other hotels but it's totally worthy because it will definitely makes you feel better once you taste the food just vist if you are a vegetarian then this is the perfect place for vegans.

The quality of food, behavior and service of the staff, and the ambience were highlights. We went on a Sunday afternoon, so got our food pretty quickly. We ordered plain diet dosa, masala dosa, and black coffee. The black coffee is really good! Overall, it was a good experience. Would recommend to any South Indian food lovers in Kolkata!

I went there today so I gave 1st star for place 2nd star for welcome and 3rd and 4th star for food. I didn't give last 1 star as the servicing was not very good, we had to ask for everything. But do please visit the place and here's the menu

TANMOY BASAK
First time to this place last weekend and was really superb. Just when I was beginning to feel that I had lost my craving for South Indian dishes, I tried this and faith is restored. This is certainly a really good Dosa place, but no frills at all. You get seated first, order and they serve you.
Operation Foodie....
The mushroom cheese dosa and the Idli finger chips is just phenomenal in taste. The filter coffee is mind boggling in taste and refreshing. The interior decor of the restaurant is classy and soothing. The foodies those who like south Indian food must visit this restaurant.

The Serving Wise This Restaurant doesn't offer good Quality food. The Dosa Which I ate is so Oily, a normal Person won't be able to have. Masala Dosa The Second Dosa was just served Half To me(not an entire dosa). This is so unprofessional!
Aman Gaulechha
This place definitely deserves the award for the best idly in town, hot and soft which breaks of in a bite. Had tried a coconut dosa, which was a normal dosa loaded with grated coconut. The sweet lassi after the meal was satisfying. Worth a visit.
Kartick Rao
I asked for my dosa to be soft And oil-free and that’s exactly how it was. I appreciate the fact they are Willing to customise your food.
Shashi Ranjan Goswami
The place is warm and homely, the food is simple and comforting.eating here is always a treat.

Bikash Chowdhury
South Indian is my Comfort food - I eat here very often and the food never disappoints. My favourite is the molgapodi idli
Omprakash Mahato
This place serves some of the best and crunchiest onion chilli vadas I’ve had. I tried the curd rice and the filter coffee which were also very good.definitely recommend the place to anyone who wants some simple South Indian food.
JITEN MODAK
I make it a point to visit this joint whenever I’m in the area. The gunpowder paper dosa and the dahi vada are my absolute favourites.
Lalit Mundhra
Really a bad experience, this one only serves south indian and service is so bad, we ordered Dosa which took almost 45 minutes , If anyone wants to try Pizza Dosa and Pizza Uttapam are good in taste, and sambhar chutney are ok only. Not recommended
Tanuj Gulani
Probably the best vegetarian joints in the city. The food is super fresh and delicious, extremely good service. A perfect place for a large group of friends or family.
Abi Foodie Girl
Authentic and tasty south Indian food.
Rohit Banka
Not been to this place but ordered many times.one of the best idli to have in kolkata.. It is extremely soft and chutney is to die for.Would like to try out other items as well. Price is a bit on the higher side compared to similar south Indian joints
Rajiv Oberoi
I would like to suggest to one and all that never ever visit this disgusting place. They charge you exorbitantly and insult you as well.Never in my wildest dream I would have expected this kind of unprofessional attitude.Iwill be the happiest person the Day this place put down Thier shutters.
Sakshi Oberoi
I wouldn't disagree with the fact that the food is good. But my biggest disappointment was that despite of paying such exorbitant price the waiters are completely untrained and don't have proper manners to talk . I just asked for a bowl of sambar and his comments were " I am giving you but don't waste the same in a very rude manner" I don't expect to hear such things while I am paying such exorbitant prices! Highly disappointed.

Packaging should be improved. The dosa was wrapped in foil but open from both the ends. And it was delivered by zomato in a scooter. Since it was a paper dosa, it was longer than the plastic packet and sticking out with an open end. God knows what all dust entered the dosa.

