Review 6 Ballygunge Place & The Wall Restaurant - Kolkata (Calcutta)

RAMA CHANDRA MUDULI
The place of the restaurant is good. I am sharing my first time experience. The food quality and quantity was good. All the staff and members of the restaurant are cooperative, calm, well behaved, and good. The hotel was also very neat and clean. For a single person, the food and price may be high because the quantity of one plate is good for sharing with another. But parcel facilities are also available. One can bring the remaining by parcel. I will recommend the restaurant if you are staying near the airport area like dumdum etc.

Ambience 10/10 Hospitality 10/10 Quality of food 10/10 Quantity 9/10 Variety 10/10 Price range 9/10 The price they charge is absolutely as par the quality of food they serve. Their buffet section is extremely good. Both vegetarian and non vegetarian. It's better to go for the buffet if you are going in the afternoon. A perfect place to have authentic bengali food. Would always suggest anyone to go to this place without any second thought.

Oh absolutely gorgeous the place is... Was there for lunch with my friend... The ambience, the food is absolutely amazing and delicious... They gave us a welcome drink and which has no limit to order, you can pour it unlimited times.. the luchi was soooo good and tasty... Other dishes are good as well, they have different menu for each day.. we chose the buffet.. will go again...

Went there with my family. The ambience and the staff behaviour is really polite. We had the gondhoraj lassi, murshidabadi chicken, fish fry, bashonti pulao, luchi, mutton kosha, chingri malai curry and chingri bhapa. All of the items were delectable, well cooked and really well prepared. The quantity is good enough. However it is important to note that it is quite fillinc because of the richness. Nothing to complain though. One negative point is the limited parking, and if there is no parking inside you need to park a little away.

It's a bengali cuisine restaurant serving authentic bengali cuisine food. Located in the first floor of the ecosuite building in Newtown Rajarhat close to CC 2. Parking is inadequate inside the building parking. Parking is available on the side road or in a open ground little far from the building in the backside. Ambience is good. Centrally airconditioned with ample daylight during lunchtime. Food quality is good. Since it was an anniversary gathering so we had buffet for about 30 guests. Lot of varieties were there including starters and gandhoraj ghoal. There is a well stocked bar also. Overall experience is good.

i have tried both their a la carte and buffet menus... and I find it amazing, every dish looks gorgeous, and tastes delicious. from a la carte their mutton item has a similarity with golbarir kosha mangsho and from a la carte i have tried chingri malaikari, parshe fish n begun bahar. chingri malaikari was top notch with big sizes of chingri. the staffs were helpfull in suggesting the menus. and the ambiance is nostalgic.

If you want to enjoy an authentic Bengali meal, then this is the place for you. The menu offers a vast variety of Bengali cuisine. I visited for the first time and was impressed with the selection and the taste. We visited during lunch hours, and they have the option of a buffet, or you can select al-carte as per your needs. Posto Narkel Bora and Chanar Dalna were delicious, and Gondhoraj Ghol is a must-try drink. It's a mix of Gondhoraj and curd like lassi with a twist. The ambience is nice, and the service is also good.

The quality of the cuisine at this establishment is commendable, and the ambiance of the environment is truly captivating. Additionally, the professionalism exhibited by the staff members is noteworthy. I wholeheartedly recommend that individuals consider experiencing this culinary establishment, with a particular emphasis on the exceptional Gandharaj Ghol, which stands out as a superlative choice among the offerings.

Overall, 6 Ballygunge place offers a fantastic journey into the heart of Bengali cuisine. If you're a fan of rich, flavorful curries and Bengali comfort food, this restaurant is a must-visit. I left with a satisfied palate and a promise to return for more culinary adventures in the future.

A well known restaurant for bengali food with sumptuous menu, delicious taste and relaxed ambience.
Ambience: hygiene, relaxed, minimalistic, well lit. No extravagant loud music or dazzling lights. Sets up a soothing atmosphere. A hand sanitizer is provided at every table and this was even before the covid situation.
Staff: cooperative, hospitable, courteous with quick service.
Food: we tried the Sunday dinner buffet.
A welcome drink was given at first, the gondhoraj ghol which is a yoghurt based drink with a flavor of gondhoraj lime. It was extremely refreshing and increases your appetite multifold.
For appetizers, there were aloor chop (potato cutlet) and fish finger with mustard sauce. Both were extremely delicious with the fish finger surpassing the other.
We ordered the gondhoraj murgi on a la carte basis. Chicken strips marinated with lime zest grilled. It is extremely tender and aromatic and a must when dining here.
For mains, there were many vegetarian and non vegetarian options. We tried the peas kachodi with cholar dal which was extremely tasty. A must try.
For mains, we tried the Bati chocchori (dry mixed vegetables), cauliflower roast, begun basanti (eggplant strips in a spicy mustard gravy) with rice. In non veg, we had the pabda jhal, prawn malai curry, kacha lonka dhonepata murgi and mutton curry with pulao. Every bit of it was delicious, tender and scrumptious. Couldn't find a fault in any of them. Well seasoned and extremely well made. For desserts, we had the chutney, papad, chanar jilepi, sandesh and vanilla ice cream which was a great ending to a fabulous dinner.
All of the items were extremely well made and we loved every bit of it. This is an amazing place to try bengali food and the buffet was amazing and had good options for the price.
Highly recommended place and would love to visit again.

So right after the Lockdown Phase paved way for Unlockdown Phase, I and my friend went out for dining at a restaurant after more than 5 months. Initially we had plans to visit a buffet, but due to some unavoidable circumstances, we changed plans and rather went to have some authentic Bengali food from the à la carte menu of 6 Ballygunge Place, Eco Suite New Town branch.

