It's possible to order VEGAN cakes! We had vegan cardamom and cinnamon rolls. And they were SO GOOD:-) very friendly staff:-)

It's pure vegetarian restaurant. Their kerala paratha was very soft and tasty. They prepare every order freshly and service is also good. Mostly foreigners go here for their bread varieties and baked items. Only thing we didn't like was rice items. Even lemon rice is prepared with basmati and it was half boiled and hard to chew. Otherwise all good, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Its little inside the road.

Hidden gem!
You have to visit when in Kovolam, we found this much nicer than the restaurants out front. Serving curries at a good price and amazing flavour.
They have great desserts too!

I visited banana leaf restaurant several times. I felt very warm & comfortable atmosphere, with lots of different tasty veg: dishes, including light background music. I suggest this restaurant the best in Kovalam beach.

During our stay we went to many different restaurants but banana leaf was by far the best. We came back three times and each time the food, service and atmosphere were all perfect. Jo was by far the best waiter we’ve had during our whole stay! His attention to detail was very very good and he was very thorough. He remembered and made note of all requests made and made sure we were all happy with everything we received. We couldn’t think of any improvements that the banana leaf could make, apart from maybe getting cushions for the seats if we really had to think of something…