There is not even a single South Indian restaurant that I have visited and did not like. Kurry patta is no exclusion. The place has a very simple ambience and an amazing vibe. Food was also good. Simple and tasty. I had idli, masala Dosa, chilli onion uttapam and sambar vada. If I have to choose, I would say that plain vada was something that was just ok. Remaining dish were tasty. At the end, I also ordered filter coffee, which was also good. All in all, it was a good place and I would love to visit this place again.
Lamya Darukhanawala
So today evening I decided to give this place a try based on a cousins recommendation. I ordered a chilli cheese paper dosa and I was picking out on a few green chilies (picky eater problems ) and I spotted this small plastic screw in my food . I’m at present 8 months pregnant , I cannot even imagine what would have happened to me or even my unborn child had I swallowed this piece of plastic . On informing the manager , I overheard one of their employees saying “yeh kaise possible hoga, “chutiya” bana rahi hai “ . This is their overview regarding customer complaints . I’d just urge people who order from this restaurant to see their food and then consume it.
Vinita More
All their dishes are fresh and delicious. Have tried mostly all and have called home delivery too. Special mention for their chutney and sambhar. They are too good.
Varsha Manot
For all the south indian lovers its the best place to relish some dishes from the south...
Too good food, the dosas are amazing, idlis are extremely soft and now coming to sambar vada I really need to say I have not had so soft sambar vada yet.
For all the people who are really fond of Rava dosa then please go to this place. Enjoy the south indian delicacy in kolkata.
The staffs are really polite just one problem that the service is really slow
Geetika Goel
Doesn't even deserve one star ,went with friends group ,such rude behaviour of the staff .literally asking us to vacate coz we were chatting .
Monisha Selesh
Ordered molgapudi idli 1, onion chilli vada 1, filter coffee 1.
Taste - idli for my taste was decent, a little bit overcooked and sambar and chutney were ordinary. Molgapudi was scattered over my idli scantily. I asked for a bit more but I was informed I will be charged 40 RS extra for it. I liked onion chilli vada. It was hot and tasted good. Filter coffee was good as well.

Service - I was given 1 glass of water in a dirty glass which had marks around the edge which I hope were finger stains. I asked to change the water. The waiter who took my request was not to seen later. I had read reviews regarding the water problem. I hope they rectify it.

Ambience - Decent and clean. Plus point the waiter cleaned the table with soap solution post the two service I saw get over in front of me.

Taste 3/5
Service 3/5
Ambience 4/5

Service is just too superfast.
Till the time we entered, ordered, ate, settled bill and back to car, it was just 30 mins.

Food was average, nothing so out of the box. Their sambar and chutney supplements was not so tasty and hot.

Their gun powder dosa was very crisp and tasty, that's the only item we liked.

Staff is courteous

We went to Kurry Patta tonight at around 10:15pm. We were given a table and told that the last order was at 10:00pm but they’ll take ours anyways. So we placed our order within 5 mins of arriving at the restaurant. As the food arrived after 10 mins we were told that the masala for the Dosa was not available. After 5 mins when we asked for the soft drinks we had ordered for we were told they were unavailable so we settled for whatever they could provide. Later our server came up to us around 10:40pm and asked us to hurry up with our food as they were closing. If we knew this was what we’d get when we came to your restaurant for dinner today after the last order time we would have happily gone to some other restaurant and not face the embarrassment which we did.
Dear Kurry Patta team. We understand that we arrived after the last order time was up and adjusted to whatever was said to us. A humble request to kindly not go up to the customer and ask them to hurry up with finishing their food as your guys couldn’t wait for 10 mins to close the restaurant.
Suggestion: Please don’t let people in if you can’t serve them well even though it was after closing hours. FYI we were out of the restaurant at 10:44pm after clearing the bill.

Regards,
Ex-Kurry Patta Lover.

