Review Royal Indian Hotel Restaurant - Kolkata (Calcutta)

I recently visited this restaurant and had a delightful experience. The food quality was impressive, especially the well-cooked chicken kebabs and flavorful biriyani with perfectly cooked rice. The sheermal, with its mesmerizing ghee aroma, was a highlight. However, the mutton in the biriyani was a bit tough. The chicken butter masala was average, but the shahi tukra dessert was a delightful end to the meal. Hygiene standards were well-maintained. The service was good, and the staff were polite, though the waiting time was a bit extended. Despite this, the overall value for money is excellent, given the moderate prices. A recommended spot for those seeking delicious and reasonably priced Indian cuisine.

Delicious!!! Try their mutton chap, just too good and they don't serve one big piece they cut it is small piece which is very easy to eat. Their mutton kakori kabab is also excellent, it will just melt in your mouth. Servers are very nice and clean restaurant. Will go again for sure.

Park Circus Royal is a niche place to dine in. It has more variety in the menu than barabazar branch. I personally like their old joint more than the new one both taste wise and atmosphere wise. Service is top notch. Galauti kebab should be a little less spicier and should be served with small parathas. They change the mutton piece if u don't like it and that's a very positive point. The special Mutton biryani was very tasty with a little oily feel not like the barabazar joint which is good.

Nice place, good food and awesome ambience. Their services are also excellent. Restaurant is located on the main road just opposite to Quest Mall. I would recommend my friends and family to visit and enjoy the food.

Wanna try one of the finest and tastiest biriyani in kolkata?.....then this is the place 😋. Royal Indian Resturant serves some delicious biriyani to its biriyani lovers. Situated just exact opposite to quest mall the place has quite large sitting arrangement. Coming to food the chicken tandoori served here tastes too good. We tried their moti lucknowi biriyani with mutton chap (small chops of mutton pieces tasted out of world). Hence, a highly recommended place for biriyani lovers of Kolkata.

Mutton galawati kebab was the highlight. Royal mutton biryani special kofti was not worth the hype. The rice was a bit bland and the meat was quite dry. Mutton shahi qorma, which went well with either rumail roti or masala qulcha, was also flavourful and packed quite the heat. The place gets very busy on the weekends especially during the evenings. Reservation recommended.

Additionally, I tried a chicken side dish whose name escapes me, but the taste still lingers in my memory. The succulent chicken, bathed in a delicious sauce, had me reaching for more with each bite. The flavors were rich, complex, and left me wanting to explore the diverse range of flavors present in Indian cuisine. To end the meal on a sweet note, I indulged in the firni, and it was a delightful treat. What truly impressed me about the Royal Indian Restaurant was not only the delectable food but also the attentive and friendly service. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu, offering recommendations and ensuring that my dining experience was enjoyable from beginning to end. Their attention to detail and genuine care for their customers' satisfaction truly set them apart.

We had Mutton Biriyani, Mutton Tikiya, Rumali Roti, Tandoori chicken, Chicken Reshmi kebab and firni, Shahi Tukda for dessert. Every dish was well prepared and flavourful. The chicken was soft and succulent. The ambience is nice and the staffs are quite hospitable. Service is top notch.

I tried haleem, overall it was good. Haleem is available here during ramadan every year. I also tried firni and shahi tukda, which were average as per the taste and quality.

The taste was good but the quantity was not satisfied. Firni was good. Overall 3.5/5

Royal makes one of the best Biryani in Kolkata... We ordered Galaouti Kebab for starter... that tasted amazing !! For main course we had Mutton Kofti Biryani, Chaap, and Mutton Rezala.... all these dishes were really great !!.. and lastly for dessert we had Firni and Shahi Tukda... both were equally great as well... all in all... a very good experience... prices were a bit high, but was worth it... staff is cooperative and the food is served really hot... Highly Recommended....

