Review The Saffron Tree - Kolkata (Calcutta)

J Dasgupta
Whether you're seeking a delightful meal or a pleasant dining environment, The Saffron Tree is a standout choice that promises both quality cuisine and a charming setting. However, it's worth noting that the portion sizes seem a bit modest considering the price. While the quality is commendable, a balance in quantity could enhance the overall value for diners.

I had a great time with my friends here at Saffron Tree. The wait time was decent and not very long. Each of the dishes tasted delicious and lip smacking. The mughlai dishes were incredibly good and I would visit again. I will definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Incredible food menu, delicious taste made this restaurant unique. This fine dine restaurant was my visit list and after visiting it is now favorite list. Ambiance was nice and staff were cordial. You can order hard drinks or cocktail in nominal rate with limited stock but food is bit of high price. You will find some fusion must try items. You can ask them for detail. We had ordered Crab meat ki galawat, Mutton sutli kebab, Kataifi achari prawn, TST special pork biryani, camino driver. All items were unique and tasty. Must visit place.

I visited last durga puja even at that time The food quality was excellent. Yes the waiting time was high but I can understand the pressure of the high order. I deducted 1 star from service only due to the person who was handling the sitting arrangement. He was rude and unprofessional. That can be improved or switched with some other person. Who can Handel and talk more professionally.

I went there to celebrate my birthday. Had ordered two cocktails, two starters, one chicken side dish, one bread, one lucknowi biriyani. The food was delectable and had unique taste...loved the starters and the side dish. The biriyani was slightly salty but well cooked, flavourful and all the non veg items were very well marinated and cooked. The ambiance was fresh and vibrant more of a family restaurant type. From user perspective, i wasnt quite comfortable witg the use of cutlery. The spoon was a little bit curvier and there wasnt any chisel. I wish the plates were white and full plates...they served in yellow half plates even the main course. Other than that i think its a place one can give a try!!!

We visited on one weekend. And undoubtedly it is one of the best we have come across for a long time. From the taste of the food to the ambience of the place is perfect for us. There are good options for Alcohols also (Whiskey, Wine, Vodka, Beer etc..). I think the nearest Metro Station is either Kalighat or Rabindra Sarobar and it is close to Lake Mall also. We will most definitely visit again very soon. 👍🏻

We went on a weekend. Did order J.M.B.C,Zatar Spice murg reshmi kabab, Baled alaska murg sandha kabab, Matarban ki murg ,Lucknow and Hyderabadi dum biriyani along with Qorma murg aur bacon ki lasagana. All the dishes were very tasty except Hyderabadi biriyani. I personally felt it blunt though the Lucknow biriyani was yum.

Ambience is nice. Food presentation is also quite interesting. Food quality and taste is at par with any 3-4 star restaurant. Budget friendly despite serving drinks. All in all this restaurant checks many plus points for visiting this place with friends and family if anyone looking to have a merry time. A special mention to their fast and prompt service. Good job team Saffron Tree.

Incredible taste and quality of food. We ordered lucknow dum biriyani and Porkzilla paratha pizza. Both were extremely delicious. Loved it.❤ Must Visit.

Ordered 3 items there. Machli aam kabab was the show stopper. Mutton biriyani was not so exciting, tasted good but disappointed with mutton size. Garlic naan and chicken recipe was normal

The ambience was so good, I really loved that. I went there during pujo time so the service was bit slow and we have to wait a bit longer. Otherwise the food was also great but a bit costly.

It's a very good restaurant, with classic ambience .. their food quality is just insane .. their paratha pizza pork zilla was ahh awesome...and Lucknow dum biryani was too good also ... As per information They also have alcohol and hookah.. Must visit there with your lovable ones

Food quality is very good for this food chain. Service is good, but for heavy rush they tumble a bit. Some foods have deteriorated in quality tho. Still, my 3rd visit there, and some dishes r the specific reasons for that. Among them machli aam, khameri roti, nimish dessert(tried first tym, felt good).
Souvik Datta
One of the best restaurants to serve continental and fusion dishes.. but the mughlai dishes are not upto the mark.. the drinks available were not that extraordinary.. the atmosphere and the ambiance was great.. but too much pricey for the food quantity they served..

