Review Pou Hing - Kolkata (Calcutta)

Sumit Panja
It's a authentic Chinese restaurant. If you love Chinese dishes you can definitely try it. Quality and quantity are very responsible according to the price. But the dinning space is quite small, so if you are going to dine in at any festive season, you might have to wait outside.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in BBD BAG. You will get proper Chinese dishes here and taste is also very good. Con: The only con is its not proper for a family dine out. You may not feel great to spend time here as you won’t get a decent environment here. Tip: you can take away your food which is best option . Always ask for less spices if you have kids. Must try item: Drums of heaven.

Pou Hing is an authentic affordable Authentic Chinese Eatery at the famous landmark of Tiretta Bazar. Basically an old style non-ac restaurant, Pou Hing serves one of the good Chinese delicacies if you are on tight budget in your pocket. Their menu has quite a variety of options which can be a choice to choose the best to eat. They don't serve any Pork items. We had dinner and tried their food including starters and main course, which was well enough with quantity and good quality. The only drawback is that the space is limited for seating and they don't have an airconditioned interior. They now accept card payments which was earlier only cash payment, was being a problem for many in this digital era. Overall, much recommended place if you love Authentic Chinese food at pocket friendly prices !!
Samaritan's Entity
It's a eatery house where I visit when I am happy or sad no matter what! The delicious Chicken Volcano is a stress buster. Mixed Mefoon, Prawn Salt and Pepper, Wonton, Drinking Wings are the other dishes which I recommend. Every one should visit this place to experience delicious Tibetan/ Chinese food. I visited this place a number of times... sometimes with my brother and cousins, sometimes with my friends, sometimes with colleagues, sometimes with my partner... and I shall visit this place in near future again.

Chicken Volcano is worth the hype. Shanghai Prawn is also a dish not to be missed. Gets packed during the weekday lunch rush
Pritha Bagchi (Sweta)
It is a small eatery and the food quantity here was a lot with respect to the price. Liked the Meifoon (rice noodles). But the wonton noodle was not up to my liking.

It can be called the hidden gym of Chinese food in the city. Seating capacity of 15 to 20 people. I like the taste of every Chinese food here. If you are an authentic Chinese food lover then this place is for you 😋

Good food. But small in size. Very historical and well known authentic Chinese restaurant. Worth a try if not many. Sadly no pork and beef available. So if you want any of them you might get disappointed. Try another restaurant in the surrounding.

I have been meaning to visit this place for long and finally got the chance to go there one evening. We ordered pou hing special fried rice, prawn salt and pepper, mixed gravy noodles and hakka noodles. The food taste is really good and their service is also quick. The quantity of each item is also good enough for 2-3 people and the price is also cheaper than that of China Town.

Fantastic, I was there with my two friends and they just loved it. We have ordered mix noodles with gravy, salt and pepper prawns (Must try), chiken volcano, steamed wonton, rice noodles.

Literally in real terms it can be said as a hidden gem of the city. Along the top notch restaurant in the city, without any luxury and modern amenities it can give a run to them. Coming to the food, we ordered: Chicken Clear Soup: We took small portion and asked them to make it 1/2, though the portions were good and accompanied with good amount of chicken. The taste was pretty mild and it has slurry texture which I thought made it taste much better than others Chicken Volcano: It is the game changer in their entire menu. Topped with a small portion of fried egg and tossed in a red hot sauce gives a magical aftertaste of sweet and spicy. The chickens were also very soft and fried with a minimum amout of coating. Chicken Fried Rice: After a pretty long time got the authentic taste of chinese fried rice. It has flavour of soya sauce and vinegar which we used to get earlier in reputed chinese eateries. The rice was properly cooked and well topped with chicken and egg bhurji. Really pleased to taste a fried rice like this after a pretty long time. Hong Kong Chicken: It tasted different from the other restaurants. It contains small chunks of chicken not big pieces. The taste was really like a old chinese eatery and perfectly goes with the fried rice. Other than the food, the behaviour of the staffs are really nice and ambiance may not have any luxurious amenities but kept nice clean with a decent seating capacity of 25 people.

