Review Taskeen - Kolkata (Calcutta)

Visited this place for the 1st time during this Ramzaan month. Tried their Murgh Changezi and Falooda. The Changezi was really lipsmacking, but pricewise the falooda was not up to the mark.

Food was great. We had murgh changezi. it was a fried type of chicken but with a special spice mix. taste is good. But service is average. May be it is due to Ramzaan crowd. they served very very late.

Went there at 12 pm when the shop was opening. We tried their famous falooda . It was awesome. The old man at the cash box added something on the top of the glass of falooda . The taste and quality both were excellent. The quantity was also good. The price was 80 rupees per glass.

Visited first time, just one before the Eid. Very crowded places with lots of mouth watering street food around. Perfect heaven for food lovers. Zakaria street and Taskeen are crowd pullers.

Location: On Zakaria St, closest metro station is Central. It's a 10mins walk through narrow lanes from Central metro. Ambience: Couple of tables on the footpath, basic clean, shabby waiter. There's a small ac room upstairs. Open kitchen on the footpath, no washroom, the basin is on the footpath. Service: Only packaged drinking water available, service is fast, nobody will give you the bill, you need to go to the cash counter and pay. Ordered: * Falooda: The desserts were kept in a fridge on the footpath, falooda was served in a glass, was a nice mix of creamy saffron milk and small pieces of noodles, excellent taste, Rs 80. Overall, very good dessert. Highly recommended!

Had kebabs in so many different places but this place was memorable. So much crowd and noise on 19th April. Kebabs-8/10 One thing I hate, few were fried.

High quality food, esp kababs genuine stuff. Ambience or restaurant space not upto the mark, staff is very well behaved except the main Malik or owner who sits at the chair as head. He needs to be bit more gentle

If you want to come for vives come in ramzan, It is highly crowded with festive mood during this month.Getting seat in this time is hard. If for taste come in another time of month . Try Murg Changezi that is made very well here. You can also try the Thick Lassi and Faluda here. We tried malai chicken with romali rooti that was also quite good but Dilli 6 is more famous for this dish. Must try items: Murg Changezi,Lassi,Faluda

The Taste of the Chicken was Very Good, I can say Very Juicy and Crsipy. Also the Murgh Changezi is like all time favourite of mine.

I had ordered Chicken Changezi and Faluda. Both were delicious. But the fact that there is barely any space in the shop to eat and I had to basically eat on a table and chair directly on roadside was the only con.
arnab das
One of the best eateries in zakaria street. The best thing is that they have a secret sitting place up top. Most people just sit on the roadside table to eat. Afghani and peshwari chicken are a must. The biryani is average and dalda is used which is no good. The changezi chicken is good but not that special.
ARSHAD RAJA
This is a very popular food joint located in Zakaria Street , just in front of Nakhoda Mosque. During Ramadan, there is a steep increase in the crowd visiting this eatery. But I personally believe it's not only a place which should be visited during Eid but also a place for a promenade in normal days as well. The items I tried in Taskeen: •Peshawari Muragghan •Sheermal ( a sweetened bread ) •Falooda •Taskeen's lassi •Fish Mahi Akbari The most famous dish here is Chicken Changezi ( not tried )and Fish Mahi Akbari. But both of them are actually overhyped. On contrary, the least popular items taste quite good. The biggest negative side here is that everything is super expensive which actually failed to match with the quality , henceforth not worth it at all.

Taskeen is the best place to have food in zakaria street. You can have multiple varieties of kebabs here. Try their famous chicken changezi. Must try the faluda and lassi of Taskeen. Both are best in taste. Prices are a little bit high but it is justified with the taste of food. You will get great service there.

Dili 6 is getting all the hype but I would rather stick to taskeen for it’s amazing food

One of the most popular food joint in Zakaria Street, it’s really popular for the out of the world Faluda, and chicken changrezi. I somehow didn’t like it much but it taste is definitely something different. Definitely worth a try. Faluda was worth dying for.

Been there during Ramzaan of 2018... The chicken changezi is spicy n yummy... Loved it...

