The cabin was one of the highlights of the 60's in Kolkata.
Whether it's talking about slapping cigarette butts on the table, or sharing a fee fry while chatting with friends to save pocket money. Or maybe the first love of the life of a person floating in the dream of the future in solitude.
Yes, that's exactly how the cabin started in Kolkata. It's located just at opposite of Reliance Trends Gariahat.
Place was neat and clean.
It remains close from 1p.m-4p.m
Taste of food is good.Price is reasonable

Taste of food is good.
I tried :
Fish Kabiraji (5/5) ₹95
Chicken Gravy Cutlet (4/5) ₹90 ▶️ but gravy was given from mutton curry so those who have restrictions on red meat please be careful before ordering.

It is located at Gariahat junction. This cabin is famous among locals. We visited there and found that it's true that it's quite famous among mass. In this corona situation the people were in queue for getting thier respective seats. As the place is very short so sitting arrangement is less. I guess it will be around 20 people max.
We had tried thier Moglai Paratha and Fish Kabiraji. The taste wise both were really delicious. But if you are sceptical about oil then you must not try those food items.
The place is clean and they are providing hand bowls to wash your hands before having foods.
Another famous food item you can try that is Kulfi. It is very famous here.

The place has existed for a long time and we have heard stories from our parents about how they also visited this place during their teenage years.
If you are looking for something with great ambiance and top notch service this is not the place.
It's a pocket friendly food cabin which is usually very busy during Eve weekends. Their speciality is moghlai porota and mutton kosha, to be honest it tasted very average with too much oil but was not bad.
The mutton pieces were very small and tasted average as well. The price was 85 for moghlai and around 100 for mutton.
The store is also very small which makes it a bit congested and too hot during summer days.
As a whole a good place to experience our old culture with average food.
Tridha Bose
Food is good, I tried Gravy cutlet. Uff.... Moghlai is more of flour sheet. They still dont take digital payment. Service is slow and casual. Tables need more cleaning.
Avijit Chakravorty
Food is excellent. Muglai paratha with mutton kassa is must try.
Value for money. However they only accept cash, there should be more payments option

Superb restaurant located near Gariahat crossing famous for several food delicacies like mughlai paratha, fish kobiraji, cold kulfi and many. It's a very small restaurant but huge demand since decades due to its tasty foods.
Kunal Bhowmick
One of the oldest eatery in Gariahat sector...
No fancy frills...
Shared seating and you might end up in queue during weekends...
This eatery doesn't have ac and also they deal only in cash...
We went on a weekend although there was no waiting at that time but we had to accommodate on sharing basis...
We had mutton kobiraji and mughlai parantha...
Mughlai parantha was having less oil than other places...
Pocket friendly pricing...

Kolkata is a city of laid back charm. People here romanticize the rains, believe in slow fashion, and savor their bhat ghoom ( Lyadh ).
The old cabins and kitchens of Kolkata still reverberate this culture. This cabins takes you to catapult you back in time.
These cabins do still have their fanatic followers, who refuse to move on to their more swankier counterparts, and whose days are not made without a daily evening dose of that moghlai paratha, kabiraji and tea !
Das Cabin is one of those cabins which is still attracting crowds and sustaining the culture .
All items are pocket friendly so you don't have to think about it.
I ordered Mutton Cutlet - 60
& Fish Kabiraji -75 which were good and efficient in portion .

Das Cabin is an age old institution located near Gariahat Crossing. It's a tiny square box of an eatery with tiny tables and tinier chairs and an even smaller menu, but what they serve is of superior taste and quality.
I vehemently recommend the Moghlai Porota, Fish fry and the cutlets too. The Mutton Kosha is also very fine. The prices are really cheap.
Word of caution, this place might not look the best or the most hygienic, but the stuff you get here is seriously good. Not sure how many years longer Calcutta can hold on to these little gems, but if you are ever around the area, this is a place you need to be in.
Sanjoy Bose
An old time favorite.
Nowadays the cabin culture is almost lost in Kolkata. Das cabin gives you that long lost taste.
I recommend the evergreen Mughlai Porota and Kasha Mangsho.