Decent place to have South Indian food just outside St. xavier’s College
Not very pricy too
Can be visited once in a while
The uttaapam is really good

There South Indian is scrumptious. If you want to eat south Indian, then this is the place for you. The food is absolutely yummy. It would be nice if they could start selling rawa dosa as well. Personally I would definitely recommend this place
Subhankar Adhikary

Mehlam Gadli
Food was bad ⁢ was smelling very bad
Coconut chutney &butter milk was smelling bad,I had to throw it away without having it
Rosa &idli was ok but overall food was bad

Abhishek Murarka
Calcutta already has some pretty amazing places for South Indian fare and any new place has to live up to the standards. It's tough to do that but I think Kurry Patta has cracked it. We went there in a group of 8 for lunch and ordered dosas, uttapam, idli, medhu vada, etc. I especially liked the gunpowder dosa and the paper dosa. They are delicious, not oily and came in crisp as I had ordered.

The ambience is simple, and the service turnaround is generally quick so waiting times are reasonable, even during peak hours.

Definitely recommend. Provides a great alternative to the quartet of Jyoti Vihar, Anand, Ramakrishna Lunch Home and Raj Hotel.
Sid Bothra
Super place for south Indian food.. loved almost all dishes that I had here.. and the best part is that it tastes almost as if you are eating in South India.. and the filter coffee is worth a mention.
Karan Sharma
Food: the dosas and idly at this place is very good. My two favorites are crispy bhaji dosa and the sweet corn dosa. They cook the dosas to perfection and have never disappointed. Try either of this dosa with buttermilk and you shall not be disappointed
Foodie_onthe_go
Visited this place to try the south Indian morning breakfast.Must say was not disappointed at all.
Ordered the very basic items from the list- Pyramid Dosa,Vada, and Mixed Uttapam.
Both Dosa and Vada were very authentic. They were very crispy as well as tasty. The sambhar too had the right consistency and was having enough vegetables in it.
The Uttapam was also good.
The filter coffee was also good but I found it a little overpriced (70 bucks)compared to its taste and quantity.
Overall it was a satisfactory experience. People who want to try south Indian breakfast in Kolkata can definitely hit the place.
Karunaparikh
The best podi Idli in all of Calcutta. Hands down. Also try the chilli onion vada. Absolutely delicious. The service used to be weak but has really improved now.
Puneet Khanna
This is a small place in hungerford street very close to the St Xavier's back gate . Thier gunpowder dosa, bhaji dosa, molagapodi idli are the best dishes . Must try .
Priti U. Lalani
Kurry Patta not only serves authentic South Indian food but also other favourites among people and Pav bhaji is a must try. Highly recommended
Swarupsupriya
Great South Indian food, polite service and lovely ambience. The ring idly and the gunpowder dosa come highly recommended. Children especially love the pyramid dosa.
Sahil Arora
Convenient location, easy on the pocket, neat and clean and most importantly taste comparable to the highly rated outlets of Matunga in my city of Bombay!
Garima Parakh
Asked for regular water. This came free with it. Worst experience ever. Highly unhygienic. The manager had the gall of saying "Sorry, galti ho jaati hai kabhi kabhi". Please bring your own water or order mineral water.
Ashish
Good ambiance, location and even better variety to choose from! Last but not the least - more hygienic compared to other South Indian joints - lastly, delicious food!
Pradyumna Agarwal

