Review The Blue Poppy - Kolkata (Calcutta)

Soumalya Mukherjee
What they serve is good. I tried their classic chicken steam momo. Which is good but not up to the mark as per the price they charged. But they serve 8pcs/Plate which is good for our tummy😅 Taste: 4/5 Price: 170.00/Plate
Ankan Roy
Nice restaurant. I just loved their momo and thupka with the chutney they provided. I really loved the ambience too. Absolutely recommend from my side. If you are visiting the restaurant please dont forget to try the momo. One of the best momos of Kolkata. Highly recommend.
CA Sourabh Pal
Almost street side food stall but its quality is same as that of its mother branch at Camac street. The pricing is at par with wow momo if not lesser. The food is of good quality.I highly recommend its super spicy red chutney given with its momos,if you like spicy food.
Abhijit Ghosh
Will surprise with the shop look with the quality and taste they have, I m loving it 😃 but cost is bit high in comparison to the other shop 😞, but it's okay 👍
Rohan Chowdhary
Easily the best momos in Kolkata. My search for authentic momos in CCU finally ends after 4 years. 10x better than any momos I have had here(and I have had a LOT) Edit: editing review as last three experiences were dissapointing due to overcooked momos.
Dr.Nilotpal Sikdar
One of mine favourite place for pork dish. Pork vegetable must try. If you are love Tibetan food therefore you are in right place. Place is cosy, every stuff is very helpful. Price is reasonable and environment is nice. You spent with your loves one, family & friends. Remember after 3pm, order is not accepted, restart from 6pm.

Qotd : Momo lover? Aotd : Please try it's just amazing the sauce is spicy but it's exactly found in Darjeeling.
Mudit Sharma
The food is good and they take minimum time to parcel your take away order. A must visit for all the foodoholics!! Sitting arrangement is not there but you can have a quick bite on the run. Plus, the food is also good. But there are quiet a number of other options too if you are searching for quick bites in Lake town.
Prabha Mundhra
An amazing place and the food is out of the world they deliver or serve your food in the minimum time
Gaurav Himatsingka
Momos are too good.
pradipta majumder
Laketown blue Poppy. Best momo destination.
Suravi Mishra
Food is awesome but their service is very late. I am talking about the Blue Poppy Express in laketown.
CA Rohit Varma
I have had veg steam momo..taste of same is good and much better than WOW momo
Arjun Dey Pal
Kothay momo is great, noodles quality varies among days
souvik bose
Cost effective fooding in laketown.....have a try....decent one....take away ...

I don't think you can find veg momos any better than here.. at least that is my perception being a momo crazy fan
Wahh Kolkata
There is nothing i can complain about this place. Great food at great price. I am a huge pork lover. I have tasted all their pork dishes and nothing could disapoint me. A must visit restaurant. Thank you blue poppy thakali for your existence:')
Arpit Khanna.
Recently i had Chicken Steamed Momos there they were the best momos I've eaten in quiet a long time. They don't provide soup but the Momos were so juicy that you don't need soup with it if you are not a Soup lover.
Only problem is they don't have a dining space. If you want to takeaway this is the best place to order momos from.
Mohit Kejriwal
Ordered Crispy babycorns for delivery from this place – thanks to Swiggy, the delivery was made pretty smoothly and timely!

Packing was impressive, the babycorns were also tasty, although, a little soggy (which is understandable) and a little less saucy and a little less crispy to my liking - but overall – pretty nice!

Quantity and quality served is fine at reasonable prices – they do deserve 4 stars!

Cheers!

The Blue poppy is more a Shack than a restaurant. If you're expecting authenticity, quality and a great ambience, this us not the place. The food is quite average. Waiting time is low considering it be almost a street shop.
Srijani
We had ordered steamed chicken momo. There was 8 pieces of soft and juicy momos along with a spicy sauce. According to the price it was really satisfactory. Service was quick and packaging was good too. I would recommend this restro to give a try. Its pocket friendly with tasty food iteams served
P Sinha
Ordered and reordered chicken steam momos from here via Uber eats. Taste is awesome and the chutney is fiery. May I suggest to make the packaging more eco-friendly by replacing plastic packets with paper boxes.
Vipul Baid
I had called for home delivery. Ordered for Veg. Steam Momo, it was just mouthwatering. Loved it, same taste as before. Used to be it's outlet at salt lake, but now need to order and have it. Just hoping that it should reopen at saltlake.
Rupesh Gupta
Ordered their Vegetarian momo recently for Delivery at home.