One of the best most authentic Chinese food restaurants, We had a plan to go there for long time, finally reached there and enjoyed awesome foods. Only thing may trouble you is parking getting area, but it is manageable overall excellent experience

Fantastic Chinese cuisine. Situated in a very well-known and well-liked section of old Kolkata. It is difficult to carry on the ancient tradition in today's digital world where there is a rush of new restaurants. There is a considerable amount of food here, and the cost is fair. While you're here, stop over and taste the fantastic Chinese cuisine. 🍜

One Of The Best Old Chinese Restaurant In Town Located Near Poddar Court.. Less Crowded, Average Decoration.. Food Quality and Quantity Both Are Awesome.. They Should Make This Place Bit More Clean For Dine In.. Otherwise It Is A Good Place To Have Chinese Dishes
Debjit Das
We ordered the Chicken volcano, mixed meifoon and hot garlic chicken(half). The chicken volcano was really good, the meifoon and the hot garlic chicken was also good in taste. The quantity of the meifoon was enough for two people. Though the hot garlic chicken tasted good, the quantity was not that great. The service was also good. One needs to keep in mind that it is an eating house and not a restaurant. Won't find AC here. Overall the experience was good though the locality of the eating house is not that great.

One of the best and oldest Chinese Restaurant in town. It is located near Poddar Court. Both food quality and quantity is awesome. Foods are less oily and also delicious. Literally in real terms it can be said as a hidden gem of the city. Along the top notch restaurant in the city. without any luxury and modern amenities it can give a run to them. Coming to the food, we ordered:- 1. Chicken hot wester sauce 2 . Chicken Egg Fried mea Foon 3. Fried Wonton.

It was an amazing experience the place is a bit old but the food tastes like original Chinese food. The wanton and chicken volcano is the game changing dis i also liked the chicken meatball soup. Lovely place 😊

One of the authentic Chinese restaurant in Kolkata. All food's taste are light and delighted and quantity is anough for two people per each item. But one thing I was extremely regret ful thing is there is no pork dish available on their menu.In authentic Chinese restaurant there should be have some pork items in there menu.

This resturant is an excellent budget friendly place to dine. Don't judge by looks and ambience. Just WoW....

'Pou Hing' is an age-old Chinese restaurant located in Tiretti Bazar. The ambience here will surely give you an aura of Old Calcutta.

I tried :-
🔴Chicken Volcano (5/5)- Fried chicken balls in different types of sauces with a fried egg on top is what the dish is.
🔴Chicken Fried Rice (5/5)- This one was amazing. The quantity served was huge.
🔴Chicken with Mushrooms and vegetables (5/5)- This one blew my mind. It was delicious. Shredded chicken was served in a delicious gravy laden with corn, carrots, mushrooms, bell peppers etc. It was delicious.

I will definitely visit again.

Perfect place for authentic and pocket friendly Chinese food. I loved the bright and cosy ambience of this place and the guy who served us was very polite and friendly, unlike another eating house located nearby. No pork or beef is served here. Now coming to food. We ordered:
Chicken wanton soup- The quantity was enough for four people. The hot soup along with juicy wantons was a great start.
Chicken volcano- This is a must try. The good sized chicken pieces in a hot and sour sauce are irresistible.P.S. This has a spicy after taste.
Chicken Mei Foon- Rice noodles with a LOT of veggies and chicken. Quantity is more than enough for two people.
Chicken Steamed Rice- The guy suggested us to try this as Ham Choy Rice wasn't available. And this was a surprise to me. The steamed rice with a gravy consisting of vegetables and chicken was so delicious and yet so light. I loved it.
Chicken in Black Bean Sauce- A completely new flavored dish which I hadn't tried before. It has a rustic taste. I enjoyed it.
A must visit! Definitely recommended!

I have been visiting this place quite often. Run by a smiley polite Chinese guy. I had ordered their chicken yam dumpling noodles . The portion was really big and the dumplings were buttery with generous portion of chicken n greens . 4/5 on taste.
Their mixed gravy noodles are also yum. Quite a lot of prawn and chicken n vegetables. Although the gravy is a bit bland but I like it a lot better than Tung nam nearby. 3.5/5.
The wontons are a bit thick skinned 3/5 nextdoor Tung Nam a lot better
It's easy on the prices all dishes are around Rs.150/190 and huge portions. Can easily be shared by two.
Would definitely recommend if you are a noodle fan with an authentic taste. Particularly the dumpling noodles where u get dumplings as well as noodles to taste together

Food taste excellent. Quality was good.
Compared to price quantity was sufficient more than enough for 2 people.
Price was not too high. Pocket friendly
Will love to visit again.
Recomend every people to visit.