The foods that we ordered were :
1) Steam Rice
2) Moong Mohan Daal
3) Posto Narkel Bora
4) Katapona Kalia
5) Karaishutir Kachori
6) Dhakai Kalo Pora Mangsho
7) Mishti Doi

And I must Admit!!
THIS PLACE SERVES THE BEST BENGALI CUISINE IN ENTIRE NEW TOWN!! Each and every dish were simply mouthwatering!! Its a must try for authentic Bengali food lovers.

This was my experience on 6 Ballygunge Place , Newtown on last Independence Day that is 15 August 2019. I had there the Lunch Buffet since why not ,one day off to have lunch and spend quality time with your loved ones. The buffet was around 1200 rupees including GST for that day only, since there was special lunch buffet over there.
||Menu||

◇Tiranga Upahar (Welcome Drink)
◇ Radhabalavi
◇Beguni
◇Crunchy Fried Chicken / Mochar Chop
◇Hinger Aloo Dum
◇Steamed Basmati Rice
◇ Motia Pulao
◇Panchratan Dal
◇ Chanar Posto Potol
◇Murgir Kebab Nosi
◇Navratan Paturi ( Veg)
◇Kaachkolar Kofta Curry
◇Begun Basanti
◇ Bhendi Aam Kasundi
◇Bhetki Paturi
◇ Chingrir Malai Curry
◇Sajnekali Mangso
◇Pineapple Chutney
◇ Assorted Papad ( Aloo, Roasted, Sabu)
◇Mishti Doi
◇ Payesh
◇Kesari Jalebi

Here I did not try everything like mostly the vegetarian dishes so I really can't review those but other than that I'll share my likes dislikes.

||Likes||

Firstly when we arrived, there were few people ,thus staff was very attentive and they served the Welcome Drink on our table. I really loved the drink, it was very refreshing. Next up they served Radhabalavi , Beguni and Crispy Chicken on our table. OMG I did not have such good Radhabalavi for the longest of time. I had it with the Hing Aloo Dum.The combination tasted really well. Then Beguni was also hot n really tasted very home like. Crispy Chicken was also great with crispness outside and soft inside. Then for the main course I tried the Steamed Rice n Bhetki Paturi together. I really loved the Paturi, I was almost licking my fingers . I think I had 3 of it. Next I had chingrir malai curry. It was really spicy it's just that being ghoti I love my malai curry bit sweeter. Anyways the best part was I could eat as many chingri I want and it was no doubt very tasty. I also tried there Begun Basanti which is a good veg dish to try. I also loved there Motia pulao which was crumbly and not sticky at all, the way I love my pulao. I also liked the payesh from the dessert section. I also have to speak about the ambience. The place was so beautifully decorated or designed. It has the decor of old bengali house with alternate black and white tiles on the floor, the wooden windows , colourful glass work and those old ceiling design(railway lines like ).Even the furniture was old Bengali style. I became really nostalgic with the decor reminding me of my grandparents home. I mean the detailing in the decor was FABULOUS. I also like to mention the cutlery that is their plates are also cool with their 6 BP printed over it.

||Dislikes||

I had my murgir kebab nosi n mutton with the Motia pulao. I have to say both the chicken n mutton were average . These are the dishes people mostly long for whereas they did not reach my expectations. The Kesari Jalebi was not bad but not worst. One can manage. But the showstopper for any Bengali is the Mishti Doi. It was a total disaster. I don't what was wrong but it did not taste good. Now as I said earlier when we arrived staff was really attentive, this was not the case as the place started crowding up. When I asked for second batch of Radhabalavi it took so long one can't imagine and have to poke 2-3 times to get it. And the second batch of crispy chicken was so soggy n was not seasoned well. The buffet was going empty n refilling them took way too long. I could even see dissatisfied n angry customers waiting outside the restaurant even though they booked their tables. There was complete mess.

Overall it was an average experience, with some really tasty n some not so upto the mark dishes. I think the buffet of the 6 Ballygunge Place is over hyped. But one can give a try on a normal day, coz it was maybe due to the crowd that day.

One of my all time favourite places for classic Bengali cuisine. Fantastic menu and great quality as always. Especially recommend the kosha mangsho, paturi and malai curry. Have been a regular customer and the food never disappoints.

Excellent food just mind blowing

I have been to the main branch of their several times. We ordered stuff worth Rs 2500 and what a waste it was. Gondhoraj chicken was just a few strips of chicken. I have never had this stand alone chicken strips as gondhoraj chicken. The quality of all dishes we ordered was a few notches lower than what I had tasted in their main branch. NEVER will I order anything from them again.
Arunava Bhattacharya
Firstly the prices are over exaggerated and the quality of food is not upto the mark to that of other branches. The Murgir jhol was most bogus, tasteless and I guess home mades are better than that, Pora Mutton was just super awesome and a new item indeed, Pulao was good but has scope for improvement.
Overall it was not upto the mark dining experience considering the quality of food served and the prices charged.
Abhishek Goswami
Why the price of every dish is so high? Are the dishes made of EVIAN water? Middle class people won't be able to afford anything from this place.
Sayan Moitra
This place is simply overpriced for what its worth. Though i am sure that comes with the brand name. But got to tell taste is really good and each and every dish tastes different not like other places in which every item has same gravy for days. One thing i would really appreciate if they could work on their packaging. For the price they charge, packing in white cheap containers is a turn off. Overall a chic place to have some freshly prepared delicious bengali food to show off. Cheers!

Placed order at 1 pm. Repeated follow up, and still awaiting for the food to get delivered. I stay 10 min from the restaurant. And they have been constantly lying. Great reward for being your loyal customer. Will remember.

