Review Cafe Story By Chai Break - Kolkata (Calcutta)

Dipayan Dutta
I am appreciating their collaboration with 'The Story', because one can buy a book from "The Story" and read there in the 'Chai Break' cafe section, under the same roof and same floor. Now, I can say that the food was nice. I ordered virgin mojito with chilli cheese toast (They added chicken with the toast, as I wanted something non veg similar to chilli cheese toast). ✓Virgin Mojito was refreshing, but a bit syrupy. ✓Chilli cheese toast was tasted really good, they added a good portion of chicken on it.. The behaviour of the waitor person was quite polite.

My favourite destination when it comes to tea. The Dal chini adraak tea is undoubtedly the best. The pasta and garlic bread also abounds in great taste. Food is of high quality and the response is fast. No waiting for a prolong time. The presence of books makes the atmosphere content and delightful. Best place for a book lover.

Located near Manyavar and Bhwanipore Education Society, this cafe is the perfect place for meet ups. The cafe is located along with the book store and the book lovers can read books if they want to. Chai Break is a reasonable cafe with a beautiful ambience. The staffs are nice and respectful. We ordered Kesar Tea and Iced Mocha along with Chicken Pizza ( Medium). The medium pizza size was absolutely perfect for two people and the taste was lip smackingly delicious. ❤️ The Iced Mocha was absolutely perfect and Tea was nice, not too sweet not too bitter, perfect taste. Loved the cafe and surely recommend everyone to visit.

This place is so underrated, I can't. I wish I could rate it more than just 5. The ambience is cozy, the food is delicious, and you get to read books as well. I mean, how amazing is that??? Just loved the place. Must visit.

Decent place with decent ambience. The food is okay. Could improve a bit and should have some more options to choose from. The tea was good. The staff were nice. Might seem a bit pricey. Overall okay.

A nice place to visit and spend some me time or some quality time with someone, you can also enjoy with your friends and family too. A good collection of books are available, enjoy them while having some pizza and any beverages of your choice there is a variety option here and you can play some games as well on the 2nd floor . Bought a notebook and a cutter from the stationery section maybe I got too inspired by Death Note.

LOCATION- Beside the shopper's stop outlet on Elgin Road. A 10 to 15 minutes walk from Netaji Bhavan metro station.<br/><br/>AMBIENCE- An attached cafe just beside a bookstore. This is a place where you will find things and articles for people of all ages. They host variety of books covering almost all of the genres, a small toy section and a gift section too. I quite liked it.<br/><br/>FOOD-<br/>We had:<br/>1. CREAMED CHICKEN ON TOAST- In one word, YUMMYLICIOUS. It was creamy, smooth, rich, thick. The bits and pieces of chicken were just melting in my mouth. The toast beneath was too soft. The price of it could have been more reasonable compared to its quantity they give. Also, the cream slightly lacked consistency. All over , nice having it. I highly recommend.<br/><br/>2. MASALA CHAI- Well blended and perfect for any tea lover.<br/><br/>All over, it is a good, cozy place to hangout with your pals.<br/>I liked it

Visited this cafe a few days back really awesome place, we have ordered cappuccino, brownie with hot chocolate sauce,BBQ pizza . All the foods are awesome 👌 Must visit just awesome

The best book cafe in Kolkata serving a great variety of dishes from different cuisine genres. The manager Patrick is extremely courteous. The best part are the window seats, where you can sit in small mattresses and read your favorite books. They have recently included specialty teas in their menu. Their super berry is my favorite.

It's just 1-minute walking distance from Bhawanipur Society college. Have visited this place several times with my friends during my college days. This place is heaven for the book lovers . I totally love this concept<br/>".Eating and reading are two pleasures that combine admirably."<br/>' C.S. Lewis<br/>Anyway the food quality is good .<br/><br/>

The menu is very limited but the dishes are good. The atmosphere is really cosy and the pizza is amazing. The salads are also good. You can always hop by to the bookstore and then have a pizza delight.