Always had this amazing restaurant in my bucket list and finally, it got ticked off for good when two of my friends hosted an amazing dinner party.<br/><br/>As I'm a fan of kebabs( and they are too), hence we started off with---<br/><br/>1. Mutton Sutli kebab<br/>2. Orange and Tomato Sundried Murg Tikka <br/>3. Malai Murg ka Gillori<br/><br/>accompanied with JD cocktail and mocktails.<br/>Trust me, the haute kebabs are the must tried ones!<br/><br/>In our main course, we ordered Lachcha Paratha and Nizami Murg which was pretty good. Although, I feel the quality of the main course dishes can be slightly improved. The overall impact was good enough for us to not leave desserts( rather sinnerts :p).<br/><br/>Hence, Phirni Creme Bulle helped us conclude the evening. <br/><br/>The service, overall ambience inside- out and the entire experience was quite remarkable.<br/><br/>Definitely recommended to people who are die-hard Mughlai and North Indian cuisine fans!! ( Beware , please avoid the biryanis and sizzlers...) <br/><br/>Pocket Pinch- Please go once and you won't need to know this ;)
ROY
Ambience and staff behaviour is good. We ordered 2 plates lucknowi dum biriyani which was not satisfactory, oil was dripping from the biriyani and they gave the chicken from another gravy, 3 masala kulchas which were not tender had to bite them off, 1 plate lahori murg khurchan which was quite good in taste, 1 mutton bhuna whose gravy tasted same as the chicken, but the starter which was mango chicken was really good and quite delicious. The price was high with respect to the food quality and quantity. Overall experience was good but could have been better. All of you if you are thinking to opt mughlai dish i would suggest not to go in here. There are better pocket friendly restaurants which are also better in food quality and quantity. I would give this restaurant a 2 star but because of that mango chicken abd staff behaviour im giving it an extra star

The Saffron Tree, Southern Avenue, Kolkata is a good place to spend time. Here you can get good quality food with nice atmosphere. But the price is little high with the comparison to the quantity. But the staff behavior and environment can compensate it.

The Saffron Tree, having situated in the Southern Avenue, is a cozy place with a beautiful ambiance. The behaviours of the staffs are pretty good. We can spend a quality time over there. The food quality and tastes are awesome. A little bit pricy, but the ambiance make it worthy.<br/><br/>Overall the experience is good.<br/><br/>#thesaffrontree

The interior decoration of this place is awesome. Their food taste is also amazing. But the price is very high. And the quantity is not upto the mark. Please take a look of this . Otherwise it is good enough.

A classy place with fine dining experience..this place is worth many revisits..the staff is courteous and the ambience oozes out a positive vibtant aura..<br/><br/>Started off with macchli aur aam ke papad..one of the best fish kebabs i had ever.. smooth creamy coat with the juicy fish inside..u get a tangy flavour from the mango..and immediately the fish takes over..awesome..<br/><br/>J.M.B.C a dish to die for..succulent juicy protein seared on a sizzler plate..decorated with a cabbage leaf..the aroma is breathtaking..the sizzling cream just maked u drool and crave for more..<br/><br/>We had garlic naan which was pretty decent and a perfect balance of garlic and spices on them..<br/>Chaman ki gosht is an indelible mutton curry which i tasted here..the meat is soft and well cooked..the gravy is a tad sweet with fried onions just giving u the perfect yet delicate balance..<br/>Murgh malai was incredibly well cooked..the gravy was smooth and rich..loved it..<br/><br/>Finally..the nimish to finish it off..a lost recipe of curd/yoghurt..is a perfect way to finish ur gastronomical journey..<br/><br/>Kinetic Liit was one of the best of its kind..strong yet soothing..much recommended cocktail..<br/>Loved this place..

