We visited Jimmy's Kitchen (New Market) on 26/10/2019. We ordered:-
1) Chicken Clear Soup
2) Mixed Cantonese Noodles
3) Fried Chilli Pork
All the dishes were outstanding. The Cantonese Noodles is a legendary dish at this restaurant. Chilli Pork was exceptionally good as well. I have visited this restaurant several times in the last 30 years, and it has never disappointed with its food. The Fried Boneless Chilli Chicken is another special must-try dish here. One of the finest Chinese restaurants in the city.....Go for it!!!
I have been going to this place for the last 10 years and it has never disappointed me. Yes the price is on the higher side but the food and ambience is amazing. The quantity is really huge. We ordered a chopseuy and even two of us couldn't finish it. The lemon chicken was so delicious. Felt like a lemon burst in my mouth. This place has been my constant and I would always always recommend this place.
A small request, if you could switch from plastic straws to paper ones, it will really be for the best!

My Dads favourite chinese place. The chicken asparagus soup is the one i can die for. Never found it anywhere. Fried rice is perfect. Too good food. Must vist.
During Puja Shopping I visited this much hyped Restaurant named "Jimmy's Kitchen" in New Market Area.This place was like any other Chinese restaurant.Family friends couples anyone can hangout there,even u can enjoy alone too like me😌.The ambience and fragnance was like typical Chinese restaurant.The staffs were courteous and service was good.I ordered-
1.Jimmy's Special Fried Rice:-It is more than enough for a single person.It was one of the best fried rices I had till date.Pork Chicken Egg Prawn Veggies everything was there.(Highly Recommended) [Price:-300/-]
2.Fresh Lime Soda-It was like any other lime soda.[Price:-50/-]

Nice place to have quick lunch or drink. Behavior of staff and ambience is also very good. Food taste is good but I felt main dish quantity is strictly for single person. If you are hungry better to take 1 plate of main dish like chowringhee or friedrice for each person. Drinks are served in moderate price. Location is near new market so easily can be located. Wish to go there again
Been here recently, I was amazed with the freshness and quality of food. I'm definitely coming back if I'm in the area. Tried the chilly pork(recommended), tasted so fresh and perfect in taste. Loved their panko prawns too!! A must try for sure.

Growing up to be an 18 year old fellow, this is the place where I started my drinking career literally with a small shot of whiskey about 16 years ago and the place is still rocking. The best part of an area like this (New Market+Esplanade) is that nothing gets too old. The land itself holds the legacy allowing old buds to sustain in this environment of jazz and glam.
Situated on the left while going towards the Free School Street, Jimmy'sn used to be known as Jimmy's Bar when I started my visitations back in 2002. Never had to complain about anything they had on offer in terms of food or drinks. Interiors seems to remain the same and so is the quality they have been serving so far. Taste has never been a problem with most of the eateries in this particular area and Jimmy's certainly have been doing a great job on those grounds. It isn't a huge place but recently sized and tables are placed in a row.
The rates might seem too high for a place this size and I believe it indeed is. Well, that's not something we can change. All in all, a great small choice in the area
Small cozy place on Lindsay Street, might miss ones eye if not closely looked at... Had a chicken and shrimp soup... Was pretty good however the soup was a little bland and had to add a few sauces and vinegar... Also had pepper chicken was pretty good... Overall a good experience...
Went shopping to new market and decided to stop by for a quick lunch. We ordered wanton soup, chicken corn soup, pork in black bean sauce, chicken lollipop, special fried rice and mixed Hakka noodles. All I can say is every bite was a pleasure and the authenticity of the food was unbelievable. Had eaten in many Chinese restaurants but this place was the best. The ambience was great too. Will go back again and again whenever we visit Kolkata. The place was packed to capacity but we were lucky to get a table for four soon enough to satisfy our hunger pangs.

Jimmys place serves mostly Chinese cuisine and non veg food items. It has a complete bar menu and is open till late at night. Items craved for out here are Manchurian, Hakka Noodles, Chilly pork, Dumplings, chicken and more.Table reservation is not needed out here, one can straight away go for it.
There's nothing extra ordinary about this place and its quite narrow too but they serve really tasty chilli roast pork and fried chilli pork. 😋😋😋

The restaurant is very cozy. The food is awesome but the waiters needs to be professional and polite. The other Jimmy’s are way better in this section. The Jimmy’s special fried rice, Cantonese mixed chow with gravy and roasted pork are awesome, very reasonable in price.
The pork fried rice and chili pork is a must have and king pao chicken. Coming to the taste of food served it tastes amazing. The quantity served is good enough and the sitting arrangement is quite comfortable too.
This was my first visit to this place. Post shopping my friends and I dropped in for a relaxed evening snack and adda! It's a decent place and the food was really good. But man their service was horrible. Their "I-Give-a-Damn" attitude was rude and annoying. It seemed as if the waiters were doing us a favor by serving us our order. 3.5 just for the food! I am not sure if I will visit this outlet any time soon!