Pou Hing is a not- so-old eatery at Tiretti Bazar run by a Chinese family of Tiretti Bazar , Old China Town. . Pou Hing is located at Sun Yatsen Street, Tiretti Bazar. . From Poddar Court - Walk towards Central Avenue and turn right from KIT building. Pou Hing will be on the right hand side. It is difficult to notice due to the crowded locality.

A few days back I visited Pou Hing near Bow Barracks with friends. We had chicken pan fried momo, Omlette,Chicken Volcano as starters. It tasted great but the Chicken Volcano was a bit oily.We also had Chicken Soup single which can be easily shared by two people. It was great in taste, very light and quite filling. The food tastes great and also very pocket friendly.

This place was on my wishlist since many days so went here for lunch on Christmas. One of the oldest places at Tirretti market to have authentic chinese I feel. The place can accommodate 20-24 people at a time and the ambience would give you the Chinese vibes.

But their food was delicious and the quantity was so good like 1 plate of fried rice would be more than enough for 2 heads.

We ordered:
◆Sweet Corn Chicken Soup- ₹90/-(half) I would recommend their soup as it was too tasty and soothing to the taste buds ideal for winter of course.
◆Egg Fried Rice: ₹140/- It was served in huge quantity and with proper amount of egg.

◆Egg Chicken Hakka Chow:₹140/-This was served in huge quantity too with perfect taste.

◆Chicken in Hot Garlic sauce:₹170/-(8pcs) The perfect balance of sweet and spicy taste though I found it a bit spicy but the chicken pieces were quite big.

The services are prompt too even on festivals.

My love for wantons go beyond measure and now that I've had these amazingly lip smacking and devilishly delicious wantons from Pou hing, no other wonton will ever good enough. Period

One thing I would mention first is we ordered cold drink.. They took the same price labelled on the bottle..which is not done by any other Restro
Chicken volcano was too good.
Quantity of mixed rice and pou hing special rice is worth the price.. And quantity is satisfying.
Prawn was good..
Chicken we ordered was little blunt but it was oj

Small joint.. The staffs are very sweet.. Must try their honey chilli potato.. Other dishes were too good.. My usual place for Chinese lunch😋😋

Had steamed wantons which were okayish. For main course we had prawn schezwan rice along with chicken volcano and both the dishes were mouthwateing, seriously the best schezwan rice I have ever tried, even better than Barbeque, Shangri La or anywhere else. This place is a must try.

Tried their Dragon Chicken , Mixed Fried Rice , Chicken Manchurian , Veg Fried Rice and Chicken Wontons ...... Must say their quality and quantity both were excellent and so was the behaviour of the staffs ... They were so courteous and always had a smiling face ... The service was quick and the food was awesome ....

This restaurant is in old kolkata near lal bazar..you will feel an old ambiance.staffs are well behaved.it is one of the best Chinese food restaurant in reasonable prices.the food quality is very up to the mark

I tried their veg yam mein noodles and veg mushroom soup. Yam mein is 'tossed noodles' as opposed to chow mein being 'stir fried noodles'. ( Hakka noodles is called 'fung Mee mein').As a result, the noodles was less oily and had a more boiled texture. The taste was decent.

Veg mushroom soup had celery or some other ingredients that made it a beauty despite being a clear soup.

My friends had chicken volcano, prawn mein foon and mixed gravy noodles- all of which were reportedly nice.
Sourav Saha
Some of the items they have are overpriced as per the Ambience and type of restaurant this is, especially the sides.

In between a Survey for college competition a group of 5 came here for Lunch. We ordered 3 Singapore Noodles.

Quantity is Brilliant, I hope they maintain this.

Quality wise, it was pretty decent. The noodles didn't have a satisfactory amount of Chicken pieces in it. Taste wise it was not very flavourful but it does the job. Other chinese vendors, serve better at this price point, moreover this is a Non AC restaurant which can be uncomfortable in hot days. It was cloudy the day we went.
Perfect rainy day with pou hing and some quality Chinese food.

Food : 4.5/5
Very good at low price. We ordered chicken fried and hot gerlic chicken (small). Both Food quality and quantity was great. Rice was almost sufficient for two, lot for one! Chicken preparation was nice as it got nice flavour of gerlic and chilli.

Ambience : 3/5
Ordinary decoration inside, but clean and arranged. Moderate place having capacity of 50 people.

Service : 5/5
Got the food within 5-7 mins after ordering. Polite behaviour of stuff.