Recently we visited this lovely cafe and had some delicious food along with some great books. This cafe is very much recommended for people who love reading and love books.<br/><br/>Great place to hangout in groups as well as for couples.

We visited here for a peaceful hangout, best part is you'll get to eat among the ambiance of books.<br/>We took,<br/>KitKat shake- very tasty, smooth and chocolaty.<br/>Margerita Pizza- Thin crust though, quiet okayish.<br/>Baby corn- spicy, hot and crispy and yummy.

Have been a couple times with friends. Quite pocket friendly for college students. Food quality was ok. The staff weren't that warm, I recommend that they should work on that.

Amazingly delicious food. Especially babycorns.. They are yummy😄. It's a cute cozy place with books and stationary. The service is really good. Will love to visit again

An ideal place to sit with a good cup of coffee and enjoy reading books which are available there itself.<br/>Its a nice and cozy cafe with a huge selection of books which can excite all book lovers.<br/>I went there this afternoon for a brunch and I was quite impressed.<br/>I had mushroom n cheese sandwich, lemon iced tea and iced cappuccino.<br/>I really liked the other two items except the iced cappuccino because it was a bit too sweet in taste for me.<br/>Finally,one must visit this book cafe if they want to spend some quality time alone.<br/>

Been there yesterday with a friend. Location is near to the Forum Mall. We were looking for a cafe but for the low rating we weren't sure to go there. As I entered the I fell in love, paradise for book lovers. Cafe area is little small. This place is not for big group. You by yourself or with 2-3 friends can spend quality time.<br/>We ordered Strawberry shake, Tea (dalchini adrak, tulsi adrak, sauf elaichi) and Breaktime club sandwich.<br/>◼ Shake was delicious.<br/>◼ Tea was very strong in flavour, cinnamon could be little less. It's perfect for a very cold winter evening.<br/>◼ Sandwich was above from my expectation. It was perfect. Crunchy outside, filling was lipsmacking delicious. Fries are too. Crispy outside, soft inside. I taste some secret spices in fries(in my opinion). *Highly recommend<br/>They serve freshly cooked and take decent time.<br/>

This branch of chai break is inside the bookstore "STORY" near Besc college thus giving an ambience of lounge to this place. The sitting arrangementes are very attractive and cozy. It's a nice place to hangout with friends or family or loved ones. The staffs are also very friendly but the drawback of this place is the food takes long time to be served and also the pocket pinch is unnecessarily high.
Abhishek Sarvadhikari
Chai break is a cozy place inside a book shop in Elgin road. The sitting area is good specially the window side. Now since its chai break thus a cup of tea was my obvious selection. I tried their dalchini Masala tea which was good. What I liked is the amount of sugar they have put in which was on the lower side and perfect to my preference. Secondly for munching we ordered a cheese garlic bread which was good in taste but honestly speaking felt more of a cheese tandoori roti.
Tanima Ganguly
Good place good music<br/>Good ambiance good food also but costing is little high..<br/>The service and behaviour is also very good.<br/>Over all it's a good experience<br/>
FoodieAnil
Average food. Food at a restaurant is all about experience. Went with three guests from Kerela. The food was good Rate 4... but service experience was not at all up to the mark Rate 1. So average has given 3

Peri peri veg pizza 😋<br/>I never opt for veg pizza but it is since a few days i love veg pizzas more than non veg.<br/>And the pizzas available in this place are absolutely amazing.<br/>Right amount of vegetables, perfectly spread sauce, wont comment on cheese because it will never be enough cheese for me 😁<br/>Love this place for a perfect gossip over coffee

