Review Kalatmak - Kolkata (Calcutta)

The decor of the venue is average but the food is yummy, innovative and mouth watering. The presentation is superb. They specialize in fusion food. The portion served is less than expected. Staff is polite. Not suitable for physically challenged as it's on first floor and there is no lift.

Kalatmak Kolkata is the newest addition to the world of Molecular Gastronomy in the City of Joy! Serving elegance deliciously is what their tagline reads which they've lived upto. My first visit to this place at Alleby Road turned out to be superb one with good food, excellent hospitality, mind-blowing concept, wonderful decor & a nice ambiance. This place boasts of an accomodation capacity of 100! Yellow dim lights placed strategically on the ceiling with hanging dim chic lights surrounds the place with blue textured walls. The prime colour being yellow & green in their logo has been well reflected in the restaurant as well as one gets to see the brilliant play of colours inside the restaurant! A giant screen is located inside the dining area which serves as an additional advantage to the property as they live screen matches and also play melodious music by eminent artists & bollywood music videos! The flooring is vintage geometric symmetric which is yet again a fresh as well as an unique concept here in Kolkata. The entrance is a rectangular passage with seating options on one hand leading to the huge dining area! Coming to the food, we had opted for : Puff Pastry Tomato Soup, Molecular Chinese Nest, Mexican Papad Cornitos, SPDP, Trio Paneer Tikka, The Dimsum Platter, Bharwan Aloo & Spaghetti Alio Olio as recommended by the stuff! Yes, they serve authentic vegetarian delicacies. The Tomato Soup was something very different that we tried out. The broth was creamy with a reddish texture depicting the presence of tomato in it. The bowl was covered with puff which one has to dig and explore the soup! When consumed with the puff, the soup tastes amazing! The Molecular Chinese Nest was a cute appetizer loaded with chilli paneer inside it. Crispy from the outside & flavourful from the insde, this dish was something worth cherishing! Loved it. The Cornitos and Paneer Tikka were splendid as well with the latter being very colourful with different types of chutney served with it. When infused with chutney, the paneer tikka turned out to be spicy yet soulful! Loved the texture as well as the taste! The Dimsum Platter consisted of three different types of colourful dimsums! On enquiring, the stuff informed that they were not coloured neither preservatives were added to them, but they were cooked with real vegetables and the colour of the dimsums were authentic & real. The Spaghetti was again a hit with a fantastic taste to it. We chose Chuski Margarita and Hawaiian Colada to quench our thirst. The Chuski Margarita was heavenly with the refreshing margarita and the fizzy chuski (basically 'gola' or crushed ice lolli popsicles). The flavour that it possessed impressed me and the presentation deserves special mention! Definitely loved it. The Colada was again thick to it's consistency. It had an energising element to it. Had it with great delish. Healthy to the core, stomach filling, easy on the pocket, this place has surely left me awestruck by their quality and quantity of food! I'd definitely come back to try out some of their other offerings from their gastronomic menu! Service is quick as well. They also serve Jain food as the stuff mentioned. If you're looking for a filling lunch/dinner place with family or friends, this is the place for you to be in. Recommended.

Roughly 45 days old an opening by Mr.Ayush Agarwal , Kalatmak is true to its name ! Nice interiors and ambience with staff that pays full attention to the customers .Dining space for approx 62 pax gives u a happy experience .Worth trying and then deciding for urself.We had a pleasant experience . We ordered veg clear soup which was too clear with too little veges!! Rest all good . A little more of research will help I suppose.Prices moderate and 1 portion good enough for 2 .

Well decorated and  very impressive for a vegetarian restaurant. As you enter the place you are welcomed by a magnificent setting. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering food. Despite the high price of the food and the so attentive waiters´ service, I had a pleasant dining experience with food of the most exquisite flavours. For this reason I highly recommend.