Fantastic place. Went for my b'day celebration and I must say it's a heavenly place for mughlai food lovers. They are very strict regarding the hygiene and made amazing arrangements. Then menu card was not used for that we need to scan the code to get the menu on our phones.<br/>Separately packed plates, forks, spoons and paper glasses all set at the table to be used for dining made me very happy.<br/>We ordered 1-) achari fish tikka- the presentation was superb and the taste omg was fab. Little sweet little spicy it was full of flavor and fish was fresh and very soft<br/>2) murg malai tikka- the chicken was so soft and the malai was yummm. Again the presentation left us stunned<br/>3) lucknowi chicken and, mutton dum pukht biriyani- here I found the biriyani was less salty and little bland. But after adding salt and pepper it was better. The quantity was very good. It came with super soft aloo and soft boiled egg. The chicken was soft and moist.<br/>4) nizami Murgh- my best salan till now. Velvety creamy gravy with coriander and big soft chicken it's just lip smacking and a Royal dish<br/><br/>The price wasnt too high and the quantity was good. Ambience was superb with courteous staff. Looking forward to more visits

Not being able to order online. It shows for orders above 800 cash on delivery not allowed. But I am not allowed to change the payment option. This has happened time and again.

Not at all happy with the kind of service and the food. Despite of instructing the waiter, that we don't eat food with chili. From the begining we made ourselves very clear infront of the waiter to navigate us food with less chili, where as he suggested us a chicken side dish conveying us as medium spicy which turnout to be a spoiler "A Complete Spoiler" along with it the biriyani (Lucknow Biriyani) is also a very spicy one. Lastly I have to leave the food in the middle way, it's because instead of enjoying the food, it was tough for me to consume the entire plate because of its spicy nature.<br/>We called a different waiter conveying him a entire incident, he came up with a complementary firni. Just because of that waiter the entire evening got wasted. <br/>Management - Please look in to this and take necessary action<br/>

Located at Raja Basanta Roy Road. The restaurant is just amazing! This is a perfect family restaurant. The ambience is so pretty! The decor, light and everything! The quality of the food is outstanding. The food items are very well-presented. The price is a bit high. The quality is good for one. The staffs are warm and welcoming. First of all I'm gonna state my only bad experience regarding this place... I went there in the first unlocking phase that too at around 8.30 and i had to dine in beside the bar counter in stead of the resturant part which was closed at that hour. Aside from this which made us miss the excellent ambience inside, everything was outstanding. Machhli aam kabab is must along with orange and sundried murg tikka. Staff was good. There's ample space. Arrangements were good. Food was awesome although i didn't feel like having the best of main course which in our case was lucknow biriyani and some mutton gravy i don't remember. Definitely a place for hangout with family, friends, girlfriend/boyfriend and it also fits perfectly well for some solo food-loving time too. Hope this helps!😄