🍭Not so good quality food they provide compared to buffet prize.
🍭Taste is not high according to their popularity. Service is quite good. In buffet there is less variety. Not so money worthy.
#traditional food #bong #ilishvapa
A very good restaurant with great ambience as well as food ! I opted for the Buffet lunch and therefore my rating and review is strictly based on that. Priced at 650 Rupees, the buffet lunch had the following offerings -

1. Laal Saag Bhaja
2. Sorse Posto Alu Chokha
3. Beguni
4. Luchi
5. Basmati Rice ( Saada Bhaat)
6. Moong Dal
7. Aloo Dum
8. Chhanar Dalna
9. Sorse Pabda Fish Curry
10. Chicken Curry
11. Mutton Kasha
12. Mango (Aamer) Chatni
13. Papad
14. Misti Doi
15. Gulab Jamun

Each and every item overall tasted really good. There is also the option of Ala-Carte menu with a vast range of items although they seemed to be at a higher price point.

Liquor is also available at this place.

P.S. - Specially recommend this place for people who have not yet tried Bengali Cuisine.

One of the good authentic Bengali food available here, along with good ambience.

We planned the pre marriage ritual(Aiburobhat) for one of our colleague and the arrangements were really good. The place is nicely decorated and the behaviour of the staff are also very good.

I had ordered morog pulao. Very horrible experience, condiments were missing, insufficient for even 1 person, it was cold. This is a highly overrated restaurant. The experience of dining in there could be different but they should have given importance to home delivery, on top of that when my dissatisfaction was expressed to zomato to compensate on my money and 2 hours of time wastage, nothing at all apart from testing my patience was done. Highly disappointed. never order from here.
Arnab Kanrar
It was an online order, Test was so bad that we couldn't have it and had to order something else from different restaurant.

2 of us had gone to 6 Ballygunge place in New town yesterday. We ordered luchi, cholar Dal and alu dum.The alu dum was aweful..no taste and excessive oil. After eating we faced indigestion issues. I vomitted twice and have been suffering with bad headache and stomach ache untill this morning. Not going to the place anymore for sure

Last Sunday ended pretty well with my parents & I enjoying the delicious Bong cuisine at this outlet. Although I had been to the original outlet at Ballygunge, this one seemed better.

Our dinner started with:

Paneer Matar chop🥙
Mourola macher peyaji🐟
& 3 sweet blended mocktails.🍹🍸

& then we moved on to:

Basanti pulao,
Plain Rice ( goes best with "Sorshe" dishes)
Fulkopir Roast
Potol er kheer bhora Dolma
Ilish Paturi(Boneless)
Tel Koi
Daab Chingri -- mandatory!

All the dishes were quite mouthwatering with daab Chingri & ilish Paturi being outstanding😊😋.
I'd rather ask them to improve the Basanti Pulao☹️; it could have been better.

Thanks for the informative and really courteous staff.

Highly recommended!!

You should definitely give a try if you are a true Bong epicurean 😄

For a saturday lunch we went to 6 ballygunge place for good food. What we got after a long wait was plain nominal dishes which can be made in everyone' house at any time.
They served starters as in 4 luchis along with beguni and fish chop. Tell me who eats luchi with beguni and fish chop? We went to main course count to get the alur dom, no one came to ask if we needed more luchi or chop. I went thrice to get the main course because every time something or the other was missing in the buffet spread. And that also happened when I went to get dessert like misti doi and chanar jilipi the spoon was missing. Such a horrible horrible experience.
I had a very sumptuous lunch in their ballygunge outlet and if if I compare that to my today's experience I would request the owner to give it a thought before spreading the branches

We came very early there in the evening. We tried few of their options and loved it very much. Very good for family parties and fulfill all your requirement. Liquor is also available. It's good to see bengali cuisine around new town. We will come again with our family for sure.

In frame: Starters (Chicken Chop and Aloo Pakoda)

We went there for the lunch buffet, to start with, what struck me the most was the beautiful scenic ambience, not only did it lighten up the whole place, it added this notion of comfort right when we entered. The decor was amazing.

Coming to the food, the buffet included welcome drinks (a Christmas special), two starters, an array of dishes that justified Bengali cuisine perfectly but didn't make it completely mainstream. The desserts were a cherry on top, the chhana'r jalebi, melts in your mouth.

The staff was sweet and extremely friendly. We had two elderly people along with us, whom they specially catered to willingly. They took care of our needs at all times and made sure we had a memorable lunch.

Among all the Bengali restaurants I've been to, this one completely stands out.

It's a place for all ages. If you go there, make sure to have the buffet. If not, the vegetable pulao, moong dal, mutton curry would be an amazing choice. Do try the starters, I loved the chicken chop as well as the aloo pakoda.

Well We go to some good restaurants not just for the food but also for the ambience and experience. So last night's experience here at #6ballygaungeplace opposite to some corporate bunch of morons screaming and laughing their lungs out and disturbing others with their nonsense act. The restaurant had apparently blind and deaf ears to all these which should come from them without other customers to ask them request these people to behave.
A place like this should get some strong and effective staff in customer handling matters ,not just purposely deaf and dumb managers.
In food we ordered ,
Fish fry for starters which was too good for the taste.
Chingri malaikari and steamed rice ,both tasted specially the rice had a heavenly smell.
Mutton and loochi at the end where the loochi was superb ,mutton was soft and succulent.
In desserts we had Misti doi & Baked mihidana ,both were great in taste.
We had no complaints about the food or the service both were very good .
But the only thing I would like to say please let the other guests eat in peace ,they should not feel irritated by the ambience they are in because of the others.