Not to old but a decent restaurant to have great food. The entrance is difficult for senior citizens as you will have to climb a floor up to get into the restaurant. The washrooms are clean and the food is good. They serve some mouth freshner before serving food, it's nice too. The ambience is beautiful too. North Indian Food is best as per our taste buds.. And the cheese balls were also delicious

Just wow is the word for this restaurant....some of the best places in kolkata for pure vegetarians. The starters is on the slightly better side than main course but the food overall is very good. It has also good interiors :)

The environment is very good and the food is also up to the mark. It is a family type place with very good service and very professional staffs. It is located in a good location. People from all age groups visit here-Toddlers to Old ones.

Simple place with basic interiors. Food is good though they dont serve all the items mentioned on their menu card at present. In starters babycorn was good, papdi pizza and brucheta were not authentic in taste, more indianised style, paneer tikka was also so so , ( nothing to rave about) . Indian food taste was good but a little on the sweeter side. Pasta only white sauce available in jain options. Would be happy if more continental jain items are introduced.

Lip smacking Vegetarian food! From Molecular Dishes to North Indian Rotis, it's a great family restaurant. Though on a Saturday I suggest you keep 20 mins in hand as the place is jam packed!

The place is a dim lighted one & the food taste very average, all items including paneer tikka, dal makhai were very average. Would not recommend this place even for hard core vegetarians.

I had a good time with my friends, I liked the ambience, service and food too. It's a good veg restaurant. It's a lovely to go.

The staff plays a dumb role and even the manager. The tandoori naan served was absolutely burnt and the reply from the restaurant was that they cannot serve better breads than this.

We selected lunch buffet, and I must tell you that it’s highly recommendable for all the veg lovers. The starters were very good and the staff were too courteous and humble. Food was excellent along with the mouth watering dessert. Quiet affordable and amazing experience we had.<br/>

It’s a place with different food choices.. we went on a Thursday evening and it was relatively empty.. so prompt service. The fact that it’s a pure veg place makes it a little more alluring. Go with an open mind and you will be surprised with some of the signature dishes they’ve created! I’ve never had dumplings with mashed spinach in them, so that was a new experience! Worth the visit!!

I visited there for the first time today. Nothing exceptional about the place. Surely my last time as it is simply not worth the price. This is certainly not a 800 for 2 kind of place. U can expect min 1300-1400 sort of rates. & that too without an exceptional location or ambience. Also didn’t see any live sports screening as mentioned.

Rare place in Kolkata,Go ahead and try out molecular gastronomy in a more economical way.Definately one should try their papad poppers, galauti kebabs with mint foam, Italian variants etc.But they should try to maintain menu availability at all times, include more molecular options.

Untrained staff who badly needs to be groomed in hospitality. They had an unlimited buffet going on where you could choose between Indian, Italian or Mediterranean cuisine. Condition being that you are not supposed to share with others. Everything was fine till here. But I was surprised to find out that people selecting different cuisines are also not supposed to sit on the same table. For example if there are 3 people on the table and each of them select a different cuisine they will force all 3 to sit in different tables. For the first time I came across something Soo stupid and irrational where people from same group/family are asked to sit in a different table only on the basis of cuisine selected. Will never recommend.

Been to this place yesterday with my family. Had an amazing time. The food was really great. My mom who's a jain had no problem picking food of her liking. The staff is really courteous and the ambience is inviting. Overall was a really good experience I would recommend this place!

I usually don't consider to review for food delivered to home as I can't judge the service or ambiance. However, today I was taken back with surprise as I opened the box of paneer I ordered. 3 pieces of paneer for ₹200 was too overwhelming for me. This would bey first time and last time I would have ordered in this place.

The main course items we're good but the starters fin impressed at all..the green chutney with one of the potatoe items was so tangy and crispy chili baby corn din taste well as the smell of oil was too much. There was mosquito issues too in the restaurant which was irritating. The rates menu in the restaurant was different from that mentioned in the zomato app as I used gold membership and I felt that difference of rates are misguiding the customers so kindly check before going