Well ,chai break is one of my personal hangout spot in kolkata ,often I keep visiting the alipore branch but this time to catch up with a friend I visited the elgin road branch <br/>One thing which I found attractive about this place was the footfall ,this place has an amazing footfall and crowd here is really good and better than the other branches <br/>The area of sitting is very well segregated, one area is for the hookah taking and other area is for people who just want to have normal food <br/>I extremely loved the concept of how they designed the menu card ,extremely unique <br/>So , I catched up with my friend here ,we sat in a place where hookah was not suppose to be taken <br/>Coming to the dishes we ordered ,we ordered crispy chilli baby corn and ali olio and in the drinks we ordered was the virgin mojito <br/>The virgin mojitho was refreshing but moreover after sometimes it felt like we were having chilled water ,somewhere or the other the flavour was missing <br/>The chilli baby corn was extremely crispy but the gravy was comparitively a little less but it was quiet filling and the portion was good enough for two people <br/>The second we ordered was the aglio olio ,it had a very subtle flavour, good flavour of sauted garlic and yes again the portion was good enough for two people <br/>Coming to the service ,even though it was crowded the service was still fast and the staffs were extremely responsive to the needs of the customers<br/>The bill came around Rs 800/- ,400 per head ,little on a higher side but yet decent <br/>Altogether a must try place<br/>

For all the book lovers out there, visit this place if you haven't already.<br/>You can read books, have coffee and chill around. This place is so soulful that you'll end up sending hours. Story has chaibreak as well. That can accompany you with food.<br/>

This place is good to chill with your pals. The food is good too. But there's nothing great about it. If you just want to have a good time, you can visit here.

This place is located near Allenby Road, 2mins from Forum Mall as you walk towards Landsdown. I would like to mention my experience out here in a few bullet points.<br/>🔵 Ambience: It's a book store with a cute cafe. The Cafe is run by Chai Break. They have an amazing collection of books. You can sit and read them whenever you want. They also sell cute stationery, luxury pens, college/school art supplie, tiffin boxes, umbrellas. There's a separate kids section where you will get books meant for kids and toys as well. They also sell chocolates, Home Decor items, Music system and Cameras.<br/><br/>❤️🔵Staff Service: Staff service is what brings me to this specific outlet whenever I think of visiting Chai Break. The Staff are extremely cordial and polite and they really add brownie points of this Cafe. Feeling confused what to order? Rely on the staff. They give the best suggestions out here. This has been my favourite Cafe for quite sometime now and I have always come out with a smiling face from here.<br/><br/>🔵 Food and Beverage: I have tried several food and beverage items out here. The recent addition to their menu-Adrak Elaichi Chai has stolen my heart totally.I am a hardcore tea person and I am very specific about tea. Cafe Story by Chai Break is quite strong in the tea game ❤️. All of the food items I have tried were finger licking good. I must mention the Caesar Salad which had the right amount of everything. The staff recommend 4 topping pizza and it was a hit as well. Their crust is one of a kind. In the desserts section I would recommend Chocolate Monte Carlo to people having a sweet tooth. The Brownie Ala Monde would be loved my all I bet. The best part about their food after taste is the presentation. It somehow makes the food tastier.<br/>This place deserves 5stars for food and more than 5 for the staff service. Will visit again.

I visited here with my friend, and just thought of ordering only one food in order to try how was it,we order pasta ,it was really not good,I just couldn't finish because it did not taste eatable and i just wasted my 326rs in that pasta.

What better than coffee and books together. That too by a window! Bonus. If its on a rainy day.<br/>This used to be on the second floor of the bookstore but since the last time i visited the second floor is now closed and hence the cafe has shifted to the first floor.<br/>The staff is friendly.<br/>Ordered the oreo shake, caramel cold coffee and iced mocha. They were absolute love. The Alfredo pasta was okay-ish.<br/>But it was a great experience. Comfortably sitting by the window watching the rain pour and sipping coffee and discussing books ❤️

Today I visited here and ordered 2 cappuccino,<br/>they charge Rs 95/cup but the quality was so poor , even street side coffee<br/>which cost 15 to 20 Rs are better.<br/><br/>Being a coffee lover , I visited other cafes of Kolkata , like Blue Mug, Abar Baithok , Whatsup cafe, CCD, Barista . Etc. But never tasted that much poor coffe under this type of big banner .<br/><br/>

This is the most wonderful place for all book lovers, where there is a huge collection of books, stationary and gift items. The atmosphere is soothing and peaceful. A small outlet of Chai Break is situated here.😊<br/>Though pocket pinching but, quality of food is really good and you will get few of the best veg items, tea, coffee and shakes to have.😊<br/>Soutrik Roychowdhury