The Saffron Tree is one of my favourite restaurants in town. Its like my kind of food paradise with a wide range of amazing delicacies starting from rich historic and authentic cuisines, biriyanis from places across India to continental cuisines with a desi twist perfectly pampering my taste buds at quite a reasonable price. The ambience amazed me with beautiful wall arts, lightings and decorations. Let's start with my orgasmic food journey at TST :<br/><br/>1. TST Special Pork Biriyani - This one is their signature creation with boneless pork loins, juicy fat chunks accompanied by potato and egg cooked to perfection with the fragrant long grained basmati rice making it utterly delicious. Pork is my all time favourite meat and again I'm a biriyani lover. So this dish for me was a marriage made in heaven.<br/><br/>2. Lucknowi Dum Biriyani (mutton) - This as we all know is a classic style of biriyani and TST rocked it with the authentic flavour. The long grained basmati rice was in its natural white colour and soulful aroma along with juicy succulent pieces of mutton with potato and egg as loved by Bengalis.<br/><br/>3. Murg Qorma and Bacon ki Lasagna - This one is aaamazing! Another TST special creation and a perfect amalgamation of continental and Indian. Baked with lots of cheese, minced chicken korma, pork bacon, whipped ricotta and handmade pasta served with butter rice, grilled vegetables and cheese roasted potato. It has rich dense creamy texture and every bite makes you want to have more. Very filling and good quantity. The veggies were properly grilled and seasoned. The cheese roasted potato made me extra happy.<br/><br/>4. J.M.B.C. - The Jama Masjid Butter Chicken. What an amazing creation! Old Delhi style butter chicken with spring onion. It's a sizzler actually served on cabbage leaf. The super delicious buttery chicken pieces melt in the mouth creating wonders on the taste buds. I had it with the Khameeri Roti and the experience was heavenly. Quantity was good.<br/><br/>5. Khameeri Roti - Thick soft fluffy roti, a bit buttery and so delicious that couldn't resist ordering more of it. I'm general not a fan of rotis but this my friend is an exception! Simply melts in the mouth and enhances the taste of the accompanied dish. Had it with J.M.B.C. <br/><br/>I'm so in love with all their dishes with their creative presentation and I'll visit TST as many times I need to in order to try each every dish they serve. Unfortunately my appetite limits the no. of dishes I can have in a single meal and I get confused what to order and what not; I feel like ordering everything. Eagerly waiting to visit and try their range of parathizzas, desserts and everything. Also thumbs up to their courteous and helpful staff.

Their presentation of food is out of the box, food is also good as well as the ambiance. I loved the crab meat dish, kababs and Biriyani. Will definitely visit again, if you want to try something different yet traditional u must give a try to this place.

⭐katafi Achari Prawn<br/>⭐ Lucknow Chicken Biriyani<br/>⭐Murg E Burg<br/>⭐Baristah E Murg<br/>⭐Wine Poached Khubani ka mitha<br/>Haute Mughlai... Haute means The cooking of world class restuarant and hotels in the western world & Mughlai, you all know the tastiest dishes we get are mughlai dish.<br/>The Saffron Tree is a very excellent example of those luxurious restuarants, which are pocket-friendly too. So we visited this place. The decoration of interior is superb and very unique. Lighting is perfect for your charming mood. Stuffs' behaviour are very friendly. Food quality is ofcourse very impressive and healthy.<br/>This was the 2nd starter, when we saw this dish we just became excited. We ordered the dish & when it came in the front of us, it was a marvellous decoration & quality was classy. Taste was so awesome, it can go for "must try" section. The prawn was fried & then they covered it all with mayonnaise & some tiny fries was sprayed from the top of the prawn. It was crunchy, it was so delicious and unique dish. This was a special dish of them I took there. I took so many photographs of those 5 prawns in a their decorated plate. Just loved this.<br/>An amazing experience it was, when we went to this most awaited restuarant and They proved that our waiting was not a waste of time. When we found this Murg e Barg dish, we had no idea about the food, just wanted to try something new, something special. When they served it, we just amazed & felt like a surprise. That style of service they provide, its really unique and top notch, as the price range they took for the food. You can see how they did it using candle just beneath of the dish. The taste was just awesome. So creamy it was for the mayonnaise, they covered all of the chicken pieces. That was a lovely experience to have it. Ofcourse try this out whenever you go there. We can say this dish on "Must Try" category from us.

This place is one of my favourite. It's near my house . Food is excellent. Staffs are excellent. Ambience is great and most importantly prices are very affordable. They never compromises with the quality. Just one thing it will be great if they add more new items on there menu.

💯 The Saffron Tree is loaded with dollops of heritage, nostalgia and ingenuity, and lives up to the expectations that his first venture, Spice Kraft on Hazra Road, has set. <br/>👍 Best for its Mughlai dishes. Starters are really awesome.Ambience is 5/5. They welcomed us with great hospitality, that is appreciable. Decent place for a Family diners/ lunch. But prices are little bit costly but worthy for its decore..