It is undoubtedly one of the best place to try out Bengali snacks in Kolkata. It has got that old authentic Kolkata vibe and that old day cabin sort of setup.
The snacks are so authentic and delicious and it is a miracle how the taste remains the same every time.
Choices are available for fish , chicken and mutton items.
Tea and coffee are not served here.
Various items like:fry, kabiraji, afghani, cutlet.A special attraction is the cutlet with gravy which has a wonderful "ghughni"served on top of a cutlet. It is just wonderful!
The sauce and the kashundi served along with salads and the snacks is also yum!
Another special attraction is the Kulfi which has a very strong flavour of saffron and a faluda type dessert sort of dish.It is a must try after snacks on a summer evening. Its chilled and fresh. You must order it only once you are midway with your snacks.

The food is excellent. The sauces are to die for. The place is small and thus stats crowded all evening. One negative aspect of the place is that they do not offer temperature checks or mask mandate. If you're looking for good food in the Gariahat area, you can visit there. But remember one thing, if you have some extra money to splurge then do have their kulfi. I make sure to have it every time I visit the place. It is one one the few places in the area which offers great kulfi!

This place already have a different fan base for their excellent Mughlai paratha and the fish cutlet and all kinds of cutlets..... the special item available over here is the kabiraji cutlet

Das cabin is a hidden gem place in Gariahat with a maximum accomodation of 20-25 people. They mainly serve deep fried dishes like fish fry , Afghani chicken, kabiraji, mughlai etc.<br/><br/>In my last visit to this place, we ordered fish kabiraji which is mainly a fillet of fish dipped in a batter and deeply fried. The outer layer was crispy , though I felt the coating could be a little thin. But it tasted really good and was filling. Price was Rs70.<br/><br/>●Falooda kulfi- Being a kulfi lover, I had to try this from this place. Quite reasonable yet so tempting and delicious. A must try. Price-50

Best nostalgic place in Kolkata located in gariahat <br/>We ordered chicken kaviraji, fish kaviraji and kulfi <br/><br/>Food quality nice price quite cheap but ambience not upto mark... Das Cabin is a popular cabin. It was located at Gariahat area. I had visited their and tried Mughlai Paratha.. The paratha was so soft served with potato curry. The taste of this was good.

This is a very old name in Kolkata. Recently with my friends, I had been in this place. Tried their mughlai paratha,it was delicious and decent, the sabzi with it was okay type. But the main thing is behaviour of staff members are very bad.
Nipon Haque
I will never get bored of the Chicken Kabiraji served at Das Cabin. The crunchy Moglai Paratha is another must have item. On a typical evening, one has to wait for a while before they can be seated, in this old and time-worn cabin. Parking can be found under the Gariahat flyover.

Some days earier, i visited this small food joint. This is situated at Gariahat. The food joint is small and they have sitting arrengement for 10-15 people. The staffs are good. But the food is worst. The Mughlai was saltless. It tasted so bad. I didn't like their food.<br/>The food I ordered:-<br/>🔴Mughlai:- 65/-<br/>Thank you.

A very small restaurant.. situated near gariahat more..the place was moderately crowded..we ordered mutton kabiraji, chicken cutlet, moglai paratha and kulfi..moglai paratha was awesome and the rests were average..but the kulfi was not up to the mark(according to my taste buds)..all over a good place to go..

This place is situated at Gariahat road.<br/><br/>Recently I visited this place and I tried their mughlai. Mughlai was not good, and potato curry was totally tasteless. Prices are reasonable. But staff's behaviour was bad. They have basic seating arrangement. Mughlai was not so good as my expectation.

This place is heritage place, and located at the crowded area of Gariahat.<br/>Ordered chicken moghlai.<br/>First I must say the behavior of staffs are really bad.<br/>Now come to food.<br/>Moghlai was not up to the mark.<br/>This is over hype place at all.

it's a heritage cabin in South Kolkata.<br/><br/>As I know it's crossed 60yrs. one of the famous and oldest cabin shop in kolkata.<br/><br/>we just went this cabin. space is too much short. you have to wait in weekend. frankly taste not so good, but ok. quality is not so well. very oily snacks. Mughlai is so so.<br/><br/>Also we ordered mutton culet, chicken afgani and gravy chicken cutlet. paratha is too mush hard and totally oily. Main thing price is reasonable.

