Review Wheels Restaurant - Kottayam

A restaurant established since 1854, that I used to dine at even as a kid. Wheels has great food and excellent service and nice ambience. Love their chicken steak/ sizzler the most. Their sizzler sauce is a very unique one and one the best I’ve ever tasted !

As a long-time patron of this restaurant, I can confidently say that it has been a cornerstone of my dining experiences since childhood. In fact, my parents used to frequent this establishment even before I was born, which speaks volumes about its enduring appeal. While the main courses are undoubtedly the star of the show, the desserts at this restaurant are the only aspect that falls a bit short. Although they are still enjoyable, they don't quite live up to the same standard set by the rest of the menu. That being said, the overall experience of dining at this restaurant is truly exceptional. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. It's clear that the owners take pride in their establishment and go above and beyond to make each visit a memorable one. If you're looking for a reliable dining experience that will leave you feeling satisfied and content, this restaurant is a must-visit.

A wonderful, small and cozy restaurant to spend some quality time with your loved ones or family. The place offers a variety of dishes and all the dishes we tried were good. All the items on the menu card were available (unlike some other places where the items on the menu card are..well only for the menu card). The only issue we found was the waiting time. We literally had to wait for 1 hour and 5 minutes to get the food. I think they are well aware of the waiting time and that might be the reason why they arranged things like books, puzzles, chess, etc to spend time while we wait eternally for food. We solved one puzzle, a game of chess, took 30 plus photos, and still, the food was not served. (not exaggerating). My suggestion - they should WARN us that if we are to order some items, it will take a lot of time to prepare and serve. Otherwise, people will get bored to death and all the other plans for the day will get spoiled because we chose to have food from here. Other than this waiting time - issue, everything else including the quality of food, parking space, etc are good enough. Another thing to notice is that the place is small and can cater only to about 20 people at a time.

Yummy food. One of the beef dishes I have till now. Pepper pork was yum too. Each and every dish was yum. Definitely will come again.

One of the oldest restaurants in Kottayam, but my first visit. Had chicken fried rice and pork pepper fry. Has to admit, this is one of the best pork fry ever tried from a restaurant other than my recipe. Service is excellent and fast.

Good with great service,but waiting time for food somewhat makes u a little bit annoying 🥶,but food is delicious and the seats are very close ,if u r their for a private convo ,the people nxt table will definitely hear you 😄😉.Their butter ckn is worth a try.

They have always been choosy with the menu and that is something I can endorse more as an adult I must confess. I truly appreciate seeing a half empty menu now when I am convinced they are putting their hearts into the other half of it. This place is famous for its versatile marketing and a very progressive ambience they have set up there from their beginning which feels like forever ago to me. Bunch of handpicked books on the shelf and a guitar on the corner in a small space with the walls holding a couple of paintings just alleviate our normal dining into something that is so "wheels" (wish I was getting greens for this, still pumped to do it anyway). Now onto the food options, the must-tries will have to be some of their 'pork dishes' or this 'schezuan beef (dry) with a bread' or this 'wheels special stuffed chicken'. Muah! Now recently on a visit, I had the Won Ton Soup which was legit the best comfort soup I have ever had. It has this magical balance of sourness and umami. Neither stands out but both completes each other (goals!!!!!). For the main course, I tried their Teriyaki chicken with Chapatis. They weren't disappointing either. It was a sweeter gravy than how I'd prefer it. Well executed though with crunchy bites of cauliflowers and a generous amount of sesame seeds thrown in making it so unique. Hands down its a place to visit if you are in town.

Heart warming experience!!! The place itself is such a welcoming ambience to enjoy the delicacies. Much recommended place for everyone. Can't believe that it's been established since 40 yrs!!! Hats off to the owner for maintaining it beautifully and carrying it forward amazingly. The passion and work dedication is exceptional.Thank you for the best service and food. Have been visiting this place regularly since I was a kid. The best place in Kottayam to go for when you are not in the mood for traditional food. The fried rice and chilli chicken here is a classic and I have boasted about it to all my friends outside Kerala that nothing they get is close to what we get in wheels. Like for all good things, you will have to wait a bit for your food to arrive, but in assure you that it is totally worth the effort.