The ambience of the restuarant is really amazing. In frame litchi ke kebab , it's taste was succulent, sweet and extremely tasty kebabs to give a fantastic kick start to your dinner. The presentation is amazing as shown along with courteous staff, but we felt it was a bit over priced . All in all, a must try,if you visit this place . ❤️

The Saffron Tree is located in Southern Avenue, Kolkata that serves Mughlai and continential cuisines. It's a new place for me with great ambience and interior seating arrangements. The interior part is the one that will make you fall in love with itself at the first sight. It was well planned and superbly executed. The seating arrangement is so comfy yet so different. The theme of the restaurant was simply amazing and the lights are phenomenal. Talking about the food which we had are:-<br/>*JMBC : It was their signature dish. Don't miss it guys. Please do try it once. Highly recommended👍<br/>*Kataifi Achari Prawns : Though i dont like prawns much but still i loved it very much. For hard core prawn lovers this is the dish!!! It was fantastic. Obviously recommended<br/>*Lucknow Dum Mutton Biriyani : The quantity of biriyani was too good. It was delicious and authenticity of taste is its best form. It was cooked with perfection that anyone who is craving for some biriyani would loved it a lot♥.<br/>

.<br/>Barishtah-e-murg (3.5/5) - Succulent chicken pieces cooked with ghee giving it an excellent aroma in it's gravy, Barishtah-e-murg very much compliments Memoni Musung Keema and also can be enjoyed with 'Hajmola Collins'<br/>.<br/>Memoni Keema Musung (4.5/5) - Memoni keema musung is a biriyani fused with aromatic spices, is a must-try in the list of biriyanis at saffron tree. It is served with two seekh kebabs that blends perfectly with the biriyani<br/><br/>Nimish (5/5) - Light-as-a-cloud cream pudding-Nimish is a beautiful creamy dessert from Lucknow - the land of Nawabs and a refined treat said to be better than kulfi, the common indian icecream. To all the sweet lovers, Nimish is highly recommended.<br/><br/>Hajmola Collins (2.5/5)- Hajmola collins is a soda base drink with a mixture of spices. It is very good for digestion but the only problem with the taste was that the spice was not complimenting the flavour. If it could have been a little less spicy and a little bit more sweet than it would've been perfect!<br/><br/>J.M.B.C- (5/5) - The way Saffron tree has made a fusion of this dish is truly amazing. Really hats off to the recipe maker for creating such an amazing fusion of western and indian dish. J.M.B.C is a mouth watering delicacy served over a sizzler plate and hot clarified butter on it, which makes it look even more appealing. Feels like heaven! Highly recommended! Im gonna try it again and again! <br/>

Hello Friends,<br/>Without much introduction, let's straight get into the feedback..<br/><br/>Items ordered--<br/>** Mocktails - Blue Hawaii<br/>1. Crab meat ki galawat<br/>2. Kataifi achari prawns<br/>3. J.M.B.C<br/>4. Machli aur aam papad ki kebab<br/>5. Mutton Hyderabadi sofiana Biriyani<br/>6. Baristah e murg<br/>7. Nimish<br/><br/>Well all the foods were awesome.<br/>Mocktail was refreshing.<br/>Crab item had a cheesy crab flesh stuffing. Though the crab meat quantity was less. But the taste was very nice.❣️<br/>Prawn was nice and vermicelli was crunchy. The mustard sauce where the prawns were dipped in was so lip smacking.❣️<br/>J.M.B.C,their signature dish. Creamy chicken.. please don't miss. Must try❣️<br/>Machli aur aam papad ki kebab- Generally most of the restaurants don't prepare fish kebab well. And mostly all fish kebabs in all restaurant tastes same. But here it was a new definition. It was a beautiful kebab with the amm papad flavour. Must try ❣️<br/>Mutton Hyderabadi sofiana Biriyani-- well generally Hyderabadi biriyanis are very spicy. But here it's another version of the dish. Totally non spicy. It is prepared with almond paste and milk as they claim. But when the platter comes, only white rice with biriyani essence is what gets served with 1 aloo 1egg 1pc of soft mutton piece. So the thing is it's better to avoid. However to overcome the loss we had to order a side dish so that we can have the rice.<br/><br/>Baristah e murg, the savior .. a very nice spicy chicken curry<br/>Nimish,is basically plain mousse with butter scotch toppings.<br/><br/>I rated 4 for only one reason that is we asked the restaurant person that how will be the Hyderabadi sofiana Biriyani but he just said non spicy. But he should have explained it well so that we could've ordered some other biriyani.<br/>A very nice experience indeed. Lovely place.