It's one of the best momo I have had in Kolkata. Right filling, Right thickness of Cover, Cooked as it should be. Packed well in a plastic container.

I had ordered a separate momo sauce , either that was missing or it came in form a bitter chilly chutney, which was completely avoidable.

But the momo takes up all the stars.
Yash
Located at Main road, Although it doesn't has good seating place, but its food is delicious and in good quantity too.. Considering the place, it's slightly on the higher price range but if the ambience doesn't matter and only taste does, this one's Momo's and Fried rice would be perfect.
Parijat Gautam
It's one of my most favourite places to order from. The dumplings/momos taste so great. Kolkata doesn't offer this authentic taste anywhere else. I am a dumpling connoisseur. The Lake Town outlet is more of a takeaway, they do have the option of plastic chairs (on the footpath) to offer you to sit. You can go to the Sikkim House outlet in Kolkata for these authentic taste momos with the facility of sitting. Their spicy sauce for the dumplings is one of a kind. ( I saw some reviews about it being too spicy or to lower the spice a bit, but I have to disagree.) To break down the truth, those sauces are supposed to be that spicy. If someone doesn't like spice, it's unfortunate they can't enjoy the special taste. It is supposed to be very spicy. The special chillies used for these sauces have very high scoville units. That's the tradition. If you love dumplings, I would always recommend this place. It's the best dumpling place in the city!

Located At the Lake Main Road which is quiet a Busy road. A small place with no dining space except for a few chairs around.
The chefs are few Nepalese boys who can make quiet nice Chinese food.
Their Momos are one the most unique I have ever eaten though the prices are slightly high but has comparetively more in quantities. Though this place has no much popularity but I recommend to taste its MOMOS atleast once from anywhere Uou live. Moreover theirpplastic containers are much attractive and presentation is nice .

Our Choices:-

#ChickenMomos
#Chickenphalay
#Noodles
#friedRice
#GarlicSauceMomos

Their MOMOS can be given a try...Thank You
Arka Dasgupta
One of the very few outlets of Kolkata offering authenticate Chinese food. This outlet has been my preferred location for a pretty long time. The items are priced at a very reasonable rates while the quantity is well and good. As far as taste is concerned, it’s quite satisfactory. I have ordered nearly most of the items. However, I have posted pictures of Veg Fried Rice and Chilly Garlic Chicken herewith. Please feel free to try this out.
Anish Bajaj
The best ever momos i had in my life yes but its little bit costly. According to the other momo centre there filling is quiet different from others
Karan Soni (@An_AutopsicalFoodie)
This Place Doesn't Need Any Description. Blue Poppy Is Already Famous For It's Food.
I Can Just Have Their Hot Garlic Sauce With Anything And Everything. Some Next Level This They Serve.

My All Time Favourite Order :
â€ĸ Pan Fried Momo In Hot Garlic Sauce.
â€ĸ Veg Chilli Garlic Noodles.
â€ĸ Veg Schezwan Noodles.
Shritama Gupta
A good place for casual hangouts and eatings. The phalays are petty good enough while the momos are good as well but the sauce can be made a bit less spicy cause it will be a disaster for people who prefer non-spicy foods. Rest all are commendable.
Good Luck.
Souripal
The Blue Poppy of Camac Street is one of my favorites.

This outlet is just for takeaway. You can sit on the chairs laid out on the footpath.

I ordered Chicken Shyafaley, but it was not available.
I was disheartened to see the momo prices have been raised quite by much.I used to have fried chicken momos for maybe under 100 rupees. Now the veg momos start from 110rs.

I ordered veg momos which were steamed right in front of me.It was served hot along with their red hot spicy sauce, which blends just perfectly with the momos. The momos do stand out from the crowd, and the their signature red sauce is what I am in love with.I can go back a thousand times for this sauce.I have had momos from many places but no place can come close to the sauce served at this place.
Harshit Jain Malu(the_travel_tester)
Harshit there
This restaurant best is Steamed Momo and all Noddles items it's been marvelous.the mancurian and schewan noodles it's been too tasty and the one plate quantity 2 of them will eat that .

Really delicious food and amazing cozy ambiance. Blue poppy is a must try. I had heard about it a couple of times and finally got time to try . I must may it’s more then worth giving a try. It’s tasty food and pocket friendly.