A heritage eatery. This place isn't much attractive but everyday they manage a huge crowd. Small accomodation with marble tables are laid accompanied with wooden chairs.<br/><br/>We ordered....<br/>🔹 Chicken Cutlet : It was too small although it taste good. They give kasundi, sauce and salad along with the cutlet.<br/>🔸 Mutton Kabiraji : I had a horrible experience with this dish. I hardly found any Mutton fillet/minced within the egg net.<br/>🔹Moglai Paratha : It was decent considering the price. Along with this they give aloo torkari, salad and sauce.<br/>Service was great, within 15mins everything was served to our table. Staffs are very polite and friendly.<br/>Anusree Halder

I had the following items in Das Cabin. It's a very old joint with limited space..used to visit also during my school days.<br/><br/>1. Fish Kabiraji --> 4.5/5( It was delicious and the fish was also soft. They used either bhetki/bhola bhetki. Sause with it also delicious )<br/><br/>2. Mughlai Parotha --> 4/5( This was also nice, tasted really well, but the aloo torkari was average. Overall good ).<br/><br/>3. Fish Fry --> 2.5/5 It small in size and amount of fish was also less. It was hard because of the outer coverage.<br/><br/>4. Mutton Cutlet --> 3/5( It was also average. Can't describe it as good or bad ).<br/><br/>Overall it is one of the best places to have Fish Kabiraji and Moglai Parotha, but for other dishes it's quite average. <br/><br/>Overall rating will be 3.5/5

Fish fillet fry covered with egg net... It was delicious... Lastly Kulfi Malai was sweet and creamy... The Malai was awesome... Service was good... Price was very pocket friendly

It was a thursday evening and I decided to have some afternoon snacks. Searched through zomato and came across this place. It was a bit hard to locate by google map as the cabin was by the side of the pavement well hidden behind some street shops. It is a small joint but looked quite in demand as there were many people busy with their food. It was a very old lookung place just like the cabins we come across in College Street area. We ordered a fish fry and a mughlai paratha. The fish fry was good and the fish seemed fresh but was very dissapointed with the mughlai paratha. It lacked salt and had no taste. Had a somewhat average experience.

Well, legendary place in gariahat, has been running through all the age groups for a decade or more than that.. Mughlai parathas and fish fries along with kavirajis are legendary. One must try their afghani variants as well.. Only issue is the sitting arrangement.. Most of the time there will be a queue.. But once the food is in your plate.. Its worth the wait..

Tried on Mughlai Paratha in this elite food place and got the yummiest stuff. One deducted for space crunch but overall a must go for snack-foodies at Gariahat. Certainly another visit is pending to try on Mutton Kasha. Prompt service and really tasty food. 😊😊🤗🤗

This place is very close to my office so I visit this place quite often and the owner and the staffs are all well known to me.First of all this carries a nostalgia of old Calcutta and the menu is quite pocket friendly and awesome. They serve breakfast in morning from 7 am to 11,30 and I visit quite often for it as I love hard Butter toast with omelette or Poach sometimes a piece of Fish fry to add on to it.In evening from 4 pm you will get the real chunk which is Moglai Paratha Fish/Chicken/Mutton Cutlet ( Gravy or Dry ) or Kabiraji along with Chicken & Mutton Kasha & Kulfi in dessert. They used to serve Tea but nowA days its only in morning that too tea bags earlier they serve Leaf tea both in Morning & Evening.<br/><br/>This place is a must try for all and try to grab all the delicacies as all are just awesome along with Badal Da and Sreekanta Da who are serving here for a decade now !!

1st of all the behaviour of the service delivery person was very bad. It was like he was tolerating and giving free foods. 2ndly not clean and sitting arrangement is very bad. You have to wait to get a seat. Coming to the foods ,ordered 2 dishes.Fish gravy cutlet which was good but mughlai paratha was no properly fried and was not cut in pieces. When asked that person replied "there is no system of cutting" overall it wasn't a good experience and will think before visiting that place again.

This cute little place is absolutely perfect to fulfill your evening needs. They serve amazing snacks items at reasonable price, and the quality is outstanding. The food is absolutely fresh and well prepared too. I love the fish fry and the mutton kabiraji. Mughlai paratha and chicket cutlet are also amongst the must try items. One should definitely give this place a visit to feel the charm of the street food of Calcutta at a very reasonable price.

