Review Stock Exchange Tea Stall - Kolkata

RAHUL PAUL
Food quality is good. Service is nice and fast.. Place is usually crowded but you don't have to wait for your seat. The seating method is unique and cool. Best place to chill with friends, family and friends for breakfast and evening snacks. Parking facility is available and free.

Food quality is very good. Staffs are well behaved. Malai toast is the showstopper along with Cheese Corn sandwich. Appropriate for breakfast. A must try for all.

its a small tea shop (dukan) in a corner (kona) of a street beside calcutta stock exchange and writers building and hence the name kona dukan. the place has an awesome atmosphere in the morning, buzzing mainly with morning walkers and also college students. The place opens fairly early by 5AM and by 10, almost all the crowd is gone. i tried the club kachori and malai toast... and both of them were quite good. bread was topped with sugar and club kachori sabji was also good. Overall a good experience.

The moment one enters the lane leading to Lalbazar, there are a bunch of shops on both sides of the street, all eager to serve customers. But one can't miss the guys from Kona dokan who are dressed in red tees with the name of their shop proudly occupying the backside of the tee. They lead you to the end of the land which is where this iconic outlet is located. The malai sandwich here tastes heavenly since both the bread and malai is fresh. I tried out their chili cheese toast, which they customized for me without capsicum. The cheese was tasty and the sandwich that came with ketchup and chilli sauce almost melted in my mouth. They hardly take 5-8 minutes to serve though every item is freshly prepared. I couldn't stop myself from trying out their singaras which tasted heavenly. Saw a few people eat club kachoris and a man order dosa too. They serve kesar tea, which tasted fab. There are a number of chairs for customers to seat in front of the shop and around it. I sat inside the car parked beside the shop and savored the food. However, the prices are slightly on the higher side compared to other iconic outlets in similar settings.

Good place for breakfast... I tried lassi, cheese veg sandwich, butter toast, and milk tea. It was fine. But they charged 185 rupi for all these.. That feels a bit expensive in a street shop in Kolkata.

One of the best place to have sunday breakfast . Had great experience with service & atmosphere. From Aston Martins to altos , every level people are having the same food there . Food is also good .

No trip to kolkata is complete without a chai-toast from a street joint and no place does it better than Kona Dukan

Sandwich with malai and sugar. The loaf of bread was so good, mind-boggling it was, totally fresh, reminded me of the freshness from my younger years There was a person from the shop who served us right from when we took a turn into the street till we left Tea with kesar, real kesar, fantastic aroma in an earthen pot I have tried these two, and it is a must visit place if you want to experience the old Kolkata Of course there was the kolkota stock exchange which is now defunct, but it was reminiscent of the old days

Not like any other cheap streetside breakfast/snacks place. One can get street side food experience here.

We tried mushroom sandwich and corn cheese sandwich and it was awesome. The malai toast was also delicious.😋 The kesar chai is highly recommended to try. I'm not a chai person but this one was worth burning my taste buds😂

A cozy little street corner shop which dishes out tasty food. One however should be willing to sit on plastic chairs on a road corner amongst bustling traffic

Probably the best Chai Sutta place to visit early morning. The place opens from 5 am. The tea is perfect here. Not much sugar, not much milk, perfect blend. Your morning tastebuds would really love this tea. The price is okay at its quality pov. The big tea costs about 40 Rs. You can get sandwiches and special dosa even at this early hours. The cheese masala schezwan dosa was really tasty. And the red chutney they provide with dosa is mesmerising. There is sitting arrangements here. Its an open place with quite a good ambience. A must visit for chai lovers specially during sunrise.

Don't let this small roadside shop fool you by it's modest appearance. For the foods that you're going to have will blow your mind. The malai toast is one of the best I've ever had. Also the kesar tea is pretty good too(though the price of tea is a bit on the higher side :-( , Rs 70 ). The lassi and the cheese corn sandwich are pretty good too.

I stumbled upon the place through google. None of my extensive research mentioned this place. After saying my fajr prayer at the nakhoda masjid, I searched for breakfast places open at the hour. 5 am! And this came up at the top of the list! I walked there and found a sizeable crowd already gathered around the shop and having breakfast! Motorcycles and cars abound. I have almost always had horrible experience with the places suggested by respected bloggers. This place, my find (😎), was, on the other hand, absolutely amazing! I had malai toast, corn-cheese sandwich and the tea. If you’re a health buff, ask them not to add sugar on the malai, but do have this. It’s beautiful. Combination of hot toast and cold malai somehow complements each other pretty well. The corn-cheese sandwich is absolutely gorgeous as well. About the tea: one of the best I have ever had in Kolkata. Second only to my favorite chawala in Dhaka. I know it’s a famous place in Kolkata, but as a tourist, I just loved the find!