I like the food at kurry patta a lot..Nice place.. would love if you introduce more south indian dishes. Maintenance of standard n quality is of utmost importance.
Nidhi
I am a Telugu and very particular about my idli, travelling long distances to find the perfect ones. The idlis at Kurry Patta were divine, melt in the mouth variety, accompanied by the most delicious chutneys and sambhar! The vadas were also fresh, piping hot and crisp, just like good vadas should be. The place is clean and smart, with under stated decor, just what you would expect from a good South Indian restaurant. Go grab a meal, you will not regret it!
Vinay Goyal
One of the Finest South Indian Restaurants kolkata has. Their food is fresh hot and delicious. Their Filter Coffee is excellent ! just go for it
Sangeet Kothari
One of my favourite places for South Indian food. Perfect for weekend brunch with family. My favourites here are Rasam Vada, Gunpowder Dosa, Mysore Dosa, and Chilli Tomato Onion Uttapam. Our 9 year old loves the idli fingers. Bissi Bele bhaat is a must try for rice lovers. Papdi chaat is a refreshing palette cleanser in between South Indian staples. For me, it’s always a dilemma whether to end the meal here with buttermilk or filter coffee. My preferred place for quick work day lunch when I am in that vicinity. Clean place. Courteous staff. Warm hospitality by the host.
Keshav Dalmia
Very good food and service. We have been there multiple times and it Maintains the quality and taste of food through out. Must go place for South Indian food lovers.
Priyam
The idlis just melt in the mouth and rava dosa is an absolute favourite! Bisi bele bath is another favourite which is rarely found in other South Indian restaurants! It's the go to place for good South Indian food and a great ambience!
Madhabi Saha
Absolutely derogatory service. The waiters are ill mannered to the highest extent. They think that since they are serving you, they can insult you as well. Heard it for the first time that you won't be served finger bowl because 'a restaurant doesn't have hit water available'
Harsh Himmatsingka
The best place in Kolkata for south Indian food. This eatery is located in Hungerford Street opposite St Xaviers school and serves the softest idlis in the city. Even though the menu is concise, the owner says they serve over 100 varieties of the dosa.

We went there on Sunday for dinner - even though there was a queue, we got a table quickly. Their service was quick and efficient.

It was nice to see the owner on the floor directing his people for faster service and chipping in wherever necessary.

Upon chatting him up, we got to know that he is in the process of opening another outlet in Lake Road.

I wish him all the best in all his future endeavors.
Shrestha Saha
Disgusting will be too good a word to describe this restaurant's service. They don't have the practice of providing welcome water to their customers. Probably the first restaurant where you will get to listen that finger bowl won't be served because they can't provide warm water. The staff has absolutely zero etiquette. Forget being polite, they think serving you also gives them the right to insult you.
Priya Agarwal
They serve you the most amazing and the delicious dosa. When it comes to service and on time delivery then I feel that it ranks number one. The quality of thw food is great.
VittalKumar AV
Zomato delivery was on dot. Disappointed with Bisibele bath. It contained more of vegetables like cauliflower etc but reduced the split pigeon peas (Tur Dal) which is one of the basic and main ingredients. Hope to get the same authentic taste next time.
Vaishnabi Rastogi
There are some places which are just meant to be judged on their delicious food.
This South Indian joint on Hungerford Street is another name for " Sasta , manda , tasty".
Service is really fast with friendly staff members. The menu sticks to traditional South Indian cuisine and does justice to its authenticity. The decor is simple and nice. Do try the House Specials!
A place for convivial conversation and hearty meals, would love to be here again.
Parth Rastogii

This place is one of my go to south indian places. The restaurant always lived up to my expectations. The staff is very courteous and helpful. Service is fast and efficient

But during my last visit I was really disappointed. We were a group of 11 people who had gone for dinner on 18th December 2018. We ordered a lot of stuff that included around 13 pieces of idly ordered separately in quantities of 5 plates and 3 individual pieces. The menu specifies prices separately for 1 pc and 2 pcs. Any idiot would divide the entire lot of order by 2 and charge for the 1 extra pc at the separate rate of 1 idly. But seems like the owner doesn't apply logic. We were charged on the basis of quantities we ordered each time. So we ended up being forced to pay for 5 plates separately and 3 individual pieces separately. The extra 40 bucks did not bother me that much but the senseless logic behind this calculation is way beyond my understanding. Arguing with your customer for 20-40 bucks is really disappointing. God knows how much the owner expects to earn through this stupid method of invoicing.