I visited this place with my family on a Sunday. We had prebooked a table and we're there on time, on top of which we had to wait for 35-40 mins. So expect a lot of rush on Sundays. And couple of disclosures before I move on to the food, this place is smaller than expected! Somehow I different expectation hence it was surprising for me. Also they charge service charge separately but the staff was struggling to attend to all customers. On speaking to the admin, she said that since there was huge rush on Sundays, hence the struggle. Moral of story, try to visit this place on any day of the week except Sundays.<br/><br/>Now the ambience is very much family like and they have given the decor a rustic look.<br/><br/>The food overall is good, there was nothing which I had complaints about.<br/>I highly recommend their pasta! We had ordered veg mix sauce pasta, it was delicious!!<br/>Then they served spinach and cheese cigars with salsa which tasted okay.<br/>Their crispy chilli babycorn was good. Now for this dish the waiter said it was Jain( no onion, no garlic) but I could see that in the preparation. The staff should be learned and shouldn't deceive as many people take their food choices seriously. Hence a star less for the rating.<br/>For main course we ordered Malai kofta, kadhai paneer, aloo pyaza and dal makhani. All tasted good.<br/>We ordered masala kulcha and cheese naan too, out of which masala kulcha is a must try for bread lovers!<br/><br/>Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend this place.

A bit overpriced to be honest. But quality was really good! We tried the Spaghetti Aglio Alio along with Tutty Fruity Martini. Ambience was nice and soothing!

Decided to visit this place after reading the nice reviews on Zomato. The restaurant was completely empty during our visit and to be honest I was a bit disappointed .The ambience looked much different in reality than the filtered images available online and there was a bit stingy smell all around the place. We ordered Hakka Noodles and Veg Manchurian. I believe the food here is bit pricey considering the portion served but taste is good. Both our dishes tasted perfect but the quantity of noodles disappointed us. The staff were polite and courteous. Overall one can definitely give it a try.

It is a nice restaurant with good decor at the best place possible in Bhawanipur . We took Veg clear soup which is a just normal soup quantity was really less and price on a higher side . Nice place with good food...bang opposite lane of forum mall.<br/>All dishes we ordered were good especially the paw bhaji fondue and spinach cheese cigar.<br/><br/>Ambience wise place is average and needs improvement. Walls are having damp and are wearing out and drops of water falling from above.

This place is located just at opposite street from Forum Mall and five minutes away from Bhawanipur College. Dim lightings and good ambience, the place is suitable for all.<br/>The food here is delicious. Dragon Spring Rolls are a must try here. Dabeli was okayish but Classic CCBC was a huge disappointment. It tasted like Babycorn has been fried and dipped in tomato sauce, little spicy and much sweeter to be specific. Honestly, Classic CCBC had huge hopes.<br/>Staffs are well mannered and humble. <br/>KALATMAK [Zomato Gold Visit]<br/><br/>Sometimes it takes an entire meal to understand the food of the restaurant and sometimes from a single dish one can make out how the meal's going to pan out.<br/><br/>My experience in KALATMAK turned out to be of latter type.<br/>Visited this place on a Saturday Evening and ordered cheese balls, pawbhaji fondue, pasta, Sizzler<br/><br/>•Cheese Balls ~ Ek problem ho toh batau, there were multiple problems.<br/>Firstly, portion size was extremely less and cheese stuffing was little.<br/>Another thing they should know is that french fries do not go with cheese balls. I know there's no text book rule that defines what goes or doesn't go with cheese balls, but it's just not correct. Basically I think they were covering up for cheese balls by giving some fries on the side.<br/>Lastly, try throwing in Thai sweet chilli sauce or mayo as dips to be served with cheese balls.<br/><br/>•Paw bhaji ~ Nothing wrong with the taste but there was no X-factor. They simple served it in a manner cheese fondue is served.<br/>If that's the way paw bhaji fondue should be, I have no complaints.<br/><br/>•Pasta ~ Fine taste, however can work on quantity<br/><br/>•Cottage Cheese Stake sizzler ~ this dish had pan fried paneer along with roasted vegetables in red sauce along with rice. Food and taste was good. However the staff was not equipped with handling customers on a weekend. Too much rush and noise , staff was running here and there. Seemed like they saw so much crowd for the first time. <br/>

I’ve been to this place a lot. The staff and service is really good. I didn’t like my chocolate brownie, which they replaced immediately. The quantity is a bit on the lower side. But the food tastes good. Do order Chinese and Paw bhaji fondue.