Bengali Cuisine is one of that cuisine which you cannot get that quality everywhere. 6 Ballygunge place is that famous one which is serving great bengali dishes from a long time. There oldest outlet is in ballygunge & now they have 3 outlets in total. Even they have a outlet which has only thali option which is named as 6 Ballygunge Place Thali & it's in kasba.

In this outlet they have Ala-Carte & Buffet option. Buffet price is Rs650/Person for adult & Rs550/Person for kids. The dishes change in buffet at alternative days. Even this outlet serve liqour option.

Ambience is very sophisticated which gives a feeling of old bengali rajbari. Table & charis are also designed like the King's dinning table. It has a large seating capacity.

I opted 2 items from ala carte & then go with buffet.

Ala- Carte ::
1. Fish Fry (Rs425/-) : It is highly recommended. It gives 2pcs diamond shaped fish fry & the fish really melts in your mouth. It's awesome worth every penny.

2. Fish Kabiraji (Rs450/-) : The bhetki fish coated with egg & then deep fried. In this the taste of fish doesn't come that much like fish fry. Even 2 large pcs served in full plate.

Buffet ::
1. Luchi
2. Bata masala Aloo Dum
3. Basmati Steam Rice
4. Aloo Choka
5. Saag Bhaja
6. Chaner Dalna
7. Moong Dal
8. Beguni
9. Bhapa Bhetki
10. Kochi Patha Jhol (Mutton Kasa)
11. Chicken Kasa
12. Misti Doi
13. Anaras Chutney
14. Papad
15. Sandesh

The dessets are not good at all. Worst misti doi served. Sandesh is even not good. Rest all the items are good but not great except few items. Price is really on higher side but buffer needs to improved more.

Had a dinner outing with the family. Wanted to have some authentic BENGALI food so went with the brand name that’s etched within the heart of this city. Tried the buffet. The quality of the food wasn’t something we are used to with 6 Ballygunge in its mother branch. A major let down in terms of taste and preparation of the buffet spread. Doesn’t at all live upto the name and brand value for which it is known and one of the main reasons why people probably try out this outlet.
Guess the chef needs better grooming and training to maintain the same standards attuned with the quality 6 Ballygunge is famous for. The decor alone doesn’t satisfy the expectations people have with this legendary outlet.

A family dinner outing on on the evening(21st Oct 2019) after Diwali. Food was awesome special mention for KACHA LANKA DHONEY PATA CHICKEN. Mocktail ANTHONY FIRINGI lived upto its name. Special mention needs to be made about the interiors of the place. It has a Bengali mood decor with contemporary touch. Overall a very nice place to uplift your mood and enjoy your food.

Orders Placed:

Anthony Firingi (Excellent)
Begun Bhaja (Very Good)
Chholar Dal (Not Bad)
Kacha Lanka Dhoney pata Chicken (Excellent)
Dab Chingri (Very Good)
Kata Pona Roast (Very Good)
Steam Rice

Staff were very courteous.Service was Good. Recommended with Family and Friends.

I went their with my family . Our order were -
• Posto Narkel Bora
• Murshidabadi Chicken
• Malai Chingri
• Basanti Polao
• Kasha Mangsho
• Nalengur er Icecream
This is the place where you will get the essence of Bengali foods.
Most recommended is murshidabadi Chicken ♥️😛.
Actually we ordered something different but due to unavailability of that dish as we went their at Night 10 'o clock and it closes at 10:30 so we have to ordered Murshidabadi Chicken although we love it . It's little bit expensive but the food quality is awesome .

I had a disastrous experience at the New Town branch of 6 Ballygunge Place, which is supposedly one of the premium chains of restaurants in Kolkata for Bengali cuisine. I went there for dinner with my family on 29 Oct. They had their Bhai Fota special buffet priced at 1050 INR inclusive of all taxes for Non Veg.

At the start, the manager informed us that they don't have A-La-Carte option that night and we have to go for Buffet option only; but if we want we can order some special items like Ilish separately on top of the Buffet. They didn't even provide us the A-La-Carte menu. If you have only buffet, and that too priced above 1000 INR, you should include all your special items in the Buffet and not have your customer pay extra.
Otherwise, you should have both A-La-Carte and buffet options and have the customer decide.

At 1000 INR, we expect more variety of items in the Buffet spread but unfortunately the spread was below average. The spread had all the average items and if you want their special and recommended items like Ilish, paturi, baked mihidana etc, you will have to order separately and pay extra. This is NOT acceptable. You cannot force your customer to opt for buffet and then have them pay extra for the other items. That kind of defeats the whole purpose of buffet.

In starters, the fish chop was 95% potato and 5% fish. It took us quite sometime to figure out it was fish. The welcome drink made of yogurt was too sour and personally I don't think it was a good choice on Winter night. This ends the starter section. DISAPPOINTING!!! (REMEMBER WE ARE PAYING 1050 INR).

The main course spread consisted of 1 chicken, 1 mutton, 1 fish and 1 prawn item ONLY in Non-Veg section. The taste of each item is strictly average. Only the mutton dish was good - pieces were soft and gravy was tasty. Bengali buffet should have at least a couple more varieties of fish but they only had Bhetki and that too not their Signature item - Bhetki Paturi but some gravy and if you want Paturi, you will need to pay extra. DISAPPOINTING!!!! (ARE WE PAYING 1050 INR FOR EATING THIS??)

In deserts, they had Payesh, Sondesh and Gulab Jamun only; not a single item from their recommended list like baked mihidana - not even ice cream. Taste was strictly average. AGAIN VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! (DID I MENTION WE ARE PAYING 1050 INR?)