This review is just to bring to the owner's notice that these small things even annoy a customer who loves your restaurant and has been there for at least a dozen of times. The calculation is simple- total order of 13 idlies should be divided by 2 and charged as 6 plates plus 1 pc.

For my fellow friends, please make sure to order in quantities of 2 to prevent the unnecessary annoyance. Other than this, all is good - their gunpowder dosa is a must try ;-)
Prashant Kumaran
Great place for Southie taste buds. Food is excellent. Ambience is quite simple and approachable. 4 stars since there is no innovations apart from the usual.

excellent food as always

Went to this place for breakfast, after reading rave reviews about the place. The place opens at 9:00 AM and people start pouring in from the time the gates open. The inside décor was simple.
We ordered Chilly Cheese Plain Dosa.. the inside Masala is served separately in a bowl and comes at the charge of Rs 30. The Dosa was delicious, but the chutney and sambar was nothing extraordinary. We also ordered Dahi Vada - the quality of the curd was very good but overall the Dahi Vada was not that tasty.
Varun Biyani
There is only word to define this place..GHEEE IDLY !! Amazing soulfood and experience to come and have one of the best south indian food in town!!
Soumyajit Pal
If you love South Indian food, you cannot skip this one.
Pros: The butter idli is yummy. The cheese mushroom rava dosa is a must. I also have had the good fortune of trying out the dahi vada and the cheese uttapam. Exquisite they are. How can one not fall in love with this place? It is very clean and hygiene seems to be one of the topmost priorities of the management.
Cons: I believe the behaviour of the waiters can be better.
Mukesh Sheth
First things first, the food is of excellent quality and taste. Love their gunpowder dosa. Ambience can be better. Pricing is spot on as per The Standard of food they serve. Keep up the good work guys at kurry patta.
Lavanya
Finally! Went to Kurry Patta. Loved the simplicity of the ambiance. The staff is courteous, service is good.
What we ordered:-
Idili, Vada, Plain Dosa, Cheese Paper plain Dosa, Masala Dosa and sprite.
The Dosas were delicious. Not at all oily made to perfection. They can beat Jyoti Vihar and Anand anytime.
Idli and Vada was ok.
I had heard alot about the sambar and chutney. But it was ok. Nothing rave about. Otherwise Recommend! Kudos to Kurry Patta. Recommended.
Meghna Jhanwar

We had gone for breakfast to Kurry Patta on theatre road. The place was open as early as 9.30 in the morning which was impressive. We had ordered Idli and Vada, the Idli was soft & light and Vada Crispy. The place was neat and clean, service quick.Wont mind going back.
Saguna Gupta (iamwherefoodis)
Kurry Patta is simple yet delicious south indian food brought to your doorsteps. We ordered from this place often but they always messed up the delivery by forgetting a dish... however, they made up for it by delivering it later.
I would absolutely ask you to try the appan with vegetable korma - super dish. The idli sambhar was fine too. Their chutneys are delicious as well.
They can definitely try and focus more on making sure the delivery boy is taking the complete order.
Vinay Srimal
Good Food, Quiet Ambience.
The menu is short but covers the south Indian variety. The option available there are worth trying. Bhaji Dosa and Mysore masala Dosa are a must try also try the tomato onion chutney it's nice. The prices I felt were 20% on the upper side as per the restaurant quality.
Suchi Khaitan
Must try for everyone who has a palette for south indian. Such a good variety of chutneys.. And all of them tastes Yummmm. The only disappointment was their service from their arrogant server.
Sapna Sinha
Its amazing experience being over there! Food was tasty. We ordered pav bhaji , dosha and mango lassi. Pav bhaji was good , dosha was just amazing nd yes! Taste was there in the mango lassi. Amazingggggg! Just amazing guys...! Happy us! With great food.
Kunal Ghuwalewala
coconut chatni is smelling and stale
Totally average. Nothing great about the place and food. If you don't find any other place to visit then go here. Hope they improve their food quality in order to gain more customers