Old place. Comfortable and cozy atmosphere. Service is good. Food not as amazing as it used to be, but not incredibly bad. Still worth a visit when you are damn hungry. What has still remained the same are the spring rolls and wontons. They are as good aa they used to be.
Overall it has an old world chinese food charm. Nothing new to try. But if the simple chinese works for you then this one of the places in the city that you should definitely hit.
The chilli chicken here is worth a eating, it is an old restaurant, very well maintained, neat and clean and quiet centrally located, in the vicinity of kala Mandir, prices are a little steep, bit over the years the quality of noodles and Mandarin fish has gone down.
If I have one complaint about this place, it's that it is unbelievably cold and that's coming from me who spends most of my time in recording studios which are supposed to be cold due to the fact that the equipment could overheat. If any of the owners are reading this, please put your ac temperature low!! My arthritis will thank you!!! Other than that the food is excellent the service is slightly better than the average indian restaurant service that we have come to expect and the ambience is awesome. I'm a regular when my pocket allows me to be... and if I have a jacket handy!!
it's a small joint near new market that sells goold old indian chinese dishes. the boneless chili chicken (dry) is my all time favourite.we ordered a thai soup though that looked like tomato soup and was very spicy.the chicken and shrimp fried rice was average.the prices are reasonable so the usp is the location and thus may visit in future.

Although the quality has slightly gone down, this legendary, 55+ year old Chinese-owned restaurant still kindles your spirit through the stomach. They've spruced up the interiors recently but still gives you the nostalgia!
Mostly filled, this bar-attached-restaurant had a table just for me on a Friday night! I reached at about 19:45.
The staff were courteous although they didn't emote much.
Order:-
Fried Chilli Pork (₹250) - With lots of slices onions and green chillies, the mildly fried pork slices were tender and at its best! Lovely caramelised and peppery flavours. slice of lemon for some tang. Medium-large portion size. Must try (also Roast Chilli Pork).
Steamed Prawn Dumplings (₹160) - Four juicy steamed dim sums stuffed with prawns, shallots, salt and pepper. Not the best but good enough.
Jimmy's Special Fried Rice (₹270) - A sesame oil rich stir fried rice with finely chopped carrots, shallots, scallions, chicken, scrambled egg, pork and prawns topped with what was supposed to be a bull's eye(just but perfection) and two large slices of roasted pork. Large portion size. Took my time to devour it. May have been the oil but wasn't really smooth. Still, epic and a must try!

Service was extra quick although it was quite occupied. Surprisingly, the kitchen closes by 21:30. Of all the places, this street does offer some parking space. This place is a living legend. One of the oldest Chinese restaurants in this area. Interiors are not much to impress you and neither is the below average ambience. Being a compact place the place is usually very noisy and since it offers food at reasonable rates its always full. I would say as per the price quantity is less. Food tastes good. Service is very slow but they do serve very hot and fresh food. Staff are very polite. I like this place.

With Anushtup and Aninda De Dropped in on my birthday with my best friends. I had come here before and knew how it is and what to expect. Wasn't disappointed. Helpful staff, good food, decent and quiet ambience with that whiff of authentic Chinese aroma in the air. Price of food and drinks are reasonable.
If you're looking for authentic chinese food , Jimmy's won't disappoint you. Cozy ambience and prompt service. If you want to enjoy a sumptous meal and are expecting a decent amount of food on your plate , this is the place to go.

I have been going to this small outlet of jimmys since my teens though i stopped going in between because i saw its deteoriation to a nice chinese joint to just another watering hole of dharmtalla. But yesterdays visit changed my perception again... first of all, it has undergone a renovation and is looking cleaner and brighter... a few young,happy looking and enthusiastic waiters have replaced the old grumpy ones.... but the best part is that their lipsmacking menu has remained more or less the same... coming to the food, i ordered a french mushroom soup, veg.fried rice and sliced fish in black bean sauce..... the soup was refreshing with large chunks of mushrooms and was piping hot... veg fried rice was light,fluffy and just right for a blazing hot day, the sliced fish in black bean sauce was light yet infused with all the oriental flavours i could think of without being overpowering... the fresh lime soda was great though nothing special.... since i am on a diet regimen so couldnt have lamb or pork dishes,planning to go on a 'cheat day' sometime soon !! ;)
Went there after a long time with my close school buddies. Authentic Chinese food was only satisfactory. Chilly potatoes was great. Cantonese noodles, Sweet and sour Chopsuey was not up to the mark. Yes but manchurian was good. Average experience overall.

