Review Mission Cafe - Kolkata (Calcutta)

Krish dalmia
An Iconic Cafe that fills every boy or girl from 80s with nostalgia. Food is still filled with finger licking delicacies and served with spoonful of love. Inspite of shabby interior, the Cafe is still busy with ongoing familiar and non familiar faces.

This is a very nostalgic place. Going here since more than 20 years. Its a very casual standing restaurant where you can find some delicious Indian food. Very reasonable prices with a decent service. The food here do taste very good. Some of the must tries here are Chole Bhature, South Indian dishes, Hakka Noodles, bread toast, tea etc.
Manish Berlia
This place is best known for it's chole bhature they are really tasty other dishes in the restaurant are average but chole bhature is a must try. Chole bhature lovers will love this place😇😇😛😛😛

Well, I have came here for years when I was in my old office but my office moved somewhere else very good memories. Well, the prices are very costly so I would reccomend bringing extra money.

Some places never go out of trend and never fail to deliver l, that too in time.

This is a very old resturent .
I love the chola bhatura and the south Indian food . But the environment is not good .You should visit once.

Had Chinese combo which consists veg fried rice,Hakka chowmein, and veg Manchurian..
Quality was sufficient..
Place is good also.
Taste of food is good..

A classic food place. The channa is to swear by and the panner is also delicious. The naan was also soft and had a sweet after taste. Its a great place with great food, they have amazing cold coffee and gulabjamun as well.
Dhibya Bhuwalka
There quality has just fallen. I had order chowmein it looked very pretty but had a bad smell. Then we requested to change it. They were kind enough to do it but even the second time ut had a particular smell. Please do not order chinese from this place. Very disappointed.
Shubham Bajaj
At around 1:05 pm in the afternoon. I went for lunch . But no tandoor items was available. Then I ordered sambhar vada. Which was my biggest mistake. The bada was stale and was stinking. The worst food ever. Don't know haw they have degraded their quality. Please don't visit this place.
This kind of Indian cafe cum restaurants are very common in Office Para of Esplanade and Chandni Chowk area. They're mainly popular for good food quality and daily visit type pocket friendly pricing. This oldest branch of Mission Cafe falls into same category but doesn't follow the pocket friendly pricing.

They've a small dining where you can stand and share big tables to have food or you can pay bit more and sit in an AC dining just beside that. There's nothing special about their dining but I've heard their Chana Bhatura, Masala Dosa, Chowmein and Lassi are great. So I ordered one of them.

Chana Kulcha @ Rs.162 (3/5) :
-----------------------------------------
Chole Bhature on their menu is named like this. Whatsoever 2 big fluffy and soft Bhature was served along with Kali Chana, Aachar, Salad & Papad that filled the plate. Kali chana tasted really good along with those bhature.

There wasn't much to complain about the food, in fact I pretty much liked this dish. Except one thing the price, Rs.162 for Chole Bhature? Excuse me! Are you kidding me?

Lassi @ Rs.66 (1/5) :
----------------------------
Consistency of this lassi was same as water. I believe it was made of 70% water, hardly 10% of Dahi and rest ice cubes. It tasted so so not lassi that I couldn't even call it Ghol. I'm proud to say I've tasted the worst ever lassi in Kolkata so far, that also for Rs.70. Lassi opposite to Esplanade Tram Deepo is 1000x times better than this that costs only Rs.25.

Conclusion :
-------------------
They've fixed number of daily goers and if you aren't one of them & thinking about to visit this place, then please change your mind. Otherwise this will be the mission you'll regret every time you'll pass from Chandni Chowk.
The nostalgia of this place from my childhood makes me go to this restaurant everytime

The most famous dish of this place is the Chana Bhatura

It's yummy, Bhatura are nice.. but what I actually go for is the Chana.. they are very different than what we regularly get at other places

It has no gravy, the Chana are soft and is very delicious. They are just perfect for that cheat meal.

They have started the air conditioning section too.

I highly recommend this place .
Sahil
Located in central kolkata very old place nice dosa and other items but no one can still best there chana bhatura foodies who have eaten chana bhatura of delhi obvious will not like ot but still best in town If not compared to delhi

Have been visiting this place after really long time. And one thing is sure something's just don't change !!

Both South Indian & North Indian cuisine here lip smacking.

