There are several gates. Trains are very frequently available from kabi Subhash to either dum dum or Dakshineshwar. During peak hours these are heavily crowded and there even time where u may not enter. But for senior citizens and specially able there are seats which are readily available.

Most of my time in Kolkata I have roamed around North Kolkata. The way to come and go are Howrah, Sealdah, Ultadanga, Dharmatala and korunamoyee thus South Kolkata is kind of beyond my grasp. On very rare occasions, ever turn up an opportunity to visit South Kolkata. I must admit that South Kolkata is much better well maintained, roads are wide, less congested and quite clean.
I really liked Kalighat, Rash behari Avenue, Lake Market.