Not a great restaurant like environment, very ordinary kind of experience but if u r a Chinese food lover, u must go there for multiple times!
Food will satisfy your foody soul👌
This is very close to my work. Had food ordered from here to office, it was a mass order. Amazing Chinese, great price, huge quantities. Absolutely loved the opallo fish.

Being located in the vicinity of the well known Tung Nam, it must be doing something right to have kept them in the race. My first visit was not at all disappointing.

We ordered Mixed Szechuan Hakka Noodles, Pou Hing Spl Chicken. And a Mixed Hakka Noodles with Hot Garlic Sauce for take away.

The quantity at this price is humongous. One plate of noodles and a side dish sufficiently fed two with an average appetite. Generous amount of prawns and chicken were added to the noodles and the Pou Hing Spl Chicken is a must try.
The Hot Garlic Chicken was at par as well, although they could have used less tomato ketchup is what I felt. And lastly everything was just a tad more oily for my preference.

A recommended place serving highly cheap and tasty Chinese cuisines.

This place is situated at the back side of Lal Bazar, near territy Bazar area, a bit difficult to find but Google Map shows the exact location, ambience is Simple without any fancy decoration, tried chicken steamed momos, mixed fried rice and Schezwan fish, momos were below average but rice and fish were decent, but in terms of quantity it is more than satisfactory, that rise cannot be finished by one person, overall it's a decent place with satisfactory amount of food, its a must visit for the people with big stomach

If you are thinking to have some authentic Chinese delicacies, then Pou Hing is one of the best place in Kolkata. A small restaurant that still maintain their original flavour by using some special ingredients.
Whenever I get chance I do visit this place and some of the popular dishes of Pou Hing are their Steam Chicken Wantons, Dry Chilli Chicken, Drums of Heaven, Rice noodles and some other side dishes. Personally, I prefer their noodles and wantons. Regarding the price Pou Hing is very much reasonable. Always in love with this place.

An awesome place for Chinese cuisine at a really pocket friendly price. The quantity was unexpectedly much and the taste was nothing like it.
Sovangi Kundu
It was a Monday morning and we headed towards territa bazar for authentic Chinese breakfast. Due to some reasons we stayed there till lunch time and visited this place. Dying out of hunger we ordered Pan fried chicken momo, mixed meifoons ,mixed fried rice and schezwan fish (not in this pic). We had no idea about the quantity which was huge. The dishes were prepared by Chinese cooks .Everything tasted good and had a bit of authentic taste in it. We failed to finish those dishes so we packed it. Looking forward to visit again.

Nothing great to say about the Hakka Mixed Chow, Its taste is basically the same as any other restro at this Price, but one thing I can say is that they give a lot of Chicken, Egg and Prawn. Its a lot even when you divide a Single plate, so props to that.
The side dish we ordered were LEMON CHICKEN, tried it for the 1st time and I can say I enjoyed myself. The Gravey had right amount of Lemon in it. The Pieces were big and Carved. They were delicious.
Overall a Great experience, Loved It

This place is located at Tiretti Bazar in the lane which serves chinese breakfast in the wee hours, few mins walk from Central Metro station or Tea house. It serves some awesome chinese delicacies which are both Delicious and healthy.Even while having a hearthy meal here you won't feel much of a pocket pinch,as food here is reasonably priced too.Quantity is sufficient for the food which you going to have.

If someone wants to have proper Chinese then it is a must visit place. Quantity and quality very good as per price. The ambiance is very normal one but no compromise in taste.

Legendary and affordable, Pou Hing at Tiretti Bazaar is one of the few surviving original Chinese eateries of Kolkata unlike the more explored Tangra cousins. Taste...4/5 Ambience 3/5 Service is quick. Had the Hakka chow. Will explore gravy next. Ideal for the sudden hunger pangs when in Dalhousie area.

I have tasted some really good authentic Chinese food in Mumbai. So, comparing that to this may be unfair. Anyway, I will be honest. I have only tasted chicken MeiFoon. And from what I can say this place serves food that's a total bang for the buck. The taste was above average. I felt they should have incorporated more flavor to the noodles. But the quantity, man oh man the amount of chicken they added with the big heap of rice noodles is a big win-win for the both of us. The chicken was tasty, the vegetables were fresh (well, kind of) but the quality of the chili sauce could be better. All in all I won't say that I'm not satisfied. There's definitely room for improvement but what they serve and how much little they charge for that is absolutely amazing.