Absolutely nothing to fault this place on, every single thing was perfect. Starting with the kakori kebab, so so so soft, absolutely melts in your mouth, 5/5, must try! Their biryani is flavourful, it's delicious and wholesome, amazing! Mutton chaamp was also great but the star of the day was their galawati kebab, absolutely stunning, I'd give it a 10/5, loved every single thing about it. The service was also exceptional! There is not much time left for Eid to come so this is the right time to taste it. So the next destination is Royal Indian Restaurant, Park Circus Branch. The biryani is their strongest, but it remains to be seen how much Halim can attract the mind. The clock ticked 1:30 when I was crossing the Royal boundary in the heat of the half-oven. , And Mutton Kundan Korma. Outside, a fire in my stomach, busy with everything, the waiter came down to rescue me like a firefighter, who was ordered mutton halim, chicken anarkali, mutton champ, paratha, and mutton kundan korma without waiting. By the way, my love for the goat is genuine, I can't even think of removing it from the plate. Let's see how I played- ❣️Mutton haleem (₹ 275) - What I came to eat did not disappoint me at all, it was about 6-7 pieces of small sized bone-fleshed meat, I got the aroma of light water in Halim which did not taste bad at all, but it tasted a little sour when I ate it. HChicken Anarkali (6pcs ₹ 300) - When it comes to royals, when it comes to starters, I like one of the two, Galouti Kebab and two, this Anarkali. This kebab made with anar is soft from the outside

Today I had ordered for a single plate of Chicken Biryani from Royal Indian Restaurant, which is located at Syed Amir Ali Avenue, Kolkata. The packaging was neat and adhered to safety standards required in this pandemic crisis. However, much to my surprise, the taste wasn't upto the mark. The last time I had visited this restaurant, their Chicken Biryani was one of the best Biryanis I had ever had! So this deterioration was really disappointing. Also, they did not send a potato in the Biryani, which quite defines the finesse of Kolkata Biryani. The rice too wasn't of much good a quality. Talking of quantity, I don't have any complaints. However, if you're talking about the price quality index, it's pretty overrated. Being a big biryani lover, this was one of the places that was left to try from Zomato's coveted list of biryanis and after visiting it, I can say it was totally worth it.<br/><br/>We ordered two Afghani chicken tikka, mutton kofta biryani and a mutton chaap.<br/><br/>The biryani was really good and light. Less oil and good quality. The quantity was really good as you can see and the mutton piece was succulent and nice. Remember, that you don't get any aloo in the kofta biryani but small mutton balls, which were nice, to be honest. But, missed the aloo, ngl. The mutton chaap was also really good. Oily but that's the whole point of a chaap. As of the afghani tikka was well marinated and good juicy pieces. Liked it.<br/><br/>Our bill came down to 981/- for two including a 15 per cent discount thanks to Zomato Pro.<br/><br/>Worth recommending? Definitely.

We ordered biriyani in royal indian restaurant. We were four friends together and without biriyani the trip is almost incomplete. So we ordered 4 plates. It was good, tasty though nothing interesting but it was upto the mark. The quantity was enough.

The biriyani I had was very oily and full of dalda. I'm not going to come back. Don't like it. Definitely there are many other good restaurants.

Don't ever order biryani from here. 🤢🤮. There will be hairs inside the Biryani and when you will call them to complain about it , then will not talk to you properly.

Yesterday bought a few Biryanis home from the park Circus outlet, and barring 4 packs of the 15 they were really bad and tasted different. Not the way Royal biryani have been tasting over the years<br/>The seem to be supplying an inferior quality of biryani off late<br/>Bill no. 11454<br/>Not only was the money wasted but the trust of over 40 years has been broken.<br/>Sad day for people who worshipped the biryani at Royal near chitpur.<br/><br/>

Went there on last Friday. They are maintaining proper sanitization, temp. Checks prior entry to the restaurants. Tables are been regularly sanitized, and they have kept a bottle of sanitizer on each table. Coming to food, it was great in taste. Few items were nit available. Ordered chicken malai kabab, mutton kofti biriyani and mutton chaap. Everything tasted delicious. For sweet tooth, ordered shahi tukda, which was not up to the mark. It was smelling as of stale bread.. Managable to eat. Nonetheless, in this difficult times, had a great dining experience.