Amazing food with lots of varieties. We visited for morning breakfast at around 8am on Saturday. It was very crowded. Staff arranges for chairs and tables. Finding a parking spot can be a hassle sometimes. We tried toast butter, malai bread, tawa idly fry, mini samosa, corn cheese sandwich, kachori sabzi, schezwan cheese dosa and kesar chai. Kesar chai is amazing and a must try 😋

Kona Dukan in Kolkata Stock Market area has its unique vibe that has now because a morning breakfast attraction for people all across the country. The servie there is not exceptionally quick but they treat you with utmost importance and are always on their feet to get you your food as quick as possible. The street style eating atmosphere is something very subjective to people's likings but to those who enjoy going out with family and having a love chit chat session over food this is a must visit place.

This was literally our go to place for a snack during office. They have amazing sandwiches. Do try the cheese sandwich here

This is my go to place if I'm feeling blue. Typically order tea and malai toast with a cigarette. Service is good, but wouldn't recommend if you're particular about hygiene because it's a roadside chai dukan. No proper arrangements except plastic stools in car park.
But I love their tea!
Swastika Bhattacharjee
Kona dukan has been my go to place for breakfast forever here in Kolkata. It is just the best and just my favourite place to be early in the morning. It serves you the best chai and also do try the chilli cheese sandwich. It isn’t a very fancy place with crazy ambiance or something. It’s preferable to go there with your own car and park it somewhere nearby, the people at the store will come and take orders from your car as well and serve you there as well. But surely, you’re gonna love it after you have breakfast there, i can bet.
Sumeet Arora ( Foodie.From.Kolkata )
The best time to catch this place is between 3.30 to 5 when after a good or a bad day u get a refreshments and a full chit chat session over a cup of tea they have some real sandwich varieties

Went here on a Sunday morning around 10am. The place wasn't really crowded so we could get chairs easily.
Food: We ordered schezwan dosa, mushroom sandwich, paneer sandwich, corn cheese sandwich and malai toast. Everything was decent but nothing great. The kesar in the chai wasn't good and definitely not worth the 60 bucks they charged.
Service: Quite prompt and quick. I wish they had a menu, at least on the wall, because the waiter missed a few items while narrating to us.
Budget: Unlike what Zomato says, it's Rs.200 per person if you want to have a good breakfast.

Overall a good place if you're in the vicinity, but not good enough for a second visit.
Abhishek
The go to place for all hungry hogs around 4 am - 10 am if what I felt about this place. There would be many small eateries around serving almost same food and taste as others. Hence the reason one should go here is to get the feeling of being served fresh food at 4 am. I love the malai toast here.

Visited this place on 12th Jan 2020.
Location:
As the name suggests its located right at the corner and beside the stock exchange building.

As it's a road side joint, they will get you chairs and stools to sit beside the road.

Lets talk food now:
1. The Kesari chai is a must try.
2. The taste of Malai toast was just out of this world.(i loved it very much)
3. Was speechless after tasting the mushroom sandwich.
4. They serve samosa too.(which was over by the time we reached)

Staffs:
Got a very warm welcome from the staffs. They were fast and the food was also prepared and served in a jiffy.

Verdict:
Overall this place is a perfect chai and adda spot and not much known by today's generation.

P.S.: Visit on a Sunday evening if you and your friends want to enjoy a calm weekend evening tea and snacks.

The perfect adda for today's generation kids. If you haven't visited to this place then you should must. The malai toast and big tea is the perfect combination of breakfast and snacks. It's my hangout place as well.
Samiksha Dokania
An evergreen breakfast scene at Kolkata’s Stock Exchange where a cup of chai in a mud pot and a slice of malai toast is a must. Their popularity makes them a common choice for destination weddings, and I was lucky to find one at a party in ITC Grand Bharat, Gurgaon. ⠀
⭐⭐⭐️⭐️⭐️⠀⠀

While placing order for corn sandwich today, I had mentioned "No Onion and Garlic". When I received the food delivered, I found it contains Onion...I had to discard the food...