Pork pan fried momo must try and Korean fried chicken. Would take it as the best Tibetan good joint in Kolkata.
Aanika Saha
A small takeaway joint located at lake town near lake town girls school. I have just tasted momo from this place and I’m not sure if I like it very much. The flavours are pretty basic. I have tasted better momos though. But if you want to grab a quick bite and there’s no momo place nearby you can go ahead and give it a try!
Prosun Ghosh
At my friend's place I came to know about the awesome taste of this place. It's very tangy and tasty. We opted for Home delivery.
Chicken kothy, pan fried in hot garlic sauce and pan fried chicken momo. Everything is so tasty and fresh. 🤘🤘🤘
Anushree Dev(hungry__tummy_)
This small joint located at laketown opposite the laketown Girls school. Not a dine in restaurant. Suggest for takeaway. Tried their momos taste was ok. Service was quick. Momo lovers give it a try.
Anirban Mandal
A polite place where people can enjoy Chinese cuisines with a reasonable price.
Portion size is sufficient for a single person what they serve.'Chilli pork'is an amazing factor which lure me to visit this place more than twice.
RAHUL CHOWDHURY
6 of us went there after a fun filled and tiring day at Aquatica! The steaming pork momos were absoluteky delicious, and lived up to their name. The noodles, rice and chilli chicken mains were served hot and tasted good. But nothing compared to the momos.

Quite good food, considering the pocket pinch. Definately recommended!

Always in Love with Their Chicken Steamed Momo. If you Love momo then you got to have it from here. Have tried their other Dishes as well. However i Love them the most. try it next time you near.
Arijit Chowdhury
Home Ordered via swiggy , Chicken kothay MoMo and Chicken steam momo.. 8 delicious pieces each is all I have to say. I am a Momo lover and enjoyed it...
Tamalika Mukherjee
This joint is located in the Lake Town main road, opposite the Lake Town Girls' school. There is no dine-in facility here, except for a few chairs outside the kiosk. Went to this place last Sunday for a quick takeaway and ordered chicken steam momos and chicken phalay. The momos were good- priced at Rs 120 per plate, with 8 pieces/plate. Was trying the phalay for the first time, it tasted okay, more of a stuffed paratha with the same filling as that of chicken momo. They also have other Tibetan and Chinese dishes. Overall a good place.
Sinful Foodie
This place is one of my favourite when it comes to tibetan cuisine. I used to have it earlier in the outlet opposite to CC1, so recently tried this outlet in lake town, its a small outlet with 3 4 chaira outside the stall and basically convinient for a takeaway or so.
Coming to the food taste is as usual the same delicious, but their price is little expensive for the quality of momos served.
The filling of the momo was little disappointing.
Anchal Khaitan
Blue Poppy is one of my most favourite restaurant in Kolkata and after being re-opened in Lake Town my joy was outbound. But this is my second bad experience with this outlet. Yesterday I ordered one hakka chow from Swiggy. It didn’t even have salt. Just plain noodles not even sautÊed properly. No proper veggies. Extremely disappointing. They didn’t even provide a fork with it!
I don’t expect this from Blue Poppy, which is amongst my favourite restaurant list!
Anishu Maroti
Love this place.
Very quick and humble service
Friendly staff
Love the hot garlic momos
Can work more on the sitting arrangements..
Over all worth the money! 💛
Shreya Dutta
The place is on the main road of LakeTown. Tried their momo's twice and they were okay, nothing exceptional though, considering the quality and taste it is overpriced. My review is based only on momo's.
They have some laid chairs in front, but the spicy dip they serve with the momo's are definetly the best ones I have ever had.
Rajasee
We had a plate of 8 momos @ 110 and it was succulent and bursting with flavours. Hope to come back soon. It's just a small takeaway joint with some plastic chairs in front.
Roshan Joshi
It's not a dine in place but a small kiosk sort of place. It is located in Laketown but serves amazing Momo's just like there Sikkim House outlet.
Suprovo Saha
The outlet is located in Lake Town. I had
Steam Chicken Momo
Chicken Manchurian
Hakka Chowmein. All were good. Momo lovers will be pleased to visit it in Lake Town.
ARbind Sureka
The Best Momo one can have in the whole of Kolkata. I can bet my money on it. They are priced at 110/- a plate for Veg Momo which is a bit too high for a take away. But the quality and taste makes ur tongue 👅 water.
Samadrita Mondal
It is very unfortunate for me that i am not able to review this place. I waited long to taste chineese from this place but Alas!!!!!! The day i managed to pay a visit to the place, found it permanently closed. Still i am very surprised to find out how come such a joint at a posh area like lake town can get shut down!!!
Aishvarya Arora
PROs:
No one makes Momos better than these people. The Chutney they serve along is something worth dying for. The Noodles, the Thupka, the Kothay and the Masala Omelette. All these are so satiating and salivating that it would fetch the joint a full 5 on 5 rating! The people who serve in there are really warm and cordial.
CONs:
There is no such ambience. Chairs are laid on the footpath or we can go for a take away option. For the price they charge for a plate of steamed momo, coupled with the place we sit and eat in, it seems a little too much.