A classic fooding experience, where lost and rare Mughlai food is presented in a swany way, in a bit of fusion. Fish with mango slices kebabs, different flavours of biriyani and the dessert, especially nimish and gosht ki Halwa are must-try. Thanks to Chef Arnob, this was a really memorable fooding experience in Kolkata.

Had visited this place recently with friends. Having heard a lot about this place previously, I was left slightly disappointed after my visit. For starters the macchli hing nisha was excellent. The fish was tender and flavoursome. The kataifi achari prawns was a big disappointment. Overcooked prawns hard to even bite. For the main course, the Biryani was okay. The Khameeri roti was really delicious. The sides (mutton malai & Nizami Murg) were good to taste and the portions comprised 4 very small pieces of meat in each dish. Claiming to offer same quantity as popular Mughal restaurants of parks circus is not at all the case here. Overall did not meet the expectations.

Saffron Tree is a classy place near Kalighat. The place justifies it's name with it's decor, yellow coloured walls with graffiti and hanging tea cups. The service was quick and the staffs were generous.<br/><br/>Items we tried :<br/><br/>1. The famous J.M.B.C, its a semi gravy sizzling starter with six pieces of soft delicious chicken. The taste is really mouthwatering.<br/>Rating - 5/5 (Highly Recommended)<br/><br/>2. Machhli Hing Nisha is another fish starter, the presentation is really nice and the pieces are soft and tastes really good.<br/>Rating - 4.5/5 (Recommended)<br/><br/>3. Lucknowi Dum Biryani (Mutton). I found the quantity a little less but the mutton was soft and the biryani tasted delicious.<br/>Rating - 4.7/5 (Highly Recommended)<br/><br/>Tip - Do try out their amazing starters and biryani. If you haven’t visited this already, do visit this one asap.

We took pork biriyani, mutton malai, bakarkhani, kulcha.riyaI was salty and pork cubes were having thick fat layers. Anyways something new. The mutton malai was very small pieces of mutton in a basic white sauce. It was sweet and naive. Astonished to know that nawabs were fond of WHITE SAUCE!! cause they add nawab to every item in the menu. Bread was oily and sweet. Very much disappointed. Probably will not visit anymore. However ambience was good.

This was my first visit at The Saffron Tree. Amongst their wide range of food items we had Macchli Aur Aam Papad ki Kebab, J.M.B.C and Special Pork Biriyani which tastes amazing. Special thanks goes to Mr.Subhankar Heera for explaining us the unique taste of the dishes. :)