Taste - 3.5/5
Portion - 4.5/5
Price - 2.5/5 (Less is better)
Chandra Mittra
I ordered fish in hamei sauce. they called to say they didn't have it, if they could give another dish. they sent sweet n sour fish which was fine..but the prawn mei fun was excellent..
Trina Sikder
We ordered one chicken Hakka noodles and one hot garlic chicken (large) for two of us. The noodles are easily one the best in the city at such a cheap rate and good quality and the chicken pieces were of a sufficient size.
One of each dish was more than we could eat, the quantity is a lot and the pocket pinch was only 270 rupees. Definitely one of the hidden gems of the city.

Located in the China Town Kolkata although the ambience is not upto the mark .this place offers one of the best Chinese foods. The chicken item we order for the starter was crispy outside but the tenderness of chicken was completely unchanged and full of juices and quantity offers by the place is good compared to many other places in Kolkata . Enjoyed the food very much..

Chicken lemon corriender soup, chicken 65 is recommended. Low price. They have different combinations of chicken, fish and prawn menu. Value for money and time spend.

Located in the China Town of kolkata, this restaurant serves amazing food at very reasonable prices... The surroundings may be a bit off the mark.. however , the interiors and the authentic chineese feel that you get in the restaurant, makes up for it.. worth a visit if u love Chinese.. its one of the places i personally hang out with friends.. Try their meifoon once. One plate of meifoon is more than sufficient for 1. No matter what be his apetite..

If you are in Podder Court area near Dalhousie and you are a chinese food lover then you must try here. Authentic best chinese in city in comparatively best price. Just Wow !!

This restaurant is little hard to locate. But Google Maps and asking people around makes it easy.

We ordered
1/ Mixed Hakka noodles (4/5) : Noodles were surprisingly good compared to the price
2/ Chicken volcano (5/5) : This is the best it on their menu and most famous too. Must try.
3/ Garlic Yam mein (2/5) : Yam mein here lacks smell and flavour which we find in other Chinese eateries.

The place is rat friendly. Rat comes in and out of the restaurant.

The area outside restaurant is dirty, which makes it unpleasant. However the Food is good.
Subhra Shankha Dasgupta
Surprised to see this place having a lower rating. It's somehow a underrated restaurant in this area. Considering the quantity and quality, the item prices are very pocket friendly.
Choose any dish and it should be enough for two person to share and be tummy happy. Also considering the area it is located, the place is surprisingly clean but don't expect any fancy ambience.

Well the food here is well served, well cooked. Just the location though can be tedious to find, that's the only heckle however the food is a treat for Authentic Chinese lovers like me. I visited the place on 14th June 2018 at around lunch so i opted for a Veg Fried Rice & Chilly Chicken.I asked them to provide us with extra gravy to support us with two rice plates & the quantity was an absolute boon. Must visit from my side

Even though I had tried out this place back in December'17,I had completely forgotten to add a review about it.

I decided to try out this place located in Central Kolkata for some Chinese food after having read about the food available there.

Location: Interestingly,Pou Hing is located on the same street as the one where the famous Tiretti Bazar Market can be seen in the early hours of the day. It becomes a busy street after that during office hours.

Decor: Nothing much to speak of. One room on the ground floor. Some Oriental portraits and decorations hung from the wall.

Food: I was craving for some Gravy Chowmein and a dry accompaniment .So I ordered the Veg Gravy Chowmein and the Spring Chicken to go. Service was fast as there wasn't any customer yet. Brought the food back home and when I opened the container I found they'd given normal Veg Chowmein. Maybe a miscommunication on one's part led to this?Although the Veg Chowmein wasn't bad in itself,it lacked something to go along with it.

The Spring Chicken too was a let down. Not only could the pieces have been bigger in size, but the dish itself was nothing more than some marinated deep fried chicken(on the lines of Pakora).

Will visit this place and try out other dishes when I get an opportunity again.

This is a small Chinese restaurant at Tiretti Market area near Lalbazar, which was the original Chinatown of Calcutta City.
I could not resist rating this a 5 Star just because the quality of Chinese dishes I have there Everytime. So tasty and fresh food they serve, but still manage to keep the price absolutely pocket friendly.
It's better to take foods away, since there hardly 20 people can sit.Besides, parking cars is almost impossible,so congested the place remains all along.
They use all authentic Chinese sauces and spices.People fond of soups, must once try their Chicken Talu-Mein Soup in winters.
One of my favorites and hidden gems of Central Calcutta.

if you want to experience the authenticity of Chinese food this is the perfect place for you.very reasonable food prices.you must try mein foon over there. But if you are a person who prefer a good ambience and interior sorry this place will disappoint.