So all in all, a really nice food experience but a little too pricey!
Devyani Narayan
So this place maybe known by all or no one. But I'm here to praise this place :)
So I had chicken garlic pan fried momo, which seriously was just AMAZING. Better than most places. Pls do try this. I also had crispy baby corn, which was also good :)
Eshna Bhattacharya
Not tried many of their food items but their Chicken Shapta is awesome. If you like ur Chinese a bit spicy then this item is surely one that you need to taste.
Shruti Kheria
Chilli garlic noodles was just wow..I had one of the most perfect chilli garlic noodles..laketown branch is the one I ordered from..must try for all the chinese lovers
Akshita Chamaria
Blue poppy middleton street outlet is the best. This small takeaway joint in laketown is dirty. Food does not seem hygienic. They serve good momos but thats it. Other items are bad. Thukpa is taste less. Not only that...they do delivery as well and horrible packaging. Thukpa is served in squarish plastic containers which started leaking and it became difficult to have it. It spoiled my belongings apart from.sooiling my mood. Soups should be served in proper containers with height.
Very disappointing.
Sauce servwd with momo was also not good. Was watery.
Arka Kumar Sen
In Lake town, and in the mood for authentic chinese and that too on a budget. This is the place for you. Close to the VIP road exit of Lake town, this place is one you should go to for your Chinese Cravings.

No seating arrangements mean it's better suited for takeaways, I had ordered in from this place. I tried their Chili Garlic Mixed Noodles nd their Hot Garlic Chicken Dry. Both the dishes are superb and finger licking good. Quantity is super generous and it doesn't burn a hole in your pocket.

Kudos to this place. Keep up the good work guys.

The Blue Poppy is gaining quite a popularity among Momo lovers. This outlet is located at Lake Town.

Ambience is ok.

Service is quick.

Tried Veg momo & Chilli Garlic Noodles. Momo was tasty and succulent with good stuffings and sauce provided with it was spicy & lip smacking. Noodles was nicely made and was yummy too.

Pocket pinch is bit high.
Sreya Bagaria
This joint is really close to my place and perfect for ordering Chinese food .
Their chilli garlic noodles and sweet and sour vegetables are amAzing 😉
You can order and enjoy delicious Chinese food â˜ēī¸