Hygiene is a BIG issue here, but you won't find that as an excuse to curb the crowd's enthusiasm in visiting this eatery. Famous for moghlai paratha, this place also serves bread toast, chicken kasha and a few other items. The moghlai paratha might come free with a stone chip or two. The trick is locating such a stone before putting it in your mouth along with the food. They don't clean the tables as often as they should so finding a morsel or two of food lying on the table when you have just taken a seat is not surprising. The kasha might be good but the moghlai paratha has not been able to retain it's taste over the years. If you want cheaply priced moghlai paratha that comes free with a bit of history then you might think about visiting this place.
HRISHIKESH BARUI
Well its an age old eatery located in bustling Gariahat. The service is quick. But there are always only 1-2 items available from the Menu.i Had the Moghlai paratha which was basically egg moghlai. This was tolerable.Next i had the Fish Fry.The Fish used in Fish Fry is bhola bhetki and it was not very palatable.Anyways due to its location it is always very crowded and owmers are going to take advantage of the crowd. So maybe lets not expect any improvement..

I love the Moghlai Paratha, Afghani fish, Fish Kabiraji & Kulfi. Though the joint is very shabby small & compact but it is neat & tidy, always bustling with people. Very pocket friendly, appetizing & good portion size. Taste is average, but Das Cabin gives you a very nostalgic feel of 80's Kolkata. But a little less oil in my food won't hurt I think.

It's quite has a history. My mother used to enjoy it's iconic Mughlai parantha when she was a school girl. It's great to see how well they have maintained their standards. The Mughlai parantha along with the potatoes taste really heavenly. The presentation of food and the ambience may not be top notch but the taste his definitely better than any posh outlet.

Nice joint that has the glorious retro feel to it of the North Calcutta heritage somewhat... Always been a visitor to this place but reviewing now....<br/>Love the mughlai, paratha, mutton kosha, fries and all for casual eating out...

North Calcutta still tops the list when it comes to cabin but South Kolkata is no less though few in numbers compared to North... One fine evening wanted to have kabiraji in gariahat and some casual Addas and without a much tought visited Das cabin... We ordered kabiraji and moghlai parantha and the food was good in quality and quantity according to the price it is ordered. Although the ambience is not something we look for in a streetside cabin still the hygiene should be focus in mind.. 😊

Das Cabin is an old eatery located at Gariahat crossing serving delicious kabirajis, cutlets and mughlai parathas. The place is small more like a cabin, 15-16 people can accommodate. I have been going to this place since my childhood. It's a very old place and yes the don't maintain the get up of the restaurant or anything for which many people don't feel like going there. But once you try the food you will fall in love. Their chicken kabiraji and paratha mutton kasha is my favorite. They are super delicious but the food is a bit oily. If you are very health conscious then this place is not for you but if you are a foodie then definitely try this out. Also if you are looking for ambience then this place is not for you.

Das Cabin, close to Gariahat market place is one of those eateries where generations meet, exchange tales and share the same food. This small eatery serves traditional fast food – cutlets, kabiraji and moghlai paratha. The dingy looking place is easily lost amidst the hawkers that set shop on the pavements but for the busy evening hours when there’s a small crowd gathered here. <br/><br/>The cabin has severe space constraints and has fit in as many tables as is possible. It can get stuffy and smoky inside for the lack of proper ventilation. A little effort to spruce up the place will not go unappreciated even by the loyalists.<br/><br/>As for the food, to our disappointment, only Mughlai paratha was available on our visit. One of the iconic eatery in South Kolkata s Gariahat. I have been here since I was a child and nothing changed over the years. I highly recommend their Kosha Mangsho-Paratha and Moghlai Paratha. Fish fry is good but you get better ones around. The manager uncle is superb and still recognizes me when I go back twice in year or less. Only thing is their space is less. So at times you got to wait for the great food

It's a small and old outlet in Gariahat, towards Golpark on the left it is just after the Gariahat Market. When it comes to taste it's just heavenly. Their speciality is Moglai Paratha, it's the traditional Moglai Paratha with only egg, chopped onion and green chillies as stuffing, it's served with Jacketed (with skin) potato curry. When many shops are using Sattu and Various kind of non veg as stuffing they are using only beaten egg chopped onion and green chillies which really take one to the bygone era where the Moglai serving shops used this as stuffing. I must say it's the best Moglai Paratha till date.

I went to the renowned Das Cabin with a few of my friends because I had a sudden craving of having Fish Kabiraji. On arriving, we found out that none of the fish items were available. We were disappointed but since it was during Pujo, it was kind of understandable, so we ordered for Chicken Kabiraji and Mughlai Paratha instead. But what was not acceptable was that they were cutting onions without any sort of functional exhaust or chimney facility and two of my friends had to walk out of the place because their eyes were unbearably burning. Also, after receiving the food we felt that this place was overrated. Maybe this food joint was legendary once but the food quality has deteriorated a lot since then. The food quality and quantity were just okay, nothing that is amazing or touches your soul.