Now coming to the service. Its again amateurish. You serve Fish Chop on the table but the Kasundi (Mustard Sauce) to go with it is kept on the Buffet table. Similarly you serve Luchi on the table but the accompaniments - Cholar Dal and Alur Dom - are on the Buffet table. What kind of illogical arrangement is this? Something as basic a Tomato Ketchup is not available and on asking for it, the waiters act like they haven't heard of it. On asking a second time, they come and drop a litttle kasundi on our plates and leave with the container. Don't you guys have enough Kasundi and Tomato Sauce to keep a small bottle on each table?

Overall, I would say they are just cashing on their brand value. Other restaurants serve way better quality food and service at the same cost, if not lower. If they are eyeing the premium spot, they need to work really hard on their quality of food and service and experience that they provide to their customers. The manager and waiters don't really make you feel welcome.

6 Ballygunge Place ruined our family dinner experience on the special occassion of Bhai Fota. I would definitely avoid this place in future and urge everyone to do so. If you are willing to shell out 1050 INR, please visit BBQ Nation or other restaurants as this place is definitely not worth the money.

HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED!! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!

Buffet menu is not upto the mark.
Starter item:
Luchi
Beguni only!!
Main course:
Sal vaja, badhakopi posto, alu dum, mung daal, fish item (Rui fish, ltaer they addded panda fish)
No chigri/ vetki ilish not even Basa.

Murgir jhol - avg. Taste nothing special
Mutton- not much tasty, too much oily and not even tender/soft
Desert:
Rosogolla was good
Misti DOI
Chutney.

No such good desert option . They dont even provide salad.
Menu item can be improved as per the buffet price!

Not good experience.
Arrived with great expectations as usual because have always used savourites for catering. However opted for the dinner buffet where the bhetki fry and aloo dum were excellent but the rest was not really up to the mark. Note to self the ala carte menu is the way to go, next time shall stick to going nuts with the menu instead of following the buffet path. Overall still a must visit.
Some of the food items were stale and not up to the mark. Dhokar Dalna was stale and the macher jhal (pathuri jhal) was undercooked. Really disappointed. Though the ambience and service was good .

It is such a fabulous value for money buffet at Rs. 800 that you can drop everything else and tuck into the delicacies. The Beguni is sift and crispy, the chicken chop is mildly spicy. The Chingri malaikari is sweet and thick, the Chicken Kasha is spicy and when had with luchi, it's heavenly. The Parshe Maachh is something that you cannot stop at one. Simply put, the seafood is brilliant. But you cannot miss their Ilish Maachh Bhapa. It's gorgeous and unmissable!

Ordered morog polao from zomato app. Raita and salad was missing from order but in the menu it has been mentioned. Chicken was not juicy at all seems like it was in fridger not fresh.

We went their on a weekend for lunch.we were 7 person in group.we ordered rice, macher matha diye mughdal, dab chingri, vetki patri, chital macher muitha, gondhoraj chicken, mutton kosha, chutney, bhapa doi, baked mihidana with rabdi..food was really delicious...but daab chingri was overpriced according to its quantity and quality.we also got 15% discount on total bill as we have id card of corporate sector. They give 10% on buffet and 15% on ala carte..All over it was very nice experience..staff was courtateous, nice ambient,if you want to try really authentic bengali food you can come here..will like to visit again with family.

It was Saptami when I went with my family. I liked the ambience and the taste of the food was really great. I tasted all the items as they were having Durga Puja special menu at that time. I really liked the Chingri Malaikari, Bhetki Paturi, Mutton, Fish Cutlet and Aamey Pora Sharbat. We enjoyed our lunch. Great food with Reasonable price. Highly recommended.

maha navami dinner was a perfect disaster from the great 6 ballygunge place Thali.750 for a non-veg thali is not a small amount but If i expect that much quality I don't think it would be a sin.aloo r dom was sour, chingri r malai curry was pathetic and the final baddest quality mutton with full of onions was the ultimate pain.I wish to see that YOUTUBE BOY who reviewed this restaurant. If food is your emotion and money is your hardwork then this people must be punished. No second chance for such service and such horrible experience.Hope to give you a chance to have all these food at my kitchen.Any Bengali Mom can cook 100 times better then this. ashamed of you.

The best to have Bengali food in affordable prices but not compensating the quality and quantity. Recently,I have been to this outlet in Newtown. It's near City Centre 2. They too have delicious buffet menu. But we tried the A la Carte. We had:
Deb Chaudharani- Virgin Mojito with oranges: 5/5.
Luchi: 4.5/5 .
Begun Bhaja: 5/5.
Cholar Daal :4/5 ( -1 , as I had expected it to bit sweet and more coconut bits).
Steamed Rice: 5/5.
Daab Chingri : 5/5.
Basanti Pulao :4.5/5.
Dhaka Pora Mangsho: 5/5.
Tiramuso: 4/5.
The combination we tried is a must try. Your stomach will get full but your heart will want more. Atleast, so was our case :P. We were just 2 of us and we can't resist ourselves to make this huge order.
Staff was courteous. Ambience was truly Bangali. I strongly recommend this restaurant to everyone who visits Kolkata.

Absolutely horrendous!

Went there expecting the same experience which you associate with the original namesake restaurant, but it was a complete disaster... starting from the starters to the main course. To call the food bland would be an understatement. If the main course and starters were bad ,the dessert section was a whole new low..just pathetic rosogollas , misti doi (not mishti at all) and an abomination in the name of sandesh. I do not know about how the A la carte here is, but the buffet is probably the worst I've ever had, Sunday afternoon ruined .

Premium Marketing, Poor Facilities & Subpar Food
They have two restaurants but barely three parking spots! Vaguely uncomfortable seats ! The food on the buffet seems old and cold !
Common washrooms being shared amongst the restaurants- Infrastructure needs to improve.
Never come here with anyone you are trying to create an impression on!

