One of a kind place to unwind with great food, nice ambience, polite service, and unique location on a refurbished barge moored on the Ganges, minutes away from the central business district. The outdoor seating area is awesome, with cool river breeze and a breathtaking view of the river for company. Quality of food is top notch, serving one of the best mezze platter in the city. However, cocktail presentations, though creative, somehow miss the mark of leaving a lingering aftertaste and yearning for one serving more. And yah, the place has one of the cleanest and best maintained washrooms, an oft ignored but a very important consideration for a place worth a repeat visit. Kudos.

The Anchorage Bar at Floatel is an absolute gem! The restaurant's scenic location on the water creates a unique and relaxing atmosphere. The delightful menu boasts a wide array of scrumptious dishes that cater to every palate. The attentive staff and prompt service add to the overall experience. Whether you're enjoying a romantic dinner or catching up with friends, The Anchorage Bar guarantees a memorable and enjoyable dining experience. Don't miss the chance to savor their delectable offerings while basking in the stunning waterfront views. Highly recommended!

The floating hotel. One needs to cross a railway line to enter the lobby and then go to the ship which is permanently anchored and has the rooms. Since space is at premium the room size is very small but is generally comfortable. You can see Hooghly touching your rooms and we had a view of both the Howrah Bridge and the Vidyasagar bridge from our window. The steamers keep passing by on their ride and you suddenly realize strangers peeping into your room through the window - it is that close. They had an amazing collection of tea Darjeeling supplied from Dolly Tea and I had to ask for refills of tea sachets.

Good ambience with a view of the river and Howrah bridge and the illuminated city. Food is expensive.

When searching a suitable place to arrange a family get together and banquet on 27th November 2021, to celebrate my son’s marriage, Polo Floatel fascinated me most by its convenient location and unique identity of being a hotel on a barge, floating on the Kolkata’s ancient lifeline, Ganga.
My guests were just a select hundred in number and so, from among five options Polo Floatel offered me, I hired their “Compass hall & deck”, about 2500 sq ft combination of half AC hall and half open deck which matched my requirement best.
The occasion created a lasting impression among my guests. The ambience of the place was unparallel. Sales Executive Miss. Sayanti Das coordinated the whole program, starting from the introductory talks at the front desk a month ahead, through finalizing the menu by conferencing with Cheff Mr. Sujan, upto personally supervising the event till 10 pm on the date of the occasion, by teaming up with Mr. Sabbir, the highly efficient in-charge of the venue. No word of praise can match their service.
Ours was a traditional Bengali family event and the full course dinner, comprising 23 items from welcome drink to desserts, charmingly harmonized with the taste of my guests. Qudos to Cheff Mr. Sujan.

The ambience was just superb. We sat outside on the open air deck. The evening Ganges, the setting sun and the background music, all made the evening perfect.

The Bar at Floatel Hotel, which is one of the unique in it's kind eco friendly hotel, located in between the river Hoogly waters, opposite to the Local Head Office of State Bank of India, next to the Millennium Park on the prestigious Strand Road, Kolkata.
The hotel offers, Sunset and Sunrise rooms. the Sunset rooms are located on the river side and you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Hoogly river from the room. The rooms are not compact but provides you a unique experience. Staff is courteous and professional. But hotel needs to work more for overall cleanliness and service response time.
Restaurant serves quality and tasty food and provides a option for dine in with beautiful River view.

Got one star only for the view... Food was horrible... Served what tasted like stale chicken and most of the veg. Starters were not available !! The cost of food is bit expensive considering the quality bcoz only the view cannot decide the price....

Okay so the environment was good and maybe this is the only reason its getting two stars.
Coming to food it was a horrible experience
Starters was a tandoori assorted fish and chicken platter which was so so but lacked flavours and mostly burnt
The mains which took like an hour to serve came and my god the naans were burnt, chicken in punjabi style gravy seemed to be like chicken butter masala and nothing what the name stated. As we were a lot of people we tried the bhetki fish which was also seeming to taste as if like a home made fish and nothing fancy. And the DAAL MAKHNI my GOD, it was burnt and tasted very very dull. It was burnt and Was it really a Dal Makhni?
Oh the lime soda was okay.

Nice decor. Beautifully lit. You'll love the place. The food was not upto the mark. Not worth the money they charge. This need to be improved.

Only visited once. U visit it for the location as U can see the flowing Ganges from the window. The place was little deserted with only one waiter to serve.
I went for a non alcoholic beverage which was so so. Service was fast. Cost is little high.

Super costly place as per the quantity I must say. Plus point is the location. . Undoubtedly one of the best place I have been to. Prawns chilly was good and so were extra friendly staff. .

The weight of the name of this place is mightier than the food or service (kinda hoped it to be the other way around). Food is nothing to gloat about except for the Smoked Chicken Tart which is out of this world and the only 'chef's recommended' dish that I will ever have in any restaurant. Although a very costly affair, you will love the view which is incredible, maybe for the fact that it's below the ship and you see the Ganges hitting against the glass walls.

This place symbolises Kolkata. Its stuck in the past while competition has moved on but has an ego which makes it morbidly resistant to change. Go for the view from the deck and NOTHING else. Strictly for one-time visit only.
Anomitra Dey
It's one of its kind... Should be experienced ones... Coolest place for destination wedding within in the destination.... The food was is subtle and excites your taste buds. Mesmerizing experience
Gaurav Wankhede
Don't bother about food or service, just go for the view. The food is not bad, but terrible... Never ever coming back here... The buffet is perhaps the worse in Kolkata

We visited Floatel on last day of durga pooja ( visarjan ). We have heard abt this hotel and its view since long back . Here are few things I would like to share:-
1. FOOD : Food options were very very less.Only 2 paged menu card they have provided in which veg and non veg dishes were not seperated and also not marked with red or green signs. We have ordered dal makhni and 1 paneer dish. Both dishes were too sweet to eat. Thats why food experience was very bad.
2. VIEW : As far as view from Floatel is concerned,
deck view is very nice. As we went in the month of october the atmosphere was highly humid so we prefered to seat inside. There is no provision of sitting close to deck in AC.
3. Service: I can say the service was not up to the mark in comparison with other equally expensive restaurents. Staff behaviour was not professional.
We complained about our experience to one of the senior staff, he apologised and said because of pooja time, we have limited menu.
People like us come to kolkata for pooja. From restaurents like Floatel which one of the leading name in hospitality industry this is not expected.

We visited this place some 4 months back. Their menu is short and sweet.Well chosen menu dishes prepared with perfections.
Wine menu is similarly not so elaborate but very well chosen.

We tried some cocktails, and white wine. Both were good. Cocktail was balanced and well made,

We ordered for some finger foods. All fish based dishes were really good and the fish was very fresh.

The USP of this restro-bar is its ambiance, which is to die for. Very calm and peaceful place floating in the river. Crowd was good and was not too crowded. Have to mention the helpful and courteous staff. Its a must try in Calcutta.
