Review Penguin Inn Pvt Ltd Restaurant - Kolkata (Calcutta)

What I like most of this restaurant is it's consistency. It keeps on serving good food since last so many years.. I lost count.. Since my childhood have been visiting Penguine. Although eating out was a very rare phenomena in our household, still whenever I came here, I really liked the place. Till date it continues to keep up with it's legacy. I have also attended a few birthday parties here. The arrangements are quite good.. You can take away also.. My good wishes are always with this restaurant.. Keep serving us mouthwatering dishes in times to come..

It is a good restaurant on BT Road in Khardah. Good food(taken non-veg), specially fish fry. They have a banquet hall good for gathering 70 persons.

Cooked delicious dishes.. Excellent hospitality.. Cleanliness and hygenic the veg and the non veg items were very tasty.

Food quality is just ok ok type( not too good not bad). Budget friendly.specious place. stuffs are very casual in behavior.

A pretty big and nice place to eat just on the side of the BT road. The food quality may not be mindblowing, but good. It's a regular restaurant with Chinese and Indian menu. Server was very polite and caring.

Very fine. Staff behavior ok. I have taken food from here for a long time. I and my family never have faced any problem of stomach after taking food from this restaurant.

Good dineout place at Khardah with fresh foods and value for money. Once upon a time Biriyani was the best dish over here but now days not only the Biriyani they are special in lot of dishes like Mughlai, Chinese, Continental, Indian etc etc.. Over all best place for your family dine out. For prices please visit the restaurant. I am fond of their Mutton biriyani. I loved that. I will also recommend the chicken tikka masala. Nice ambience and hygiene.I definitely recommend the restaurant to give a try.

12/12/19 have a worst experience with restaurant. Food ordered at 8:30pm and did not receive the food after multiple follow up. Around 11:30pm someone called and told due to some inadvertent situation unable to deliver food will give you inr.100 voucher after depriving from dinner. And order status changed to delivered around 10pm.

Located on B.T. Road, this restaurant has always been one of my favourites. I love the Chinese dishes served by them.<br/>The staff is courteous and polite.<br/>I love their Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken Noodles. Quite economical.<br/>Must visit.

The worst restaurant service. The staff is absolutely notorious . I have ordered food at 1:30 till now it has not been delivered and it has been listed as 50 min delivery. Just rubbish

They sent an absolute rubbish- a plateful of rice and meat curry instead of Biriyani, with a cost of 210/-, which just doesn't cost 100/- ! Never order from here.

I visit this place numarous times from childhood. Food quality is good..it is a decent place to go with the family.Love the biriani and mocktails are their speciality.<br/>

I have placed an order on 9.10 PM and now it's been more than 1 and half hours. Still the status of my order is confirmed. Calling the restaurant directly is of no help. They are not responding. I have tried contacting zomato customer services but that too is of no use. Will think twice before ordering again. Thanks

It is sad that one of the most popular and loved restaurants of Khardah is a mostly hated one at present.<br/>Their quality has really detoriated like a lot. I had chicken biriyani which was basically rice and chicken gravy mixed together. It was nothing compared to what they used to serve before in their prime time.<br/>I hope they do something to get back on track else in this time there are many restaurants which can easily beat Penguin in terms of quality. The name is not enough.

Are you getting choked under the burden of your hectic work load? Kill those hours of pain by giving a royal treat of ice-cream. Yes I ordered a chocolate ice-cream in the office hours. I love its packing in a plastic container. It comes with a decent quantity of two-scoop with chocolate sauce on top of it. Completely loaded with a rich taste and I enjoyed having it.<br/><br/>Thanks Zomato for the quick delivery.

Worst experience ever and disappointed. Delivery took almost 2 hours from the order. And the delivery also happened after personal intervention. The restaurant and the zomato both where confused with each other and blaming each other. Also the food quality was poor. A piece of mutton was smell like a few days old.

Again horrible experience with their delivery..OH MY GOD!! Such an unprofessional delivery system they have..zomato are not taking respo to delivery their items.sometimes i ordered 3hrs before they do not bother to inform even.

It doesn't deserve a single star also. Previously it was a good restaurant in Khardah but now it is turned into a disaster. Poor quality of folding, service is poor, most of the thing is unavailable.

Order placed@9:14..the owner Shubham called me and enquired my address at 9:24 and said it's fine...we deliver there..<br/>9:54..9:50 owner called me and said aapne delivery charges nhi diye..I said I don't have the option of not to give delivery charges and place the order...I suggested him to speak with Zomato and let me know...what needs to be done..<br/>Never rcve a call...started calling them from 10:50..no one responding the calls..owner phone got connected around 11:20 and he said he thought that I have cancelled the order..Then he blamed Zomato for their miscommunication..<br/>He committed me that he will get the order delivered to me...at night..<br/>His manager contacted and said they cannot deliver as it's too late..<br/>I called the owner and he never rcvd the call ...His manager responded the call and said I said u we cannot deliver..<br/>Asked him to refund me the money...his response was awesome..We haven't rcvd the payment then why we will refund..<br/>

This is the place where I use to have my food so frequent. I have seen people give rating quite low to this restaurent, but trust me their their food quality & quantity as awesome as they maintain hygine. One of the best places to have brunch.