This old Kolkata style food joint is located beside the road stretch from Gariahat to Golpark. Since I belong from the northern part of the city, I am pretty familiar with the old Kolkata snacks like Moglai Paratha or Cutlets that this place offers. But I had never been to this place until recently, primarily because of my fondness to the north kolkata legends when it comes to dishes like this.<br/><br/>The place is neat and clean although far from glamorous or flashy. These are the types of places where food is the only thing people care about. We had fish kabiraji, fish fry and moglai Paratha. The kabiraji is not the authentic one, but I liked it because of how light it was. Moglai was soft and good. But the fish fry was pretty ordinary. We ordered Malai Kulfi for desert, which was nice but we felt some ice within it. The service was prompt and warm.<br/><br/>Overall, the place is worth at least one visit definitely. The taste was good but did not leave me lusting after their stuff the way the north kolkata prodigies do. I would probably not care for a second visit.<br/><br/>

Authentic Kabiraji and Moglai...<br/>One of my favorite places to have Moglai in Kolkata. It's just scrumptious...<br/>But let me warn you, if you are very picky about ambience and high cleanliness, this isn't a place for you.<br/>It's a small cabin, crunched with seating areas. You might have to share a table with some other person, during on peak hours...

A small joint that serves mind blowing snacks! I have eaten cutlets, fish finger and moghlai paratha from here. This is the only place that I stop for a good snack when I go to Gariahat area. This place is quite friendly and close to my heart. Visit this place seldom since my childhood days. Their Moghlai paratha is very famous, so also fish kabiraji. Over time the quality of Moghlai deteriorated a bit but emotions remained the same. Fish fry and chicken cutlets are good too. Small place with congested seating arrangement but food is d main showstopper here.

People who judge the outlet for it's ambience, let me tell you this was how eateries of Calcutta (before it became Kolkata) used to be. If you love check-ins more than food then surely this is not a place for you. You might not feel that the place is perfect for your selfie. Walls are not properly decorated and no attention is provided to lighting as well.<br/><br/>Then why should you visit this small outlet??<br/><br/>This place is for people who love FOOD more than anything else, and when it comes to good and affordable food the outlet is second to none. Be it hygiene or taste it's a sure 5/5. More than that the place is easily locatable and has a very friendly and welcoming staff. Every item here is nice though the Fish Kabiraji is something you should not miss.

Yesterday after Pujo shopping, I and my parents went there as we were very much hungry. We ordered Chicken Kabiraji, Fish Fry and Moghlai Paratha. The foods served were not so much good in quality.Moghlai Paratha was hard to eat, seems to be it was cooked 2-3 hours ago and they are serving now, Fish Fry was not so much good and the Chicken Kabiraji was small in size and was also not good.<br/>Chicken Kabiraji(3/5)<br/>Fish Fry(3/5)<br/>Moghlai Paratha(2.5/5)

Fish kabiraji it is!! ❤️ Delicious and finger licking good!😋<br/>A place to have a quick snack while shopping amongst the busy & overcrowded place of Gariahat....<br/>#Das_cabin<br/>

Good food...but Dirty ambiance...you can see the nasty kitchen from your seat...no hygiene is maintained...too little space to sit...visited so many times before, but now a days the taste has been changed also...

This is a very old eatery of Kolkata. Known for its quality food and cheap rates. You shouldn't expect very good ambience here. Well doesn't matter. The people over here are really nice. I love this place. Recommended :)

'Das Cabin' is very old cafeteria established maybe before independence!!<br/>Pocket friendly!! Perfect for evening snacks!!<br/><br/>Location : 5 minutes walk distance from 'Gariahat Crossing'. Easy to locate.<br/><br/>Ambiance: This is non-a/c cafeteria, there is nothing to say about their ambience separately.<br/>They maintain their own style as hard as possible.<br/><br/>FOOD & SERVICES : I visit this place many times & I tried here only 'Moglai paratha', taste is just okayish. (3/5)<br/>'Fish kabiraji' is another spacial dish here.<br/>Staffs are decent.<br/>Service is good.<br/>You may visit Once !!!<br/>

Steeped in classic nostalgia, this tiny joint is a must visit for their fish fry, kabiraji and the mouth watering koolfi. Guided by a sudden impulse, we (Debabrata Ghora and myself) visited this place to delight our taste buds and we are not at all disappointed. The dishes are quite cheap. The staff is courteous. The service is quite prompt.<br/><br/>To cut a long story short, this place is a must visit.