Dosa's are must try. Crispy and cruncy filled with that perfect mixture of aloo and Served with sambhar & coconut chutney.
Sambhar tastes so good that you'll want more of it.

I had the Butter masala dosa & Dhania masala dosa.

Butter masala dosa had that perfect Butterly flavor that goes perfectly with the coconut chutney & the Dhania Masala dosa is what I would suggest you all to try. It's definitely going to entice your taste buds with the perfect blend of spices in this Dosa that blends perfectly with the sambhar.

And to end it on a good note, Do try their Filter coffee !!

Just an amazing taste. Had some real nostalgic moments.

Untidy place having no sitting arrengment ...we had chola bhature n gulab jamun...in a plate they served two large oily bhature n dry chhole wd achar n salad wd papad...enough for meal,,gulab jamun tasted artificial i didn't like much

The place has no seating arrangement. You have to stand at one of the dozen or so steel tables and order. There is not much decor to talk about. The food was decent. Their lassi was delicious.
Anmol Bhuwania
Simply put: It's better to stay hungry rather than having dining experience here. Both quality as well as quantity is deteriorated to such a level that it's very tough to make a comeback.
Priyanka Choumal
You get the Best Chola Bhatura in Kolkata here.
The place serves veg food. This is one place where as a kid I've always been to with my grandfather just to have cold coffee with ice cream.
I love the Chola Bhatura here and recommend it to all..one must try !
Shagun Sureka
I’ve been having the chole bature’s and the chowmein and also the north indian here since childhood.. And to end this crazy tasty food with the best cold coffee with ice cream - perfect blend of coffee, milk, sugar and ice cream scoop 😍

Located in Chandni Chowk, a small place where the food gives you so much happiness that you forget whether there are AC’s or not to beat the heat.. It’s a cafe with the restaurant quality food where you stand and have ..

Staffs - *****
Food - *****
Price - *****

Do you need anything else ?? - I guess NO !
Parwaz Alam
I can’t complain about food, because food was literally awesome and tasty, the only thing I hate about this place is staff behaviour. Staff who sat on cash counter was very unprofessional. And even they charge GST on our meal but didn’t give us proper bill. Even they didn’t mention there GST number. I recommend to all of you, if u don’t want to ruin your hangout please stay away from there. And I request to restaurant owner, please replace that staff otherwise he will collapse you one day..
Anurag Jaiswal
Ordered online, so can't say much about location and ambience. The food was average. Steam Idly was good. Dosas can improve. Delivery time was excellent.
Kushal Agarwal
Pathetic food. Came here after a long time. Was very disappointed. Quality has extremely deteriorated. Never coming back. All that is good here are the childhood memories. Cheers!

This restaurant is centrally located in Kolkata , heard the name many of times but couldn't able to go & have it thier dishes,
So finally I ordered two masala dosa through online delivery,
Packaging was good , they could have upgraded their packing more upto the mark but nevertheless
Dosa was absolutely good as well as the sambar pure authentic south Indian flavour was flourishing,
Hoping to try their another dishes near future.

It's is okay
Pricing is a bit high
Food is very good
A nice place to chill out with friends
Will definitely recommend friends
Good service
Overall ok

You feel particularly bad when an established outlet which has been in the business for ages resorts to abusing monopoly and enriching itself, obviously at the expense of its dog customers!

And yes, this is what defines my latest experience at this, the flagship outlet of Mission CafÊ at Chandni!

Ordered their coveted Masala dosa, which was a big let-down. Their Chhola bhatura was a usual winner, but serving size has become microscopic - too small to fill even an average tummy!

Samosas were fine, and cutlet again, was pretty average and overly spicy.

Food presentation has downgraded big time and resembles the low-end road-side stalls, sorry to make such comments, but that’s the truth! There are glaring differences - as they used to be and what they are today. Prices are just too high and we would definitely re-think a re-visit!

