A good reliable food spot for all visiting Kumarakom. This is a Kallushaap (Toddy Shop) so all the dishes will be on the hot and spicy side. Duck curry was decent with naadan tharavu. Beef fry was extremely spicy but still tasty. Kappa (Tapioca) was really soft and tasty. Fish was also pretty good. Appam was soft. Meals had really good veg accompaniments such as Avial, Thoran and Achar. The podimeen (Anchovies) was deep fried but tasted really good. Karimeen (Pearl spot) and Kakka (clam) was well prepared too. But what really stole the show and my taste buds was the awesome pork roast! Those who tried the toddy said it was on the sweeter side ( we had visited for lunch) . There are around two cottages with Air conditioning each of which can seat around 15 people. Other cottages are not air conditioned and there are around 3 or 4 of those. There is ample space for parking. Toilets were not that good. Wash basins are there in each cottage. There were 6 of us, and all this costed around 1.7k and our tummies were full.

I had the pleasure of dining at the renowned Tharavadu Family Restaurant in Kumarakom for lunch, and I must say it was quite an experience. However, there are a few improvements and additional details I can provide to make your description more enticing and informative. Located amidst the picturesque landscapes of Kumarakom, Tharavadu Family Restaurant is a popular culinary destination for locals and tourists alike. If you have a hankering for rice dishes, I recommend arriving early, as the demand for rice is high during the afternoon, and it tends to run out quickly. The restaurant offers a wide array of delectable meals, allowing you to indulge in a diverse range of flavors. During my visit, I had the pleasure of savoring their signature dishes, including Pearlspot, Pork, Duck, and Beef, all of which left a lasting impression on my taste buds. However, the standout dish for me was the Duck Mappas, with its succulent meat and rich, aromatic gravy. While the food was exceptional, I must advise against ordering the Porotta, as it didn't quite meet my expectations. Instead, I recommend trying their Appam, a traditional South Indian pancake that pairs perfectly with the flavorful curries. One of the standout features of Tharavadu Family Restaurant is its charming ambiance. The restaurant provides individual huts or cabins where families can comfortably enjoy their meals in a private and cozy setting. The rustic charm of these huts/cabins adds an extra layer of authenticity to the dining experience. Parking is never an issue at Tharavadu Family Restaurant, as they offer ample car parking facilities for the convenience of their guests. This ensures that you can focus on enjoying your meal without any worries. For those interested in experiencing local flavors, the restaurant also offers toddy in various quantities. This traditional alcoholic beverage adds a unique touch to the dining experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local culture. It's worth noting that the prices at Tharavadu Family Restaurant are slightly higher compared to other establishments. However, if you're planning to visit with a large group of people and your main focus is on indulging in a delightful culinary adventure, the experience is well worth the price. As you make your way to the restaurant, you'll be treated to a scenic journey surrounded by lush paddy fields on either side. I highly recommend taking the time to appreciate the natural beauty of the surroundings, as it adds to the overall charm of the experience. In conclusion, a visit to Tharavadu Family Restaurant promises a memorable dining experience, with its diverse menu, charming huts, ample parking, and scenic surroundings. Just remember to arrive early if you have your heart set on rice, and don't miss the opportunity to try their Duck Mappas.

This is on way towards kumarkom jetty points. Went there randomly. Place is huge, big parking area and various seating options. We saw a lot of families and tourist coming for lunch dinner here. Its a toddy bar to say but families flock there for their kerala style food. Ambience and seating is simple, menu is limited but authentic but let them know your spice level as food is quite spicy here. We loved the appams, chicken curry and prawns. Fish is also available and fresh as is surrounded by backwater. The best part is toddy which is so refreshing, authentic and hygenic. I liked it and would want to go back again anytime i am here. Pricing is quite reasonable and should definitelybe on your list if you are on this side. Loved it and must visit place.

The place is awesome, with wide a variety of delicacies..but the only problem is time...it's gonna take atleast 25 minutes to get your food ..so it would be better if you could add more staffs...the taste was outstanding and it was totally worth the wait

Very recently visited this famous toddy shop in Kumarakom. The food was exceptional, toddy was normal, fresh and preferably without any additives!! Karimeen fry was nice fresh and good size .Kappa, appam, duck roast, karimmen pollichathu, pork and beef was nice and tasty. Porotta was below average. Pricing as expected. We were served by waiter 'Sathyan' who was so kind, humble and ready to help. Could find a parking spot. Definitely family and kids friendly.

Great family restaurant were you can experience toddy shop food. We tried some of their sea foods as well as their pork. The food was spicy and delicious. I would recommend this to all who would like to drink toddy as well as experience foods that would be available in a toddy shop.

I loved the local food served at this place. My favourite being the Crab curry with Tapiocca. This place gives a homely feeling. From my father to a year old infant, everybody liked the food. After my home, I would prefer eating at Tharavdu family restaurant. Thank you team for serving us with the great food ❤️

Good place in kumarakom for having lunch and toddy. The place is family friendly with enough parking space. We had sweet toddy and it tasted good. Kappa, pork curry and crab curry were good. Beef was average, u may skip it. Meals and prawns will be ready by 1:00 pm. Reasonable price too.