The restaurant stays open till 2 in the night. That's a relief for nightowls. We tried lassi and faluda. Lassi was quite nice for 30 bucks. But the faluda costs 60, and doesn't come with a frozen kulfi. They give it with some kesar malai/creme. The shop also has English coffee,etc- which I'd try next.
Shilpa Chakraborty
The taste of food is too good and quantity is too much... Price is reasonable...
Rudradeep Biswas (RDB)
Taskeen is a overhyped place at this area, local crowd simply avoid it. But it draws sizable amount of crowd as it serves no beef. The Chicken Changezi is their top dish, which is basically double fried marinated chicken. I found it not so good, over fried and rusty! But their koolfi faluda is quite nice.
Aritra Dey
The Murg Changezi here is a speciality and quite delicious. The chicken is fried with a lot of spices to give your tastebuds a special burst. Outstanding!

One of the popular place in Zakaria Street to try some of the best mughlai cuisine.

By taking the recommendation one of my friend, I ordered crispy fried chicken and kulfi faluda.

Crispy Fried Chicken - There are certain rules about this item. At first you've to order a certain amount of raw chicken. Then after weighting, they'll diced it into smaller pieces and fry it. You've to pay the money according to the weight of the raw meat.

Kulfi faluda - One of the finest kulfi faluda I've ever had. The serve it in a glass. Perfect balance between sweetness and smoothness. Love it.

Overall it was a okayish type food experience. I was really expecting something good from this place but the fail to impress with their main item.

Probably the most sought after place during the Ramzaan month. After a long wait, got to reach the counter to try out their famous authentic Murgh Changezi,& Falooda. They also have a fish version, but did not try it out.The chicken was marinated in secret blend of spices & fried twice, resulting in a crunchy outside but succulent inner core.An amazing chicken dish which is a must try fro fried chicken lovers. It may seem bit costly to some, but its definitely worth it.

Went to this place during Ramzaan to try out their Mahi akbari. It was quite crowded as it was somewhat the peak hours and the time of iftari. They had arranged for 6-8 chairs for customers to sit and eat during that time but normally they don't have sitting arrangements. We ended up having that too delicious Falooda I can still recollect it's taste. It was too good only at ₹55/- and it's an all season dish so you will get it whenever you visit this place.

The outlet is famous for their signature dishes 1. Murgh Changezi and 2. Mahi Aakbari and 3. Faluda

The concept is the fish and chicken is marinated with spices and is deep fried.
But the taste is not so good you have to rush down over here that maybe of the improper balance of spices during marination.

* Personally felt the quality of chicken is bot upto the mark.

The Faluda is the thing to mention thats why given three star.

Trip With Sasmit
Taskeen is a food corner near the Nakhoda Masjid in Zakaria Street. They serve very limited cuisines but are of high demand during the Iftar in Ramadan.

=======================

:: PRO ::
1. They have seating arrangements.
2. Easy to access; just near the masjid.

=======================

:: CON ::
1. The food is overhyped.
2. It doesn't accept cards.

=======================

About the Food,
Their best-sellers are Mahi Akbari and Chicken Changezi. Though these featured in many blogs, we found it to be overrated. It was quite average in taste, but a bit expensive, on my personal note. Other than that, we ordered Faluda which was below-average. We were quite sad after we came here with a lot of expectations.

Must-Try: Mahi Akbari (still not that great)

About the Ambiance,
If you visit in a Ramadan evening, the hustle and bustle of Zakaria Street is something you will observe. Very few restaurants, other than Taskeen, were able to provide you with proper seating arrangements. They had tables and tools over the street to sit-and-dine.

During ramajaan we went there to try their famous Murg Changezi, falooda and lassi. During iftaar the place was very crowded. We managed some place to sit and murg changezi was awsome. The double fried chicken with mint - coriander chatni filled my heart. The falooda and lassi were also good.

I had heard a lot about taskeen and so I visited it with my friend on the eve of Eid. The changrezi chicken and much talked about falooda was something we tried . But sadly it turned out to be very bad.The chicken changrezi was nothing but deep fried and heavily salted chicken . Did not like the taste at all.The falooda was horrible too and it was not at all chilled.
I am not visiting taskeen again soon.

Soo we went there in the month of ramzan to try their special chicken chengazi which is only available that time of the year..We ordered 500grams of chicken and falooda..There was a huge crowd but the food was worth the wait..While waiting it started raining heavily so girls were allowed to sit upstairs and eat..We had to wait one and a half hour for the falooda but omgg the falooda was heavenly..Good experience..Both the falooda and chicken chengazi are a must try..

Visited this streetfood outlet at the time of Ramzan which was on 1st June, 2019. There was a long queue before us and it took us almost 20 min to give them order. We ordered one of their famous dish Chicken Changrezi (it's the leg pieces of chicken which is dipped into some turmeric potion and then deep fried) and it costed us Rs 570 pe KG, can you believe that? Since I was new their I thought I would try some, that's why I waited for about 1 hour after giving them order.