Their Malai Toast is my favourite and is awesome....

This place was on my wishlist from so long. We went on a Sunday morning for a good breakfast. We had chai, schezwen dosa, laasi, corn cheese & capsicum sandwich. Good place for breakfast definitely.

This place a an experience! You own the place. You go on a weekend (because stock market is closed) and sit in the middle of the street and have Kolkata style breakfast. You can have tea/coffee, sandwiches (must try), dosa, idly, kachori-sabji and more.

Very pocket friendly.

If you haven't slept all night or you woke up early, this is your go to place.

Happy eating!

This is a famous tea stall near Kolkata stock exchange. The varieties of sandwichs and the tea here are quite famous. The sandwich consisted of tomatoes, capsicum, corn, onions, mayonnaise and cheese. The sanwich was quarterly divided and it was perfectly crisp. The amalgation of of all the veggies with cheese was a perfect delight for the taste buds. The veggies were well cooked maintaing the crispness. The sandwich was served with green chutney and tamatto sauce. Personally I m not a big fan green chutney and I like my sandwich without any accompaniments.
I can vouch this is one of the best veg sandwich the city can offer and sandwich lovers must try out and satisfy their craving.
.The dosa was thin and crisp resembling the Karnataka version of dosa. The dosa was filled with small onion pieces. The potato, carrot and tomato filling was mixed and balanced with perfect spices. The coriander added also gave that extra dash of flavour. The sambar and the coconut chutney was also fulfilling.
Sunday evenings are to be spent at Stock Exchange's Kona dukaan! The Victoria vada(not available on Sundays but definitely on other days) along with the Garlic chutney and the green chutney is something out of this world. The tea they serve which has a mild flavour of ginger, saffron and cardamom soothes my soul. Malai toast namak(salt) is what I prefer but one with a sweet tooth can try Malai toast cheeni(sugar) or plain Malai toast. They even serve toasts with plain butter and sugar or butter and salt or just plain butter.

This place has had a very big space in my life since my childhood. Used to accompany my father on Saturday's to his office and he would treat me to the amazing toasts, sandwiches and dosas on offer. This small little stall in the corner infront of the Calcutta Stock Exchange building is the perfect place to go if you want to experience Kolkata. People in their luxury sedans stop by just to have a taste of their amazing tea and Malai Toast.

I went there with my friends early in the morning and we had Tea, Malai Toast, Butter Toast, Sandwiches, dosa, fried idli and Soda shikanji.

All the dishes are a must must try especially the Tea, Malai Toast and Corn-Cheese sandwich. A 5-star rating is not enough for the experience and Food you get at this place 😁 do visit.

Ordered malai toast, corn sandwich, masala dosa and two teas. All the dishes are lips smacking. The service was quite fast and very courteous. The bill came about 185 which was super cheap.

I'm shook by how cheap this place is. We ordered like 14 things for 3 people and the bill came to 350 rupees. Their chai, butter toast, mushroom sandwich, samosas, malai toast, and idlis are all very good.
Manav Malhotra
Quintessential place in Kolkata, gave birth to the famous Stock Market chai. Tea is actually fabulous, brewed to perfection and steeped with Saffron strands. It a must have for every Tea aficionado. Also, worth mentioning are the variety of Toasts
Sneha Agarwal
The regular office adda which serves the best tea in the area... the malai toast is a signature item however I am not too fond of it.. lassi is good too..

Be it a morning or evening on a weekend, if u r lucky to get a parking slot, it’s the best tea outlet in the city. They have started catering outdoors for weddings etc as well and what rocks the boat for them is the Toast they serve with the tea. Now it’s become a a common affair across the city. But the leader hasn’t lot it’s pole and is pole vaulting every day to satisfy the millions of people that visit.

On weekdays, being centrally located in a business district, footfalls are extremely high and the lane is always bustling anyway.

Normally on weekends, you can spend some time there with friends or family and treat over the sandwiches available in the vicinity. The only issue with a Sunday is that the roll counters are shut adjacent to them. Paneer and mushroom grilled sandwiches complement the Teat from Kona Dukan just well.

They have plenty of people running along the stretch to serve every customer that comes by and they ensure none return disappointed.

It’s calls for Cheers! over tea. 🍻☕️🍞

All stalls are next to each other. It's an amazing place for breakfast. Wake up in the morning on a sunday and without thinking much just head out for this place. Do try their Malai toast, double Malai toast, Chai and Cheese corn sandwich.