Momos r great
Chowmein not atol good
Only for momos i can visit here again
Pocket friendly totally
Quantity is superb
Overall not a bad experience
Rahul Mukerji
I like this joint. Primarily because the food is served hot. It is not artificial like its nearest competitor "Yak Momo"....sorry i mean "wow momo" (totally intentional). If you observe the picture I have taken you can see the sauce which is the jaan of the momo. This joint's sauce has the zest in it becauss of actual spices which makes it special. The Wow momo sauce will leave a red print on our hands and stomach because of artificial flavours used in them...The momo served at blue poppy is also succulent...this is because the cook is from Siliguri and knows what he is doing. However, points are deducted because they are not serving soup which should be there at the price they are selling. Points are also deducted for cleanseness of the store which is shabby like any roadside outlet. Overall I will definitely visit the outlet again with friends and have a nice adda!!
Paridhi
I went with my family and ate veg momo in this outlet. it was very nice and I would come again. The sauce was little spicy but yummy. Service was fast.
Madhurima Kumar
I'd heard that blue poppy served delicious momos. However I was quite disappointed. The prices are comparable to wow momo which has its own outlet nearby and the food quality is much below them. Apart from the fried chicken momo we had ordered thukpa . It was not at all tasty...I've had thukpa at Momore as well as wow momo. Both are way better. Consequently I will never visit this outlet again.
Satwik
Just plain bad. I mean, Blue Poppy was never associated with wonderful momos, even though I'll admit the Salt Lake outlet is way better than this. And now that Lake Town has Wow Momo, you have no reason to even look at Blue Poppy. I wish it would close down and there would be something like an Ecstasea outlet here instead.
Vishal Patodia
Blue Poppy has an days been the heartthrob of Tibetan cuisine for me. I always longed to have an outlet near my house, and finally it was here. The food was as usual great, the signature Sikkim House Taste. A must try for everyone who loves Tibetan food
Arnav Ganeriwal
I love the momo of this place its awesome to have there veg momos and soup(thupka) they make it really nice and price for momos is not too much as compared to quality.. go and get your momos guys...
Anirban Mandal
This outlet is pretty near to my home and basically is a take away point with some scattered red plastic stools over the footpath. Dosent at all do justice with the Brand name. Im a fan of The Blue Poppy Russel street branch. But would never ever vist this particular outlet again. Most of the times the Chicken MOMO is out of stock, only Veg available. The size of the Momo s i ordered were pretty thin and was not of good quality too.
Sayantan Paul
Well they might share the same name as the one is salt lake but the food isn't of the same quality. I had their momos and was terribly disappointed. They were a little hard, the stuffing need more meat and spices and te momos were not at all juicy.
Pratik Ghosh
The Blue Poppy in lake town is their 4th branch , and by far the least impressive.
The place is small, not very clean and filled with flies.
The staff is fine, probably a bit slow.
Coming to the food, their momos are just awesome, but their chinese menu needs improvement. It was unseasoned and way to bland to be called chinese. The quantities are okay and so is the pricing.

Chinese here is not recommended, but not to be missed if you are looking for good tasty tibetan and nepali food to take home.
Bruce Roy
Went to this place as I had tried their other two outlets and they were awesome. But this time I was rely disappointed with their serving. 1st of all they made us a long time, but that is a thing they are habituated with but the food was not to the mark.We had Pan fried chicken momo & Chicken Thukpa, momo was although ok, but the Thukpa was just plain simple warm water with only veggies and some chicken portion, with no seasoning.so it was rely a waste of time & money. So my suggestion would be just try their momo if you are rely interested on trying it.
Eshita
Small joint for warm fuzzy tibetian - chinese food. Have been there few times for takeaway. They prepare some awesome momo , specially the panfried in garlic sauce , the chilly garlic noodles and pepper chicken are my favorite. But go there only if you can ignore the horrendous service. They had kept me waiting for 33minutes exactly for a plate of chicken momo.
