Visited the place for their fame, but a bit disappointed actually. Biryani was good no doubt, but not up to the mark. The green chutney they served with the salad tasted a bit stale. The chicken was moist but tasted slightly blunt. Overall, an average experience price-wise.
2 Big Handi kept in front of Dhaka Biryani straight at Dunlop crossing catches every food lovers eyes. They have a small dining with very few sitings. It seems clean but it smells fishy. Nothing much to order here except Biryani, so we tried both chicken and mutton.
Chicken Biryani @ Rs.165 (4/5) :
-------------------------------------------------------------
At first glance their Biryani didn't look that delicious neither the quantity seemed good on plate. Rice wasn't actually dry rather it was bit wet with the gravy. Underneath there was a big piece of chicken and a potato. After having first spoon I realised it tastes much better than it look. The Biryani was rich in flavour and tasted delicious. Well cooked chicken was overwhelming and overall it was tummy filling. They also served salad with the Biryani.
Mutton Biryani @ Rs.185 (4.25/5) :
----------------------------------------------------------------
One thing I instantly noticed is their Mutton Biryani is completely different than their Chicken Biryani. I mean the rice was cooked separately unlike other places, where they just add the meat piece into same rice.
Mutton Biryani was actually much better than Chicken Biryani. Here the rice was dry and it tasted just delicious. A big piece of tendered mutton with lumpsum meat and fat tasted just incredible. Overall their Mutton Biryani is highly delicious and deserves a try.
Pricing :
---------------------
They've increased their prices from the menu card available on Zomato. Now Chicken Biryani costs Rs.165 and Mutton Biryani costs Rs.185. This pricing is almost similer to well known reputated places. But as they don't have AC dining and tax, I think its bit overpriced.
Conclusion :
----------------------------
Don't go with the rating, try it once if you're really a Biryani lover. Dhaka Biryani has always served a different style of Biryani unlike normal Kolkata style Biryani. Now some people like that some people don't. Personally I love their signature style Biryani.