A new pure vegetarian north Indian based family restaurant.<br/>Coming to the ambiance, it's full, the furniture needs repair the seats slip on the floor.<br/>The service is slow, like too slow, I had visited for a Sunday dinner, may be that's a reason for it.<br/>They surely lacked people, the same guy was serving cleaning taking orders and even went to print the bill.<br/>They even had napkins in shortage.<br/><br/>Coming to the food which was decent, all the molecular based starters weren't available. Tried a cottage cheese stake sizzler which was great and filling.<br/><br/>Tried a north Indian main course here, the benarsi stuffed alloo was good, veg jhalafrezi and malai kofta was amazing. Breads take time to come but come hot and soft.<br/><br/>This place is economical thanks to dineout pay we used at the end.<br/>

Amazing Food.<br/><br/>We ordered, risotto in pink sauce, chilly garlic noodles and cheese ciggars. All the three dishes were very good. The presentation of food was amazing.<br/><br/>Ambience is good, not that great. The main problem is that it is on the first floor without a lift.

The ambience and the location is perfect for young groups as well as the family group. The food is very good and reasonably priced. The decor is also a very beautiful one. We celebrated our friend's birthday there and we had a wonderful time! Some of our friends loved the food so much that they couldn't stop eating even while the pictures were clicked!

Visited this place today. The ambience was nice and sober. One must try the molecular chinese nest. It was really unique and tasted good. Galouti kebabs are also worth trying. They literally melt in your mouth. The staff was really courteous. Overall experience was definitely a thumbs up!❤

An awesome place...with various varieties of food and it has different taste from other restaurant yet the items were pleasing so an awesome experience.

I ordered 2 Chinese veg combo meals and the quality and the quantity both were pretty good and neither the foods are too spicy nor too sweet the combo even comes in a tray.

Wasn't a fan of the service provided. The food was alright but the service was incredibly slow and the people were way too casual. Cold breads, leaving the table mid-way while serving and not paying attention while we placed our order are one of the many things I didn't like about this place.

One of the Best Indian Cuisine I've had around town. Even the plain roti tasted so good!! The quantiy was filling and the hospitality was also great. A must visit for those looking for the rich indian experience :)

Kalatmak..it truely justifies it's name. It definitely shows the kala that the chefs possess in the presentation as well as the taste of the dishes. They have a nice continental menu..where in the pink risotto is something to try.. something different and nice. The kebabs taste amazing and the way the food is presented..you would want to savour each and every bite of it..<br/>The ambience is also nice..they screen live sports and the staff is very courteous and helpful.. so that's another plus. They serve a complimentary curd shot in the beginning which is something to look forward to..<br/>Eating here at Kalatmak was definitely an experience I enjoyed..and I definitely look forward to visiting soon again 😀.

I visited the restraunt on a Sunday. Not much crowded. We ordered Palak cheese Cigars with Salsa, Garlic Naan, Roti, Paneer pasanda, Tawa Tamancha.<br/>Palak Cheese Cigars- Arrived in exactly 2 min when we ordered, which is really wierd!! The taste was good and spicy.<br/>Tawa Tamancha- It was totally blant. The head recommended us. But totally not worth it. It was blant and had no taste. I had to return it at the end.<br/>On behalf of that, we ordered paneer pasanda which is supposed to be mid spicy and mid sweet. Aweful food..this restaurant shows 5 different items in combo and sends only 3 of them..moreover momo which I received was being directly given from refrigerator..not at all hygienic..plz avoid

Visited with family for dinner today & also had lunch here on Friday. This was my second visit in last three days .... I think, that in itself speak volumes .... place is good & the staff is friendly.... but the highlight is, as it should be, amazing food. Each n every dish that I have tried ( say about 6 appetizers & 5 mains in 2 visits), have impressed me immensely. It's like food for the soul.

