Located in the new market area near esplanade metro station.. This is a very old pastry & bakery shop selling authentic pastries since long. the best part of their bakery items is freshness and softness. vareties of pastries are available here.
Kolkata's Pride- Post Number 3
A must try for all Kolkata people.
Best place for Christmas Cake.
We order every year.
Review-
Must order - Brownies. Very tasty and you will know what actual brownies taste like. Worth the money.
The rich fruit cake is my personal favorite. It has a wonderful appetizing smell. Very tasty.
You can also try plum cake if you don't want to have fruit cake.
It will not be a disappointment.
The small treats aren't as tasty as the cakes.
Go for the cakes I mentioned if you feel spoilt for choices. ❤

Since my childhood, there's no change in decor and atmosphere which I love most it has nostalgia, and their Cake pastry n puffs are excellent and the price is pocket friendly...
I love Nahum's Cheese puff, Cheese Patties, Chocolate eclairs, Chocolate and Strawberry cubes, Almond puffs..
It's true some time their quality drops from the level of perfection but we all wish that they will improve in the long run.

It has been 2 years that I don't visit this place anymore since I don't reside in Kolkata... I went to this place as I'm a foodie and once I made a list of all the famous gems of Kolkata and went out with my best friend at 8am on a food walk and ended up here for obvious reasons and it was on the last week of December... The Plum cake is very famous over here and with Nahoum's plum cake my Christmas is always incomplete...

Oldest confectionery in Kolkata.....
Maintaining there quality of food till now....
The Christmas cakes are just awesome ....
Must try there pantries too
In this present pandemic time, decided to go offbeat by trying their lemon muffin, some stuffed jam cookies, cheese puff and sweet buns as a takeaway. Lemon muffins were tasty enough and I would rank the other three a decent so-so. As a whole my gastronomical experience isn't bad of Nahoum's.
This iconic bakery serving freshly baked bread, cake and other confectionery items is my favourite.. We go there for Christmas.. I love love love their brownies..
At last visited this old and one of the renowned bakery shop in town.
It's worth the money and time.
Tried their egg chop and it's really awesome 😘
Legendary Place in Kolkata located at Hogg Market, Esplanade. Nahoum is famous for plum cake, pie, chicken puff, vanilla cake.
I visited here so many times and ordered different cakes. All were exceptionally good
At last got to visit this beautiful place. This old charming place is still at it's best. Tried their chocolate pastries, egg chop and both were damm good.Totally loved it❤
Nestled amidst the hustle and bustle of New Market, Nahoum and Sons is an absolute go-to if you happen to visit Kolkata. It’s a historic establishment known for its confectionery and baked items.
Don’t sleep on the lemon tart; it is legitimately the most beautifully tangy, lemony dessert I’ve had in ages. Another big shout-out goes to the plum cakes that it’s already well-known for—they’re decadent and beautifully rich. Do visit this place if you’re a big dessert aficionado!
10/10
childhoom memories at this place. Egg chops are the best, and black forest. had these here after 15 years and still taste the same. highly recommend this place. other savoury stuff are also really good. such an old place.
One of the oldest family run bakeries in kolkota. It is situated in the S.S Hoggs market. There is limited items but seeing the amount of people moving in n out it seems quite popular .we bought sweet buns which we felt were overpriced for Rs 25 each also they were dry . The chocolate éclairs filling was too sweet. But we loved the Almond rings .
Kolkata is full of legendary food places serving more than century and this is another such place.
Situated at New Market which is another legendary market for more than 150 years ,its a bakery run by same family since starting, famous for its cakes and other bakery items, worth visit when in Kolkata and love cakes and pastries.
Huge demand, especially during the pre-Christmas time. Really delicious cakes, no doubt, but hye wait is killing. The environment inside the shop is in the 1902 time.
While the store is immensely nostalgic and iconic, the place has become quite unreasonable with its pricing because of the fame it already has. 4 is a bit higher than what I want to give it and 3 is a tad bit lower.
So succumbing to the memories of this store, I give it a bittersweet 4. The plum cake, the special fruit cake, the butter cake, the black forest pastry are all very nice (and loaded). The prices are exorbitant but it is okay once in a while if you cannot make it yourself.
The not so nice things are the savouries present. Seriously, DO NOT try the savoury bakes. They are just extremely bad and feel cheap.
Tip: They have an almond cookie (they are small roundish blobs of crispy chewy goodness). Try it. It is very different and quite nice.
The special Christmas cakes were good & soft. They also have a wide range of sweet & savoury stuff, all fresh & tasty. Tried the cup cake, it was really nice & different, had a nice soft inner texture & had a jam filling as well.
Call me crazy but I actually went out there and ordered all possible cakes so that I could taste all of them and come up with my favourites. They are all priced at 40 rs and it's totally worth it.This is really old confectionery and a really good one.
I really love the strawberry pastry, almond tart, lemon tart( incase you like tangy), lemon souffle, baklawa & rich fruit cake( absolutely delish)
Do give it a try.
Finally was able to make a visit to this historic place. There seems to be a queue always irrespective of when you visit and wait time is anywhere between 10 mins - 1 hr depending on rush. Personal favorites are almond cookies, fruit cake and garlic bread. The pastries were a bit dry and not upto expectations.
I love bakeries, so when I read about Nahoum’s in the New Market area in Kolkata, I knew I had to visit. I’m so glad I did! It is inside the market, but every single seller I asked knew where it was, so I was able to get there easily.
It is very popular, with lots of customers being served quickly. The selection is vast and everything looked delicious! Since it is a Jewish bakery, I didn’t know what goods to expect. I asked if there were bagels, and the owner said no as if he has answered the question many times before. 😊 We bought two cream-filled croissants, two chocolate pastries, and some almond cookies and all were all delicious! Lots of other things were very tempting, so it was hard to choose.
In addition to having tasty baked goods, this was a fascinating cultural experience. Highly recommended!