Visited during durga puja. Crowdy but the food quality was not compromised. Waiting time was also less compared to the crowd.

Being a biryani lover this place is the mecca for our love of Mughlai food! <br/>Be it moti biryani to their classic mutton chaanp! Or the best mutton rezala!<br/><br/>For starters their fish Amritsari, tangdi kebab and Chicken Tandoori are our constant favourites!<br/><br/>The best place to satiate your biryani cravings! But be prepared to miss that aloo! As Royal doesn't serve aloo in their biryani.

Perhaps the best mutton chap in kolkata. Not for the faint hearted as it's super spicy. The biriyani is too rich & strong.

The mutton biryani was bland. It tasted more like flavoured rice. Also, I received rumali roti instead, of phirni. The delivery person told me that phirni was not available, which the restaurant did not think necessary to inform me.

Ordered butter naan and mutton chaap, the quantity & tasty was bad of the chaap. And the send me normal naan instead of butter naan.

The experience was truly amazing. We took Royal India special chicken biriyani. Which is actually the awadhi style one or cooked in dum pukt style. It didn't include aloo. The taste was lip smacking. The rice was cooked perfectly and aromatic as well with a little spice. The chicken was melting inside the mouth but It was quite small in size. And this made me unhappy!! There was mutton galouti kebab in our list also. It was good too. A must visit place in town for biriyani lovers.

The submitted photo is of their Mutton Keema , which was just about 1/3rd full. Roomali rotis was stale, rubbery, and hard to chew. Chaanp meat needed to be softer, and Galouti was the only saving grace. <br/><br/>PS: We are not new patrons. My family has been their patrons for over 50 years.

Royal is very famous for it's mutton tikiya, mutton chanp and biryani. This is my first visit to this outlet, though I have visited the main outlet many times. Quality and quantity of the foods are perfect. Staffs are well behaved. Ambience is also nice. Service was a bit late due to the crowd. Overall a very good experience.

Heard so much about the chaap. But it was a waste for money as it had no taste , was not cooked properly and was full of bones. Really very disappointed.

The biryani was too spicy ,I didn't tasted like a biryani , and they also don't give potato .

The rice was a bit chewy and hard. The staffs then replaced with another plate and this time we just loved it.<br/>We ended this hearty meal on a sweet note with shahi tukra.<br/>So people out there if you haven't tried biriyani from this place go and give it a shot.

The kofte biriyani is a true delight. Also i loved the galouti krbab and the chicken kebabs there.

It is indeed a great place for dining and one of the best in the park Circus area. The kababs are suparb and I hardly have such soft Kabab anywhere else. Murg Afghani is a must to try. Biryani is also nice and quantity is sufficient enough. A few staffs are not so good as they have some peculiar attitude which you can't show to customer in this type of service.

This is located opposite to Quest mall. The food here is okayish. Had ordered Royal special mutton Biriyani which was almost like Kolkata biriyani except the potato and was spicier. Murg kashmiri was average. But I absolutely loved the Shahi tukra.

Visited this place 2day..The ambience of this place is good..Decor was nice..Staff's were less attentive and rude..Service was OK..Food was good and tasty although it was really oily and chicken and mutton pieces were not soft and well cooked..Should have been better..Overall experience was ok

Here we had a birthday party of my bestie❤️. We chose mutton Biryani and mutton chap for the evening. The biriyani was well cooked and the mutton piece were tender. Royal serves you authentic biriyani without the potatoes unlike other restaurants of Kolkata. The quantity is fairly good. Mutton chap was delicious as well. We had coke and masala coke too. Personally, I felt the coke had too much masala in it. The service and the ambience was appreciable too.