While looking for a place in Elgin road to hold a meeting with my client, I came across a suggestion from Zomato. It was Cafe Story by Chai Break. The location of this place was easy to find being situated a few minutes away from Forum Mall. I was quite happy to see the place. It's actually a small café area in a book store where people of different ages stop by to enjoy a chat or a book over a hot cup of coffee, milkshake or a satisfying sandwich. It reminded me of Cha Bar in Oxford Book Store in Park Street though it's more spacious. Again, the menu has more than just sandwiches. Though the spread is wholly vegetarian you will not be disheartened with the cheese grilled sandwiches, the delicious pastas or freshly made pizzas. The menu prices are affordable. The ambience is again beautiful and you can even buy books or souvenirs of your choice from the well spread out store. I ordered fresh lime soda, Chinese bhel, four toppings pizza and chocolate milk shake. I loved the taste and freshness of it. The service is good and the people serving the clients are friendly. They provide with some good suggestions of food too. If you like to spend time without being bothered by an overwhelming crowd this place is the right one for you. Bon appetite!!!

I am glad Story have this cafe by Chai Break. The must try of Chai Break is mixed sauce Risotto and iced mocha, undoubtedly the food is good just that sometimes they mess with crispy chilli babycorn, paneer and mushrooms by making it sweet.<br/>Serene ambience with books around to read. And nice cafe to discuss anything with your clients or friends. The staff are Courteous and their service is quick

it's best for those who are in love with books ... it's not that good for those who loves to eat ... we ordered cheese risotto which was good , crispy chilli potato which was way to crispy It was hard for us to chew then came crispy chilli babycorn which was a disaster no taste at all ... may be this happened the day we went because the staff was not that bothered for serving us though they were cordial n polite but it doesn't work for filling your tummy ... our order came after 35-40 mins we ordered it ... the service is very slow for food but shakes came quickly n trust me pineapple n mango shake is a must try , we also had Virgin mojito which was good ... the last and the most important thing is the quantity n quality of food DOESN'T MATCH WITH THE PRICE ... my over all experience says below average for this place ..

Located inside STORY, Cafe Story by Chai Break is a book lover's paradise, besides the food and beverages.<br/><br/>This vegetarian book cafe boasts of an amazing relaxed ambiance with western pop music in the background, a really good place to chill out with friends or browse the vast collection of books accompanied with trendy sips and bites. The bookstore also stocks on lovely gift items, knickknacks and stationeries. (Needless to say I purchased a fiction book from here as a token).<br/><br/>Coming to the food, which is the focus here on Zomato, tried the Royal Tea, French Fries, and Plain Cheese Grilled Sandwich served with French Fries.<br/>The sandwiches tasted good, the breads being well-toasted and grilled and stuffed with enough delish cheese. The platter was accompanied with crispy french fries and a dip. <br/>The French Fries in the separate platter were these deep-fried potato fingers served with a chilli mayo dip. Salted and fresh, they tasted moderately good.<br/>What compells me to rate this cafe a 4 is their Royal Tea, which was excellently made and absolutely delicious to drink after a hearty meal of snacks. A twin tea blended with the richness of kesar, this is a must try here, if not any other.<br/><br/>Overall, if one loves books and wishes to spend some quality time over some good conversation and good food, this cafe should be on their food itinerary.
Sakshi
Perfect place for chilling. The ambiance is really nice and food is really amazing. Nice service <br/>It had a separate section for the once who wants to take hookah and that's great.
Pooja Khatri
Been here several times and the food has always been good. <br/>The things to try: <br/>Peri Peri pizza<br/>Variety of iced teas<br/>Mixed sauce pasta<br/>The Oreo and KitKat shakes.<br/>All these dishes and drinks were really good and filling. The shakes especially were thick and served with a scoop of ice cream. The peri Peri pizza is a speciality. <br/>The interiors are sophisticated and appropriately decorated for a book store. The food is a bit pricey but the taste makes up for it. <br/>