Very old fashioned shop that is still okay had the food been good i went to das cabin along with my wife on 11th of august 2018 during the evening time we ordered for 2 mughlai paratas it costed 130 rs 65 rs each that was not the concerned when they served it was so thin and not worth so i will suggest everyone not to visit das cabin if you dont want spent your hard earned money on the water so pathetic i have ever come across.

Well it has made its place in Kolkata's traditional places and visiting this place is imperative, just for the sake of the age old experience. Calcutta is still alive within its walls; it's evident in the oily fry smell that hangs around.<br/><br/>This one from the famous Das Cabin, Gariahat comes for 75 bucks.<br/><br/>The Kabiraji is basically a 'coverage' i.e, a coverage by egg which used to be the way the British people liked their fish or chicken presented, during their stay here and that's how the name originated. 🤗<br/><br/>The Malai Kulfi from Das Cabin, is another major recommendation. This is better than all the kulfi's that I have had in the recent past. This comes for 50 bucks.<br/><br/>However, the Fish Fry is very very small for its price.<br/><br/>IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER:<br/>If you're going to Das Cabin, keep in mind that most of the times, they only have three snacks that you can order from: Fish Fry, Fish Kabiraji and Moghlai. ✔️PAW UP for this Kulfi! 🐈🖤 Have a pawsome evening snack!<br/><br/>#pawup#sweettooth #desserttime #icecream #foodhunt #streetfood #streetfoodphotography #kolkatafoodbloggers #indianblogger #kolkatafoodlovers #instafoodie #feedfeed #sokolkata #kulfi #summervibes #monsoons #foodcoma #kolkatadiaries #faluda #kolkatagram #foodaddict #foodlover #buzzfeed #foodzpah #foodiegram #foodtalkindia #foodoftheday #tasteofkolkata #worldofkolkata #streetsofkolkata #instafoodie

Its an old place in the heart of gariahut. My father has been taking me to this place for a long time for their muglai and it's amazing. I've tried their fish kabiraji too and they're good too. And their kulfi too is nice after the spicy and oily food.<br/><br/>The only down point is the seating arrangements its a bit limited. Too much crowd can lead to waiting and seating with other people in a same table. Otherwise its a nice place for a light meal.

Ok, so its non-ac and old fashioned....but trust me, eating here was one of the best experiences i had ever had. We had tried the fish gravy cutlet and fish kabiraji, and both of then are super awesome. It is rightly said, old is gold. Looking forward to visot this place soon.

3.6/5 to be precise.<br/>Located near Gariahat Crossing (opposite Trader's Assembly) lies this 84 year old piece ........ I must say antique.<br/>Yes, it's non-a/c. Yes, it's old fashioned. But yes, it's a beauty in itself. That's what I have for the ambience.<br/><br/>As for the food, it's superb. If I were to simply rate the food, it's 5/5. Trust me, it's the food that preserves the tradition.<br/><br/>My personal recommendation- chicken or fish gravy cutlet

This place is located on the streets and can be very easily spotted. It's a very old eating place. It's very small and has a seating capacity of around 15-20 people. It's a normal street shop. We had chicken mughlai paratha and kulfi. The mughlai paratha was good, but the kulfi was not upto the mark, considering the price point of view.

As we reached this place, we found a queue already at the entry waiting for tables to be available. I hope it gives a pretty good idea of the popularity of the place. However, it has a seating capacity of hardly twenty-five making it a bit crowded at all times.<br/><br/>The interiors are a bit dull with nothing fancy as such. The furniture is worn out and the place is not very well lit.<br/><br/>Anyways I had heard well of the Fish Kabiraji and Moglai paratha served here. So we gave it a try. The service was very prompt and we had food on our table almost as soon as we were seated. The Kabiraji was very filling with a delicious piece of fish at the centre. The Moglai was much better than that anywhere else. It was soft and perfectly made.<br/><br/>The prices are not very moderate, considering the look and feel of the place, but it is a good place if you are just looking for a quick bite.

