Review Radhu's Fine Dine - Leh

Satya Vrat Arya
While exploring the main market in Leh, we came across a place that serves excellent wazwan and fresh tikkas. It was a busy Saturday night with all the restaurants and cafes occupied but luckily we managed to secure a table by the window where we could enjoy the lively market view. For starters we ordered the Tandoori chicken which had a slightly dry texture. We assumed that it might have been made with frozen meat since obtaining fresh meat in this area might not be readily available. However the main course surpassed our expectations as we ordered two chicken wazwan dishes along with rotis. Both the gravy items had an amazing texture and taste and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Moving on to dessert we opted for gulab jamun and phirni. The gulab jamun was absolutely delicious with a melt in mouth texture and a delightful aroma of rose syrup. The phirni didn't meet our expectations. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant dining experience overall, with quick and efficient service.

Radhus in the evening and Radhus during the day, could be two different creatures. The evening avatar, with its smoky kebab and tandoori counter on the ground floor is all-welcoming and all-inviting for all meat-lovers. The Radhus by the day is a sleepy, supine creature, reluctant to be woken up. I decided to have a post-lunch dessert at Radhus, and check out their menu for another day. Radhus has been around for quite some time, so I guess some parts of their menu works. It's not a pure wazawan or Kashmiri eatery and the selection in the menu is a bit mystifying. The dessert section I was interested in, had just two desserts - gulab jamun and Kashmiri phirni. I ordered the phirni. And then to soothe my parched throat, a sweet lassi to go with that. Radhus interiors are just as mystifying as its menu. A mish-mash of no particular design or aesthetics, it has low seating on a raised platform, to mimic traditional Kashmiri dining areas and a more formal space with dining tables and chairs. I preferred a table by big glass windows, with a clear view of the beautiful, big, blue sky and the market below. That was the best part of the whole experience, the view of the beautiful sky. The phirni was nice too for the price, sprinkled with a few raisins and exactly two cashewnuts. The lassi was sweet, and neither too thick or thin. I may be tempted to return to try out their lamb kebabs and rogan josh.

So it was evening time and I was so hungry and craving for evening snack with tea . Initially I ordered chicken momos downstairs itself then decided to sit and dine in properly which turned out to be a great decision . Masala chai did so... needful . Chicken Momos delicious. Mutton Rogan Josh I tried for the very first time with paratha which I loved very much ! Taste 👌

Radhus is a very popular food joint, located just at the starting point of Leh Market. When we last visited they were offering only chicken tikka and mutton tikka. We ordered chicken tikka. The food was more than enough in quantity, taste was ammaazjngg. Absolutely fresh and smoky. Also quite moderate price. Loved the place. Do visit!

So i often come to radhus to have the tikka they serve from their live kitchen counter. But we were once craving fried chicken and after hunting for fried chicken in leh we ended up at radhus. The person offered to help by providing us fried chicken, even though it isn't in their menu. The taste, spot on. The presentation, spot on. The service, spot on. I could always vouch for their tikka, but now i would highly recommend fried chicken too. P.S. we also got a candle lit tomato.

You literally cannot overlook this place. All food is made fresh on the spot. The owner is really nice and even asks for your opinion on how he can serve you better. 10/10 you have to eat here.

The ambience was good here and was not crowded at the time of our lunch, even though it is situated nearby the main market. We had a simple vegetarian lunch but the taste not simple at all. It had quite the taste. Of all the places in Leh, we've been to, for breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, it has the most tastey and pocket friendly food, we had.