If you're a veg lover, and don't want to burn innocent animals! Walk in ASAP!! From ambience to quantity, there's quality in all! Eat your heart out, also don't forget to puff a few flavours out of the amazing basket of hookah!!
Prerna Lahoti
Had ordered a blueberry shake and a mango shake. The mango tastes more like milkshake and the blueberry, like a lemon drink. Don't go for beverages at this place. Above all, service is very bad. Their billing system is also mismanaged.
Rituparna Poddar
This is the only Chai break which doesn’t offer hookah. Food is good with good ambience. Ideal place for book worms. I just love to have espresso solo over here. 😊

An amazing place to hit up..with the vast collection of books stationary and gift items..this is a real soothing places that relaxes your body soul and mind completely..this is a small outlet of chai break situated here..a pure veg one but it has mind blowing food at a bit higher price
Jinia Giri || Cuisinestalker
This is the nearest cafe near my college.. N it's a cool idea that its on the second floor of a book store. People usually read books and spent time with coffee. I prefer one Oreo shake and salad, well the taste was good but somehow I found the price to be extra.
Anumita Dayal
Basically a bookstore with this small cafe on the 1st floor. A nice place to sit and grab some food with books in hand. Bookworms will be loving this place. Food is good but not pocket friendly.

Must try the mud cake and the hot chocolate... the best atmosphere for book lovers ... bcz of story. The people out there are very polite and descent. Everything out there is freshly prepared so there is no doubt of left over food used in the next day

this place is near about Rabindra sadan metro! ok kind of experience! not pocket pinch, but the taste of the food was satisfactory, i ordered alfredo pasta, hakka noodles, mango shake and chocolate shake! all of them was good!

A typical cafe from the outside is what it looked to me from the outside but to my surprise it had a huge smoking area inside (good for hookah lovers). For non smokers like me there is a non smoking area too. Had Margherita pizza which was quite good. Their pizzas are usually thin crust and comes in 8 slices (enough for 2 tummies). For desserts, had KitKat shake. For a first timer, it was good.<br/>Apart from the okayish food, I did find their service not quite upto the mark. All waiters were busy catering the smoking area customers. The non smoking area houses the kitchen outlet. I had to ask them for ordering and they said that they would send the waiter, who eventually came after 10-12 minutes.<br/>P. S. - This place is purely vegetarian!
Shinjon Constantine Pramanique
Horrible menu for food. Exorbitant pricing considering everything is veg. Food is not UpTo the mark. Never ever order Caesar salad. You might as well eat lettuce and mayonnaise. Cooling of the premises is very shoddy. <br/>

The place is well spaced out and a paradise for a bookworm and to sip onto a cup of Cappuccino along with it. The lemon ice tea is a bliss ❤

I had a sad experience today. I had ordered for a portion of sauteed mushrooms for takeaway. Firstly I had to wait for 40 mins for my parcel to get ready and the staff kept saying ma'am its ready, just give 2 mins for about 15 mins. Secondly, it tasted horrible. The mushrooms were not drained properly. It was watery. The chef had just added the spices and packed the parcel. It wasn't even sauteed. I am quite disappointed by Chai Break with the way they had treated the order. After 40 mins of waiting, I had expected the dish to be good but it wasnt even prepared properly. Thirdly the garlic bread that is mentioned in the menu was not added to the parcel.

A book store with a cafeteria. It is a win-win situation. A perfect place to take a break and relish your time with your book friends. This outlet is inside cafe story beside forum mall. Perfect for mocktails and tea. We had a green apple mocktail. A lazy monsoon afternoon, an interesting book and a refreshing book, what more do we need? Good things really come in small packages.<br/>This time it was the spring heat in April fools Day when I tried there penne Arrabiata while I read Charles Allen's "Kipling Sahib" as time passed by over the window. A perfect gateway to think it through amidst delicate comfort food, an inside out perspective and a change in your mundane life. I give up a thumbs up to the mildly spicy penne Arrabiata which was fit for 2 persons and definitely a hearty meal for myself.
Anwesha Mondal
Ambience not that great. Hookah was usual. Food was not that satisfying. A little over priced. Service not up to the mark. Didn't really enjoy much. Would highly recommend a change.