An experience not so great!! The Mixed Uttapam which was ordered hardly had veggies in it and the Sambhaar sent wasn't sufficient enough (quantity wise)
Abhishek Gupta
Looking for a nice South Indian meal? This is the place! It emanates the feeling of a traditional Indian restaurant, where one can come with their friends and family and have a nice time. I went there with my parents for lunch.
We ordered Molagapodi Idli, Chilli Onion Vada, Gunpowder Paper Dosa and Mixed Uttapam. Each and every dish was just perfect.

Idli topped with ghee and gunpowder tasted amazing.
Chilli Onion Vada was delectable. Pleasing to the taste buds.
Gun powder paper dosa was cooked to perfection. As thin and as crispy as it can get with the delicious gunpowder filling.
The mixed uttapam looked flawless when it arrived and taste was even better.
All the items mentioned are a must try.
A special mention for the Special Coconut chutney and the normal chutney as well. They had a different flavour which left a lasting effect on the taste buds.
Quick service and courteous staff. A great experience ✌️

Something fancy as well as solid to eat!🍽️ Go for this amazing dish called Ring Idli at Kurry Patta (beside Xavier's back gate).

This is a ring-shaped idli stuffed with mashed potato in the center along with other toppings and of course the delicious sambhar and coconut chutney!😋

Tastes the way it looks - Delicious!
Also, it gives an exciting flavor which is different from the regular South Indian dishes.

Rating : 4/5

Located at the Central part of Kolkata, this place is a must visit for a South Indian lover.
They have varieties in their food and the taste is also upto the mark.
Ambience and Service has no restrain , parking facility is an issue.
Otherwise overall a very good place to visit with Family and kids.
Nice Southindian food. Rather best in Kolkata. Ambience is also nice. I liked the gunpowder dosa and onion chilli dosa. The coconut chutney and sambar can be refilled multiple times like making it an authentic south Indian restaurant.
Prity Poddar - Veg Food And Reviews
Jul 2018:

Paneer Dosa @ Kurry Patta, Kolkata, India ☺

Having been visited almost all the popular South Indian outlets in Kolkata, this time we opted for Kurry Patta, the Hungerford Street based yet-to-be-tried outlet in our food venture list.

My order of Paneer Dosa turned out to be a regular Masala Dosa, with the only difference of, a moderate presence of grated Paneer, sprinkled all over the inside of the Dosa!

I expected the Dosa stuffing to be a concoction of fresh chunks of Paneer. Now, either my frequent invites to South Indian food festivals have infused my head with bizarre innovations and fusions, or Kurry Patta needs to spruce up it's game, if it targets to provide distinct varieties of Dosas to it's customers.

The Dosa was uniform in shape, crisp and well cooked. But the stuffed Aloo Masala was totally mashed and soggy, the kind you get, when you don't let the boiled potatoes to cool down before peeling and cooking.

The accompanying Sambhar and Coconut Chutney were nice.

The outlet was clean and staff was courteous.

Price: Rs. 110/-

#vfr259

So the hankering for a South Indian breakfast on a Sunday morning was fulfilled here. This was a cute little place near the St. Xavier's College back gate. The place has a fair decor, nothing too fancy. I ordered a plate of Idli, a plate of Masala Vada and a Mixed Uttapam.

The Uttapam was delicious. Crispy with the right amount of chilliness. Tasted so so good with the chutney which was surprisingly light. The Masala Vada was okayish, a little on the bland side. It could have been a bit more crispy with a little more flavour. The Idli, my God the Idli over here is the softest one that I have ever had. It was the clear winner for me. In fact, I loved it so much that I even packed some to take home with me. The sambar being fresh & with the right amount of spiciness complemented with all the dishes there.

Overall, I give this place a Thumbs Up.