Request management to restore yourselves to what you people used to be a decade back!
Anirban
A little eatery on Ganesh Chandra Avenue serving all kinds of vegeterian food from South Indian to North Indian to Chinese. Well as the name says it's far from the so called Cafe. There are a few tables on which u can place your food but have it standing. There are no sitting arrangements. We ordered only lassi which was quite good but was on the pricier side. Very famous among the office goers for a quick bite.
Margherita
A very basic outlet and very different from the Sector 5 restaurant. I had the sweet lassi and paneer chow, both of which I enjoyed. The lassi was especially refreshing. The chowmein was good even though quite bland. This is basic, pocket friendly, satisfying fare.
Manisha Trivedi
Today we have very bad experience with mission cafe renowned kulcha chole , very pathetic , kulcha is simply maida puri which is too much oily. Chole taste good as usual but not even garam so it is not enjoyable. Very bad experience. Once the very famous dish is very pathetic in taste and the presentation is not good .I feel very bad to write this type of comment for such an old cafe.
Ganesh Jindal
Disappointment to the power infinity!
Ordered veg noodles which was not at all edible.
Worst taste!
Road side stall gives better food!
Full plate was thrown in dustbin...
Sourabh
The unfailing mission of 'Mission Cafe' is to pamper the taste buds of its clients. Mission Cafe is famous for its chana kulcha, pizzas, south indian cuisine, and sandwiches. The only flaw that can be associated with the cafe due to restriction of space, there is no seating arrangement
Piyush Kedia
This is what you get when you order food @ Mission Cafe at lunch time in our Office -- Roasted lat (worm-as clearly seen in the attached picture )in both the butter naan. Disguised! Shame!
Jagrity
There is no chair. You have to stand and eat.😅
Vegetarian restaurant in budget.
Food is good.
I ordered:-
Veg chow (3/5)
Chola bhatura (3/5)
Special kesharia tea (3/5)
My friend who works in chandni chowk says that this restaurant is over 50 years !
Nidhi
It is situated at a very famous area called Chandani Chowk. Most of the offices are situated in chandani Chowk itself. The space was small earlier, where you had to stand and eat. But, now, they have started their own AC restaurant beside the old one. Great initiative on their part!
Mission cafe is very very famous! And I am not kidding! Every office goer of Chandani Chowk knows about this cafe. If you haven't visited yet, you should definitely visit this place some day. Vivek Jaiswal Hriday
Madho Agarwal
The place is good but carries one disadvantage that is you have to stand and serve yourself still channa masala and butter naan is recommended at cheap price
Rishabh Jain
If you are looking for a pocket friendly place with good quality food in Chandni Chowk area then this is the place you must go. Chole Bhature of this place is famous in Kolkata. No sitting facility available. If you are looking for a lunch then I will suggest you to go Kaka Tea.
Khemkaguruprasad
I would have rated in negative.
Not at all worth for money.
No arrangement for sitting.
Tasteless. Have no idea how the hell it is so popular. Absolute shit place. Regret going to this place. I suggest that no one should go to this place. Too annoyed and disappointed.
Fast service. Cheap food. Get what u order in the shortest of time. Absolute value for money. Do not miss the milk shake. Highly recommended. Happy customer 😀

I hav eaten here many times in past as I hav my workplace in Chandni but after listening abt there kulche chole couldn't resist myself
120 Rs plate 1st dry chole served with onions green chili and kulche what they call but it's was not kulcha neither Bhattura it was maida Puri so plz if anyone going lik me with high expectation will b dissapointed
Amritsari kulcha is more lik a fried Partha
Bhature r maida based Puri version but they r maked with baking soda so it gives a rubbery charm lik Nans
Cholle was better totally dry n full of masala lik u get in paharganj area in delhi
After this had a glass of Lassi but they spoiled it flavor with adding just a bit of rose syrup on top

Just a wish keep some authentic food out from ur experiments they r better served and taste better LLD ways
And my 2 rating is totally for those sandwiches and dosa I ate in past for this kulche Exp I would giv negative points.
Rajesh Kothari
One of my favourite restaurant of all time tomorrow try there masala dosa they introduced lassi sweet n salty but a request to management kindly improve quality of food n service they have already a established brand but have to be more consistent due to high expectations from food lovers
Rimpa Roy
Crowded during lunch time. Vegetarian foods are quite delicious. No such seating arrangements. Ordered veg chowmein and tandoori butter nun and aludum. I like the taste of chowmien. But tandoori butter nun was thin and crispy. I really don't like the nun. Nothing says about the ambience. But staffs are helpful and very friendly behavior. Price also OK. The quality is good.