One of the best and pocket friendly place for Chinese food lovers in central Kolkata !
Loved it here ! The place is a little hard to locate, but once you are there you'd wish to have known this place earlier !!
True Voice
Taste as well as Quantity is very good. Any one dish is sufficient for a couple. One of the best Chinese cuisine in Central Kolkata. The restaurant is no that much good but still I am giving 4 star because of the food quality. But Crispy items not remain that much crispy so in some points it is not that much great but the cost what you give is value for money. Menu given in Zomato is very old so I am uploading the latest Menu as of 04/05/2018.

This small restaurant is located at a corner of Tiretti Market, once home to 20,000 ethnic Chinese Indian nationals. Having settled in Kolkata as early as the 1780s, the Chinese have historically played a major role in defining the city’s cuisine.
Though being a small shop, probably run by 3/4 persons, they serve some of the best chinese foods in that area be it for quantity or quality and at very affordable prices. All the chicken items (gravy ones) on their menu card are boneless. Hot garlic, schezwan are good options to blend with mixed fried rice. They also offer home delivery within affordable distance. Recommended to all those who are having office in Dalhousie, for office parties or any occasion.

This place does not boast of the best decor but definitely one of the best chinese in the area. Food we ordered include:
1. Pou Hing Mixed Fried Rice. 4.5/5
Extremely tasty and well cooked, full of prawn, chicken and mushroom, this item had it all. It was a delight.
2. Chicken Fried Meifoon. 4/5
Well made rice noodles topped with fried chicken, this item was good, but could be even better.
3. Mandarin Fish. 4.8/5
Best of the lot. Extremely well cooked and the fish had a subtle sweet taste with a fantastic taste. Well, Recommended.
4. Chicken in Black Bean Sauce. 4/5
Well, kinda salty, but went extremely well with rice.
Decor and Ambience would be 3.5/5
Overall a place you like to visit over and over again for cheap yet fulfilling chinese.

a quite small non ac chinese resturant which seats approx 20 ppl ...the joint is bang on the footpath ..being non ac the main door is always sort of open...decor is minimum..only thing going for this place is its good food in reasonable price...my fav joint whenever i visit ezra street to buy electrical goods...its just there..u really hv to use google map to locate it if u r not familiar...try their mixed gravy noodles and garlic chicken...

Pocket friendly great Chinese joint. found this place while surfing zomato. Authentic Chinese cuisine. must try the Szechwan fried rice. Their chrispy chicken is also awesome..
Aritra Chakrabarty
Rated 3 as overall experience. 4 for food, 2 for ambience. The chimney soup is brilliant, so are the special chicken dishes. Lovely food. The fried rice is better than a lot of fancy expensive Chinese places in Kolkata. If you are looking for just food food with average ambience, then this is the place to be.
Tenzing Sannam Chuki
Affordable and authentic Chinese joint.

Chicken chowmein - Good amount for 2 and great flavour but could require a side dish or a soup. Taste 3/5

Chicken drumstick - The dry one is better than the sauce. Taste 4/5

Chicken fried rice - Again a good amount for 2 and well cooked. Taste 4/5

Fried chicken wontons - An absolute favourite to snack on. Though the filling is less at times. Taste 4/5

Sweet corn soup - good but at times the corn stach is excessively used so it is better to alert them beforehand. Taste 3/5

Quantity is very good, taste is good and very reasonable the only dish I didn't like was crispy chicken, else everything is ok, don't expect it to be a fancy place to eat out.

Pou hing is an authentic Chinese restaurant in central behind the poddar court.. this is a pocket friendly restaurant..this is a must try Chinese outlet for the Chinese food lovers.. been their with my friends .. we ordered chicken steamed wonton, chicken hot garlic , mix fried rice and mix szechwan hakka noodles..

Food- 4.5/5.. chicken steame wonton was very salty.. i shouldn't order it.. but rest of the dishes were mouth watering & delicious too.. do visit this place for Chinese foods..

Decoration - 2.5/5.. pou hing is not well decorated..from the outside it is dirty & unhygienic.. but everything is very need and clean inside.. but they should take care on the decoration..

Service- 4/5.. there were only two staffs in the dining area.. they should employ more..service was so fast and the staff is very friendly..