Visited this place few days ago . It's near cc2 new town. We tried their Lunch Buffet on weekdays and it's cost us Rs 650+ tax .
The ambiance was really good. I would say it's one of the best 6 Ballygunge place outlet in terms of decoration ..
Coming to the food . 6 Ballygunge never offers Starters in their Buffet Menu which is a down side but apart from that each and every item was delicious. The dessert section could have been better as only Mishti doi and Rossogolla was present .no ice cream no other sweets .
My suggestion is if they can include some Starters and atleast ice cream with another type of sweets in the buffet menu then it will be a complete Bengali meal .

The staffs were well behaved and always offered service with a smile face .

Taste is quite good. But compared to the quantity and price....its nothing unique.
Better to go for other restaurants offering same taste and quantity at almost half of this price.

Definitely belongs to the premium Restaurants which serves Bengali cuisine . The Ambience is just amazing and gives a feeling of Rajbaris of Kolkata.

The staffs are too much good and friendly. They are very well behaved and always at your service .

The food is beyond words .The Paturi , Dab Chingri , Luchi Cholar Dal are the Must try. Along with the Danya Chicken and Plain Chicken Curry served with Steamed rice is a perfect lunch. The prices are a bit high but can be considered sometimes. Definitely a must visit place...

Thank You...

Yesterday I celebrated my son's first birthday at lunch time here. We opted for buffet and it's truly a delight. Being a bengali you know the taste of every Bengali cuisine and thus it's all perfect.. I personally liked the kumroni luchi cholar dal and kheer malpoa.. apart from that ,chicken mutton and fish preparations were all superb..the ambience takes you back to Bengali Raj Bari with the decor and background. the staffs are very courteous and friendly..
Overall a good experience and great ambience and perfect to celebrate a special day.

The ambience is good. The service was little slow maybe due to overcrowding. We ordered crispy fried chicken for the starters and for the main course we ordered puchi, cholar dal, baadshahi pulao, chanar dalna, doi murgi and jhujhure aloo bhaja.. All was really good except the baadshahi pulao.. The problem with the pulao was it was very oily which was making it impossible to eat for the elderly people.. So i would recommend to make the baadshahi pulao less oily.. Also they have 15℅off for the people who work in it sectors like tcs, cognizant etc.. Which is really good..

This is my second visit to their restro which is actually looks like a heritage house. Not only the foods but also the interior design has bengali touch.
For starter I had ordered gondhoraj chicken which is their specialty. The chicken was a little bit chewy and the flavor of gondhoraj was very mild. I personally think the flavor of gondhoraj lebu should be more to enjoy the dish.
Next, for lunch we had availed their buffet menu which had-
1.luchi-luchi was soft and looked like white ball
2.beguni-as usual good
3.sakh vaja
4.badhakopi pata bata
5.basmoti rice
6.mugh dal-the yellow dal was served with some coconuts and ghee.
7.alur dum-luchi with alur dom is always compliment each other. The alu was properly cooked and the aroma was just awesome
8.chanar posto dalna-this dish had disappoints me.. The stuffing was soury and potol was tasteless.
9.paturi-when I heard that they were serving vetkir paturi my mouth was just......
The first slot of paturi was not actually good the fish was not at all soft and flavours were not giving some wow factor. But when they served their second slot of paturi... The banana leaf was light green, the stem was their after uncovering the fish the mustard flavor was perfect the fish was fresh full of flavor and I just loved it.
10.chichken kababnashi-this was basically chicken kosha
11.mangdher jol-mutton curry was good. The curry was cooked with flavor along with that mutton was perfectly cooked. They served magsher alur with I liked. The mutton was actually matched with basmoti rice.
12.chatni papad
13.misti doi-it was OK
14. Chanar jalabi-wow wow just wow. Hot jalabis were so soft and the sweetness was so balanced.. After the big menu I had ordered a gondhoraj ghol which is just awesome the freshness of dhai and the lebu was awesome and this gave a mouth freshness after the lunch.
Overall I liked their menu and they also have Ala carte services. I will recommend this place to all to have their lunch or dinner. The lunch time is from
12.30pm -3.30pm.
Their services were good but I will suggest them to involve more when their guests were there and also please help the old people by serving their foods and all.
The buffet menu price is-650++
And gondhoraj ghol price-85/-

They are charging hefty.Only couple of items are good but price is very very very high.

I think there should be a body which will monitor pricing for food items.

This branch is located at newtown akhankha more in eco suite building 1st floor.. a great experience i had.. food quality, ambience, staff behaviour all were at the best level.. we ordered buffet lunch at rs.800+ tax(rs.40) .. we had starter drink , egg devil, beguni, kochuri with alur dom, chanar bora(highly recommended), pabdar jhol , doi chicken, vetki paturi(highly recommended), mutton cooked with less spicy, chatni, papad, doi,misti..😘
Believe me the best bengali traditional dishes i have ever tasted in restaurant.. go for it and the cost of buffet is ok according to food quality so dont wait just go and enjoy..😊

Location: Near City Centre 2, Chinar Park

Ambience: The best I've seen for a restaurant serving Bengali cuisine, including the high-end ones. The huge, French windows letting in natural light, checkered tiles, traditional decorative pieces, ornate windows and lamps, all add to the vintage aura of the place.

Food: I was here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon with my family. We opted for the buffet which included a myriad of dishes.

The highlights-

•Peas & paneer pulao
•Luchi
•Aam Panna sharbat
•Chanar daalna
•Pabda maacher jhaal
•Doi murgi
•Mangsher jhol
•Bhetki chingdi paturi
•Chaatney
•Komola bhog
•Sandesh
•Papad

Each dish was impeccable in taste and didn't seem like it was made on a mass-scale for a buffet.