...No extra additional tax and vat...
Srivar Harlalka
This place has to be one of the best places in town for Chola Bhatura! Only thing they could probably work on is the presentation and hygiene. Otherwise, top place for snacks/finger food.
Mehal Dokania
They serve one of the best chola bhuturas in the town. The chola especially is amazing. The bhuturas can get too crispy at times though. Other than that the Hakka noodles, paneer sabzi and coffee are also good. It's for office goers so one has to stand and eat but the food is worth it.
Rahul Singha
Mission cafe is located at Chandni Chowk, a busy area with ok ambience. This cafe is clean with no sitting arrangements. It mainly serves snacks and beverages .

Service is nice with reasonable price.

Tried Chana Batura and cheese sandwich. Both were decent but still nothing to remember but serve the purpose.

If one is visiting Kolkata and is a foodie then Mission Cafe visit is a must. Having said that it is almost adamant that you try the signature chola bhatura or kulcha. I have never been to a restaurant that serves such high quality of food and that too at a reasonable price. I visit this place very often just to have chola bhatura, it has the same biryani effect on me.
Although I am not a huge fan of it's other dishes but those of fine too.
Rating:
Food: 3.5

P.S. There are no chairs available. So you might have to stand and eat or can always get a takeaway.
Ankita Dey
Mission Cafe is a very popular in Chandni Chowk area. Located in G. C. Avenue which is very close to my office. Useually we visited here for having our evening snacks. It's nice small place for food and gossip with office colleagues after hectic schedule.
Vegetarian Beast
A well known old face. Situated near chandni chowk metro in ganesh chandra avenue. No chairs to sit but 6 - 7 tables to stand and eat. Place was clean. CafÊ cum south indian eating house which serve according to me above average south indian and other snacks. Their cafÊ products were good. Ambience and hospitality was good. Service was in time and presentation was okay. Price was bit high. I tried their masala dosa it was taste good nothing special. Chatni was average but sambhar was really good.
Pia
It is a small cafe located on Ganesh Chandra avenue. It is an old and quite known place. There is no sitting arrangement but there are rows of tables where you can have your food. We had toasted cheese sandwich, onion masala Dosa and Dahi vada. The food was good and the service was quick. The staff was very cooperative. But the prices are on the higher side.
VijayMsam
The original mission cafe the pioneer which made it's name from this place famous amongst people working in the area and amongst family who were regulars during Sunday's
Best dish in the menu is chola bhatura for which mission cafe is famous for also liked there veg chowmein
Good place to relive your old memories

Dipyaman Basu (whenstomachtickles)
A popular eatery famous for its strategic location advantage. The place has no sitting arrangement. One needs to stand and have food and even share tables with other people. I have tried Masala Dosa and Chana Batura here a couple of times. Nothing exotic or excellent. But does its job. The waiters are well behaved but sometimes the service time gets unnecessarily prolonged.
Nikita Nangalia
Did not like the place quiet a lot . Felt it was hyped. Tried chola batura which was way to oily and chowmein was okaish. Wouldn't visit again. :-/
Prerana Parakh
Pathetic food. They don't have any arrangement of sitting. You have to eat standing there.. I have never ate such a pathetic food. We ordered chola bhatura, fried rice and Manchurian, in which bhatura was like thin crispy papad. Fried rice tasted like veg Kali mirch pulao that was too bad in taste.. now we tasted Manchurian, it was like some kofta ka subzi with watery gravy full of ginger chunks.
Guys I would suggest you never ever visit this particular place in Chandni chowk.
There were some more visitors who also complained for food quality..
Its better to have roadside foods rather going here..
I wish I could give negative rating then I would give -9 out of 10.
Money is yours guys. Choose wisely, live well. Dint waste ur money in this cafe's food..
Dhruba Banerjee
Located in GC Avenue the heart of comupter business in Kolkata. Very near to Eastern Logica Infoway. This place is uniquely desiged, bit old school. Food is normal. Dosa was good with tasty chatni and fresh sambhar. Hygiene may be a problem here.
Shailesh Ganeriwala
This place is just fantastic. The Chana Bhatoora is a dish to die for and also the cold coffee along with it. A small place near Chandni but very old and renowned. North Indian is also good and service is fast. Should concentrate in little renovation if possible
Sumit Surai
This is a popular eatery in Ganesh Chandra Avenue and hence remains crowded most of the time. They have tables with no chair. So you will have to stand and eat. But the tables are wide enough and of comfortable heights so standing and eating is not a problem. One thing I liked here is they have small stools kept below the tables where you can place your bags. A nice and comfortable solution.