One of the Oldest restaurant in Khardah.. Situated right beside B.T. Road, easy to visit this place.. By road or by train, it's a easy stop for any and everybody... I remember that I have visited this place for the first time when I was a school student, and now am 31 years old... You can understand how aged and experience this place is, so don't wait for me to say, try your own... Recently they have started the banquet either, I haven't visited that part so I can't say anything about it.. 😇

Their management is very poor. They are very careless for their customers. Yesterday I ordered 1 plate of egg chowmein at 8:30 p.m. and they confirm me that within half an hour I surely got my order but after 1 hour they ask me where is my address and they told me that they could not start they are running from the restaurant, seriously they are worthless restaurant in Zomato app

This is specifically for my experience of item that I ordered online on 5th February.<br/><br/>I ordered for special mutton Biriyani and delivery was excellent by Zomato however this restaurant sent a single mutton Biryani with single/standard size mutton piece pieces into half... I am Biriyani lover and order Biriyani from all restaurants near my locality and have never had such experience...

This place is good for a dine out.<br/>The biryani is not so good though but fried rice related items are really delicious. I suggest mixed/ prawn fried rice.

On navami 2k18,we went here and ordered 2plate of chicken briyani....the quality of briyani was worst and it felt that rice is mixed up with chicken curry....too much bad experience😢

It used to be the best restaurant in sodepur many years back but now it's quality has degraded. Went there a few days back, ordered a few dishes~ chicken Manchurian, chilly chicken, mixed fried rice, biriyani. Nothing was up to the mark. Both Chinese side dishes tastes the same....no diff in there gravy....and above all they used dried red chillies in chilly chicken and Manchurian gravy.....I mean who does that..... highly disappointed.

ordered penguin inn special mutton biriyani few days ago, and it was too much salty to eat. again ordered handi biriyani and fish Manchurian, biriyani was okay, but the fishes were not fresh and smelly we couldn't eat the Manchurian.

I ordered chicken tandoori. It was very much tasty but the quantity is very bad. The size of chicken was like 'chicken tangdi kabab'. And they did not serve green chatney with it

We ordered a Mutton Handy Biriyani on 13th November 2018. Two pieces of mutton were very small and full of bone. The quantity of biriyani was also not up to the mark. It was just waste of money for nothing. This restaurent is just looting the money.

Today I ordered Mutton Handi Biryani and and Chicken Handi Biryani. But the taste of the food disappointed me. It just tasted like an ordinary Rice n meat curry. No flavour of Biryani.

I ordered so called Special Veg that was not special at all, contained only unwanted and rich spices and didn't found any vegetables instead of some cauliflowers. Also Chilli paneer which was also of very below quality.

I ordered Chicken Tikka Kabab. I received the order 32 mins late. The menu said 8 pieces but it had only 5 that also small in size. I was lacking on salt and the taste was very bad. It was cold and hard as well. Worst food experience.

On navami, we went for a family lunch at Penguin Inn. As we thought, in durga puja times we have to stand on the queue. But the scenario was totally opposite, we went there at 1:30 pm and only 3 seats got filled up. Then we ordered for fish orly which was very tasty, butter nun, murg mirch masala and mutton biriyani. The murg mirch masala was noting but chicken tikka butter masala which was nicely prepared, but the mutton biriyani was the worst part of the lunch. The biriyani rice was hard, that I have not expected and another negative point they were not serving any cold drinks too.

Todays mutton biriyan was too bad. Mutton and rice are not fresh. Mutton size is very small.You people are taking 230 for mutton biriyani but quality is very bad. I will not be taking any thing from this restaurant. They do not deserve to get even 1. It can be called মাংসের ঝোল ভাত instead of biriyani.

I had taken away Chicken Biriyani and Panner chilly from this place during the Durga Puja this year. As I don’t stay in Kolkata and was craving for Kolkata Biriyani since long I had a lot of expectation. But when I opened the parcel after coming back home, I found the Biriyani to be stale. Definite smell was coming out of it. I am really disappointed and would never visit this place and also would not recommend anyone to visit.

Very bad experience with the restaurant for the first time. I ordered food from a resto near me. The order was placed and the address was given properly. The payment was done. The resto rejected my order.Later they are saying it will take 5 hours to come from khardah to barackpore instead of 1 hour

The food was okayish. Not much of a taste or materials used to hype about. But the delivery person who came to deliver the food is super annoyed as he had to come down twice to deliver two different order from the same house. I mean super rude for such a reason. Please avoid placing orders here.

Food is horrible! And priced like famous restaurants. Biriyani has no taste and who on earth adds a a chilly chicken like layer on butter chicken! Big mistake to order in spite of the bad ratings.

I'm really very disappointed with their service. I ordered from this particular restaurant, and when i called for the order confirmation the receptionist said your order is being delivered and when I asked for the delivery boy's number she kept my call on hold without even asking me to be on hold. And this continued for more than 10 times.<br/>Worst experience I've ever had.<br/>This really saddened my guests too.<br/>I need to visit the restaurant soon and see who the receptionist was, and need to talk to the manager.

Food was very good.. 5*<br/>But packaging was just the opposite.. oil was leaking.. even the delivery man said they should have given a container.. improve the packaging quality as it gives first impression