Location- 5/5.. it is just 2 minutes walk from central metro gate no.5

Located in the heart of Territi Bazaar, one should visit this place if you want to taste one of the best in town Chilli Chicken. The chicken pieces are so juicy and succulent that I can keep coming back to this place over and over again for this only. Also, the prices are very reasonable.

There nothing to talk about ambience over here as there isn't any ambience at this place, normal chair tables with normal ceiling fans, that's all.

Their rest of the menu is fine-ish. But, do try their Chilli Chicken. Its one of the best I ever had.

It's a small eatery near central metro station tirretti bazar area. Pocket friendly, authentic chinese cuisine is the speciality. Decor is simple, and food is exceptionally tasty. We ordered Chicken fried rice and hot garlic chicken and it was more than enough for two person. I would love to revisit and taste more of their delicacies. Himodyuti Bardhan

We actually went to have lunch at Tung Nam which is one of my favorites but as it was closed we opted for this little food joint situated nearby. Though we were a bit skeptical before going but the experience was amazing. We had Mixed Fried Rice, mixed Noodles, Schezwan Chicken and Crispy Chicken. Each and every dish was just so so good. Price is damn cheap and service is quick. So if you wanna have some good Chinese food at reasonable price, choose this restaurant without going by it's shabby setting.

I founded out this chinese restaurant while surfing zomato with a hungry stomach. After going through the menu and the reviews , I decided to order Pou Hing Special Fried Rice and Schezwan Fish. The taste of the Fried Rice was super wow.It had almost everything including chicken, shrimps, mushroom, baby corn, egg and other veggies. The gravy of Schezwan fish had too much oil in it but tasted good.Coming to the quantity,it was actually a lot.Fried Rice can be easily shared between two persons including the fish.
I had a zomato delivery.Let me tell you, this is a cash on delivery restaurant and they don't take payment via debit card or any wallet. The annoying thing happened is there was no proper updates on the order was shown in zomato.Almost after 40 minutes it was still showing "in the kitchen" in the app.So I decided to call in the restaurant directly. After the call,to my wonder the order was out for delivery and almost close to my location. But it wasn't showing in the app.The bill was ₹325 whereas in the app it showed ₹320.I was a li'l disappointed with this technical glitch.

Ordered from them for a office party. Moon fan was good. Chicken preparations tasted good. Other type of noodles and fried rice were average.

I desperately search for new Chinese joints in Kolkata until I came across this one in Zomato. A good walk of 5 to 10 mins will take you to this place. This place is cleaner than any other Chino joints in Kolkata. Hygiene is maintained well. This place will serve you the best wantons and soups. The quantity served by them is enough for two. Am yet to try prawns and the rice there. Eagerly waiting for the next time.
Average Cost for two will be ₹400.
Tasty sumptuous food well within the range of our pockets.
I would recommend fried wantons, fried rice , ginger chicken, Manchurian chicken from here.
P.S. one plate of fried rice is quite enough for two here. 🙂
Happy eating

It was December and I felt like eating outside. But my budget was too low. Rs.300 for 2 people. Then Pou Hing came to my rescue.
The place is not very fancy and it's not a fine dining. But, the quality and quantity makes up for it. We ordered Mixed Fried Rice and Large Chilly Chicken. The rice was full of shrimps, chicken egg. The taste was good. The bill was only 290 RS. I would recommend it to anyone and if you have low budget and still u crave Chinese , then it's a must visit.
N.B.-Although located in Terreti bazaar, they don't serve pork. Avijit Mondal

Pocket Friendly and good food. Thats how i would define Poh Hing. However, if you are looking for a comfy lunch or dinner in a plush AC setting, this place is not for you. However, it offers yum food at an extremely reasonable rate if good food is all you care about in a basic non AC setting. It caters mainly to the office goers since its located conviniently in Terretti Bazar, Dalhousie. I have been there multiple times during lunch hours and my personal favs include Sweet Corn Chicken soup, Mixed Fried Rice and Dry Chilly Chicken. The Dry Chilly is highly recommended. I did not like their much hyped Drinking Chicken though, its too spicy for my palate. Serving portion is good too. One rice and side dish can easily feed two hungry souls. If you have a taste for chinese food, you can give it a shot!

The word PERFECT is clearly defined by this small eatery. If you are looking for lip smacking chinese food, do visit this place. Decoration wise, it seems to be like a mediocre college canteen. But the food offered is just awesome. No doubt pocket friendly. Must visit for college goers and chinese foodie.