Service is fast considering the crowd. Waiters, I found, are well behaved and friendly. The tables and dishes were also clean.

Coming to food, heard a lot about their Chhole Bhature / Chana Kulcha. The Chana was really awesome. A must try if you are here. But the Kulchas disappointed big time. Tasteless and oily. Just too oily.

Another specialty here is the garden chop. It comes stuffed with mashed potatoes along with spinach and peas. The filling being uncommon the chop tastes different. Not a bad item. Surely recommend trying atleast once.

The green idly was super. Soft, warm and delicious. Here the batter is mixed with corriander and gives a nice chutney like taste. The white chutney was good but the sambhar was too sweet.

Among dessert tried gulab jamun. Which was nice and soft.

In all the food was satisfactory to good. But the main problem here is the pricing. They do not have AC, they do not have seating arrangement, still their pricing is lot more than what the nearby South Indian restaurants with seating arrangements charge. While coming out got a glimpse of their kitchen, which was like any average small restaurant and not very hygienic. So, no idea why they are charging so much, when they are just another normal small restaurant with no extra facilities. Also the amount of Chhole was very little.

In all there are better places around when you are hungry. But if you want Chhole this is a must visit place.
Sohom Chatterjee
If you don't mind having a completely vegetarian snack and standing the entire time while you're having it, this might be the place for you. For the price they're charging, the food is brilliant. The Cream Coffee is one of the best affordable cups I've had at a cafÊ.
Subhadeep Dey
So being a daily visitor to dalhousie and ganesh chandra avenue for work, i have tasted mission cafe's food too many times. This is the place where food gets ordered from most of the CA & Law firms. It's a vegeterian restaurant and serves quality food. You can surely taste the south indian foods, its good. And for lunch I prefer the jeera rice and paneer butter masala, which is really good. Try out chili paneer with butter tandoori nan, its really tasty.
Ayushman Arun
Was looking for a good place to eat in this area and found this on Zomato. Well, the place is good, ambience will give you the feel of old Calcutta and the waiters are little bit cold. Food is great and so is the coffee. No airconditioner and you have to stand and eat.
Try it once for sure
Shreya Kanoi
Well this is my mom's favorite place for chola bhatura, and she doesn't just like any place very easily! The paneer rice is ok too. I'll always love this place, more because of a personal connect maybe :) But do try the chole bhatura here!
Kanishk Toshniwal
Mission cafe has been catering food .. Some really good food since a long time .. I really enjoy eating out here .. The chana bhatura is the USP of the restaurant. The cold coffee is another amazing thing.. You can relish almost everything of the eatery be it North Indian South Indian and Chinese ..
Sumit Lundia
Just one dish to have here, chana masala. They serve fried bhatura and dry chana. The chana is just heavenly. I like to accompany it with milk rose. A perfect combination.
Preetha Simlai
Dropped by with my daughter for a snack. Limited south Indian cuisine... The onion cheese sada dosa would have tasted better with fried onions as against raw ones. With summer round the corner the menu for milk shakes is extremely limited.. Only one...all in all an OK experience...
Anubhav Sinha
It's a legendary place next to the chandni chowk metro station where I often go for the dosa, coffee or kesari tea. Lots of other great savouries to saviour but this is usually my staple breakfast when I go electronic goods hunting in chandni chowk
Pawan Jaiswal - Mr Foodie Kolkata
LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION:
I have been hearing about this place from so many days. Been passed by this place 1000 times but didn't entered any day until it was yesterday. With 4 outlets around the city this place falls at the busiest Chandni Chowk crossing towards the G.C Avenue. They serve pure veg with so many varieties for you to choose.

AMBIANCE AND SERVICE:
Not a very huge one but a standard place. The tables are been made for you with the chairs missing. Its simply take your stuff stand and eat. Basically it stays too crowded so they can't afford to allow people sitting for long. Place is clean. Service is prompt but the staff are too busy in themselves. We have to call them, still were polite and friendly.