If you are looking forward to enjoying authentic Chinese cuisine in the heart of Kolkata, Jimmy's Kitchen can undeniably be your pick. Ravishing Chinese dishes and seafood have been served in the food joint to amaze the customers. The decor of the restaurant was quite a classy one and the arrangement of the sofas provided ease and comfort. I must not forget to mention the cordiality of the staffs and their service, which was totally astounding.
I visited the joint with my close pals and decided to have Kung Pao Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice and Prawn Cutlet. The first one was an amazing spicy preparation of chicken and it tasted really nice with the fried rice that was offering a nice aroma. In addition to this, the cutlet was simply yummy and we thoroughly enjoyed each of its bite. The best thing about the food joint is the pricing of its foods, which were completely reasonable. I used to be a frequent visitor at this place but as my visits to New Market has come down so has been to this place . Today went to this place after a long gap & decided to try my favourite dishes there . The place is not very big but is comfortable , neat & clean . The staffs are well dressed & well mannered but the service was very slow . We had to wait for more than 15 minutes after giving orders & again for 10 minutes to pay our bill . Coming to the food we tried the following :
1) Drums of heaven : Four pieces are served in a plate , they were dry type devoid of any type of sauce . Crispy & cooked to perfection it was a very good starter.
2) Chicken , shrimp & egg noodles ( gravy ) : It tasted really good . The pieces of chicken , shrimp , egg blended beautifully with the associated vegetables & noodles . No out of sync sauce had been used thereby retaining the natural flavour of the dish .
3) Boneless Chilly Chicken ( dry ) : It had been my favourite earlier & didn't disappoint me this time too. Chicken pieces were served in generous proportions and tasted amazing , it's combination with noodles was splendid .
Overall a good experience when it comes to food but they need improvement in service specially in waiting time .

Located near to new market..Jimmy's kitchen is one good joint to explore. The food is good...especially the starters. We tried the fruit punch , mixed fried rice, and sizzling schewan chicken..which they referred as spicy but was not at all spicy. But had a different types of bell peppers, mushrooms and some herbs in it. Tasted good but definitely not spicy. Decor is good but the Jimmy's kitchen on theater road is better.

Jimmy's is one such small place near Grace beauty parlour. It is a pleasure to go there for a wonderful Chinese meal. Over the years (from my childhood), there has been no compromise on taste, service and quality.
There are many Chinese places where some dishes are good and some others are barely palatable. Jimmy's is one such place where every item is well made, delicious and authentic. From fish to pork, all dishes are simply yummy. Cantonese and hakka are both recommended in the noodles segment. And that is no mean feat. Many Chinese restaurants make good hakka noodles but poor gravy style noodles. Jimmy's won't disappoint the diner that way.
Prices are a little steep but then quality comes at a price. The place is extremely clean and comfortable.

Polite staff, which is a pleasant surprise these days. The garlic hakaa is wonderful for the palate and their soups are very well blended with other ingredients. Need to be fast with their service though, as the staff took a good 45 minutes for serving 2 items only. Over all ambiance is very soothing and is perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon lunch or in case of an outing with friends.
An OLD HOUSE CLASSIC. It remembered my childhood days when my parents used to take me there just after the Puja Shopping... Did the same with my daughter this year. She Loved the food... Loved the Garlic Prawn, Mixed fried rice, Mushroom asparagus soup with crab meat topping. But outstanding was Smoked Chili Pork. Amen!

Being out with a friend in the New Market area makes you really hungry. And to conclude the ever-growing hunger pangs we headed for the Jimmy's Kitchen. The restaurant is located in a dingy pocket which makes it near impossible to spot. But we, being very patient found it anyway. The restaurant being very small can accommodate few customers. Comparatively the food menu is quite elaborate. Their main attraction is the Chinese dishes. We ordered for Wanton soup and Golden fried prawns to start with. Moving to the entrée with Chicken and shrimp fried rice and Fried chilli chicken. Though the entrée lived up to the expectation but the starter of fried prawns was a major disappointment. The batter surrounding the prawns was soggy and greasy and the prawns were overcooked. Being the most expensive dish of the lot I expected it to be far better. No issues with the quantity. But anyway a good place to enjoy a filling meal along with standard prices. The staff were very cooperative and the atmosphere was very casual.

I must start with saying that i had visited this place on a late night of durga puja and the food was okish tending towards good. In kolkata if a restaurant cooks okish food on durga pujo then they generally make good food on normal days. My ratings are based on this assumption. When everything else was full in this area, we stepped in Jimmys kitchen to satiate our hunger.
Firstly the food is expensive. Taste is nice, portions are okish. Staff are very friendly. Please do not expect great interiors. We had a simple chicken preparation and mixed fried rice. Both were good.

Ambience is pretty dope. Felt like i entered a more calm dimension , away from the crowds of new market. Food is decent, but could be better. The service was quick, efficient and polite. Good portions of food. You could try the Chinese dishes. The menu is a bit on the expensive side but good enough none the less. Go on a date here and enjoy.
One of the very old chinese restaurants in kolkata now having a bar facility. Earlier named as JIMMYS KITCHEN this place provide you with quality food and drinks. Taste is very good but yes the price has risen up in recent years but there is value for money for simple chinese food.

Ambience was fine and food was delicious. We ordered Jimmy's special mixed fried rice with garlic chicken and for beverage we had mint mojito . For two head count you can go for 1 fried rice because the quantity is enough. Garlic chicken was spicy which we loved. Staffs were humble.

This is one of the most underrated eateries in kolkata. I wonder why people haven't vlogged about it. The food is just amazing. Very authentic taste at a very reasonable price. The menu has a variety of Chinese, Tibetan dishes and the hakka noodles is a must try.

Jimmy's kitchen is a pretty old famous Chinese restaurant. Their food quality, portion and taste is good. If you are going for a shopping spree in new market, you must visit this place for lunch or dinner.