M N Anand Babu
Blue Poppy - Poppy highness - you get injected with the drug called Tibeto-Chinese! Tibetian Momos, Prawn Menstetse, Pork Fry Dry, Steamed Rice with Pork Curry! Pork Connoisseurs = The Blue Poppy! Crispy Wontons - Gundruk/Kinema (pinch of Nepali) - Chilly Pork ! Missed the Bhutanese Ema Dasi and Q Dasi! Perfect food arena with loads of fight between the tongue and stomach!
Ananya Ray Chaudhuri
Went to this place for a quickevening bite and returned quite full. :D
1.Ambiance - This is a road side take away joint. Though there are some plastic chairs placed in front to seat and grab.
2.Hospitality - The staffs were helpful, they helped us to arrange our chairs, keep our luggaages and even drove away the stray dogs
3.Food : We had ordered the following:
a.Chicken Shapta - This was large chunks of chicken in somewhat sweet but spicy red sauce. It was served hot and was very tasty
b.Chicken Garlic Noodles - Huge quantity of the noodles were served. It was average in taste with large chunks of chicken.
Amrita Ganguly
A chair is a chair and a chair is a table too. At least the food is great to ignore this major shortcoming. Pork menu is a 'filler' there. You'll hardly EVER get pork.
Chhandak Chakraborty
The blue poppy - a typical chinese food centre which has extended their branches from russel street, salt lake and now in lake town. I am not sure about whether the other outlets have sitting capacity or not, but this branch at lake town doesn't have any. You need to order your food, and wait outside enjoying the famous mosquitoes of dumdum and laketown humming and biting. They have placed few plastic chairs on the footpath beside the store however, that doesn't fulfill ur requirement. Nevermind, we concentrated on the food which was steamed momo and a half chicken chowmin - the taste, if not flamboyant, was better..at least i felt it was better than wow momo. Overall, an ok place for hangout and takeaway.
Tulika Sharma
Spicy spicy spicy sauce... And good momos.... The fried momos are tasty so are the steam ones.. Nice nice.. Small little place with outside seating arrangements.
Rai
Firstly I must say that price is little high being a road side stall without dine-in. For one plate chicken momo it costed ₹100. The taste is good. If you want to have momo as your evening so it is good option.
Joydeep Sen
The momos taste okay although they should upgrade to pork as well. Chilli Pork should be added in the menu too. And, MOST IMPORTANT, this being just a roadside stall and not a restaurant, the price of the momos should not be 100/plate.
Ankit Bhattacharyya
Now this is an interesting place. Talk about trying to fill a gigantic pair of shoes. Blue Poppy that does not serve Pork! I know it doesn't make any sense what so ever. The momos are the average run down rubbish you get anywhere between Chennai and Ahmedabad, ya you read it right. The Dallè chutney is something else, that is if you can handle the heat. All in all its a forgettable experience at its best.
Anikendu Ghosh
Momos are decent, nothing noteworthy. Kotheys are something that I would suggest not to order. They should upgrade to pork. Apparently, they do not serve soup with the steamed momos.
Tanmoy Adhikari
100 rupees for 10 momos. They should stop their business really.
This is the minimum rating i could give. You would get better, tasty momos for less money.
Not worth 100
Gunjan Kayal
Street side food corner! Momos are just amazing. You should surely try veg manchurian. It's delectable.
You can opt for hakka noodles with manchurian.
Amazing food.. you would surely love it. Reasonable and pocket friendly! A good place to hang out with. :)
Gourov Dhar
A Chinese delight with delectable flavours and vibrant spices. A cranny amidst the Gorkha Bhavan but best hangout for students. Foods are specialised for spices with pork and chicken as delights. Main courses are ordinary but side add-ons are mouth-watering stuff. Momos have a reputation with the hot chilli paste provided, makes it a spicy charm. Perfect for students for its low rates.
Go grab a plate with an urge of spicy delight and you won't regret!
Atreyee Biswas
This joint is such a disgrace to the name of Blue Poppy! I am a big fan of Blue Poppy's momo and thukpa and phaley and kothay and what not.. but this joint disappointed us every day!