FOOD:
The menu was very confusing as its veggie menu so very difficult for me to choose what to have. Jut wanted to have something light in variety. We ordered Veg Chow with two cold cream coffee.
The order came in 10 mins. Veg chow was seriously like any other road side chow, very poor and taste was very average.
Cold coffee was a bit satisfactory thou. Still found the coffee to be less cool than it should be.

CHOW: 6/10
CC: 8/10

QNQ AND PRICES:
Quality was average, quantity was somehow alright. Prices are ok in some places of the menu but Rs.70 for such a Veg chow is seriously too much they are charging.

CONCLUSION:
Expectations were too much from here but lastly did not satisfy me at the end. The famous Chana bhatura here is still to be tasted as well as the south indian is pending too. Second visit due. :-p

NOTE: This review is based on my personal visit and experience to this place.
Sudip Bose
Its situated at a very noisy place.. The waiters and staff also create a lot of noise. But is serves some standard stuff, which is priced within the reach of the sales force or spare part buyers who regularly frequent G C Avenue. I ordered masala dosa.. I found the samber bit too tangy. the cold coffee with icecream was good. My friend who ordered pineapple shake found too much of artificial flavor.
It isnt a place for foodies .. Its a place for a quick bite and the joint serves the purpose. Since it is vegetarian, the clientele is also different,
S Mondal
Busy cafe located near chandni chouk. I frequent this place quite often. Food is pretty good. And the price is just rite without burning a hole in ure pocket. Like their kulchas, dal, matar paneer, cheese sandwich. They also have a variety of juices and shakes to go with ure food .. Recommended if u r in chandni
JD
Channa kulcha is the same kadu sayce is the same .. Samosa is the same .. Cold coffe is the same ... Yummm as ever .. Branches cannit make this channa kulcha .. Have grown up eating these .. No change in 30 years .. I am a die hard fan
Dhruba Jyoti
Well it's good enough. Although all the waiters are kinda rude in some way. They didn't respond to any calls unless they feel it. The place is full most of the time as this is a popular place out there. The food was good enough.
Rupesh Gupta
Have been hearing about Mission Cafe since Long. Had been to a Friend's Office in Chandni for Lunch today. He ordered food from Mission Cafe. My expectations were high but was equally disappointed with the food. We ordered Paneer Butter Masala, Mix Veg, 3 Tandoori Butter Naan and Onion Salad. Mix Veg was ok but Paneer butter Masala had watery Gravy. Tandoori Butter Naan was more like a Tandoori Roti. Inspite of saying Only Onion salad multiple times, the salad hardly had onions. All this for Rs.305, so, one can say, pricing is reasonable. But I am not going for it again.
Priyanka Mukherjee
Mission Cafe located on Ganesh Chandra Avenue, near Chandni Metro Station.Since its a complete veg joint,i have never thought of giving it a try untill today( today also went there with a colleague, who is a vegetarian), and i actually liked the food. This is a smal place, where you don't get to sit, they have these long tables where you can have your food standing. We had veg cutlet, naan, dry chana, some butter dal and cold coffee, the quantity of the food isn't much, specially if somebody wants to have a heavy meal they need to order more than a plate, but since the prices aren't too high thats ok.
Subhabrata Das
Placed order for my office Diwali party and didn't have to regret. We got veg cutlet, gulab jamun and dahi vada and every item was superb. Excellent food quality with good parcel service.
Anup Patodia
This a different kind of place all together. They have tables but no chair. Ya Stand and eat sort off. And looks like a chaotic place when you look at it. However food they offer are really delicious. The menu is not vast but very much appropriate to include almost variety of food that people like in general. It's filling, its tasty and its in budget.

Excellent food. When its channa Bhatura its only Mission cafe in kolkata. Superb quality. Excellent service have been many times with family and guests and every body has licked their fingers while eating chana bhatura

Well after reading so many positive comments.. I decided to give it a try with a friend of mine.. nd trust me guys I am not going to visit this place anymore. We ordered Dahi vada and Veg Chowmein.. both were disastrous

One of the best restaurants in Central Kolkata. Situated at the busy hub of the city, you'll always find this place crowded. From the lip smacking dry chana to the soft baby Nan to the refreshing Pineapple blossom, this has been among my favourites for a long long time. The only downside to this vegetarian heaven is that there is no place for us to sir. The kulcha has turned out to be a bit oily these days. I would recommend going for Nan with chana and paneer. Absolute bliss. Strongly recommended.
I was advised about the chhole bhatura of Mission Cafe by many. On my first visit I was surprised to see no chhole bhatura in the menu but the very polite server gratiously took the order and served me a plate of two big bhatura and a bowl full of chhole.
The sight was tempting but the taste was mediocre. The chhole was dry and tasted bland on my palate. The bhaturas were big and crumbled in minutes.
However, the eatery is clean, well lit and the servers are very polite.