Service: Very slow but otherwise quite efficient.

Price: At 800++ per head, the Sunday buffet was worth the price, given that it had everything from chicken, mutton, prawn, bhetki to parshe on the menu. Even the taste couldn't be faulted with.

Verdict: I've been to both the Ballygunge and Salt lake outlets before and the experience had been ho-hum. This outlet pleasantly surprised me and I would highly recommend the Sunday lunch buffet.

Heard a lot of hype about this Bengali cuisine restaurant! Went there for a Sunday lunch with my friends. We opted for buffet which costs 800 + GST per person. However, we got a corporate discount of 10% on the sum!
Seeing both the menu card and pricing, we felt we had to choose buffet over A-La-Carte which is costlier than expected. The buffet menu was a bit disappointing though! Overall the items were: luchi, fish fry, beguni, sak, alur dum, basmati rice, peas pulao, moong daal, prawn malai curry, 'Ilsih macher matha (or kata, lyaza) die chorchori', chicken kosa, mutton dakbunglow, rosogolla, sandesh, chatni, payesh, papad.
We really wished to have more fish items ( even if it increases the per person cost). There was only medium size prawn malai curry in the main course, and fish fry as fish items, provided I am not considering the 'Ilsih macher matha (or kata, lyaza) die chorchori' as a fish item.
Apart from that, the dakbunglow mutton, chicken were just items with ordinary taste!
It would have been better if they added pabda/prompret/ilish( even if in limited number) in the main course instead of chicken/mutton!

We took the lunch buffet, felt that items were less. The quality and taste was good. The service was also good and friendly. Its located in a quite place.

If you want to relish authentic Bengali flavours then 6 Ballygunge is the right place. I have been here quite few times and I love the place for its simplicity and authenticity!
Coming on to menu.. there's a wide variety of food that is offered. I never miss to order bhetki whenever I am here.
Signature Bengali thali is worth a try.
And the desserts will steal your heart. I have to agree I have tasted the best Nolengur icecream here.

I would give it a rating of 4.5. I went for lunch and had opted for the lunch buffet which was priced at Rs. 800/- + GST. The buffet spread had quite a variety. Welcome drink - Aampora Shorbot. There were fish chop and beguni which were ok. Main course included luchi, cholar dal, dhokar dalna, peyaj posto, steamed rice, phulkopir bharta, saag, koraishuti chaanar pulau, bhetki bhapa, chingri maacher malaicurry, chicken, mutton, papad and chutney. For desserts they had sandesh, rossogolla and mishti doi. Coming to the review part. The ambience was good and as a custom they offered sanitizers as with all 6 Ballygunge Place outlets which is really commendable. While most Bengalis would have luchis at home, I really like their luchi because of the white color they render and also “phulko” which I have a special liking for. I liked the chingri malaicurry very much as the gravy tasted delicious. I was a bit disappointed with the chingri as it had more of shells and less fish. Also while the menu read koraishuti chaanar pulau, I hardly found any pieces of chaana. The sandesh was also very soft. Overall it was a very good experience. And to make things more attractive, they do offer corporate discount.

Went for dining after almost 6 months from the start of COVID 19. I must say they have excellent hygiene facilities. Firstly before you enter the restaurant, diners have to wear dispensable shoe covers; this will prevent the dust from your shoes being spread in the restaurant. Further you are given dispensable plates, spoon, sanitizer, bottles water. For starters we ordered Chhana Koraishutir Chop and Haansher Dimer Devil. Both of these dishes tasted amazing and honestly I did not expect the latter to be so scrumptious. Then we ordered Loochi and Cholar Dal. Loochi was bit cold but the hot Cholar Dal made up for it. Finally we had Kaju Kismis Pulau and Chingri Malaikari. They tasted good but just paled in comparison to the starters. We could not eat what we ordered. So we had asked them to pack the leftovers. Here also we experienced something new. In light of COVID 19, they provided us with the necessary packing boxes and we had to arrange the leftover food in the packing boxes.

Went to have buffett dinner on Saturday.. I must say it was worth the money.. The ambiance is extremely good... Craving for Bengali cuisine then this place is a must
It started with:
Welcome drink
Aloo chop
Chicken chop
Peas pulao
Steamed rice
Aloo tomato bharta
Moong dal
Dhokar dalna
Aloo dum
Chicken jhol
Mutton jhol
Prawn malai chingri
Palak fish
Chutney
Papad
Sandesh
Vanila ice cream
Excellent hot rasgullas

And not to miss to mention the behaviour of all the staffs is commendable
Have been here once and my experience with this restaurant has been pretty good. We had the bengali buffet which costs about 750 for one but it had every dish that would make a bengali happy. Starting from luchi with cholar dal to mishti doi in desserts. The quality of food was really good.

Went there for a team lunch I recommend this place and most of them was not satisfied.
point 1 - very very very limited item.
point 2- teast of food not up to the mark.
point 3- waiter are not that responcive.
.....
.........
if you want to go for ala carte its fine and buffet? I don't recommend.

This places has a very nice ambience giving a feel of zamindar haveli. Service is up to the mark though some people might find it a bit slow. Taste wise the place can be given 4.5/5 but price is definitely on the higher end. We ordered fish fry, bhetki paturi, badshahi pulao and bhoona mutton, all of which were good in taste. Over all this place is highly recommended for a family gathering when you want to have Bengali cuisine.

Visited there some days back for buffet lunch. Taste of each and every dish they served in buffet has the authentic bengali flavour intact which I liked most. As I went for weekdays buffet in desert section we did not have much option, only two but starting from decor service and staff deserve 10 out of 10. Coming to the menu of luch buffet for weekdays, it may vary day to day and on weekends they are having two three more options.