No prizes for guessing why I love coming here. The books! Tucked away on the second floor of the Story Bookstore, this cafe features its own lovely shelf full of books of all kinds. And you can just take your pick and settle down, and as long as you order something they will let you sit for as long as you want! I recently stayed for three hours! Well, I did buy a cup of tea as well as a cup of coffee, but that's more because I needed the extra caffeine. Coming to their offerings - they do a great Spaghetti Aglio Olio, a filling meal and full of flavour. Their pasta in mushroom sauce is also yummy, though a tad on the heavy side. The coffee is nothing to write home about, usual machine standard coffee. They do have a rather nice jasmine tea, though, for when you want to cut back on caffeine. But for once I give less importance to the quality of food, because this cafe is essentially a cosy place for readers to spend hours in - the drinks and eats are more the excuse to stay here. Do drop by, you'll love the collection of books here!

This is a small joint located inside a bookstore near Forum Mall. You shall get good vegetarian food here, they do not serve any non vegetarian food. The potato wedges and cheese chilly toast are really amazing. Even the mushroom sandwich can satiate anyone. Since jt is amidst a. Ook store, they are forbidden to use open fire, hence the signature dish by chai break, the mushroom duplex is not available. The ambience is great, bright and one can either have a chat with friends or a solitary soul can indulge into some good books present over there. The iced teas are refreshing and tasty. Overall, a worthy visit to curb a sudden hunger.

Inside the bookstore, Story, is a small cafeteria: Cafe Story by Chai Break. It occupies space on the second floor of the store and is situated such that one can view the busy Elgin Road, sitting there, through the glass panelled wall. They even have dedicated bookshelves for the cafe, so you can immerse yourself in a book while sipping a cup of aromatic hot Chai, fruity flavoured ice teas, hot or cold coffees or sundry other mocktails. If you start feeling a rumbling in your tummy then there is a variety of ways available to satisfy you, ranging from French fries to sandwiches as well as pastas and pizzas.<br/>I ordered chilly cheese toast and Royal tea. Loved both!! The first glance at the cheese toast when the server placed it on the table made me appreciate the simple yet elegant presentation. It tasted awesome too, with just the right amount of chilly and it was cheesy!!😃 The Royal Chai....was aromatic with elaichi and saffron..... flavoursome!!😃<br/>The staff were courteous and helpful and didn't hurry me up...let me relax and enjoy my cuppa with the chilly cheese toast.😃

Located at 2nd floor of Story book store near forum. Loved this place if want to spend some alone time with books ,sipping coffee and some wonderful snacks. They have a huge shelf of book only for this cafe and some sets of games like chess and all. Good options of beverages , snacks ,Pizza and pastas. Ordered Adrak tulsi chai and corn spinach sandwich ,food was good and service was awesome .

Nice ambiance. The all veg approach didn't please me. The tea and coffee they offer are quite good. The food didn't appeal to me much and seemed to be a tad overpriced.
Gourab Mitra
Good place for every book lover ... Or to cook up a storm over a cup of chai or coffee ... With munches by the side ... Royal Tea can be a good try ... And being within Story , a book store , is the biggest plus

We loved Crossword, we love Story. And this little Chai Break cafe couldn't have a better setting. But strictly vegetarian only, a disappointment for us meat and fish loving bengalis.<br/>Nevertheless,I must say all my disappointment vanished once I dug into my Al Funghi pasta which was lipsmacking delicious. To go with our pasta we had a cappucino and iced mocha.
Harman Singh
I used to go there for browsing book store and sit there with my friends for a coffee and sandwich <br/>But the complaint i have is that staff does some discrimination,i was with my bengali friend today He asked for a glass of water and his request was obliged and few minutes later he asked for myself and staff said that we have to pay for bottle and they dont have regular water on the pretext that they have limited quantity for cooking which is i think is just discrimination in which language we ask <br/>They are even charging service charge and selling overpriced food ,Cant they give a glass of water

This place is a delight for those who want to sip coffee while reading a book on a lazy afternoon. There are some board games too like chess, Scrabble, pictionary, ludo etc. There's a poker set too. They could improve upon the food though.