Situated in business hub of the city ...famous specifically for chola bhatura and of course other items too. N north Indian stuffs are amazing too but I m not dat fond of Chinese served over there. The taste is a little weird. They should improve on it.

This is an uninviting place near Chadni Chowk metro. But it serves perhaps best and the most hygienic vegetarian food in the whole of Dalhousie. The tables have got no chairs and you have to stand and eat. It becomes kind of irritating standing and waiting for the food as they take a lot of time to prepare the food from the scratch. But the food is worth every pain you take to have it. Must try the samosa and pizza!! And it's very cheap.. That's why 4/5..

This was my first visit and I am in love with their white tea served with saffron. The taste was awesome. I sat outside under the tree and the tea made me forget the traffic commotion outside. It was a big cup of tea and of a high quality taste, and it costed 25 rupees. I bet the CCDs will meet their closure if many outlets of mission cafes crop up in the city serving their creamy and delicious tea.
I got to visit here many more and try their other beverages.

Been here for many times, this restaurant is a decent one in town, you can try some of the items like coffee, dosas, idli, sandwiches, burgers, sweets, ice cream etc which can make your day...

The ambiance is not so good and it is very rush especially on Sunday..

I recommend to all foodie to visit this restaurant though it is not perfect place for hangout but the food is very delicious and moreover it is pocket friendly ..

Good cafe at heart of Kolkata for a quick bite of meal. I have been there many times during lunch hours and experience was never disappointing. You can order anything from their menu.

Its a vegetarian cafe in Chandi Chowk...i like this place very much...it is near my workplace...the item which i love here is chole bhature...i am a big fan of this item....u have to stand and eat in this cafe as there is no chairs....overall a big plus for this cafe.

Great taste, fast service and the variety of selections that we can choose from.
No such ambience over here, but overall it's a good place to dine.

What a nice place to have those creamy tadka and channa masalla......served thick and fast....also are some really fresh smoothies served here.... And a lot more to offer on the menu.... Superb taste

Just too ordinary food considering the prices. A friend recommended me this restaurant. But, I am sure you can get much better quality food at this price. The interiors are not good at all. Street food at chandni tasted better.

eat anything here & u would never regret...

chowmein, pizzas, chole bhature, north Indian, kababs, u will love it all

do not forget the gulab jamun ever.... it will ur biggest mistake.....

just beside the chandni chowk metro station & open all the days is a big advantage....

It's situated in Ganesh chandra avenue near chandni Chowk metro station. Have been there uncountable times and the taste is always the same. Loves to have food over there especially chana bhatura. It's their speciality. South Indian food is also good.

It's a restaurant basically meant for office peoples as no seating is there. Only 6-7 standing tables are there and you can have food in your car also. They will serve there. But really very nice food. Will surely recommend to try out there.

Why don't they make it air conditioned in such sweltering hot Kolkata. One of the best chana bhatura and yes not to forget south Indian food of Kolkata. Located very close to chandni chowk metro station this place is ideal for black dry chola and big bhaturas.

This outlet is situated, straight from Ganesh chandra avenue. It is a small place, no palce to seat. Its famous for its chana baturra, and its delicious hot gulab jamun. Bread pizza is very much suitable for snacks. We have many times ordered these items, for a delivery at office. It is mainly flocked by office people and students. Ambience is not so good.

