Review Dunkel Braun - Kolkata (Calcutta)

Located opposite Salt Lake City Centre this is a pure veg bakery cafe. The interior decor is fabulous. The ground floor has a huge selection of bakery and drinks. The cafe menu is good and the food very tasty. The service is a bit slow but it makes up for the quality of the food. The staff are also very helpful.

One of the best pure veg cafes I have visited recently. Great ambience and a very insta worthy place to hang out with friends and family. We had tried Honey Almond Tart which was fantabulous and Butterscotch Doughnut which became a but hard due to heating maybe which is generally unusual.

It’s one of my favourite dining cafe the ambience is the main thing for which I always get attracted towards the cafe .

This is the first time I visited this bakery. For me one of the best in taste and ambience till date. They have a wide variety of cakes, chocolates, breads, and other types of snacks. All the pastries looked really delicious. Not only the taste but also the delicacy of the appearance, the variety of the cakes and the atmosphere of the place were all perfect. The ambience is very beautiful with unique interior designs. We had an apple pie, blueberry tart and a Doppio. The warm apple pie was a soothing experience for our taste bud and the flavor of tart was just like an explosion in my mouth. And in order to minimise the sweetness the doppio was there for me. That was a perfect combination. When Doppio gave the bitterness the pastries were there to give the sweetness and vice versa. The tart was uniquely designed resembling a boat carrying loads of sweetness in it. Doppio was perfectly prepared. The crema has completely covered the coffee below it and had smooth texture with the perfect amount of bitterness. Overall this was an awesome experience for sweet-tooth people will definitely love this shop.

This place can be a good option while search for a pur veg cafe. Well decorated place with a great ambience can be a place for a perfect date. But service needs improvement. Opt for a coffee and tea and it was good.

Log: March2023: I’ve been to this place thrice so far. Last year during monsoon went with family on a rainy Sunday. Recently, this Saturday noon as well. The place opposite City Center 1, salt lake is quite spacious, well lit, has a comfortable dining space upstairs. Ambience is good. Surprisingly, it’s the Kambucha tea and other edibles that are better than their pastries, cookies and puffs. A stale samosa was served but will treat it as a one off case because it’s worth visiting this place again for a Kambucha tea. Now they’ve opened morning breakfast buffet. Haven’t tried that. This review was two months ago. Log:June 2023: Recently, visited on a Saturday afternoon with daughter: I had the usual Kombucha tea; daughter enjoyed hot chocolate and spaghetti. Bumped into old acquaintances… left with a warm feeling! PS: They’ve taken morning buffet breakfast off!

The place is well lit up and ambience is very very beautiful. The staff is courteous and well behaved. They greet you while entering and leaving. A big place with great music and lightening. Now coming to the food it's full vegetarian. But food is standard and price is not very affordable neither very expensive. Personally I felt they could improve the taste of food. For example the coffee we ordered was not very cold.. other than that they maintain hygiene and all. It's a good new place to try out.

Amazing Bakery. Nice big place with lots of indoor seating. Both Ground and first floor. I've put lots of snaps and one of a menu. The food is very good and the chef seems to take trouble to get the dish just right. They also have a small book shelf if you intend to spend some time. One of the few places in Kolkata which has kombucha on the menu. 🙂

Also they serve gift busket and different types of kombucha. The ambience is super pretty. Tried their spinach cigar roll which is crispy and filled with sweet corn and spinach filling. There is summer fruit salad which is very refreshing. You will find summer's favourite watermelon, grapes, apple and lot more. Served with cottage cheese and dressing. Cheese fondue is always my favourite. Melted hot cheese comes with toasted cube sized bread and lot of grill veggies like brocoli, baby corn, beans and zucchini. From mains you can try their Lebanese platter where you will find creamy hummus pair it with Crispy falafal finally wrap them up in a pita bread. Now you can enjoy. We all love a good sandwich now think your sandwich is covered with smoke sounds interesting?? Yes Dunkel Braun special sandwich serves with potato wedges & ketchup. All of it covers with a cool smoke. For dessert?! My top pick is sizzling brownie with ice cream. A perfect dessert pair. Also they launched their new pink Women's Day special menu. Like you can taste pink pasta, pink milkshake, pink sandwich, pink mousse cake and lots more. You can enjoy this pink menu for whole March. Quality and Quantity is top notch. Lovely bakery with an assortment of eggless pastries and cakes. Nice spacious decor. The only downside is the only vegetarian theme is carried over into their upstairs cafeteria, resulting in pure veg abominable adaptations of popular continental dishes.

Nice ambiance, excellent bakery item. Blueberry cheese cake seems to be hot favorite among kids

My favourite cafe in Kolkata now. Perfect prices, perfect quantity, perfect taste. The ambience is almost like sitting inside a cafe in Brussels at night. My favourite items are the pizza and the cake. I just said I want a cake made completely out of chocolate and they recommended their best one, I've included the picture below. The cold coffee we ordered had the right taste for me but the quantity was a bit too much for one person (at least, for me). I just wish they add their pastries on swiggy because I absolutely loved the one I ordered. The pizza had a thin crust base and it had the perfect crunchiness. I'm coming back here again in future for sure. Better than most of the cafe's I've visited in Kolkata. They also have their own product lineup like their own bread and cakes, I didn't try them out yet but I'm sure they are all as perfect as their other products.