Why I love this place : It's inside Story. Nothing is more noble than places that serve you food when you are 10ft deep into a book.<br/><br/>Why I resent this place : They serve 100% vegetarian food. I'm carnivorous. <br/><br/>As a result, I mostly order coffee when I come here. Aand, the sad thing is, they don't serve that great coffee. I tried their Mint Mocha Cold coffee, it was sweeter than death itself. (I mean, veryy sweet.)<br/><br/>I mostly stick to my good old cup of regular latte. It isn't superb but it isn't bad either. <br/><br/>At any rate, you are never going come here just for food. You're gonna wander in here during a bookventure. And for that, this place serves it's purpose pretty much effectively. <br/><br/>Eat. Read. Laze. <br/><br/>Let me know if you specifically like one of their dishes, I'll give it try :)

This one is inside the story previously known as Crosswards in the third floor at Elgin Road. Just another place to read some good books over a cup or coffee or sandwich's.

Located Inside the new Story bookshop which was Crosswords some time back in Elgin road, this place has a relaxed vibe. If you want to have a cup of piping hot tea along with some good books, this is the place to be. Quiet, unhurried and with good food it's a feel good place. The decor isn't much but the view overlooking the busy streets of Elgin road from the top is pretty intriguing. I was there to catch up with some friends and buy some books, so just had a cup of coffee along with a chilli cheese toast, pretty basic stuffs but really good taste. Would definitely recommend!

I only had the milkshake. Before drinking it I thought that it was pricy but the milkshake was worth the money. Really thick and cold and very optimum amount of good chocolate.

The new outlet of Chain break sans Hookah, a must visit if you want good food alongwith a good book. The waiters are very courteous and needless to say the food is also lipsmacking, be it the pasta or the starters.<br/>Absolutely enjoyed going to this place, will surely visit it again.

By now, all know where this place is located. I visited this place recently and i did not like the space. The staff was polite. We placed the order despite of the fact that we were not given any hookah menu, i ordered a "kiwi feedo-deedo" as their menu says and a kesar chai and some sandwich. The kiwi drink was too sour and not at all nice. The sandwich was good. And the chai was okay. The only good thing is that you get books and board games. Otherwise i don't think its worth the money.

Cafe Story by Chai Break is located in the 'Story' store in Elgin Road near Bhawanipore College. Unlike other Chai Breaks of the city, this one doesn't serve hookah which Chai Break is known for. But the food is equally good as others. Favorites include Pizza, Jacket Potatoes, Pasta and Risotto. Expect to shell out about 350 per person.