The first sight of this joint opening in my neighborhood made us so happy that we ordered 4 plates in total of chicken steamed momo and kothay and decided to have them as that day's dinner. But it shocked us in the first bite itself! The kothay was very oily to the extent that it even smelled of oil.. the steamed momos barely contained any chicken filling.. and the USP of Blue Poppy, the sauce, was another disappointment. It was of dark orange color, tasted strange smelling strongly of some chemical. We immediately discarded the sauce. Also we could not finish off the momo and kothays.

The next day we expressed our concern to the waiters. We were still under an image that might be they were having amateur cooks and that resulted in the disaster. They responded in an apologetic manner and promised to cook better meal afterwards. Momo being one of my weakest points, I was ready to give them a benefit of doubt and ordered a second time from them. This time added a Chicken Hakka Noodles as well.

The noodles was utterly disappointing. It was no more than that available at a street side joint, just doubly priced. The momo and kothay followed the same lines.

Another day we called them over phone and asked them to keep 1 plate each of chicken steamed momo and kothay as we were in hurry. We reached there 35mins after ordering and they started putting the momos on steam just after seeing us. We obviously did not have the time to spare till the momos get steamed and fried afterwards.

They are just NOT at par with the name of Blue Poppy.. both service and quality wise... Never going back!
Sarthak Banerjee
Don't at all mistake it with the original blue poppy. Its just a mere shadow of the original one. The quality of the food is not good. Its better to avoid this one unless your taste buds are compromised :P
Soham Ghosh
For the average food enthusiast, trying out a new place is very much like opening a birthday present. Blue Poppy, at least this one in Lake Town, isn't the greatest food experience. There isn't an option to sit and eat, which doesn't exactly help the hungry man's cause. You could take the food and sit on one of the chairs outside - but I would not recommend that.
Anyway, the food itself is average, the rice, the noodles and the sides make for a decent meal. The quantity is their biggest strength, that and the low pricing. Blue poppy manages to shell out good portions of everything within a tight budget of say 250 rupees.
There isn't much more to say about the restaurant, except that it does manage to satisfy. Like its sister outlet in Salt Lake, this one also boasts a big menu. If you're planning on visiting The Blue Poppy, I would recommend the one in Salt Lake - massive fan of that place.
Thanks for reading, and pardon me for any grammatical errors I may have made. :)
Mayukh Sengupta
I am willing to say that for a Bengali guy like me I always look forward to taste the different types of food around the town. Blue poppy is remarkable. I would say go for it and at least taste the pan-fried chicken momo which is my favorite and the rest is up to you. You won't Visit the place for the last time that is my guarantee , you will show up in no time. The cook is brilliant, I donno what they use but whatever is the secret, it keeps calling me back like always.

The accommodation is not so good like wise its a street corner food outlet. They have chairs at least you can sit with your friends, chitchat and taste the delicious food.
Well price is not so high at all.
The staffs and their behavior is nice.
Go for it..
And give a review..
Stay tuned..
Nilanjan N
Now blue poppy has opened in lake town, my neighborhood. That's a good news. I don't need to trudge all the way to Sikkim House in Salt lake... But Here in Lake town I sorely miss the original Pork Momos. I request them to put this on their list at the earliest. As usual the taste is a little above average.

I found this outlet of The Blue Poppy serving momos even more tastier than the restaurant in Russell Street, especially the Steamed Momos. I had Veg Steamed and Pan Fried momos in hot garlic sauce and both of them were tasty. Even though it is very small, and there's no dine-in, there is a big variety of items available compared to the size of the outlet. They even have an option of serving half plates, so you can try a variety, or just have half a plate as a snack, if alone !
The menu does not have the Wanton Soup, which is one of my favourites at the Blue Poppy ! The staff is very polite and happy to serve !

The worst Chinese food I have had in ages XD , These guys have no idea how bad they cook. Nowhere close to the actual blue poppy ( salt lake ) , never buy anything from here its better to eat your money ???? than eat here .

this is pathetic...not at all the blue poppy standards..!!
Steam veg MOMO was too oily, the filling was pathetic, the person was even ill-mannered to talk to...and the price was not worth it at all

Its a shame in name of The Blue Poppy... Selling Puri Bhaji aswell !!!
I dont know if they are a genuine outlet of the original Blue Poppy. If it is, the management should immediately close down the shop as it is debranding the original one.

1. They dont offer Pork items. Blue Poppy is specialised in Pork Momo.
2. They are not selling Thukpa, the most coveted item at the Salt Lake outlet.
3. The food is blunt and tasteless- we ordered mixed chowmein.
4. I thought the Chicken was not fresh.
5. In competitive price for Lake Town- across the lane is age old Wingwah selling authentic original chinese food at a cheaper price.

I am utterly disappointed with this outlet of Blue Poppy.. Wud have rated them 1, had they not carried the gold memoir I have with the Salt Lake outlet. I have rated Salt Lake outlet handsomely in ZOMATO itself.

Just like any other blue poppy, this one is also bent to maintaining the flavour of their famous Tibetan Chinese. I was quite delighted to have a blue poppy joint in my own neighbourhood given the huge fan that I am of their shaptas and momos. I have tried out the chicken phalay and the chicken steamed momos from this joint and I spotted no difference in taste, it was so good. The only let down I feel is that they do not have a seating arrangement like the other blue poppy joints and they also do not serve pork. Given that I am not a pork fan, it isn't as disappointing as it will be for pork lovers.

This place has the best momos you can get! I have tried out momos almost everywhere in town! But Blue Poppy is the best! The spicy sauce that they give with the momos is red hot and will burn your tongue but thats the best part about their momos!
I wish they could start home delivery soon so that I could enjoy the delicious momos back at home even!

My Very first visit to Blue Poppy.. food from Tibet, Bhutan and Nepal. Check out Chicken Meifoon Soup, be ready for a generous dose of cheese and more. Fell in love with the Momos that very day...the menu had quite a few authentic options. This is the place where I was awestruck that the Pepper Chicken has authentic taste of paper or the Honey chicken has the lingering sweetness of Honey. There is also a very nice Nepali thali. Crowded for lunch hence prepare to wait a while. The prices are reasonable and the decor minimalistic.