For as long as I can remember, getting here was a mission by itself, considering this is one cafe that isn't on my food'print!
But the journey is well worth it, given that whatever I have had here, has been hugely satisfying and is money (and effort, not at all in this order) rather well-spent!
To cut a long review short, I could kill for their sumptuous Channa Kulchhas - which is incomparable in the price range (Psst: Kwalitys on Park Street, serves a sit-down version with humongous fluffed Dalda-fried kulchhas, but at a luxury price range!)
Mission Cafe's kulchhas are rather oily, but I'm not complaining! (I'm just warding off cynics who are fussed about greasy food!) It's the channa that is the clincher: Dark, dry and baking soda-infused, but soft as hell and with the most memorable channa masala and a reasonably decent-sized chunk of soft, boiled alu with a sliver of lime, without which the dish is simply incomplete! I insist on kachha pyaaz and one mirchi as must-haves, all to be washed down with a chilled Thums Up!
All in all, it deserves a 'standing' ovation (literally) and your mission for some amazing food is bound to be accomplished here. You have my word!

Mission Cafe - A pure Veg eatery.
=====
Intro:
Located when you walk straight from ganesh chandra avenue, (walking from Paradise Cinema, Esplanade, Cross Aliah hotel and the next ganesh chandra avenue crossing take a right) cross lalani stores/saboo stores and there on the right side you locate the board saying mission cafe. The cafe is not extraordinarily designed but has a simple eat and go concept. They don't even have chairs to sit. The concept is stand and eat. Personally, i would prefer a bit more hygiene and less mirrors.

Nevertheless, plain sailing menu and looking at the ambience a bit, i continued with my order. The staffs were courteous and welcoming.
=====
Ordered:

1) Chola Bhatura - The chola's were amazingly tasty. Reminded me of Pindi Chana. (Punjabi Dish). The bhatura was way too oily and not even like a bhatura. It tasted to me like papad. Disappointed with the bhatura. Highly satisfied with the chola's.

2) Cheese Onion and Capsicum Pizza - A bit home style pizza with a thick dough base. Though Tasty but could have been better if a bit more thin.

I took a sprite to gulp in. Burpppp! Bill came to 240 bucks.
=====
Meal for two: 300 - 500 max.
=====
Pros:

1) Welcoming Staffs. Good hospitality.
2) Quality is not bad.
3) Stand and Eat Concept in Kolkata.
4) Pure Veg Kiosk.
5) To me, it was reasonably priced.

Cons:
1) Not every one would like to eat standing.
2) Ambience is nothing extraordinary.
=====
Summary:

Food Quality 3.6/5
Food Quantity 3.6/5
Taste 3.6/5
Hygiene 3.5/5
Value for money 3.5/6
Hospitality 3.5/5
Ambience 3.2/5
=====
Conclusion:
i would revisit it soon to give more detailed review on other specific dishes. From my observation, i found people mostly eating Indian Food here.
=====
Note: Unbiased Review based on my dining experience.

It's a quick bite stop. Decent quality of food, but overpriced. The items are priced per piece, which is strange! For example if you order dahi vada (at Rs 35 presently) you shall get one vada, though this is the cost of one plate of two pieces in the market). I've visited this place twice or so. I found the service slow too, though there is no lack of service staff in a small joint like this.

Good for working people looking for a decent place for some light and quick snacks and don't mind spending more.

Few of my friends have their office in chandni chowk, they use to share about the food of mission cafe specially their garden cutlet and sandwiches. I was there to buy some electronics and felt hungry. Decided to try out mission cafe. It's a an old cafe at the official area hence they have customers who frequently have their meal,
At mission cafe, so they don't give you a menu you have to ask for it. Where ever i have been one sandwich means two slice of sandwich, here it is one slice. So i had to order 2 sandwiches and coffee. Sandwich was okay but the coffee was good. I had requested less sugar for the coffee they made it with less sugar.
For full 5 reading : Hygien and ambience has to be taken care of.

Eating here since childhood do have a great expectation from them. However staying away from home for work never always get an opportunity to visit them. However got a chance to visit Mission cafe after 7 years. The tastes still remains the same even though there is a slight increase in price.
Their Chana and baby nuns are still awesome. get good south indians and North Indians. Overall was extremely satisfied with what we had. Loved it !!

this joint has been there since ages nd is famous for its "chaana kulchas", "Butter Naans with Vegetable Kebabs" and its milk shakes.
The chana Kulchas served here are lip smacking except tht the kulcha is sometimes a tad oily. Veg kebab is "a slice of paneer, cauliflower, capsicum, tomatoes and potatoes" tossed in a masala graavy. Served with hot baby naans, it is a treat to have.
have been here on numerous occassions and would continue to visit this place on a regular basis in the future.