Food was good and service was bit slow .Mouth freshner was very good and i like the food and it was good to see that provide jain food and thats good.

Visited this place on a Sunday . .the place did not have a.c. on and even had mosquitoes when complained no action was taken .The staff was very rude . . To place order also had to call the staff repeatedly and wen asked for a bowl for curd and dal dey denied to give saying dey dont keep bowls . . The service was poor . . Wen complained to the manager she said she doesnt know anything about this . .will not recommend or visit again . . Highly disappointed

I visited this restaurant called Kalatmak today. It is a pure vegetarian place serving multi cuisine dishes at Allenby Road. Maza nai aaya boss! 👎<br/>.<br/>.<br/>1) Stuffed tandoori potatoes - The dish was well cooked and was stuffed with mozzarella and cottage cheese. Taste was kinda bland but teaming it up with the mint sauce, onions and lemon juice did the trick. .<br/>.<br/>2) Spinach Cheese Cigars - I was kinda excited for this dish but it wasn’t great. Although I’d give full marks to presentation, but it did not impress me overall. It wasn’t cheesy and just seemed like I was eating fried crispy rolls. Stuffing was minimal. .<br/>.<br/>3) Cottage cheese sizzler - I was expecting it to be a overloaded plate but contrary to my expectations the contents in the same was kinda thrifty. Did not really enjoy it, although the taste was decent.<br/>.<br/>.<br/>All in all this is a one time kinda visit place. This place is located in very prime area of the city, very close to one of the oldest shopping mall in the city, Forum. A must visit place for all the vegetarian lovers. The place has a different yet elegant entrance.<br/>I was here yesterday with family on Grand occasion of Mother's day. They have got seating capacity of around 70 people. They also have an earmarked zone for a get-together with family and friends. A huge TV screen is a plus. The good part is, they keep it low and let's one indulge in the food and company of dear ones. Servicing amd staff behavior is friendly. Crockery are also different in look.<br/>We ordered Paneer malai kabab in starter, way it was presented just drew my all attention. In main course we had an all time favourite dal makhani , malai kofta , masala kulcha , butter naam and tandoori butter roti. Ambience is quite nice and location is also perfect.<br/>We loved food, but Kali daal was horrible.<br/>Moreover, we asked for regular water which served with un-washed glasses.

In total ordered 7 items only 2 was good rest was ok or bad..... ,half of the sitting area are like railway compartment and that too very very uncomfortable ,service?????

I ordered combo ( Hakka noodles,veg manchurian and one veg momos)...and the taste of food was very tasty 😋😋👌👍...next time when I will order Chinese Food..I will order from this KALATMAK Restaurant ☺️

To write a review about food you need to be placed at the table first. Even after booking a table when you see they have not reserved the table for you, you prefer to skip the restaurant. Thank God Cream Centre came to the rescue! Evening saved!

Located just beside cream centre, this restaurant is a paradise for vegetarians. The quality of the food was superb. For starters we ordered panner tikka, babycorn and Chinese bhel. In main course we ordered Dal Makhhni, Pindi chana, kofta and veg tawa masala.<br/><br/>Must try- Dal Makhhni, Pindi chana.<br/>Kofta wasn't good enough so would recommend not to order that.<br/><br/>

Food quality not at all good. Cheese balls were too oily that I had to leave it like that only nor was was the chaat section good at all. Only item that went good was the spring roll.<br/>Even the service was was very slow and not at all wad the staff active in anything. Didn't find the restaurant worth rating 4.1 as shown by zomato.

The food was incredibly delicious but the brownie was missing ( As I had ordered Mega Indian Combo ). There was papad instead of brownie. The restaurant must have asked once.

This new restaurant near cream center didn't disappoint me with the food although the staff and Service was not up to the mark.<br/>What a customer wants more than good food is hospitality, they go hand in hand.<br/>Hope that they improve the same.<br/><br/>Otherwise it's a decent place, no reasons not to visit:)

Nice place. Ambience is decent. Food and drinks are tasty. Zomato Gold is accepted as well. Staff is courteous. It has a giant screen showing sports. I would recommend.