Got it after 1 hour I saw there were chicken which was cut into pieces and it didn't weigh like 1 KG. I was going nuts at that time. I felt like being cheated at a famous outlet. This chicken changrezi is served with green chatni and lemon by side. As a spicy food lover, I'd say it's not that spicy. Just squeeze the lemon and you are good to go.

Well I am never paying Rs 570 for a street food ever again.

This is the place to be in during Ramzan. Very crowded. You have to wait for your turn to get a chair seat on the street infront of the shop. They have minimum order quantity for everything. Prepaid service. Price is really high. Taste is below par. There will be beggars hovering all around you asking for food, which is really upsetting and disturbing. Once you order, you have to wait long for your food.
Diyasha And Shantav
We all know that Ramazan and Zakaria street is quite trending now in Social media. Following the trend we end up visiting taskeen to have their legendary chicken changezi and mahi akbari. So basically Chicken changezi is a kind of fried chicken, they marinate the Chicken with more than 50 spices and double fry it. It was then chopped, sprinkled with some spices and served. It tastes just heveanly, absolutely not like any ordinary fried chicken. The mahi akbari is the same dish prepared with huge cut of rohu/katla fish. The special feature of their marination is that the huge amount of spices creates such a complexity that it can beat any of the branded fried chicken.

Another famous restaurant at the heart of Zakaria Street. Right next to Dilli 6, this place too serves quite a number of mughlai food. The famous food here is chicken changezi. Didn't really get a chance to try their changezi though. Had a chance to try out their Shahi Tukda but was not quite satisfied with it. It was quite runny and hard to chew. Would probably try the changezi next time.

Taskeen is one of the most popular, busiest and congested restaurant in Zakaria street during Ramadan.
We had wait for 2hrs with a token in our hand. You are lucky, if you hardly find a chair on that road.

We just ordered 300gm Murgh Changezi which was cost ₹162. 7 piece chicken chunks with bone.

•Murgh Changezi:- They weight a marinated reddish color chicken piece then tag a level into that piece and deep fried. After that they remove the level and cut into small cubes and deep fried once more for crispiness. They served it with onion rings, lemon and green pudina chatni.
I wasn't satisfied with the taste. It was chewy, oily and we found blood on a chicken piece!

I will surely try their Maahi Akbari in off season.
Ranajit Naskar

Visited this internet hyped place during ramzan, overcrowded and very unhygienic
We ordered
∆ ½ kg chicken chungezi
Very oily and not at all ½kg they had given us very less chicken and some of them very not cooked properly
∆faluda
Not something we enjoyed but decent to have

We r looking forward to visit this place avoiding ramzaan time
P.s :- very difficult to find a place for parking bike and four wheeler stay away from this place during ramzaan
Situated near the entrance of the Nakhoda Masjid Taskeen is a hot favourite among the street food lovers during the holy Ramzan.Expect a long queue almost every time.Service is prompt though.Drool worthy food will compensate the struggle in the sultry weather.Cool yourself with the fantastic Faluda.Taskeen is easily one of the best in its category.A gem of a place.

Okay so this is probably the most famous destination when you come to Zakaria Street during the month of Ramadan.
Today was the last day of the month, and I finally managed to get to this popular place. Since it was the last day, as expected, it was very much crowded. We had to wait for almost 30 mins just to give the order, and then again wait for around 30 mins to get the food. Well I'm not blaming Taskeen, the crowd was unbelievable and they were trying their best.

Coming to the food, we ordered (as you can guess it) Chicken Changezi of 600 grams (also commonly known as "Murgh Changezi"), 500 grams of Fish Akbari (commonly known as "Mahi Akbari"), and a Faluda. All I can say is that, waiting for the food for around 1 hour was truly worth it. The Murgh Changezi was hot, crispy, and extremely delicious, so was the Mahi Akbari. And the Faluda was simply heaven, a must try at the end.