Location:- gariahat crossing, towards golpark, perpendicular to Reliance Trends<br/>Ambience:- small, old world charm, wooden small tables and chairs (capacity of about 20-25 people)<br/><br/>They say if you want to review a place visit atleast twice.Well, that's what I did and came back with a mixed bag feelings.I am still apprehensive about writing a full blown review.<br/>I tried their signature dishes -Moghlai parotha, chicken kabiraji and fish fry.<br/>First day- they had just opened, were still serving breakfast menu and preparing and stacking their fries(which was yet to swim in the oil) in the fridge.I popped in and to their surprise ordered kabiraji(I could see the puzzled faces questioning my sanity!) .However ,the kabiraji was freshly made ,crispy outside soft inside, perfect seasoning ,served hot with salad n tomato ketchup.<br/>Second day-busy evening ,a small que of 5-6 people standing outside evidently showing the popularity of the place. The waiting time was only 5mins but the stench of raw eggs was hitting our nose.We ordered Moghlai porotha and Fish fry.The food was served promptly (which made us realise that it was pre-made ) and hence was not even on the warmer side.It was soggy because of the aloo curry underneath and the sauce. Not appetising at all .The fish fry had a weird smell (I am not sure whether it was because of the fish r the oil).<br/>Therefore my fascination for this place just went down the drain.<br/>However I am yet to pronounce a verdict without giving it one last try.( I am a hopeless optimistic you see, when it comes to food!)<br/><br/>P.S- If you are looking for an ambience then this is 'not' your place, however if you are a true blue foodie then go explore !

Located near the Gariahat crossing, opposite to Reliance Trends, is this small cabin which has a been there for many years now. The place is very cramped, there aren't enough seats and it has nothing fancy to show-off. But what it does offer are some mouth-watering snacks like Moglai, Cutlet and Kabiraji, a Bengali's delight. I tried their Kabiraji, which was not that great, but their Moglai was really good. No wonder, I saw everyone else having Moglai as well. But the place will get crowded and if you are late, you will have to stand in a queue outside. So, from the queue, you can tell that this place is very popular.

Had chicken kabiraji last week. It was okayish.<br/><br/>I remember visiting this place with my parents after shopping in gariahat when I was a kid and was hugely popular for serving amazing gravy noodles and mughlai parathas, back in 90s but due to some reason they don't serve those items anymore.<br/><br/>Just a couple of items are mostly available on the menu. Also, the hygiene factor is a big issue here.<br/><br/>It's saddening to see how this hidden gem of gariahat is losing it's charm slowly.

Located near the KMC building at gariahat just opposite to the new KFC outlet, this quaint little food joint is just the thing you need while your arms and legs ache after tiring shopping sessions at gariahat.<br/>Today we dropped in and the ambience had a quite old worldly feeling to it.All the seats were almost full, however we got two seats and ordered<br/><br/>Fish Fry-Delicious!thick fillet of fish and flavoured batter.Crispy and not at all oily.<br/><br/>Fish Kabiraji-This one I parcelled for home and it was even better than the fish fry.The fish they use is simply too fresh and flaky. The outer crispy batter tasted good.<br/><br/>Mutton Kosha-Oh my God!!This was so heartwarming!!!The gravy was just what a Bengali heart craves for.Soft meat in delicious gravy.<br/><br/>Paratha-This was ordered to pair with the gravy. But it was way too much greasy. We wanted butter toast which would have perfectly complemented the gravy but it ain't available in the evening.<br/><br/>Mughlai Paratha-This is something you must order here.Served with a side of aloo sabzi, ketchup, onion salad and a green chilli paste. This is simply awesome. But they should stop being so generous with pouring oil over their items.Anyway,no compromise on the taste though.<br/><br/>Kulfi-This was the perfect ending to our meal.Their kulfis are just out of the world at just 50rs!!!Filled with pistachios and packed with flavours!!!A must have after the heavy meal.<br/><br/>In the end they with serve you finger bowls too.Service is really fast and the staff are very well behaved.<br/>HappyEating!

Ordered mutton kosha, paratha fish fry chicken cutlet and moghlai. Took it home as parcel only to find the cutlet missing. Missing ! Awful service. Outdated staff. Long queue. And food quality was abysmal. Will never return to this place.
Maharshi Mandal
An old school typical calcuttan eatery.Neither fancy ambience, nor varities of menu. Just a bunch of super-good foods. Had their famous Fish Kabiraji, Mughlai Paratha, Kosha Mangsho along with normal paratha & of course the Kulfi. All the items here are very much pocket friendly & delicious too. Special mention to their Mughlai paratha & Kulfi.