Starter: luchi
Potol baja

Main course: steamed rice
Sak baja
Alo kaklol chola
Alu dam
Chanar dalna
Bhetki pathuri
Chicken kosa
Kochi patha jhol
Chatni
Papa

Desert:Misti doi
Pantua

Apart from buffet we ordered Gandhi raj gol n lime soda in ala carte as they do not have any option of drinks in buffet.

This restaurant near the Westside building , some distance away from city centre 2 . Went for lunch . They have a good buffet spread and ala carte also , accompanied by bar . Very spacious and decorative . Tasted ala carte, mutton , chicken , luchi , nolen gurer ice cream .. all tested are very delicious. Must visit once. Although the lunch buffet looks costly.

Heard a lot of hype about the place and tbh I couldn't resist myself anymore. I might say it did live up to my expectations. We ordered Hijibijbij, Moong ke pakode, Murshidabad grilled chicken, paratha, Dhakai pora mangsho and bhuna chicken. We were a group of 5 and it costed us 2800 bucks to be approx. It was one hell of a meal. Dhakai pora mangsho is a must try. I was so busy eating that I forgot to click anything after the moong ke pakode. Coming to the decor, its authentic and will give you those Rajbari feels. Staffs are polite and courteous. Overall a great experience :)

The lunch buffet spread at 6 Ballygunge place has a variety of items from Bengali cuisine.
The Luchis, a local favourite and must-haves for Bengalis were served hot at the table. It was fluffy and deep fried. The Begunis, again served hot at the table, were perfectly crispy and tasty. The Bhaja Masala Aloo Dum wasn't my favourite of the lot. I would prefer saying it could have been made better as the spices lacked flavour. The Tomato Aloo Bharta was a simple item yet delicious - I loved it. The Saag Bhaja was again not perfect, I would rate it okayish. Undoubtedly, my favourite of this lot was the simplest (homely) Tomato Aloo Bharta.
The Dhokar Dalna was spicy and delicious. The soft cubes were perfectly fried with the rich tomato based gravy infused within them properly. I loved this item and had taken another helping of it. I am not a big fan of Parshe Maach but I love any kind of fish in sorshe (mustard) gravy. The quality of the fish was really good. The mustard gravy was seemed to have been cooked well and blended perfectly with steamed rice.
The Mangsher Jhol was simple yet delicious. The pieces were tender and cooked to perfection. No extra spices, this item was exactly like the one Bengalis make at home. Initially, there weren't any good pieces on the buffet counter but when we asked, the staff immediately got as juicier and succulent pieces than the earlier ones. This item went quite well with the hot Luchis as well as the steamed rice.
Here comes the desserts - Mishti Doi (sweet curd) and Malpua. I do not eat curd at all. Hence, as per the review of my parents, the Mishti Doi wasn't sweet at all, rather it was sour, thus not justifying the name of the dessert at all. The Malpua, on the other hand, was so sweet that I being a sweet-toothed person, wasn't able to relish it much. The malpua was really well soaked in the sweet sugary syrup. Later, we came to know that the Malpuas are actually not made in their kitchen. The desserts did not live up to my expectations.
This place is a must-visit if you want to try authentic Bengali cuisine at affordable prices. The restaurant looks elegant with the presence of an old yet classic Kolkata charm. The service is good and the staff is friendly and courteous.

We took the dinner buffet. The quality of the food was top notch. The best dish was Murgir jhol and Mutton Dak Bunglow. The staff is very couteous. Only thing is they have less options on starters compared to other buffets.. They have mainly focused on the quality of food instead of quantity.

We went there on last sunday. Food was not bad but service was too bad.Very few number of waiters were there to handle a large number of customers. They told to us that they have a water leakage problem in kitchen as an excuse for their bad service. Even then they did not stop taking guests and there was a long queue for the table.

Anyone want to try pure bengali food plz try here. All the recipes were delicious. Ambience was really good. Waiters were really courteous. They helped us in choosing food. All the food were different in taste and melts in mouths so softly. Shows topper was dabh chingri and paturi maach. Worthy for repeated visits.

Food at par with 6BP Ballygunge, however the people managing are pathetic and rude, one such comment is enough to understand their courteous nature to people standing and waiting: “table na thakle ki bari theke table niye ashbo?” On asking how long would be the waiting. God forbid the comment was not for me but another person waiting. After listening to this we immediately walked out.

Prime restaurant for someone who loves bengali cuisines. Decor of this place would remind you of 70s kolkata, the pillars, the ceiling, the curtains etc. everything has been arranged and pulled of in such a way so that guests can relate themselves with the 'Zamindar' yug of Bengal.
All their dishes are completely focused on how bengalis like it. Starting from Luchi to misti doi, they have kept everything in their platter which a bengali would love to have in their plate.
Coming on to our order:
1. Crunchy fried chicken: This we had as our starter. This goes pretty well with Luchi, as we had also ordered that. Tastewise, it was brilliant. It had a unique taste of sweet and sour, but at the same time complimenting well with luchi.
2. Luchi: Less oily. Our lunch would have been incomplete without this.
3. Basanti pulao: A dish that made me nostalgic. That aroma of ghee and the delightful sweetness gave this dish a perfect blend to go along with any main course dish.
4. Dab chingri: 8 small pieces of prawn, all dipped into a gravy comprising of mustard as its main ingredient.
5. Doi chingri: Well marinated with curd and dry red chillies for spicy flavour, this dish had a lot to offer as this was kind of new for me.
Overall experience was pretty nice. I only have one complain i.e., their serving is quite slow. This might be because I went on a holiday, but still I felt like sharing that.