@Metropolitan boy.
After planning several times , finally visited Zakaria street yesterday. Roads were jam packed. I knew where to give a visit, so went to Taskeen.
I took 350 gm of Chicken changezi ( You have to select a marinated chicken piece , they weight the piece and then you have to pay ) which was 189 rupees and Kesar Faluda was 55 rupees per glass. Coming to the taste -
1 . Chicken Changezi - It was just brilliant in taste, although a little bit in oily side but you can't escape that as you are eating fried chicken. You can definitely taste the combination of masalas( 52 to be exact) that they marinate the chicken with. 😁

2. Kesar faluda - After the fried chicken , the best thing you can have is their faluda( They have lassi too). Super tasty, not very sweet and refreshing. You can taste some nuts also in there. On the top they add kesar which acts as a cherry on top. ❤️

You can check my food videos on
Youtube - Metropolitan boy
Instagram- metro_politan_boy
This is the first time I've been here...it's a completely different experience..crowded..very hot and sultry..but still liked the place...I went there with my students...we ordered Chicken Changreji..basically fried chicken...50 different spices are used then marinated and deep fried and cut into bite sized pieces...served with lachcha onion and a green dip..we also ordered Lassi and Falooda drink...I likedthe Lassi...because it was not over sweetened..and the Falooda drink tasted like kulfi and rabri..very rich in taste...we immensely enjoyed our Ramadan feast here...specially recommend the fried chicken..tastier than typical crispy chicken...
I had went to this place some days earlier nearly about a week ago. I had heard from many people about this shop at zakeria street. Finally I had got my time to visit their.
This shop is famous for Chicken Changezi and mahi akbari during Ramzon.Mahi akbari is a fish item. Both of the items are prized in kgs
Price of chicken Changezi which we had tried in 540 per kg.
The place is cozy. But being a food lover it's a heaven 😍

Today we are at Zakaria Street, Kolkata. It's 6 pm, Iftar starts after one hour or so. The restaurants and street food joints are busy, customers are congregating.

After having the Suta Kebab from Adam's Kabab Shop we were delighted, we started our food exploration with new enthusiasm! The streets were packed with people and vehicles, the side of the streets were packed with shops selling variety of food items.

But, it's not possible for us to try all the delicacies, so we went to the famous eatery, Taskeen straightaway. There is a long queue. Somehow, we managed to order 300 grams of Murgh Chengezi, then waited for at least half an hour before we could savour this absolutely brilliant chicken fry.

The whole chicken is marinated with a whole lot of spices (more than 50 types of spices according to the owner), then it's deep fried. After that, it's cut into small pieces and again again. It was excellent, the chicken was juicier than I expected it to be. The crunchiness, the tangy spices and the sweet chutney - Really! The perfect appetizer!

Then, I had their Lossi & Faluda. Both of them were delicious and refreshing! The Faluda here is a must try!

I tried their Famous Chicken Changhezi which is sold in terms of weight. Per kg costs around 560. It’s a deep fried chicken with some proprietary masalas. Taste is good esp. if you have it on the spot. Also tried their lassi which was quite ordinary. I have heard their falooda is good but they had run out of that item on that occasion.

Visited during Ramzaan on a Monday evening. It had quiet a good crowd.
It took approx 30mins to place an order and 15mins after that to cook it for us.
Took 400 grams of Chicken Changhezi which came around Rs 182 and it's enough for 2 if you plan to try more things or have tried already.

I have been here 2 years back and the quality was far better than I got that day. Now it's pretty over hyped. Not enough coating, not enough flavour. It was pretty similar to roadside pakoras I used to have in Hyderabad for very cheap, this quality isn't what I got 2 years back. It was just decent.
Best time to visit is during Ramadan month. Awesome chicken changezi... one has to really stand and fight to get the prises. I never had such good falluda in my whole life... it’s really great

During summer as the mercury rises, the iftar market in Zakaria Street comes alive with those observing fast in the holy month of Ramzan. Aside this, its a melting pot of the city during this time of year which is not limited to only food bloggers and photography enthusiasts of the city like me.

As we set our foot towards the corridor of famous Khau Galli and guess what the most popular and crowd puller Taskeen is waiting to welcome us with Murgh Changezi. Chicken breast or leg portion marinated in 50 plus spices before double fried in boiling oil and copped in pieces before serving. With every delightful bite of this crispy fried chicken you will realize its exquisite taste and why this fuss and crowd all about. Do you know they are the trademark holder of this dish? Chicken measured in weight and around 200 grams should be enough for a single person. Keep space for thick, creamy Falooda and Lassi. These are must to wash down the spice and keep your energy quotient high in this sultry weather.

Word of caution, the place is not for hygiene freak or fine diners, the visuals take you back in time how we use to cook in a rustic way. However you can enjoy with your family and friends round-the-clock as this is one of the safest place in the city.

Follow me at Instagram: thegoodfoodbro and Facebook: Good Food Bro

This is a wonderful place to have your food. It’s pocket friendly too. Located in Zakaria Street.