This is the best place near BBD Bagh. Went to this place with my friends. Chai, cheese sandwich and friends. What else can we ask for? I loved their chai. It was the best I had till now in Kolkata. If you are near BBD Bagh do visit this place. I am sure it won't disappoint you.

Heard a lot about this place. U name the car and you ll find it parked outside this joint such is the craze. Malai toast is the best , chilly cheese toast and aloo samosa are very good, kulhad chai is refreshing.

Worst Place ! A very overpriced place. People made hype about this place. But there is nothing as such great . These people exploit their customers and do not have menu...
Aayushpoddar16
Does the Coffee looks Like 50 Bugs?
Purposely these guys dont display their rates and exploits the customer. These guys charge different rates to different customers. And do not have a fixed menu displayed .Please guys dont visit the place at all. There are many other good places for breakfast. A bill of 1050 rs was the most unexpected thing happened to me. Hence, this dukan deserves to be in Kona only.
Harshit Choudhary
The worst place i have come across in my life. No customer preference. Salesperson is a cheat and shows an increased bill amount by evasion. This place is not worth visiting.
Poojan Choudhary
Doesnt deserve any rating & exploits customer to the fullest. Purposely they dont tell the rate to charge higher bill amount. Be careful if u visit this place.
Neha Choudhary
Pathetic place as they serve atrocius food and overcharge. Purposely do mistake in billing n unecessarily add quantity and increase the rate while billing.. rude behaviour of staff.

Since the time Calcutta Stock Exchange has stopped its operations the only thing left in these lanes are the food counters of tea, toast and food stalls. Before these used to be the place for people to sit and deal in stocks over tea and food and wait for their day to end. Now this lane has become the place for people to come and have food in fancy.

Some come after morning walks. Others come to have quick food and bites taking a break from their offices nearby.

This was the first time in my life that I happen to be here. We all finally made it to this place. These is a line of counters or say road-side shelters of tea, coffee, toast, sandwiches, south-indian and many more such snacks.

We tried a hell many things. We loved them all. The only thing which we did not like was the sabji kachori. They had a very wide range of sandwiches which we enjoyed quite a lot. Their south indian was amazing and light to the stomach. Their tea was the best in class. Simply good.

This place adds up to the many places of street food in kolkata. It is a wonder and people simply love coming here again and again.

Must visit and a highly recommended place by me.

We had one tea, two coffee, 2 singara, one chilli cheese sandwich, one corn cheese sandwich and one plate kachauri sabzi.. everything was damn tasty!!! Loved it.. can visit it daily!!

People usually come here for breakfast in their cars because there isn't any proper seating arrangement. This place offers a variety of sandwiches and dosas. You can also savour it with lassi and tea/coffee. My favorite is the Cheese Chilly sandwich . However I have also tried their cheese corn sandwich and Paneer sandwich which are pretty decent. The cheese masala dosa is something you can dig into. It's yummy. It costed around 500 for 6 people.
We had ordered
One Cheese Chilly sandwich
Two Cheese Corn sandwich
One Paneer sandwich
Two Cheese Masala dosa
Two tea
One lassi
Definitely worth it.
Ayush Jain
Yum malai toast, corn and cheese toast, aloo sandwich and tea.
Only minus point is lack of seating arrangement and parking space (specially early morning).
Aman Gaulechha
Tea here is 💓. The malai toast, the cheese toast and the cheese corn sandwich of this stall are what you can have cravings anytime. This outlet is an exemption to the rule that you get bored of a particular place after some visits.

Frequency of visits is 3-4 days a week for the last 4 years. I can conclude that its the best tea available in town. Cheese corn Sandwich is what I can have daily, the other option worth mentioning is panner sandwich. The malai toast goes well with the tea.

Come here for breakfast, lunch or evening snack or anytime you wanna have long talks. The only thing this place lacks is consistency, one day you get 2x of cheese in the sandwich and another day(generally few ones) you get half the cheese.

This is a local tea stall located right under Kolkata Stock Exchange on Lyons Range Street.
Park your Car around and the waiter would come right upto your window to take your order.
Tea with Masala Toast & Cheese and Corn toast are a must have.

This is a perfect place for some light breakfast or mid day snack. Recommended visit over weekends until 11-12 in the morning or Weekdays till 10AM to avoid rush hours.