Ok, here goes my story of Chai Break at, well… Story!<br/><br/>I was there a while back on this languid Sunday, browsing through some cookery books and picking up stationery when a friend suggested I try out this place. I was nibbly, not really hungry.<br/><br/>From the time I sat down, I didn’t get a comfortable feeling. It’s the kind of feeling that one has when one is unsure about what to expect from a desolate eatery. There was just me and this other lady on the next table reading a book and nursing a warm beverage.<br/><br/>The chap who came to take my order, did so rather grudgingly, as he was engrossed in a conversation with his two assistants and chose to give my raised hand very little attention.<br/><br/>“A Mushroom Cheese Sandwich and a Kesar Chai, please!”<br/><br/>Off he went, while I was observing the soiled sofas under a motley cluster of coloured lights, encased within protruding wooden boxes.<br/><br/>This is when my ordeal began…<br/><br/>The three jokers were obviously not trained staff, and chose to be oblivious of the fact that here I was – more than half a Bong, having lived all my life here, that I could grasp every nuance of their language!<br/><br/>They were discussing (rather loudly) how many spoons of sugar to put into my Kesar Chai, and one actually said ‘make extra tea, we’ll have it!’<br/><br/>The other clown took out something from their deep-freeze and actually smelt it (noticing me looking at him) and asked one of his accomplices something that was inaudible. It made me suspect whether what I’d be eventually getting would be edible!<br/><br/>The last straw for me was when the guy who took my order actually admonished one of them saying “Mattar ki kore dili, be! Case kheye nebo!” Mind you, all of this – punctuated with the choicest ‘para’ expletives, was loud enough to offend even the lady next to me, but did it matter to them? Did they care? No way.<br/><br/>By now, it was way past 20 minutes from my order – and I was not only focused on walking out, but also giving them a piece of my mind, before I did so. I intended calling Sidharth Pansari to share my unfortunate ‘story’; till I realised this freak-show would probably be too insignificant for him on a Sunday afternoon. But yes, I will tell him that Cafe Story is a bad brand extension, given the abysmal service levels! <br/><br/>When I asked the chap serving me “How long more?”, he was nonchalant and raised his head as if to say – 'dude, you’d better wait for the masterpiece that we are rustling for you!'<br/><br/>That’s when I lost my cool and gave it to them in ‘khaanti’ Bong – “Shono, tomra’i kheye naao, theek aachhe? Cha jokhon extra korchhoi nije’der jonnyo, taar shonge aamar ‘mattar’ deoa mushroom cheese sandwich’ta o kheye naao!” And I walked out in a huff.<br/><br/>I will never revisit Cafe Story again. Perhaps, no other outlet of Chai Break either! And through this review, I wish to tell you, dear foodies – and the management, that this is a classic example of a brand story that left such a bad taste. If anything, sack the trio and replace them with staff who are not untrained ‘para-chheles’, please!<br/><br/>Net, net... Keep your chai. Just give us a break!

Service was fine. Liked their muffins very much. Their sandwich was fine. Blunder was their coffee. <br/>Previously had their lemon tea once which was just fine.

One day I was walking down Elgin Road and all on a sudden, I chanced upon Oxford bookstore. Being a bookworm, I went inside. From the first floor, I smelt coffee and on enquiry, discovered this joint within the bookstore. I was also delighted to find a ex-staff of Coffee World working there. The boys were good. I took cold coffee and a sautéed mushrooms. Delicious. I repeated my visit and then ate pita bread pocket as suggested by the staff. It was a bit hard for me but not foul tasting at all. Good experience.

This cafe is situated in the STORY, ELGIN. The decoration is quite good, but, the food was not up to the mark, if you go with their choices, then it will simply be wasting your money.

I love the pizzas at this place . Place is pure veg so good for anyone with that restriction. Also has free wifi. Service is good .<br/>Problems <br/>The non hookah section doesn't have ac. Big problem<br/>They don't serve drinking water except if you buy water . Seriously ? Which good place doesn't serve water ?

This outlet of chai break is situated inside 'STORY' which previously used to be crosswords. This place is really aptly situated for book lovers as book worms like to spend lots of time in a bookstore and having a cafe in a bookstore is just brilliant. <br/>Coffee is good and so is their ice blended coolers. <br/>Have nice hookah options too with a huge big screen TV for matches. It is pretty cool.

I visited here on q dry day with my school friends. Heard about this place a lot before and found to totally worth visiting. Good ambience with good food and service. We had hookah and starters along with mocktails and tea. This is pure veg cafe with no option of alcohol. But its decent to hang out with friends specially on dry days.

Beware!! They don't serve water for free. But that's okay. Suddenly one of them may turn up with a glass of water if asked for, only to be swept away by another one, saying it is dirty tap water and that you should not have it (and all that cause you had just ordered for a juice and may cancel the order if you quench your thirst already). Duh!!!

This outlet of Chai break is located inside STORY (elgin road- previously crosswords). It is smartly and colorfully done up with shelf full of books and plenty of board games to keep you busy while you sip into your cup of tea and much on to those tasty snacks .Though the beverages and food are just about average what I really like is those board games  Prices are pretty decent as well . A must visit for all those who wants their book with a cup of coffee or vice versa !