Do try Chicken Changrezi, Mahi Abkari, Chicken Reshmi Kebab and Falooda.
These items are trademark from this place.

Recently had chicken changrezi which is nothing about deep oil fried chicken with full of oil taste is good little bit. Mahi kebab was fish (katla they said) big piece of 490gm or more enough for 2 people its simply fish fry (mach bhaja). Overall not so good. One time visit only.

Visited today during Ramadan. It is very near to MD. Ali Park. The place was over crowded but we were lucky to sit upstairs in AC( subject to extra 20% charge) and enjoyed their world famous Mahi Kabab, Chicken Changezi and Faluda.
Taste wise awesome. A must visit for food lovers.

I went to this place during Ramzan with two of my friends. Thanks to Mir and Foodka series on YouTube from where we came to know about this place.

This place is famous for Chicken Changezi and Mahi Akbari during this time. Chicken Changezi is a double fried chicken kebabs served with green chutney and salad and Mahi Akbari is a double fried katla fish served with green chutney and salad.

Both of these items are priced in kgs so we had to first weigh the quantity( pre-marinated) we want, pay the bill in advance and then they prepared the dishes and served us.

Both the preparations were mind-blowing and mouth-watering and very well cooked.

This place is also famous for Faluda which is a dessert item served in a glass. It ws toooooo goooooooddddddd!!!!
We also had one plate of Shahi Tukra which was equally good as well.

Visited Taskeen on 25/05/2019. Located just beside Dilli 6, this place creates a lot of buzz during Ramzan. We tried both their signature dishes - Murgh Changezi and Mahi Akbari. Murgh Changezi is similar to fried chicken, but the variety of spices used makes it extremely delicious. But Mahi Akbari was far below expectations. Nothing special about it. If you visit during Ramzan, be prepared to wait for at least an hour before you get your food as this place becomes very crowded.

Small shop with basic seating and out of the world chicken changrezi and delectable faluda on a budget that won't break your bank. The staff seemed overworked but were still polite and welcoming. A must go for every foodie out there, you wont be disappointed.

Ps: They sell the chicken changrezi by weight, so its easier to customise the portions. And if you are in doubt ask the staff, they were quite helpful to us.

It's situated beside the Nakhoda mosque.....their special menu is....chicken changezi..and Mahi akhabari....and also faluda... chicken changezi is deep fried chicken with onion and chatni......good to test.....and another special dish is Mahi akhabari wichich is deep fried of katla fish...we ordered both dishes....changezi was ok good experience...but mahi akhabari was really awesome.....big PC of katala fish deep fried.... crispy...soft fish piece..just mouth watering ...and the small and flavor of spices was just awesome....

First u choose the the piece of chicken and fish....then you have to pay bill...and after that you get through it....

And last but not the list...was Faluda...was very good to teast...it was refreshing....cold..and good ....

Situated just beside 'Nakhoda Masjid' it us one of the most famous restaurants in this area. Went there during 'Ramjan' and the place was really crowdy. They are famous for their 'Murgh Changezi' & 'Mahi Akbari'. Both the items were deeply fried and were a little salty for my palate. I believe it could have been better. Recommended though.

Hey folks wassup , how you guys doing... Its been quiet a while since I last posted out here and today I'm back to talk about this very famous joint called Taskeen...

Situated near the grand Nakhoda masjid this place remains fairly crowded and even more so during the month of Ramadan... Now of late there's been quiet a furore about this place and it's food (not that it wasn't there earlier) after it got featured in Mir's Foodka series... So this Ramadan me and my friends decided to land up here to try two of their ICONIC Ramadan Special dishes - Mahi Akbari and Chicken Changezi. But sadly we couldn't taste their Mahi Akbari because they ran out of stock by the time we could place our order so Chicken Changezi was all that we had to satisfy ourselves with and quiet frankly even this dish wasn't as good as we had expected it to be.

The Chicken Changezi doesn't at all live upto all the hype that has been created. While it doesn't taste bad it also doesn't taste too good either. It's SIMPLY a fried chicken and they literally fry the shit of the chicken - even the bones become brittle like bread crumbs - that's the level to which they fry it.

The experience was quiet good overall and we tried a few more joints as well. But if you guys are planning to drop by this place only for their Chicken Changezi then please don't expect something over the top; it's just so so...

Well thats all for today will be back real soon with another review of another place till then take care and #Keep_Munching Folks.