This restaurant was on our bucket list for long . So, on a Sunday afternoon we finally got a chance to visit this place. We were one of the early diners and the place was almost full by the time we left. With such high ratings and awesome reviews on Zomato, we had very high expectation from this place.<br/><br/>The dishes we ordered are as follows:-<br/>i) Machli Hing NIsha – this was the first dish served to us. And no point in denying, we were blown away by the taste. The fish was perfectly cooked, the dressing of the fish tasted heavenly and our expectation soared higher.<br/>ii) Baked Alaska Murg Sondha Kabab- The second dish served, definitely looked appealing. It tasted good but nothing extraordinary. Basically, chicken kebab covered with baked meringue.<br/>iii) Lucknowi Dum Biryani(Mutton)- the biryani was not very oily or spicy and we weren’t disappointed by the taste. What disappointed us was the portion size, specially the size of the mutton piece. The biryani was definitely above average but does not comply to the restaurants claim that the Prices and Quantity are exactly the same with that of restaurants in Khidderpore or Park Circus.<br/>iv) Nizami Murg- The gravy was creamy, non spicy and soothed out taste buds. But the chicken pieces, we felt, were a little undercooked.<br/>v) Crab meat ki Galawat- Not happy with the mutton portion in Biryani, husband decided to order this particular dish to satisfy his appetite. This was crab meat with cream cheese served in cones. While I found the dish to be a little smelly and didn’t relish it, husband finished the whole dish to his advantage.<br/>vi) Nimish- by this time we were full. But couldn’t resist the temptation of trying a dessert we have never heard about. It was a creamy dessert, tasted nice, but too heavy for us.<br/><br/>Overall, this place is definitely worth a try. The ambience is great, the food presentation even better and the staffs were cordial. We would have probably enjoyed even more, if our expectation was not sky high in the beginning.

This place has been in my bucket list for a long time and finally, few days ago I visited the place and was fully satisfied with the experience. The place is decorated with vibrant yellow colour and decors, with hanging tea cups and pots and wall paintings and artificial trees. The sofas and even the plates are yellow justifying the name.<br/><br/>Their menu is an elaborate one, with description of each dish beside the names. They present the dishes in an innovative manner and the service was quite quick.<br/><br/>Items we tried :<br/><br/>1. Macchli Hing Nisha - This consists of five soft pieces of fish. The fish kebab tastes really delicious and melts in the mouth. Really liked it.<br/>Rating - 4.9/5 (Highly Recommended)<br/><br/>2. J. M. B. C (sizzling kebab) - This is a semi-gravy sizzling dish. The preparation is quite similar to the previous one but tastes really good. The pieces are soft and tastes mouthwatering.<br/>Rating - 4.6/5 (Highly Recommended)<br/><br/>3. TST Special Pork Biryani - The biryani was really tasty and pork was soft but the quantity seemed a little less.<br/>Rating - 4.5/5 (Highly Recommended)<br/><br/>4. Lucknowi Dum Biryani (Mutton) - It's the classic mutton biryani with a really soft mutton piece, a piece of potato and they provided an egg with this. Tasted really good. <br/>Rating - 4.5/5<br/><br/>Do visit this outlet and try out their amazing dishes. One of the best restaurants for north indian dishes.

The Saffron Tree is a place which needs no introduction. It was there on my wishlist for a long time and finally I got the chance to tick it off.<br/>As the name suggests, the ambiance is classy yet simple and all saffron. The wall art, in and out with the ' Haute Mughlai ' at the entrance seems perfectly in sync with the nice food that they offer. ❤❤ The music was dope and just soothed the mood further. 💯<br/>I loved their innovative items, their desserts as well as maincourse and starters, thus in short everything almost. They have introduced new items in the list which was required and is great to taste and enjoy.<br/><br/>Coming to the things we ordered, the order consists of-<br/>1. Kinetic LIIT<br/>2. Kataifi Achari Prawn<br/>3. Peas Pulao<br/>4. Plain Basmati Rice<br/>5. Jhinga Nisha Dum Ki Qarry<br/>6. Noor E Mahi<br/>7. Memoni Keema Musang<br/>8. Green Salad<br/>9. Hyderabadi Murg Sofi<br/>10. Lucknawi Dum Mutton Biryani<br/>11. Wine Poached Khubani<br/><br/>The Kataifi Achari Prawn was too good actually and it went well with the cocktail i.e Kinetic LIIT. Like every other food here, the starter was presented in a great way with a stick inside; the outer layering was a bit crisp with the prawn being well cooked inside.<br/><br/>The cocktail tasted nice too. Coming to the main course, the biryanis were perfect with each of it's own unique style and taste. The quantity was appropriate and together with the salad, it tasted awesome. ❤<br/><br/>We also ordered Salan and took Noor e Mahi with peas pulao and basmati rice. We also ordered Jhinga Nisha Dum.. The prawns tasted great with the rice and pulao. The fish also went well.<br/><br/>We had also ordered JMBC and Machli aur Aam Papad kebabs and we weren't disappointed rather just got soothed.<br/><br/>Finally, we had Wine Poached Khubani which was really tasty and melted instantly in mouth. ❤❤ We also took Nimish which was sweet and delicious and demanded more.<br/><br/>So to deduce, The Saffron Tree is a great place to check your taste buds, doesn't matter whether it's lunch or dinner or anything else, it won't disappoint you but allure you more to come back and experience more of their bar and food menu. So see you soon again. ❤❤💯

