One of the evergreen and oldest food hub in Kolkata. I think being a citizen of Kolkata we all should try these remarkable places which had made a special place in the heritage and culture of the city. So, I had visited this place and tried some of their specialities including:
Dimer devil: A ball made of a half boiled egg and minced mutton filling and golden fried with a thin batter of bread crumbs. Tastes amazing, crispy outside and soft inside because of the highly flavourful mutton keema. With a hint of kasundi on the top, you can feel to be on cloud 9 while having this.

Foul cutlet: Don't get carried away by the name, it's not at all a spare or foul item to be honest. It's a must try if you visit this place. Basically this a cutlet made up of chicken keema, shredded onions, salt and pepper and deep-fried with a coating of bread crumbs. Made with so simple ingredients yet tastes so amazing.

Mete curry with bread toast: This is actually a bengali mutton liver curry cooked in authentic spices. It was a little bit on the sweeter side but complimented well with the bread butter toast. One can try this combo as well.

A gentle reminder: One should definitely reach this place by 7-7:30pm at the evening to get everything available.😊

This is a restaurant is situated in Girish Park crossing just beside the Girish Park Metro Station.

This is an old restaurant of North Kolkata. They serve traditional dishes like fish Fry, chicken and Mutton cutlet along with bread toast. The also provide chicken stew and also tea.

The recommended dish is the Egg devil. Which is big in size and the egg is coated by super tasty Masala(pur) made up with Mutton kima. The size of the egg devil is huge and is enough for one and the taste is equally fascinating.

Food quality was great. I will start mentioning about Kasundi (mustard sauce). As usual I had it with vegetable chop and it gave
me a kick to my tongue immediately, so raw it was. I asked them where they buy it from and answer was home made.
Vegetable chop was a jumbo in size with full of vegetables, best in class. In dimer devil you will get a full duck egg, a value for money.
Bread with mutton stew is a very popular dish here and a must try here.

"Niranjan Agar' is located in Girish Park and is one of the oldest eateries in Calcutta. It is a legendary place and the food is lip-smacking.

I ordered :-

🔴Mutton Chop (INR 28/piece) - The mutton chop was heavenly. The size of the chop was huge and it was filled with minced mutton.

🔴Breast Cutlet(INR 65) - The cutlet was amazing. It was filled with meat.

🔴Mutton Kopta(INR 60 for 2 pieces) - This was again a delicacy.

I will definitely visit again.

Niranjan Agar is a cafe started in 1922 in Central Kolkata.
I had a Dimer Devil which was made with duck egg and minced mutton. Fabulous taste, perfectly spiced with a hint of sweetness from the raisins.

A vintage style small eatery, the foul cutlet we ordered was a bit hard but taste was good. Completely worth the money. Ambience could be better if they increased the number of sits.

A rainy evening and our evening meal in north kolkata...honestly every meal is mouth watering here...and there is an old Kolkata vibe to the whole atmosphere. It is better to try to leave by 6 o'clock or else there is a high possibility that some of their signature items will run out. Of course we got the place. And yes this is also one of Kolkata's Hidden Gems... Highly recommend. I have given some pictures as samples for you

Visited in Nov 2023 A visit to this 100yr+ old establishment was long due for me and I did that during my recent visit to Kolkata. I ended up going on a Thursday and hence the menu is a separate one from the other days. None of the mutton dishes are available on Thursday. So visit the place accordingly. I ended up ordering the fish fry, special fish cutlet, chicken cutlet and egg chop. Really liked the fish fry and chicken cutlet and would recommend people to definitely order that. Service was fast. This place is a must try out for Kolkata folks.

One of the most iconic places in north Kolkata. Just beside gate 2 of girish park metro. We 4 friends ordered almost everything on the menu while comfortably seating in the largest table this place had offered. Great experience with the food. I will recommend Mutton braised cutlet and duck egg devil.

10/10 really good quality food. We had Egg Devil, Mutton Kosha, Mutton Liver curry and the side dishes we had with toasted milk bread which is the ONE AND ONLY, classic bread option. The total price of such amazing food was just Rs. 674 on the whole and it's really worth stressing on the quality- amazing! Since it's one of the oldest it does need some modifications but it gives off classic old Calcutta vibes! Do visit for the food.

An age old cabin styled restaurant in North Kolkata (beside Girish Park Metro). Egg mutton devil, mutton breast cutlet, mutton kasha etc are some of their signature dishes. Utterly delicious I must say although the price is quite high. Try to reach within 6pm otherwise their signature items may get finished. Highly recommended. 😊

Nostalgic. Old school. One of Dad's recommendations! Fowl cutlet chicken :- 4/5 Fish fry :- 4.5/5 (if only the portion was larger) Edd Devil (stuffed with mutton keema) :- 3.8/5 (however, sumptuous) Mutton cutlet:- 3.5/5 (quantity of mutton quite less in my opinion)

You can expect best quality Bengali snacks from this 100 year old joint. Small, but maintained the quality standards. I have been having from here for last 50 years, and they have not disappointed me ever. A must go. Better to take out.