Located at Gariahut Crossing Das Cabin is a very small but popular joint serving Fries, Rolls, Mughlai etc.<br/><br/>● Timings: 7:00 to 12:00, 16:00 to 21:30.<br/><br/>● Food: 3/5 I had Paratha and Chicken Kasha on my first visit and Chicken Cutlet the next time. Paratha was very oily, Chicken Cutlet was average.<br/><br/>The place is always pretty much full, I think that the location is a big reason, the food seemed average to me.<br/><br/>

This 84 years old eatery stands proud in the heart of gariahat. It serves chicken cutlet, kabiraji, mughlai paratha and many such mouth watering snacks. Easy on pockets n filled with nostalgia, this place has been the favourites of many for years. Have visited only once but will surely revisit again.

So on an errand a couple of days back, ended up at this place. In fact I have taken it upon myself to visit most of the old world cafes and cabins before they are obliterated into oblivion.<br/><br/>This is a quaint old place in the hustle bustle of the traffic. The first thing that strikes you is the smallness of the place. However, the waiters are extremely active and even amidst the crowd they did make way for you.<br/><br/>The place is known for its kabiraji but since I wasn't that much hungry, so simply went in for the mutton cutlet and fish fry. The mutton cutlet was great smelling and tasty. My complaint is the cutlet had extremely small filling of the mutton, the rest made up of generous amount bread crumbs and thick batter. Ditto is the case with fish fry.<br/><br/>I fail to understand why can't the management raise the price a little bit and not to stoop to cost-cutting techniques which will spell their doom eventually.<br/><br/>The other thing was mutton kasha which was quite insipid when you can cook up better stuff at home.<br/>You can safely give this place a miss! I have a feeling this place has a lot of potential provided they maintain the quality.

A very old place at gariahat more. An appropriate place for having evening Tiffins and morning breakfast. I have gone there to have my breakfast with Nancy Navya .Ordered omlet, butter toast, chicken kobiraj cutlet..The food is quite light and not at all oily. Also tried Moghlai paratha and chicken afghani cutlet

Moglai costs Rs 65/Pc & Fish Kabiraji costs Rs75/- Menu Price Published in Zomato for both Items are incorrect. Mughlai was good. Wait period 15 Mints restaurant is too clumsy not enough space so I prefer take away.

A must visit for the old school feel and delicious Fish Kobiraajis, Mutton Cutlets and Moglai Parathas in South Kolkata. This place still holds it's place firm, even amongst all the competition from numerous great food joints popping up every now and then in and around Gariahat area and stays packed almost all the time.

Das Cabin may be a tiny corner shop with hardly any seating but their Kabiraji (coverage) cutlets and Mughlai parathas are simply SUPERB!! Perfect for teatime takeaways!! 😊

One of the very few cabin eateries remaining in the city. Das Cabin is and has been famous for their legendary Moghlai Parathas and Kabirajis. Have been eating here since I was a child and here I am reviewing it on a platform like Zomato. How times change, but not their Kabirajis!
The Foodicted Bong
One of the oldest eateries of south Kolkata. It's very easy to locate. It's near Gariahat flyover, just opposite to Reliance trends. The place is always crowded. People have to maintain a queue to get a seat for themselves. This is more or less like a one room cabin. This outlet is famous for moghlai paratha and kabirajis. We ordered moghlai paratha, fish fry, chicken kabiraji and kulfi. All of the food items are delicious. Very much pocket friendly. It's a perfect place for students.
Kushal Mon Bosonto Sinha
One of the few existing cabin eateries in south Kolkata, this tiny place is renowned for delicious kabiraji, moghlai paratha and some signature mutton items too. <br/>Do not expect top class service, but the food is too tummy filling. It is a legendary culinary destination and has existed despite stiff competition from exotic cafes and restaurants in the neighbourhood.

This rating is solely for the food quality. I have never had chicken kabiraji this good till date. I don't care about the ambiance for this particular place. It's a part of old calcutta. If you love to have chop cutlet and moghlai porota you should visit here atleast once.
Ricky Ramalingam
Too much oily (Chicken Kabiraji) and over priced according to the restaurant as well. And if it could be a little bit cleaner ofcourse. Though the presentation was appreciable.