❤️ THE SAFFRON TREE ❤️<br/> <br/> This place is located at Southern Avenue near Lake Kalibari [Address: 100 Raja Basanta Roy Road, Lake Terrace, Kalighat, Kolkata - 700029 ]<br/> 🕰️ Time: 11am to 11pm (Monday to Friday)<br/> Saturday and Sunday ( 11am to 4 pm ) & ( 7pm to 11pm )<br/> They offer a variety of Mughlai & Continental Cuisine. Not just that , they have Biriyani menu as well.<br/> The ambience is very soothing. The decore is eye catching and so colourful. The staffs are polite and well mannered. The of food is indeed Satisfactory. Great place for Family & Friends. <br/> It's a must visit place and recommend to all. <br/><br/> We Tried : <br/><br/> 🍹Drinks: Blue Hawai (A Tropical Mocktail) 🍹<br/><br/> 🥓Starter: Litchi Ke Kebab🥓<br/> (Nawab Alivardi Khan’s gift of litchis to Shuja-ud-Daulah has inspired the inventive dish that is Litchi Ke Kebab) <br/><br/>🍛🥗Main course: Memoni Keema Musang with<br/> Green Salad 🍛 🥗<br/> (A rare dish by the Bantva Memon community of Gujrat use lentils, chicken mince, yoghurt and tomatoes to make their Biryani)<br/><br/> 🍮Dessert: Wine Poached Kubani ka Meetha 🍮<br/> ( It is a Hyderabadi Dessert. This heavenly delicacy is prepared using simple ingredients like dried apricots, sugar and perfectly flavoured with rose water and saffrons strands.)

Went after hearing great reviews but was disappointed with the food. The chicken kebab for started was dry and overcooked. It was served with a sweet mayonnaise sauce which was a very strange combination. The fish starter was the only good thing. Ordered couple of verki paratha and mutton ishtu for mains. The verki paratha was like a hard dry pizza base. That's not how the authentic stuff tastes like. The fusion version of chicken a la kiev was a disaster - served with garlic overloaded pita breads and boiled veggies on the side with no seasoning whatsoever. The staff was very courteous and attentive. Decor and ambience was nice. However the food wasnt up to the mark. We may have ordered the wrong stuff but a restaurant cannot be called great if only a selected few items are good.

Firstly I would like to highlight about The Saffron Tree restaurant is their courteous staffs. If you want to experience something different and soothing you should definitely visit this place. The food quality is good and the quantity also justifies the price charged for it. Here's a short description about the food we tried...<br/>Machli aur Aam Papad ki Kebab - it is basically fish kabab with a hint of mango taste in it (definitely recommend)<br/>Lucknow Dum Biryani - the quantity might look a bit less but it actually serves two people. It tastes really good and you won't feel to full after having it.<br/>J.M.B.C - it is actually called Jama Masjid Butter Chicken and it tastes quite good.<br/>Blue Hawaii mocktail - it's amazing and refreshing too.<br/>Lastly, they will offer you candies which will help in digestion. <br/>Each and every staffs are customer oriented and will seek your review when you leave the place.