A quiet and small restaurant amidst the alleys of North Calcutta. A place to get a sumptuous meal without spending much. Cleanliness and overall ambience is appreciable. Staff behaviour is good.

we wre searching for a calm and quite place on sasthi at the heart of north kolkata(college squre)and suddenly we decided to visit this place.the palce is 5min walk from central metro station.during puja it was almost empty. The decoration is not oh-so perfect type. It is exactly like the simple local restro type. But the food taste is exactly oh-so perfect. They serve authentic Chinese food with a generous amount.A single plate of rice or noodles is sufficient for two.I think students and who love Chinese should visit this place once, ignoring the decor.

After reading the reviews of this restaurant from zomato, I went to this eatery. The place to very clean and calm, though they don't have AC but that doesn't matter for me. I ordered drinking wings in the starters. The guy said it will take little more time to prepare this and I was ok with that, after 10-12 mins my order arrived. It was just amazing, the aroma and the taste was very well identified. In the main course I ordered only Pou Hing special fried rice . Let me tell you it was one of the best fried rice I have ever had, each and every component was just perfect. I need to mention here that the staffs were very well behaved. To sum up it's a pocket friendly but the best restaurant of its kind. If you are a Chinese food lover, then you should give it a try for once at least.

Near to the other legendary Chinese 'Eating House' Tung Nam in Sun Yet Sen street. The food quality is just amazing!!! Drinking Wings is a must try in this place. Makes me feel how bad KFC chicken wings are in comparison to this place. Will visit this place for sure.
MOUSUMI PODDER
Situated at tiretti bazar, near podder court. My all time favourite chinese restaurant. They serve brilliant chinese dishes. The drums of Haven is just awesome. Chopsuey is also very good. Tried almost all the items and all are mouth watering. And price are very reasonable.

Though the location of the eatery was quite tricky, but the food was beyond tasty.. we had Chicken volcano, chicken fried rice and chicken Manchurian.. the quantity of the rice was huge.. enough for 2 person..
The CHICKEN VOLCANO demands a special mention here.. it was delicious..a bit spicy, with a smokey flavour... Loved it thoroughly...
A medium sized restaurant tucked away in a corner across Poddar Court! Popular for takeaways & office orders. I love their fried wantons. I can actually have it every single day. Their chicken volcano is quite delicious actually. Their noodles are just average but the side dishes are good. Quite light on pocket & if u happen to be in a rush & AC ain't an issue, then you should definitely not miss this place if happen to be around Central metro station.

This place was in my bucket list for a long time. Finally got a chance to visit this place, located behind the Poddar court, this is surely a must try chinese outlet for all the chinese food enthusiasts.coming to the main part, the food, we ordered drinking wings, mixed fried rice and chicken manchurian. Well drinking wings is currently one of the dish I am in love with, the aroma of wine is a pure bliss for any food fanatic, it's a must try. Mixed fried rice and chicken manchurian was also good in quality. quantity was huge, enough for two people. Had a great experience, will visit again for sure.

A very pocket friendly chinese eatery at tiretta bazaar just beside the poddar court. Been there with my friends to have some good chinese. They took order & served really quick. We had mixed hakka noodles, chicken fried rice & chicken manchurian. All the items were just amazing!! & about their quantity they serve really big portions in one plate. Noodles were less oily & quiet light. Rice was really good & I love their Manchurian❤❤ they gives 8 succulent soft pieces of chicken which is just enough for two person with normal appetite. Totally loved their food & looking forward to visit again😊😊

It's located at Kolkata Momo market, Tiretti Bazar... Authentic chinese restaurant... I ordered Veg mushroom corn fried rice, Lemon Chicken and Prawn noodles...

Veg Rice was quite good.. But as a Foodie I'm not satisfied with Lemon Chicken.. lastly Noodles waa better...

Food 4/10 (5/10 for quality and quantity)
Ambience 3.5/10
Service 4.5/10

I tried chicken sanghai rice and salt and pepper fish.fish item is very tasty .it served dry just like any other starter.i relly amazed with such extra ordinary flavour at such cheap rate.fish qualiry is very good too.fresh white food with crispier outside tossed in saucy spicy flavours.love this item .sanghai rice is a big disappoinment because of its oily texture gives you road side chowmin flavour.i hardly find any rice in it.i accept the mix charm of this item but oil quantity should maintain.portion of rice is perfect for two person.as it is oily enough, impossible for one to finish.service is quick.starter items are recommended.