Went there today for lunch....we were a group of 4. It is located just opposite to quest mall, easy to locate. It's a beautiful place, with beautifully decorated interior. The staffs were well behaved and polite, he helped us a lot in choosing our dishes. We ordered mutton biriyani (with aloo), chicken tikka butter masala (7 pieces), butter nun, fresh lime soda and firni. All the dishes were equally tasty and quantity wise enough for 2 people. I ordered mutton biriyani and chicken chaap. Firstly the food was not hot enough and neither they were tasty. Rather I did not liked it at all. Quality wise it was very poor. The chicken was overcooked and the mutton was undercooked. And excessive amount of dalda literally sticking to my plate. Highly disappointed. Not recommended at all. Not worth anyone's precious money. They really need to work on quality to maintain customers.

I been to royal India and I have order chicken butter masala for takeaway, but they provided me with different gravy instead of chicken butter masala. As I reached my place I open my parcel to have my food I saw the dish which I order it is not that after that immediately I called up to the restaurant and complained them. And they denied about what they provided to us. I will recommend not to go and if u taking a parcel check over there itself before leaving the restaurant. They really spoiled my son dinner as he is not well and look for Chicken Reshmi butter masala but unfortunately because of there fault I couldn’t manage to fulfill my son wish.

Was here for lunch today. Ordered Chicken reshmi kebab, mutton chaap and rumali rotis. The kebab wasn't soft. The rotis didn't taste like freshly made food - I suspect they were reheated. The mutton chaap was just about alright. Nothing great, nothing to write home about. Greatly disappointed.

No doubt Royal has the best Biriyani and Mutton Chaap in whole Kolkata. For me, they are the best. The kebabs were also good. Mutton Chaap is my all time favourite. Whenever I go I order this thing as with every bite one can get the mutton.

There was no piece of potato in the biryani.But it was written Chicken Biryani(Aloo) in the menu card.I think they forgot to give the potato.It was not expected.

We were going to arsaalan but suddenly my friend insisted to stop at royal , so we both entered today after 11 pm . We ordered 2 mutton biryani and 2 mutton chaap with green salad , but the waiter confidently told us that potato he can't give as it is not available . So we ordered for mutton kofti biryani . ... But after the biryani came it was super dry like steam rice and rayazi pc of mutton is also stiff that we can't cut it with our teeth also 😁😁.. rice was tasteless and no taste at all ... Mutton chaap was also only mutton with oil nothing else ... Food was pathetic and not worth it ... I should not pay 100 rupees also for this shit food but what can we do as it is not a standard restaurant like arsaalan so after telling two person in the counter also they were laughing and least bothered and seems like khana he to Khao warna jao but Khao ya na Khao but bill deke jao.. we both didn't finished 50percent of the food and left them.. we have done a wrong decision by not going to arsalan .... Royal try to maintain at least some standard like arsalan and tell your chef to learn how cook food from arsalaan ....

I went to Royal Indian Restaurant yesterday for lunch. I mainly went there to try their famous Mutton Biryani and Mutton Chap. We ordered the Royal Special Mutton Biryani. The biryani was good but it was bit too heavy. The quantity was really good. I really loved the Mutton Chap. It will really go well with romali roti or parantha. We ordered masala coke and normal coke as well. But they add way too much masala in masala coke.<br/><br/>The service was fast and good. Ambience was good.

Royal is famous for biriyani and mutton chap..We ordered Royal special mutton biriyani and mutton chap along with cold drinks. Biriyani was light and good. Chap was also good but it had small pieces of bones which i did not like. Ambience good and the service was pretty fast.

It is located exactly in the opposite foot of quest mall, very easy to find out. I have heard of this place many time for its biriyani. 5.11.2019 I went their withy friend, ordered-<br/>• mutton kofti biriyani (with 2 mutton pieces) - 365/- Rs. (Taste was good but at first we thought it is very oily, we took time to eat, when the food cooled down we realised that it was dalda, not oil. The taste became very bad & dry & it was creating a layer inside mouth)<br/><br/>• Green salad - 45/- Rs<br/>• Firni - 55/- Rs (taste was good)<br/><br/>Ambience was okay , not so clean cause one fly was continuously roaming around our food. I can't say staffs were courteous but service was quick.<br/>
